Silent Rage (1982)
"John killed him, right? Didn't he?"
"I don't care if he murdered a hundred people. We're scientists, not moralists. You know that we're all expendable. John Kirby is the future. Because of him it's possible that millions of lives can be saved."
"Only if we could have perfected the process, but there's no time. I mean, nobody's going to give us the Nobel Prize for murder."
#silent rage#1982#american cinema#michael miller#joseph fraley#edward di lorenzo#chuck norris#ron silver#steven keats#toni kalem#william finley#brian libby#stephen furst#stephanie dunnam#joyce ingle#jay de plano#lillette zoe raley#peter bernstein#mark goldenberg#brainless Norris actioner; I've wanted to see this for a while‚ but only because of the presence of beloved Bill Finley (under used but an#absolute delight as always). this was Chuck's only foray into the vaguely sci fi or horror themed movie world‚ this being a kind of#Frankenstein take off (only with more roundhouse kicks). it was also his only time doing romantic scenes‚ something he was apparently#very uncomfortable with‚ and which he swore off ever doing onscreen again. he's not the strongest actor‚ altho his martial arts are#admittedly impressive; this is at its best when following Libby's man mountain homicidal killer (the opening ten minutes in particular#all restless handheld camera and sweaty mental break‚ are quite excellent). Libby was a stuntman but you'd never know he wasn't a trained#actor‚ he puts a hell of a lot into his performance. Furst's comic relief deputy‚ on the other hand‚ quickly grows tiresome#dumb as rocks and at times plain idiotic (Norris is satisfied he's killed the big bad by throwing him down a small well‚ despite the guy#having just survived much greater falls and a close range explosion without a scratch). fun synth score too but this is far from an#essential watch; for fans of brainless machismo and or Bill Finley being a weird nerd only (I'm the latter more than the former)

DEMO COMNG IN AN UNDISCLOSED TIME :D
The file slides across the table, the contents of which are for an upcoming mission you and your partner are being sent on. The look on your superior lets on how dangerous this will be. You've only ever been on small missions, not known enough in Nova H.Q. for you to be trusted fully. You understand, they can't afford a snitch getting in.
Opening the file shows 2 photos. The first is of the infamous 'Black Hole Casino', its golden walls and bright lights give it away. The casino is built on a spaceship that follows a very specific route, it moves in an infinity symbol going around Earth and Mars, for what reason is unknown. Both planets lack the population you would assume the casino would need to thrive.
You share a look with your partner as they hand you the other photo, It shows the captain of the ship and owner of the casino, Arthur Rogers shaking hands with a man whose face is hidden from the security camera this photo was taken from. Your eyes scanned the photo, looking for the importance it holds. A small gasp left your lips at the sight of the symbol on the mysterious man's hand.
Your eyes dart back up to your superior who offers a nod in confirmation. This mission may be bigger than you can chew, but you've worked hard in this organization for an opportunity like this, you will complete it even if it costs you your life. You just hope it doesn't come to that.
-+18 (strong language, alludes to sexual behavior, smoking and alcohol use, guns, think of the godfather but aim so much lower) -Play as male, female, or nonbinary, LGBT options available
-Play as a Spy and go undercover to help take down a casino or go against your organization to help the casino. Romance your foes or allies while finding the deep secrets this ship holds. -Find out more about the world around you and how each planet not only gained its own civilization but became independent from Earth. -More will be added to this section the more the game gets fleshed out, things may change or disappear
-Captain Arthur Rogers: The man you were hired to kill, he tends to try and flirt his way out of messy situations but is not afraid to simply 'get rid of' anything that gets in the way. (Earth-Born) He's tall with dirty blond hair with dark red eyes, he tends to wear sunglasses to hide the color.
-Donnah/Daniel Fortingale: You may be fooling the casino but you couldn't fool one person. D is prone to blackmail, they like to be condescending and they enjoy trying to get on the Spy's nerves. (Jupiter-Born) They have short pink hair with eyes to match, their appearance is just shy of human.
-Mary/Martin Dunnam: Your Superior, they rule the H.Q. with an iron fist, they expect nothing but perfection from any mission you or your equals are sent on, this one no different. They are a harsh critic but is known to crack a smile when activity is low. (Saturn-Born) They have long red hair with tired green eyes, their age is unknown but you feel the H.Q. might have added a few more.
-Jenny/Jeremy Gardener: Is just here to gamble and play the machines, they're very nosy and gets the sense something sinister is going on in the casino but it's none of their business...unless you wanna talk about it? They are extremely rich and will rub it in, they want to get with Spy and is willingly to pay for any expenses they might have. (Earth-Born) straight blond(e) hair (almost white) with honey eyes.
-Janet Monroe: A dealer at the casino, she runs multiple of the tables and runs the majority of the machines. She's easy going but isn't afraid to call out a cheater, she retells the story of her throwing out a motorcycle gang after one too many chips disappeared. She's witty and seems to have a soft spot for the Spy, she is the embodiment of luck. (Earth-Born) she has medium brown hair with dark brown eyes.

eden lived in her grandmothers old home. very little about the outside of it had changed and these days there just seemed to be more plants hanging up, a freshness to the home along with the new lick of paint. the first thing eden o'connor did was beam brightly down at the princess. "oh my goodness, hello your royal highness! an honour it is to be in your presence and might i say, your dress is beautiful." she was great with kids, a bubbly personality, bright toothy smile and that string of imagination to make something like a costume feel more real. "here you are your royal highness, please take some candy." eden took the bowl by her door and crouched down to her height. she was as friendly as she'd always been, as lovely as ever and had the same spring meadow eyes. "noah?" she asked as she straightened back up, her eyes looking over the superhero costume. "noah dunnam?" she laughed a little bit. "well i never pictured you'd show up at my door dressed as a super hero that's for sure, how are you? i mean i— i actually moved back you umm.." she was fumbling, suddenly nervous and.. incredibly embarrassed over her bunny rabbit slippers, with floppy ears. "you know my grans bakery? yeah i took it over so, i run that now...we do a great coffee if you're looking for a coffee place!"
being back in his hometown wasn’t all the bad idea that he thought it up in his own idea - in a way, it had been nice. owning a bar and having a cabin out in the woods was everything he wanted. looking at the little girl still asleep in her camping bed, somehow everything was right in the world. he’d taken the day off from work, knowing there was no way he was going to pass up trick and treating with the kid. he was backwards - just not to his own kid. having no cellphone was plenty of backwards, for today. hauling himself into the cliché costume of a superhero he had no idea was. yet, anything for his daughter. finally deciding to wake her up after thirty minutes, the twilight hours of the evening finally settling in. ‘’hey princess, we should probably go soon.’’ a small smile curving upon his lips as he put the princess costume over her head. ‘’your mom would love this, you better tell all about it tomorrow.’’ driving into town, in some beaten old pick-up, greeting people he hadn’t spoken to in years. not much had changed after leaving high school, another reason why he didn’t think he’d ever made it back to town. ‘’go on then, ring the doorbell.’’ nodding towards the next door, walking behind the eight-year-old patiently. a familiar house - a even more familiar face opening up. ‘’well, i’ll be damned. some things never change, now do they? i always thought we both were getting the hell outta here.’’ / @elpida - based on this.

miles apart, yet closer still
this is a gift fic for @seek--rest for the Marvel-our gift exchange of 2021! it's much shorter than i thought it'd be so i'm posting it here instead of on ao3.
The night sky looms in front of him, the wind howling around him. Odd as it may sound, swinging has always been one of his favourite pastimes. The dull ache in his arms from the repetitive motion, the strain of holding up his weight. The distant noises of the city far, far below him. The never-ending sky, whatever the time of day, whatever colours on display. It’s calming, especially after a battle and a much-too-big workload. (He’s looking at you, Professor Dunnam.)
That’s been happening more and more often lately; too much schoolwork, too many projects, too many articles to complete and pictures to take and gatherings to attend. Ned didn’t really get it, when Peter voiced how he missed being Spiderman more often. How he grimaced when news anchors mentioned the friendly neighbourhood hero showing up to less and less crime scenes. Stopping less and less smaller-scale villains and criminals. The thing is, he loves being Spiderman; and being some college kid is stressful, boring, and quite frankly…he’d rather be swinging through the streets all day everyday than be some hot-shot journalist.
He can’t exactly leave classes in the middle of the day; most of his professors came to their wits ends with his spontaneous disruptions back in freshman year. And JJ’s lectures and fits are usually worth the hour off saving the city, but he can’t afford to get fired. And…well, he can give a million more excuses of what’s keeping him in civies and out of the red, white, and blue spider.
Peter lands on the roof of a large building, instantly moving into a crouch. His eyes wander the block, looking for a specific building…there. Out of the handful of buildings dotting the Empire State University campus, Peter has a specific one in mind, which he identifies by the sign out front.
It was a particularly boring night, Peter confined to his dorm room with Ned to study. Alas, because heroes don’t get to have nice things, the peaceful night was quickly replaced with a bank robbery. The sirens echoed along the buildings as the police passed the university, pursuing the criminals. Ned called after him, a simple stay safe, as he donned his suit and jumped through their window.
With the culprits all webbed up, the stolen jewels and bills returned to the safe, Peter thought it a shame to not take advantage of the night off. Which brings him here.
The girls dormitory of St John’s University on Long Island.
While Ned and himself ended up at Empire State, MJ ended up down here. On top of the stress of school, JJ’s asshole tendencies, and Spiderman…not having Michelle around just heightened all those negative emotions. It’s odd, really, how the proximity of someone can make the tension seep out of you. Peter doesn’t know which room is hers, and doesn’t want to going looking through windows on unsuspecting college students, so he lowers himself to the ground outside the building and makes his way inside.
(He could text MJ. But that would ruin the surprise.)
He’s mustering up the courage to knock on a room, asking whoever answers if she knows where MJ is, when someone runs right into him. Books clatter to the floor, an alarmed noise pierces his ears. Scolding himself for becoming so distracted he ignored his…Peter Tingle…by accident. He crouches down, picking up the books and handing them to the girl.
She gapes, fumbling with her books as she accepts them. “You’re—you’re Spiderman.”
He hesitates. Well. That’s what happens when you’re anxious, apparently; you ignore your Spidey-Senses and forget to take off the world-wide known superhero suit. He decides to ignore it. Who would believe a stressed college student around midterms saying she saw Spiderman?
“Uh, yeah, hey—” He points in a general direction. “Do you know where Michelle Jones’ room is?”
“Oh!” The girl straightens, hugging her books tightly to her chest. “Second floor, fifth room on the right.”
“Thank you so much,” he backs up the stairwell, making a prayer gesture. Then, just in case, he adds; “And, uh, maybe don’t tell anyone I was here?”
She nods numbly, still gaping. Satisfied, Peter makes his way up the stairs, making his way down the hall, counting the doors on his right. One, two, three, four…five.
He pauses outside the door, listening for any movement on the other side. There’s none. He knocks softly, a mere brush of knuckles on wood. For a moment, he’s worried it wasn’t loud enough. But the door opens only a few seconds later, revealing Michelle in all her dishevelled, stressed college student glory.
Peter takes a selfish moment to just look at her, actually look at her, for the first time in months. Her hair is trapped in a messy bun, grey sweatpants and a sweater hanging off her frame. If the dim glow from the desk lamp and the books beneath it gives any hints, it’s that she’s deep in studying.
Right. Finals. He should be studying, too.
He goes to say something, words on the tip of his tongue, when MJ pulls him into the dorm room and closes the door quietly behind him.
“Peter,” she whispers, yet still scolding, “What are you doing here? What are you doing here dressed like—” She cuts herself off, gesturing to Peter’s spidersuit.
“I miss you,” Peter whispers, “And, also, I just came from a bank robbery, so. There’s that, too.”
Michelle smiles. Shakes her head. “I missed you, too, Spiderman.”
