dottore anon here again! YOU'RE SO RIGHT, DOTTORE AS A CHARACTER IS SOO, HE'S SOOO<3 JUST CHEF'S KISS... hes such a cool villain, not to mention hes, i think, first actual real threat to the traveler. hes fascinating too, i remember how some1 said hes a living contradiction: wants recognition, but is arrogant, he wants to belong but he cant fit in, he craves love but is so cruel... just. screams. not to mention his sexy design
also, i did read ur other dott x reader works! right after finishing that manhwa au chapter i went looking for more works about dotty on ur profile hehe and they're amazing too!! it's just that that chapter has a special place in my heart<3
OH AND THAT DOTT X READER X AYATO IDEA SOUNDS SO COOL... at first i was like umm idk when i read that ayato is involved cause hes not my cup of tea, but ur synopsis got me so fascinated by it. i hope one day you'll write it<3 and tysm for telling me this too.. i feel honored. thank u i love u and i wish u plenty of inspiration for future works. kisses u mwah
i love u too and,,, i got kithes and i am sending them right back at you !!
Scara felt like a threat too but I personally was not worried bbout how the traveller would beat him BUT DOTTORE???? Oh we gon need something too special or for him to decide he wants to be defeated/wants to switch sides like,,, that man scares me !! ahn,,, the sexcy design <3333 Dottore my beloved better be playable and with good noises while climbing, lisafy that man
HE IS SUCH A CONTRADICTION I LOVE HIM. Dottore is so arrogant and talks about the TRUE values of what it means to be a scholar and a researcher but his ass was kicked out the Academiya yet he is so obsessed with it and the students of it like tighnari + nahida's whole role as someone who rules it in a way like.,, his ass can't let it go aaaa. and he has all this vast knowledge and he did what he did to extend his life yet he has no plans to learn knowledge of emotional intimacy and anything similar.
+ my fav dottore thing to think of often under the cut:
One of the most interesting pieces of lore about that ugly but beautiful man to me personally comes from nahida's story that serves as the allegory.
Tumblr media
i hope the screenshot is good enough,, anyway. He is called a lone monster and i always wonder is it the fact that he was the only one on that mission the reason why or because he feels no particular need for the Fatui. Sure the they became friends part can be seen as something just used to simplify the story but the thing is, later on he goes and removes his disguise and looks at his REFLECTION and calls himself a monster. Like, he is willing to ADMIT IT. It makes me think that what Dottore wanted was for someone to recognize him as a monster and for them to love him anyway because he was so different. He WANTS acceptance of some kind but hates when it is not the kind he imagines.
And the word SOLACE !! DOTTORE FOUND SOLACE !! when he saw this ugly kitten who was in no way a human. I partly think this was because Dottore could cling to some humanity in him that scara lacked completely but thats too.. i want to give him some benefit of the doubt that he was finally GLAD to have someone different like him; someone he wouldn't have to pretend around.
And all of this suffering he had waiting for his true reflection and all to be shown and accepted just made him MORE angry when this ugly cat had no issues with being different; when he didn't have to PRETEND to be something he isn't to be liked,,,it gives me,,, i don't know I just can't help but to cling on to this specific part when it comes to my dottore characterization and yes people can call it theory and wishful thinking but I think it will amount to a lot more.
DO YOU THINK ANYONE EVER EVER IN THEIR LIFE HAS COMFORTED THAT MAN TRULY? DO YOU?!! (goes insane)

I am sorry but venti is the weakest archon "said by many people and believed by many people...."
GIRL I GOT PROOF FOR YOU TO DEFY THIS RIGHT NOW-
*bro plays with time and black hole and space on his hand (idle animation)
*he is one of the former and oldest archons
*the only reason he let himself be kicked by la signora was not because he was like the signora simps "step on me" it was because signora's husband died in the uh war and he was the only death, or the only person venti wasn't able to save, and venti over here only allowed to take his gnosis because of that
*bro reformed mountains and land terrains for his city
*if we all remember there is a line Nahida says when the traveller asked her if she could fight her reply was "I am quite weak in my power because many people worship greater rukkhadevata, and only a few worship me hence I am quite weak, now the archon is only strong because of how many people worship them, the higher the religion, the greater their power" and if you all remember, mondstadt is the nation where everyone pray for eachother "may barbatos guide you"
And if this still isn't convincing then in inazuma everyone followed the shogun in fear and she's the "strongest" among all the other archons gameplaywise and lorewise.
*he was able to show a soul to an individual in a place he created containg no wind, and brought wind to it and it is not connected to leylines as well so according to celestia it is physically impossible to bring yourself, a normal human being and a soul there and returning with no harm in a second
*he is a shapeshifter quite litterly,
(guys I have more but I uh forgot some points)

Im stating this right now, you can QUOTE ME ON IT
Pantalone is going to betray the Fatui, and Omega is going to be his partner in crime. Prime is going to burn down Irminsul as a result to teach his clone a “lesson in blasphemy.”
By doing this, this allows a “redemption arc” that is symbolized for Dottore (which is really Omega), which leads to him being playable. With Omega being playable, they still have their notorious villain at play.

Short and lazy theory but I think Zandik/Dottore comes from Vimara village. Correct me if I say anything wrong.
Close to the village there’s the big ruin machine. As well as several reports about Zandik (which might just be because it’s close to the expedition they led back then but it reminded me about Tatarasuna and the texts about Scaramouche who lived there before joining the Fatui. Maybe since he was a child Zandik was interested in the giant ruin machine close to his home.
People in Vimara seem to know a lot about aranaras and some adults are also still sensitive to their presence? (Like Rana) Dottore knew a lot about aranara too, maybe he’s never lost the ability to dream unlike many Sumerians.
Also as far as I know Vimara is the only place in Desi Sumeru with the title village. And we know Dottore got exiled from a village as a child.

Thinking how there are two particular segments that affect the most with Fragile! Reader waking up from their coma. Of course all of them are affected by it, especially Prime, the one that had been going through all of that, but prime has the ability to move on(??) Yet the segment?? Their time is suspended at that period of time whichever era of life Prime created them, after all different ages, different eras, different wisdom. So there's two particular segments that got hit the hardest with Fragile!reader waking up.
1. The Akademiya segment: the one that sees how strong reader are, the one that is stronger than he is. The one that sometimes has to carry him out of any fight that he got himself into. The one that is doing the heavy lifting between them. The one that carried him like a sack of potato while running at full speed because they accidentally triggered many ruin machines. That person reduces to this sickly person that on their worst day, can't even carry a pen.
2. The one that tastes the failure segment: this is the Dottore that tastes his failure, failure to figure out what's wrong, failure to cure Reader before their illness spiralling and becomes worse. The taste of failure from reading negative and failed results of his research about reader illness. The failure of coming with an empty hand searching what is the cause and cure of reader's illness. And the first one that had to endure that cold and quiet loneliness. The one that had to endure no one replied or got into his personal space, the one that used to be greeted by the silence. Finally got the reply that he long for. Imagine this dottore develops a habit of talking his thoughts out loud to fill in the silence. And one day he is just wondering out loud about some Fatui's work while taking care of reader, and reader thought he is talking to them so they reply and the speed of his head snapping to face reader is worrying
It just them 🥲🥺, i think after reader warm up to the segments, and the segments are sure their presence doesn't make reader nervous anymore, i think this two is the most clingy.
(im so sorry this is very long 😔😔 but them... Hmmmrghh)
OMG IM CHEWING ON THIS LOVINGLY... AHHH YOU'RE SO RIGHT!! Having such vivid memories of the old you is both a blessing and a curse for the Akademiya segment. Because he can clearly remember how beautiful you were, how you shined so brightly without a care. Your exceeding strength as you nearly put people in a hospital for making fun of him (numerous times). Him making you carry a bunch of equipment and books for the expeditions. You perfectly fighting off enemies for him every time while he looked on. You carrying him out of there when things got too serious despite his protests to investigate more. (You picking him up bridal style and him fighting and flailing in your arms as he fought you.) You being so lively and happy, pulling and dragging him along wherever.
But those days were a mere memory now, a reminder of the past that will never happen again. As you were now just a shadow of your former self. Never to be seen again, no, not with how weak you were now. Although you seem to have accepted your fate, even though it hurts you greatly. But this segment can't do that. He can't help but think of the old you. The way you gently tug on his hand now, compared to how you used to yank on it nearly making him trip back then. He will never forget.
AND OMGOMGG hold on... you've actually given me a ton of brain rot with that segment. I never thought about it before, there being a whole period in Dottore's life where he truly feels like he's failed, that nothing's working, that you'll be sleeping and ill for the rest of eternity. Perhaps because he exudes such confidence all the time, but maybe there was a time he cursed himself greatly for failing you. This segment's memories are full of failed experiments and torn notes decorating the floor. Your sleeping face burned permanently into his mind. The silence is all he can hear, but your voice rings in his head, although he knows it's not real. Your cold hand is the only texture he remembers. This segment especially doesn't like to be around people. Among the agents, he's known as the strangest, as he never acknowledges them, not once. Not having the time or energy to care about anyone else besides you. Despite the segments not needing sleep, he always seems tired and gloomy, probably because that was what Dottore was like at that stage. When you finally woke up, he had a hard time believing it was real, because of how long he waited. Despite his longing for you, he has a hard time showing it, unlike the very grabby and touchy tendencies of the other segments. Tends to stare at you and watch for long periods of time rather than do anything about it.
You certainly don't mind their clinginess. It's rather cute. But, you can't help but feel a bit bad for causing them such pain. You give them lots of kisses to hopefully remedy that.

Zandik, Sohreh and the Rishboland Tigers
Hello! Last night I began to think about Dottore just before falling asleep and now I'm back to write about something that's been bugging me for ages. This shouldn't be too long, but knowing myself I'll take it way too far so...!
Anyhow, every Dottore enjoyer knows of the Zandik's Legacy notes, and I'm sure everyone has their own theory on what happened between him, Sohreh and the investigation team he was with on Devantaka Mountain (if I remember correctly). Most people argue that he killed Sohreh just for the sake of it and lied about her being attacked by a pack of Rishboland Tigers, but I'd like to argue otherwise - she was attacked by the tigers first, and Zandik put Sohreh out of her misery as an act of mercy.
First and foremost, it's important to mention that Zandik and Sohreh, despite not having much in common (different Darshans, differences in their personalities etc) seemed to get along decently well. As written in Sohreh's Note,
"...Zandik and I discussed the traits of local plants and animals. We also exchanged views on their evolution models. We had a great time and decided to go on a picnic tonight..."
Despite their differences, Zandik made the effort to have a conversation with her and for him to agree to a picnic (hey, he could have offered first, you never know) means only that he was genuinely interested in Sohreh; if you have read my previous analysis about Dottore, then you might remember what I said about him and his loneliness and longing for companionship. If not, I will explain briefly: Zandik was rejected by his peers in the Akademiya. A monster, a madman, they deemed him, and it's easy to guess that he was very, very lonely. People were prejudiced against him, but here comes Sohreh - a Dastur who not only ignores the rumors about him, but is kind enough to talk to him, to want to see him more often. That must have been incredibly foreign to Zandik, who up until then had only known rejection and solitude.
With that said, why would he kill a girl?
Before I continue, I would like to note that we do not yet have a definitive timeline of these events. I am merely speculating based on what I know, so keep that in mind! I could very well be wrong when Dottore is released as a playable character and his Character Stories tell the true version of these events... anywho.
From reading the Ragged Attendance Record, we can understand that Zandik stubbornly acted by himself without caring to ask for permission:
"...Trainee Dastur Zandik has acted without authorization for the third time... It brings unpredictable risks to the investigation team... Punishment is advised..."
We know that Zandik meant to keep his research into these Ruin Machines secret; after all, investigating anything related to the fallen nation of Dahri was considered taboo back then.
The record continues,
"...Dastur Sohreh of Amurta has been critically injured under the attack of Rishboland Tigers. In need of first aid..."
Just what happened? It's unclear how she got injured. Can we assume that these records were written hours apart, perhaps? If so, assuming that Zandik had nothing to do with her injuries, how would he react to Sohreh getting hurt?
Moving on to the Sumeru Investigation Team's Note - this was very likely written after the Ragged Attendance Record, considering what we learn in it. It says:
"...Thank goodness, Zandik reacted quickly. Otherwise, the whole team would be in serious trouble...
...The terrifying killing machine has stopped. Zandik insisted on bringing it back to the Akademiya to be disassembled and reverse-engineered. That was absolutely ridiculous! Sage Sharnama reprimanded him and removed him from the author list.
...We buried Dastur Sohreh and sent the wounded back. Looks like this field research has come to an end..."
If we go over it line after line, we learn the following:
Zandik likely deactivated the Ruin Machine that attacked the Investigation Team. He must have gathered enough knowledge at that time to know how to deal with them himself; he also exposed that secret knowledge to the rest of the group, which only helped in strengthening the prejudice people had against him. Considering he acted so quickly, it must have been an instinct for him to solve the problem by himself/save the others.
The fact that he insisted on bringing the machine back could have played a role in the very reason why he got expelled from the Akademiya. This entire event could also be why studying mechanical life forms is now banned in Spantamad, which I believe to have been Zandik's Darshan.
Sohreh was already dead at that point, or she died shortly after the Ruin Machine attacked the group. Funny that they just buried her in the wilderness and left...
This begs one question: when would one even have the time to kill Sohreh? She was first attacked by a pack of Rishboland Tigers. Then, a Ruin Machine accidentally got activated, which Zandik quickly stopped, and there were even more people wounded - likely due to the aforementioned machine (oh, and if so, this might imply that Zandik hesitated to act). Of course, it could have been anyone else that choked Sohreh to death. It could be that someone just put the blame on Zandik because he was so hated. But if we are to assume that he and Sohreh shared some sort of bond, then perhaps he did it himself.
Indeed, for she was already terribly wounded. This is what the Dissection Records say about Sohreh:
"...The deceased...Dastur Sohreh... Multiple trauma wounds... Lacerations... contusions on internal organs... hemorrhage... ...But the fatal injury is the wound on the throat... fractured hyoid bone... Mechanical asphyxia... unable to ascertain the cause of death..."
So all makes sense - I don't even need to spell it out. What I should say is another thing; ignoring the messy timeline and half-assed guess I made about the chaotic events that took place that day, I should return to Sohreh and Zandik.
Zandik - rather, Dottore - is not an actor. He does not pretend to be someone he is not, and Escher doesn't count because that was for a mission. Aside from being a bit polite with Nahida, Dottore never, not once, pretended to be nicer than he really was nor shaped his identity a certain way to make it easier to digest for others. Think of webttore - an openly short-tempered and brash man with a complete disregard for how others perceive him. That's Dottore, and by extension, Zandik. Sohreh wrote that he was rigid - would that not be a trait one would hide if they wanted to put up a front? Moreover, Zandik would have no reason to fake being nice with Sohreh. There was nothing she could realistically give him that he actually wanted - nothing if not acceptance and friendship. Knowing Dottore and his buried want for companionship, Zandik must have been entranced by Sohreh's kindness and curiosity. That must have been rare for him to receive, having already been chased out of his hometown and openly rejected and shunned in the Akademiya.
Say they went on that picnic and found more things to bond over - would it not make sense that he would be the one to show her mercy? Sure, strangling someone is not painless; he could have lacked other options. Perhaps she asked him to do it, or he felt as if he had to - she was bleeding out and helpless in the wilderness, without access to medical aid. Zandik could have thought that she wouldn't make it and took pity on her. Or... well, who knows.
I don't know. With such little information, it's difficult to make out a clear picture of what could have gone down. What I do know is that killing her just for the sake of it makes little to no sense. Dottore is resourceful and only does things that benefit him and his research. How would killing a Dastur of a Darshan that he did not belong to help him in any way? People already despised him and he wouldn't so openly risk getting expelled and losing any means of conducting research. It just doesn't feel right to me, y'know?
Anyway, that's yet another convoluted Dottore theory from me. Remember: I myself am not very confident in it. I had only my own audacity and 4 tiny notes to write this, so! Anything could have happened with Sohreh - this is just my take on it. It's the one I prefer, anyway. I'll humanize anyone looool
Thanks for reading!

I feel like if Dottore is Zandik, there is a big possibility he was set up as Soreh's killer.
We've seen plenty of corruption in the current Akademiya, imagine how much worse it was back then, and then how much it would affect him that once he started opening up to someone, they get killed and he's expelled.
He's also not a sadist but someone who believes the end justifies the means, so it wouldn't make sense for him to be the killer.

Guys, I have a theory
So, i've been doing research into genshin's fatui. More specifically, what they're based off of. Each harbinger is named after a member of the Commedia Dell'Arte, an Italian comedy. However, the interesting thing is, the characters in the comedy and the harbingers are sometimes very different. But then I realized that the comedy characters are actually meant to represent the archons.
Exhibit A: Arlechino. In the comedy, Arlechino is a really stupid, funny slave. That is nothing like Genshin's fatui. However, part of Arlechino's thing in the comedy is dances. And, if youve played the story, youll know the whole Fontaine archon quest is centered around Furina's dance.
Exhibit B: Dotorre. Dotorre's whole schtick in the Commedia Dell'Arte is that he's a scholar, but he has no idea what he's talking about. Similar to how Nahida might be the archon of wisdom, but she has been trapped for 500 years, and knows very little of the real world.
Exhibit C: Tartaglia. In the comedy, Tartaglia is known for being hard to understand when he talks. Does this remind anyone of, as venti calls him, a "brutish blundering buffoon?"
Exhibit D: Signora. While she might be just a girlboss in Genshin, she is a little different in Commedia Dell'Arte. In the comedy, she is known for being greedy, needy, and self-centered, similar to how Yae Miko describes Raiden.
This theory could very easily be wrong though, so let me know your thoughts.

Diluc & The Power in Nod-Krai
The Fatui's rulers, the Harbingers, monitored Diluc's progress from the shadows. The prowess with which he laid waste to numerous Fatui strongholds caught their attention and forced them to take action. Diluc narrowly escaped death at the hands of the Harbingers thanks to a third-party observer from the north, who was part of a vast underground intelligence network. The observer claimed to have been watching Diluc for some time, and approved of his methods. After his close encounter with death, Diluc took a long hard look at his past and the anger he had harbored for so long. Acknowledging his shortcomings, he decided to join the underground intelligence network. Just like when he first joined the Knights of Favonius, Diluc committed himself fully to his work. His talents and skills saw him rise steadily through the ranks into the upper echelons of the network. The network was made up of volunteers, and many of its members had willingly given up their prior positions and reputations to join. Some had even abandoned their names. Diluc - Character Story Four
I've long wondered what this third-party intelligence network in the north could be. For a while, I considered the Treasure Hoarders the most likely group, because of the way Kaeya uses them for intelligence. But after the On The Trails of Behemoths event, I'm convinced this group is one in the same as the "organization whose details may not be disclosed" the Traveler gets commissioned to collect data for in the event.
[This could be the Voynich Guild- Paimon's line about Helka's practice of note-taking certainly matches the famed Voynich Manuscript. "Speaking of, you were taking all those photos and drawing in your notebook while (Traveler) was fighting. It all looked pretty professional!" But for the sake of the post, it doesn't matter.]
Mavuika acquires 'intel' about the phenomenon in the sky seen above the Stadium of Sacred Flame.
"Such fragments are known as 'Ancient Moon's Remnants,' relics of Secret Source technology from the era of the Ancient Dragons. Coincidentally, a small squad of Fatui infiltrated our borders around the same time it appeared. Our investigation revealed them to be the subordinates of The Doctor. Their stronghold is in Nod-Krai, a land with a long history not far from Snezhnaya. The people there can use a very special power. It is said that this mysterious power predates even the seven elements of Teyvat."
Now, I want you to recall what phlogiston is. Yohualtecuhtin, Lord of the Night says, "Phlogiston is Teyvat's primordial form of energy. The Heavenly Principles used phlogiston as a basis for the creation of Elemental energy... to develop a power to better counter the Abyss." She continues, relating to the Light Realm and Human Realm, "Light refracts into seven different colors, which we collectively refer to as a rainbow. Elemental energy is a similar concept. It's essentially the modern counterpart of Phlogiston…"
We know from the AQ that the Fatui have been covertly researching phlogiston when we raid the Phlogiston Extraction Research Center, and it doesn't seem likely to be Capitano at the head of this. It might be Pantalone- Citlali's SQ shows that Fatui under him are active in Natlan- but I think it's Dottore, matching what Mavuika mentioned regarding the Ancient Moon's Remnants.
What's the primordial sea then? The Lethe to our Phlegesthon? The "cosmic ocean" mythological motif is known to frequently feature the struggle between fire and water, so primordial seawater may only be half-made of our water equivalent. In the "Diary of a Soldier Abroad" we find in the Phlogiston Extraction Research Center, we see our soldier contrast boring phlogiston with Fire-Water; clearly, this is meant to be vodka, but it might make an interesting allusion.
Dottore & Phlogiston are connected. Dottore & Nod Krai are connected. Diluc and Nod Krai are connected. Before I string these all together, let's talk about Divine Nails.
Divine Nails are dropped by Celestia to purify Abyssal corruption, as evidenced in the lore of the Staff of the Scarlet Sands, the Amethyst Crown, and in Nahida's SQ. She says they have "the ability to purify and stabilize powers that shouldn't exist in Teyvat." and speaking on the Oozing Filth, says "Forbidden knowledge that its light has shone upon is kept here forever in a different form…"
Let's keep track of our motifs here- this is Dvalin's tear before and after the Traveler purifies it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There's the Statue of the Seven before and after activation
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We have Deshret's Primal Embers and Primal Torches
Tumblr media
Then there's the Lumenstone, and the Oozing Concretion.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"What flows within this nameless, voiceless azure crystal? The secrets of the heavens? Or the whispers of the abyss?" - Lumens: Stone of Light
The Chinese name for the Lumenstone shares the name of Pyroxene, a real-life groups of minerals whose name means "fire-stranger", named for their tendency to appear as impurities within lava.
When it comes to the Canned Knowledge Capsules, which vary in colour based on their amount of elemental energy, the purple ones give off no such elemental signature. We also see that the Court of Desolation contains the same mud as the Chasm.
Tumblr media
"The Abyss manifests its power in a manner that is most devastating to the place in question. In Sumeru, it was forbidden knowledge. In Natlan, it was monstrous creatures." —Nahida: About Haborym
I believe that there exists a delicate balance of the "red" substance, phlogiston, and the "blue" substance we see in Divine Nails. When they're out of balance, the "red" and "blue" give us a corrupted "purple". Think the defiled statue, or the tainted blood on Dvalin's back.
And then think of Elynas' heart; Elynas' brother, Durin, also has a warm, red heart, and it's possible that other corrupted, Abyssal-adjacent dragons like Ursa the Drake have it too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dottore and the Delusion
Tumblr media
Krupp, adjutant of Dottore in his posthumous robot form
Il Dottore has two major motifs; the plague doctor's mask, and the vial.
Tumblr media
I would focus on the blue vials, which are present in both the manga and the current game. I contrast them with the red eyes he and Krupp share.
His goal in Mondstadt at the time of the manga is still being theorised on. On the surface, he seems to be only vaguely interested in using Mondstadt as a source of human test subjects, before turning his attention to the strange power displayed by Diluc. He has his subordinates attempt to capture Diluc, but they fail, and that's that.
The subtext is deeper.
He's likely the one who orchestrated the death of Crepus Ragnvindr, using his birdlike devices to draw the ire of Ursa the Drake, forcing Crepus to use his Delusion (which then backfired on him). He may have made one of his segments take the place of Eroch at the Knights of Favonius, a traitorous figure who contributed to Diluc's radicalisation against the knights. (We know Il Dottore can change his appearance from The Night-Bird Falls at the Curtain's Call)
[I think it's possible that Il Dottore is using Ursa the commit the sin of influencing human evolution, just as Jakob Ingold and Rene de Petrichor used Elynas.]
Now let's talk about Crepus' Delusion
Tumblr media
It's different from every Delusion seen thus far. The case is unique- perhaps being the Nod-Krai-specific case- and the symbol it shows is not the Fatui insignia. In fact, it resembles the alchemy crafting bench's possible representation of the planet Teyvat lies on and its three moons.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alice even uses a red version
And it doesn't seem to utilise the elements, but a purple-black fire reminiscent of the Oozing Mud.
Tumblr media
This power could relate to the Frostmoon Scions of Nod-Krai
Tumblr media
The inspirations are important here- Genshin's phlogiston is based on the real-life theory of phlogiston developed by 18th-century scientist Georg Ernst Stahl to explain combustion. In his time, oxidization were not understood and chemistry operated on an alchemical model. Similar to Genshin's phlogiston, Stahl's theory gives a solid and liquid form to the earthy substance phlogiston is paired with- terra lapidea (stony / rocky earth) and terra fluida (liquid earth), with terra pinguis (oily / fatty earth) being the combustible fire element that escapes into the air, visible to us as flame.
But as chemistry advanced, this theory was supplanted by oxygen theory.
In 1766, Englishman Henry Cavendish isolated a gas that he called "inflammable air" because it burned readily. Priestley noted that when inflammable air and common air were ignited with a spark in a closed vessel, a small amount of "dew" formed on the glass walls. When Cavendish repeated the experiment, he found that the dew was actually water. Cavendish explained the results in terms of phlogiston and assumed the water was present in each of the two airs before ignition. For Lavoisier, combustion meant combining with oxygen; however, until he could explain the combustion of inflammable air, some would still doubt his new chemistry. In June 1783, Lavoisier reacted oxygen with inflammable air, obtaining "water in a very pure state." He correctly concluded that water was not an element but a compound of oxygen and inflammable air, or hydrogen as it is now known. To support his claim, Lavoisier decomposed water into oxygen and inflammable air. Now that the composition of water was known, the last objection to discarding phlogiston could be eliminated. - The Chemical Revolution of Antoine-Laurent Lavoisier
The disproving of phlogiston theory is tied directly to the discovery of the composition of water; of oxygen, and hydrogen. The fiery, reactive element and the watery, inert element. In fact, our real-world understanding of hydrogen as the "first" of the elements mirrors Genshin's phlogiston which refracts into the seven elements of Teyvat. The simple structure of the hydrogen atom and the spectrum of light produced from it or absorbed by it helped us understand the atomic structure of our world's elements.
I think the blue substance that constitutes the Lumenstone and the Divine Nails are a sort of opposite to phlogiston, and that these two substances balance and neutralise one another, coming together to form the water of the primordial sea.

im sorry i know i should be writing reqs but i just can’t stop thinking about slightly creepy office au coworker dottore...... im horn
Tumblr media
you have a boring 9-5 job, trying to find joy in the mundane, else you go crazy. waking up to birds chirping outside of your bedroom window, the tasty to-go coffee and breakfast sandwich you always get in the morning, and your coworker greeting your still-sleepy self when you step into the office. always one to gossip, she’d motion for you to hurry up and sit at your cubicle so she can gush about whatever rumor was currently roaming the building.
“have you seen zandik lately? his temper is worse than usual! think he just got broken up with or something? honestly, i see why his partner would call things off, it seems like he’s always prioritizing work over people...” you take a long sip of your coffee, relishing in the newfound energy that flooded your system. it takes you a minute to process your coworker’s claim.
“how do you know he was even in a relationship in the first place?” you ask, scoffing in amusement at how fast her brain seemed to work; it was almost impressive, really. “well, he’s handsome, for one. and he’s loaded! i don’t understand how he can afford such a nice car with a salary like ours,” she sulks as she finishes her rambling. you take the opportunity to finish your food, setting your half-empty cup down to start prepping your workspace.
“inheritance? or he’s crazy good at managing money,” you suggest. just as you thought your coworker was about to drop the topic, she perks up and slams her hand on her desk a tad bit too loudly. “oh! or maybe he works a second job? y’know, the cost of living is getting pretty high, so maybe he has a 5-9 on top of working here!”
someone shoots her a look that says “it’s still early, lower your voice”, and she grins at them awkwardly before turning to look at you with a smile that rivals someone that just uncovered the cure to a deadly disease.
you pause your typing, fingertips resting idly on the mechanical keyboard. “why do you care about what he’s up to, anyways? usually you avoid talking about zandik or any of the higher-ups because you know they’ll probably get us in trouble,” you point out, your shoulder getting hit as soon as the words leave your mouth. giggling lightly at how dramatic her reaction was, you turn your attention from your computer to your coworker. you’re met with a petrified expression and uncomfortable body language along with the lack of natural light behind you.
“and why, pray tell, are we gossiping about my foul mood?” someone says from behind you, though you could recognize its owner anywhere. your blood runs cold— the warmth from your morning coffee having vanished from your body, not a single trace left in the presence of the office’s most intimidating employee (arguably). your coworker flashes him a wide, albeit shaky smile, and shakes her head a bit too quickly for it to be considered normal.
“n-not gossiping! we’re just concerned for your health! right?” she says your name, nudging your foot from underneath the desk. you don’t have time to decide whether you want to detach yourself from your predicament or to go along with her bullshit because zandik bends down to your level, flashing a smile that doesn’t quite reach his dull eyes as he speaks for you. “then avoid spreading rumors about my personal life, it gives me a headache,” he murmurs quietly.
you’d catch the unspoken threat in his voice if you weren’t so flustered. he was so close you could smell his cologne— musky sandalwood that made your head spin, losing whatever train of thought you had just seconds ago. “s-sorry,” you’re the one that apologizes since your coworker was frozen in fear, looking more like a deer facing headlights than an office worker.
zandik’s lips stretch wider, vermillion eyes narrowing at her before flickering over to you. you immediately look away, suddenly now noticing the sheer lack of space between you two. if what you were doing before was unprofessional, then this was beating it by a landslide. although you couldn't help but wish that he bent down to your level more often. though, at the same time, he looked good looking down at you…
he stays like this for a few more uncomfortable seconds before straightening his back and walking away, no words spoken between the three of you. your coworker exhales a breath she had been holding in, and turns to face her desk in silence.
you're left with a rapidly beating heart and the need to take a bathroom break even though you just clocked in not even ten minutes ago.

I had a dream about the majority of the Fatui Harbingers being playable, along with some details but since it's a dream I only remember so much. But I thought I'd share!
Remember, this was only my dream!! Nothing is based on concrete facts and if there are similarities it only a coincidence.
So in my dream I was bitten by a snake and had to recover at the hospital. But instead of normal hospital things on the wall there were seven posters. It was about the seven harbingers that have yet to appear/be playable minus Signora and Pulcinella. It had possible materials, release dates, weapons, bursts and skills along with a theme.
Pierro's theme I believe it's called "The Director." Or something similar, just related to being the head of the Harbingers. It said the release was version 7+ so that would mean it'll be in the Khaenri'ah chapter. His weapon was a catalyst, and he was a cryo but he doesn't have a vision. His skill was similar to Lisa's but it rains ice shards, and his burst was similar to Gepard's (From Star Rail) but it was an attack where the iceberg(?) He creates hits the enemies. I didn't know his materials so it's most likely a new enemy from Khaenri'ah.
Dottore's theme was "Madness and Folly." And for some reason he was a claymore?? I don't see him as a claymore but I guess my dream did. Release date 6.4+ so in the Snezhnaya Chapter. He's also a cryo, but with a vision. His skill was similar to Rosaria's burst, but I couldn't remember his burst, all I know is that the animation is him snapping his fingers with a smirk on his face. His materials were dead ley lines (the ones abyss mages dropped.)
Columbina's theme was either "Fallen one" or "Downfallen" and she uses a bow. I don't know her element since her playstyle in my dream was that she's meant to be physical damage and a healer. Her attacks were throwing daggers instead of arrows (Like Lyney using cards) and her skill was rushing at enemies and unfurling these sharp, white wings and using them to slice the enemies. The animation for the burst was her putting a finger to her lips and telling us to "Hush" and similar to Qiqi enemies will be marked so if you hit them you'll heal. In the background while the burst is active you'll hear Columbina singing. It said she'll be released during the Natlan Chapter, 5.8 iirc, and I didn't recognize her materials.
Arlecchino's theme was "Wolf in Sheep's Clothing." I think. Similar to the leaks she's a pyro polearm and she'll be released 4.6 as well. Her skill was like Tartaglia's, it switches polearm and her using claws to attack the enemies. Her burst was only one kind though no matter which phase, it'll be a close-up of her face and I think she said "The games are over." Or "The show's over." Before it zooms out and an explosion happens behind her. Her materials are the Fatui operative's pocket watches.
Sandrone's theme was "Cog in the Machine." And she's a sword user, but I don't remember her element. I think it said Version 6+ so her release would be during the Snezhnaya Chapter. When she gets hit, her robot protects her like Svarog to Clara in Star Rail but there's no counter attack. Her skill would be summoning her robot (the one where she sits on the arm) and it auto attacks the enemies. The burst would be her robot releasing rockets on the enemies just like ruin guards do. Her materials are what you'd expect, it's the ruin drakes' drops.
Unfortunately, Pantalone is the one I remember least about. His theme was "Mora and Power." And he's a hydro catalyst. I don't remember his skill and burst though. His release date is also in the Snezhnaya Chapter and his materials are the treasure hoarder insignias.
Capitano's theme is "Rebellion." Or "Rebel Forces." And his release is between 5.4-5.6 and he's a pyro sword user. His attacks are similar to fencing maneuvers. His skill is similar to Tanjiro's water wheel in Demon Slayer but it's pyro. I remember his burst was called "Hellfire." And it rained lava meteors like Navia's burst. His materials looked like broken swords of a new enemy in Natlan.
And that's about it! Thanks for sticking around to read all of my dream ramblings, I just thought it'd be nice to share these possible concepts!

In my head it's been around well over 100 years or so since Dottore was exiled from Sumeru, most likely more. Considering how places change, Sumeru's Akademiya must have changed too.
Jazari is allowed to explore inside the giant Ruin Machine, somewhere I assume Zandik explored as evidence of Sohreh's Note earlier on in the area. I assume that part of the reason Dottore was exiled was his research on Ruin Machines - yet now Jazari is allowed to explore with the "highest level of clearance".
Assuming all word quests happen after the main Archon Quests, then Dottore wouldn't have learned of his research because he would have left Sumeru. But if he had? I think he'd be angry. What he was (potentially) exiled for is now endorsed by the very place that sent him away from his homeland.

Which Darshan did Dottore belong to? (It’s not what you think)
The short answer: Vahumana.
The long answer: I know what you’re thinking, but hear me out. :’)
When trying to categorise Zandik’s research into a single Darshan, most focus either on the biological aspects of his research (like the Akademiya’s Eleazar hospital in Dar al-Shifa) or the technological aspects (his personal investigation into Ruin Golems) in isolation. As a result, the general consensus is that if Zandik didn’t belong to Amurta then he must have belonged to Kshahrewar – but this theory ignores both the nuance of Zandik’s research and Zandik’s personal interests.
So what, exactly, did he study in the Akademiya? Well, it’s complicated.
At some point, Zandik was a member of the “Akademiya Investigation Team” researching the Ruin Golems in both Gurabad and Devantaka Mountain. However, Zandik’s report implies that the team approached their research from a historical perspective—with the official parts of his report focusing on dating the machinery and discovering the Schwanenritter, the Khaenri’ahn knights who piloted the Ruin Golems to battle against the Abyss—rather than approaching the research from a technical standpoint. While Zandik does express interest in using some of the parts he found to repair the Ruin Golem in Gurabad, this does not seem like the purpose of the expedition and was likely why the report was eventually burned.
Zandik also participated in Eleazar research at the hospital in Dar al-Shifa, which was established by the Akademiya to study the disease. Zandik was the only person to successfully cure a patient of their symptoms. This area of his research delved into the elemental quantities of patients with Eleazar and detailed a successful three-stage procedure he devised, which involves replacing the infected limbs and organs, lowering the elemental quantities of those with the disease, and eventually eliminating symptoms entirely. Crucially, Zandik’s initial research was investigating the cause of Eleazar, which he attributed to an increased level of elemental quantities in the body. When his treatment was successful, he expressed a cautious interest in manipulating a person’s elemental content without relying on a vision.
Some time later, Zandik’s research into the causes of Eleazar and elemental content in humans eventually culminated in a trial that involved injecting people with samples taken from The Withering. It was this research that led to his discovery of the Aranara (and was likely among the last he completed before his expulsion for two key reasons: 1) the Akademiya Public Message Board notes Zandik’s obsession with the “Legend of Varuna” around the time of Sohreh’s death, and 2) his discovery of the Aranara both solidified and intensified his fervent interest in elevating humanity, which aligns with the rumours of heresy that surrounded his expulsion). From Zandik’s own conclusions (and, to an extent, Sohreh’s Note), we can gather that the intent of this research was to investigate the effects of The Withering on the human body, seemingly as part of a larger investigation into The Withering as a whole.
With this information in mind, people generally come to one of three conclusions about Zandik’s former Darshan:
Zandik performed experimentation on humans and had biological knowledge, therefore he must have been from Amurta.
Zandik had an understanding of elemental concentrations in human bodies and mechanical lifeforms, therefore he must have been from Spantamad.
Zandik researched and dissected Khaenri’ahn machinery, therefore he must have been from Kshahrewar.
However, each assumption falls short:
Sohreh’s Note explicitly stated that Zandik was not from Amurta.
It doesn’t feel accurate to call Zandik’s research elementalism or alchemy, as that would be ignoring the broader scope of his work. While it’s true that Spantamad used to also specialise in mechanical lifeforms, Ruin Golems were not automatons like Ruin Guards and were instead manned by pilots from the Schwanenritter.
Zandik did not formally research Khaenri’ahn machinery. His experiments into repairing Ruin Golems and how parts were manufactured were all conducted clandestinely and without the knowledge of the research team, so that couldn’t have been his official field of study.
At first glance, Zandik’s research seems scattered across too many disciplines to satisfyingly categorise. This leaves us at a crossroads; the general approach to guessing Zandik’s former Darshan has always been to assign a label to one of his experiments and work backwards from there – but this method always falls short of considering the sheer breadth of his work.
So let’s recap what we do know:
Zandik was part of a research team that was sent to investigate the Ruin Golems and discovered information about the Schwanenritter.
He worked in the Akademiya’s Eleazar Hospital and found the cause of Eleazar, which then allowed him to treat it.
While he ended up getting sidetracked by the Aranara, Zandik was also investigating the effects of The Withering on the human body and speculating on its composition.
From Sohreh’s Note, we know Sohreh and Zandik went on an expedition related to The Withering together for research despite being from separate Darshans.
Despite not being from Amurta, Zandik was knowledgeable enough about the evolutionary models of Sumeru’s flora and fauna to hold a conversation with a Dastur.
We’re looking for a Darshan that overlaps with Amurta, and that sends teams on expeditions to ruins? Well, there’s only one Darshan that meets this criteria – and it’s Vahumana.
Aetiology is the study of causation or origination of phenomena. Medically speaking, aetiology involves identifying the causes that contribute to the onset and development of a specific illness, as well as the reason behind why illnesses are the way they are. In other words, Zandik’s research into The Withering, into Eleazar, and even into the ruins of machines all fall under Vahumana’s discipline.
But on a more tragic note, Hoyoverse loves their parallels, and Scaramouche has always been a narrative representation of the acceptance and humanity that Zandik never received himself. Hundreds of years later, it would be extremely ironic and a little bittersweet if Scaramouche was immediately accepted into Zandik’s former Darshan as one of them when he just wanted to correct someone on Inazuman history. :’)

Genshin impact theory
What if Dottore is actually cyno's biological father this theory mainly stemmed from dottore wanting to ascend humans to that of gods and cyno being infused with godly remains
The doctor is not the most moral person, It's possible that he had a son for the full purpose of trying to reach a higher form of human life.
it is theorized in the akadamyia that cyno is the desendent of king deshert if he is to me that adds even more to dottore being Cyno's father. because it would be so in character for dottore to do that. and the doctor being a scientist could've created Cyno in a lab combining his DNA with that of a desendant of or king deshret himself, maybe trying to create a segment more powerful than Prime but ended up not creating a clone but a knew person entirely.
Maybe when he reailsed that cyno didnt hold (or seem to hold) any power he decided to sell him to the temple of silence after finding out he was compatible with the ba fragments it could also explain why Cyno is so strong about justice and upholding the law, because his father is basicly the opposite of it.
adding onto this interfering with human evolution is a cardinal sin having cyno be the product of that might also be why he's also more devoted to the law than others. out of work he also reminds me a lot of the young doctor we saw in the comics. it could also explain why he knows how to seal god remains since his father was obsesed with it. it could also explain his dislike of scholars which is seen in his stories.
Cyno was also taught by a tutor he had that uncontrolled wisdom and wisdom for the sake of wisdom would lead to calamity, causing people to tamper with life and death, I wonder why he had to learn that or more accuratly why did that draw him to the matra, maybe because of his father? although it is stated that he doesnt have a lot of memories of the temple of silence (Possibly do to the Ba fragment) but he could remember stuff before that, which is probbaly why he wasnt suprised when he was told that his parent/s sold him.
And yeah it could be parents if only one is alive because of the doctor's segments.
it also doesnt help that they both have whitish hair, and that dottore is also from sumeru
but yeah that's my crack theory

Hellow :3 Hope you're doing well! I had this random thought and i can't help but share my brainstorm.
So. Tsaritsa. The Cryo Archon. The leader of the Fatui. The Goddess of Love with heart colder than ice, with no love left for her people. Or is she?
Childe confirms that Tsaritsa is far too gentle in his voiceline. Venti says that she and him were close 500 year ago, but then she cut all ties with him. These statements combined, i tend to think that after the Cataclysm, Tsaritsa has become cold due to the horrors and injustice she experienced (there is a theory regarding the book "Pale Princess and the Six Pygmies" which could elaborate on that but it's far too long to explain it here 😅). However, the Goddess of Love is still there, even if hidden deep within her.
Pehaps common folk of Snezhnaya can't see her as sweet, loving and benevolent Archon due to Fatui's dirty way of doing things. That being said, Tsaritsa could also be aware of her terrible reputation among the people which makes her embarrassed and disappointed that she couldn't follow her ideals and be a loving Goddess of Love she was supposed to be. However, if you asked the Harbingers, she is a sweetheart energy embodiment. The Eleven are her most loyal group of followers, i feel like she trust them, so she dotes on them quite a lot.
Now picture this. Tsaritsa arrives to Dottore's lab for whatever business she had to sort out with him. While the two are talking, poor Fragile!Reader stumbles into the room to sleepily announce that they are hungry and ask for Zandik to make some food, but then- oh heck. Is that the Tsaritsa? Bad timing... Terrible timing, in fact...
Or was it? Tsaritsa is confused but extremely curious. Whatever they have been discussing before is no longer important. She immediately asks Dottie who is this and poor blueberry (yeah, that's what i call him affectionately 😊) has nowhere else to go but explain himself. Fragile!Reader is just as shocked to have a sudden encounter, but for their surprise - Tsaritsa shows not a hint of hostility, anger or general disagreement. Before the reader and Zandik knows it, there is an ocean of questions leaving Archon's lips.
What's your name? How old are you? Where are you from? What do you like/dislike? How have you met Dottore? When have you met? What happened? How long have you been suffering from this mysterious illness? How is the cure creation process going? How are you feeling now? How-
For some such behavior may appear annoying and perhaps even suspicious. However, Tsaritsa's excitement to meet and get to know her 2nd lieutenant's significant other is as pure as freshly fallen snow. If there are any intentions behind her questions - it's only the good ones. How could the Goddess of Love wish harm to her Harbinger and his lover? Especially when they're such a cute couple?
Let's just say Cryo Archon took GREAT liking into Fragile!Reader. Blizzards in Snezhnaya haven't been as horrifying ever since and Fragile!Reader got to enjoy the nice afternoon walks with their lover, appreciating the beautiful scenery of endless plains of snow as far as the eye can see. Goddess of Love is well aware that couples need their privacy, so she tends to not interfere too much. However, with each visit she pays Dottore, be it for Fatui work matters or casual, she also politely asks to visit the reader. She is almost like a doting, caring mother and always reassures reader that it's gonna be okay. Dottore is her best scientist, after all! He will find a cure soon enough!
Bonus: i feel like she'd sometimes go CloudRetainer mode and tell stories of younger Zandik, when he recently joined the Harbingers (let's assume the reader was in comatose during that time).
In conclusion, the meeting was sudden, but fateful. Zandik's and Reader's relationship was blessed by the Goddess of Love herself. The bond they share is far more stronger than one may first anticipate - so strong that even Tsaritsa expressed her recognition. There was no mistaking: if they ever need guidance, she got their backs.
- 🐺
🐺 ANON I AM ABSOLUTELY REVELING IN THIS CONCEPT OH MY GOSHHHH. I completely agree with your take on the Tsaritsa I've spoken about it before about I think she was kind but had to change herself after what she experienced and also to accomplish her goals. BUT OMG. YOU WENT SO GOOD INTO HER CHARACTER. To think that she knows she has to be cold for the sake of her plan but hurting inside that she can't be the loving archon her people deserve hits HARD. Though she is quite grateful for her Harbingers, though no one could ever completely understand her pain they are the closest people to her and understand her more than anyone. New Fatui members are always surprised to see the Tsaritsa herself going to visit her Harbingers. It doesn't seem like something an Archon such as herself would do. But she does anyway.
MOVING ON OH MY MY I AM LOVING THESE INTERACTIONS BETWEEN TSARITSA AND FRAGILE READER. You always held a grudge against the Gods for being cursed with this illness. But the Tsaritsa was an exception. There was just something about her that was comforting. And relatable somehow. Even with these feelings, you would be so awkward and even a bit scared at first because all of your knowledge of her comes from Dottore. You try to excuse yourself quickly but there's no escaping at this point since the Tsaritsa's gaze is fixed on you now.
Dottore never thought he'd have to explain this to Her Majesty and for once is a bit unsure of how to phrase it but goes with the simplest explanation: "[Name] is my lover." You're sweating at this point because you've had bad experiences with Gods before but to your surprise and relief, the Tsaritsa is now rattling off questions about you to both you and Zandik. Your head is spinning by the end of it but thankfully Dottore answers most of the questions for you.
You actually feel very happy and appreciated by the Archon's genuine interest. When was the last time someone besides Zandik ever doted on you? You loved him but it got lonely sometimes. The Tsaritsa is only upset she didn't know about you sooner! At some point she shushes Dottore up and only wants you to answer her. Her sheer adoration makes you feel a bit hot and embarrassed but in a good way.
AH YESSS TSARITSA MAKING THE SNOWSTORM LESS SEVERE FOR READER 💖 Takes me back to when i did a piece like that a few months ago, because she would do that for her dear Harbinger ❤️ It makes her content to think about how you and your husband are able to enjoy her country together much more. Only thing is that the Tsaritsa's drastic change in weather makes the other Harbingers question why this is happening so Dottore should keep you hidden as best as possible from his nosy co-workers ehehe unless he wants to deal with their pestering too.
I think the Tsaritsa is really good at soothing and easing others' worry considering she is probably the Goddess of Love so she can easily see through your worries. You don't know how but when she talks you can't help but believe her. Omg not her telling on young Zandik 😭 You keep this secret to yourself considering Zandik won't tell you those stories himself. I just know she has excellent memories when it comes to the people she cares about. I can see her remembering everything and anything because she knows how easily something she loves can be stolen from her.
Gosh i love this. Most people may think that your relationship is not one of true love, perhaps fake or forced considering the kind of man Dottore is. But the Tsaritsa can easily see true love. And she'll see to it that you two stick together.
