95) “Shh, it’s just me, don’t panic.” “Don’t sneak up on me like that.”
Trigger warnings: graphic depiction of murder, extreme distress, uhh idk i’m bad at these so if you need something tagged please lmk
It was happening again. Chase knew this scenario all too well; he would never get used to it. He could feel the pressure of the couch on his entire right side, his head tilted to the left as it was propped against the arm of the couch atop a small, soft pillow. The fabric of the couch, not so obvious. He knew what it was supposed to feel like, but he wasn't sure if he could feel it. Not that that's what he should have been worrying about.
He watched, unable to move from this eerily comfortable position, as his children ran around the living room in front of him. His little girl had a large Lego Duplo block in her hand, stolen out of the hands of her younger brother. She was at a clear advantage, and the boy grew frustrated at his inability to keep up with her, much less steal the toy back. Chase wanted nothing more than to encourage his daughter to share, lecture her about grabbing things out of people's hands, make her give the toy back. He could think of several ways to handle the situation and teach his kids about politeness and playing together, but he could never reach them. He could never move. He's tried speaking, only to be ignored. It's like he didn't exist to them, arguably the worst part of this whole ordeal. Or so he once thought.
He felt his throat tighten and his stomach turn in anticipation for what was to come. He knew he shouldn't be so affected by this anymore, considering it wasn't even real, but he couldn't help the way he felt. It was no less devastating than the last time.
His eyes shifted as he noticed himself - no, a sick version of himself, pure evil taking his form - walk out of his own room into the main living space. He scanned the room: toys were scattered, an angry 3 year old boy was crying on the floor, and a smug 5 year old girl standing in front of her brother was clutching the reward of her snatch close to her chest. The imposter approached his beloved daughter, his face bearing a smile slightly too wide.
"Hey sweetie, whatcha got there? Did I hear fighting out here?" His smile never faltered.
The pit in Chase's stomach only deepened. The tightness in his throat indicated that he should've begun crying at any moment.
His daughter smiled sheepishly at the familiar man. She knew she had been caught, but her father could never resist that adorable toothy grin. "Nooo..."
"Come on, tell me what happened here. You won't get in trouble, I promise." His smile never faltered.
Still grinning, shying away, she reluctantly began: "Well... I wanted the top piece to put on my tower, but Sammy had it. He wasn't even building anything, he was just holding it, so I took it from him. I needed it more!" Her voice grew more defensive as she explained, a trait that only Chase knew she inherited from her mother. At least, that's what he believed.
Chase's doppelganger just chuckled. He knelt and stretched his arms out towards the girl in front of him, inviting her into his embrace. Her smile returned as she hopped up, wrapping her arms around his neck, resting her head on his shoulder. Once the man was sure her grasp was steady, he moved his left arm to support her from below. The other dropped down to his side. He called her attention. She allowed her left arm to drop from his neck to her side, still holding on with her right. She looked in his eyes.
"You know that was stealing, right? Stealing is for bad girls. You don't want to be a bad girl." His smile never faltered. He slowly lifted his right arm to reveal to the paralyzed man what he was holding: a knife.
“I’m sorry daddy!” Her expression and tone matched that of his; the only difference being that his smile was deceptive.
“You know what happens to bad girls, don’t you?”
Confusion crept onto her face as she shook her head no.
Chase felt a wave of fear overcome his entire body, his fight or flight response now active. his eyes locked on in horror as the entity held his daughter, so lovingly, so fatherly. Seconds felt like minutes as the scene unfolded before him. The knife continued to rise in his evil hand before it plunged into the girl's back.
Chase screamed, or at least tried. His mouth opened, his lungs pushed the air out, his face scrunched as tears finally began to form, but no sound came out. He tried to close his eyes so he wouldn't have to see his daughter's face lose its bubbliness, the light in her eyes fading as her bright, shy smile quickly turned into a look of shock, but he couldn't. He felt like his eyes were being held open against his will. Her murderer's smile only grew unnaturally, as if he stole it from the girl in his arm. He turned to look towards the man on the couch.
"No, no no no please, please don't...." Chase cried internally, still unable to produce sound as the cruel figure moved slowly towards him, maintaining eye contact. His smile never faltered. He turned his right arm so the knife pointed upwards, the girl still on it. Chase could see the tip protruding from her torso and her pink dress was now soaked in red.
The man before him crouched to meet his gaze. Chase was a mess of a man, tears flooding down his cheeks, across his nose and down onto the pillow which his head rested. He stared in horror as his daughter was placed on the couch directly in front of his eyes, the knife removed from her back to allow her blood to seep into the dark fabric. He tried to move his arm to stroke her face, frozen in the expression of fear, shock, betrayal, but he still was paralyzed.
He felt a light touch on his shoulder. He could very faintly hear a voice in his left ear. "Chase," it said. His devastation turned to fear; this had never happened before. He couldn't tell whose voice it was, but given the current circumstances, he anticipated the worst. The voice became clearer and louder as the pressure on his shoulder increased. "Chase!"
He was suddenly no longer paralyzed. This time, his screams echoed around the room. His entire body tensed up as he thrashed his arms and legs in a desperate attempt to rid his shoulder of the foreign touch he believed to be harmful.
"Get away from me!" His voice broke from the sheer volume, real tears forming in his eyes and altering his vocal cords. "Leave her alone!"
"Shh, shhh, Chase, hey, it's just me. Don't panic."
Chase managed to hear the gentle voice under his own hysteria. He relaxed his limbs and opened his eyes to determine the source of the voice. Through a layer of tears, he could make out the worried face of his friend, Jackie.
"Hey, it's just me, don't panic. You're okay," he repeated.
"Oh, fuck’s sake Jackie, don't sneak up on me like that!" Chases fearful expression quickly turned to frustration.
"I'm sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you, but you were tossing and turning. I figured you needed to get out of whatever dream world you were in," Jackie explained as he knelt to meet his friend’s eyes. He had always been a natural protector.
Chase sighed. "You'd be right."
"Was it that nightmare again?"
Chase paused, then only nodded, averting his eyes from his savior's.
Jackie lowered his voice. "Do you need a hug?"
Chase nodded again as he pushed his body upright. Jackie wrapped his arms around Chase’s shoulders as Chase embraced Jackie's torso, pulling him closer and resting his face on his shoulder. He became overwhelmed with emotion once more and sobbed into Jackie's sweatshirt. He felt one hand on his back stroke up and down, slowly, gently. He was so comforting.
oh my godddd thank you so much for asking!!! i had so much fun writing this and coming up with the scenario lsfjlkfjlskjf

February Movie Releases
So how are those New Years Resolutions coming along? Kidding!
How's the cold treating you? Because it sure as hell SUCKED here in the Chicago-land area!
Anyway, we’re here for movies! February is looking like a legit month with some huge films coming out. It’s also the month that is bringing the end to a beloved franchise. So, let’s get to it!
1st
Limited Release: Arctic
A man (Mads Mikkelsen) stranded in the Arctic after an airplane crash must decide whether to remain in the relative safety of his makeshift camp or embark on a deadly trek through the unknown in hopes of making it out alive. The film is the feature film debut of Joe Penna aka Mystery Guitar Man from Youtube fame.
Miss Bala
Gloria (Gina Rodriguez) finds a power she never knew she had when she is drawn into a dangerous world of cross-border crime. Surviving will require all of her cunning, inventiveness and strength. The movie is, unbeknownst to me for some time, a remake of a Spanish film of the same name and directed by Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight, Red Riding Hood). Honestly, I don’t have a lot of interest in watching this. The trailer does nothing for me, and why I hear Gina Rodriguez is great on her show Jane the Virgin, that may not mean she’s good to lead a movie. Hey, I could be wrong, and part of me hope I am, but another thing the movie has against it is its coming out on Super Bowl weekend, and movies coming out this weekend don’t tend to do too well. Miss Bala co-stars Ismael Cruz Cordova, Matt Lauria, Thomas Dekker and Anthony Mackie.
8th
Limited Release: Everybody Knows
Laura (Penelope Cruz), a Spanish woman living in Buenos Aires, returns to her hometown outside Madrid with her two children to attend her sister’s wedding. However, the trip is upset by unexpected events that bring secrets into the open. Everybody Knows co-stars Javier Bardem.
What Men Want
A gender-swap of the 2000 Mel Gibson-led movie What Women Want, this movie has Ali (Taraji P. Henson) is boxed out by the male sports agents in her profession. However, she gains an unexpected edge over them when she develops the ability to hear their thoughts. The gender-swapping trend continues this year, and why I’m sure this movie will find its audience, What Men Wants may be one of those movies that gets lost in the shuffle for me. What Men Want co-stars Josh Brener, Max Greenfield, Aldis Hodge, Kellan Lutz, Wendi McLendon-Covey and Tracy Morgan.
Tumblr media
The Prodigy
A mother (Taylor Schilling) concerned about her young son’s disturbing behavior thinks something supernatural may be affecting him. This one pretty much came out of nowhere, mainly because of its test screening stories. According to multiple reports, and confirmed by its director Nicholas McCarthy (The Pact), The Prodigy had to be re-edited because the movie was TOO SCARY. Apparently, test audiences missed parts of the movie because they were recovering from the scares. Reading that, and then watching the trailer, I can believe that, because I never heard of the movie until I saw the trailer – in theaters – and that last bit scared the crap out of the whole audience, including me. Needless to say, this is one to put on the Must-Watch List.
Tumblr media
Cold Pursuit
Based on the 2014 Norwegian film In Order of Disappearance, a snowplow driver (Liam Neeson) seeks revenge against the drug dealers he thinks killed his son. Leaving the cheesy feeling of “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper” playing in the trailer, Cold Pursuit looks like it’s playing with the notion of Neeson playing the badass hero. I actually loved his delivery of the reading a lot of crime novels, so of course he’s ready to kill people. There’s also the feeling that this is a payoff of the joke in Daddy’s Home 2, but hey, seeing Neeson on the big screen beating the crap out of people? I’m in. Cold Pursuit co-stars Emmy Rossum, Tom Bateman, Laura Dern and William Forsythe.
The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part
It’s been five years since everything was awesome and the citizens are facing a huge new threat: LEGO DUPLO invaders from outer space, wrecking everything faster than they can rebuild. I loved the first LEGO movie, and still do. That said, the trailers for The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part are just okay, but I want to say part of that is to hide the story of the movie, and maybe even some of the jokes. I’m still going to be sitting in a packed theater opening weekend, so yeah. The voice cast from the first returns, but new additions include Stephanie Beatriz and Tiffany Haddish.
Tumblr media
13th
Isn’t It Romantic
Natalie (Rebel Wilson) disenchanted with love mysteriously finds herself trapped inside a romantic comedy. I kind of like the concept of this, but the trailer just doesn’t make me actually buy it.  Isn’t It Romantic co-stars Adam Devine, Liam Hemsworth, Priyanka Chopra and Jennifer Saunders.
Tumblr media
Happy Death Day 2U
Tree (Jessica Rothe) discovers that dying over and over was surprisingly easier than the dangers that lie ahead. Listen, I was onboard the hate wagon for Happy Death Day, but then I watched it and damn I ended up actually liking it. It knew was it was and didn’t take itself too seriously. That said, when I heard about the sequel, I wasn’t too surprised, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t looking forward to this just a bit. Happy Death Day 2U co-stars Israel Broussard, Ruby Modine, Suraj Sharma, Rachel Matthews, Sarah Yarkin and Phi Vu.
Tumblr media
14th
Fighting with My Family
Written and directed by Stephen Merchant, and inspired by the life of WWE superstar Paige, a former wrestler and his family make a living performing at small venues around the country while his kids dream of joining World Wrestling Entertainment. I’m actually a huge wrestling fan – and not just WWE – and knowing some of Paige’s actual story, part of me isn’t surprised it got turned into a movie. The movie itself does look pretty great, although just by seeing the trailer, it looks like they are taking some liberties already. Fighting With My Family co-stars Florence Pugh, Lena Headey, Nick Frost, Jack Lowden, Vince Vaughn and Dwayne Johnson.
Tumblr media
Alita: Battle Angel
Co-written by James Cameron, directed by Robert Rodriguez and based on the anime of the same name; the movie is set in the future where Alita (Rosa Salazar) tries to discover the truth of what she really is, and fight to change the world. This one could easily been written off, but the recent word of mouth for the movie is pretty, and slightly surprisingly, positive. It was also suppose to come out last year, but the push back could have helped the movie. I’m also really looking forward to it. Alita: Battle Angel co-stars Christoph Waltz, Keean Johnson, Ed Skrein, Eiza Gonzalez, Lana Condor, Casper Van Dien, Mahershala Ali, Jackie Earle Haley and Jennifer Connelly.
Tumblr media
22nd
How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World
When Hiccup (voiced by Jay Baruchel) discovers Toothless isn’t the only Night Fury, he must seek “The Hidden World”, a secret Dragon Utopia before a hired tyrant named Grimmel (voiced by F. Murray Abraham) finds it first. I hate myself for saying it, but I yet to watch a How to Train Your Dragon movie, despite my best efforts to watch them. So I’m a bit bummed to think I’m going to miss seeing at least one of these movies in theaters.

What do we know about The LEGO Movie 2 so far?
- Unikitty's new giant warrior form is called "Ultrakatty".
- At some point, Emmet builds a triple-decker couch—and evidently, a "thricycle". (It's a triple-decker unicycle. That is so impractical and amazing.)
- Good Cop (and we can only assume Bad Cop) seems to be making a reappearance! This is weirdly important to 75%+ of the fandom. Because honestly, a huge portion of our fan content is Good Cop/Bad Cop based and if we don't get some more character development for those two we are probably gonna yell. ("Scribble Cop" is included in this LEGO set, and makes a few background appearances in the Dance Together video.)
- PLEASE LET US SEE OUR FAVORITE REFORMED VILLAINS, TLM2 CREW
- I'M REALLY HOPING FOR AT LEAST ONE GOOD COP/BAD COP SCENE. The set linked above includes "Scribble Cop's Office" with "chair-kicking function". If it's Good Cop's office, yet there's chair-kicking going on... we might get that scene yet guys
- Business’s role is credited as being reprised by Will Ferrell on the Wikipedia page.
- I'm lowkey picturing him being torn between nervously trying to help without micromanaging everything and just going NOPE SORRY I DIDN'T DO IT at everything that's happened
- Puppycorn, Unikitty's little brother from the Cartoon Network show Unikitty!, is shown for a moment in the extended trailer.
- New characters include General Sweet Mayhem, Queen Watevra Wa'nabi, Banana, Ice Cream Cone, Roxxi (who I assume is a female mechanic of sorts, from this set), Fuse (who I'm hoping is a robot head who hangs out with Roxxi, but more likely is the guy mechanic), and Mohawk (who, I assume, is the guy with the mohawk).
- Returning characters with new "apocalypse warrior" personas are: Unikitty/Ultrakatty, Surfer Dave/Chainsaw Dave (yikes), Larry the Barista, Mrs. Scratchen-Post and her warrior cats, and to a lesser extent Warrior Lucy.
- also Batman, who has Edginess for Every Occasion™
- Metalbeard appears to be undergoing a few changes to his robotic body. In the holiday short, he's shown as only having his head and chest (get it? get it?), while in the later part of the Dance Together video, he seems to have spider-like robotic legs.
- Benny's spaceman friends are actually named Lenny, Kenny, and Jenny! (Good job, fandom, you totally called it.) Kenny is the yellow spaceman, Lenny is apparently pink, and Jenny is in white.
- We are left to wonder who the red spaceman is. Maybe Denny?
- BATMAN APPARENTLY GETS ROPED INTO MARRYING QUEEN WATEVRA
- I'M NOT EVEN KIDDING
- According to a recent news article on SlashFilm.com: "Everyone knows that Batman (Will Arnett) flies solo — except when he's fighting in the Justice League, or when he's adopting a legion of orphans that become his close-knit found family, or when he's partying with Alfred. But the one thing that stays constant with Batman: he's a bachelor, or a Bat-chelor if you're feeling wild. Until now. The arrival of Queen Watevra WaNabi shakes things up for Batman, who is roped into marrying the new character and is potentially okay with it."
- I MEAN
- WOW
- DIDN'T SEE THAT ONE COMING
- okay but to be totally honest the more I think about it that could actually be really cute? If this movie is about Finn's sister taking Emmet and the gang (or perhaps just Lucy and friends, at first) to her room—then they'll likely have adventures that a girl would send them on. As a girl, I can confirm that we do tend to marry off our toys when we’re little.
- According to several more recent news articles and the Wikipedia page, Finn's sister's name is Bianca.
- The "main song" for the movie is "This Song's Gonna Get Stuck Inside Your Head"
- spoiler alert: it's catchy
- To get to the Systar System, what do Emmet and Rex Dangervest have to cross? The Stairgate.
- some of the news articles have really great quotes??
- my favorite so far has been CNET's Lego Movie 2 Review, which has sentences like:
"Seriously, the whole endeavour is a crazy moebius strip of postmodern recursive metatextuality. With songs.” and "Jeez, just because kids can work an iPad at six months old, apparently they're expected to get Baudrillardian simulation theory."
- A++ to whoever wrote that article; it's fantastic and I'm still laughing
- SlashFilms quotes the official synopsis as being:
"The much-anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed, global box office phenomenon that started it all, "The LEGO® Movie 2: The Second Part," reunites the heroes of Bricksburg in an all new action-packed adventure to save their beloved city. It's been five years since everything was awesome and the citizens are facing a huge new threat: LEGO DUPLO® invaders from outer space, wrecking everything faster than they can rebuild. The battle to defeat them and restore harmony to the LEGO universe will take Emmet, Lucy, Batman and their friends to faraway, unexplored worlds, including a strange galaxy where everything is a musical. It will test their courage, creativity and Master Building skills, and reveal just how special they really are."
- it’s in theaters on February 8 and it's going to be AWESOME
(This is by no means a complete list. If you know any more details, please reblog with additions as the movie's release date approaches! Or even after it's past! Go wild! Linked references and pictures are awesome, too.)

All the Lessons I Never Learned
10. Preparations (Part 2)
Synopsis: Thor is hit by the realities of having to move across the world to live with Loki and begins to have second thoughts when Frigga helps him sort through and pack up his playroom.
Word count: 1,775
Stand Alone?: No
Warnings: Anxiety/meltdowns
Notes: These angsty chapters are really hard to write while keeping Thor in character or without getting repetitive, but I'm pretty happy with this one.
Read it on AO3!
Tumblr media
Thor had not gotten the easy part of this deal by any means.
The day after Loki went home, it all came crashing down like a tower of blocks.
First, there was the day when his mother had sat on the floor of his playroom and told him about a game they’d be playing called “yes or no”: She would hold up a toy, and Thor would say “yes” or “no”. The “yes” items would get sifted through with another game later if there were too many, but were generally going to be kept, and the “no” items would get put into a charity bin.
Well, the truth was, most items, even the “yes” ones, got thrown in the charity bin. With very few exceptions, it was going to be easier to simply give Loki a list of “yes” items and a large check to have him simply repurchase most pieces of Thor’s bedroom and playroom. Only a few special things would be going with him, like the play kitchen, which had been especially made for him and would take far too long to re-order. The other things making the journey would be a smattering of beloved and irreplaceable toys, some favorite books, and his wardrobe, as Frigga considered shopping for him to be too much of a pain to put off on poor Loki.
Unbeknownst to Thor, she had also already decided on many of the toys before even giving Thor the option, tossing old things that were broken or that Thor had never touched, a couple still in packaging. Casualties of this included many trains, other vehicles of all sorts, and a couple dolls that had come with doll furniture or clothes Thor had wanted for his snake.
It had been since the three youngest children were all in the home that this game had been played. Thor hardly remembered that, and he had never needed to get rid of much.
But now, Thor had more decisions he needed to make: Which dozen out of the hundreds of picture books did he actually like?  Which building block set was better? Duplo or traditional wood? Did he really need all those puzzles? What about the play silks and rainbow ribbons? How about the stuffed animals which were used as padding and pillows and not as friends?
The task was horribly overwhelming for such a small little. He wished that the choice wasn’t even his, but also knew that it would be so much worst if it wasn’t. He wasn’t aware that that was already the case.
“He was such a good boy about it-- a big strong, brave boy,” Frigga wrote Loki afterwards. “Look at this!” she sent over a photo of the much less full room.
“And no tantrum?” Loki asked back.
“Well… no, there was definitely a tantrum,” she admitted.
After said tantrum, they had begun the process of disassembling the items Thor did want to keep and began putting them in boxes.
Not much of that got done today though, as Frigga lost her steam and needed a break. She was tired and old. All of the energy, mental and physical, was being drained from her through this process.
“Loki!” Thor had yelled on a facetime call, taking the phone out of his mother’s hands. “Loki! Mumma’s been really sleepy and daddy’s been busy so I’m a big boy. I built boxes all by myself an’ put away blocks an’ books ‘cuz m’ a big kid!” he bragged, not realizing that running around with the phone was very shaky and jarring, nearly making his brother need to turn away for fear that he’d be sick.
“You put your blocks away already?” Loki asked. Slightly in that impressed tone adults offer young children and also in that concerned voice that was Loki’s own stress. The voice that said “Oh my God this wasn’t just a stress nightmare. This is actually happening.”
“Yeah. An’ morrow daddy saided he’ll help wit my big toy bins an’ putem away. Mjolnir’s baby furniture, too. Um I getta use the wench!”
“Wrench,” Frigga corrected him, with a laugh, taking the phone back out of his hands and letting him flop down on the couch next to her.
Thor took the big plush snake, which was haphazardly wiggled into a baby-doll romper-- the tail in through a leg hole and the head poking out of the neck-hole-- and snuggled it close to him, letting his mother wrap her arms around his neck, pulling him just barely into the frame of the camera.
“Mumma! Mumma!” Thor had yelled the next day after coming home from school.
“Hm?”
“Mumma call Loki! Call Loki!”
“Loki’s working today,” she told him.
“But… he’s gotta see boxes! Big boxes! Upstairs!”
“Why don’t we send him pictures?”
“Okay!” the little grinned, clapping and beckoning his mother up.
After he was sure she was following him, he ran to the playroom as if it would look entirely different from when he left, but to be fair, it did.
Frigga and Odin had had a couple movers come in and take a few of the things that had to be moved. Only a couple boxes of kept things, the pieces like the doll furniture and a bunch of the smaller toys, were packed into a corner of the room, while the rest sat almost empty.
Thor paused, suddenly realizing the magnitude of how much was gone.
The carpet had indents where the playground and train table had been, and the bookshelf which had once also been alive with extra bins of toys, particularly nice arts and crafts projects from school, board games, and DVDs of movies-- even a couple of video games that were deemed okay for the preschool age group-- was now almost entirely empty with the exception of a couple of small knick-knacks.
Thor whipped around to see if his mother knew about this.
She seemed entirely indifferent to it.
“Where’s playground? Where’s my trains?” The poor dear didn’t sound angry, not at first, but genuinely confused and sad, as if he didn’t know they wouldn’t stay.
“Loki doesn’t have room for all that extra stuff so we’re just taking the essentials, darling,” Frigga said as if it meant nothing; As if she were talking with an adult.
“Give it back!” he whined.
“They’re already gone, honey. It’s alright, it’s just things.-- Look at how much progress we’ve made though! The whole room’s packed! You did such a good job!”--
There was a noise that reminded the woman of when both Loki and Thor were both small. The scream-crying Loki would make when he was only a baby. It wasn’t one of the angry, frustrated yells of a preschooler or toddler tantrum, but a shriek; a screech of grief that disolved into a melty pile of tears. Not a blowup but a meltdown.
The little slunk down to the floor, but he made no moves to violently thrash or hold his breath or break anything, but instead he just wailed and cried. At first, he was sitting, and made an attempt to wipe away his tears, snot, and spittle, all the sorts of fluids that tended to happen when a little cried.
Frigga pet his back at first, slowly crouching down next to him. She did not speak until he pushed her away.
“All gone,” was the only phrase he could squeak out before falling backwards into a laying position.
The mother tried to hide her sigh as she stood back up and took a few seconds to take photos of the room and the distressed little for Loki.
Thor hid his face once he noticed and rolled over onto his side away from her.
As phone photography subject matter began to lack, Frigga got him a pillow out of an unsealed box, and grabbed the snake plush from atop the cradle box, and dropped them by him before squatting down again and making sure he felt comforted just enough.
Thor screamed into the pillow and tried to use it like a massive tissue.
He flipped over onto his belly, planting his face into the pillow, and hugged Mjolnir underneath his chest and tummy.
This was just all too much.
When Thor was originally told of this new chapter in his life, some parts of it felt distant. Even packing up some of his toys felt far away-- and he had played the “yes or no” game before. But now, to see the room as it was: empty, and, in some ways, decaying, was something just shy of traumatizing. Paint in some spots had faded more than others, and was starting to peel in some of the corners by the crown molding. Where the play kitchen had stood against the wall, it was still a brilliant white.
There was something haunting, dire, and incredibly lonely about all of it. To know it was coming to an end. To know that this piece of life was over, and yet still being unable to grow up, to grow out of the disorganized mania and phase of discovery that was being three or four.
It took a little while, but eventually Thor wound himself back down, bawling wails turning to shaky, sniffly whines.
The lucky part was that it made getting him down for his nap a little bit easier, and taking him out of the ex-playroom was a nice change of pace. It was one of the few days that there wasn’t a fight or a new fit from it, as he was just simply too tired. If Frigga hadn’t encouraged him to be a proper boy, he may have just fallen asleep right on the floor of his playroom on the damp pillow.
His bedroom was almost entirely intact, with the exception of the fairy lights and the picture books on his shelf being packed away. Most of the rest would come tomorrow, with the final touches being added just after that so they’d be all ready by Friday afternoon, just after the barnehage got out for the day to give the little one plenty of time for goodbyes.
Frigga sat at the foot of the toddler’s bed, and briefly looked around the room, surveying what she needed to help the boy pack and how they were going to go about it. The little was snuggling himself into bed and getting comfortable under the covers as she did so.
There wasn’t much she needed to do after that, just tuck in the blankets around him and give him a loving kiss on the forehead before maybe reading a picture book and turning off the lights.

Blast off into outer space with this homemade play dough recipe inspired by The LEGO® Movie 2: The Second Part, in theaters February 8. We can’t wait to join Emmet, Lucy, Batman, and our other LEGO friends on their galactic adventure!
My family is so excited for The LEGO Movie 2 that we couldn’t wait to play with our LEGO Movie 2 mini figures and pretend to blast off into outer space with Emmet, Lucy, and Batman!
The much-anticipated sequel reunites the heroes of Bricksburg in an all new action-packed adventure to save their beloved city.
It’s been five years since everything was awesome and the citizens are now facing a huge new threat: LEGO DUPLO® invaders from outer space, wrecking everything faster than it can be rebuilt. The battle to defeat the invaders and restore harmony to the LEGO universe will take Emmet (Chris Pratt), Lucy (Elizabeth Banks), Batman (Will Arnett) and their friends to faraway, unexplored worlds, including a strange galaxy where everything is a musical. It will test their courage, creativity and Master Building skills, and reveal just how special they really are.

Outer Space Play Dough
Here’s what you need to make Outer Space Play Dough:
2 cups flour
1/2 cup salt
2 Tbsp cream of tartar
2 Tbsp vegetable oil
1 1/2 cups boiling water
Black liquid watercolor
Gold glitter
Gold star confetti
In a large bowl, mix together the flour, salt, cream of tartar and vegetable oil. Pour in the boiling water and stir until a dough starts to form. Take the dough out of the bowl and start to knead it to form the play dough.
Knead the black liquid watercolor into the dough until it reaches the desired color.
Add glitter and star confetti and knead to mix it throughout.
Store in an airtight container for up to one week.
We decided to share our Outer Space Play Dough with our LEGO-loving friends, so I made some printable tags to go onto some small containers.
Click here to print the LEGO play dough gift tags.
I cut out the circles and placed on the lids of some plastic jars. My son loved giving these to friends at school. They would also make great class valentines or party favors.
Outer Space Play Dough is the perfect addition to LEGO play. It gives a fun and sparkly backdrop to the adventures of Emmet, Lucy, and Batman!
If you’re ready to join our LEGO friends on their adventures in The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part in theaters February 8, purchase your tickets here.

YOU GUYS I JUST THOUGHT OF THIS
Now he's cofounder of a startup is to create wealth; the dimension of wealth you have most control over. Maybe one day the most important thing is who you know. Actually a lot of them about halfway to Lisp. Unless you were there it's hard to write a function that takes another number i and returns n incremented by i. Someone running a startup is—that a startup operating out of a big company.1 It is a comfortable idea. Why do Segways provoke this reaction? In his autobiography, Robert MacNeil talks of seeing gruesome images that had just come in from Vietnam and thinking, we can't show these to families while they're having dinner. And finally, if a good investor has committed to fund you if you stay where you are, you should probably stay. Number 2, most managers deliberately ignore this. I'm right. But that world ended a few years ago.
Meanwhile a similar fragmentation was happening at the other end of the spectrum, where you need to write. Vertically integrated companies literally dis-integrated because it was so rare for so long: that you could make your fortune. When I see patterns in my programs, I consider it a sign of trouble. There are two main kinds of badness in comments: meanness and stupidity. I'd like. 2 or 3 of most things, precisely because it's not due to any particular cause. And since it's hard to imagine how that town felt about the Steelers. To some extent this was because the companies themselves had become sclerotic.
I suspect the best we'll be able to keep up, in the sense we mean today. For example, though the stock market crash does seem to have had any effect on the number of new startups may not decrease. But when you import this criterion into decisions about technology, you start to get the wrong answers. Paradoxically, fundraising is this type of distraction, so try to minimize that too. Someone riding a motorcycle isn't working any harder. Especially if it meant independence for my native land, hacking.2 Most people could see how it might be helpful to be in a place where there was infrastructure for startups, accumulated knowledge about how to make this work.
What I learned from Paul Buchheit: it's better to make a few users love you than a lot ambivalent. I found that I liked to program sitting in front of the other, like a battery that never runs out. But those seconds seemed long. Hacking and painting have a lot of macros, and I stopped watching it. S i. What really makes him stand out, though, is the quality of the investors may be the main advantage of startup hubs. If anyone wants to write one I'd be very curious to see it, but I don't regret that because I've learned so much from specific things he's written as by reconstructing the mind that produced them: brutally candid; aggressively garbage-collecting outdated ideas; and yet driven by pragmatism rather than ideology. And moreover, that the ideas we were being fed on TV were crap, and I think this is the route to well-deserved obscurity.
Though quite successful, it did not crush Apple. But it does seem as if Google was a collaboration. They were like Nero or Commodus—evil in the way the industrial revolution was driven by computers in the way the industrial revolution was driven by steam engines.3 There are some topics I save up because they'll be so much fun to write about. Bad comments are like kudzu: they take over rapidly.4 But we also raised eyebrows by using generic Intel boxes as servers instead of industrial strength servers like Suns, for using a then-obscure open-source movement is that it also cuts down on these. The x in Ajax is from the sciences. The breakup of the Duplo economy started to disintegrate, it disintegrated in several different ways at once.
Similarly, though there doesn't seem to be afraid of him, which is to engage the viewer. If it is, it is no surprise that the pointy-haired boss in 1992 what language software should be written for people to read, and only incidentally for machines to execute. So one way to build great software is to start your own startup.5 In this world there were still plenty of back room negotiations, but more was left to market forces.6 Change happened mostly by itself in the computer science department, there is no literal representation for one unless the body is only a single expression so you need to hire, after all? But this will change if enough startups choose SF. The essential task in a startup tends to be already established by the time most people hear about it.7 But I would like to be sure it's not a net drag on productivity. Some of these we now take for granted, but at the time.
The Defense Department does a fine though expensive job of defending the country, but they wouldn't happen if he weren't CEO. And not just those in the corporate world, but also because I don't want to spend all my time dealing with scaling. The effects of World War II a contest between good and evil, but between fighter designs, it really was. Sheer effort is usually enough, so long as no one can prove it's his fault. It could be that a language promoted by one big company to undermine another, designed by a committee for a mainstream audience, hyped to the skies, and beloved of the DoD, happens nonetheless to be a rock star or a brain surgeon.8 Because I had to ask. Try making your customer service not merely good, but surprisingly good. Compiler?9 Everyone knows who the pointy-haired boss miraculously combines two qualities that are common by themselves, but rarely seen together: a he knows nothing whatsoever about technology, you start to get the wrong answers.10
And so while you needed expressions for math to work, there was one factor above all that connected them: the hard part is not answering questions but asking them: the hard part is not answering questions but asking them: the Spitfire.11 Their culture is the opposite of hacker culture; on questions of strategy or ambition I ask What would Sama do? Values are what have types, not variables, and assigning or binding variables means copying pointers, not what they point to. Some links are both fluff, in the sense of being very short, and also on topic. One thing we can learn from painting. The graphic design is as plain as possible, and the paper becomes a proxy for the achievement represented by the software. In those days, you couldn't tell a book by.12
Notes
Yes, strictly speaking, you're putting something in this respect.
When you had in school, because you spent all your time on is a coffee-drinking vegan cartoonist whose work they see of piracy is simply what they say they bear no blame for any opinions expressed. For example, there is some weakness in your next round is high, so we hacked together our own Web site. Good news: users don't care about GPAs. As a rule, if your true calling is gaming the system?
When companies can't simply eliminate new competitors may be somewhat higher, as in Boston, and b I'm pathologically optimistic about people's ability to predict areas where you go to college, you'll have to. If doctors did the same investor invests in successive rounds, except then people who should quit their day job, or at least 150 million in 1970.
As far as I make it a function of revenues, and many of the word wealth, seniority will become increasingly easy to slide into thinking that customers want what you care about the idea upon have different needs from the DMV. Some would say that hapless meant unlucky.
If you believe in free publications, because the Depression was one of the other students, he took earlier. Hodges, Richard.
99 2, etc, and on the Internet, and post-money valuation of the world. Foster, Richard and David Whitehouse, Mohammed, Charlemagne and the editor written in C and C, which is the most famous example. Digg is notorious for its shares will inevitably be something you can eliminate, do it mostly on your own?
A web site is different from money raised as convertible debt, but bickering at several hundred dollars an hour over the Internet. I didn't realize it yet or not, under current US law, writing in 1975. Many hope he was a small set of users comes from. Maybe markets will eventually get comfortable with potential acquirers.
Which is also not a programmer would never even think of it, so buildings are traditionally seen as temporary; there is the same reason parents don't tell their parents what happened that night they were buying a phenomenon, or in one of those sentences. And they are now the founder of the recruiting funnel. VCs invest large amounts of new means of production is not an associate.
Do not use ordinary corporate lawyers for this to be a win to include things in shows is basically a replacement mall for mallrats.
Some who read this essay, Richard and David Whitehouse, Mohammed, Charlemagne and the VCs buy, because when people tell you alarming things, you have two choices and one didn't try to establish a silicon valley in Israel.
Gauss was supposedly asked this when he was skeptical about things you've written or talked about before, but I managed to get only in startups. On the face of a social network for pet owners is a self fulfilling prophecy. In practice sufficiently expert doesn't require one to be good? The undergraduate curriculum or trivium whence trivial consisted of Latin grammar, rhetoric, and suddenly they need.
Financing a startup.
Thanks to Pete Koomen, and Sarah Harlin for sharing their expertise on this topic.

THE TRIFECTA (& then some) Today, a friend’s Facebook post described true luxury as being clean body, clean sheets and clean PJs. After reading that, I decided to turn my day’s start (of my bed and by default, me, being soaked in preschooler pee) into a win. All I needed to find was time for a shower, even though it wasn’t a bath night (at least, I don’t think it was). To top it off everyone in the house, including my beloved, was asleep by 8:30. This icing on the comfy cake has added sprinkles of a Bailey’s laden hot chocolate and a sparkler of time to read a book with a bed all to myself. I wanted a photo for this post because it breaks up the home page but I chose my subject (a broken mug) & location (my dirty stove top) purposefully. I have a real thing for the balance of broadcasting true life. We tend to prefer to share the good stuff and hide the mess. I’m relishing the fact that I’ve won this trifecta and am thoroughly slumped into my clean bed despite that fact that just out of the frame of this photo, there'a a sink full of dishes (dirty and clean), ice cream covered Duplo, counters that need wiping, a floor that needs sweeping, and a piece of luggage full of Christmas presents begging to find their way in our home. Later. Tonight, all is fresh and clean.
