I saw a random post linking to this now-unrebloggable but very good post about the current state of reading comprehension in the USA amongst learned english majors due to the quite literal scam sold to the US government decades ago that has impacted generations, as many people have no doubt noticed but not been able to give a name to:

and out of sheer curiosity I am, I guess, now going to read "Bleak House" by Charles Dickens once I get through my current To Be Read list?

Anyways, for those unaware, it is Public Domain in the USA, which means you can 100% legally read it online or download to your favorite reading app from Project Gutenberg!

"Bleak House" by Charles Dickens is a novel written in the mid-19th century that explores the themes of social justice, the inefficiencies of the legal system, and the personal struggles of its characters.

The narrative primarily revolves around several characters involved in the interminable court case of Jarndyce and Jarndyce, delving into their lives, relationships, and the pervasive influence of the legal system on their choices and fates.

Because if we really think about it, the myth boils down to two brothers doing severely wrong by their sister, and the actions Demeter had to take to make them listen to her. It’s interesting power dynamics, of course, but it does make me wonder what type of extremes Demeter would go through if her famine wasn’t enough. And that’s not even mentioning Poseidon’s assault on Demeter during her search and Hera’s loud absence from the myth in general

Y'all desmos has complex numbers now!!

(Complex numbers are just numbers to a girl like me, but big news for everybody else so I thought would disseminate.)

It was such a pain in the ass to do complex functions in desmos before, I have spent so many hours trying to get real number based desmos to do domain coloring with complex functions. I haven't actually had a chance to try it out yet so I don't know exactly how it's implemented.

(we did the same thing before they added 3D where you could use parametrics in 2D to graph any 3D explicit function, but it was a pain and took a long time to figure out how to graph 3d on a 2d space. (It took a while to engineer for me at least, idk if it was actually easy and I'm just stupid))

Something Ene, and only Ene can do, weirdly enough is to tell you that you're a person.

In their world, at least for the artificial humans, how you came to be is quite important. After all, the only reason they are not seen as a human is the method of how they are made. They are made in a lab, they are tools, and that's all they ever will be.

But if Enea, the god whose domain is fertility, the one who allows something to even be conceived, to be born, says that you're a person regardless of how you came to be, then you are a person.

You are a someone and not a something because Enea said so.

Rooby is a floating robot with a grey, round metallic body and large pink and grey eyes, fan vents in the back and yellow led lights by his chin. the back of his head is broken showing parts of a brain which belongs to the deceased WW2 vet James Jankovich. His arms are like that of a crab but once again metallic with red and blue gem-like orbs on them which is where he stores electric current to use the arms like a taser. He moves around by floating.

Rooby the Human Robot, super old oc that i made public domain back in 2011 on the free universe forum altho i believe he was created in 2010. this is a recent drawing i made of him. I was 16 at the time but i thought this was a cool idea.
