New Beginnings: A Wild Violet One Shot
Okay so I’m super behind in the game, but I wanted to complete at least a couple pieces for the Drabblecember challenge, and even though it’s the 29th of December, I decided to go ahead and share this piece with you all. It became more of a one shot than a Drabble, I hope that it okay! It is a very important piece to me because it signifies a very special moment in the relationship between my f/o Zach and s/i Violet. And this is the first fanfic piece I’ve posted in forever, so yeah! I can write again!
The prompt I am using for this piece is Day 1: Winter Weather.
Word Count: 1,662
Rating: Teen and Up
Warnings: Mentions of loss of child, mentions of pregnancy, morning sickness, light angst, one mild curse word, kissing/makeout session, a few suggestive comments (but nothing explicit/nsfw). If any of this triggers you please do not read! I don’t want to hurt anyone!
Placing the story below a cut, there is a second part, so I may update this post/link it at another time! Enjoy!

POV: This takes place during the Under Frozen Pond Episode, so here are some Zach screenshots from said episode 🥰!
The cold weather of the winter season enveloped me as I lay in the snow. I wore my husband’s scarf and trench coat, my own gray gloves, and a lilac hat that once belonged to my mother. I looked up to the bright blue sky, and breathed deeply, closing my eyes as I exhaled.
I’d run away from Zach after we’d had an argument about my recent health concerns. Zach was bound and determined to keep me confined to the plane until we returned to the city for me to see my doctor, but I was tired of being cooped up all day.
To be fair he’d gotten his way most days for nearly two weeks because I’d been too sick to even leave our bedroom, but today I’d felt well enough to join him while he surveyed the location for the Annual Villain’s Meeting.
As Zach was wrapping his former winter coat and scarf around me my hopes of breaking free from my confinement to enjoy the cold weather were crushed when I’d gotten sick to my stomach yet again. I narrowly avoided becoming sick all over his shiny winter boots, and Zach grimaced and gagged for a few minutes until my sick spell subsided. He composed himself after I’d come up for air from the trash can he’d ordered Tan to bring to me while Cro cleaned up the mess.
Zach pulled a box of mints out of his pocket and emptied a few in my palm, something he’d started doing nearly two weeks before when I’d first started getting sick, “We’re going to have to get you to the doctor, Vi, you should’ve been over the virus by now, I was over it after a day….this isn’t normal.”
“I know,” I whispered, itching to tell him my suspicions, but I just couldn’t face it, not yet, not after what had happened in July.
I opened my eyes, looking to the sky again, wondering if she was looking down on me with those green eyes so like her father’s, the red hair like her grandmother’s, and my face with the freckles Zach and I both had during childhood.
If she was here things would’ve been very different…but I knew it was best not to dwell on that, it would just depress me again. I tried to focus on the positive: she was now our guardian angel. And if what I suspected was happening, I knew we needed her protection now more than ever.
Zach’s shrill voice met my ears as he called out my name. I lifted my head up far enough to see him slipping and sliding his way toward me over the ice. I laughed and sat up, not wanting to miss the opportunity to see him fall flat on his ass. It reminded me so much of when we’d gone skating the first time a couple years before. I’d never skated in my life and Zach had very little experience himself so it was quite a comical sight.
While he wobbled his way toward me, his curses becoming louder by the second, I thought how much I’d like to go skating with him right then, but I knew with what was happening to me that it probably was not the safest option.
Zach finally reached me, and I flopped back down on the snow, exhausted from my uncontrollable laughter. Zach loomed over me, his legs spread so that my legs were between his, if I’d reached up and pulled him down it would have been a very compromising position.
Zach didn’t seem to notice because he was so absorbed in his own anger, he planted his hands on his hips and took the opportunity to yell at me, “what’s so funny?”
“You trying to walk on the ice, you’re as graceful as a hippopotamus,” I laughed, trying to catch my breath and wiping tears from my eyes.
“I am far more graceful than a hippo platter mouth or whatever,” he hissed, not amused by my comments. Zach turned away and walked in the direction of the plane motioning for me to follow him, “come on and get up, it’s freezing out here…”
I sat up with the full intention of following him, but a wave of nausea stopped me in my tracks. I slowly lowered my head back to the ground taking calming breaths, Zach had turned back to yell at me, “VIO…Vi?”
“I need a minute,” I whispered, covering my mouth with my hand.
Zach crunched his way back over to me through the snow and sat down beside me, his brows knitted in concern, “are you okay?”
I shook my head and he took my free hand in his, wrapping our gloved fingers tightly together, he laid down on his back beside me and we held hands, looking at each other silently until I was able to speak again.
“I’m fine,” I whispered, smiling weakly at him.
Zach lifted his head, and pulled his hand free of mine, “no you’re not, we have to get you to the doctor and find out what’s going on, Violet…I’ll call Donita and Gourmand and we’ll reschedule….”
“No, Zach…” I whined, I covered my face with my hands to hide the tears that threatened to escape, “I’m fine…I’m just sick is all, it’s because, well…Zach…I think we’re pre…”
I pulled my hands away and looked at his face, etched with confusion and curiosity, I couldn’t tell him here, not yet…I had to be sure…so I quickly changed the conversation, “do you remember when we first went ice skating a couple years ago?”
Zach’s face went slack for a minute, and his eyes widened, he lowered his head to the snow again, staring at the sky in confusion before he looked back at me, “uhhh, yeah?”
I quickly covered my near omission, “I think we’re perfectly happy like we were then…yes we’ve had sickness come our way, but we’re not going to let that stop us from being happy and doing what we need to do, right? We’ll just get up and try again after falling down, we can’t let this sickness stop us from enjoying our day…”
Zach’s face contorted with bewilderment again, “so…uhhh, you wanna go skating?”
I giggled, pulling his gloved hand into mine and kissing the top of his hand, “No, that’s not what I meant…even if I wanted to I can’t, but no, no, no…Zach, that’s not my point, my point is, we can’t let me being sick ruin our day, I’m just a little sick that’s all, after today I’ll get a doctors appointment, and we’ll take it from there…one step at a time.”
Zach, nodded his head slowly, still looking unsettled by our situation and conversation, “okay…then….”
I released his hand and grinned, waving my arms around me in the snow, “that’s settled!”
Zach snickered, “are you making a snow angel?”
I stopped moving my arms and glanced to either side of me, I hadn’t done it intentionally, but I indeed had a pair of snow angel wings started, “I guess so…wanna join me?”
“Join you?” Zach scoffed, moving to stand up, he rolled his eyes, “it’s childish, frivolous…”
I resumed waving my arms and moving my legs to complete the angel, “it’s fun…one of my favorite cold weather activities…”
Zach huffed and grabbed my hand, plopping into the snow beside me, he reluctantly started making his own snow angel, “this is humiliating…if Donita and Gourmand see us…”
“They’ll think it’s cute,” I giggled, and I sat up long enough to give him a peck on the cheek.
I peered out of the corner of my eyes and snickered as a blush crept across his pale features that were already tinted red from the cold, “oh no you don’t,” he hissed, moving from beside me to straddling me within seconds.
I could not stop giggling as Zach’s flustered face hovered inches from mine, his hands on either side of my head, “think you can just tease me and get away with it, do ya?”
“N-no!” I gasped between laughs, Zach smirked and closed the space between us, kissing me. My giggles subsided as he deepened the kiss, I reached my hands up and grasped either side of his face, pulling his face closer to me, earning a moan from him, “minx,” he mumbled against my lips. He then trailed his lips across mine and from my nose to my chin. He gave me one quick kiss on my nose and sighed. I opened my eyes and saw him looking at me.
“What did I ever do to deserve you?” He whispered, a grin spreading across his face, he shook his head and stood up, “come on, let’s get you back to the plane, laying in this cold weather can’t be good for you.”
I relented and sat up, I held my hands to him and he helped me to my feet, I bounced slightly as I stood up, earning a laugh from Zach, “always enthusiastic…”
Zach released my hands and offered his arm to me, I giggled and wrapped my arms around his bicep, “such a gentleman,” I teased.
He smirked, “I try.”
We started walking back to the plane, and I abruptly stopped. I untangled myself from Zach’s arm and walked back to our snow angels, Zach called out, “what’s wrong?”
I stood in front of the snow angels and whispered a quiet prayer, “please protect this one,” I placed my hands into the middle of my snow angel, fanned out to look somewhat like a butterfly, I felt a tear trickling from my eye, and I brushed it away.
I quickly rejoined Zach who’d raised an eyebrow at me, “was that for Alexandria?”
“Maybe,” I whispered, biting my lip, Zach continued giving me an awkward stare, but he wrapped his arm around my waist, resting his hand on my stomach, unknowingly answering his own question with the simple yet touching gesture.

Drabblecember Day 5: Sharing Stories
Word count: 325
Taglist: @make-my-dream, @thechavanator
“What are all those?” Lu asked, eyeing the stack of books Sakuya had brought back with him to her place.
“We’re doing a new show soon, so I wanted to do some role study! Apparently, it’s gonna be based on a European Christmas, so I wanna be sure I get everything right,” he replied cheerfully, taking a seat on the couch.
“Cool! You mind if I hang out here while you do?”
“Of course not, c’mere.”
At his request, Lu joined him on the couch, lying her head in his lap as he cracked open one of the books, beginning to read aloud.
His tone was even and relaxed, yet at the same time light and energetic. He kept his voice low, making sure only Lu could hear his murmurs of random facts, stories, and his own little interjections about what he thought was interesting or noteworthy.
As he spoke, Sakuya lazily caressed Lu’s hair, weaving his fingers through her thick tresses as he scratched here and carded there, finding himself unable to let go. It was a rare opportunity, and who was he to not take advantage of it? It didn’t matter that it may have been absent-mindedly, it was a nice feeling to let their roles switch once in a while, to give her some comfort after the stress he knew she was struggling with.
It was the perfect remedy for the exhaustion she felt, Lu decided, closing her eyes as she savored the moment, every bit of it feeling just right, like she was home. Before she knew it, her breathing slowed, growing deeper and slipping further and further from consciousness with each one.
“Lu?”
It was too late. She was far gone in the realm of sleep, finally allowing herself to rest. Sakuya smiled, running his fingers through her hair one last time before leaning down to place a soft kiss to her forehead.
“Good night, then. I’ll see you tomorrow.”

posting this before i chicken out…. but uhmmm here’s a drabblecember 2023 thing. it’s day 1 and the prompt is cold weather but also it is my son’s birthday so. ALSO WHY IS IT SPCAED LIKE YAHT….anyways good night sorry
“it is freezing….why did it have to be so cold on my birthdayyy.” gregory complained as he jumped up to sit on the counter, kicking his legs back and forth.
“i think the weather is fine. you are just complaining.” damian responded.
he was standing with his arms clasped together behind his back.
ponyboy and johnny just stood their awkwardly, their hands brushing together.
gregory flipped off damian, “of course you think this weather is fine. sammy, do you like this weather?”
before sammy could answer, their dad, terrence, and their other dad, darry, came back in with two boxes.
“alright guys, i have some winter clothes if you really want to go outside but darry has some board games too.” terrence explained, looking gregory.
gregory jumped down from the counter and proudly said; “we’re going outside.”
damian rolled his eyes and muttered affectionately, “how predictable.”
“is everyone okay with that?” terrence asked as darry put down the two boxes on the table and started getting out the winter stuff.
gregory nodded eagerly, damian barely nodded, ponyboy and johnny said yes, and sammy nodded also.
terrence helped darry sort out everyone’s winter stuff.
“now you all make sure to put on all these layers. especially you ponyboy and johnny.” darry said, leaning against the table.
“why us specifically??” ponyboy asked.
“you’re gonna stay up to see the sunset.” darry stated.
“well i guess that is true..” johnny agreed.
“you caught us. it’ll be real pretty though.”
“i’m sure it will.” darry smiled.
terrence distributed everyone’s gear- darry ran to go get the sleds as ponyboy and gregory said they wanted to sled- and waved as the kids went outside in the cold.
it was snowing hard and the sun was shining, making their eyes hurt. there was a woods right next to their house but if you walked down a bit there was a giant hill that everyone liked to sled on.
the kids may have gotten lost on the way there. only because gregory forgot where he was going because he was chatting with sammy. damian had to lead them all to the right hill.
but we’ll have to wait until they come back to see if they had fun.

Drabblecember 8: Sharing Snacks
(ooops okay so i started out ahead. totally intended to keep up my lead during the week, but alas– day job. Here's day 8!!)
Word count: 100
Universe: Detective Pikachu
"Fuck off," he said, "get your own."
Movie nights were awkward at first, in that sweet new-friendship way–– too-tense shoulders and hiccuping on polite laughter. No such troubles now. No such politeness. "You're holding the whole goddamn popcorn tin, dipshit!"
Harry was behind on reports and Lucy was on her third "omw soon!!" text, so–– then there were two.
“Fine. We'll use bowls." Tim stood. "Pikachu, don't let her stick her gross little hands in there while I'm gone."
"Gross?"
"I know you don't wash those gloves."
Em watched Tim go.
Sparks danced across Pikachu's cheeks. Em retracted her hand.

Drabblecember Day 9: A Walk Outside

‧˚₊•┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈୨୧┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈•‧₊˚⊹
˚୨୧ -
1: 37 a.m.
Being UNDEAD's producer meant one core thing - Night Shoots. Lots of them.
What a life, right? Only months before had Miyuki spent her nights hidden away and up late after the infrequent shift helping out at her family's shrine - Finally she gets a night shift job,  and her internal systems decide she was supposed to be asleep approximately three hours ago. Is this a prank? Was she getting old? Is this what it means to be a "normal" adult?
'Gross.'  she thinks, shuddering at the concept.
Case and point, she was exhausted.
Returning from an egregiously long and tiring shoot, Miyuki sees UNDEAD off once they arrive at the ES Building. Usually anyone else who's even awake at this hour would only be seen at the dorms, but out wandering about in the cold, was none other than Keito Hasumi.
Wait, what the hell was he doing out here?
Ye gods it was embarrassing. They've known each other for years, but upon catching sight of him Miyuki frantically attempts to find somewhere out of sight. By the time she finds one though, it's too late. Now in an awkward confrontation mid-sidewalk, they lock eyes. Neither one of them moving an inch until -
"Uh, w-what are you doing out this late?"
" I could ask you the same. "
They stood in deadlock,  tension as thick as it was cold outside that night. Fidgeting with the trim of her scarf, Miyuki answers her estranged childhood friend
“Work ran late tonight, so…” She trails off, following up with
“You?”
“I wasn’t able to sleep, so I thought I’d catch some air" Keito responds plainly, in a bold attempt to mask nerves of his own.
"Right…" Miyuki nods, averting her gaze.
Further dread sets in as she weighs the options before her. She was either stuck walking home in the middle of the night by herself, or stuck facing someone she wasn't quite sure what to call anymore.
Panicking internally about how in god's name she could POSSIBLY save herself from this dilemma now, she's brought back to earth by Keito asking
"Were you…planning on walking home by yourself at this hour?"
"Er…kinda? Don't really have any other options…" Miyuki answers sheepishly
Keito sighs, head already in his hand
" W-What?" She asks, baffled
Keito simply shakes his head and replies
"How…Incorrigible. You've worked yourself enough today, at least let me help you this once."
"Seriously? You don't have to, really! I-" She stammers
"I insist."
Defeated, Miyuki sighs and accepts his offer, beginning the cold journey home in an awkward yet peaceful silence.
They walk the empty streets side by side, lit by lamp posts and the occasional series of holiday decor. Mesmerized by the quiet scene, Miyuki doesn't notice an uneven sidewalk ahead until she's already tripping  over it.  Not quite falling over, she's caught by Keito's hand grabbing her own, and warned about "being more careful" as one might expect coming from him. They finally reach the Miyasato shrine, but only upon arrival do either of them realize they never actually stopped holding hands after that. Maybe it just felt safer that way? More comfortable?
Regardless, now flushed at the possible ideas and implications in both of their minds, they part ways with sheepish goodnights. Hit with another wave of exhaustion, Miyuki  flops herself amongst the pile of plushies and pillows on her bed. She mashes her face into a pillow and grumbles to herself, cheeks still flushed
"God, I've got to get over this…"

Snowfall
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Something short and sweet ... I actually wrote this for drabblecember way back in 2023, but never posted it. 650~ words.
Their relationship has been established for awhile during this, so AZ is a more forward with Nerine than he would be otherwise ❄️
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Nerine… this city you live within is rather cold, yes?”
“Of course.” Nerine sat with her back turned to him, gazing outwards towards the sky. A light snowfall drifted from the clouds above, only emphasizing AZ’s claim.
“And yet… you continue to collect these Vanillite.” AZ poked at one such creature when it floated by him. Cold to the touch, it’s body was surprisingly solid… and yet it giggled as if it had been tickled when AZ touched it. “A pokemon that can chill the air with its breath. You allow them to freely roam about within your home.”
“Of course I do. It always brightens my day to see their cute little faces.” Nerine pouted. “I don’t know why you’re bringing it up all of a sudden.”
“Nerine.” AZ’s voice sturned stony. “I am freezing.”
“Ah… I suppose you would be freezing under these conditions, wouldn’t you?”
“Yes,” AZ snorted, “Very much so.”
“In that case, I suppose I can let my little Vanillite out to play for an hour or two, yes? Hold on a moment…”
Nerine leaned forward to unlatch the lock on her window. When she lifted it open, the cool air made her wince.
“C— come along, all of you!” hugging her shoulders, Nerine’s teeth chattered as she called out to her Pokemon. “It’s a lovely day outside for you all!”
Without hesitation, the Vanillites all swarmed to the window, exiting in a disorganized array. Floette joined alongside them as they scattered about. She paused only to wave goodbye to the couple before leaving.
Once Floette left, allowed the window to fall shut.
“Ah… she must have gotten bored,” AZ sighed, “She’s never been one to keep still for long… She will keep an eye on your Vanillite.”
It was strange to think about Floette leaving, then coming back not centuries, but a mere few hours later. He had to remind himself at times that her leaving now was only temporary . He was becoming better about it now that his life did not revolve around her (and he recalled, with embarrassment, how distressed he would become during moments where he would wake up in the morning and not be immediately able to find her, only to discover her sipping tea with Nerine a few minutes later.)
“I'll have to thank her when she comes back…” Nerine replied. The cold left her voice trembling, it took considerable effort from AZ not to laugh at her predicament ; at first ignorant of the cold, and now she was shivering terribly.
“Nerine, come here.”
He held his arms out to her, a soft chuckle escaping from him in the process. She frowned in faux anger before crawling towards him.
AZ lifted Nerine into his arms, into the blanket he’d wrapped himself in to keep warm. It was always awkward, trying to find the best way to situate her with their size difference… AZ eventually settled for placing her in his lap, between his long legs. Her entire body tensed in response; a sign of embarrassment rather than that of discomfort.
She wasn’t used to being touched, similarly to how AZ wasn’t used to touching. With how small Nerine was in comparison to himself, it would be very easy to man-handle her if he so wished. Such a thing had no appeal to him. He much preferred to brush his fingers against her cheek, and watch a subtle blush creep its way across.
“My skin is naturally rather cold… I wanted to warm you, but my hands must have the opposite effect. I apologize.”
“It’s fine…I’m used to it.” she worried her bottom lip, before allowing her head to rest against his chest. She seemed reluctant to gaze at him, but he found this trait of hers endearing.
“I must admit, I do enjoy being alone with you like this.” AZ whispered.
“I like it too…”
“It's okay for us to spend a few hours like this, yes…?”
“Or a few days.” Nerine laughed, “However long we can.”
AZ nodded in agreement. He rested his chin against the top of her head, and gazed towards her window, where the snow still gently fell.

Drabblecember 2023 Day #1 - Cold Weather
Ship: Sho Minamimoto (The World Ends With You) + Haruka (OC)
Word Count: 238
Summary: Sho gets bribed by sweet stuff. What else is new.
Minamimoto sneezed as he retracted a bit into his clothes. “What’s wrong, Sho?” Haruka asked as she looked to her side. He side eyed her. “It’s zeta cold. How‘re you not freezing out here?”
“Well, I grew up pretty up north… I’m used to it honestly.” With this, she gave a cheeky grin. “Interesting how you hate the cold, Mr. Perfect.”
“...Shut up.” Minamimoto muttered grumpily. It’s not often he’s in a great mood, but the cold really did seem to be making him grouchier than usual. “...I know what’ll cheer you up. I heard that the cafe you like so much has a new option for their pancakes… A huge stack with cream, sugar, and butter on every layer.”
Minamimoto’s eyes lit up a bit, as he tried to avert his gaze to not make it obvious. With how he acts, most wouldn’t expect it. However, he did indeed have quite a sweet tooth, especially when baked goods are involved. It was hard for him to turn down anything of that nature. “Well, how ‘bout it? I’m sure it’s warm in there too.”
“...I suppose it’s not out of the equation.”
“I thought not. Let’s go check it out!” With this, Haruka took his hand and began to lead him along.
Now that she wasn’t looking, Minamimoto chanced a smile and blushed as he looked at their held hands. She wasn’t bad. She wasn’t bad at all.

Drabblecember 2023 Day 12: Snowball Fight Headcanons
This is for @eternally-smitten and @bioexorcizm's Drabblecember Event! They said that Drabblecember could be anything that was low effort basically, so I've decided to do some headcanons! Just in time for the last day!
Ship: Optimus Prime (TFP)/Honey Moon (S/I)
🖤 So, I think the concept of a snowball fight would come up while Honey (me) is on a low risk patrol with Optimus. I would be riding with Op and near the end of the patrol it comes up that, like Raf, I grew up in an environment that didn't snow. And that I was curious about it too.
🖤 And he takes note of this and plans to take me to a place to see snow. He convinces me to come under the guise of getting Raf a snowball like he promised in the scraplet episode. He surprises me by telling me that the main purpose of the trip was for me to experience the snow.
🖤 "But we'll still get Raf his snowball right?" I would question, wanting to make sure Raf was happy.
🖤 Op would appreciate my thoughtfulness. "Yes, we shall." He would say with a small smile.
🖤 We get to talking about games humans play in the snow, a conversation started after I attempt to make a snow angel. I would tell him about snowball fights and things like that.
🖤 Then I would make a snowball and throw it at his windshield on his chest. He would just slowly raise a metal eyebrow at me while the snowball sloooowlllly slides down his windshield.
🖤 I remember Arcee mentioning that "Primes don't party" and I realize I might have accidentally offended the serious leader. So, I sheepishly apologize and he accepts it. I can't really discern his thoughts as usual. Since, he keeps them very well hidden. I would worry I just ruined any progress on friendship with the stoic bot.
🖤 We take a walk and I end up checking out a tree with snow on its branches. When I go under it I notice Optimus didn't come over with me.
🖤 Before I can ask what's wrong, he raises his foot up and then stomps real hard on the ground. It causes the snow to fall off the branches and fall on me. Some even going down the back of my shirt!
🖤 (I make a lot of embarrassing noises when that happens.)
🖤 Then Optimus chuckles, which is basically the equivalent of keeling over with laughter for him. He comes over and helps gently dust the snow off of me and asks if he wins the snowball fight.
🖤 And I think in my head that I want to keep hearing him laugh.
🖤 (Op: is gentle and kind and then shows a hidden sense of humor, but is still kind-hearted about it.)
🖤 (Honey: 😳😳😳😳😳😳😳🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰💛💛💛💛💛💛🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤✨✨✨✨✨✨✨🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖)

Drabblecember Day 24 + 25: Big Get Together + Gift Exchange
Word Count: 1218
Taglist: @make-my-dream @thechavanator @dango-daydreams
Lu softly smiled to herself, gazing over the Mankai dorm’s common room, at all the commotion over the annual Christmas party. It was always an event to remember, at least according to Sakuya, along with a few of her friends outside the company, several of which were also attending for their first time, some for a repeat year. The chatter of the members turned to mush in her ear as she took a sip of her drink, taking a gander at all the attendees.
There were the members of the company, that was a given, she thought as she watched Masumi vying for Izumi’s attention, only for him to notice Lu staring, giving her a nasty scowl. She smirked, gesturing for him to get back to what would be a fruitless endeavor for him. Tsuzuru groaned, taking Masumi’s shoulder to attempt to lead him to grab more snacks, apologizing to their director as he did so.
Looking to the kitchen, she spotted Banri and Juza bickering as usual, this time over whether or not Juza really had enough gingerbread. Isa was at Banri’s side, tugging at his sleeve as she begged him to calm down, telling him it really was up to Juza when he had enough. Hahn only chuckled from where she sat next to Juza, taking his hand as he took another bite, making sure to give Banri a firm scowl before turning back to his partner as they planted a kiss to his cheek.
Lu had to laugh a little at the scene, grateful she wasn’t the one Banri was at the throat of tonight, though she did feel a little sorry for their poor partners.
A quick glance to one of the corners of the room led her to find Free, Taichi, and Azuma talking softly about something or another. Taichi was constantly rubbing her back, making sure she wasn’t overwhelmed by the noise or people at any point, and Azuma kept his voice low as well. It was a peaceful sight, Lu thought, and Free was lucky to be cared for so deeply, especially during this season.
It was a lovely party, and it was a nice feeling to be surrounded by family and friends so closely like this. That was, except for the fact that something was missing. There was one place she kept finding herself drifting to, and for good reason.
Sakuya sat by the window, staring out into the dark courtyard. He had briefly mentioned hoping for a white Christmas to her the day before, but she didn’t expect him to be that invested in attempting to get it to snow, even if his method was to simply sit and stare.
Lu stood to approach him, placing a hand on his back.
“You think staring out there’s gonna make it snow?” She asked, startling him.
“Oh! I mean, you never know, right?” He replied with a nervous giggle.
Lu could only sigh. She set her drink down, dragging her fingers down his arms to find his hands, taking them gently.
“Are you okay? You’ve been kinda quiet,” she noted. Sakuya simply shook his head.
“I’m okay. It’s just… it’s nice. It’s loud and chaotic, but it’s kinda calming,” he responded, a soft smile gracing his features. Lu breathed a sigh of relief.
“Thank god, I was worried you were drowning again,” she joked, letting go of his hands to give him a teasing shove. “Oh, by the way, is it fine if I give you my gift now? I doubt I’ll stick around after the party, and there’s only a few more hours left of Christmas.”
Sakuya’s eyes widened in surprise.
“Now?”
“I can stay after if you want, though, it’s fine-“
“No, it’s great! Just let me get yours, okay? Meet me in the courtyard,” he punctuated his request with a peck to her cheek. Lu grinned.
“Gotcha.”
Sakuya waved to Lu as he exited his room, a small, but exquisitely wrapped, present in his hands. She returned the gesture as he sat on the bench next to her.
“Do you wanna go first or should I?” Lu asked, looking to his gift, then back to hers.
“You should go first! Mine’s, uh, kinda special,” Sakuya replied hesitantly.
“Okay. Then, here!”
She held out her gift to him, a small box wrapped in paper lined with hearts, topped with an adhesive bow. He took the gift graciously, carefully tearing into the paper, being as gentle as possible.
What he revealed was a silver necklace, with a dog tag pendant. He brought the tag into his palm, taking a closer look as to what was engraved on it.
On one side, it was his name. On the other, Lu’s. Each was followed by a small heart beneath the name, and Sakuya felt his cheeks heat up at the amount of effort she must have gone through to do all of that for him.
“I tried to get it in a style you might like so you could use it often!” Lu blurted. “Is it okay? Was I close?”
Sakuya hesitated, looking back to the pendant, before tackling Lu into a hug.
“I guess I have my answer!” She said with a giggle.
“It’s perfect,” he murmured into her.
“It’s not much! Kinda pricey, but really, it’s the least I could do! I love you, Saku!”
“I love you too,” he repeated, releasing his hold. “My turn, I guess.”
Sakuya held out his gift to her, displaying the hard work he had put into just the wrapping. Lu took it gently, casually tearing into the paper. What awaited her was a sight to behold. She opened the box, only to gasp at what greeted her.
She was met with a silver ring, engraved with a pink gemstone. Lu stared at her boyfriend, jaw slack. He bashfully scooted slightly closer to her.
“It’s a promise ring,” he started, taking the ring from its box. “I figured that once everything settles down with Mankai, maybe we can too. If you’re up to it, I mean,” he added.
He took her hand, treating it as if it were the most delicate thing on the planet, and slowly slipped the ring on her finger. Lu watched him with careful attention, her breath catching in her lungs.
“I love you,” Sakuya repeated once more, placing a gentle kiss to her knuckle, just like that first day.
Lu couldn’t believe this was happening. She gasped, only to plunge into his arms, stealing his lips for her own. He jumped, but settled into the kiss, allowing it to last as long as they could let it. When they released, it was with a small murmur from Lu.
“I love you too. I’ll stay. I promise.”
“Good.”
Lu sat up properly, raising her head to stare at the sky. She smiled excitedly.
“Saku,” she whispered. “Look.”
He complied, and gasped a little.
“It’s snowing,” he breathed.
“Looks like you got that white Christmas you wanted. Wait, can I change my gift? Can we pretend like this was also my gift?”
“Sure. Maybe it was,” Sakuya replied with a chuckle, scooting closer to Lu to watch the falling snow.
Lu grinned, planting a kiss to the top of his head.
“Oh, I almost forgot. Merry Christmas, Saku.”
“Merry Christmas, Lu.”

Baking Together
WC: 920
Fandom: Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remakes
Verse: Side Sessions
Pairing: Still General; Focuses on Johnny and Mhari
This is a Selfship AU piece, even if still not at the shipping point. DNI is Proshipper, or if you are against self shipping in general (in case this breaks containment to general fandom). As usual, let me know if you want to be tagged in future works.
She wasn’t sure how she and Johnny got to that point. It felt like one minute, he was confirming her name(“It’s actually pronounced ‘Vah-Ree’ isn’t it?” “Honestly, thank fuck you realized that I just gave up on correcting people”) and then the next they were shoulder to shoulder mixing things.
It had to be longer than a minute though. They had to talk about family recipies (“Nah, we’re making my ma’s Clooties-“ “No way, my Gram’s is the best in the world”), order them, and then wait for them to get to Price’s house in the middle of butt-fuck nowhere (“It’s not that bad Johnny-Boy, where one of my sisters is from it’s an hour and a half drive to the hospital.” “I didn’t realize Canada was a fucking backwater country.” “The Prairies might be.”) and then set everything up in a kitchen that was clearly designed for a single man as opposed to people cooking enough for four spec ops soldiers and a chubby scientist.
But what they did know was that their shoulder was at Johnny’s bicep, and that they were glaring at him as he worked on the chocolate for the Millionaire’s Short Cake.
“Don’t fucking eat it.” He did so anyway, giving a shocked noise at how hot the chocolate was as it was only halfway melted. “For fucks sake, Johnny-“
Her accent had shifted back into the Scottish that her Ma taught her, brought out by the past hour and a bit only talking to Johnny. He didn’t say a thing as it shifted from Canadian soft to full Scottish lilt, and by the time she realized it was too late to reset without him knowing she knew. It was just one of those stupid things that she wasn’t going to give up until asked to.
And he didn’t seem intent on asking.
“You gotta melt it down, then pour out onto the pan- “ The one with a low layer of shortcake on the bottom, and a now cooling layer of caramel- with proper fucking golden syrup- on top. The one she stuffed into the freezer with a prayer that when it was time to take out it didn’t fall to the floor. “Then you eat what’s left in the bowl.”
It was simple logic. Every kid knew that.
“Nah, I’was the kid who ate all the dough before it was cooked.” He looked away from his prize to grin at her as if it was some grand secret. As if out of the field he wasn’t the most impatient one on the team. “Grams stopped havin’ me help her cook and bake.”
“It tastes better-“ She didn’t touch many of the Task Force without warning. Or any of them, really, without permission or warning. But the sheer familiarity of the situation made her bolder. Bold enough to try push him with her shoulder, nudging him away from the chocolate he would devour before it was done- “when you know that there’s also gonna be baked treats afterwards.”
But Johnny was SAS, and while ‘stacked like flapjacks’ -her sisters words, not hers- she wasn’t strong. All she managed to do was get half stuck between him and the stove before having to wiggle herself back out.
Johnny was not helpful, and seemed only more intent to trap her between him and the stove.
“Counter argument- there’s chocolate in front of me.” He pointed at the makeshift double boiler- just a pot of water boiling with a metal bowl on top- with the plastic spatula as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. “Oh, we should add some crushed nuts to this.”
“Is anyone allergic?”
“Ha-“ He made it sound as if she asked a joke. She didn’t, but let it roll off of her anyway. “The closest thing is Ghost’ll joke he’s allergic to chocolate. Y’know, as he tries to hide his stash.”
“Ghost has a chocolate stash?”
With him distracted, she was able to push him gently away from the now melted chocolate- pouring it over the Millionaire’s Shortbread.
“Ghost has a sweets stash in general.” Her eyes caught movement behind Johnny’s head. But considering that this could become the funniest thing all day? She kept quiet about it. “Worst kept secret in the 141. Everyone’s taken a th-“
“You’ve taken from my sweet drawer?”
The way that Johnny jumped out of his skin was worth the thirty seconds of keeping her mouth shut. His skin got red in embarrassment, and he had to put a hand over his chest to calm himself down. For good and dramatic measure, he leaned over onto one of the counters like an old man.
“Jesus Christ- Make some noise when you get up, LT.” Ghost and the others had been taking naps. Price and Kyle because they were sick. Ghost? Probably just an excuse to ignore her and Johnny. “Y’re lucky I didn’t have a knife.”
“You wouldn’t have hit me.” There was an earnestness to his tone that raised her interest. Was he just being cocky, or was it trust in Johnny? “Besides, you two are loud.”
“Oh, sorry.” She watched as Kyle and John came shuffling in, looking closer to the dead they fought than their usual selves. “We didn’t mean to wake you.”
“You didn’t.” It was honestly a little infuriating that even bleary eyed and stuffed up, Kyle could still give a dazzling smile. Or Mhari was weak Whichever. “It’s tea time, woke up on our own.”
“Fucking English!”

Drabblecember 7: Snowed In/Stuck Inside
Word count: 100
Universe: The Umbrella Academy
"What?" Luther said, half-yawn. "City-wide snow day. Sleep in for once in your life."
"Evil doesn't sleep in," Diego responded, with a hat on his head and two shovels in his hand. One still had the price tag on. Emerson almost laughed.
"I know it's bad out there, but it's not quite apocalyptic." Emerson bounced onto Luther's bed. "You're gonna shovel out... what, the whole city?"
"I am if Luther gets off his big, hairy butt."
"Well..." Luther hemmed. "Nobody leaving means no crime happening, right?"
"Limiting the day to an uptick in domestic crimes, yeah. Take the shovel, dude."

❣ Drabblecember 2023 - Baking Together ❣
Tumblr media
Elisa looked at the shelves of recipe books, fingers gliding across each spine. She never knew Scout's mom had such a large collection. Her hand landed on a book that looked well loved. She pulled it out and started thumbing through the pages.
Suddenly, two lanky arms wrapped around her waist.
"Hiya toots," Jeremy cooed, "whatcha doin there?"
"Dear god! Jeremy don't sneak up on me like that!" She fumbled with the book, flipping back to the holiday section. "I'm just looking for something to bake," she said leaning back into his chest. Though Elisa knew the basics of baking she definitely couldn't do it without a guide.
"Oh I know a good one." Jeremy looked over her shoulder and skipped to a dog eared page. "Ma always made these for Christmas parties," he said pointing at an illustration of gingerbread in various festive shapes.
"Gingerbread would be rather fitting. Plus the decorating does sound fun..." Elisa hummed for a second considering the thought.
Scout swiftly snatched the book out of her hands. "Guess that's what we're doing then."
He rummaged through the cabinets of the kitchen while Elisa looked for some bowls and baking utensils. They made quick work of baking the cookies, chatting away through every step.
They cleaned up their workspace and prepared for the "best part" in Scout's words.
Jeremy mixed a rainbow of frostings and set out a wide display of toppings. Mini gumdrops, chocolate chips, sprinkles, and an array of other sweets.
He turned to Elisa with a cocky grin.
"Watch how a pro does it babe."
He picked out the best looking gingerbread man and carefully crafted away. A few minutes later and he held up his creation.
"Tada," Scout gestured to his finished cookie with his other hand, "impressive I know." His face was full of obvious pride.
Elisa looked closer at the cookie. The frosting was a bit droopy since Scout couldn't wait for the cookies to cool, but she could still see that it was decorated to look like her.
"Aw, Jerm..." She took the cookie, her cheeks glowing a bright shade of pink. "This is the cutest thing ever!"
She peppered his face with kisses and admired mini cookie her. She always loved Jeremy's creativity.
"It's nothin baby," He chuckled and kissed her on the forehead.
They decorated the rest of the cookies, giggling and making a huge mess. When everything was finished, they were left with a platter of gingerbread cookies full of love and the pleasant memory of baking together.

Drabblecember 2023 Day #2 - Baking together
Ship: Dylas + Frey (Rune Factory 4, living vicariously through the main character)
Word Count: 239
Summary: Horse husband likes carrots. What a shocker.
Frey was hard at work, and for once it wasn’t in the fields tending crops. Her latest harvest had a lot of carrots, her husband’s favorite vegetable… as much as he hated to admit it. Maybe it was because he’s a horse monster and is self conscious about his tail and ears, but anything that made him feel like he could be compared to a horse would make him a bit defensive. Nevertheless, Frey always made sure to have plenty. However, the harvest was extremely bountiful, so she figured she’d make a carrot cake.
As she was preparing the carrots, however, Dylas came in. “Hey Frey, I’m home. …What’re you doing?” Frey looked behind her, beaming. “Welcome home, Dylas! I was just getting ready to make a cake!”
“...With carrots?”
“Well yeah, it’s a carrot cake.”
Dylas rolled up his sleeves. “I’m helping.”
“What?”
“I’m helping. I’ve made these a few times at the restaurant, and the carrots need to be chopped smaller than that.” Leave it to Dylas to know those kinds of things. He was an excellent cook, after all. “Thanks, honey.” Frey said with a smile.
“It’s not a big deal…” He muttered as his cheeks became dusted with pink. “Here, let me chop the carrots. That way you can focus on getting everything else together.” Frey giggled at this. “Are you sure it’s not so you can sneak a few pieces to munch on?”
“Shaddap.”

Drabblecember Day 1: Cold Weather
Word count: 421
Lu giggled as they parted from the kiss, looking down to find a flushed Sakuya, and not just from the cold.
“I guess we should get inside now, huh? It’s late, your family’s probably waiting,” she suggested, letting her hands drop to her sides.
“I guess so, but… not yet,” he replied, looking up at her with a gentle smile.
She returned it, taking his face in her hands. His eyes softened, placing his hands on top of hers.
Lu couldn’t help getting lost in his eyes as she continued to gaze into them; a blend of deep purple and magenta, a perfect couple she didn’t know she needed to see every day until they were in her life. It was all she could ever want, and the fact that their owner was the one who wanted her around only heightened the surge of pure emotion she felt.
Sakuya couldn’t help but feel the same as he stared right back, finding himself ensnared by every feature on her face, by her smile, by simply saying her name. She was perfection, in his eyes.
And so they stood, neither daring to move or make a sound to disturb the peace that had enveloped them, surrounded by the falling snow.
However, the pillows of snow were slowly forming a blanket that covered the surrounding area, signaling the fact that it was time for them both to leave. Lu sighed, finally allowing herself to let go of him.
“I guess I’ll see you tomorrow?” She asked.
“Mhm. Be safe going home, okay?”
“I will. I mean, worst case scenario, I can use one of the Autumn Troupe members for scary dog privileges, right?”
“That wouldn’t be a bad idea, actually!” Sakuya agreed with a chuckle. “But really, we should leave.”
“Yeah… yeah. Come here for a sec?”
Sakuya complied, taking a step closer. Lu leaned down, planting a quick kiss to his cheek.
“There,” she smiled, admiring her work. “Wait, are you blushing again?”
“I-it’s just the cold!”
Now it was Lu’s turn to laugh as she ruffled his hair.
“Looks like it’s a little more than that, but I trust you.”
“Thanks,” Sakuya replied, starting to reach for the door to the Mankai dorms, “Bye, I love you! Stay safe, and don’t catch a cold!”
“I won’t, promise! Just for you! And I love you too!” Lu shouted, beginning her mad dash to her home, trying her best to avoid the icy spots.
This winter was shaping up to be pretty warm already.
