Every now and then I re-read Minna Sundberg's testimonial comic about her journey back to being a Christian, and every time it's somehow worse

She went from being a Christian child to being the kind of atheist you'd see in the 8th God's Not Dead sequel, genuinely delighting in other people's suffering, being upset when mass deaths weren't big enough, and only holding herself back from trying to redpill others because even she thought that if everyone acted like her society would collapse, and she liked having things like access to clean water

Here’s a sort of…. Prompt? Headcanon? Idea?? For Danny Phantom.

Let’s go with the,, semi-fanon idea of cores. We see the Far Frozen with ice powers, with their whole little civilization. They are ALSO the only ghosts we see that have any medical knowledge.

So what if ghosts with ice cores had healing powers? Danny is very durable, but he also (probably) has advanced healing.

Idk, it’d be a fun possibility to explore Danny ‘plays as a tank in irl superheroics 4 times out of 5’ Phantom finding out he can heal people while doing a school-mandated cpr class.

There are exactly three situations Drift would describe as so utterly exasperating that he’d have to leave the room to cool off.

The first in that list had once been being in a room with Starscream and Skywarp after a particularly heated strategic meeting. He recalls, with a lack of fondness he’d often only reserved to the Decepticon second in command, times when Starscream would try to make small talk or gossip or god forbid make connections that simply remembering them makes his energon boil in his lines.

The third one, easily beginning to rise to second place or possibly skipping directly towards first, was watching Hot Rod attempt —and fail— to master a sword-handling trick that Drift had sparsely mentioned.

He wants to be patient, and he wants to be kind— Hot Rod is his friend, now, and they belong to the same faction. His goal has always been to simply lay low and be accepting and sweet until— well, he’s not even sure until what anymore, if an endgame even exists. He’s starting to think the whole “why don’t you infiltrate the Autobots” shtick had just been an offhand joke that he took too seriously.

It doesn’t even matter. There is fondness in his spark that tightens around it when he grips the holster to his sword in a poor attempt to not become violent.

“Hot Rod,” he starts, and his tone is a little too angry. It’s been hours, and not only will Hot Rod not give up, he also won’t improve. “I have fixed your posture 10 times in the past twenty minutes. I don’t care that you think you look cool, this—“ Drift straightens Hot Rod’s posture, widens his stance by gently kicking his feet. “—is the proper way to fight. If your legs are too close together, your balance is easily thrown off. If your posture is not straight, you cannot have as much strength to your blows, and will certainly ruin your spine in record time.”

His voice is restrained. He wants to make this work.

“You fight. I’ve seen you fight. Your posture during hand to hand combat is impeccable— so please forgive me if I am starting to think you’re just fucking with me at this point.”

I think before year 9 teachers have a bit more freedom in what they teach and maybe the private schools are more likely to teach the odyssey, but broadly speaking, no, it isn't taught. I have read the odyssey on my own time and I guess it's because it's a relatively hard book to read (your average 8 year old is probably going to struggle) so it's the kind of thing you'd have people read at GCSE level but a book you'd study at GCSE (which you study from 14-16) it has to be a British book and also fall into one of four specific categories we study one shakespeare play, one 19th century text, one 20th century text, and a selection of short poems/one page extracts of poems). The Odyssey is obviously not British and even if it was idk if they'd put it in the poem section (what would be the most suitable one page extract).

Maybe people study it at A-level (done age 16-18) (a quick google suggests no) but by that stage a lot of people have stopped studying english literature

you groaned, pretending to be a particularly heavy sleeper.

"hey," he repeated, poking your shoulder. you swatted his hand away, a silent leave me alone conveyed through the power of sleepy aggression.

"sweetheart. darling. my bestest friend. my favorite person in the entire universe. sugar-plum. chickadee. kitten-kins. schnukapussy."

"what?" you mumbled, your voice thick with sleep.

"do you want to play a game? like, a card game or something?"

"what?" you repeated, your brain still trying to process the concept of coherent sentences. "it's the middle of the night. why are you awake?"

"i'm bored. my brain won't shut up. it's like a radio stuck between stations."

"and you thought waking me up would fix that? now we're both going to be miserable," you grumbled, turning over.

"…so, about that game?" he asked, sounding genuinely hopeful.

you stared at him, resisting the urge to express your frustration with a well-placed pillow. "this is what happens when you eat a whole bag of candy before bed. you turn into a nocturnal gremlin."

he shrugged. "oops."

"don't 'oops' me. i'm trying to sleep."

"but you're awake now," he pointed out, with infuriating logic.

"that's not the point!" you sighed, pulling the covers over your head.

he gave you a look that said, "please? with a cherry on top?" and, against your better judgment, you caved. you sighed, pulling him closer. "fine. no games. but i'll do the hair thing. the one that makes you sleepy."

he settled against you, all warm and impossibly comfortable. "until i'm asleep?"

"yes," you said, keeping you eyes trained on him. "until you're asleep."

as you ran your hands through his white locks, he was out in minutes, snoring softly. you smiled, finally feeling yourself drift off.

then, just as you were about to fall asleep, your brain decided to stage a revolt. wide awake. you stared at the ceiling, wondering if you could convince gojo to share his ability to function on zero sleep. to say the least, this would be a long night.
