---- .. Ulla Ajla .. ----
Desert Hare; Orphaned at the young age of 3 Ulla and her brother, Davaajav, knew one thing; they could only rely on each other. Davaajav scrounged for every gil (or gil equivalent) to keep Ulla from dying as the droughts and wildfires began pushing more and more people into the now cramped oasis. Growing to the age of 13 in those outskirts of the desert capital the ever growing droughts and wildfires drove Ulla and Davaajav away from the only place they ever knew. During the long and arduous journey Davaajav was kidnapped by cultists of the great flame while out hunting, leaving the siblings separated until a fateful meeting near the end of their lives.
Army of One; Ulla, freshly on her own for the first time in her 12 years, struggled to care for herself to the point of being on death’s doorstep 3 times in the year following Davaajav’s disappearance. The shortages of everything only grew worse, and with it the chaos amongst those without the means to lock themselves and their family away, leaving Ulla to finally drag herself away from the walking corpse she saw herself as. It took a while to build muscle again, barely even able to stand when she first found her first rusty sword. The weight made her feel corporeal, real, and most importantly burning with life. Once walking became easier Ulla set her sights on the final of the 3 major cities left standing, Atlantis. The ocean bastion.
Traveling alone to the western sea was not advised in the best of times, let alone in the time of the looming fire cataclysm, but that is the path Ulla chose. She had learned the tricks of survival in the once lush lands. Succulents native to the area had adapted to survive in the shade of mountains, one just had to be willing to climb to the alcoves they huddled in. That was how she survived, risking everything everyday to live.
Her fighting style was the exact same way. The shield she carried became more of a blunt bashing weapon as her style blossomed. At just 15 was able to hold her own in a fight against several adults with just her sword and shield. Winning was not important, living was as close to winning as Ulla got during the 3 years it took to reach the quickly drying sea. As she set her eyes upon the sparkling ocean jewel that Atlantis was, the Echo hit her with the force of a chocobo.
At age 18, after 2 years of working as a hired bodyguard for Atlantis, Ulla met her brother again. He had become fully devoted to the Great Flame, an extraordinary black mage burning himself alive from inside out in their service.
The Doomed Protector; The Great Flame succeeded in the summoning of Ifrit, setting their final plans on the great volcanic island. The great volcano began its eruption as the strongest incarnation of Fire and Fury, Inferno Ifrit, touched the ground. This was Ulla was sent to, a single bastion of hope amongst the fires of hell.
Inferno Ifrit managed to injure Ulla before it fell to her own fire. But she did not expect her next fight to be with her brother, the last remaining Great Flame. Davaajav pulled Ulla into a craterous cavern, down into the bowels of the volcano. With no energy left, and unable to bring herself to truly strike at her one familial relationship she had in the world. He does not afford her the same mercy, disarming Ulla as soon as he saw her doubt form an opening. She couldn't make herself speak, couldn't beg for her life to be spared by the only reason she survived as long as she did.

every single one of my favorite male characters is someone i have to take a serious look at and ask "is he okay" every once in a while just to make sure he hasn't accidentally disintegrated under the crushing karma of his actions, succumbed to the pain of an irrevocable curse, gone insane through the curse of immortality, or otherwise fallen into one of the angst traps underneath the very thin ice of comfort from the other characters that he's walking on while i was busy reading fanfics about him slipping through the cracks into those very angst traps

Doom-Wars
Contd. -
Scott Dunham, Lawrence Tylas, Anya Rodinas, and a man known simply as Boris are in Boston, secluded in an old Brownstone on Beacon Street. Publicly, they are guests of a man named David Regal; Actually, they have been summoned and sequestered there by Victor Von Doom. The former Lord of Latveria addresses the group : “All of you have joined me and my cause of your own free wills, and you have my word of honor that good will be done here – good for the people of Latveria.
“It is time now to act. We separate at this juncture. I shall continue on my own, and we shall rendezvous in Transia in three days.”
Each of Doom’s guests receives a one-way plane ticket to Transia and hotel reservations for a one-night stay at a local inn. Boris receives a map giving a location to meet Doom; written instructions with the map explain how a hidden base can be accessed should Doom fail to arrive at the appointed time – 10 PM, the day after the team arrives in Transia.
Doom warns: “My counterpart may track the ticket purchases through one of his many aliases. Do not trust anyone other than the manager of the inn, Karl Hammak; he is aware of your mission and will be beneficial to our cause without revealing your mission or your powers.”
-
As the team leaves paparazzi and eBay-autograph-hounds swarm around the actors and actresses of TV soap opera ‘Secret Hospital’. The one who draws the most attention is the famous and alluring actress/model M.J. Watson-Parker; her scientist husband shuffling nervously at her side. The troupe is also traveling to Transia for an on-location shoot for their series.
-
The person seated across from Boris aboard the plane is elderly and nervous; He is eventually approached by a tall, toned and slim woman with silver hair who coldly whispers, “You’ve been upgraded to 1st class, Herr Schwarzer. You’ll soon stand trial for your war crimes and crimes against humanity.” The woman, Silver Sable, attempts to lead him away, but the man is armed with a loaded gun and he tries to resist. As an interrupted terrorist attack unfolds, one of Boris steps in to aid and prevent any stray bullets from puncturing the aircraft.
-
A young girl is seated towards the rear of the plane, obviously nervous about the flight, and she begins constantly complaining of worsening headaches. The girl is a latent mutant, and Anya is able to coach the girl through it.
-
A small, bald man meets the group at the airport and asks to escort them to the hotel. He says he is the owner of the best hotel in Transia, with a majestic view of Wundagore Mountain. When they enter his van, it floods with amazingly intense knockout gas; the vehicle itself is reinforced with Vibranium to deter any physical escape. They had fallen victim to The Puppet Master (Phillip Masters) who once again works for Doom II. He wants to reduce the party to mindless slaves, setting them to attacking the countryside, terrorize the innocent villagers, and wreak general havoc. They are rescued by their Master, Doom I, but are discredited and ashamed.
