Autumn in summer, and summer in autumn.
These pictures were taken on a cool (18°C) July day, when the only things reminding us of summer were the sunlight, the sky colour and the flowers. That day, I felt like dressing in autumn colours. Today, it's October 4th, but the temperature has reached 29°C, which is quite abnormal in Québec. Is it a bit concerning? Definitely. I guess it's once again my cue to encourage you to thrift durable things instead of buying new, at least, when you can. And durable means you can keep your loved things for a long time! I know we all have a big footprint on our poor planet, but we might as well try our best to reduce it in ways we can for the short time we are here.

Random mechanics idea: The problem with mechanics like weapon durability, encumbrance, supplies, lighting etc. is that they add a lot of busywork only to make the game more unpleasant to play. If we want to include these type of systems in our games, we're going to need to figure out a spoon full of sugar to help the mechanical medicine go down, and I think a large part of that is giving the party toys we can take away when needed, rather than imposing unnecessary restrictions.
A computer can easily handle an infinite amount of gruntwork behind the scenes but there's a reason that every system introduced with the intent of artificially creating "challenge" or "realism" is thought up by dms who spend a lot more time theorycrafting on forums than they do telling enjoyable stories: Trying to implement these sort of systems at the table effectively forces the party to stop any fun they might be having to do boardgame taxes...which really makes sense when you learn that Gygax worked in insurance around the time he was dreaming up d&d.
I put this all together after spending a whole evening scouring the internet for a worthwhile weapon durability system. None of them were actually FUN or story enhancing, instead asking players to do varying amounts of busy work (sometimes counting dozens of interaction and adding three or extra dice rolls per weapon swing) to hold with a DM's desire for arbitrary complexity.
Returning to the idea of giving fun benefits rather than messing with fundamentals, I've seem far too many attempts at a "blood magic" system that makes casters have to spend HP to do their basic spells, when really the exact same could be accomplished by allowing the player to earn a boon that gives them their con bonus in bonus spellslots that could be used to upcast their spells.
The same goes for durability: rather than having to create an umbrella mechanic that applies to every weapon ever, slowing down EVERY swing, make it something that the fighter manages on their own, learning to keep their weapon in tip-top shape by spending a precious hitdie during a short rest to grant their weapon an additional damage die (which goes away if they roll a nat 1), and letting players and monsters break weapons as part of a combat action.
The opt in nature is essential here, because it rewards players who want more mechanical complexity without slowing down the whole game.
Now the question is if I can figure out a way to make the ever cumbersome encumbrance rules actually fun to play with.

golden girl
↷ ˊ- neteyam/metkayina reader | (i.), (ii.), (iii.), (iv.)
Tumblr media
“cause i have walked a thousand miles for the golden girl, golden smile.”
Tumblr media
neteyam had finished the spearhead in a matter of days. after having secured the carved bone to the end of a sturdy pole, he tried its durability against some fish, but not without whispering a few prayers beforehand. his arms had grown taut from the strain, and neteyam feels sorry for leaving you worried, even when he had apologized that he’d be missing another day’s lessons for reasons so futile.
but you, oh so beautiful you, had placed a gentle hand on his chest that spoke a thousand reassurances. the skin underneath your palm rejoiced at the contact, buzzing with delight. neteyam couldn’t even begin to recall what you had really said to him. but if you asked what beads were in your hair or what your eyes remind him of, he’d have an answer. he’d say it like gospel truth.
after you had left, he returned to the spear. he was still a warrior at heart.
neteyam remembers how the weight of it felt strange in one hand, and how he didn’t quite know what to do with the other. if you had been there that day to watch him, hunting fish with an aim that wouldn’t even impress a baby, you would have called him out on his tense shoulders or unsure feet. it just felt awkward, unfamiliar. his stance, his spear, the sea. but he didn’t want to call it wrong.
sure the smooth stone was too heavy for an arrow and too thin for a spear, but he would never call it wrong, a freak of nature. maybe he would have in the past, but now he knew what it really was: a little like him. carved for the forest before he changed its purpose. now the weapon was neither arrow nor spear. neither land nor sea. it lays tucked away in his family’s marui, collecting dust and dreams he dared not speak.
visiting the tidepools became a pastime, just as you predicted. it had not even been several days since neteyam last asked you to accompany him, but you didn’t mind. it made up for his recent absences. while you do adore his siblings and treat them like your own, you admit that there’s a charm in the eldest that simply could not be replicated. so when he had asked you one morning, your heart jumped eagerly.
you felt guilty the more you realized the reality of the situation. you joined the group for tuk out of the goodness in your heart, and now you yearned for her older brother. it made your stomach churn, yet a quiet, selfish part of you wondered what it would be like to stand by neteyam’s side, to call his family your own, and to have his child. you wanted a hand to slap you across the face, hard, for such thoughts.
the sun peeked through the overgrown palms as you and neteyam followed the familiar path to the pools. it didn’t take much convincing from your parents, much less his own, as if they could see something far beyond the line of friendship. growing and taking shape. the thought left you stubborn, willing to deny and fight for your pride, but you knew that it’d be for naught. neteyam captivated you beyond recognition.
you grew shy of his advances too, if you could even call them that. his silly attempts at conversation, the looks he gave you from afar, even now, with his hand entwined in yours, as he led you to the spot. they fell under an umbrella without a label, or on a blurred line between friends and something more. you bit the inside of your cheek until it drew blood, nervously savoring its copper.
“there will be more fish today.” neteyam said almost to himself, his eyes trained forward. “the waves were high last night with fish of all sorts of colors. you will like them.” you’re not sure if that’s how it works, but you didn’t comment on it.
“then we’ll bring fish for your family.” you squeezed his hand, committing his rough calluses to memory. warm. so warm. “you’re siblings are doing much better now. i wish you had been there to see it.” you remember how lo’ak had finally beat his record of twelve minutes with a commendable sixteen. truly a magnificent feat considering it had only been a few months worth of progress.
tsireya had been the first to congratulate him, all sunshine and smiles. kiri and tuk joined right after. you were fourth, and ao’nung the reluctant fifth. the metkayina trio had decided to end the lessons on a high note by dedicating the rest of the day to “unsupervised” ilu riding. truly, lo’ak had grown spoiled. but there was the unmistakable glint of disappointment in his eyes at how neteyam had not been there to see it.
his steps slowed as if to absorb your words properly, before turning to you with a strange expression. “is that how you feel? if you had asked me to stay, i would have.” neteyam said so easily, his voice light and borderline teasing. how cheeky! you looked away first, unable to maintain eye contact for too long.
the sea smelled stronger here at the edge of the mangroves, numbing your senses. you could only imagine how neteyam felt. the pools were closer too, and oddly enough, he had been right. the pools were higher, deeper, fuller. they reminded you of what you suggested prior. fish for his family.
“did you bring your spear with you?” you asked.
neteyam shook his head, shrugging. “left it at home.” home. you didn’t catch his slip.
he let go of your hand so you can jump off the rocks. then, he followed suit. neteyam memorized it by now, the patterns in the rock. where to step, to pause, to turn. how one had more algae than the other. he doubts he’ll ever get over the feeling of wet algae though. it nearly left him nauseous, but he won’t tell you that. “then how do you suppose we catch fish?i thought you were a hunter.” you huffed.
“a warrior,” he corrected.
“is there a difference?”
surprised with your sudden curiosity, neteyam thought for a moment. truthfully, there wasn’t much of a difference when both hunters and warriors fought to survive. most times he felt like one or the other, other times neither. “somewhat,” he decided, choosing his next words carefully. “one hunts, the other kills. unless you plan to eat your enemies, then you could be both.” your face scrunched in disgust and you punched his shoulder.
chuckling, neteyam reached down to splash water in your direction. “i’m glad you can call yourself a hunter,” he continued. “i don’t want war to touch this place.” fish darted to and fro, and plants waved their tendrils at you. when his eyes grew distant, focusing on violent memories, you watched him quietly. never had the differences between you two been so clear, like the waters of your home.
you were a hunter, he was a fighter. you hunted with intent to feed, he fought with weapons to kill. the cycle of life and death, just as the great mother had embedded in your psyche. like natural law. it was just as strange how two na’vi of two clans could stand so close together, so strongly juxtaposed. sometimes you wondered if this was wrong, or simply one of the many unexplainable things that ewya had intended.
but how could you ever call it simple? even when his shade of blue was so different from yours, and how arms and legs and tail were so much thinner, you swore nothing has ever looked, felt, so right. “did you hunt in the forest?” you asked.
“often.” neteyam looked at you, so much lighter than he ever has before, at the mention of his first home falling from your pretty lips. two of the things he loves most entwined together. he fought the urge to kiss you, to feel the forest and the sea at once. “the first thing i caught was a fish.”
“you and i aren’t so different then.” you grinned.
neteyam finally felt that, after all this time, the move had been worth it. he promises to bring the spear next time.

hiii! uuh two questions - is the charms hole really...for that? lol. i thought it was for wrist straps so i put in it the only one i could find (one from a foldable umbrella) with mixed results but i feel safer than without. now that i see people refer to it as a charms hole im worried its gonna bend or something
also also, is the dpad on the n3dsll durable? ive been snaking in mkds a hell of a lot the past week trying to beat a staff ghost and myself in time trials so it might be just my imagination but it feels a bit rattly. not detached from its base, but like it moves around more with light prods
It is actually for wrist straps officially, but most people call it the charms hole. Nintendo has produced official wrist straps for the DS/3DS multiple times! It is a wrist strap hole. I've never heard of a 3DS charm hole breaking before, if that helps. And yes, the Dpad does wear a bit over time, but even new 3DS's have rattly Dpads. This is true across all DS models. It helps it from getting stuck in one position! I like it personally, but if you aren't used to it or didn't notice it before I could understand how it would be offputting.

— a more refined, detailed version of this post.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I did say that I didn’t quite know how to word my thoughts, so here is a version in which I do know how to do so. I’ll be going over all information with better application, along with the introduction of new information or analyses where need be.
There is, perhaps, no way to summarize Ajax, or anyone really, given the complexities of the subject’s character. But, if one absolutely must do so, I strongly hold that perhaps there is genuinely no better way to explain Childe than to compare him to a garnet, the beautiful, blood-coloured stone of life and passion, of strength and rebirth, of homesickness; and it is this is very justification that also leads me to believe that the red stone that he just always seems to have on his person somehow, whether it be through the earring he wears, the ones that dangles from his usual-outfit’s jacket (Blades of Glory), the one hanging from his fatui-harbinger fur-collared cloak, or even the one worn in the necklace depicted in the recent concert’s artwork.
In order to justify this comparison and association however, it is first necessary to delve into what garnets really are. Garnets refer to a category of silicate minerals that are available in a variety of species and colours, although deep shades of burgundy and crimson appear most commonly referred to in terms of the latter. Species include pyrope, almandine, andradite, and many more, though we will not be discussing anything that is species-specific. Primarily because that discussion would be more relevant if we were to discuss the composition of these gemstones rather than their believed spiritual properties, or historical significance. Because of this, if you really insist on specification — which, there is no need, since I quite genuinely had no intention of tying it to specific species, and it would be quite futile to do so even if I did considering that they almost always naturally occur in amalgamations — you may use almandines as reference, considering they’re the most common species. Garnets as a whole are quite durable, ranging from 6.5 to 7.5 on the Moh scale of hardness.
The term “garnet” finds its roots in the Medieval Latin word “Granatus”, which is derived from “Granum”, which means “seed-like”, spoken in reference to pomegranate seeds; though it took quite some time for this poor gemstone to have its own identity, considering that red gemstones were referred to using the umbrella term “carbuncle”. This name (garnet) was granted on basis of the similarity in colouring; the gemstone’s red was found to be strikingly similar to that of the fruit. Though, this association is not something that died at the naming process, never to move further; rather, becauss of this association, garnets became a symbol of marital fidelity, seen to reflect the affection shared between Persephone and Hades. It also, by relation, began to be associated with Persephone as a whole — Persephone, the Greek Goddess plunged into the underworld? The Greek Goddess known for her duality, as the Goddess of spring and fertility, but also the queen of the underworld?
Though this is a loose association to make, could the descent into the underworld not be loosely connected to the way Ajax fell into the abyss? Of-course, one mustn’t look for there to be a parallel to every role if one wishes to analyse with an open mind, so there is no Hades, and no abduction. Could this connection not be made then, considering how it was this descent that led to Persephone’s duality, and similarly it was his own descent that led to Ajax’s as well? He was a sweet boy, just a small child who didn’t know any better, but he returned different.
He returned with a piece of the abyss coursing through him in ways perhaps no-one could have imagined; he is no deity like her, of-course, and he is of no royal status, whether by blood or through marriage, but does he not carry his duality well? Is his duality not comparable to hers? A duality that balances the scale with gentle innocence and growth on one side, and death, reincarnation on the other? With the goddess even referred to as a protector(ess) in reference to the latter? Is Tartaglia any stranger to reincarnation and rebirth himself? The audience itself was led into believing he might have died, or would die, in Fontaine’s Archon quest. Was his reappearance not rebirth? Or, was his return from the abyss itself after the time he spent fighting and clawing his way through it without rest, not rebirth? What truly defines rebirth, anyway? Is he not comparable to a phoenix rising from its own ashes, all to live through a painful, self-destructive cycle once again? It is also seen to assist one in recalling their past lives but, I digress.
Garnets are stone with much history behind them; their usage as abrasives, and also gemstones, especially for decorative or jewellery purposes, has been found to date back all the way to the Bronze Age. It is a gemstone that has received so much love throughout the years, whether it be from the ancient Romans, Greeks, Chinese, Arabs, the Victorians, or the Egyptians. Many findings have been discovered regarding how Egyptians would inlay the gemstone in their jewelry as far back as 3100 BC; if was seen as a symbol of life as well as the afterlife, of prosperity, and despite both beliefs coming from two such separate cultures, is it not beautiful how perfectly this ties in to the association with Persephone, with her themes of death and rebirth? And is it not beautiful how this association ties in with Ajax, too? Is he not alive? Do his actions not scream at you to look at him, to look at the fact that he has survived, that he is here and he is alive and he is breathing and it hurts to breathe and he is blinded by his determination but he is alive. He is so alive that it is painful.
Associations with Aphrodite have also led to this stone being seen to symbolise eternity, particularly eternal love and eternal marriage, but eternity in general as well, and eternity can be seen as synonymous with immortality in a way. Considering his relation to the abyss and his ability to harbour powers that would undoubtedly kill the average person, a part of me cannot help but ponder if he truly still is mortal.
It has also found its use in ancient Romans’ signet rings, which they would use to stamp down the wax on important documents; signet rings hold great historical importance due to being traditionally worn by men of great importance, such as royalty and religious leaders, as well as businessmen and politicians for the purposes of performing their signature. Given how much importance one’s signature holds in contracts (fun fact: your face and visual identification holds less importance than your signature in contracts) and his introduction in the Liyue Archon quest, I’m sure some connections could be drawn here although I’m far too tired to do so myself at the moment. People also believed dragons to have eyes made of garnets during the Middle Ages so, take that however you will, really. That’s more or less irrelevant but I’ll be damned if I don’t shove random facts where they absolutely do not fit.
On the topic of life, did you know that in certain cultures (my own included), garnets are seen to symbolise blood? They are said to improve blood circulation throughout the body, as well as help with disorders and deficiencies related to one’s blood. They are said to provide physical strength and endurance to the wearer by strengthening their muscles as well, along with improving the health of one’s heart and bones. Furthermore, it is stated to help relieve the wearer of fatigue, whether it be physical and mental. Is all this not of interest to him? Is strength not one of the very few things he seems to genuinely care about? Is getting stronger not all that he thinks about at times? The gemstone’s association with life and health was so strong that it was historically seen to keep away pestilence and plague, with it even going so far as to be placed on wounds with the belief that it would aid recovery with its powers to heal.
It was, and still is, actually those recommended for those with a tendency to overexert themselves, and is that not who he is? A man who either does not know his limits, or pretends to feign ignorance simply so he has an excuse to push himself, to push until he breaks and shatters time and time again, defying his mortal limitations, if he even really is mortal anymore? It can also be seen to strengthen one’s survival instinct, and one’s will to pull themselves out of difficult situations. I can definitely see the latter fitting perfectly, though I find… little survival instinct in this man.
And speaking of blood, would it be wrong to highlight how much blood matters when talking about him? Blood can refer to bloodlines, to one’s kin; to the family he seeks to protect. Blood can refer to violence, to murder; to the lives he takes so thoughtlessly. Blood can refer to passion, to youth, to ambition and the ability to put it into action; and is that not all that he is? A young man blinded by his passions?
Though, while discussing strength and blood, it becomes very important to note it has a history of being used for protection, strength, and bravery by those entering into battle. At one point in history, it was even referred to as the warrior stone, or the stone of the warriors, especially by ancient Celtic communities, because it had become that much of a tradition for warriors to carry it with them. This is seen to be further highlighted by the facts it was used to decorate the battle equipment and armour of leaders and crusaders, both Muslim and Christian, as they marched into battle, with the former including battle shields and sword hilts. This was seen more prominently during the medieval era, with there being certain discoveries dating far back, such as the two shoulder armour claps found in a buried Anglo-Saxon ship dating back to early 7th century, and Anglo-Saxon sword hilts of gold and garnet from the 8th century. Are Ajax’s outfits any different? Well, yes, in the sense that they’re not utilizing proper armour pieces and he is dressed very inappropriately for battle, but my point is — armour or not, those are his battle clothes, and he adorns them with these red gemstones in such a similar fashion. How is he any different from those warriors, marching into battle adorned by the gleaming blood-red gemstone?
Speaking of battle — garnets were also utilised by Hunza warriors in the later part of the 19th century against the British, by being used in the form of pellets shot with bows and then guns later on; it was assumed that the gemstones would result in especially critical and bloody wounds, which, of-course they would. They’re stones. But the bow part can certainly be tied into Ajax, could it not? Considering he is a bow-user within the game and is actively trying to manage and improve his skills with the bow.
My final point is arguably my most favourite as well; it was actually quite a common choice for travellers journeying far from home as well, so much so that it also came to be known as the “Traveller’s stone”. It was seen as a bringer of good fortune and protection for those planning to journey far away; it was thought that it would bring them back to their homeland not only safe and sound, but a-lot quicker as well. It was given to travellers with the hope of protecting them from misfortunes and accidents while they were away. It was actually quite a common gift to loved ones embarking on faraway journeys for this reason; it has also been noted to be a popular gift among lovers to symbolise their affection but its most popular tradition — at-least historically — remains that of it being gifted with the hope of being reunited, of having this person who means so much to you, finally come back home to you. This could be taken in a romantic context, a familial context, or a platonic context; there’s absolutely no boundaries to this, though there have been records of friends exchanging garnets before parting, with the hope of being reunited through the gemstone they’re carrying with them. They were also used as good luck charms by sailors for this exact reason, because it was thought that having them would keep storms away. In-fact, the use of garnets as protection on sea is so popular that it is commonly thought that Noah only used a garnet to light his path on the Ark.
Speaking of the sea — I’ll get back to it being used by those travelling far away in a moment, but did you know that you can find garnets on beaches as well? Garnet gneiss actually; there have been many instances of people finding garnet sand on beaches, with crystals being eroded by the lashing of the waves. Considering Childe’s hydro vision, and his ascension requiring deep investigation of the beaches around Liyue, it wouldn’t be a reach to view this as another thread of value in this association.
Anyway, I’m really just copy-pasting the following lines from the skeleton of an analysis I offered last time, but it still just… does something to me. Whether you believe in stone-related superstitions and myths or not, is there not sweetness to be found in the desperate human impulse to find comfort? Even if you view the belief to be silly, the fact that to console the anxiety and fear rooted in that separation, the people from those times dedicated these feelings and warmth to this stone, isn't that special?
^ now, applying this pasted analysis, can you not imagine the anxiety his family must feel to have their Ajax be so far away from them? You may argue that the young ones don’t know; they just think he’s a toys salesman, but you would be forgetting one very important thing. Children worry, children worry when you go away for even a little longer than expected, and no-one really knows when Ajax really comes back home. He can write them letters of his return but does he even really know? Every time he talks of returning back home, is it really a promise, or is it a hope? To see his family just one more time? Children worry, and though Teucer does not know the truth about his big brother, he knows that his big brother isn’t with him. Do you think he doesn’t get afraid that his big brother might get hurt? Don’t you think Teucer has his innocent little worries regarding his big brother? Don’t you think his other siblings do, too?
I just think Garnet is the perfect stone for him, that’s all. I don’t think I can imagine another suiting the gemstone so perfectly, or another gemstone suiting him so perfectly.

The sky outside was an angry gray as the clashing sound of roaring thunder echoed. Flashes of lightning struck all around to unseen, but nearby places as the winds nearly knocked you off your feet. The weather report had said it was a severe thunderstorm day, after all. And your umbrella, no matter how strong or durable, was no match for this weather.
Fortunately, you spotted an abandoned building nearby. It was known to be abandoned, but it was a factory that had shut down many years ago due to worker's issues of some kind. And you figured that factories were durable. It would be enough to shield you from the weather. You didn't think twice and darted inside.
Another flash of lightning and growl of thunder came. And by that point, you heard a whimper with every flash of lightning and a terrified squeak with every thundering boom. Upon closer inspection, it seems to be coming from a room with a mountain of blankets piled up. And underneath one specific purple fuzzy blanket, there's a shivering mass. It can't be seen, but it seems to be making the sounds.
Do you check it out?

kakishibu(persimmon tunnin)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The other day I wrote that I like white, and then, without much pause, I write this.
I like the colour dyed with persimmon tannin.
It is an indescribable brown colour that this chemical dye does not have. When dyed with persimmon tannin and then iron-mordanted, the colour also becomes indescribable, almost black.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dyeing with liquid made by crushing astringent persimmons when young and fermenting them in water is called persimmon tannin dyeing. A typical example of the use of tannin is tanning of leather. Cloth dyed with persimmon tannin is more durable and has antiseptic and mothproof properties. It also has waterproofing properties, so much so that in old Japan, paper was repeatedly coated with it to make rain umbrellas. Even today, it is used as a stencil for dyeing tenugui.(Please search for “Ise katagami”.
1度目の染めではオレンジがかったピンク色に。それを日光に当てまた染めるを繰り返し色が茶色へと変化します。日に当てるほど深い色になってゆきます。 初めのうちは硬いのですが、着込んでいく事で柔らかくなっていきます。
When first dyed, it turns orangey-pink. It is then exposed to sunlight and dyed again and again until it turns brown. The more it is exposed to sunlight, the darker the colour becomes. The fabric is stiff at first, but becomes softer with use.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
そんな大好きな柿渋染めですが、欠点は縫う時にとても硬い事と、なんと言ってもその臭い笑!! でも安心してください。私の作品は臭いが抜けてから売っています。
I love persimmon tannin dyeing, but its drawbacks are that it is very stiff when sewing and, what can I say, its smell ! My family seems to be very annoyed when I am dyeing:) But don't worry. I sell my work after the smell is gone.

Glossary/Species (NOTE: Based off the old 2019 info before 2020 as I cannot find the newer versions. What I got should be still accurate though.)
セレスティアル (Celestials)
Tumblr media
Synonyms: Aliens, space rocks (jokingly), extraterrestrials
◆ Biology   Celestial is an umbrella term given to every species in space who is not native to Earth as organics. Though the most widely accepted definition of being classed as a Celestial would be the possession of a super organ named a Core. Most are ageless and immortal, and appear in the likeness of young adults. Though exceptions apply.
A celestial is usually comprised of three simple layers:
Outer layer - A type of thick "skin" or shell coating their bodies. Soft to touch but durable. The mantle - A substance below the outer layer. Acts like "blood". Qualities vary based on type. The core - A super organ acting as the Heart, Brain and Soul. Very important.
If the Core becomes damaged or unhealthy, a Celestial may die. Most of which will disperse into space dust upon it perishing. (Demons and Stars being an exeption)
Planets, Moons, and Lumierans have this simple internal structure. Asteroids are very similar, but have thicker mantles, parts of which can harden into geodes! Comets have very thin and cold mantles, its like water, and is often frozen solid. Stars have mantles made entirely of some sort of energy or plasma and seem to heal non-critical damage immediately. Not much is known about their internal structure.
The mantle can be a different colour and consistency depending on the individual.
◆ Rules   Celestials aren't currently allowed to interact with or let their presence be known to humans. This is a rule in place since the early 1900s after an incident involving the death of a Planet, among other celestials, at the hands of a human soul. Prior to this, humans and Celestials interacted scarcely, but they were largely believed to be gods or such. Since this rule came into place however, celestials have been largely forgotten by humanity, just believed to be myths or legends. Most humans don't believe in them.
◆ Technology   Due to the fact Celestials and Humans were allowed to interact, and the fact some human souls can be reincarnated into Lumierans or Demons, Celestial technology is quite advanced. Furthermore they seen to be advanced in other human inventions as well, such as styles of clothing and utilities. Surprisingly though, 4-wheeled vehicles (like cars and trucks) mobile phones, and the internet do not exist in Celestial society. If you showed a celestial a car, they really wouldn't know what it is.
◆ Health   Despite being ageless and immortal, Celestials can still get sick. There seems to be cases of colds, influenza and other irritating illnesses among them which can be caught. None of which infect the core fatally, but rather just cause annoying symptoms. Additionally infection can still occur to wounds if not treated. These are quite the mystery still as to why or how it happens, but it is bothersome in the meantime.
◆ Eating   Celestials do not need to eat, but it has become apart of their daily lives. So they still feel hungry if without it for too long, and simply just enjoy different types of foods. It is dissolved or melted within the mantle and gives energy to the core. Though they don't actually require to eat to survive, same with drinking.
◆ Solar Systems A society of Celestials inhabiting planets or lands orbiting or within the realm of a Star are called solar systems. As most do not have surnames, its common in official meetings to refer to a Celestial by their name followed by their native Solar System. For example "Jupiter of Taiyang System" or "Forseti of Trappist system". Some Demons and Lumierans who have Surnames still use this convention as well.
◆ Language All celestials seem to have a inherent known fluency of all human languages. A long long time ago there was a celestial specific language, but has since fell out of use. It's very archaic now and most celestials don't even know how to read it. Its said to look very similar to the Capitals of a font named Wingdings 3?!
恒星 (Stars)
Tumblr media
Synonyms: Suns, God.
◆ Stars The Stars are regarded as the most important and also one of the rarest type of Celestial.
Stars are seen as the overseers of their solar system. Holding immense ammount of power and mystery, many celestials don't ever even formally meet their Sun unless they are Planets.
A star orbited by planets and other objects is called a Solar System. A star in a Solar System is referred to as aSun by their inhabitants.
Like the other celestials of a similar type, they are sexless, though in the case of Stars, they all seem to use feminine pronouns, titles and appearances.
Not very much is known about them, though older stars seem to not show or understand emotion as much as newer Stars can.
Tumblr media
Taiyang, our Solar System's star, was the first Celestial to exist.
◆ Protostars
Fully formed stars have emerged a humanoid forme as adults and have been this way their entire life, however Protostars, the incomplete version of a star, seem to emerge as children. This is usually when a protostar is close to becoming a full star.
Protostars usually attend a form of "kindergarten" until they have reached a point of maturity and are deemed responsible enough to run a potential solar system, as well as their great powers. This kindergarten can last for several thousands of years. After this graduation, a protostar will go back within their protostellar body and explode. From this explosion, they will emerge as a fully formed star, and an adult!
Tumblr media
◆ Powers   Stars are powerful, making them even impossible to even think of overcoming if you are anything less. Some tried, but nobody has ever gotten anywhere with an attempt. ...aside from one.
A star has the ability to take away parts of a celestial's memory. Though this is not perfect. They can strip away what has been seen, but cannot remove what has been heard. Leaving those who have had aspects of their memories cleared for whatever reason plagued with thoughts they cannot explain the reasoning for. Confused or dismissing it to be intrusive or nightmare thoughts.
Stars also have the ability to give life to an object, but cannot take life away by their own hands. Stars also have the ability to float.
A unique type of power only stars seem to posses has been dubbed Nebulamancy. This is the control of a cloud like aura which can be manipulated to various densities, shapes and functions. Some theorized that lingering energy from space dust is what makes Nebulamancy so powerful.
Two cases of a star gifting on the power of Nebulamancy to a non-star celestial have been recorded.
惑星 (Planets)
Synonyms: Dwarf Planets (included), Minor planets (included) The 10 little sun birds*
Tumblr media
Synonyms: Dwarf Planets (included), Minor planets (included) The 10 little sun birds*
◆ Planets The planets are considered the "main" type of celestial, and were of the first to be created.
Planets emerge from their astronomical bodies in a humanoid forme, containing a fraction of their Core, they are interlinked with their original larger counterparts. They were an oppertunity to observe and experience life as humans do, even if their understanding of inheretly human things such as emotions is not as clear. Though they are always learning!
Over many years, planets have grown mentally and emotionally. They often stay in their system and amongst eachother as a group under their Sun who they often respect and admire. Often acting as the defensive and protective beings who shield their system from harm and invasion.
They are known to have a possibility of possessing elemental powers or significant prowess in a particular area such as fighting or thought.
◆ Society   All planets, along with Moons, Asteroids and comets, are sexless and cannot reproduce. They give themselves appearances they feel they like. They also have made relationships such as platonic, romantic or familial bonds with other celestials. Planets have also created creatures for their lands inspired by Earthling animals.
Planets are often have important jobs, especially ones who's astronomical body is a popular place for tourists or inhabitants. Rulers of their own land, many celestials look up to them.
Despite the fact they cannot grow like earthlings do, usually a Planet's height corresponds to their original body's size and in comparison to their fellow planets, though some exceptions apply.
*The first ten planets given life by Taiyang are called the 10 little sun birds in a certain legend. This is likely metaphorical.
Tumblr media
◆ Flowers   For some reason, it seems that if a planet's humanoid form dies, flowers will start to grow and bloom uncontrollably across their entire astronomical body. This has only been documented twice so far in our solar system. There is a large collection of flowers on Planet Sedna, especially of higanbana, to the extent of giving the minor planet a red hue from afar. Another case is on Planet Haumea, though these flowers have not bloomed. For this reason, nobody knows if they are alive or dead, wherever they are now...
衛星 (Natural Satellites)
Tumblr media
Synonyms: Moons
◆ Natural Satellites  Natural Satellites are the celestials found orbiting planets or other astronomical bodies. They can emerge a humanoid form just like the Planets and thus have a very similar internal structure. Though seem to lack the possibility of having any elemental powers.
Natural Satellites are most often completely humanoid, though seemingly have a high chance to emerge with traits of animals or strange appendages, such as ears or wings. It is currently unknown why this happens, but is certainly quite the unique phenomenon.
Moons may also emerge completely as creatures, lacking any humanoid features at all. It isnt fully known why they do this, but it seems to be a conscious choice. Some have stated that being such a thing lets them give their planet a unique form of joy, companionship and unconditional love, while others just state they like the easy life of being an animal-like thing.
Tumblr media
◆ Society Natural Satellites are seen as subordinates to their Planet. In most cases, quite literally, they find their world revolving around their Planet. There seems to be an instinctive, natural bond with their Planet. The relationships Moons can have with their planets can vary. Some fall in love, some Planets act like parental figures to their moons, some moons act as companions to their planet, while some planets and moons are simply just friends or accquaintances. The bond between a planet and their Moon(s) is often strong, so seeing a planet and their moon be on bad terms is very uncommon.
The bond between Natural Satellites and Planets is very special, its a little difficult to compare it to anything else.
They often have more active and travelling jobs than their planets.
小惑星と箒星 (Asteroids and Comets)
◆ Asteroids
Tumblr media
Synonyms: space rocks, living geodes, snowballs
Asteroids are tough and strong Celestials. Aside from moon rabbits, they showcase the best physical strength of all celestials. This is due to their very dense and thick internal magma, some of which can harden into geodes!
Asteroids are of the most common type of Celestial aside from Demons. They are found everywhere, and travel a lot, so they are often given all kinds of jobs. Mainly heavy duty ones.
As mentioned earlier, Asteroids can contain geodes which house minerals and gemstones. The amount of geodes within an Asteroid's body can vary between each. Some containing little to no geodes, while some are swarming with them. Knowing which gemstone geodes they contain can be found out by a doctor. This has made them targets in some solar systems for harvesting gemstones, though this practice is outlawed in most places.
Are unlikely to ever get damaged, their bodies are super tough!
◆ Comets
Tumblr media
Comets are fragile and cold Celestials. Unlike the rest, their bodies are made up of a cold liquid mantle, most of which is always frozen, giving them internal bodies like glass or ice.
They are susceptible to melting or shattering, though this can be easily mended when using the right proceedure. As long as their core is submerged within their mantle, the liquid can be frozen and take form again somewhere colder. Though this means that they can easily die, especially if alone. Flying too close to a sun will cause them to melt and evaporate away if not contained in time..
Because of their brittleness and rarity, they are often given jobs not requiring much physical strength. Such as history recording, accounting or office jobs. Though they are natural travellers, and enjoy going from place to place.
◆ Overgrowth   Asteroids and Comets seem to have the ability to manifest a unique phenomenon or mutation named an Overgrowth. This is where either geodes or ice will grow abnormally out of the mantle. These can be anywhere on their body, but usually occurs on the head, arms, back or legs. This can be cut down and removed without much trouble, but it will grow back quickly. Some Asteroids or Comets with this condition feel ashamed of it and want to hide it, while others embrace it as part of their identity and image.
For instance, Hekate has overgrowth on their head, which they have polished and painted black and to look like horns.
ルミエーラン (Lumieran)
Tumblr media
Synonyms: angel (mistakenly), space bird
◆ Lumierans   Lumierans are a race of celestial created from the light of a sun. They were initially created to fill a void by a Star who had no planets, and thus the first independant celestials, who were not attached to any form of astronomical body, were born.
Lumierans are humanoid, but have wings on their backs and luminecent plumage on their heads. These can vary in shapes and sizes, but often reflects that of Earthling birds. They are internally similar to planets, but unlike planets, they can reproduce. Though despite this, they aren't very common.
Often mistakenly called "angels" by humans or other earthlings.
◆ Society Lumierans, seen as a radiant entity, are often highly regarded among celestials. Though despite this, many solar systems simply treat them as prized accessories or servants to their sun. Something shiny and nice to look at while also functioning as members of a controlled society or court. Some in particular are kept close to their suns as personal servants. Though not all solar systems are like this. For instance, our solar system, treats Lumierans as equals with other celestials such as demons. There is a lumieran-based land in our Sun named Hiyoyoa. Currently, the one who looks over this land is Cahaya.
Lumierans have the ability of flight, as well as manifesting weapons from light. They are also known to be agile and lightweight. They are good listeners, and are often seen to be pure and a blessing to be in the presence of in comparison to Demons, though this is not always the case.
Tumblr media
悪霊 (Demons)
Tumblr media
Synonyms: Succubus, Incubus, imp, devil, oni, byproduct (condecending)
◆ Demons Demons are the beings created from the flames of the sun. Initially they weren't even intended to be created at all, and were the byproduct in the creation of Lumierans, emerging from the leftover flames which were now seperated from the light.
Demons are very common across the entire universe. They are the celestials most like humans in structure, though still possess a Core. They are the only celestial, aside from Stars, who do not disintergrate into spacedust upon perishing.
Demons are often either feared or not treated well by other solar systems. Often disregarding them to simply be pests or rodents. Relegated to jobs such as warlords or guards, or locked solely in specific cities for them. Though some solar systems, such as ours, treats them as equals along with Lumierans.
A leader of demons is named the Devil.
Tumblr media
◆ Society Demons are the Celestials most like humans biologically and socially. They seem to have a much more understanding of emotions and human conventions than most celestials do. This may be part due to the fact Demons often plagued earthlings for many years. Playing tricks on them or using them for their own plots. Though this has lessend over the years, most demons just stay inside sun-based lands. Our solar system's largest land of demons is called Sunsuhan, and is located within the sun. Its also sometimes referred to as hell, by humans, though this isnt fully accurate. Our Solar system's current Devil is Akazel.
Though they are known to have a natural sense of mischeif and desire to do taboo things such as trickery, gambling, cannibalism, dark magic, blackmail, unfair deals, murder, and experimentation, not all of them are like this. In fact some just live their life as anyone else would.
Demons are very well known among Celestials for their science. Sometimes it hardly makes sense at all, but theres extensive documentation on Demon sciences. From "how to grow bat wings" to "how to drink space milk when you're lactose intolerant", they have many breakthroughs in science and dark magic which are readily avaliable and helpful to all kinds of celestials.
Every demon's tail is unique to them. Think of it as like an identifying mark.
月の兎 (Moon Rabbits)
Synonyms: Tsukinousagi, yuetuu (rarely)
Tumblr media
◆ Moon Rabbits   Moon rabbits are...well..Rabbits of the moon! A small race of diligent hard workers under the care of Luna, who they refer to formally as Togetsuhime.
Moon rabbits were initially regular earthling rabbits, but upon being given as a gift to the Moon by Mother Earth, they evolved over time and became what they are today. There are two main types of Moon Rabbit; The humanoid Moon rabbit, and the Pyonco (little rabbits).
They are only found on Earth's moon and rarely ever leave, so not much is known about them biologically or by many celestials. Though they all seem to be female, or atleast present as such.
Their ears, socks, and tail are known to feel like marshmallow.
◆ Society Moon rabbits spend the very vast majority of their time pounding Mochi on the moon. A request that was asked of them by Togetsuhime thousands of years ago. Though they don't see it as labour, they seem to quite enjoy it. The little Pyonco don't do much work, because they...can't really. Though they can carry things on their heads. (50% chance of it falling off though)
Because of their routine of pounding mochi every day for several thousand years, they are VERY physically strong, especially with the mallet. Though moon rabbits do not fight, so this is seldom ever utilized outside of working jobs. They are very proficient workers, and the daily exercise really pays off. Surprisingly, they don't find it repetitive.
Humanoid moon rabbits have weighted socks, while pyonco have weighted cotton tails. This prevents them from drifting off into the cosmos when jumping.
鳳天国人 (Houtenian)
Tumblr media
Synonyms: Bird people
◆ Houtenians Houtenians are a race of humanoid birds, originating on the floating islands of Houtengoku (鳳天国). They were the first earth animals to be given the ability to shapeshift into humanoid form.
Houtenians are humanoid, meaning they look very human like, though bird-like features can vary between each. Some may have humanoid appearances, but with wings as their arms, or clawed feet, or even bird heads. It greatly varies, but most houtenians are completely humanoid. They can be identified by the ever present motif of feathers always on some part on their body.
Houtenians are born as little birds, but as they get older, will develop the ability to become humanoid.
◆ Society Houtenians live on the very secret, floating islands of Houtengoku. A wandering super continent on the cusp of our Earth's atmosphere. This is never seen by humans, they are somehow able to hide it very well for such a large place.
Houtenians help humans in many ways, and are responsible for many many of lifes conveniences. They are responsible for air mail delivery and delivering christmas presents, under the pseudonym of Santa. In this world, humans believe he really is real! When really its just 100 pigeons or something. No humans know about Houtengoku or the Houtenians, even some celestials aren't aware of their existance. Though they are seen as the midway point between Earthlings and Celestials.
Houtenians are said to be related to Lumierans in some way, something like a common ancestor.
Tumblr media
魔女 (Witches)
Tumblr media
◆ Witches Witches are a humanoid race found on earth. They are experts in specified magic and spells which science can't explain. Witches can vary in appearance, but most look like regular humans. Identified usually by their large hats or magical staff. They can have a very long lifespan compared to regular humans, depending on how proficient their powers are and how many familiars they have.
Some beings are born with a natural sense of magic, it is currently unknown how this happens, but is assumed to be genetic, as witches often pass down their magic to their offspring. Though humans and other species can train to become witches if they so desired, albeit it is very difficult. Some beings are merely witches by cosmetic appeal and hobby.
Magician is a gender neutral term, Sorcerer and Sorceress are terms applied to witches who have lived a very long time and are a powerful master of their craft, often feared.
◆ Familiars Familiars, to a witch, are animals or monsters who accompany a witch and are at their aid if needed. Familiars can range from domesticated pets, to wild humanoid animals, or even high level myths such as dragons. Familiars are captured by witches and have their soul bound to their wands, and can be summoned at any time if the witch desires to. Witches with many familiars increase their magical strength, and live much longer, so its common for witches to capture many familiars, even if they are rarely summoned upon.
Some witches merely choose to have their "familiars" as friends. At the expense of not being able to extend their life-span, they do not tie their familiars to the wand for moral reasons, so they have a much more mutual and fair dynamic and are not bound to them against their will. Though this practice is met with confused stares by most witches.
Some beings should NOT be caught by lower level witches, or advised to never be captured at all. These can be upredictable or dangerous to witches, and may not obey.
Tumblr media
It's kind of like Pokemon.
幽霊 (Ghosts)
Synonyms: Phantoms, Ghouls, Ghasts, Wispers, Souls, Spirits, Phantasms
◆ Ghosts Ghosts is a general term given to a variety of different, yet similar variations of souls. Though this term is mostly applied to spirits summoned by necromancy.
Ghosts are often, but not always, the soul of a dead earthling. This soul is usually lightweight and seeming to be made of gas, flame or some kind of soft ectoplasm. Celestials won't turn into ghosts.
Sometimes they're kept as pets or familiars.
◆ Ghosts Souls summoned through Necromancy. In their base form, they look like a squishly blob with a funny face. Though their appearance may vary based on who summoned them. They can regain their original appearance for a short time, but is tiring and cannot maintain it for long. Have to be summoned to exist. Usually they were originally monsters or animals.
◆ Wispers Wispers are a type of ghost who may be human souls who did not go to reincarnate. Some cases of wispers being born from nothing exist as well. They usually look like little balls of fire, but can show their true form if desired. This can be done at will. This form is solid. Often haunts places. It is common for them to be in the lamps of witches.
◆ Souls A human soul in its raw form. Though this is actually made up of two components. The conscious soul and the unconscious soul. The concious soul look exactly like the human was before they died, and feels like them too. The unconscious soul manifests as a mostly formless dark shadow, or inhabits nearby objects around the conscious soul. It can grow with negative emotions and may act instinctively or agressively. In the process of being reincarnated, these two aspects of the soul are combined together as one to form a Core. It is crucial this process be performed otherwise it would be dangerous if left able to manifest both seperately. The unconcious soul in this form is often called a phantasm.
This type of Ghost is usually only seen when in the reincarnation process of a human.
◆ Inugami A type of dog soul. It died in a very terrible way, but lives again now with the utilities of dark magic and immortality. They still feel a pain in their necks.
Tumblr media
人間 (Humans)
Tumblr media
Synonyms: organics, earthlings, people, patients, eccentrics, the boring ones (hey?!)
◆ Humans Humans are...well..Humans. It really is self explanitory. There isn't much to say here than what you already know.
Humans are organic creatures native to Earth. Nobody knows where they came from, or what their purpose is. Celestials crafted themselves in the image and likeness of humans, observing them and learning from them in ways of life.
Humans can stay their entire life as humans, or become witches, make a deal with a demon, or other means which would no longer let them able to be classed as humans.
Humanity's purpose is unclear, but they're too intelligent to be dismissed.
◆ People  Humans in this universe are the same as any other. Though in this universe, while most things are the same, some things are ever so slightly different. Particularly the myths and legends humans had with Celestials from long long ago. Humans used to regard Celestials as deities or gods, while others formed cults despising them thinking they were inheretly no good.
Though since being banned from visiting earth and interacting with humans for over a century, most humans don't believe in celestials anymore. Thinking they were just myths, legends, or mythological stories. Humans who have discovered proof Celestials or Monsters in modern times and try to speak of them are labeled as Eccentrics.

(New York Jewish Week) — On Friday evening, several dozen people huddled underneath umbrellas and raincoats in a new sukkah in Brooklyn that had survived the day’s record-setting rainstorm.
The sukkah, created by queer textile artist Hilla Shapira, was unharmed: Its light purple walls were made of ripstop, a lightweight and water-resistant fabric. Its soft and pillowy decorations — which included Jewish symbols like hamsas as well as depictions of the four species — were made of dacron, a durable, polyester batting that held up in the deluge as well.
Shapira said the project — titled Lavender Diaspora — was meant to channel her identities as a queer person who grew up in a religious household in Israel, and also as an immigrant in the United States, where she studied art in Michigan before moving to Brooklyn.
“I try to find parallel relationships between what it is to be queer and Jewish, and to be a person from Israel,” Shapira, 33, told the New York Jewish Week. “It’s especially relevant when we’re talking about Sukkot, which is a holiday that the Jewish people were celebrating in the in-between space, between Egypt and Israel — they were on the way somewhere, but in something that is temporary and stuck in this kind of forever nomadism.”
Speaking at a Shabbat dinner hosted by The Neighborhood: An Urban Center for Jewish Life, the Brooklyn-based organization that commissioned the sukkah, Shapira said she had designed her structure to celebrate communities that find themselves on the outskirts of society.
She was speaking on the first night of Sukkot, the weeklong holiday in which Jews build a temporary structure called a sukkah, meant to commemorate in part the structures that the Israelites lived in as they wandered through the desert from Egypt to Israel. Throughout the holiday, which ends at sundown on Saturday, Jews eat, pray and even sleep in the sukkah.
The Neighborhood has partnered with 12 other Jewish communities and organizations to celebrate and host events in the unique sukkah, including Romemu Brooklyn, Lab/Shul, Jews of Color Initiative and the Prospect Heights Shul.
“We were really excited to think about not just a sukkah as an art object, but really also as a place to bring different communities and groups of people together in this temporary structure,” Rebecca Guber, the founding director of The Neighborhood, told the New York Jewish Week.
“We also thought about what were some different perspectives that we could bring into this stuff,” she added. “We wanted something that brings in young families, that would be comfortable if you’re a more observant Jew and that also feels kind of wild.”
Located in the courtyard of Luria Academy, a Jewish day school in Prospect Heights, students will use the sukkah for their meals and programming during the day. In the evenings and on the weekend, The Neighborhood will use the sukkah for its own programming, which includes the launch of a Sukkot zine in partnership with Ayin Press, a family-friendly music jam, a dance event and more.
As a queer woman who grew up in an Orthodox home in Israel — as well as an immigrant to the United States — Shapira said she’s often searched for a sense of belonging. “The sukkah I tried to create is a space that is offering an alternative, or making a suggestion for a communal space for all the ‘shoulders’ of society,” she said.
Lavender, the color of the walls of the sukkah, is a symbol of LGBTQ resistance and activism. The other half of the title, Diaspora, refers to both the dispersion of the Jewish people as well as the feeling of marginalization experienced by Jews, LBGTQ people and other minorities — the sukkah is meant to be a temporary space that alleviates that feeling.
The Neighborhood is a community hub that primarily partners with other Jewish organizations to create innovative Jewish cultural and spiritual events for Jewish life. The Lavender Diaspora sukkah was funded by UJA-Federation New York. (UJA-Federation is also a funder of 70 Faces Media, the parent company of the New York Jewish Week.)
“What really resonates for us is the way that this sukkah welcomes everyone in — whatever position you feel you occupy in the Jewish community — maybe some people feel like insiders, other feel like outsiders, we really hope this can be a place where many different people can feel welcomed, and that their perspectives and identities are being honored,” Guber said.

“Oh Matt… what did they do to you?”
Having wanted to uncover what the Umbrella Corporation was up to once and for all, Matt had gotten more than he bargained for when he was caught snooping around a facility in Eastern Europe and discovered that not one, but two entities were responsible for the illegal human experimentation going on there. Umbrella had formed some unholy partnership with another entity called Hydra, one Matt had never heard of before, and after they imprisoned him, he wished he never had.
Matt was infected with a prototype T-virus and subjected to round after round of tests and surgeries. His body grew massive and mutated out of control. Tentacles sprouted from the backs of his shoulders, the skin on his face was puled back so tightly that he no longer had lips, and his teeth were now big enough to be a bear's. He had to wear a tight leather support around his midsection to quite literally hold in his bulging body, for it had mutated enough in some places to be painfully structurally unsound. One of his retinas had been fitted with a device that allowed a digital overlay to his regular sight, giving him the ability to identify people, creatures, and weapons just by looking at them. The synthetic neuro-transponder was sewn and stapled up into his head just behind his right eye, and with it, he could not only identify targets in real time, but also receive orders by viewing them as part of the digital overlay along with the rest of his sight. He was no longer Matt Addison. They called him... The Nemesis.
Because that had been the point of all this horrific research... to create super soldiers. more importantly, to create expendable yet durable ones that could be deployed, take a lot of damage, complete certain objectives, and then either be collected or discarded. Matt had signed up for exactly none of this, but he no longer had any rights or means to complain. He'd only seen himself in a mirror a few times, and the last time he had, he went on a half-hour-long rage that took six soldiers to stop, breaking not only the mirror but a lot of expensive laboratory equipment as well. An increase in anger and violent tendencies seemed to be a side effect of the viral mutation.
Both Hydra and Umbrella had been racing to develop some kind of control chip that could be implanted into Nemesis' brain, allowing full control of him for field deployment. As of yet, they had been unsuccessful. Massive amounts of sedatives kept him docile, but whenever they tried to back off of the concentrations, he rebelled against his captors.
Matt's only respite in this terrible place was talking with some of the other test subjects, particularly a pair of twins named Wanda and Pietro. They seemed like nice people, if not a bit naïve to the true nature of the people who held them captive. Matt did his best to educated them, telling them all about what he and his other activist comrades had discovered, but the twins seemed to have an axe to grind against one of the world's most powerful billionaires, and they thought the results of this research were going to grant them he power to punish him. In truth, Matt felt bad for them, but talking to them helped keep him sane. He hadn't seen them in a long time, though, not since he'd begun to mutate...
Until, one day, his medication had apparently not been refilled, and once the IV drip of sedatives stopped, it was a matter of minutes before Nemesis was stirring. As he groggily sat up, his one good blue eyes blinking sluggishly, he looked around to see no one in the room with him. By the time he was puling out all manner of wires and IV lines from his body and sitting up from the gurney, he heard the door to his room open behind him. Whirling around, Nemesis' rage was already provoked and he growled savagely at whoever had entered... only to immediately calm down again. It was Wanda.
Tumblr media
Standing up from the gurney, Nemesis stood calmly, his blue eye looking her over. Then she said his name - his true name - and his head bowed in a mixture of shame and despair. "Thiral... ex-to-sure..." he tried to say,his voice low and rumbling like some creature from hell. Without lips, "v" and "p" sounds, among others, were impossible to make. "Nu-ta-tions..." Yeah, "m" sounds were also impossible. He was getting frustrated. "Surgeries." Ah, that he could say.
As he looked at Wanda, the automatic targeting software in his neural implant was downloading information. Her identification came up within view at the bottom of his field of vision. It read: "Maximoff, Wanda. Human. Female. Program: Exposure to highly concentrated alien mineral substance. Health: Stable. Progress: Satisfactory. Status: Ongoing. Threat Level: Moderate."
Behind him, his tentacles undulated with curiosity. They were strange appendages, not quite having their own sentience but definitely displaying some amount of inclination outside of Matt's own voluntary movement of them. As they curiously extended towards Wanda, Matt beat them back with his hands. "Cut it out!" he reprimanded them and they shrunk back behind him. Looking at Wanda, he sighed. "Sor-ry..."
He was glad to see that they hadn't subjected her to surgeries and mutations like they had him. "Are you o-kay... Wan-da?" he asked, hoping she was. He wouldn't have wished his fate on anyone, not even his worst enemy.

I always see people say Jill is the best Ghostface, even compared to the og Billy, and I'm here to explain why I disagree.
People always say that Jill is the better because she lasted longer, but from what I remember is that Billy and Stu specifically wanted to unalive Sydney on the anniversary of her mother's (Maureen's) death, another victim of Billy and Stu, and that was a year ago, Jill's motive was fame and that could have lasted however long she wanted, Billy and Stu's reveal was quick for that purpose.
While I do agree that Jill did make smarter decisions than Billy and Stu, who would have won if they didn't get so distracted and stab each other before killing Sydney, we cant deny they are also very smart. They had made drawn-out plans to get away with murder before, and that had been successful, all from just watching horror movies. They're also great manipulators as Billy had managed to make his victims daughter fall in love, date, and take her virginity. Stu and Billy had made all of the friend group trust them. And we can assume Billy had managed to persuade Stu to follow through with the plans in the first place.
Physically, there is no denying that Billy had a way higher physical advantage on Jill or anyone else, as he had managed to break a glass window by jumping at it. Fought against Sidney Prescott. Billy should be comparable to Stu Macher, whom he traded stabs with. Billy knocked out Gale with a kick. Overpowered many people many times (Sydney, Hung Casey Becker from a tree), not to mention he had caught up to Sydney and Casey multiple times when they ran, even when he was harmed.
Durability wise, Billy was unharmed from tumbling down the stairs, which could leave head injuries. He had traded stabs with Stu Macher. Withstood getting two glass bottles smashed on him. Briefly survived a gunshot wound. Was only temporarily stunned after getting stabbed in the heart with an umbrella by Sidney.
If there was anything I forgot to add or mention, please tell me. Also, this isn't hate against anyone. I just think Billy is the better Ghostface (Plus Stu, but I was mostly talking about Billy)

I've been cooking an AU a bit in an Adam server on discord. I am going to call it the Superhero Homunculi AU with Lilith and Adam are the first manmade homunculi with powers.
There is an age of people having powers, this is skyrocketting, people gaining them from curses, experiments, or were born with them. It's a new age of uncertainty where there are those who wish to have a normal life, others who turn to the life of crime, or are vigilantes fighting against other criminals or the system at large.
One company, Edan Corp., hopes to change things for the better. They have been crafting perfection of genetically engineered quasi-humans called homunculi born to assist humanity at large. The homunculi are created as twins to balance the other out, and if there happens to be any failures that the other will be survive and have a working blueprint to change the next batch of homunculi. The CEO of Edan Co. is known as the God of Creation, who created this substance for the homunculi that will allow them to grow fast, to an adult, as they master and unlock their their powers.
The first two homunculi that were created is Adam and Lilith, where Adam is the first of the duo to wake followed by Lilith. The two appear to be children around the age of 7 with their own handlers that are top scientists of Edan Corp.: Sera and Michael with Adam while Lucifer and Gabriel are with Lilith.
Both Adam and Lilith grow up together as if they are brother and sister. Adam is more curious while Lilith is outgoing initially. The duo are sometimes socialized by the various employee's kids, learning right from wrong from their respective handlers, and go through training from the Seraphs, aka their main handlers.
The humonculi need to be together when they are young as the substance that makes them up is unstable before it levels off after a few weeks. The Seraphs had to keep them calm and make sure they are relatively well-adjusted. While these two are the future for humanity it is important to give them some form of a childhood before throwing them to solve various problems. However, Sera and Michael are more harder on their charge that even Lilith notices when both Lucifer and Gabriel (one or both) are caring for Adam while she gets Michael and/or Sera. [going for vibes similar to Umbrella Academy]
Adam does not notice this as he pushes some of Lilith's concerns that something is off with Michael and Sera. They need them to be better and he isn't the best - he lags behind mastering his power compared to Lilith who ages faster than him as she becomes better. Both can have access to either their primary or secondary but typically the secondary manifests (looking physically 15) when the individual is aware of what they can do.
Lilith has the power of Inspiring Song - she is able to manipulate others, calm them down in large crowds or make them angry. If she sings she is able to actually change the viewpoint of the masses, it works better if they are within a certain radius of her and being physically there. She can temporarily gift someone power but only for a short time with her Inspiring Song, but this has to be her actually singing to someone. As she matures she gains the ability of Empower, which she can embolden herself with her own songs and, if someone gifts their name freely that she has, she can give them extra power by directly shaping any ability one has or gifting a small power to someone with no power. This is a permanent boost which is different than her Inspiring Song which lasts for like 20 minutes tops
Adam has the power of Nature. Initially he can control plants, how they mature, if they can be dormant etc. before having the ability to control the wind, rain, thunder and lightening. His secondary ability is Bestow. With Bestow, if Adam names someone/something - be it a nickname or something else - he gets more power to do things (enhance strength, breathing underwater, durability, tremorsense, lifesense, minor healing salve/plants etc.) and when someone is named, they are slightly changed and some of their power - be it actual or something related to what they can do - is taken by Adam. He turns it into his own (ex., he names an artist he gets a small portion of their power aka drawing a bit better). Adam doesn't use his secondary ability too often because it feels weird.
Lilith, despite her power being supportive, uses it actively and there is more ease. Adam blunders a bit with his, with his secondary ability Bestow because he uses his subconsciously - he knows that there is more to it (to Bestow and Nature) but he wasn't sure what since Nature/Bestow has more of an evolution stage for him. When he gives people nicknames - Lilith = Lily - it feels weird to him because while he gets power he takes some from other people. Lilith doesn't realize that she had some of her power taken away initially but likes that flowers seem to perk around her and can create vines.
She'll realize the true ramifications later.
When Lilith and Adam are physically 12 the CEO announces that there is a new face of heroes to answer the world's problem. Both Lilith and Adam are wearing costumes, and are helping people evacuate or get hurt. Lilith is able to Inspire and Empower firefighters and crowds they can take matters into their own hands and she is well-versed in hand-to-hand combat. Adam tries to work in the background, sometimes it's difficult to use his plants initially in combat but makes sure to use them to trap any criminals.
[I'll write more about this later, it is quite late. I just want to set up a thing where Lilith and Adam are friends/siblings before the inevitable rift happens. I'll talk more about Lucifer, Michael, Sera, and Gabriel next time]
