Since I’m on a Thor Love and Thunder kick and a sucker for angst, here are some Jane Foster’s funeral headcanons
Valkyrie was waiting for Thor’s arrival, and was there to support him when he returned to New Asgard without Jane.
Thor is in a bit of shock, not exactly sure what to do with Love combined with the loss of Jane.
He’s only been to one earth funeral, so he has a general idea of what needs to be done.
Val offers to get Love settled so Thor can do what he has to. She soon gains that title of Aunt Val.
The first one he goes to see is Doctor Erik Selvig.
Erik is shocked to see him at first, he hasn’t seen Thor in 8 years. Then he realizes what happened when he sees Thor’s grim expression.
He invites Thor in for a cup of tea
The two sit in silence for a bit before Thor extends an invite to her memorial in New Asgard.
He leaves not long after.
Thor then goes and sees Jane’s other family members. He lets them know of the arrangements and to let anyone else know.
Except for one more person he has to see.
Darcy knows something is up when Jane misses her treatment.
She pays attention to the news and her phone as the days pass with no response from her best friend.
By day 3 Darcy goes to Jane’s home/lab and finds a book on Norse mythology left open.
She laughs to herself, now knowing that Jane is in good hands.
She’s watching TV when a sudden thunder storm begins outside her house, the rain beating down on her roof violently.
She knows what happened before she even opened the door. Only one thing could cause a storm this dark.
At the actual funeral…
Many show up at the memorial. Scientists from all around the world, friends, colleagues and family.
Funerals are for the living.
Pepper Potts shows up, Morgan Stark in tow.
She offers her condolences, and some single parenting advice.
They understand each other in a way.
Morgan sits with Love, showing her the best toys Earth has to offer.
Bruce Banner arrives as well. Thor doesn’t even notice that he’s no longer smart hulk.
An elderly man no one pays attention to sits in the back.
A white figure floats in the mountainside, trying to understand one of his creator’s feeling of grief.
Jimmy Woo arrives alone.
He motions to the sky when Darcy greets him.
He stands next to her the entire service. Offering his support as much as possible.
Erik gives a speech about Jane’s brilliance, how she was a fighter until the end.
Valkyrie explains that New Asgard will dedicate a statue to The Mighty Thor in honor of her bravery when saving the children.
Darcy covers a snort at the name.
Later that night, Thor gets drunk after Love is asleep.
He decides he must honor Jane with a tattoo as well.
This isn’t the only version of him with the tattoo.

You try and get over Bucky with a sexual intervention.
Word count 3.2k
Warnings: jealous Bucky Barnes, original character (please feel free to imagine Alexander Skarsgård when reading the character of Erik), some Russian spoken between Bucky and Nat, Nat being the best bestie
Tumblr media
“You know what you need?” Wanda shouted over the loud music, looking directly at you.
“What’s that?” You answered, equally as loudly, taking a sip from the cocktail in your hand.
“To get laid.”
The way that you choked on your drink was undignified and most unlady-like.
You glared at Wanda and at Natasha who was sitting on a barstool opposite you smirking. Wanda patted your back, sympathetically. They had convinced you to come out with them to the local club, where the music was pounding and the lights were dimmed and you didn’t have to think about your emotional problems. Surprisingly, the thumping music vibrated through your body, calming your mind. The alcohol also helped!
“Was this your idea?” You demanded from the red-head who merely shrugged in response.
“Cricket, honey, your aura needs a good cleansing.” Wanda fanned the space around you, trying to pick off the gremlins that only she had the ability to see.
“Yeah, maybe having some good D will help you get over these ridiculous feelings.” Nat may have spoken quietly, but you caught every word.
“Fine, make a suggestion.”
That got Wanda and Nat’s attention, their eyes lit up like two little girls who had been promised ponies for their tenth birthdays. Immediately they started conspiring and assessing the options so you wouldn't have a chance to change your mind.
You glanced around the joint, it was filled with people you recognized, if not by name, then at least you'd seen their faces in passing or at briefings. The compound wasn't so far away from the city but the location was remote enough that the traffic on the roads was mostly caused by commuting members of the S.H.I.E.L.D. organization. Unlike most of the Avengers, they weren't offered automatic room and board. But it did mean that a large number of people congregated in the local watering holes to let off steam.
You let Wanda and Nat drag you onto the dance floor, where the bass thumped in time with your heart. You let yourself get lost in the music, letting go of your worries and inhibitions. The alcohol had loosened you up, and you found yourself dancing with a stranger, their hands on your hips as you moved together in perfect sync.
As the night wore on, you found yourself laughing and chatting with different people, enjoying the attention and the thrill of the unknown. It wasn’t something you normally did, preferring the comforts of home and the company of your inner circle. But everything changes and sometimes you are forced to change to adapt to the direction life is taking you. Wanda and Nat watched from the sidelines, nodding in approval as you let yourself be swept away by the moment.
Just as you were starting to feel a little dizzy from the drinks and the dancing, you felt a tap on your shoulder. You turned around to see a face that made your heart skip a beat. He was handsome in the most boring, traditional way… at first. His tall stature and toned figure towered over you in a way that made you feel small, but his eyes provided a sort of balm over the rest, endearing you to open up to him.
“Hey,” he said, his voice barely audible over the music. "I've been wanting to talk to you ever since you walked in here with your friends. Can we go somewhere quieter?"
You nodded, feeling a rush of excitement and nerves as he led you away from the crowd and into a quieter corner of the club.
“I’m Erik.”
“I’m-”
“Oh I know exactly who you are. My father talks about the Avengers a lot,” he laughed, mirth spreading across his handsome features. “You guys saved him from a number of mishaps.”
“Your father?”
“Erik Selvig? I’m Erik Jr.”
“Wait, you’re Dr Selvig’s son?”
“Guilty!” he shrugged. “Hope that doesn’t affect your opinion of me.”
“Are you kidding? Your father’s a genius! I have so much respect for him.
Erik smiled, relieved by your positive reaction to his father's reputation. The two of you continued to chat, finding common ground in your shared admiration for science and the work of the Avengers. You discovered that he was in town for the next few weeks relaying his father’s research to S.H.I.E.L.D.. You found yourself opening up to Erik in a way you hadn't expected. His easy charm and genuine interest in getting to know you made you feel comfortable and put you at ease. You weren’t one for falling for a man so quickly, but for some reason Erik Jr seemed to have cast a spell on you and you were letting it weave its mystic ways around you. And as you talked and laughed and got to know each other better, you realized that maybe Wanda and Nat were right. Maybe all you needed was a different connection to heal your heart and lift your spirits.
As the night wore on, the club started to empty out, leaving just a few stragglers on the dance floor.
“Do you want to get out of here?” Erik asked, his eyes sparkling with excitement.
“Did you have somewhere specific in mind?”
“I’m actually staying in the guest quarters at the compound.”
“Perfect, because my friends seemed to have disappeared on me.” This was in fact a white lie, Wanda and Nat had simply made their way back to the car you'd driven in and texted you to say they would wait until you had a plan.
Erik chuckled, pulling out his car keys, “Well let them know that I'm happy to get you home safe and sound. But I suspect that their vanishing act was probably a very intentional maneuver.”
A smirk crossed your lips, somehow turned on by his intuitiveness. “I'll text them and let them know,” you answered, sliding into the passenger side of his dark BMW.
The ride home was spent discussing Norse myths and legends, stories you’d both been told or learned as children and how they compared to the things you had learned from Thor. The laughter and banter exchanged was stimulating but had an underlying tone of seduction that was undeniable. Erik’s hand on your knee confirmed his intentions. You couldn't stop thinking about the immediate connection you had felt with him. It was a feeling you hadn't experienced in a long time, and it left you eager to see where things could go with Erik.
As Erik pulled up and parked outside the large complex where he was staying, he turned to you, his tongue sliding over his lips and his eyes roaming over you for a moment. “So, Y/N. Do you mind if I walk you home?”
Your name rolled off his tongue beautifully, and that’s when you decided to give in. If you could hear your name leave his lips even one more time tonight, you’d be one happy girl.
“So this is me,” you smiled, suddenly feeling a little shy as you stopped outside your bedroom door.
“Wow, looks so… normal.” Erik joked, trying to get past the obvious tension you felt.
“Would you like to come inside?” You bit your lip, looking up at the handsome, giant Norwegian.
Erik’s eyes lit up at the invitation, a mischievous grin spreading across his face. “I would love to,” he replied, his voice low and husky.
You led him inside, feeling a rush of excitement and nerves as you opened the door to your room. It was a simple space, decorated with a few personal touches that reflected your personality. Erik looked around, taking in the details with interest.
“This is nice,” he commented, his gaze lingering on you. “Very cozy.”
You smiled, feeling a warmth spread through you at his words. “Thanks. It’s nothing fancy, but it’s home.”
Erik stepped closer, his hand reaching out to gently brush a strand of hair away from your face. “You’re beautiful,” he whispered, his eyes locked on yours.
Your heart skipped a beat at his words, the intensity of his gaze sending shivers down your spine. Without another word, he closed the distance between you, his lips capturing yours in a soft, lingering kiss.
The world seemed to fade away as you lost yourself in the moment, the connection between you and Erik growing stronger with each passing second. It was as if you had found something you didn't even know you were looking for, a spark that ignited a fire within you.
Erik broke this kiss with a reluctant sigh. “Look, I have a confession to make.”
Your heart sank, everything seemed too good to be true.
“I want to be honest with you before we go any further.”
“Go ahead.”
“I'm not going to be in New York for long. I travel a lot and I'm not looking for a long term relationship.”
You contemplated the proposition. For a moment you heard Bucky's voice in your head, calling you a slut. But Nat's voice was there to play devil's advocate on your behalf. ‘Girl, be as slutty as you like. Your happiness doesn’t depend on one person. Do this for you and your own pleasure, no one gets to judge you for it!’
You were your own judge, and your verdict was simple; have sex with the gorgeous man in front of you.
Little did you realize that your return home was witnessed by your best friend. Bucky was a little perturbed to see you enter your room with this handsome stranger. He stood in a shadowy corner, watching as you and Erik, laughed and talked. Bucky couldn't help but feel consumed by envy. As you closed the door, he strode back to his room, slamming his own door shut, almost as though additional physical barriers might block out the mental image of the two of you from his mind.
Unfortunately, the physical barriers did nothing to mute his hearing.
“Where do you want me?” He heard your sweet voice.
“Sitting on my face sounds like a good start.”
“What?”
“You heard me. Spread your legs and show me what’s mine.”
Bucky couldn’t believe the sounds coming from your room. They were unmistakable, as they cut through him like a knife. He felt his heart shattering into a million pieces, unable to bear the thought of you being with someone else. As the night wore on, Bucky paced back and forth, struggling to sleep, his mind filled with thoughts of you and Erik. He couldn't shake his feeling of betrayal, images of you invading his mind, filling him with an ache in his chest that grew greater with every passing moment until he thought he would explode.
How could you do this to him? How could you be so careless with his feelings?
But as he listened to the sounds of your passion through the thin walls, a different emotion began to bubble up inside him. Jealousy turned to longing, and longing turned to desire. He couldn't deny the fact that hearing you with another man stirred something deep within him.
Bucky knew he had to confront you about what he had heard. He couldn't keep his feelings bottled up any longer. He knocked on your door, his heart pounding in his chest. When you opened the door, a look of surprise crossed your face.
"Bucky, what are you doing here?" you asked, confusion evident in your voice.
"I heard you," he said simply, his eyes searching yours for some kind of explanation.
You looked down, a blush creeping up your cheeks. "I...I'm sorry, Bucky. I didn't mean for you to hear that."
He took a step closer to you, his gaze intense. "Do you have feelings for him?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
You hesitated, unsure of how to answer. But before you could say anything, Bucky took matters into his own hands. He leaned in and captured your lips in a searing kiss, his hands tangling in your hair.
With a gasp, Bucky sat up in his bed, taking short shaky breaths as he tried to drag his consciousness away from dreamland. As soon as his heart stopped pounding in his ears, he listened for other sounds around him, but there was only silence. He lay in bed, staring at the ceiling until sunrise filled the room.
*
The next morning, you emerged from your room, a smile on your face as you said goodbye to Erik. Bucky lurked in the shadows as you walked with him to the main doors. The scowl that graced his features was worthy of the Chitauri race. If looks could kill, Erik would have dropped dead on the spot.
Natasha, always one step ahead, hissed in Bucky’s ear. «Даже не думай.» (“Don’t even think about it?”) He felt the sharp pain of her pinching the skin on the back of his neck.
Bucky was taken aback. «Чё за хрень, Романов?» (“What the hell, Romanoff?”)
«Я знаю что у тебя на уме,» (“I know what you’re thinking,”) she whispered, her tone sharp.
«Что?» (“What?”) Bucky asked, confused.
«Не испорть это для неё.» ("Don't ruin this for her.”) She was gone as surreptitiously as she had arrived.
Natasha’s words echoed in Bucky’s mind as he watched you and Erik exchange a lingering goodbye. He felt a surge of anger and jealousy, but he knew he had no right to feel that way. You were free to do as you pleased, and he had no claim over you. Bucky was so lost in his own thoughts that he didn’t notice you walking back towards him.
“Hey, Buck. Are you ok?” you asked, concern lacing your voice. He seemed dazed and you suddenly felt worried that he had seen you with Erik. It wasn’t that you wanted to hide things from him, but a small part of you didn’t want to permanently close the door on the possibility of something more.
Bucky forced a smile, masking his true emotions. “I’m fine, just tired. Don’t worry about me.”
“Are you sure?” you asked, but you could see through his facade, the pain in his eyes mirrored the pain you had felt when he had told you about Priya.
“Who was that guy?” Bucky asked, throwing caution to the wind. Curiosity eating him from the inside out.
“Umm, that’s Erik. He’s Dr Selvig’s son.” You could sense the tension between you two, and it made your heart ache. You wondered what he was thinking, but you didn’t want Bucky to think you were trying to hide anything from him. So you found yourself blurting out every tidbit of information. “I met him last night.”
Bucky nodded, uncomfortably.
“Well, I’d better go… get started on those reports I’ve been putting off. I’ll see you later?”
“Yeah sure.” Bucky returned your wave with a half hearted one of his down. As you walked away, Bucky couldn’t help but feel a pang of regret. He knew he shouldn’t be upset, but seeing you with someone else made everything worse. He knew he needed to come to terms with the fact that you were moving on with your life, he just wished he could find a way to do the same. Despite being with Priya, his thoughts always came back to you.
*
It was a festive dinner with the team as they gathered to bid farewell to Erik, who was leaving New York the next day. You had enjoyed three uninterrupted weeks of Earth shattering sex and you were sad to see him leave. He was attentive and intuitive and certainly knew how to show you a good time. But Erik seemed to form an immediate connection with anyone he met and if there wasn't an expiry date on your relationship, you would worry about the depth of your connection. But as things stood, you were having a good time and didn't have time to wallow in Buckya and Priya’s relationship.
Thor had been invited to join Erik's farewell fête as a gift to the guest, and the evening started off with a lively atmosphere. Erik and Thor were having a whale of a time, sharing stories and laughing loudly, while the rest of the team tried to keep up with their energy.
However, on the other end of the table, Bucky was sulking, his mood visibly dark. Steve, sitting next to him, tried to comfort him, but Bucky seemed lost in his own thoughts. He couldn't shake off the feeling of unease that had settled in his chest ever since Erik had arrived.
As the night went on, Bucky found himself in the kitchen with Erik, who had come out to grab a drink. Erik looked at Bucky and said, "You don't seem to like me very much."
Bucky, taken aback by the directness of the statement, replied, "I don't know you well enough to like you."
Erik raised an eyebrow and continued, “For someone who doesn't know me enough to like me, you sure were staring at me a lot during dinner. Or... were you staring at Y/N?”
Bucky's eyes widened in surprise at the mention of your name. He felt a wave of embarrassment at the realization that his feelings for you had not gone unnoticed. He cleared his throat and muttered, “Her name’s Cricket.”
Erik smiled knowingly and said, "If you like her, just tell her. Life's too short for regrets."
Bucky just glowered at him, unable to form a coherent response. He knew Erik was right, but the fear of rejection held him back.
As the night came to an end and the team dispersed, having bid Erik his goodbyes, you were left alone with the tall blonde.
“I guess this is it,” you said softly, breaking the heavy silence that hung between you.
"I guess it is," Erik said, looking at you with a hint of sadness in his eyes.
"Yeah, time to say goodbye," you replied, trying to keep your emotions in check.
"I just want to thank you for the last three weeks. It's been... amazing," Erik said, his voice trailing off slightly.
You smiled, feeling a mix of emotions. "Thank you too, Erik. I had a really great time with you."
There was a moment of silence as you both stood there, unsure of what to say next.
“Well, I guess this is goodbye then,” Erik said, reaching out to give you a hug.
You hugged him back, feeling a sense of finality in the embrace. He pressed one last kiss against your lips before releasing you.
“Goodbye, Y/N.” He gave you one last smile before turning and walking away.
“Bye Erik,” you said softly.
As you watched him go, you couldn’t help but feel a sense of loneliness. Deep down, you knew it was time to move on, and as you walked back towards your room, you felt a sense of closure and gratitude for the time you had shared with Erik. He had stopped you wallowing in ‘what ifs’ and ‘might have beens’. You had been left with a sense of hope for the future, that maybe there was the potential for you to find a connection with someone special.

Dream Therapy (one-shot)
Tumblr media
Fandom: Marvel Cinematic Universe, Thor (Movies), The Avengers (Marvel Movies), Loki (TV 2021) Rating: Not Rated Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Characters: Erik Selvig, Loki (Marvel), Jane Foster (Marvel) Additional Tags: Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder - PTSD, Emotional Hurt/Comfort
Summary: Dr. Erik Selvig struggles to recover from having a god in his head. A strange dream helps him see things in a new light.
“In related news, a lawsuit has been filed by New York contractors who argue that no-bid contracts are being granted to a small number of well-connected real estate developers, following the large-scale destruction of parts of Manhattan during the alien attacks two years ago.”
Dr. Erik Selvig switched off the television.
Two years. Selvig wanted nothing more than to forget the entire thing, especially his own part in it. My unwilling part in it, he reminded himself.
He’d had two years of therapy, medications, meditation, and trying to lose himself in his work. He was better than he had been when he was arrested for running around Stonehenge sans clothing. He could at least stand to wear clothing now, but he still found it difficult to focus with his trousers on. It felt too restrictive, reminding him uncomfortably of the sensation of being totally controlled.
There was no recognized diagnosis for “possession by malevolent deity”, so they were officially treating him for PTSD. Some of it helped, much of it didn’t. He felt more himself these days, but the nights were bad. In his dreams, Loki was still there. Still threatening. Still taunting him.
As a child listening to the old myths of his homeland, he’d loved the stories about Loki, the God of Mischief. He’d been tickled by the idea that there was actually a god for that. Now, just the mention of that name could bring on flashbacks to a time when he’d been utterly consumed by Loki’s blind ambition and disregard for human life, unable to think for himself and enslaved, body and mind, to Loki’s “glorious purpose”.
He sighed and turned back to his work. He’d been at the same problem for months, trying to account for discrepancies between the standard model of quantum mechanics and the observed behavior of Einstein-Rosen bridges. His friend and former student, Jane Foster, had provided some valuable insights, but he still couldn’t make all the pieces fit.
I’m too tired for this. He shut his laptop and went through his evening routine. He took his medication, including sleeping pills, and hoped this would be one of the good nights.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
“How is your work coming along, Dr. Selvig?” Loki asked.
Selvig looked up from the graph on his computer monitor. What had he been working on, exactly? He didn’t know, but it was important. Very important.
“I…it’s…coming along,” he stammered. “Just, um, running some simulations.”
Loki glanced at the monitor. Instead of a complicated graph, it now showed a cartoon in which Garfield was taunting Odi.
“I suspect your heart isn’t in it, Doctor,” Loki replied in that quietly menacing tone he so often used. He raised his scepter. “Perhaps we need to ensure that your loyalty is still paramount?”
Selvig jerked out of the chair and backed away. “No! That’s not necessary. Really!”
Loki advanced toward him. “Oh, but I think it is.”
Selvig ran out of the room and into an endless hallway. He looked back, but Loki wasn’t there. He turned to see where he was going, and there was Loki, ahead of him, grinning maliciously. He ran the other way and back through the door, but now he was outside. It was dark, and he was in a nondescript alley. He kept running, turning a corner only to find himself at a dead end. He whirled around to find Loki advancing slowly toward him with the scepter.
“No! Please, not again!” Selvig pleaded.
Loki took another step toward him, then froze. Confused, Selvig waited for the inevitable, but Loki still didn’t move. The god was as still as a statue of himself.
“What’s happening?” Selvig asked.
“Dr. Selvig.” It was Loki’s voice, but his lips didn’t move and the voice seemed to be coming from…everywhere.
“What…what is this?”
“You’re safe, Dr. Selvig,” the voice said. It sounded surprisingly gentle. “This isn’t real. Just a dream. A nightmare.”
“Is this a trick?”
“No. Well, yes, actually. Your mind is playing tricks on you. But it’s your mind, Dr. Selvig. Nobody is controlling it now. You are free — and always will be, if I have anything to say about it.”
“I don’t understand.”
“Please look at my eyes, Dr. Selvig. What do you see?”
Selvig looked at Loki. In his eyes, he saw the malevolence, anger, and fierce determination that he remembered. “I see…fury.”
“And behind that fury?”
Selvig stepped just a bit closer, staring at the still-unmoving Loki, for the first time trying to really see him.
“I see…” he stopped, afraid to give voice to what he thought he saw.
“Go ahead. It’s alright.”
“I see…fear?”
“Yes, Dr. Selvig. Fear, and self-loathing. I was terrified — and I used intimidation to hide it, trying to make everyone around me more afraid than I was. I tormented those weaker than I was, to cover my own weakness. I wanted to rule by force and by fear, because I thought I was unworthy of true respect.”
On some level, Selvig understood that he was dreaming— but for some reason that realization wasn’t causing him to wake up as it normally would. The dream still seemed real to him.
“Why are you telling me this? Or…am I telling myself this?”
“It doesn’t matter. What matters is that it’s true and that you know it’s true. What I did to you was unforgivable. You’re a decent man, Dr. Selvig. None of it was your fault. Not even a god can withstand the power of the mind stone. Even so, you managed to sneak in an off-switch for the Tesseract’s force field while under my control. That’s a testament to your unusual strength of character and of mind. I underestimated you.”
“How do I make this stop, then?”
“That’s up to you, Doctor. Do whatever makes sense. If you want to hit me, hit me. Or vent your own rage in some other way. Here and now, you are the strong one.”
Selvig stood before Loki, hands balling into fists, feeling his own anger rising to replace the fear. Loki’s body remained frozen, but his eyes were now tracking Selvig’s every move. The urge to pummel him was overwhelming — but now that he’d seen the growing fear in Loki’s eyes, he couldn’t help but feel just a tiny bit sorry for him.
He took a step back. “No.”
“No?”
“I don’t need to hit you. That’s what you’d do, but it’s not me. Just…get out. Leave me alone and don’t come back.”
Loki simply faded away, leaving Selvig standing alone in the alley, which soon began to fade as well. Selvig felt himself floating, feeling more at peace with himself than he had in a long time. He was floating in a bed of seaweed — no, not seaweed; the long, thin strands that cradled him with warmth were glowing with a soft, greenish light, rocking him gently and lulling him into a more peaceful slumber.
He didn’t even startle when he heard Loki’s voice once more.
“One more thing, Dr. Selvig. In the morning, you may want to take a closer look at the rate of decay of particles entering the Einstein-Rosen bridge. I think you may find it interesting.”
-----------------------------------------------------------------
“Erik, hi! How are you doing?” Jane Foster always started their phone conversations that way these days.
“I’m doing great! Listen, I just sent you a rather long document, but the short version is…I think I’ve cracked it! I found a way to square the Einstein-Rosen bridge with the standard model!”
“Seriously? That’s huge! I’ll check it out as soon as I can! What turned it around?”
“I looked at the rate of decay of particles entering the stream.”
“Woah! I didn’t even consider that. What made you think of it?”
“Would you believe it came to me in a dream?”

Steve, Natasha, and Clint use the Quinjet to get to New York while you and Tony fly over there yourself. Tony's suit is malfunctioning because of what he went through in the blades of the engine, so it takes a lot longer than normal to get there. When you get to Stark Tower, you see Erik Selvig on the roof next to some contraption with the Tesseract spinning wildly inside.
"Sir, I took off the arc reactor. The device is already self-sustained," Jarvis says.
"Shut it down, Dr. Selvig!" Tony warns.
"It's too late! She can't stop now. She wants to show us something! A new universe."
"Tony, there is no point in trying to convince him. As long as he is under Loki's spell, he won't listen to reason."
"Okay."
Tony aims his hands repulsors toward the device and fires at it without knowing what it will do. The energy from his repulsors shatters with a deafening crack. Erik flies back from the impact and hits his head on the concrete.
"The barrier is pure energy. It's unbreachable."
"Yeah, I got that. We're going with Plan B."
"Sir, the Mark VII is not ready to be deployed," Jarvis informs.
"Skip the spinning rims. We're on the clock."
Loki is down below on the half-circle balcony watching you and Tony with careful eyes. Tony lands on the highest part of his balcony where Jarvis assists with removing Tony's damaged suit. Machines shoot up from the ground and stick to his suit so that when he walks, the suit comes off in pieces and disappears below the ground. As Tony is walking toward his penthouse, Loki is following all the while keeping his eyes on him. Once the entire suit is off, Tony walks to the bar in the back of the room for a drink while you stay in front of it. Your eyes haven't left Loki since.
"I see you brought a bodyguard," Loki smirks and looks at you. "Please tell me you're going to appeal to my humanity."
"Actually, we're planning on threatening you."
"Don't worry, I can take him," you glare.
All Loki can do is chuckle at your words.
"You should have left your armor on for that," he says to Tony but doesn't remove his eyes from you.
"Yeah, it's seen a bit of mileage, and you've got the blue stick of destiny. Would you like a drink?"
"Stalling me won't change anything."
"Not stalling. Threatening. No drink? Are you sure? I'm having one. You want one, Y/N?"
"I'm good, thanks."
"The Chitauri are coming, nothing will change that. What have I to fear?"
"The Avengers," Tony shrugs. "It's what we call ourselves, sort of like a team. 'Earth's Mightiest Heroes' type thing."
"Yes, I've met them," Loki looks you up and down.
"Yeah, takes us a while to get any traction, I'll give you that one, but let's do a head count here. Your brother, the demi-God; a super soldier; a living legend who kind of lives up to the legend; a man with breath-taking anger management issues; an avatar; a couple of master assassins, and you, big fella, managed to piss off every single one of them."
"That was the plan," Loki grins.
"Not a great plan," you shake your head.
"When they come, and they will, they'll come for you."
Loki turns his back on both of you, and Tony grabs two bracelets sitting on the counter that is no doubt hooked up to another suit of his. He'd be stupid to go against Loki and not wear any armor.
"I have an army."
"We have a Hulk."
"I thought the beast had wandered off."
"You're missing the point. There's no throne, no version of this, where you come out on top. Maybe your army comes and maybe it's too much for us, but it's all on you. If we can't protect the Earth, you can be damned well sure we'll avenge it."
Loki glares at Tony and walks over to him, raising the scepter.
"How will your friends have time for me, when they're so busy fighting you?" Loki places the tip of the scepter on Tony's chest to control his mind but it doesn't work. Loki tries again but achieves the same result. You smirk when you realize the thing in Tony's chest is what's protecting him right now. "This usually works."
"Well, performance issues, you know? Not uncommon."
In anger, Loki grabs Tony by the throat and flings him across the room.
"Tony!"
You run at Loki to protect your friend but Loki grabs you by the throat tightly. You claw at his hand but he doesn't budge. He tosses you to the ground next to Tony, and you hit your head on the floor hard.
"Jarvis. Anytime now," Tony coughs as he stands up.
Loki grabs Tony's throat again and lifts him off the ground. You scramble to your feet to help but Loki shoves the sharp end of his scepter into your stomach. You gasp and grip the scepter to stabilize it so it doesn't do more damage.
"You will all fall before me."
"Deploy!" Tony gasps.
Loki tosses him out the window which worries you, but as soon as one of his suits goes flying after him, you know he is going to be okay. Now that it's just you and Loki, he pulls you closer to him and twists the scepter in you.
"I know you're better than this."
Loki yanks the scepter out of your stomach and grabs your throat again, this time a lot gentler. He pulls you so close to him that you can smell his breath. How is it so minty?
"The Loki you knew is gone. We happened a thousand years ago! Give it a rest!"
"If that's true, then why am I still alive? I'm one of the only ones who can defeat you, so kill me. Take that scepter and stab it through my heart!" Loki glances at your lips briefly before his grip on your throat gets slightly tighter. "You can't do it, can you? Take a second and look at what you're doing. This isn't you." Loki looks around and for a split second, you see confusion and panic. "Who is hurting you?"
Loki shoves you away from him and you fall to the ground as your body works overtime to heal you of your stab wound. Tony flies up to the window in which he fell through and glares at Loki. Well, he has his helmet on but you can tell he is glaring.
"There's one other person you pissed off! His name was Phil."
Loki raises his scepter to attack Tony but your friend does it first. Loki is blown back from the blast, sending him on his ass. The Tesseract's energy beams into the sky which turns into a vortex which turns into a portal, much like how it did when Loki first passed through it. A hole in space rips open, and from it, the Chitauri army spills out in flying chariots, carrying energy rifles with a bayonet on the end of it.
"Right. Army."
You force yourself to your feet and jump out of the penthouse to join Tony's side. With you, he flies toward the opening so that he can destroy the aliens as soon as they come through. If he can do that, then the damage to Earth and her people will be less significant. Where Tony fires upon the aliens with his repulsors, you blast them with fireballs. The fire is hot enough to make them explode on contact. The ones you don't hit escape to terrorize the city.
"Tony, there's too many of them!"
If you keep at it, then there will be no one protecting the people of the city. You and Tony fly away from the opening of the portal and toward the city. The Chitauri unleashes hell upon the citizens of New York City by blowing up cars, tearing down stores, and straight-up blasting people who run by them.
An explosion rips out the windows of the top corners of buildings. Fire and stone rain down from the destruction of the Chitauri. No one was aware this was happening so police and soldiers from all departments are just now storming down the street in order to protect those they can. The Quinjet flies in between the buildings as you and Tony lead a group of aliens towards Stark Tower.
"Stark, we're heading northeast," Natasha says.
"What, did you stop for drive-thru? Swing up Park, I'm gonna lay them out for you."
Tony flies around his tower toward Park Avenue. Thor and Loki are fighting it out on the balcony and instead of interrupting them, you let them have their moment. Their fight causes the letters of Stark Tower to fall to the ground, and luckily there aren't any people down below to suffer for it. The Chitauri following you is getting close, so you swoop down toward an empty street only to make a hard turn upward. The Chitauri isn't anticipating your movements so it goes crashing down onto the asphalt. Tony leads a group of them over to the Wuinjet where Natasha uses the machine gun she tried using on Loki in Germany. As soon as Tony is out of
"Sir, we have more incoming," Jarvis informs.
"Fine. Let's keep them occupied."
Tony veers to the right to head back to the portal while you stay with Natasha. She flies the Quinjet over to Stark Tower where Thor and Loki are having it out. Loki tosses his brother to the side and focuses on Natasha who is firing at him ruthlessly. He uses his scepter to blast one of the wings of the Quinjet, causing it to spiral out of control. You quickly fly over to the flaming aircraft and use your air powers to guide it safely to the ground. They take a hard tumble but everyone inside is fine.
Steve, Nat, and Clint leave the jet once it's safe and join your side on the ground. The entire ground rumbles as something big is coming through that portal. You hear a deep, primal rage bellow out, and the four of you look up toward the portal. Suddenly, a Chitauri Leviathan passes through the barrier and into your world.
"Shit," you sigh.
As it passes over you, Chitauri soldiers shoot out from the side of the creature and latch onto the buildings. Some crash through the windows and start firing upon the citizens inside while others cling to the sides of the buildings.
"Stark, are you seeing this?" Steve asks.
"I'm seeing, still working on believing. Where's Banner? Has he shown up yet?"
"No."
"Keep me posted." Tony flies closer to the Leviathan. "Jarvis, find me a soft spot."
"I can turn into one of those things and fight it. If they got something that big, may as well have something that big on our team, right?"
"That's not a good idea. We'll be shooting at you, too."
A group of Chitauri come flying in on their drones with Loki on the back of one of them. They fly down the street and shoot at innocent people. Their blasts hit cars and other items causing them to go up in flames.
"Those people need assistance down there."
Chitauri soldiers land on the falling cars near you four and begin shooting at you, but all four of you are hidden behind other cars so you're not directly in their way. Natasha takes out two pistols and starts firing at the Chituari while Clint uses his bow and arrow to take them out.
"We got this. You two go!"
"Do you think you can hold them off?" Steve asks Clint.
"Captain, it would be my genuine pleasure."
He fires an arrow into one of the Chitauri that explodes into tinier ammo which hits three other aliens. That gives you and Steve enough time to jump off the bridge you're on and to the ground below. You grab his hand and lift him into the air to fly him over to the fight since it's easier than running. The Chitauri above start shooting at you but you're too quick for their blasts.
The aliens you pass by are in your line of fire, so you send sharp icicles into their chests or flaming balls of fire into their heads. You can't use your Earth powers unless you want to add an earthquake to New York's list of problems. You can't use your air powers down here because then you'd be kicking up debris and causing more injury to humans.
There is a line of officers down the street trying to do their best by shooting at the aliens as they come but they are seriously outnumbered.
"It's gonna be an hour before they can scramble the National Guard!"
"National Guard? Does the army know what's happening here?"
"Do we?"
You and Steve land on a police car in front of them, gaining everyone's attention.
"I need men in these buildings." Steve points to the buildings he's talking about. "There are people inside that are going to be running right into the line of fire. You take them through the basement or the subway. Just keep them off the streets. I need a perimeter as far back as 39th."
"Why the hell should I take orders from you?" the police sergeant asks.
Suddenly, an explosion comes from above you and Steve. Two Chitauri land on the same car you're on but they're not going to get past you. Steve uses his shield as protection and a weapon while you use your fire powers. You grab the side of the alien's head and set it on fire before kicking him off the car. Another one jumps in front of you and raises his weapon to fire at you but you grab his arm and form a sharp icicle that you use to stab into its stomach. The alien cries out in pain as you kick him away.
The police sergeant sees how well you two fought them so he turns to his men to order them around.
"I need men in those buildings. Lead the people down and away from the streets. I need a perimeter as far back as 39th."
Tony flies after the Leviathan and tries shooting it down but it's going to take a lot more than that to take it down. However, it does get its attention and it turns around to chase after Tony.
"We got his attention. What the hell is step two?!"
"I'm on my way!" you say and shoot straight into the sky.

1900 words written today -- I’m within a couple hundred words of ending this story, but if I write them tonight I’ll have to rewrite them tomorrow anyway, so I might as well cut out the middleman and wait until tomorrow. also I finished rewatching AoU: what an absolute trainwreck of a movie.
Snippet from The Horizon Line chapter 17.
Dr. Selvig and Darcy came out next, carrying their bags.  Natasha and Loki both turned towards them; Loki hesitated for an instant, then passed Freki to Natasha.  He offered his hand to Selvig. “Erik.”
Selvig took it with only an instant of hesitation.  Darcy actually hugged Loki, then had to wait until Natasha had turned the cat back over to him so that she could hug Natasha too.
“You’re both of you welcome in New Asgard,” Loki said. “Just call ahead first, or you’ll get an unpleasant surprise from the wards.”
Darcy’s face lit up in surprised delight. “Seriously?”
“Seriously,” Loki said. “I might wait until there are more than two buildings constructed – three if you count the bathhouse – but yes.”
“Awesome.”
Loki grinned, bemused by her enthusiasm, then looked at Selvig, who said, “I’d like that.  In spring, maybe.”
“In spring,” Loki agreed.
“The new year,” Steve said. “May it be better than this one.”
“Well, it can’t get worse,” Darcy said, and they all winced. “Okay, maybe don’t tempt fate.”
“Maybe don’t,” Loki said brightly. “The Norns always keep aside a few stray threads that can be woven into the tapestry of our wyrd at need.”
“I’m going to assume that means what I said,” Darcy said, “except in more words.”

Wheel of Destiny
You never know what fate has planned
Steve Rogers/Original Female OC
*Description*
Being Agent Phil Coulson's adopted daughter was just one aspect of life for scientific prodigy, Dr. Anna Coulson now that she was working for SHIELD like him. She discovers while working with Dr. Erik Selving on the Tesseract project that she seems to have a sort of strange connection with it, allowing her to crack internal code with it that no one else can. All is going well until it is stolen and Nick Fury tries to order to stay home. He laments and allows her to come on the mission because they need her to work with Dr. Banner, as no one truly knew the cube like Anna. Plus she worked directly with Selvig, she could truly be the key to locating him and the Tesseract. It was on this mission that she would come to loathe Tony Stark and come face to face with a man she'd only dreamed about meeting, Captain Steve Rogers. She found the Captain and his blue eyes even more dreamy in person. It seemed that Steve felt a spark himself when meeting the scientist who was equally as beautiful as she was brilliant, being even more impressed with how quickly she put Tony Stark in his place. Then all hell would break loose and Anna's world would come crashing down around her. In the midst of trying to save the world, she would lose the man she knew as her father. That would only be the beginning of everything changing for her. How would she cope with this great loss? Was there anything truly ahead for her and Steve Rogers, and if there was, what did fate have in store for them? Would she ever find out more about who she was and why she had been kidnapped as a child?

Portal to My Heart (Book 1) Chapter Four
Chapter Four: Feelings Inside the Helicarrier
(Y/N) groaned. The pain had returned as soon as Loki had been taken to his cage. There was nothing the doctors onboard the Helicarrier could do. She could only be left to lie in the hospital bed in a t-shirt and pants. At least being changed from the gown was some comfort. She thought she heard Thor explaining it was a spell so they couldn’t really help, but she might have hallucinated it. Either way, (Y/N) experienced no relief from agony. She wanted to try to teleport again, perhaps with the motivation of relief from pain she could activate the power. However, (Y/N) wouldn’t allow herself to become a weapon for SHIELD. Yes, Romanoff had seen her teleport, but there was a chance people thought Loki had done it, thinking he would escape. Nobody had questioned her so far. She would wait out the pain, even allow herself to die, before she let herself be pulled farther under the control of others. She would endure the pure torture. Maybe only minutes had passed, maybe hours had. She had no clear idea of time passing. Had she fallen asleep at some point? Had she just stared at the blurred ceiling? Nothing was clear. This was the longest period (Y/N) had felt the agony. It seemed interminable.
l
“So, Thor, what’s his play?” asked Captain America in the uncomfortable silence that followed Loki’s speech about the irony of “a warm light for all mankind” and “real power.”
“He has an army called the Chitauri. They’re not of Asgard, nor any world known. He means to lead them against your people,” explained Thor, “They will win him the Earth, in return, I suspect, for the Tesseract.”
“An army. From outer space,” said Rogers.
“So, he’s building another portal,” said Dr. Banner, “That’s what he needs Erik Selvig for.”
            “Selvig?” asked Thor.
            “He’s an astrophysicist,” said Banner.
            “He’s a friend,” said Thor.
“Loki has him under some kind of spell, just like (L/N) and another of our own,” said Romanoff.
“I want to know why Loki let us take him,” said Rogers, “He’s not leading an army from here.”
“I don’t think we should be focusing on Loki,” said Banner, “That guy’s brain is a bag full of cats. You could smell crazy on him.”
“Have care how you speak,” said Thor, “Loki is beyond reason, but he is of Asgard. And he is my brother.”
“He killed eighty people in two days,” pointed out Romanoff.
            “He’s adopted,” Thor relented.
“I think it’s about the mechanics,” said Dr. Banner, “Iridium…What do they need iridium for? (L/N) is too sick to answer questions, so we’ll have to figure it out ourselves…so why do they need it?”
“It’s a stabilizing agent,” said Stark, walking in with Agent Coulson, “It means the portal won’t collapse in on itself like it did at SHIELD.” He spied Thor. “No hard feelings, Point Break. You’ve got a mean swing.” He walked to the bridge where Fury would stand. “Also, it means the portal can open as wide, and stay open as long, as Loki wants. Raise the missenmast. Jib the topsails.” People stared at him in confusion. “That man is playing Galaga.” Stark pointed to an agent in the corner. “He thought we wouldn’t notice, but we did.” He covered his left eye and looked around. “How does Fury even see these?”
            “He turns,” answered Hill shortly.
“Sounds exhausting,” said Stark. He continued his explanation. “The rest of the raw materials, Agent Barton can get his hands on pretty easily. The only major component he still needs is a power source of high-energy density. Something to kickstart the Cube.”
“When did you become an expert in thermonuclear astrophysics?” asked Hill.
“Last night,” answered Stark. “The packet, Selvig’s notes, the extraction theory papers. Am I the only one who did the reading?”
“Does Loki need any particular kind of power source?” asked Captain America.
“He would have to heat the Cube to 120-million Kelvin just to break the Coulomb barrier,” said Banner.
“Unless Selvig has figured out how to stabilize the quantum tunneling effect,” said Stark, pleased to have another person understand what he’s talking about.
“Well, if he could do that, he could achieve heavy ion fusion at any reactor on the planet,” said Banner.
“Finally, someone who speaks English,” remarked Stark.
“Is that what just happened?” commented Cap.
“It’s good to meet you, Dr. Banner.” Stark shook his hand. “Your work on antielectron collisions in unparalleled. And I’m huge fun of the way you lose control and turn into an enormous green rage-monster.”
Banner swallowed. “Thanks,” he said uncomfortably.
“Dr. Banner is only here to track the cube,” said Director Fury, “I was hoping you might join him.”
“I would start with that stick of his,” said Rogers, “It may be magical, but it works an awful lot like a HYDRA weapon.”
“I don’t know about that,” said Fury, “But it is powered similarly to the Cube. And I would like to know how Loki used it to turn two of the sharpest men I know into his personal flying monkeys and why (L/N) is immune so we can make sure more agents don’t get turned.”
“Monkeys? I do not understand,” said a confused Thor.
“I do,” said Rogers excitedly, “I understood that reference.”
“Shall we play, Doctor?” asked Stark.
            “This way, sir,” said Banner.
l
“As soon as Loki took Dr. Selvig, we moved Jane Foster,” explained Coulson to Thor. “They’ve got an excellent observatory in Tromso. She was asked to consult there very suddenly yesterday. Handsome fee, private plane, very remote. She’ll be safe.”
“Thank you,” said Thor. He sighed. “It’s no accident, Loki taking Erik Selvig. I dread what he plans for him once he’s done. The young woman in the infirmary is already being hurt by my brother’s deeds. They both are admirable people.”
“Selvig talks about you a lot,” said Agent Coulson, “You changed his life. You changed everything around here.”
“They were better as they were,” said Thor, “We pretend on Asgard that we’re more advanced, but we come here, battling like bilge snipe.”
            “Like what?” asked Coulson.
“Bilge snipe,” repeated Thor. “You know, huge, scaly, big antlers. You don’t have those?”
            “Don’t think so,” said Coulson.
“Well, they are repulsive,” admitted Thor, “And they trample everything in their path.” He walked over to the windows of the Helicarrier. He gazed out at the dark world below. “When I first came to Earth, Loki’s rage followed me here, and your people paid the price. And now, again. In my youth, I courted war.”
“War hasn’t started yet.” Fury appeared on the bridge. “You think you could make Loki tell us where the Tesseract is?”
“I do not know. Loki’s mind is far afield,” said Thor, “It’s not just power he craves, it’s vengeance, upon me. There’s no pain would pry his need from him.”
“A lot of guys think that, until the pain starts,” said Fury.
“What are you asking me to do?” asked Thor.
“I’m asking: What are you prepared to do?” questioned Fury.
“Loki is a prisoner,” said the God of Thunder.
“Then why do I feel like he’s the only person on this boat that wants to be here?” said Fury.
l
Loki paced back and forth in his cell. He paused and smirked. “There’s not many people who can sneak up on me.” He turned around to face Agent Romanoff.
“But you figured I’d come,” said Black Widow.
“After,” said Loki, jeeringly. “After whatever tortures Fury can concoct, you would appear as a friend, as a balm. And I would cooperate.”
“I want to know what you’ve done to Agent (L/N) and Agent Barton,” said Romanoff.
“Everything Agent (L/N) is suffering from currently is caused by your agency,” said Loki, smirking. That wasn’t necessarily a lie. True, the spell was Loki’s fault, but her current pain was from SHIELD separating her and Loki. “And as for your Agent Barton? Why, I’ve simply expanded his mind.”
“And once you’ve won, once you’re king of the mountain, what happens then?” questioned Romanoff.
“Well, (Y/N) is entertaining. Perhaps that will be enough to save her. If she survives the excruciating pain she’s enduring, that is,” said Loki, grinning malevolently. However, a twinge of guilt at losing control and placing such a torturous spell on the girl did weigh slightly on his mind. Frigga had told him such spells were cruel. Nevertheless, he pushed the minute amount of shame away with little issue.
“And Agent Barton? What of his mind?” asked Romanoff.
“Oh, my, is this love, Agent Romanoff?” jeered Loki.
“Love is for children. I owe him a debt,” said Romanoff.
            “Tell me,” invited the trickster.
“Before I worked for SHIELD, I, uh…” Romanoff sat down on a nearby chair. “Well, I made a name for myself. I have a very specific skillset. I didn’t care who I used it for, or on. I got on SHIELD’s radar in a bad way. Agent Barton was sent to kill me. He made a different call.”
Loki nodded and smirked. “And what will you do if I vow to spare him?”
“Not let you out,” said Romanoff.
“No, but I like this.” Loki grinned devilishly, maniacally, and leaned forward on his chair. “Your world in the balance, and you bargain for the life of one person even after asking about the health of another.”
“Regimes fall every day,” said the redhead, “I tend not to weep over that. I’m Russian. Or I was.”
“And what are you now?” questioned Loki, eyes dark and shadowed.
“It’s really not that complicated.” The Black Widow stood up and walked closer to the café. “I have red in my ledger. I’d like to wipe it out.”
“Can you?” questioned Loki, “Can you wipe out that much red?” He stood and began prowling towards the edge of his prison. “Dreykov’s daughter, Sao Paulo, the hospital fire?”
Romanoff’s face fell, and she swallowed.
“Barton told me everything. Your ledger is dripping. It’s gushing red, and you think saving a man no more virtuous than yourself will change anything? This is the basest sentimentality.” Loki was reveling at her shocked face. “This is a child at prayer. Pathetic!” he spat cruelly. “You lie and kill in the service of liars and killers. You pretend to be separate, to have your own code, something that makes up for the horrors. But they are part of you. And they will never go away.” He slammed his fist against the container’s walls, his face twisting in sadistic cruelty. “I won’t touch Barton, not until I make him kill you. Slowly, intimately, in every way he knows you fear. And then he’ll wake just long enough to see his good work, and when he screams, I’ll split his skull.”
Romanoff gasped and turned her back.
“This is my bargain, you mewling quim,” sneered Loki.
“You’re a monster,” whispered Romanoff, seeming to be pushing down sobs.
Loki chuckled and grinned maniacally. “Oh, no. You brought the monster.”
The Black Widow straightened and turned around. There was no remnant of the fear or tears she had been showing earlier. Evidently, it had been an act. “So, Banner. That’s your play.”
            Loki was taken aback. “What?”
“Loki means to unleash the Hulk,” said Romanoff into her earpiece, walking towards the exit of the room. “Keep Banner in the lab. I’m on my way. Send Thor as well.” She paused for a moment and looked at Loki. “Thank you for your cooperation.” She left.
Loki was surprised. This was the second woman in a day to impress him. However, it didn’t really matter what the redheaded woman discovered. His plan would come to fruition. Loki paused for a moment in his pacing as he recalled what (Y/N) had said.
“Fear will only do so much. People will stand up to you, unafraid.”
He chuckled. He hadn’t expected her words to be proven true at all, not to mention in such a short span of time. An intriguing woman. I wonder if she’ll possess the same wit after the agony she is experiencing. And, of course, she may die in my attack. Loki stopped and almost groaned. (Y/N) could die. From either his attack or his spell on her, she could be killed. The trickster god could hear how his mother spoke to him about how curses used for torture should never be used because they are cruel. Now he was nearly killing someone with one because the scepter had once again twisted his mind. Loki needed her alive to try to discover how to break that manipulation. Plus, he couldn’t bear imagining his mother’s face of disappointment if she learned he had used a curse she had implored him never to use and caused someone’s death with it. And, he wouldn’t admit it, but he found the girl’s company…pleasing. He sensed a similarity between them, a roguish desire for a life unencumbered by outside control. Of course, Loki was only interested in keeping her around for his own power. Yes, that was the reason. Definitely.
l
Maybe I’ll never recover… (Y/N) lacked a complete sense of time, but using the little awareness she had of doctor’s changing shift, she judged it had been over a day. That meant she had suffering through this hell for an incredible period of time. It was excruciatingly painful. (Y/N) wished she could fall asleep and forget the agony for a while, but she could only rest for a couple minutes at a day, going off how tired she was. She felt weak and exhausted. She felt pathetic. She hated it.
A boom echoed from somewhere far away in the ship, and the room shook around her.
“All hands to stations,” said a faint voice of the PA.
They were under attack. (Y/N) wanted to get up, she needed to if she desired to save her life, but she couldn’t. She could just lie there and listen to the shouts and sounds of fighting that reached her ears.
Suddenly, the pain began to subside, becoming a dull ache. (Y/N) wasn’t sure whether to be relieved it was over or frightened annoyed that Loki was passing by. However, it was clear he came for a reason as she heard the doors slide open and felt the pain leave completely. Her tense body relaxed finally. (Y/N) was tired. She couldn’t bring herself to even sit up and was having difficulty keeping her eyes open.
            “Midgardian...?” questioned an imperious voice.
Through her hazy vision, (Y/N) could see a blur of green and black. Loki.
            “Get up,” ordered Loki.
(Y/N) managed to let out a faint growl of annoyance but was too exhausted to do anything else. The pain might have left, but her body was debilitated and weakened. It was all she could do to keep from passing out.
Loki sighed. “Mortals. So pathetic.” He reached down and picked up (Y/N), who had no strength to resist.
(Y/N) managed to frown and lightly hit him on the chest at the comment.
Loki chuckled and began walking out of the infirmary. “Rest. You will need your strength soon,” he whispered.
As if he had placed another spell on her (which he may have), (Y/N)’s eyes closed, and she fell unconscious.
Loki walked out to where his brainwashed men waited. He entered the jet, smirking as they took off without an issue. He set (Y/N) down to the side and picked up his scepter. Loki glanced over at her. Even when she had just gone through unbelievable agony, she didn’t let herself be pushed around. Fearless… Loki smirked. He would be keeping her around. She was interesting, far more than any other Midgardian he’d encountered. Even outside of her strange, unknown abilities, her mind was exceptional. I wonder how she’ll endure the final phase of my plan.

Back in Time
by SacredStoryline
Dr. Darcy Lewis is still grieving and isn't ready to rejoin the world just yet, but S.W.O.R.D. has other ideas and drags her out to investigate an anomaly. Suddenly, she finds herself thrown 14 years back in time to the start of it all. Stripped of her hard-earned credentials, Darcy is back to being an intern for the very much alive Dr. Jane Foster, arriving the night they meet Thor.
Every action Darcy takes, whether intentional or not, creates a ripple effect throughout the universe. Can she use her knowledge of the future to her advantage? What will happen if people find out she knows about the infinity stones? Are the Asgardians really gods? And why was SHE the one to be sent back in time?
Glowing gods, telepathic and slightly possessed ravens, Frost Giants in New Mexico, and the Queen of Asgard putting Odin in his place are just a few of the changes brought about by the smallest of ripples.
