Finding That Perfect Fanfic

So after experiencing some of the toxicity of some areas of the Fandom I choose to start creating my own spaces for authors to promote their fics and readers to find their fics. I've created three reddit communities dedicated to helping readers/writers/artists find a safe place and not having to worry about negativity. Some may say this will stifle speech or that holy grail of concrit, but honestly, if you want to be negative, there are a million other places. So I invite you to four different positivity-orientated communities where bashing will not be tolerated. R/Sirimione is a subreddit dedicated to Hermione and Sirius. I have also started building a resource to find fics by creating a Sirimione Directory of fics by category. Its still being worked out and I'd appreciate any help I could get making it better if you want to join up and discuss Sirimione fanfics!

R/HermioneAndHarry is a subreddit dedicated to Hermione and Harry. I have a resource to find fics by creating a Harmony Directory of fics by category. Its quite extensive as this Directory has the most work into by me and I'm most familiar with this ship as it is my OTP. R/WeasleyFanfics is a subreddit dedicated to Weasley focused fanfics. I have a resource to find fics by creating a Weasley Directory of fics by category. Its still being worked out and I'd appreciate any help I could get making it better if you want to join up and discuss Weasley fanfics!

i might be talking out of my arse here, but I feel like i saw drinny everywhere in like 2006 but now it's a rare-pair.

i have no idea why this might be - obviously the fandom now ascribes more controversy to death eater/non-death eater pairings; obviously the tendency among fans who go in for non-canon stuff is to read and write slash pairings, rather than het ones with other than the canon endgame couples; and obviously the major exceptions to this are dramione [which uses up draco] and harmony [which is - i'll be frank - usually written to get rid of the weasleys as quickly as possible] - but all of these things were true in the 00s too...

[my actual theory is that ginny functions less well as a self-insert - in the way that perfect fanon!hermione is typically used - because she's a smaller and more imperfect character in the books and she could have been played by a chair in the films and lost nothing of her character arc, and that this means that people who are keen on "omg tom felton draco malfoy is interested in little ol' me" fics don't write them with her in the reader role...]

but yeah, i'm actually quite fond of it as a concept. one of the things i think is really underappreciated about the canonical ginny is that she's clearly extremely petty and vindictive [how else was she feeding secrets into the diary strong enough to resurrect the biggest bitch hogwarts has ever known?], but in a really teenage way - harry is forced by his narrative role to be almost preternaturally mature, but ginny's beef even towards the end of deathly hallows is that her mam is being mean and treating her like a child.

that sort of flop energy aligns extremely well with draco's canon vibe [never tells a joke that lands]. i mean, we can all imagine "yeah, zabini, because you're so talented... at posing" coming out of draco's mouth, and yet it's a direct quote from ginevra molly weasley.

i back the two of them to really quite enjoy sitting in front of the telly while some sort of red-carpet coverage is on, thinking their running commentary on the stars' outfits is funny and/or good. and enjoying spending time with each other is, really, all you need in a relationship...

So how many of my drinny mutuals are reading this masterpiece??

I literally cannot recommend this fic enough! It’s a masterpiece. The author is updating it regularly and the slow burn is truly off the charts. Chemistry is oozing!

To top it all off the world building is insane! It’s set in a universe where Harry doesn’t exist, or at least there was no chosen one to stop Voldemort and Voldemort has already died after creating a world based on blood purity.

The descendants of 13 “Sacred” pure blood families who originally helped Voldemort in gain power are running the world. Draco is obviously the top 1 % and Ginny’s the descendant of Blood Traitors.

If you all get a chance please read it! There’s resistance too, in the form of Order but they’re mostly secretly operating. I don’t think I am doing justice to how engaging this fic is. Please read the fic rather than reading my inadequate attempts at explaining this masterpiece!

I want to know what you guys think: when it comes to a partner for Draco, who should it be? I ship Draco with Harry but we’re not counting that, I guess Astoria, since, I do love me some tragic romance, but the impact and their story is more interesting than the ship itself. But Draco is 100% gay in my mind.
