Info and Masterlist
Right now I have ideas for 3 main tournaments. The first one will be movies (done!), then depending on how that goes I’ll do TV shows (happening now!) and characters (done!). I’m open to suggestions for more. I’m also only doing things that I’ve seen, so I’m excluding Rangi’s Catch, Other Halves, Mauri, The Rainbow Warrior Conspiracy, Shark In The Park, New Zealand at War, The Reluctant Hero, Te Ao Mahana, Missing Christmas, Mt. Zion, Dawn, Meke, Echo 3, The Woman in Blue, and Far North. (If anyone can point me in the direction of any of those I would love to watch them and add them to the polls. I’m in the US and don’t currently have a VPN.)
Each round of polls will last one week. I’ll add links to watch the movies/shows if it’s easily accessible and free. This is so if you haven’t seen one or both movies/shows in a poll, you can still make an educated guess as to which one(s) you would like more. If there’s a tie, I’ll count my vote as invalid and advance the one I didn’t vote for.
Masterlist of polls under the cut
Tournament 1: Movies
Finished! Results:
Tumblr media
Tournament 2: Characters
Note: this bracket is too big to comfortably fit everything into a summary picture, so I’m putting the winners in bold and including the results percentages in red for the losers and green for the winners.

actual question which may or may not ever be answered
you know how Boba Fett found Fennec Shand near death with a horrendous abdominal wound and restored her to life with a new techno-tummy?
Did he just stabilise her and take her to a hospital or clinic somewhere, or did he know how to do the work himself? I would imagine bounty hunters learn a lot about first aid because they can easily get hurt at work and they may also need to patch up people they've captured in order to bring them in alive, but that seems well beyond that. Is there an operating theatre on board Slave 1? How and when does someone with Boba's life story learn that kind of medical skill?
personal theory: all of Temuera Morrison's past roles can psychically help each other out, so that was actually just Boba channelling the mighty Dr Hone Ropata

srsly feel like I should come up with a new username for this blog to reflect its current tone and content but don't know what for the life of me
I mean, I am squatting on the url "onesmallskankinthescudpie"
stupid urls I am squatting on:
notinguatemalanow (it’s a Dr Ropata reference)
onesmallskankinthescudpie
wobbegong-kenobi (it’s a pun about a type of Australian shark because someone I know already did woebegone-kenobi and that is the best pun on his name EVAR)
the-lookbook-of-boba-fett (was going to be a theme blog I didn’t stick to it)
trickylittlebugger (to honour Nose Lizard)
glup-shitto-just (because it’s funny when you see “glup-shitto-just reblogged your post” in notifications)
olesnakehipsmcgee (ole snake hips mcgee)

It occurs to me that those outside Aotearoa may not ever have seen this iconic clip from THE New Zealand soap (and vital cultural organ that consistently comments on the issues of the day) called Shortland Street. And that they may be interested because that’s Temuera Morrison making his TV debut all the way back in the pilot (and Lisa Crittenden as head nurse Carrie Burton. She has a ton of TV credits to her name too).  You gotta let me set the scene. The year was 1992. I was 9. It was the pilot episode, and we watched excitedly because we lived at the bottom of the world and far away from TV epicenter. We were very excited to have our own TV programmes made here, in that ridiculous parochial way that NZers get. I was 9! People on TV with kiwi accents! It sounded weird, we were so used to American and English.  Anyway, that line, “you’re not in Guatemala now, Dr. Ropata” has become a legit bit of NZ slang. Delivery on point. And I love Tem’s reaction to it, which unfortunately you don’t really see in this clip. It’s great stuff.  Speaking of Tem though, which I meant to do, I honestly just love him so much? Did you know that when he was stuck in NZ during the pandemic he got a job pouring concrete because he was bored and wanted to practice a skill? When he and Cliff Curtis were working together on Six Days Seven nights they were supposed to ad lib a bunch of lines in Te Reo about pirate stuff and they talked about what they were having for dinner instead.  He’s just a very cool guy and it’s awesome to see him in a big lead role like he is now.

One of the top news stories in New Zealand today. Shortland Street has come up with a line to rival the infamous "You're not in Guatemala anymore, Dr Ropata." New Zealand television everyone.

Everytime I get a look under that clone helmet or hear that voice, I get an urge to say “You’re not on Tatooine anymore Dr. Ropata!”
