The DSS indiscriminately bombarding everything and every one is the funniest possible outcomes for the game, the narrative, and Arrowhead. Seriously, genuinely, fantastic job devs. I'm not being sarcastic even a little bit. This is the best possible outcome.

Let me tell you a little history about fascist wonder weapons.

See, during the rise of European fascism in the 30s, the fascists started dumping a ton of time and resources and money into superweapon programs. The idea was that they could make a weapon strong enough to win the next war and conquer Europe if only they put enough time and money into figuring it out. Tons of resources, figuratively and literally, were poured into these programs that, at best, provided mediocre results.

The Maus, the King Tiger, the Graf Zepplin, the Bismark, Heavy Gustav, the list goes on and on and on. Each one stronger than the last. Each one capable of ending the war.

Meanwhile, the Allies built perfectly serviceable and easily manufactured machines and absolutely rolled over the wunderwaffen. They were, at best, novelties and at worst dangerous to anyone who might be operating them.

The DSS being a Super Earth Wunderwaffe is fucking amazing. Of course High Command was so blinded by the 77 Presidential Class orbital cannons that they never bothered to figure out how useful this weapon would actually be for soldiers on the ground. Of course they are going to deploy swarms of Eagles with no strategy or focus. It's about sending a message. Super Earth is the biggest, baddest motherfuckers around. Who cares if it is basically fucking useless and at best a decent tool for sending somewhere far away from you. It's literally perfect.

The community getting mad about this or thinking this is in any way an accident from the devs need to think about why this might be frustrating to the Helldivers on the ground, and the enormous loss of life in universe that came from the Wunderwaffe. Is it fun to play with? Absolutely not. But see, sometimes games are about more than fun. Sometimes they make you think. Maybe the DSS is a chance to reflect on the story being presented and share a hearty chuckle with the developers.

Да, я снова пропал. В этот раз я отсутствовал дольше, чем во все предыдущие разы.

А хотите знать причину? Да я сам не знаю. Времени не хватает работать над этим проектом. Весь материал у меня готов с конца декабря прошлого 2024 года, но я до сих пор не закончил 8 выпуск. В этом виноват только я сам. Я ленюсь и все время откладываю работу. К примеру, я мог бы давно сделать эту работу у себя на стримах на твиче, но нет, я и там этим не занимаюсь. Возможно это ещё из-за того, что я в какой-то мере все еще стесняюсь своего лица на камере. В заснятых материалах я так выглядел еще хуже. Тем не менее, это не значит, что я ничего не делал. Я недавно приобрел графический планшет, на котором сейчас и учусь рисовать. Вот к примеру картинка открывающая этот пост. Как для 1 +- серьезной работы пойдет. Это не шедевр, лайн можно было сделать нормальным, но так как это все с самого начала не было серьёзной работой, я считаю, что это даже неплохо.

А, что за темно-красный человек справа? Если вы подумали про Человека-паука, то вы недалеко от правды, но все же это не совсем он. Хочу отметить, что он уже появлялся в блоге, только 1 раз. Скоро расскажу о нём отдельно. Следите за обновлениями!

Yes, I'm missing again. This time I was absent longer than all the previous times.

Do you want to know the reason? I don’t know myself. I don’t have enough time to work on this project. All the material I have been ready since the end of December last 2024, but I still haven’t finished the 8th issue. It’s only my fault. I’m lazy and put off work all the time. For example, I could have done this work on my Twitch streams a long time ago (yes, who doesn’t know, I still stream on Twitch, but everything there is aimed at the Russian-speaking audience, so English-speaking readers of this blog have nothing to do there) but no, I don’t do it there either. Maybe it’s also because I’m still ashamed of my face on camera to some extent. I looked even worse in the footage. Nevertheless, it doesn’t mean that I didn’t do anything. I recently bought a graphics tablet, on which I am now learning to draw. Here, for example, is a picture opening this post. As for 1 +- serious work will do. It’s not a masterpiece, the line could have been made normal, but since it wasn’t serious work from the very beginning, I think it’s even not bad.

Oh, what kind of dark red man on the right? If you thought about Spider-Man, then you are not far from the truth, but still it’s not quite him. I want to note that he has already appeared on the blog, only once. I’ll tell you about it separately soon. Follow the updates!

DSS needs More options

Helldivers! I come today to propose an idea that should spread. We all know the DSS by now yes? The mighty battle station of democracy that is used to help us collect the community on target worlds and unleash the might of super earth resources. Well I notice 2 resources going to waste that are not used in the DSS.

As it stands, the Eagles use common, the 380 uses rares and the Blockade uses Requisition slips. Now not counting super credits which are the premium currency, that still leaves Warbond Medals and Super samples as unused, having no Sinks to bleed off excess once all the things that are tied to those things are used up. As someone who plays regularly i often end up sitting with 250/250 warbond medals for months at a time between new warbond releases. Similarly until a tier 6 upgrade package is released for the super destroyers, I have absolutely nothing to spend samples on except the DSS, so why is it only 2 of the 3 sample times are usable for it?

Now I'm not going to claim I know what these two currencies should be used for. Off hand the 3 powers we have are fairly well balanced and helpful. However it does feel like the lack of use of the other 2 easily renewable resources is a waste of potential. Something that feels like it should be rectified, maybe with an MO based around upgrading the DSS with resources from either the illuminate or the bots.

Do I have suggestions? Oh definitely. For super samples there are only 2 things i logically think could help. First, is that it doesn't have a unique power but that donating boosts the other 3 (to 4) powers all at once. Speeding up the process of using the DSS and it's abilities. so you can donate and all other powers would get a proportional amount of boost. I'd also assume the max would be 25 to fit the pattern of 75-50-25 with samples. The other option is some kind of booster to Orbital Lasers. Given that the Orbital laser is pretty much the premier field clearing stratagem i feel like it would make the most sense compared to the Rare sample 380.

As for warbonds, well similar to the supers the idea would be a booster to the other 3, my idea being warbond medals being used to speed up recovery times. After all some times the time it takes for those boosters to start being donated to again can be crippling during MOs. So it would make sense for it to be used to buy the resources needed to speed up the DSS in times of struggle. If you wanted a traditional boost, then i guess the natural choice would be to make it a booster like Req-slips. Maybe even like make it 2, the More Health and More stamina boosters both being active. timed right that would give diver teams up to 7 boosters total which could really see a lot of playing around with booster types if the 3 most basic and helpful boosters don't need to be accounted for. Obviously the max would be 250 like how req-slips can be donated at the max amount you can hold for them.

Again this is all just speculation and I am sure arrowhead could pick much better more logical choices then I can but i still feel like we should bring the idea to the rest of the community and too arrowhead to add these 2 missing resources to teh DSS and it's list of things it can do through community work together.

Absolutely emotional at this bit in Death Sets Sail:

Hazel asking people if they heard it, if they heard Daisy say her name and everyone looking at her pitifully, like they know she's grieving but she's practically begging for someone to remember it with her, because if no-one remembers Daisy's last word how can they remember Daisy at all. Her father saying "fear and grief will do funny things to people's senses" and of course she knows that and her detective side says that if no-one else remembers something the one person who does is most likely mistaken but she SWEARS that Daisy said her name, she must have she must have she must have, what else would have Daisy's last words be other than her name? Daisy's name would have been Hazel's last word. It's hard to hear her own name after Daisy falls because it's always been DaisyandHazel, and now when people call her Hazel they're forgetting the fact that that Hazel isn't her name, that actually 'Hazel' is lying at the bottom of the Nile, Daisy took it when she went in, and Hazel isn't truly Hazel without a Daisy around to say it. Their names to each other were like a language in themself, moments of realisation and joy and sadness and delight and anger, and Hazel lies in bed at Fallingford wondering if when Daisy said 'Hazel' it really meant help.
