Also can we talk about how Carew in the 1920 Barrymore movie is characterized like Lord Henry Worron down to the dialogue, keeps Enfield around like his personal Dorian Gray, and attempts to indeed turn Henry into a version of Dorian Gray (he becomes Mr. Hyde instead -with Carew’s/Wotton’s words inspiring him to perform the experiment- but we can agree Gray and Hyde are very much the two sides of the same coin)

This version of Enfield I’m talking about is called Edward Enfield, and keeping in mind that Jekyll comes up with “Hyde” on the spot, I wouldn’t put it past him to straight up copy that name so as to reaffirm his connection with this monstrous Carew-Wotton hybrid. Also, we later see Hyde at an opium den, further confirming the Dorian Gray - Edward Hyde continuum the movie seems to favor
