I used to stalk the druck tag without a blog and I wanted to get involved!! Once a skam acc always a skam acc…

It resonated a lot with me. I’ve had it for years. It’s just a little quote from a book I love, grief is the thing with feathers. And I will Never move on. It’s one of my last acts of love

I’m pretty sure it’s a post I made before only friends aired joking abt the type of product placements they’d have. Every time someone likes it I’m reminded of how they failed me via NONE OF IT tho. That show Needed some product placement BAD imo

As if they didn't try to flirt by kicking each other, cleaning their dirty hands on the other one's jacket, pretending to be super into cleaning up, "forgetting" the other one's beanie just to talk to them, sending embarrassing gifs and holding their breath in an EMPTY fucking swimming pool for the last 9 weeks!

Impressions/Vibes of Isak remake seasons so far:

[DISCLAIMER: I know opinions/comparing remakes is taboo, but heck, I can’t stop myself.  I love each remake so much so if my opinions feel biased towards any of them it’s probably because I can put my feelings/perceptions towards it (whether tinged negative or positive) into words more easily than others]

Italia: Storylines true to og flow, retelling a la shiny Italian backdrop.  Beautiful landscapes and cinematography.  Everything feels vivid and the setting breathes a unique life into the story that makes it shine apart from og.  One scene I can’t get out of my head is the backdrop of the derelict structure with the graffiti face after he saw Nicolo back with his girlfriend in and fighting with Elia in episode 5.  It so perfectly encapsulated what was tearing him apart the inside out.  An overall huge sense of warmth - the boy crew actors had such easy, seamless chemistry that they gave more depth to their friendship and relationship.  Like og, but unlike France and somewhat Druck, lack of girl crew in later half season felt like there was a missing piece that rounded out Italia, especially after we fell so hard for them in the Eva & Noora seasons to then be separated.  Overall season felt more mature.  Felt like it could be a story about university students with same storyline but not set at a high school.

France: Passionate and super romanticized with lots of fire [Lucas’ quick, rash actions made him morph into his own character right from 1st ep].  Epic artistic renditions of major scenes that breathed unique charm. You cannot watch an episode of Skam France without marveling over how beautiful and jaw-dropping the actors are.  Manon is other-worldly,  Lucas has the most beautiful face and expressive eyes.  And Maxence...yeah no words needed.  Because the actors were so painfully attractive and looked more mature (no high school kids look like THAT) it made it feel less relatable like we should idolize them instead of seeing ourselves in the characters. The addition of the girl crew was a highlight and made the story breathe in a new way.  I was uneasy about Yann and boy crew relationship going into the season but you could see them melding closer together throughout the season and truly represented our flailing reactions.

Druck: Realistic unglamorized snapshot.  Minimal to very limited glamour shots.  Cinematography feels of a lower-budget indie movie, a lot of scenes/ backgrounds tinged with green and cold colors that gives it a harsh, more realistic like a documentary edge, but a storyline that keeps you intrigued until the end.  Actors casted are very close to character age (majority under 20...Chris Veres (Axel) is the only one skewing the age group at 25).  They may stand-out as attractive, pretty kids in school but are “unpolished” compared to the other remakes (example: Matteo is a mess but so pretty under his [charmingly] disheveled hair), kids you might actually find in the hallways of your school, none would be considered overwhelmingly attractive or modelesque.  The way they are mixing up the og storyline is incredibly fresh and frustrating.  A big anxiety for me is the way they are working to weaken the Jonas/Matteo relationship. In s2 Jonas isolated/distanced himself from Matteo (while dealing with separation from Hanna) and it pushed Matteo to gravitate towards Sara who was sweet and pretty and liked him.  And now we see it subtle ways, like that text where Carlos asks Jonas to see if anything is up with Matteo and he brushes it off.

Example: In the first party Matteo could be written off as grumpy but in the second Matteo runs and hides in his room for the rest of the party.  Is Jonas just blind or misplacing his priorities?  Both times he looks at Matteo as he walks away so he knows something is off but let’s Matteo be “just Matteo”.

Also, they gave a new depth and complexity to the Sara/Matteo relationship because instead of straight up using her as a decoy to his undefined sexuality he truly cares and wants to make her happy and makes ending their relationship much more difficult.

I know the wait time between clips and being anxious about everything is painful, but I’m not as worried (or worried in different ways lol) about the time between David’s coming out and them reuniting.

When David told him Matteo’s reaction was far from repulsed or disgusted as a sad majority of the general public would react (including LGBTQ+ people) based on ignorance, bigotry, general assholeness, etc.  There is so little LGBTQ+ representation anywhere, let alone teen, and then transgender...and then transman???...which I have 100% never seen in tv or movies...that it makes a bit more sense that someone who is not actively delving into LGBTQ+ topics and issues would react based on their ignorance and fear (channeling Sana/Amira right now).

Matteo just came out as gay and had been struggling hard trying to find where he would “fit” in a toxic wasteland of gay stereotypes perpetuated by media and Matteo’s limited knowledge of anything gay, let alone LGBTQ+.  And I’m 99% sure Hans is the first gay man he’s ever held a conversation with...

So, our gayby, who is madly in love with David, never reacted badly but just quiet “I don’t know what any of this means” deer in headlights stupor.  When Matteo said he didn’t know how to respond David replied encouragingly that it was okay.  When they talked back and forth a bit and David said he really liked him Matteo was so relieved and smiled a bit.

When David left, David was the one who pulled away to give Matteo time to process - completely on good terms.  David acknowledged this time for Matteo and I’m sure he wants Matteo to come back when he’s more mature (not sure how to say it...have more knowledge/more of a clue of what’s going on) and ready to talk.

And if we compare this ep to ep 9 of OG we aren’t behind schedule.  Isak had his laptop search clip 2 days after the hotel scene and we got the same 2 days in-between scenes with Druck.  OG had scenes on both Tuesday & Wednesday (and then main clip on Friday) so things are looking good for clips the rest of the week (also Druck usually puts out clips 6 of 7 days per week).

druck is the only remake with actors of actual high school age and you can feel it.  the innocence and the awkwardness is so natural and authentic and pure.  it is another element that makes druck so raw and realistic and this is my kind of shit.

Watching Druck S8 feels like a toxic relationship you cannot get out of, because you remember all the wonderful moments and happiness you experienced in the beginning... and now you're clinging onto that, hoping that it will get better soon, that something will change (POV's!! lol), but you're just disappointed as it gradually gets worse and worse and worse...

I don’t think I should judge Jonas so early when we don’t know what is to come, but I agree that the “it’s just Matteo” comment hurt.  

It reminds me of Jonas’ comment in s2 ep10 (the one we first saw Beanie Boy) where Hanna says that Matteo was worried about Jonas.  Jonas gets defensive and says “he should talk to me then”...which is super hypocritical as he kept pushing Matteo away.  And then, the part that gut-punched me is when he says “he needs to get a girlfriend so he leaves me alone”.

Ignoring the last text, I’m still upset about that.  Matteo was probably feeling so lonely and depressed because he was being shut-out completely and no one was there for him in return.  Jonas’ comments were spot-on foreshadowing as Matteo got closer to Sara, who was pretty and sweet and liked him, and was someone who “leads” and nudges their relationship along.

Matteo’s seemingly apathetic exterior served as such a big defense mechanism that he can hide his true feelings and deflect any attention.  It got easier and easier for him to slip behind that his closest friends, like Jonas, could reduce his identity to it.

However, there are two examples of when Matteo isn’t “just Matteo” and visibly upset about something in both party scenes.  

In the first party Matteo could be written off as grumpy but in the second Matteo runs and hides in his room for the rest of the party.  Is Jonas just blind or is he misplacing his priorities?  Both times he looks at Matteo as he walks away so he knows something is off but let’s Matteo be “just Matteo”. 

The great thing about David is that Matteo was magnetically attracted to him at first sight and quickly became the first person that he wanted to SEE him.  When they first spent time together Matteo was so open and vulnerable, like when shared his anxiety about what he will do after graduating.  And on Friday after his panic attack he didn’t hesitate in voicing his feelings to David.

A big plot point in Isak’s season is when he finally goes to Jonas after Jonas kept reaching out to him and told him that his friends weren’t mad at him just worried.  I can’t see this same thing playing out in Druck...yet.  There is plenty of time for this to change, but I definitely felt something fishy after what Jonas said in the last ep of s2 and felt like it wasn’t by accident.  A theory, since Jonas took his break-up with Hanna so bad I wonder if Matteo’s actions would be revealed and cause a big riff.  I can’t see Jonas getting over that easily.  

So much is coming and I’m preparing myself.
