Gyomei: Another way to tell is by the nicknames. The little ones call me Mei-Mei, so if they call me Mei-Mei, I know they’re little. This is really common with the younger ones— or more emotionally unsettled ones, as I mentioned.

As one of the most passionate defenders of SHS and not as passionate, but I still love The Alchemy: I think people have to remember the relationship Taylor was writing about in those songs was at a different place than it is now or even April when she released the album. And those songs fit perfectly on the album because of the themes on it. The Alchemy is just as much as her starting to feel like herself again (what if they told you I'm back/hospital was a drag/worst sleep that I ever had) as it is about her feeling ready to take a chance on love again and risk her heart being hurt again.

SHS is about recapturing the feeling of youth after feeling wasted in her last relationship (for relationship purposes, we are not counting MH because that was a bad rebound she thankfully got out of although it did leave an impact on her). And there are clear notes that she finds the muse very interesting (I drink what you think/smoking your jokes). The GTA line seems to be a hyper-specific thing that actually happened based on Travis's reaction to the line.

Anyways, Jack and Aaron have been able to work with Taylor on more personal (either fictional or not) writing and while Martin and Shellback did great work with Taylor on 1989, I think a lot of fans refuse to see that Taylor drives the car on production and working with producers that she feels safe with allows her to be as raw as she wants and to also experiment in different ways.

and because the posting instinct has taken me today I'm thinking about the tech support rep I had to call today bc some equipment at work broke who a) went "wow um hm. that's interesting" when I told him I got an error code that didn't exist in the manual and b) found out what equipment it was and went "yeah we don't.....provide active support for that anymore" because it's so old like yeah of course this would happen. this place exists in the scientific dark ages. yesterday maintance guys came in to train the new hires and went "so as you can see all the tiles in the entry way are broken or missing"

Turns out, this doctor's waiting room does have one of Europe's rare AC units!

It just also has the very European problem of people leaving the door open "for some fresh air", and then complaining that the AC doesn't work. That hallway opens into another open door, leading into the open plan main hall of the building.

So this unit, meant to serve 40-50 m³, is currently trying to cool off the waiting room, 50% of this practice, 5 floors of the entryway, a pharmacy, a small bakery with working ovens and an entire physiotherapist's office.

But yeah, AC only works in cars in Europe, no idea why that might be.

update about commissions.

hi everyone! i just wanted to put out a little notice regarding my commissions. i will be keeping them open since i could still really use the help until i can find a potential employer, but i may have to extend the general completion period as i am trying to enter into a writing competition! the deadline is late october but i'm expected to pump out at least 50,000 words by then and trying to micro-manage everything has been stressing me out big time, so i may have to be more flexible henceforward.

it was originally slotted at a month and i feel like if it's in the lower range i can definitely still churn something out by then but i do sincerely apologize if there are any delays. i'm also intending to see a doctor soon about my carpal tunnel since it is admittedly worsening by the day and there are some periods when i can barely use my keyboard. 💀

but i still greatly appreciate any measure of support and i will do my absolute best to repay that generosity!

contrary to my owl hyperfixation (i blame my OC for that), i think my favourite has to be ducks/waterfowl in general? i love the ruddy duck, cotton pygmy goose and cape barren goose specifically :)

owl hyperfixation pretty high up there though, so i'll say i'm also fascinated by great horned owls because of the sheer amount of studies/papers on them. they also have very funny squawks/hoots. (shout out to international owl center for feeding my curiosity).

sadly i Do Not live in america so i can't see those guys often :[
