Castle Kennedy
Castle Kennedy is a ruined 17th-century tower house, about 3 miles (4.8 km) east of Stranraer, Dumfries and Galloway
The property belonged to the Kennedys from 1482; the castle was started in 1607, on the site of an earlier stronghold, by John Kennedy, 5th Earl of Cassilis. After a brief period in the hands of the Hamiltons of Bargany the property passed to the Dalrymples of Stair around 1677.
The castle was gutted by fire in 1716, and it was never restored.

Failed bird's nest made from moss, lichen and sheep's wool.
I found the eggs on the ground under a tree; and looking up, saw the nest hanging upside down from a branch. :'(

I recently visited Galloway Forest Park in Dumfries and Galloway in the south of Scotland. The Forest Park covers 774 square kilometres (we didn't see it all 😂) and is the biggest forest in the UK. It has many beautiful walks, hiking routes, hill walking, cycling, mountain biking, rock climbing and ice climbing. We stuck to some of the more gentle walking routes and explored the beautiful scenery and nature parks within the forest, including wild goats and red deer!

Hi P!
I am confused. Sam grew up near to Kenmure Castle which is in town area of New Galloway. He is supposed to be born there. But some info write Balmeclellan. So hich is it?
Anon, he was born in Balmaclellan, later moved and lived on the grounds of Kenmure Castle as a child. You can find it all on Wikipedia. 👇
Hope that helps.
