my only dog related goal this year is to get more into canicross with finch. that’s it. i just wanna run more consistently with my best little dog

#idk i tried doing sport related goals once and i just #forget them or feel pressured to complete them #so i am just. Not #there are things that i am planning on DOING #like competing at UPDIF #doing more quads #start judging updog #and keep doing preflights in flyball #but they’re just. How they both have to maintain distance from others bc of their positions as captain & vulcan #I hate when people dismiss Tuvok as not being remotely interested in Maryana or Noss - it erases an interesting struggle that he and Janewa #both share - their desire to stay loyal to their spouses vs the 70 years of loneliness that that loyalty demands of them #But they BOTH triumph and they BOTH remain loyal (Tuvok until he returns to T'Pel and Janeway until Mark informs her that it's over)#and for both of them it's a little bit insane for them to do that.#Isn't it more interesting that Janeway and Tuvok both have feelings for people other than their spouses but don't give in #to that temptation?#They're both people who live very fastidiously by codes. Either written codes or moral codes - they very rarely if ever do things because #it's what THEY want to do. I'd say they're the least emotion-driven members of the crew and yes I'm including Seven because Seven #has a very...how to describe? It's a blunt and insular selfishness. She does what SHE wants to do and doesn't really care about others.#To me that's emotion-driven. Or...personal desire-driven? Not a bad thing at all but very different from Janeway & Tuvok who #are always more 'this is logical' or 'this is for the crew' rarely do they think 'this is what I want' bc they can't afford to #for different reasons (captain & vulcan)#they both also are in the most 'caretaking' positions on the ship from my POV. Security and Captain - both are directly in charge of #ship and crew safety.#Janeway & Tuvok #star trek voyager #st voy #when I say caretaking I'm NOT saying they're everyone's mom and dad or whatever - I'm saying they're in positions where they always #have to think about the greater good and the crew as a whole and how much danger is acceptable etc etc.#Janeway is always killing herself for the crew but Tuvok is right there beside her

#russell crowe #quotes #russellcroweedit #crowedit #croweedit #gilles gifs #if you do not want my cringe analysing then do not read further yadda yadda #but there are a couple things to note here #i think the most important one is his body language #he invited this interviewer to his farm and his safe space and they seemed to have a lot of fun #but nothing really cut deep at first #it was mostly just talking about projects and the farm and goofing off on the quad bikes #and then towards the end they end up discussing more serious matters #i do not know how it is cut but this subject seems to be dropped a bit out of nowhere #and russell is REALLY obviously not comfortable with the subject #he builds up walls & he's dismissive in his answer & trying to deflect and not feed the interviewer too much at first #his 'you do do you?' is really like a laughing scoff that in a way tells the interviewer Okay Do Not Go Here #and then during his reaction to the image of hollywoods bad boy and the image being overblown #he slowly eases a bit #first of all because the interviewer allows him to explain himself and share his thoughts without too much judgement #which helps a lot as russell deals Really Poorly with people who have their judgements ready #and i think he was afraid of that #so he starts off a bit colder with the 'here's the thing mate'#but then he removes his sunglasses and he seems a bit more... thoughtful #and imho saying Everyone Else Is Wrong etc is still a bit... a deflective statement #but at the same time his whole body language went through a Huge transformation already in the span of 15-20 seconds #I think it is fair that people ask him tougher questions and I think he is very capable of handling them these days #but you can just... tell that this subject will always be kind of elephant-in-the-room-ish #and that in many ways russell is trying to carry himself with pride while simultaneously looking like a guilty dog #ALSO i do think he is right and justified in saying this

Spectember day 16 - sapient dragons

lazy day 16 because I didn't sleep much (entirely my own fault) and don't have it in me to make new drawings

(both images here were drawn in late august & are a bit janky bc i did it quickly but it's good enough for now)

the dragon planet is inhabited by animals superficially resembling dragons from our own mythology

all dragons are descended from a common ancestor, the salamander, and two different species of dragon from two different lineages evolved sapience at more or less the same time

the two sapient dragons are wyverns; a flying species of dragon that has turned their middle pair of limbs into wings. they can also use their front limbs as arms, while the wings & back legs handle all the walking

and drakes; an arboreal species with 1 pair of legs and 2 pairs of arms

all salamander descendants, including wyverns & drakes, have 6 limbs, and their brain is safely tucked away inside their ribcage. the head is just the mouth and sensory organs. the nostrils are on the body somewhere too i'm just too lazy to move them off of the head

Another unforeseen frustration in my quest to find a romance novel I actually like: a huge chunk of college romances are written by people who have clearly never been to college.

#i can’t take this shit seriously #colleges don’t have clicks #no one cares of you are a virgin #no one cares how you dress #i took every single exam in pajamas #the real weirdos skateboard down the quad with a canoe oar #posers who think they are weird for liking books don’t get invited places #i’ve gotten more pressure to drink at a single one of my mom’s book club meetings #that my entire four years of college #when are you doing class work?#have you ever had to write even an undergraduate essay?#Do you know how long those take?#why are classes just called ‘english’#and not something like ‘Literature of the Great Depression’#Why is the professor asking the class if they predicted the two leads falling in love?#and not i don’t know any actual analysis!?#and why doesn’t anyone talk about their classes outside of them?#me and my friends loved discussing our lessons #both those from my department and from other majors #no talking out a project you’re having trouble with?#no struggling with the transition from high school essay writing to college level?#No stories about your favorite professors?#no gaining perspectives from a different major?#clubs? hangouts? soccer on the tennis courts at 3am?#i thought i would like these because i loved college and miss it #but these are all just high school without a bell #plus they’re mostly just bad in other ways too #i think I’m done with this genre #booklr
