Rhythmic: Follows the rhythm/percussion of a song. Will not play over any other gyroid in this group, including itself (sorry, you can’t make the wallopoids fight each other).

Two new additions to my ever-growing gyroid family

I couldn’t take it anymore.

Marathon wallopoid has been destroyed.

In its place, I offer you this discovery from my experimentation:

While wallopoid don’t harmonize with each other, they also won’t harmonize with drummoid and will display the same “taking turns” behavior if they are both active. Yes, this does mean that drummoid also go crazy for K.K. Marathon, but it’s just not as funny looking.

Currently, I suspect that gyroids are separated into a few categories based on which parts of the song they play along with, which affects how they react to other gyroids.

I’ve only noticed a change in behavior with “rhythm” gyroids, and I’ve only determined wallopoid and drummoid as belonging to this group. There may be other rhythm gyroids, and it might just be the rhythm gyroids that won’t play over each other. Most other types seem to ignore other gyroids and only change behavior if they’re with their own kind, in which case they’ll harmonize, but to be honest it’s a little hard to tell.
