This is such a random thing to say lol but if you're an older teenager I need you to resist the urge to scrub your cringy drawings from when you were slightly younger from the web. Keep them up or have the back up somewhere before you take them down. I spent my entire teenage years, especially from like 11-16 drawing non stop and thing basically all of it is lost and I WISH I had it all saved to look back on

Jaune: I'm at the gym at the same time as Weiss. Just by coincidence and I'm trying to ignore her but it's tough. I know why I'm sneaking glances at her. Don't I? Her skin is bright with a light layer of sweat. Her flat stomach is exposed. Her tight yoga pants start on her waist and go so far down her butt, thighs, and calves that it's ruining me.

Jaune: She's going very light on all these machines but her form is exquisite. She's wearing an outfit where I am forced to watch these gorgeous back muscles flex out from her pale skin when she does elegant overhead pull downs.

Jaune: We keep making eye contact - as we move around between machines and sets - in the mirrors that line the entire room, and - and! And even when we both have to turn our heads visibly and uncomfortably.

Jaune: I see how shiny her biceps are with sweat and I want to lick her skin. Give me a taste! If she isn't also checking me out then why have we been making eye contact every other minute for the last hour?! Get out of my soul!

Happy Friday All!

In early 2020 (before Covid), I was painting larger paintings like this with Acryla-Gouache. I was really enjoying the medium.

I was inspired by a couple of photos by Annie Bertram on Deviant Art and asked permission to use them for reference.

Since I was just doing these for myself... I had NO plan. No test drawings. No layouts. I just started drawing on a large piece of paper and figured it out as I went.

Because of this... I never really figured out what to do with the hand on the left.

So... it just kind of disappeared.

I may go back and add it in later, I think.

But, for now... it's always a reminder of a time where I just broke out the paints and... played.

A couple months later... Covid hit and it was 3 years until I did my next large painting (the Gothic Vampire).

(Note: I can't find a reply from the photographer regarding permission or not. My memory is I heard back. But I can't find it.)

I DID hear from the model Theresa Fractale, a couple of years later, who was VERY upset that I had sold some postcards of the painting without her permission.

I was mortified. I hadn't even considered reaching out to the model. I offered her and Annie Bertram all of the profits I made from the sales, but she wasn't satisfied... and we left it at that.

These things DO happen with artists. Sometimes people claim you've "stolen" their art or style or likeness. And sometimes they have legitimate reason to do so.

Me, personally... I believe that artists should use ALL of the world around them for inspiration and if it is HEAVILY influenced by one artist or work of art... CREDIT them.

But change it. Don't directly copy it (unless you're studying someone's work... in which case... copy away).

But always credit.

I believe I REFERENCED the photos above, but didn't copy them.

But, I DID heavily reference them and, honestly, had NO intention of selling it (I still own the painting) or prints (I had only sold a few postcards before being contacted by the model... then stopped).

In any case... if the model or the photographer is unhappy with me selling prints... I don't sell prints. It's that simple.

Their work directly inspired MY work and while I feel that I've changed it enough to be unique... I don't want to cause another artist harm in any way.

Every artist is different. Some are open to sharing their art (like me) and others are very protective of their art.

But, there are no RULES to art. There is no such thing as "cheating" in art. There IS copyright LAW. And that is theft.

But that law ONLY (as far as I know) works if you are SELLING a copy of someone else's work. Profiting from it.

Not for learning. Not for practice. And not for posting online.

Just please... PLEASE credit the artist you're copying. Tell people why you are copying.

Nowadays, if I'm going to do a painting I plan on making prints of, I either use stock photography I've paid for or I get permission and pay the rights holder.

But, this is ONLY for pieces I want to sell prints of.

You do NOT need permission to use photo reference or even copy another artist's work for your portfolio or to post online.

Credit them. Share your inspiration with others. Tell them why you copied the works

But you don't need permission simply to make art. Ever.

Art should be shared. Copied. Studied. And most of all... enjoyed.

- IDK - I'm really excited for Art Fight this year, I have this cool attack idea that sot of reminds me of OCT's (OC Tournaments, for those who don't know why they were they were OC tournaments held on deviant art in I believe the early 2000's-2010's, a lot of OCT's now are lost to time but the ones that have come to light at "Law of Talos" and "Endzone", they are NOT solely created by one person despite popular belief but instead a community project, people just think it was created by this one guy "unknownperson" because of his really popular animations(which is probably why LOT & EZ became popular really) XP). I'm really hoping I can actually get this attack idea out honestly because this person who's OC's I wanna draw is really passionate about them and I am always drawn to OC's who's creator's are MEGA passionate for!

I find it so annoying and disconcerting that The Audience is not allowed to simply discuss media anymore without the creators of said media engaging in the discussion. Breeze did not tag Evan Stanley in their tweet. They were simply voicing their own thoughts, in their own space, on a public platform. Artists who work on the comic found (or more likely, were sent) their tweet, and decided to engage with it. In a very defensive and condescending manner, it must be said.

I keep going back to this, but the creators of the IDW Sonic comics do not seem to be aware that they are creating an official product that is being sold for money. They act like they're creating a web comic or something. A passion project that they're making for fun, and we're being assholes by criticizing their fanart. It's incredibly unprofessional, and I don't mean that in a derogatory way, I mean LITERALLY unprofessional - this is behavior that you see from people who are NOT professionals. If I find a comic on deviant art, say for example Ghosts of the Future, and I start complaining about how bad it is, then the artist and creator of that comic is more than well within their rights to defend their creation which they drew in their own free time and have posted free of charge as an expression of their own passion.

If I SPENT MONEY on a PRODUCT that was PUT ON SALE by a MAJOR PUBLISHING CORPORATION then I am allowed to say whatever the hell I want about what a piece of shit it is, and YOU as a contributing creator to that product are well within your rights to SHUT THE FUCK UP AND PISS OFF. Who the fuck do you think you are? What do you think our relationship is? I bought the fucking ticket, I can say whatever the hell I want. If you don't want me to be able to do that then GIVE THE MONEY BACK. The five dollars I spent on this comic issue is the free pass that gives me the right to wipe my ass with it in front of your face, and the money in your hand that you were paid in exchange for producing that comic means you have to sit there and watch silently with NO INPUT OR RESPONSE WHATSOEVER.

The way these creators feel like they have the right to respond to fan discourse and criticism like this is so INSANE. Like, first of all, everything I already said: you produced an official product that was manufactured for sale. This is a transactional relationship, and the transaction is completed as soon as I spend the money. After the money changes hands the relationship is officially over and you have no input from that moment onward. Second of all,

how is this not punching down? How is this not inciting harassment? Evan is 100% knowingly exploiting her status as a much larger and prominent account to intimidate critics into silence and putting a target on a much smaller account and essentially giving her fanatical followers carte blanche to attack them with righteous indignation.

There is a zero percent chance that she is not aware of what she is doing.

These comic creators (and I don't just mean the creators of IDW Sonic either this is a massive problem with western comic books in general tbh) have a serious problem where they think that we are peers. We're not. You are the creators. We are the audience. We are not peers. This is not a respectful discussion between equals. Comic creators in this day and age are all comic fans themselves, they became comic creators because they were fans and got the dream job of getting accepted into the comic industry, but they never acclimatized to realizing that they are now part of that industry and thus NO LONGER PART OF THE FAN COMMUNITY. They act like we're all still just fans discussing the thing we're a fan of, and they have just as much of a right to take part in that discussion as everyone else. But they aren't, and they don't. They gave up that privilege when they started accepting a paycheck.

The fact that they do not realize that and keep doing this shit is destructive to fandom spaces and discourse. The response to what Evan Stanley has done with her tweet needs to be "SILENCE BRAND" en mass, because that's what she is now. She is The Brand. And she needs to be treated as such, especially since she is seemingly unaware of her status.

Oof, okay, so this is going to cringe me out so much when I answer this... But I'm doing it for you, plus they say embarrassment helps people grow so here we go!

First off, when I started this blog two months ago I also posted it onto Deviant Art, but ended up deleting it after like a day because it SUCKED. I don't know what happened to that platform but, wow, it was sad to see how much it spiraled. I've only posted here ever since, but I do plan on creating a Bluesky this week as a backup platform for the comic!

However, throughout my entire life (Primarily tweens through late teens) I've had countless accounts where I posted my art... All under different usernames and most I can't even remember! I've been on Instagram, Tumblr, DeviantArt, etc. Any platform that I could post art to really. I never really got many views so I would be surprised if you really did see my stuff before.

I did have a previous Undertale comic that I only made like 3 pages of lolol. It was called The Last Timeline, but again, it never got a lot of views. My art style has changed drastically since then but maybe you could find similarities? I'm really hesitant to even post anything about it because I purged the comic and all my old art off the internet because tasdFHKdjsahjkdfgdf It's embarrassing! (I'll think the same thing about this comic come 10 years I'm sure). I'm looking at one of the pages for the old comic right now and I can't stop cringing. Though, this was before Deltarune even released so Kris would not have been in any of my art at the time, I think this was around 2017. My art style and designs also aren't exactly the most unique thing in the world, which isn't me putting myself down or anything! It's just that I'm creating something based off of an already existing game that has a huge fanbase. I'm sure there's going to be overlapping ideas designs! The amount of times I've seen Kris in a green sweatshirt with a black hoodie underneath is high lol

When your ask came in weeks ago, something in my chest squeezed a little. Because god yes I miss him too. Sometimes it feels like the whole world is kinda 'off', like everything is 'wrong', like we're all stuck in a holding pattern of sorts... And for anyone who thinks that's too dramatic, no it's not. Look around you. The world is kinda fucked, and the reason is because Jimin isn't on stage right now seducing the crowd performing like rent is past due, dancing his heart out, and singing like the fallen angel he is.

It's hard for me to talk about him these days though... I mean, there's always so much to say when it comes to Jimin, but the words don't form quite right for me these days.

Another picture I stare at on days when I miss jikook jikooking, is this one.

It's the moon in the shot that does it. The lines and symmetry, the afterglow of the sunset, Jimin's wide curved back, Jungkook focused on him, Jimin focused on him too, the fact someone else saw them like this and took this picture. They could've been chatting about what they'd like to eat for dinner or some other mundane thing, but it's the care and focus they show for each other that comes through so clearly for me in this shot.

Keen observation: The Kny "Ship wars" are getting out of hand

Let's begin. This post has been made to deliver my take on the, uh... insanely inappropriate actions of the fanbase for the popular anime and manga series: Demon slayer - Kimetsu No Yaiba - from the futile beginnings of shipping characters.

And do not mistake this for me saying people should not be shipping characters at all - I am a Multishipper myself, and I do think it is nice to see people coming up with beautiful art for them, and I have read some fics that have genuinely been so interesting I almost forget that it is cannon deviant.

What I AM saying is that people are literally allowed to do literally whatever they want. People want to ramble on about how immaculate their very specific Rarepair is? Let them. You see someone making art for a ship you don't like? Sit back and appreciate the art - Let them.

But the problem really begins when people start getting fiercely overprotective of their ships. It does seem a little silly to me, even as I'm typing this like why is this such an insane problem lmao??

And it's not even just limited to the Kny fandom - the HH (Hazbin Hotel) and BNHA//MHA (Boku No Hero Academia // My Hero Academia) fandoms are probably the best example of the shows getting low-key ruined by the fanbase - EVEN IN TADC WHERE THE CREATOR SPECIFICALLY SAID THAT THEY DO NOT CARE WHO PEOPLE SHIP. And I really don't think the media should be dragged down by a few people taking things way too far.

And if you have been following the drama going on in the Demon Slayer fandoms, particularly here on Tumblr and Pinterest - you already know what ships I'll be talking about.

SaneGiyu // GiyuShino.

Like I previously mentioned, I am a Multishipper, and while I can appreciate GiyuShino - Like it is a cute ship, I see the vision and there is a little bit of evidence that can be interpreted as fuel for the ship, I used to ship it myself, by the time I had finished the Manga I was fully shipping SaneGiyu. Not to the point I say it's cannon per say, but where I can see the chemistry and I will use things from the manga to back up why the ship is plausible.

(This is such a stupid post) But then there are some people who ship SaneGiyu who are being toxic to GiyuShino shippers // Saying things like "Giyú is clearly gay!!" And I mean there is a pretty good case to be made that Tomioka is not interested in women, it's still just a headcannon and you literally cannot force someone else to think that??

Or "Shinobu is clearly a Lesbian!!" I personally like this headcannon, she is just too much of a girl boss to be with a man, but then looking at canon material, there isn't much to go off of that shows her to have an interest in women! - and no hate to ShinoMitsu shippers - it's cute x

"Please - the age gap is insane" And you know what? Fair enough. It is fair enough. She is 18 and he is 21. And that is a three year age gap, and in some cases there would be a rift in maturity, but I think that can fly out the window, as Kocho is clearly more mature than her age.

But then you need to look at context for the time and it isn't too outlandish. But then in the moderns School AU, hell no. That same age gap, in modern times with him being a teacher and her being a student?? THAT'S WEIRD.

But then on the other hand there are some GiyuShino shippers that make the opposite arguments; "Giyú is clearly straight" (Like I said, there is a clear case to be made that Tomioka has little to NO interest in women) or "Sanemi and Giyú hate each other!!" (That was a case of miscommunication between them, and was resolved by the manga's end, they are now - in cannon - seemingly good friends)

BUT.

I have now seen multiple accounts on Pinterest making Pins telling people to K!ll themselves - BECAUSE OF A SHIP??

Like excuse me?! They literally said they think these two fictional characters would be a cute couple - AND YOU TOLD THEM TO K!LL THEMSELF??? It's disgusting to say the least.

People: shipping is supposed to be a silly goofy fun thing we do to show our interests and explore AU's - NOT AN OPPORTUNITY TO HURT PEOPLE OVER SHIPPING. FICTIONAL. CHARACTERS.

But if you guys ever:

See people Proshipping? - report it if you want to.

See art for a ship you don't like? - hide it from your feed.

See people hating on a ship you like? - Remove / Block them.

See people leaving nasty comments on your // other people's posts? - Remove the comments, block them and report the usuer.

Just BLOCK the people causing the issues - do not become one of them.

TLDR: Let people ship what they want to PLEASE guys, lets just have fun with our fandoms x.

I just finished reading through all of your shitennou analysis and am now desperate to know your thoughts on Endymion/Mamoru as a character. It also made me curious about what a role reversal would be like if one of the shitennou was the prince and mamoru was a guard instead.

Oh boy. I really have to dig up my notes and get back on track for working more on the ideas I have in my head about the Sailor Moon Characters. Endymion, I really have to believe that he was way more innocent than Mamoru as a person. What I mean by that is that I feel he probably still had his family alive, as she never mentioned them to be dead, and thus had his parents to lean on a lot more than Mamoru does. He's way more impulsive than Mamoru to me, as far as I can tell, and tends to build up the idealized versions of a situation. He's willing to go meet with the moon princess even though it's not a great idea to do so, but also he's blind to the feelings of others. If he had noticed that Beryl's past self was in love with him, he could have quashed that way earlier and shown her that he cares about her but wasn't romantically interested. But he seems to be so focused on the things that he wanted that he missed all of the other situations around him, thus leading, or helping to lead, to the tragedy of the situation. Is he a good kid, yes, he is a smart kid, no, not in the least. I partly think that is also one of his biggest flaws that he has a laser focus, and that also translates to Mamoru.

Mamoru, he's not as dumb as his past self. For one thing he's a bit harder emotionally and a bit more serious as a person. He's less blinded to things around him, and notices things a lot faster. Such as who Sailor Moon is, and catching on what she's doing. Keeping her safe or warning her about things, and he doesn't see the world in an idealized way that his past self did with his parents being gone from this world. Also, a desire to be a doctor shows a lot more empathy towards those in need, something I don't think Endymion was fully able to understand as, again, totally missed Beryl's feelings. However Mamoru is also has his past self's laser focus that blinds him to dangers and is a bit reckless himself. On top of that, I feel that Mamoru, up until the end of the first arc, and partly in to the later arcs, has some form of depression and it makes him less willing to connect to others. He doesn't want to open up as much, and I wish that had been explored, but she only had so many chapters, and it is a Sentai (which doesn't always explore emotions as well as it should) so some of that shojo emotional aspect is focused all on the girls. Over all I find him interesting and wish he had more time to get a more rounded development. Heh, I actually have a story, well a set of stories that I want to write that has the Shitennou come back either before or after the Black Moon arc, and would have them around up until the end and how that could change up the story. Yes, they would be Mamoru's guards during that time. And yes I have names, and a plot line, I just have to rework it. XD

As for an AU where from the start they were the Scouts and protecting him, I think we'd see their personalities clash differently than the girls. While I think they would be friends, I feel like it would have more of a Pretty Cure-esque aspect, at least with probably Kunzite as he's supposed to be in his 20s and the oldest of the boys. Neph, Zosite, and Jadeite would be closer to Mamoru, while Kunzite was more a cross between a mentor and the Special Ranger, if you will. I think story wise we'd see them handled the monsters differently and Luna would be a bit more direct with him vs. how she is with Usagi. It's something to think about. Someone had a comic up about that a long time ago on Deviant Art. Wish I could remember what it was.

Currently Reading: DanDaDan by Yukinobu Tatsu (Manga) and Jujutsu Kaisen by Gege Akutami (Manga). Both are also popular anime series now--i'm just real late to the game. I'm at least a level 6 weeb.

Currently Watching: After netflix started excluding shared accounts, I kinda stopped watching everything. Lots of cool stuff people are doing--I do feel bad for not seeing Oppenheimer. Its probably for the best cause I ended up watching tons of lame teenage vampire stuff to sate my endless appetite for fantasy. I will say the series "The Magicians" was really good though (not a teen vampire series).

Currently Craving: a world that's not constantly on fire; a return to rule of law in the united states; a global, scientifically-guided action to actually remediate climate change; an abandonment of AI in its entirety as its polluting both art and science at a high cost to the environment. (sorry for taking a softball interview question and turning it into a hot ball, politicized disaster)

Last Movie: yeah, i don't watch stuff anymore as much as let my ADD take over and end up reading 200 pages on Diogenes (philosopher/public masturbator) or whether Celtic tartans did or did not have clan-based tartans (They did not despite the existence of a tartan registry. Yes, i watched Outlander.)

What I Read in February 2025

Forth Wing by Rebecca Yarros - 3.00/5.00

I didn't hate it? Like, I didn't love it, it isn't really to my taste, but I see why other people like it so much. It is very accessible, pulpy fun. If you're just looking for an easy beach read, it would be a pretty good choice. And if you liked this book, you might want to check out Naomi Novik's Temeraire series.

I do like that Violet knows that she can't win a fair fight, so goes out of her way to be assigned kitchen duty to give her assigned opponents food poisoning. Don't get me wrong, the murder college makes no sense. The rules contradict each other and Violet is constantly pulling loopholes out of thin air. Most of her solutions to problems almost seem clever on the surface, but if you stop to think about it, it makes everyone else look stupid and incompetent because they are so obvious that someone in the hundreds of years of the Murder College should have thought to try it.

I actually like that it takes the time to explain basic fantasy terms rather than taking for granted that its audience has that built-in vocabulary, due to the expanded audiance for this book. There are some series that can get away with anachronisms, this one doesn't quite manage it and it took me right out every time it happened. Also, I don't like that you can pick out the redshirts in Violet's squad based on who doesn't like her.

The thing on the parapet with the boot is very stupid. I wrote half a sticky note of other notes, then came back around to write more about how stupid the boot thing was because I was so fixated on it. Violet and her friend are going to have a much harder time balancing with mismatched shoes. I took a picture of my own equestrian boots, which have a decent amount of grip to them, and checked an older pair that are probably from the 80s, there's still some grip to the soles because you don't want your stirrups sliding around. The boot thing is dumb, I shouldn't think about it so much, but for whatever reason, I fixated on it.

There were a few too many training montages and I think that the book could have shaved about fifty pages to improve the pacing. However, the action scenes are pretty good when they get going. I really liked the big battle scenes at the end. I still think Xaden has a stupid name, and unfortunately for him my standard for misunderstood dragonrider bad boys was set by Murtagh when I was young, but he and Violet have decent chemistry. Every time the griffins were mentioned, I was the Warden pestering Wynne to tell me more about the griffins. The dragons were also great. I loved every moment they were on page.

That being said, every time I was almost into it and just along for a fun ride, it would drop a line straight out of My Immortal and take me right out of it.

Again, I had more fun with it than not. I liked it when it was about dragons, not so much when it was about love triangle drama. I think that if I paid money for it, I'd be disappointed, but as it was, it was pretty fun in a trashy, deviant art sort of way.

Radiant Sin by Katee Robert - 2.25/5.00

It feels very weird to stay that there's too much plot, but there's too much plot. The plot of this individual book, Clue with slightly less sex appeal, could have been fun in a vacuum. However, the author takes too much time setting up more of an overarching plot for the series for this book to work on its own.

If this had just been a sexy murder mystery house party, I would have had a much better time with it. When it started, it was just stupid fun, which at the time I was reading it, was exactly what I wanted. I LOVE a competent, powerful person and their girl Friday. I love that setup so much.

I loved Cassandra. She was great. She was genuinely mean, bitter, and skeptical and I loved that for her. I wish she'd been a little brattier in the sex scenes, but that's just a personal taste thing. Apollo was kind of bland, but likeable. However, all of the things going on with Hermes make him look incompetent and useless as a spymaster, and I just don't really like incompetence in a love interest.

I liked the cameos from Helen, Achilles, and Patroclus. Every moment Hermes and Psyche were on page, it sparked rage. The narrative bends over backwards to show how great Hermes is and they wind up doing all of the interesting things to resolve the plot, which makes the main characters and this book as a whole feel pointless.

Not in Love by Ali Hazlewood - 0.75/5.00

I've previously liked Ali Hazlewood's books in a trashy, brain candy kind of way. I did not care for this book. I did not care for this book at all.

My notes for this one are all over the place and I only finished it out of spite. It put me off of reading for almost a week after I finished it. I barely grabbed a picture for other reviews before sending it back to the used book superstore whence it came.

Rue might be too dumb to live. Eli is an annoying, overbearing simp after knowing her for less than an hour. Being in both of their POVs was torture. They kept having the same circular conversations in which they misinterpret each other for almost four hundred pages. Also, I don't like the switch between first and third person when the author switches viewpoint characters.

The sex scenes are generally the weaker parts of Ali Hazlewood's books, so to choose to structure the book around them was a misstep. They're boring and repetitive. And I am so sick of submissive women. Also, condoms expire and degrade faster in heat so you shouldn't use the ones that have been in a glove box in Texas for a few years.

Rue's workplace gets toxic start up Bingo and she's half the squares. She's a friend of the owner who works on her own projects, doesn't contribute anywhere else, and doesn't communicate with people. Like, I hate doing science communication too, but a poster's title is just that. A title. It should not be a whole damn paragraph.

What if with MK1 Medusa Reader Part II

A/N: A continuation of this what if plot I thought of. I was inspired by @professionalranter31 to write this one from the perspective of the Mortal Kombat characters reacting to Medusa!Reader summoning the Kraken.

You are on your hands and knees and the edge of a cliff facing the ocean that just had an armada of ships sailing towards the shore. In an instant, the Dragon King, Onaga, wiped them all from existence with an infernal ball of fire. Leaving nothing behind but smoldering remains and husks. On those ships, was supposed to be Empress Mileena and her Supreme Commander and sister, Kitana, and their father, former Emperor Jerrod. Along with your close friends, Zaterran Emissary, Syzoth, and Tarkatan Colony leader, Baraka. Your dearest loved ones. Gone.

“There’s nothing left to loose.” You whisper as tears start to pour from your face, the scorching sun above soon evaporating them with its heat. Behind you, Ashrah approaches you to place a hand on your shoulder. "Please Y/N, you know that's not true." You shake off Ashrah's hand as you begin to rise on your feet. A dark and determined look sets itself on your features. You then reach into your robe's pocket to pull out some yellowed and weathered composition sheets. "I didn't want it to come down to this. I really didn't, but the choice is now obvious." "What are you-" Ashrah is caught off guard when you threw your head back and belt out the first few notes, but she's able to get enough of a glance at the sheets you held to cause her stomach to drop. The demoness recognizes the writing to belong to some of the darkest magicks. Ashrah glances up at the sky as dark storm clouds begin to brew. "Y/N, STOP!" But you don't heed her warning, instead sending her back a safer distance with the others with a flick of your water magic. You're then surrounded by a torrent of darkness and bioluminescent green before it engulfs you.

The seas began to bubble as if being brought to a broil, as your magic reaches the sky to bring in more storm clouds followed by a torrent of rain falling hard. Shang Tsung stops mid-fight watches with Quan-chi and Rain with surprise written on the latter's face. The former High Mage then snaps out of his stupor to grab Shang Tsung by the front of his tunic.

"What did you do, Sorcerers?" Raine demanded, after all, the island they're on is Shang Tsung's. The latter gives a deep scowl. "I tried to warn her against this, I hoped she would be wise enough to never try to summon it. "And you did not think to inform me about this?" Quan-chi raises a none existent brow as tentacles began to sprout from the sea before wrapping themselves around the Dragon King. Onaga lets out a mighter roar that shakes the ground beneath him.

The forementioned sorcerer glances over at you as you raise yourself even higher on a pillar of sea water, with your magic dancing and twisting around you as if they were made from the element you commanded. You yourself danced with your hands in the air and wings spread out, all while your appearance began to drastically darken to reflect your now tainted soul. If Quan-chi didn't know any better, he would think that you came straight from the Netherealm itself.

Onaga and the Kraken's battle becomes so tumultuous that tsunamis the size of mountains form, and would've engulfed everyone if it weren't for Rain stepping in to literally hold back the tides. Essentially leaving a giant wall of water to tower everyone on the shore. However he couldn't hold back all of it as some waves still managed to slip through his grasp, but less severe to the tsunami in comparison. Rain's entire body strained from the amount of magic he was exerting. The former High Mage pushed back against the waves, wondering if the force and power in these waves were your doing a byproduct of the monster you summoned, or some twisted combination of both.

Shao and Reiko are watching with surprise at the monstrosity you summoned to defeat Onaga. Both the rebel and imperial army stopped in mid-battle at the horrific spectacle, with vultures and sea birds alike circling above them to either flee or pick at the fallen.

"What sorcery is this, General?" Reiko inquires, as he watches the Dragon King he nearly died trying to semi-tame crush whatever is under the waves with his feet, only for more tentacles to arise from the ocean to wrap around Onaga's limb. Both them and the gigantic whirpool threaten to pull in the Dragon King and never let go. General Shao pulls out a telescope from his belt before directing his second in command to look through it. "Who else but that sea witch?" Contrary to Y/N and most misinformed fools `would believe, General Shao did not receive the rank he did by brute strength alone. No, it took a good amount of strategizing and his knack for reading his enemies to rise through the ranks. This is why Shao's blood-red gaze falls on to your distant figure that's faced towards Onaga and the other creature. You make grabbing motions and the beast wraps its tendrils around the Dragon King, you swipe with your arm and so do the tentacles. Onaga retaliates by letting another devastating blast of fire to the clinging tendrils, which causes whatever lurks under the ocean to let out an earth-shattering shriek that could only be rivaled by the late Sindel.

With Shao having figured out that you're the one controlling the Kraken, the former General concludes with Reiko that you had to be taken down. So they send half of their remaining forces to your location, who soon run into trouble as the tentacles from the Kraken breach through the suspended tsunami to crush, smash, and wipe away the approaching rebel army as if they were ants. As if that wasn't bad enough, the fallen including soldiers from the imperial army, are absorbed into these tendrils to disappear under the surface.

This did not deter either General Shao or Reiko as they sprinted through the battlefield, flooded with blood and the torrent sea. They clawed, scrapped, and fought their way through the ocean tainted with blood and cut down any tentacles that dared come near them.

Meanwhile, your group, headed by Ashrah, attempts to get through to you and beg you to stop from finishing the forbidden ritual. Yet, their cries are lost in the howling winds as you raise your darkened arms to the sky and voice loudly. You didn't even spare them a glance when Ashrah and Raiden attempted to fly to your position before you used your magic to create doppelgangers made of water to stop them. You essentially force everyone to fight against their watery reflections that copy them move for move.

Your plan worked as the Kraken, in all its terrible terrible horror, rises from its maelstrom. The entire island seems to tremble from just the Eldritch horror's full awakening.

The Kraken lets out another shriek, as if in victory for being summoned again before it then attempts to tear into Onaga. The Dragon King literally locks horns with the Kraken with smoke bellowing from his mouth, not ready to admit defeat just yet.

On the shores, a good distance from the battle and out of your line of sight, those you thought perished finally make their way to shore. Although, their entrance wasn't quite smooth or easy as they nearly crashed on the jagged rocks lining the shore.

If it weren't for Jerrod's telekinetic ability creating a protective bubble around them, he, his daughters, Tanya, Syzoth, and Baraka would've been claimed by the waves. It's also what saved them all from becoming burnt corpses at the bottom of the ocean from Onaga's fire.

Although this miraculous save may not be so much of a miracle, they watch the catastrophe unfolding before them. Baraka's eyes instinctively scan to find you, almost unable to recognize your warped appearance resembling a creature from the deepest parts of the ocean. You were still dancing and singing, the eye of storm unfolding.

This would be pretty early on in Nashira's career as a mercenary, maybe a year or two in, where things were a bit simpler. Things were finally starting to look fine: a steady flow of income, words of her work were going around so she was getting more work and people looking for her to get some jobs done, but as the song says, "luck" doesn't last long and the wrong people will eventually catch up to her. And it did.

I won't get much into it, but from long story to short: a group of corrupted Flaming Fist guards burned her right hand severely when expectations were not met.

It's pretty simple: Nashira's work as a mercenary isn't clean. While there are a wide range of things she'll do, as long as the price is right, her work tends to be somewhere in the assassin/sabotage/thievery field; things you will normally see a mercenary do. It's not made for those with a weak mind, like how drinking dirty water would make someone with a weak stomach sick. But someone with the strongest stomach can still get sick from dirty water.

Again. Going back to Nashira's mercenary life...and how others view her. It is obviously a dangerous work and one has to be crazy and reckless to put your own life in danger. It's also disorderly because who's always the one that cleans up the mess that gets left behind? Not Nashira.

Two people from different worlds coming together through an unusual circumstance...then parted ways.

The love. THE LONGING. The desperation to touch and feel and being with the one you love again...Nashira chose to let Lae'zel go to fight in the war against Vlaakith. Keeping her here on Toril would seem like a punishment, or a life that feels ever so unfulfilled; Nashira knows Lae'zel isn't going to be happy if she were to stay instead while her people are fighting in a war that can last multiple lifetimes. It hurts. She had been alone for a very long time, choosing to sleep around with others then leaving the next day than making an emotional and intimate connection.

Until Lae'zel came into her life.

Nashira isn't sure what made Lae'zel different than the others, what they shared started off as casual sex. She's sure Lae'zel felt the same way as well, but doesn't know why she feels the way she do as well for Nashira. Still, it's a question neither of them really think upon further because what they share is still real and that's what matter.

Then it all ended.

Nashira realized being lonely isn't all that fun. The others - friends she'd made along the way - are off doing their own things. She went back doing mercenary work. It's a life she always known. Contentment is what she feels, but not happiness because there's a void in her heart that no rewards she'd reaped can fill.

This would be a follow up to the "Their Closest Relationship" section because the progression of Nashira's story I have in mind after the game is where she'll eventually reunite with Lae'zel and join her in the fight against Vlaakith, but that's a WHOLE different story where a telling would definitely require more than a simple tag game to tell.

Do you have any tips for someone who is trying a more realistic aproach for their art style? your painting and lighting are so good that I had to ask 🤠

So this question is actually pretty hard to answer, mostly because I still consider myself a beginner/hobbyist, and I'm pretty sure a lot of my technique comes from the ~5 years of classical art training I received in middle school and high school, and that's so fuzzy I can't tell what's intuition or muscle memory! I can go over some of my workflow/thoughts though and hopefully some of it is useful!

The first thing is that for realism, You. Need. References. It is impossible to replicate the level of detail in a realistic painting without a reference. I usually pick a reference, try to draw that reference exactly, and once I have the proportions correct, I'll change it to match the character/scene I'm drawing (move an arm, tilt the head, add a hand, make the eyes bigger, add anime hair etc. haha). Over time you'll get more comfortable moving away from a specific reference and piecing together a bunch of references into something more unique.

Here is an example of a recent post that was fairly simple. I take the reference image (link to reference here) and try to match it, and then I change it to match the character details, in this case, Kashimo.

As for the lighting, when I first started, my colors were a mess! I already know basic color theory which helps, but it didn't help enough haha. What I think helped me learn the quickest was color picking - in krita you can select a color directly from an imported reference figure. So I'd find a reference that I really liked the lighting on, and color picked from it while paying attention to the actual color I was grabbing (how warm it was, gray it was, what the typical skin tones were, etc).

Later on as I started to learn what types of color palettes I really liked working with, I'd open the reference photo in Krita and tweak the image's contrast and sometimes completely change the lighting and colors. However, at some point I started using it as a crutch and my skills stagnated, so you need to be careful! However, now I've progressed to the point of doing a painting in black and white and adding the colors later (with no color picking!), sometimes even without a reference for the color. This was a slow and painful process, so don't expect things to make sense overnight!

Also, don't forget that you don't have to make the colors perfect in one shot. Usually I'll color things using a color layer with minimal detail and basic color tone (Itadori's hair is soft pink, his hoodie is bright red, etc), and then create shadows and lighting with multiply and overlay layers (blues and purples for night, etc.). Eventually I'll build up the color and merge all the layers together, and then add details in full color. I can color pick from other parts of the painting to maintain consistency. Then to finish things off, I almost always tweak the colors and contrast using filter layers.

Here is an example from that same Kashimo painting, going from black and white to full colors using color, multiply, and overlay layers, and then ending with full color details.

As a side note, starting out in black and white can make things so much easier. When you're only worried about values, you can really focus on shadow depth and the shapes of things. It's so much easier to explore rendering when you're not trying to do color on top of everything! Don't try to do everything at once.

The rendering style I use is based heavily on trying to replicate the feeling of actual oil painting. I use the (free!) art program Krita, and my favorite, most used brush is from a free pack I downloaded from deviant art (here). I use the brush called R T Masked4 (shown below) for basically 90% of any painting I do. I use about 4 brushes total on a typical painting (R T Masked4, that same brush but tweaked to be narrower for hair details, a smudge brush that I discovered maybe 10 days ago that I'm now obsessed with, and sometimes a scratchy brush for additional texture).

One last thing - don't be afraid to use tracing! Block in a reference photo to get the head and shoulders in the right place!! Trace a few hands to see how it feels!!! Obviously don't trace somebody's art and present it as your own, and it should only be rough approximations of shapes so you learn how to break down the body into parts. Otherwise, it won't be helpful at all. I only use photographs for tracing, including pictures I've taken of myself. One of the more helpful things I'll do is free hand my drawing and try to make it match the reference as closely as possible. Then, on a separate layer, I'll trace the reference photo (again, no details, just general positioning/shapes), and compare it to my original drawing. I can immediately see the issues, and I'll use the liquify tool to get things in the right place. I've learned that my horizontal spacing is usually pretty good, but I struggle with vertical spacing, especially on faces. So now I triple check my work for those specific things!

This kinda turned into a book, I'm sorry! I hope some of this is helpful and doesn't sound like the 10:30pm ramblings of someone who didn't get enough sleep haha.

Confession, DBH was an awakening for me. I like that they're human but they're so intrinsically not. The uncanny of looking human but knowing they're not definitely adds to it.

Just like, holding the hands of your android partner and they do the interfacing thing where their skin layer deactivates to sync with another android. In some robotic deviant way, they're trying to connect with you.

Or like taking care of them when they get damaged, being trusted enough to be able to replace the most delicate parts of them when they're injured. Or sort of like in a dbh au comic of a different fandom I'm in, their shell gets permanently damaged when they save you in some way, cracks where the skin layer can no longer form causing their white shell to be visible. It's something they could get fixed, but it makes them think of you, think of how they protected you. Tracing the cracks in thier shell with your fingers, asking why they don't get it fixed, asking if it makes them uncomfortable.

"It's doesn't hurt, it sort of messed up all the sensors there, if anything it's more sensitive to touching there..."

Looking up at them and they're flushed blue, you can feel their body getting hotter as they try to calm themselves down, if you put your head to their chest your can hear their internal systems whirring and clicking as things activate and deactivate in an attenpt to cool down the flustered android.

Just. Man. They're made to be so human like is uncanny, they can look and feel and experience life as humanly as they can, but there's something so beautifully mechanical about their base behaviours and actions. Whirring and clicking where a heartbeat and breathing would be.

I'm waffling but you get my point right? Right...?

Or or or, alternatively, being an android. I want to be one of those guys so bad. When will science let me become an AI or a robot.

I think my objectum awakening was probably planet Janet from Wander over Yonder. Though I started to realize my attraction to machines might not be normal when I saw all the humanized fan art (and machine heads on human bodies) of my favorite ai. I just never understood why people did that. They're perfect the way they are!
