Ian: Come on, you.
The Master: This is undignified!
Ian: We're not leaving you in [the Doctor's TARDIS].
The Master: At least remove the hood.
Barbara: I suppose we are sufficiently deprogrammed... As long as we stay on our guard.
The Master: This world, again? No!
Barbara: It seems to be the same storage bay... But different- cleaner.
1st Doctor: Chesterton! Ms Wright!
Barbara: Doctor!
The Master: Oh, no... Put the hood back on. PLEASE!
(The First Doctor Adventures 1.1: The Destination Wars)
(A few minutes later...)
The Master escapes from the crate they locked him in, chuckling.
Dreyfus!Master: You weren't the only one to meet with Houdini, Doctor!

Day: 10. Not very certain about my sexual orientation or status, if you will. I have never had a strong libido with my schizoid traits playing a key role. Sex was always a physical only thing. I remember a one night stand that I had. It was wonderful, out in nature among giant trees. Couldn't be more perfect. But I couldn't wait to get her home and leave even though she invited me in for (thirds). But I was 22 and that was so many years ago.
My wife haven't been intimate in at least ten years. And the decade before that wasn't much better. Not for lack of eagerness on her part. But she is old school and feels that if a guy doesn't initiate it's because he doesn't want it.
I am repelled by intimacy. I have, however had sex with myself once or twice a week. Not imagining someone I know as a partner, just that surge forward to ring the bell and renew my dopamine levels. I do not have sexy dreams or fantasize about sex. I don't recall being sexually attracted to another in a very long time.
But I am attracted to females intellectually. Case in point, I belonged to a gymn for a while. I would ride the exercise bikes, and hope she would show up, and then hit the steam room and shower before going to work. Let's call her Pam.
The room that is set up for exercise bikes is glassed in and the lights were always off, unless a class was in progress. Pam would come in and do a few stretches on the mats then hop on her favorite bike. Always the second from the front in the left side if facing out. She would start slow, then increase her speed. She would never sprint. After she warmed up, she would stand up while not breaking her pedalling pace and let go of the handle bars. It was graceful and pure magic!
She would ride standing for a good while then settle back into the seat. It was a dance; a thing of utter beauty and she seemed unaware that she had an audience. The process would be repeated two more times. I was pedalling in the back of the same room and could mostly only see her silhouette.
I was only able to see the solo act seven or eight times. And then I never saw her again. She would towel off then leave. I wanted to see her face. But to do so would give everything away. I marveled at her beauty of movement. But never had any lust for her.
Also, I have worked for and with dozens of managers in my nursing career but none have been held in higher esteem than my current manager. Not even close. She is the nicest (can be firm when needed but has the uncanny ability to make you somehow feel good when she provides corrective criticism). She was voted nurse of the year 2022 at which time she was also divorcing her husband. She is raising two young children, mostly by herself, she manages an ER with over 100 staff not including physicians, residents and advance practice nurses. OBTW she is at this time completing her master's degree. My word, did I leave anything out?
She is also pretty but I don't think she knows it. She reminds me of a 5'8" version of Julie Dreyfus. When she asks you to do something, there is no question. It gets done.
So she is my professional "crush". She is destined for advancement. I will miss her and remember her fondly.
So, am I asexual even though I have solo sex with no real person in mind? Or is it something else? And as you might guess I may be aromantic as well. I enjoy reading about romance occasionally but think that it is for me, unattainable. I've tried to be romantic with my wife, compliment her, bring her flowers, rub her feet. But it all feels so contrived and doesn't last. I'm a shit husband. But on the other hand I take good care of all her needs and can't imagine life without her 🤍💛.

This is the Christmas Station ID of TV5 in 2010. The Christmas Station ID was themed “Maligayang Pasko, Kapatid! In the Service of the Filipino”. The Station ID is accompanied with the Christmas version of “Para Sa’yo Kapatid” performed by Jose Mari Chan and Apo Hiking Society featuring Regine Velasquez. But somehow, Ogie Alcasid and Regine Velasquez also performed the original version of the “Para Sa’yo Kapatid” in June 30, 2010.

But somehow, Vin Abrenica, Sophie Albert, Mark Neumann, Shaira Mae Diaz, Akihiro Blanco and Chanel Morales moved to ABS-CBN where they became the Artista Academy students with the others from around the world.
The Christmas Station ID also features Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, Bill Hader and Jason Momoa as the special guests as they are seen in the 2010 Summer Station ID of ABS-CBN which is "Galaw-Galaw sa Tag-Araw" in an alternate dimension where they are counterparts of Ryan Agoncillo, Teddy Corpuz, Billy Crawford and Vhong Navarro who are the hosts of It's Showtime on ABS-CBN since 2005 and even the ABS-CBN love team "CathNiel" in which Catherine Bernardo and Daniel Padilla were together since 2005. But 10 years from now, Ryan Agoncillo, Teddy Corpuz, Billy Crawford and Vhong Navarro will appear as guests of TV5.
Somehow, This was also the only Christmas Station ID to feature Marky Cielo before his death in November 30, 2012 due to a cardiac arrest. Somehow, Mel Tiangco, Howie Severino, James Reid, Nadine Lustre, Diego Loyzaga, Ion Perez, Barbie Imperial, Rhian Ramos, Aljur Abrenica, Elle Villanueva, John Vic de Guzman, Julia Montes and twin sisters Anne Curtis and Jasmine Curtis-Smith don’t appear in the Christmas Station ID at this point due to their retirement from TV5. Also, Ram Revilla did not appear because he died in December 30, 2009. But Dominic Roco and Felix Roco appeared as special guests since they left TV5 in 2010. But in 2017, They will return to portray as Rantaro and Ranjiro Kiyama from Beyblade Burst Sparking when it airs on TV5 in 2017.
The Christmas Station ID theme will be re-used in the 2011 Christmas Station ID from TV5 which is “Magpasaya ng Kapatid” but with minor changes.

At the Argus conference in Istanbul, someone asked me if I had ever thought about hedging the fertiliser business through agricultural commodities trading. I tried to recall which major agricultural trading houses had ever ventured into the fertiliser market.
It’s intriguing that giants like Dreyfus, ADM, Toepfer, or Bunge haven’t found the same success in fertiliser trading despite their dominance in agricultural commodities. One might think their deep market knowledge and extensive networks in grain trading would position them for success in fertilisers, but the reality is more complex.
Fertilisers are closely tied to energy markets, especially natural gas, and mined resources like potash and phosphates. While these companies handle agricultural commodities, where pricing is more transparent, fertilisers operate in opaque markets driven by local factors, regulations, and geopolitical issues. This makes fertiliser hedging through agricultural commodities less effective.
Logistics further complicate things. Fertilisers are bulky, need to be transported across vast distances, and must arrive within specific planting windows. The precision needed in fertiliser distribution is far more challenging than that of grains, where storage and delivery are more flexible.
Moreover, the fertiliser market is dominated by a few large players, making it difficult for newcomers like ADM or Dreyfus to gain ground. Unlike grain trading, fertilisers involve dealing with strong regional players, less transparent pricing systems, and complex regulations.
Then there’s the issue of risk management. Hedging fertiliser positions with agricultural commodities seems logical, but the two markets aren’t perfectly correlated. Fertiliser prices depend on energy costs and mining outputs, which make hedging across commodities complicated and often unreliable.
Despite their vast resources and networks, these companies faced challenges they weren’t fully equipped to overcome in fertilisers. Their experience highlights the complexity of the fertiliser market, where success requires mastering logistics, risk management, and navigating a unique set of market dynamics.
And yes, I do remember Ameropa.

Wood Engraving Wednesday
PETER REDDICK
This week we present a few of the wood engravings from the 35 wood engravings by the notable English wood engraver Peter Reddick (1924-2010) for the 1969 Limited Editions Club production of The Poems of Robert Browning, designed by John Dreyfus and printed at the University Printing House in Cambridge by University master printer Brooke Crutchley in a limited edition of 1500 copies signed by the artist.
After contracting polio in 1958, making it difficult for him to pursue his painting efforts, Peter Reddick turned to wood engraving as his primary medium. He illustrated more than 50 books and is especially noted for his interpretations of the works of Thomas Hardy. With the diminishment of wood engraving in the 1960s and 1970s, Reddick helped to sustain the medium during that time, and is credited, along with contemporaries such as George Tute, David Gentleman, and Simon Brett, with reviving the medium in the 1980s to its more elevated status today.

SO assuming both the War Chief and Pavo are the Master (which I do), then the answer is...
The first Master intentionally regenerated so he could have a younger body (Flashback, DWM comic)
The second Master got shot by the Meddling Monk (The Black Hole, Big Finish audio)
We don't know how the third Master died, but I headcanon her as the Master who was on Gallifrey when the Doctor left (as seen in Celestial Intervention: A Gallifreyan Noir, short story in the Twelve Angels Weeping collection), and probably the Master who stole a Tardis herself
The fourth Master died due to exposure to a black hole forming around his Tardis and tearing him apart. Due to the sheer violence of this, this cost him more then one regeneration. How many is not specified, but it is at least three. I am saying it was six regenerations - since that lines up with how many incarnations of the Master we know about. (The Dark Path, a Virgin Missing Adventure book)
The ninth Master (this is the one James Dreyfus played on Big Finish, btw) died in a Trastevarian jail, with this regeneration needing the Sisterhood of Karn's Elixir of Life in order to be completed successfully.
The tenth Master was shot by the War Lords (the War Games, a tv story).
The eleventh Master was killed in a nuclear reactor explosion (Timewyrm: Exodus, a Virgin New Adventures book).
Delgado's Master was the Master's twelfth incarnation, whilst the Doctor was only on their third at the time. This begs the question... what on earth was the Master doing that caused so many regenerations? I mean, presumably planet takeovers, but how clumsy was he? What sort of slapstick, Wile E. Coyote shenanigans was he getting into that made him burn through so many bodies in such a relatively short amount of time? I need to know! I need a montage sequence set to 'Dumb Ways To Die'!

Watch Every Dylan G. F-Bomb Here...
Mastering the Art of the Swear Word Some performers elevate swearing to an art form, weaving profanities into their personas so seamlessly, it’s almost poetic. From Al Pacino’s iconic Tony Montana to Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ ruthless Selina Meyer, the pantheon of prolific profanity-users is a distinguished one. Names like Mark Wahlberg’s Sergeant Dignam and Joe Pesci’s unforgettable turns as Tommy…

hello!! sorry, i just finished watching new who and i am DYING for more thoschei content. i know classic who has more obviously but i heard there are like also books and audio dramas and comics and infinite other stuff (?) and i was wondering if you could recommend like a list of things to stream in order to get to know more of these two idiots (affectionate) as i am a bit lost in between all the content. or if you could point out a source where i can look that up for myself, it would be great as well! thank you so much in advance <3 and sorry if this seems silly i am v new to the fandom rip
hey anon!! no need to apologize, i'm honored this ask ended up in my inbox! :) and it's not silly at all, there's a LOT of stuff out there. which is wonderful! but can def be a bit bewildering, too.
i'd definitely recommend classic who as a place to start! don't feel like you need to go in headfirst w/ s1e1 tho. just jump in wherever interests you! if you'd like a slightly more curated d/m list:
terror of the autons/the mind of evil/the claws of axos: okay, so it was almost impossible for me not to just rec “all the three & delgado eps,” so have the first three & feel free to continue on if you find yourself loving them (you will)
the keeper of traken/logopolis/castrovalva: a proper lil trilogy of stories that gives us four -> five & beevers -> ainley
survival: the final dw ep! seven & ainley 😼
for some not-really-classic but still on-screen essentials:
the tv movie: aka “the enemy within.” eight & roberts 🐍
scream of the shalka: an animated webcast that at one point rly was the canonical ninth doctor. shalka!doctor (r. e. grant) & shalka!master (jacobi. yes, again. or previously, rather.)
the curse of fatal death: a comic relief sketch written by moffat which features a het version of d/m getting together romantically (now why does that sound familiar?)
for audios, here's a couple that are both standalone & very d/m-focused:
master: seven & beevers. a great audio ft. an origin story that is probably one of the most talked abt things on tumblr, so def check this one out!!
the last line: ten & jacobi. when you're on trial, who do you call for help? your best enemy, of course
blood of the time lords: four & dreyfus. a must-include for me personally bc it has one of my fave d/m concepts ever :)
for books, once you're in the deep end all the novelizations of the classic d/m eps can have great tidbits. some original story recs:
the dark path: two & “koschei.” another origin story that gave us that name for a pre-master master, written by our d/m comrade-in-arms david mcintee
harvest of time: three & delgado working together & confronting the past w/ a lovely dose of master angst
the infinity doctors: infinity & the magistrate <3. don't let these names or its timeline placement intimidate you, just go into it with the idea that this is an au (ish) where the doctor & the master both returned to gallifrey & you'll enjoy yourself!
and finally some comics:
flashback: another origin story which i've uploaded here :)
the eleventh doctor year two: the eleventh doctor confronts the time war ft. my fave lil guy the war child master!
doctor who: missy: aka “the master plan.” missy breaks delgado out of stormcage while pretending to be a version of the doctor he hasn't met yet
hopefully these will get you started! for even more, the main resource i use when looking for d/m stuff is the theory timelines for the master & the master's incarnations on the wiki! i just poke around & click links until i find something that sounds interesting! enjoy!!! :)

Robert Liensol and Jenny Alpha in The Old Sorceress and the Valet (Julius-Amédée Laou, 1987)
Cast: Jenny Alpha, Robert Liensol, Christine Amat, Jean-François Perrier, Jean-Claude Fal, Sophie Pal, Jacques Martial, Jean-Claude Dreyfus, Roger Lemus, Jean-Marie Retby. Screenplay: Julius-Amédée Laou. Cinematography: Jean-Paul Miotto. Film editing: Sophie Chailley, Tamara Pappe. Music: Leona Gabrielle, Ernest Léardée, Jean-Claude Mejstelman, Stellio.
Julius-Amédée Laou's The Old Sorceress and the Valet is not a particularly obscure film: Enough people have seen it for it to have a page on Letterboxd, though not on Wikipedia. But it deserves to be better-known, if only for the performances of Jenny Alpha and Robert Liensol, who play the title couple, an elderly husband and wife reflecting on their life together. We first see Armand at the breakfast table waiting for his wife, Eugénie, to join him. When she rises from the bed, she calls out for him to bring her robe, but he doesn't respond, even when she joins him, grumbling and scolding. And then he disappears from the apartment and we see Eugénie in her nightgown at a window, calling out for him, a moment that recurs throughout the movie. We then concentrate on Eugénie herself, as she deals with a variety of clients who have come to her for her aid as a sorceress: One woman wants help in murdering her husband, a man wants another man to fall in love with him, and so on. In addition to potions, Eugénie offers advice, much of it sensible. Then the major thread of the film begins: Eugénie and Armand take a walk through Paris, reflecting -- usually bitterly and angrily, but sometimes with tenderness -- on their life together. As the film proceeds, we notice some discontinuities: Eugénie, for example, sometimes walks with a cane or carries a purse, but not always. We see them trapped on a traffic island as they try to cross a busy thoroughfare, and then we see Eugénie alone, being rescued from the island by two policemen. We gather that there has been discord throughout their life in Paris ever since they came there, many decades ago, from Martinique. Alpha, the actress who plays her, was a celebrated performer in nightclubs and on stage, and Eugénie was a showgirl until age reduced her to her current job, dealing with a mostly white clientele. Armand was a valet to a man they refer to as "Master," with whom Eugénie had an affair. The film builds to a revelation that probably doesn't surprise many who see it, and in fact feels a little clumsily handled. But what matters are the haunting insights into the lives of the characters, superbly embodied by their performers.
