Summary: You realize the line between love and hate is very thin as you babysit and monster hunt alongside Steve Harrington.

Leaning pathetically against your locker, you banged your head against the metal, tugging on the end of your cheerleading skirt that got caught in the door when you slammed it shut. It’s your fault really, you were so happy to get it open for once. Of course, it had to be too good to be true.
“Need some help with that?”
Your lips swerved into a smile at the familiar voice, leaning away from your locker to look at one of your favorite girls.
“Yes, Nancy. Please!” you pleaded, laughing as the girl stepped forward, easily opening your locker door, not even needing to ask the combination from the amount of times she’s had to open it.
Nancy Wheeler smiled smugly when your locker opened, releasing you and your skirt.
Nancy had been one of your best friends since you moved to Hawkins along with Chrissy Cunningham and Heather Holloway. At twelve years old, you were anxious, but to your surprise, extremely charismatic. You found friends like wildflowers, something you loved, but Nancy was one of the best. She was like a rose, beautiful and smart, something that drew you to her in the first place.
“My savior! How could I ever repay you?” you joked, mocking a princess before laughing at your own joke, tugging your books tighter to your hip.
Nancy grimaced. “Well,” she started, and your brows furrowed, making you feel uneasy, “Firstly, by not being too mad…”
Nancy shoved a note in your face. You squinted reading the words that alert you that King fucking Steve was waiting for your best friend in the bathroom, wanting to make out. Gross.
“Ew,” you stated, playful smile turning into a pout. Your shoulders slumped, concern kicking in rather than disgust. “Harrington? Really, Nance? You could do so, so much better.”
To you, Steve Harrington was the worst person at Hawkins high. A real player who had absolutely no consideration for anyone’s feeling but his own and his stupid little posse. Generally a piece of shit.
“You owe me,” she mutters, shrugging her shoulder to try to rid her mind of what you were implying, what she had already been anxious about.
“I just think it’s a bad idea,” you say softly, trying not to hurt the poor girls feelings, but really you were just trying to help.
“And why’s that?” she asks, on the defensive.
You shake your head, holding yourself back from rolling your eyes. “He’s a bad idea,” you state simply. “He treats girls like shit and you know better to accept that.”
“You don’t know him.”
“I know that he dumped Charlotte after he had sex with her,” you offered, looking at her with a raised brow. Nancy rolls her eyes.
“Well, that’s Charlotte. And I’m going to see him,” she announces, a little like she’s singing.
Sighing disappointedly, the bell rings in your ears. Great, you’re late.
You give Nancy a look already walking backwards towards your first period. “Make good decisions. Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do!”
“You wouldn’t go out with him the first place!” she calls back, looking at you with a playful expression.
“Exactly.” You smile, finally turning around and heading to your class. When you fully turn, your smile disappears.
Something about Steve makes you anxious, fills your body with unease whenever you two make eye contact when your both at your lockers. You hate the way he smiles smugly at you. And you hate that he’s going after another one of your friends, the fear of her getting hurt makes your stomach ache.
This time, if he hurts her, you hurt him.
And that’s exactly what happened.
You were on your evening walk, frowning at the missing poster you see of Will Byers, your little brother’s best friend and Johnathan Byers, one of your best friends, brother. It’s a saddening sight, especially since the young boy’s funeral. Absolutely heartbreaking.
Frustration is throbbing through your body. You feel helpless, unable to find the boy despite having helped put up posters and searched through the woods countlessly.
You were also angry with yourself for allowing your brother out of the house when you heard the news, letting him and his friends set out in search for him themselves because your heart ached looking into your brother’s teary eyes as he begged you not to tell mom that you caught him sneaking out.
It was stupid, that you told him to keep his walking on him, stay with his friends, and to stay safe or you’d fucking kill him. You’re a shitty sister.
You were an idiot. An idiot people pleaser who never knew when to say no to her friends and family. It was stupid that when your empathetic heart feels their pain you resort to the worse stress reliever, and contradictory to your guilty conscience, violence.
“Harrington, you better get your ass down from that ladder right now!”
You saw him from a mile away, the words spray painted on the movie theatre that you would always take your brother and his friends. The only thing you could make out of it was that Steve fucking Harrington was caught defaminating one of your best friend’s names while vandalizing the cinema.
Steve’s eyes went wide at the sight of you, the beautiful girl who ignored and criticized his every move. His ex-girlfriends best friend. His heart raced at your angry expression. His cheeks probably got a little red too.
“Henderson, what the hell are you doing here?” he asked, sponge pausing its movement to look down at you. Steve had completely forgotten what it looked like had happened, oblivious to everything else around him, his entire focus on you. His fake innocence only made you angrier.
Ignoring his question, you fumed, “Get your ass down or I’m pushing you off this damn ladder!”
Steve’s eyes widened as he muttered curses under his breath, quickly climbing down from the ladder. You pretended that seeing his face bloody and bruised didn’t make your stomach ache.
“Jesus, what your pro—,” You shoved him, and he stumbled back, arms stretched out as his back hits the ladder, “blem!”
“You wrote this? You called Nancy a slut?!”
You pushed him again, and he stumbled again, still looking at you like you’re crazy. He caught your wrists when you went to push him again.
Your hands were held at his chest, pulling you into his chest despite how you try to plant your feet, to stay away from him. Steve still has an bizzare look on his face as he looks down at you, cheeks pink and he’s slightly out of breathe from how he scrambled to grab your wrists.  Steve rapidly shakes his head, blurting, “What? No! No, I didn’t!”
You let out a scoff, nodding sarcastically as if you believed him. “So… you just cleaning it up? Bullshit,” you spit, and Steve looks almost hurt by your insinuation.
“Yes! “ He announced, running a hand through his hair when you tugged your wrists free. “I didn’t write this!”
Crossing your arms over your chest, you looked at him accusingly, like he was stupid. “Then who did, Harrington?”
“Tommy.”
“Oh, you’re best friend!” you exclaimed, “That totally makes so much of a difference.”
“No, Henderson, — I.” He groaned. He glanced around, breathing out of his mouth before he pinched his nose. “I should’ve stopped him, I know, but I’m cleaning this up now. I’m trying to fix it.”
“Because you got caught?”
“No! I just—,” he shook his head. “I’m not… friends with those assholes anymore. I just wanna help.”
Really? you thought to yourself. Your nose scrunched as you scanned him up and down for a second with repulsion. He’s not friends with Tommy and Carol anymore? That’s hard to believe.
Your interrogation seemed never ended, and you still had the urge to punch him in the face despite the cuts and bruises that stand prominent on his handsome face. You wet your lips, ignoring your natural concern and continuing. “Help? Help what?”
“I wanna apologize,” he said. “To Nance.”
“Really?” you deadpanned.  Steve arms waved wildly before he poked to fingers into his forehead, closing his eyes.
“Yes, I’m sorry. Is it that hard to believe?”
“Yeah, it is, King Steve,” you scoffed, before you let your thoughts slip into your words. You switch your footing, voice quieting ever so slightly when you ask, “What happened to your face?”
He paused.
“Byers,” Steve replied embarrassed, not even looking at you as your eyes widen.
“Really?” You sound surprised, and you are. The boy who’s been the nicest to you, one of your best friends ever since you’d gotten to town. Your babysitting buddy. The boy who’s brother was missing.
“Johnathan did that?” You ask. When he nods, you hum. “You deserved it.”
“I know.”
Humming, you look at Steve for a second, checking out his bloodied face and red knuckles. Next to his foot is the sponge he was using, it’s turning red and it looks like it’s decomposing from overuse. It makes you clear your throat when you catch his eyes again.
Quietly, almost whispering, you ask, “Do you love her?” You gulp, specifying, “Nancy?”
He sighed, and he looked at you for a good minute, clearly contemplating. Truth be told, he didn’t know. She was… different from his other girlfriend.
Steve would be lying to himself if he said that he didn’t like you. He knew he did, since last year and you walked in wearing a pretty little sundress and gave him attitude when he offered to be your prince charming and open your locker. Maybe he liked Nancy a lot, but he didn’t know if you could love someone and stare at their best friend when their back was turned.
He swallowed, shrugging. “I don’t know.”
You don’t like him. You don’t like him. You don’t like him.
Steve’s word make you nod to yourself, ignoring the relief you feel that he’s not in love with her for Nancy’s sake. Clearly, Steve was a shitty teenage boy, and even worse boyfriend, but you believed in change.
“You really want to make things right?” you question, still trying to keep your guard up despite how you feel them crashing down around you. Goddammit, you hate Steve Harrington.
“Yes,” he groaned, meaningfully.
In your head, you were screaming. Blood curdling, a homicide victim type of screaming, and it’s so loud, so so freaking loud that you couldn’t hear your own thoughts. Maybe, that’s why you make a dumb decision.
You shrug, already turning around to start walking. “Okay, then. Let’s go.”
“Wait, what? Where?”
“To go see Nancy,” you scoffed, as if it was common knowledge. Impatiently, you said, “Come on, I don’t want to be seen with you.”
You trudged forward, once white sneakers thumping against the sidewalk. Behind you, you can hear Steve jog forward, eager to catch up with you.
It doesn’t take long, but the moment he’s beside you, words spill from his lips, quickly. “I— I have my car.”
Pausing in your step, you begrudgingly looked at Steve, quite relieved that you don’t have to walk all the way to Jonathan’s house. “Okay. Where?”
“Over here,” Steve says, almost out of breath as he points to his car. You head towards it without a second thought, harshly pulling on his passenger car door and glaring at him when it doesn’t open.
Steve looks at you strangely, kinda of afraid of you, and he puts his key in before opening the door for you. You don’t look at him, not even when he gets inside the driver seat and starts the car, too busy staring out the window.
“Do you, um, want any music?” Steve stutters, looking at you hesitantly. You roll your eyes.
“You not talking is enough for me,” you smile, sarcastically.
“Oh,” Steve deadpans, biting his lips at he turns away from you, ready to drive.
Great, now you feel bad. You offer, “What do you have?”
“Yeah— yeah, I have Beat It, some AC/DC, Uptown Girl—
“Uptown Girl, please,” you cut him off.  Your casual manners make Steve blush. You don’t even notice that you said it, and it reminds Steve how good you are. You were solid good.
A good girl.
A nice girl.
And one who wants nothing to do with him.
Go figure.
Steve realizes how fucked up his mind is as his knuckles turn white on the stirring wheel. He starts to drive, listening to you hum while starring out the window, sometimes cutting yourself off to tell him directions to Jonathan’s house.
When he asked why there, you said that he had to apologize to Jonathan first. He listens to you for reasons he could not comprehend, because he found himself trusting you despite how much you must hate because he knows you.
In the hallways, he’d watched you tell freshmen directions, laugh on your way to class, help kids who would drop things. You’d barely notice the boys that trailed after you that you thought were only friends, and he’d watch you scold them whenever they were mean to some freak, or nerd, or geek, in the halls.
You were nice. The nicest girl at that damn school, and unbeknownst to you, The Queen Of Hawkins High.
He can’t keep his eyes off you, and he’s never felt guiltier. He let his friend call his girlfriend a slut while he was yearning to kiss her best friend on the way to apologize to her. There was something wrong with him. Steve shook his head, letting his eyes part from you and focus on the road.
The drive was slow, but the moment the car parked in the Byers’ driveway, you were quick to usher Steve out.
“Go,” you wave.
“What?” Steve’s heart races. “Right— right now?”
“When else?” you blink.
“Shouldn’t we rehearse something?”
You sigh, holding back a much needed eye roll. A fake smile props on your lips. “‘Jonathan, I’m sorry for fighting you in the middle of the street. That one’s on me,’” you say. “‘Oh, and I feel bad for smashing your camera to little bits. How about I buy you a new one with my daddy’s money?’” You drop your smile. “That good?”
“The camera wasn’t my fault,” he justified.
“I know, I was there. Still, that doesn’t make what you did right, so get out of the car and apologize,” you punctuated.
Steve mouth gaped. Then, he begrudgingly unbuckles his seat belt and grumbles under his breath, stepping out the vehicle. He slams the car door shut.
You snorted a laugh, sinking into Steve’s comfy car seats.
From where your sat, you have a clear viewing of the show. You’re not sure whether or not Jonathan will forgive him. Apart of you hopes he doesn’t. You wouldn’t be surprised if he did.
What did surprise you was watching Steve, under the warm yellow glow from the Byers house lights, pound on the door and then eventually force his way in.
Hastily, you trailed after him, leaves crunching under your quick feet.
“Steve!” you called once in the door way. “This wasn’t what we talked about…”
The words died in your throat as your eyes scattered across the room, the sight of Jonathan, a shit ton of weapons his living room table and Nancy with a gun pointed at Steve’s face had you had you bewildered.
“You two need to leave now!” Jonathan said, but you were more focused on Nancy’s count down, gun still pointed at Steve.
Before you could think, you were shoving yourself in between Steve, Jonathan, and the gun, hand raised in defense. The mass of Christmas lights around you flickered briskly with your final shout, “What is going on?”
Few words between Nancy and Jonathan end with Steve Harrington, grabbing your wrist and dragging you down the hall into a bedroom as a venus-flytrap looking bear rips apart the ceiling.
“What the hell was that,” Steve yelled along with a variety of curses.
“Shut up!” Nancy and Jonathan shouted, synchronized.
You and Steve shared a feared look.
Pounds and gurgles erupt from the other side of the door until they suddenly stopped. In the silence, Nancy and Jonathan exit the room, Steve and you right behind them.
“Are you going to tell us what that was?” you rasped desperately.
Nancy’s reply was short. “A demogorgon.”
You recognized that name. “Like—,” you brows pinched together. “From DnD?”
“That’s what the boys said.”
“The boys,” you repeated. “Like Dustin, Lucas, and Mike? They know about this?”
“Look, Y/N, I’m sorry but we don’t have time for the questions. It’s going to come back, and you two,” she gestures to you and Steve, “need to leave. Right now.”
Breathing heavy, and with the shake of your head, you said, “No.”
“Yes, go,” Nancy said, stepping closer. You were the same height, she couldn’t intimidate you, not even with a gun in her hand. You weren’t going to leave, especially because of the newfound fear of that thing going after your brother.
“Y/N,” Steve tried, eager for the door.
“No, you go,” you said to Steve then turned to Nancy, “I’m staying so either let me help kill it or I’ll stand here and be bait.”
“Fine,” Nancy said.
Jonathan threw you a lighter. “Throw this into the carpet when it’s here.”
Steve felt pathetic watching the three of you. He didn’t want to leave and be a coward, but he didn’t want to die either. One thought over powered the other and he sprinted to his car, but seeing rapid flickering lights, he forced himself back inside.
After swinging a crowbar at the demogorgon and watching it swallow it whole, you were sure you were going to die. You fell back, squeaking in despair as you did so. The demogorgon’s mouth widen, and you may have gotten a little teary eyed at the sight of Jonathan and Nancy on the floor, looking helpless as well.
But to your shock, Steve Harrington jumped in front of you, swinging a bat like he hadn’t quit baseball in seventh grade.
What happened next was blur, but you remember Steve Harrington forcing you to your feet and the sight of a demogorgon enveloped in flames.
With shallow breaths, you sat on the wooden porch in front of the Byers’ house, illuminated by a singular warm lantern, recollecting the previous events. Mind racing, you hardly notice the body next to yours.
Well, until, and hand landed on your shoulder. It’s large, much bigger than your own. Your eyes traced the arm up to its owner, seeing a bloody, concerned face staring back at you.
“You okay?” Steve asked, and your heart swelled the slightest bit at his worry. He had just almost killed himself and he was worried about you.
Your eyebrows twitched, the undying desire to hate him still present. “Yeah,” you choked, “I’m fine.”
Steve nodded. He retracted the hand off your shoulder slowly, which you were grateful for. Nancy and Johnathan’s dull chatter filled the void, the four of you too nerved to fully close the front door.
Clearing your throat, you said, not looking at him. “Thank you for — um — saving my life.”
When Steve spoke, you turned to him. “Anybody would’ve done the same.”
“No they wouldn’t have,” you said, entire body angling towards him. You kept your hands in your lap, tediously explaining, “They would’ve ran for the hills, like you should’ve, but you didn’t. So thanks. I owe you one.”
“Don’t mention it,” he griped, but you shook your head with a scoff, readjusting yourself to look straight forward. You went silent again. Not far from you, you can hear the engine of a car, smell the toxic carbon monoxide polluting the air.
Steve Harrington saved your life. King Steve Harrington saved your life.
Laughing to yourself, you eyed Steve carefully. “I never would’ve taken you for a hero, Harrington.”
“Guess you were wrong,” Steve chuckled. His eyes shone particularly bright in the moonlight.
“Mhm,” you hummed, looking to your lap, “maybe about a lot of things too.”
You hadn’t known why you said that. Steve’s lips parted at your words, a dumbfounded look forming on his face.
“Y/N!”
Immediately, your head whipped to the noise. Your eyes widened with recognition to the voice. “Dustin!” you shouted, voice echoing off the trees in question.
A car pulled up, and in the back windows you could see three smiling faces in the window.
Smiling. They’re okay, you told yourself. And free to yell.
“You boys are so lucky.” The words came out forced, a quiver in your voice at the pure relief you feel, rushing to the boys off the porch and watching the three of them exit the car safely. “You could’ve gotten yourselves killed,” you snapped. “Why didn’t you told me?”
Only after you spoke did you notice their red rimmed eyes.
Your lips twitched into a frown. Swallowing back your own tears, you pulled Dustin, Lucas, and Mike into a hug. “I’m so glad you all are okay.”
Vaguely, blue and red flashing lights pull up onto the driveway of the Byers’ house. Police step out their car with questioning looks. It’s not long before one offers to take you and your brother home.
Glancing behind you, Steve Harrington’s eyes found yours swiftly, as if they had been trained to you this entire time. Hesitantly, you raised your hand, not very high, but just visibly for him to see. You gave Steve a small wave.
He smiled at you, and you were sure that it hurt.

pairing: steve harrington x fem!reader (henderson!reader)
WARNINGS: swearing, brief mentions of sex
note: i just did some quick headcanons for this but if you’d like to see a longer fic of steve with a henderson!reader let me know !! these are my absolute favorites to write :)
The day Dustin finds out you and Steve are dating is arguably the best day of his life.
“Oh my god I knew it! I can’t believe you two shitheads actually kept this from me! This is the best day of my entire life.”
From then on, Dustin insists on coming with you to see Steve at least once a week (sometimes more).
Steve loves Dustin so he really doesn’t mind at all for Dustin to tag along on a few date nights.
You and Steve babysit Dustin together !! Although Dustin prefers the term “hanging out” inside of babysitting.
Steve always brings two movies with him from Family Video on these nights. He brings one for the two of you to watch with Dustin (usually a comedy or an action movie) and then other for the two of you to watch after Dustin goes to bed.
“Okay, I’m going to bed. I better not hear any weird noises. We all like to use that couch, you know.” “Dustin!”
Your mom loves Steve. She invites him to dinner twice a week.
You would never tell either of them, but you’re secretly really thankful that Steve and Dustin are such good friends. You don’t think you’d ever be able to date someone who didn’t like your brother.
“Y/N, it’s my turn to hang out with Steve!” “He’s literally my boyfriend, Dustin.” “I don’t care, I knew him first.”
Dustin is your biggest supporter. Between Dustin and Robin, you don’t think you could ever break up with Steve. It would break their hearts.
Dustin begs to teach you and Steve how to play DnD. You guys eventually cave, but it only lasts for a couple days because you are truly so awful at it.
Steve sneaks in your window some nights, which Dustin thinks is hilarious.
“Dude, use the front door?” “No, it’s more romantic this way.”
Steve gives Dustin girl advice and Dustin really tries to follow it. He wants his relationship with Suzie to be just like your relationship with Steve.
Dustin looks up to both of you so much. He really thinks that you’re the coolest people in the world.

(slight) steve harrington x henderson! reader
warnings: s4 spoilers! violence, the upside down (usual stranger things shit), angst, mentions of billy :"(((
summary: six months after the events of starcourt mall, you can't help but feel more distant from your friends than ever causing your brother to take some much need action.
a/n: this may be shitty since its my first stranger things drabble in literal YEARS (i fact checked that, i haven't written properly since 2019). but anywhore i hope this is at least decent, its short and sweet but it’ll do the job.
Guilt was a funny emotion.
In all honesty, you had nothing to feel guilty about. You were safe, your brother and his friends were safe and you all had saved the people of your town from horrors that would terrify them beyond belief.
But you had also lost a lot in the process.
Chief Hopper was presumed dead, Eleven had lost her powers which you relied on to keep you safe, and on top of everything Billy Hargrove had also lost his life to save El from the Mind Flayer.
You weren’t quite sure why Billy’s death had affected you so much. In fact, you were certain that you should be crying over Hopper more than Hargrove since you never quite got along with the teenage heartthrob - which is why you ruled the feeling down to guilt.
Guilty that he sacrificed himself while you just watched. Guilty that you never took the time to get to know him under all his anger - to show him that he could have real friends. Guilty that the Mind Flayer got to him before he could even begin to fit into the world of Hawkins.
You hadn’t noticed the toll feeling that way had on you, not like your brother and your friends could see. Which is why you were currently trying to ignore them standing in the hallway to your bedroom, whispering about you to each other while you were curled up in your bed under a mountain of blankets.
“How long has she been like this?”
“In her bed or in a zombie-like-state? Because she hasn’t left her bed in a week and she’s actually starting to smell like a zombie.” Dustin’s familiar voice filled your room.
A familiar voice spoke up next, it was warm and full of concern. “Should we try to talk to her?” Steve Harrington.
Rolling your eyes, you heard Dustin begin to argue with him about how you weren’t actually the un-dead and would talk to him - describing in vivid detail about how stupid that question was. Heaving a sigh, you slowly lifted yourself up in your bed, the blanket falling from around your head to your legs as you caught sight of Steve and the group of kids.
Lucas was the first to notice your movements, slapping Dustin on his shoulder rapidly causing your brother to let out a loud “dude!” Before he also caught sight of you.
“Y/N!” He all but screamed, coughing to soften his tone as he rushed into your room. The others all stumbling in after him. “Steve was just saying that he would let us rent any movie from his work, free of charge-”
Dustin was cut off by Steve frowning as he quickly shook his head and was about to say no - only for him to stop himself when he noticed the looks the group was sending him.
“Right, yeah sure - any movie you want,” Steve conceded. “Did you want to join?”
A brief smile graced your lips at the exchange, so familiar it almost felt unnatural. Rubbing your hands over your face a couple of times, you simply shrugged in response which caused Dustin to erupt into ideas.
“I will let you choose every movie we watch for the next month, I’ll even let you watch Sixteen Candles every day if you want!”
Clicking your tongue against your teeth, you took in the hopeful faces of the group around you. Dustin who was eagerly bouncing on the balls of his feet, Mike who was fiddling with your stuffed toys while he watched the scene unfold, Lucas who just seemed happy to be included, and Steve who was awkwardly scratching his head as he smiled at you.
“Fine,” you reluctantly agreed. “But only if you also buy me complimentary fries and a shake.”
“Yes!” Dustin shouted, fist bumping Steve. “Anything you want. Right Steve, you’ll buy her anything she wants?”
“Me?” Steve’s eyes slightly widened. “Why me?”
“Because, you’re the only one with a job.” Dustin stated as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. “Plus collectively we all have like twelve cents.”
Steve shook his head at your younger brother, before he began ushering everyone out of your room so you could get ready - promising Dustin that he would buy you anything you wanted.
“Harrington,” you stopped him just before he shut your bedroom door. Steve tilted his head in question. “I promise not to run you dry.”
He chuckled. “Thanks Henderson. I’m glad to have you back.”

Tumblr media
It had been eight months. Eight long grueling exhausting mouths. Eight months ago the mysterious fire at Starcourt occurred, but you knew the truth. Hell you were there and so was your best friend Cecilia. While you had lived she had died. It was a brutal and painful death but in her last moments she had let you know that it was worth it. That she didn’t regret saving you, your little brother, and all your friends. You weren’t the only one that had lost a loved one. Max had lost Billy, Eleven and Joyce had lost Hopper. Only three of you had the unfortunate experience of watching a loved one die.
The experience had brought Max and you closer. While you were a couple years older than her you both felt the survivors guilt of living while Billy and Cecilia had died. You both also stuck together at school, even though she was a freshman and you were a senior. It brought you both peace to have someone as deeply affected and shared trauma to lean on. While Max took to distancing from everyone but you, you had become more quiet, anxious and reserved. Only speaking to your little brother Dustin, his girlfriend Suzie, Lucas, Mike, Max, Nancy, Robin, and Steve. Granted Steve, Dustin, Suzie, and Max were the two that heard the most words out of you.
In fact if it wasn’t for your friends you would have given up. However you just couldn’t bring yourself to leave them, they needed you just as much as you needed them. Dustin was also your light and you had vowed when you first met and held him that you would always be there for him, that you would always protect and love him. With everything that had happened and continues to happen you couldn’t leave him and you wouldn’t, unless you were protecting him like Cecilia had done for you.
While Dustin and his friends were little siblings to you, Nancy and Robin were your friends, your best friends besides Cecilia who even in death was still you bestest friend who you spoke to like she was still present. Nancy had been your friend from childhood, you had met her after Cecilia but you both became close especially since your brothers had become best friends. Cecilia was indifferent towards Nancy just as Barb was indifferent to you. Only you and Nancy had liked hanging out and usually would when Dustin and his party hung out. As for Robin you met her and bonded with her when you would come to visit Steve at Scoops Ahoy. You both had bonded exceptionally well, and Cecilia liked hanging out with Robin. In fact you would carpool Cecilia, Dustin and his party if they wanted the ride, to the mall where y’all would split up after that. Mostly Cecilia and you would hangout at Scoops Ahoy and have a great time with Steve and Robin until they got off.
Steve Harrington was both your friend and boyfriend. You had always had a little crush on him, but when he was with Nancy you were happy for them both and respected them. You weren’t gonna wreck a relationship just because you wanted the guy or girl. Plus you were friends with Nancy and she was genuinely happy for the first part. It was after she had lost her best friend Barb their relationship went downhill. You had been there for both of them, had given them advice and reassured them both about the situation. You had seen Nancy move on and grew more in love with Steve. Especially when he fought Billy, and even more so when he helped Dustin and gave him advice. Your heart had soared and you saw the king Harrington in a new and brighter light.
It was the death of Cecilia that had taken apart of your soul. Even with your family and loved ones you couldn’t help the empty feeling that suffocated and ate away at you. It had been your fault. If Cecilia knew what she was walking into, if she knew all the stuff you did and not just the half rushed thrown together summary maybe she would have lived. She had died protecting you from being impaled by the Mind Flare. You had helplessly watched as your friend Cecilia, had taken the blow meant for you. You had held her as she died, and she had asked and pleaded with her final breathes for you to live, thrive, and tell her about all your adventures when you both met again.
It was because of her death, and the guilt that suffocated you that Vecna was able to secure a hold over you. It was about two days after Max had started having nightmares and nosebleeds that you were plagued by them. Dustin being the only one to help you get a decent amount of sleep or Steve if you had stayed over at his place or he yours. When your friends had put together the symptoms of being affected by Vecna, you and Max knew y’all were screwed. You both had to reluctantly come to terms with the idea. Yes you had wanted to die, but you also wanted to live. You needed to live, for your friends, for Dustin, for Steve, for Cecilia, and for yourself. But everyone so far that had been cursed didn’t survive. So Max and yourself took precautions and wrote letters to everyone you loved and cared for.
However hope had struck when Nancy and Robin figured out music could bring a victim back to reality and loosen the hold on Vecna. Max was the one who the theory was tested on, simply due to the fact she was afflicted earlier than yourself. Luckily Lucas and yourself had known her favorite song and were able to help her. The mind rendering terror in the moments that you had to wait to see if it worked had seemed to make you age fifty years. Luckily she had survived and no one could have been happier, but the waiting game started again, when would Vecna come for you?
They had all asked you what your favorite song was but you simply didn’t know. You had too many but at the same time you didn’t have any. This had caused a panic and everyone, mostly Dustin, had been forcing you to listen to songs around the clock. It was both annoying and wholesome. You knew they cared but they were over doing it. Even as going as far to create shifts so someone was always watching you and Max. Mostly the boys failed their watches especially at night but no one could be mad. It was tiresome and incredibly frustrating and heart wrenching.
You were cursed. Not just by Vecna but by some higher power because when Vecna had come for you it had been a terrible time, almost like he knew it. Vecna had metaphorically wrapped his tentacles around you entrapping you in a hallucination of the upside down and his home.
Steve had led the group to Skull Rock after Dustin and his compass failed to due the job. It was there that the group rekindled while Dustin and you spoke. Collectively you both had come to the conclusion that the compass was leading towards another gate and it was Dustin that had decided to announce this to the group.
However, as you went to celebrate this small win with your friends the surrounding familiar area disappeared and you were back in Starcourt. Not just any Starcourt the upside down version of the mall. Your breathing hitched in paralyzing fear as you frantically swirled around. Your hazel eyes blown wide as your hands began to shake. Anywhere but here you begged and pleaded inside you mind.
“You can’t run away from this. It’s your fault.” It was when the dark guttural voice spoke taunting you that a shattered sob had left your trembling lips. Your head shaking as implausible pleas left your lips. It was when Cecilia’s decomposed slimy body appeared out of no where when a sob had racked through your body sending you tumbling against the fountain wall. Your hands weakly placed in front of you as you pleaded for her to go away, as you pleaded for none of this to be real even if it felt so bone shattering real.
Max was the first to notice your perturbation and was quick to alert the others. Her voice held a desperate tone as she alerted everyone. Dustin was the first to make it to your side with Max, who was then followed by Steve and everyone else. Dustin was quick to put his hands on your shoulders and gently call to you. Only to inhale sharply as his siblings once bright hazel eyes were gone and replaced by the whites of your eyes. Dustin looked towards Steve almost immediately and begged the older male to help his sibling.
Dustin adored and looked up to you. He thought you were the coolest and most badass person there was. Of course he had seen you at your lowest a few times but you were always there for him and his party. You would always play D&D with the party whenever they needed an extra person, and you didn’t just play, you brought life into whatever role you were given. You would also bake snacks and bring them to the party when they had long campaigns. You would drive him and his friends around, no questions asked. You had helped Steve fight Billy that night he came for Max. You had been through all the upside down stuff with him and always listened to his ideas. He felt heard and seen with you, he felt safe and loved, and most importantly he felt like a kid when you were near. Dustin wouldn’t be able to make it without you. Out of everyone you were the first to always believe in him, to always listen and be there for him. You were the first person to believe in Suzie without even having talked to the young girl. While his friends doubted him, you believed him with your whole heart. And now, Dustin had to believe with his whole heart that you would come back to him.
Steve had ultimately lost his cool and panicked. The person who he loved, who he adored and cared for was currently being cursed by a being that none of them could see or stop at the moment. Out of everything you both had been through Steve felt truly weak and worried. There was no physical being he could beat up or fight, in fact there was nothing he could really do. You had to fight, and you had to face Vecna alone. While he just stood doing nothing. His heart clenched when Dustin had looked at him with wide eyes and a defeated and broken look.
Without thinking he began to speak to you, hoping his voice would reach you. It was when you had started to levitate that Steve knew just talking wasn’t enough and so he looked at Dustin before looking back at you. Even though his voice was scratchy and rough with anxiety and terror he hoped the song Dustin, you, and himself created would reach and bring you back to them.
It was the first glance. The glance I knew that I had fallen in love with you.
It was like a whisper. In your panicked state and with Vecna taunting you it was hard to hear. But you knew the words that you were able to pinpoint. It was the song Dustin, Steve and you had created one night a few months back during a date night that Dustin had so proudly crashed. A weak but hopeful smile grew on your lips.
It was the first time I held you. The hold tethering me to earth.
Dustin had quickly picked up on what Steve was doing and wasted no time in joining his brother figure. If music is what saved someone from the curse then this song that you had created with Steve and himself had to save you. Tears prickled his eyes as your body seemed to hover above them. Dustin wiped them away as Lucas and Max laid there hands on his shoulders. They didn’t know the words but they were there for their friends. In fact Max even started humming a melody which Lucas quickly joined in humming. Robin had moved towards Steve and interwove their hands as she also picked up humming. Nancy and Eddie also joined in, both of them panicked, as Eddie’s mind flooded with flashbacks of Chrissy but he did his best to hold it together.
It was your voice. The voice that gave me hope.
By the third verse you were able to hear both Steve and your little brother along with soft humming. Your friends were trying to get you back. They were doing the best they could to make the fight between Vecna and yourself easier. Closing your eyes you focused on Dustin’s and Steve’s voices while you put on a brave front.
Oh darling you are my light, my sun to the moon. The ocean to my sand. The rain to my clouds. And the lightning to my thunder.
The deep voice spoke as Cecilia disintegrated and their voices got louder. “They can’t save you. And you can’t save yourself isn’t that why your in this predicament?” Vecna was right but he was also incredibly wrong. Your friends couldn’t physically save you but they could offer you the tool that would help save you. Eight months ago you hadn’t been able to save yourself but people change and you were going to save yourself this time. Vecna was going to fail because he had underestimated you and that was to be his downfall.
If I could glance into your eyes for the rest of eternity than my dove I’d be set for life.
At the entrance of the upside down mall you were able to see yourself levitating and your friends and family surrounding you trying to bring you back. It was Dustin’s and Steve’s face that both broke and built you up. Turning to face Vecna you glared at him before joining your family in singing. Your eyes cold with hate and disgust for the being before you.
If I could hold you forever in my arms. Then my dove I’d be set forever.
A flinch rang through you as Vecna laughed. “You won’t be escaping me today and if you do next time I won’t be merciful. You’ll watch all the ones you love die a painful death before you die.” You halted and froze but as their voices reached and surround you it was like a shield had formed around you. A glare settled onto your face as you stared at the being. “I will kill you. I will watch you die and feel nothing but joy as myself and friends will be free from your torture.” With those swift, cold, calculating, but honest words you turned and ran.
I need you like a human needs air, like fire needs oxygen, like a pool needs water.
As you turned and booked it to the entrance of Starcourt it seemed like it was much farther away than it truly was. As you ran you focused on Dustin and Steve’s faces. Memories clouding your mind and only making your motivation stronger to get back to them.
Memories of dressing up for Dustin and his party for a D&D campaign. Dressing up and going trick or treating with them. Making them lunch, dinner, and snacks for overly long campaigns. Memories of Dustin and yourself playing board games, of laughing at breakfast until the drinks you both were drinking came spewing out of your noses. Staying up late reading comics together. Memories of Lucas and yourself doing target practice with the slingshot, baking a forgive me cake for Max, laughing together at a joke Dustin had said. Memories of Max and yourself venting to one another, crying and laughing about life, Max teaching you how to skateboard, doing each other’s hair.
You are my raft. My air. My hopes and dreams. You are my best friend.
You had blinked tears filling your eyes as you were thrown to the side as a piece of debris had landed next to you. Glancing behind you Vecna stared you down. On pure adrenaline and hope of seeing your family and friends again you pushed yourself up and started running again. Dodging debris as more memories began driving you even harder.
Memories of Nancy and yourself spying on the boys, of reading to one another, of doing each other’s hair, of sleepovers, and cooking meals for the boys. Memories of Robin and yourself eating ice cream, laughing at Steve, of Robin coming out to you and you to her, of watching corny movies together. Memories of Steve and yourself watching movies, babysitting the kids, watching Steve and Dustin, cuddles and kisses, driving around town, swimming in lovers lake, having a picnic at Skull Rock, falling asleep together, fighting Billy together, protecting the kids together. It make your heart swell reliving your favorite memories, and it only pushed you harder.
And my dove I need you more than ever. Please heed my words and treasure them. For I love you. Yes I love you.
Your hazel eyes widen as your hand reached out and touched the seemingly fabric tear of reality. Your hand had effortlessly went through and was followed by a bright golden light. The last words of the song filled your ears like the boys were feet away from you, and they were. As quickly as you had open you eyes you shut them with a gasp falling to the ground. You landed in a heap to exhausted to pick yourself up. You had began to hyperventilate because of the overwhelming emotions. Steve and Dustin were quick to grab you and hold you close. Both speaking to you. Dustin in an worried and anxious tone while Steve’s was a calm and soothing tone.
You had instinctively reach out and gripped their arms wanting to anchor yourself to this world. As Dustin’s words of confusion but excitement reached your ears, “How did that work? I mean I hoped it would work but-“ A breathless laugh left you as you caressed his face speaking softly and breathlessly, “It’s yours and Steve’s voice. It’s music to my ears. It’s my favorite music.”
Dustin gave a toothy smile feeling proud of himself, as much as his sibling was his anchor he was theirs too. Leaning back on his knees he stared happily at Steve and his sibling and the love that flowed between them.
Steve pulled you into a tight embrace as he buried his head in your neck breathing in your scent and feeling the rise and fall of you chest. The sound of your breath never offering him more peace than in that moment. Pulling back he caressed your cheek with so much love. “I thought I was gonna lose you. Don’t ever scare me like that again.”
You smiled gently at him, as you held his cheeks. Before pulling him into a soft and tender kiss. “Next time Vecna curses me, I’ll make sure to tell him he can’t keep me because my boyfriend doesn’t support it.” A light smile graced your lips as a smile fought its way on Steve’s beautiful face. “You’re crazy y/n. My type of crazy.” You both leaned your foreheads against one another and went in for another kiss of pure bliss.

February 1985
You were at yet another stupid high school party. You don't even really remember how your friends convinced you to come. Parties aren't really your scene. You'd rather just hang out at one of your friends houses and watch a movie or something.
All of your friends were drunk. A few of them had already started puking. They would all feel like hell in the morning. That was your only comfort as you waded your way through the drunk, sweaty bodies to find a corner to wait it out in.
When you finally found your hiding place, you relaxed for the first time that night. You saw someone lean against the wall next to you, but you didn't pay much attention to them. Wall flowers prefer it if you ignore them completely, so that's exactly what you did. You didn't even spare your companion a glance.
--------
Steve had seen you walk into the room, automatically locking his eyes onto your figure. He hadn't seen you around here before. You must be one of the quiet ones, the ones you don't even notice in classes. He knew you had to be a senior, or maybe he just hoped you were.
One of Steve's most absolute rules was he didn't date younger. He didn't really date in general, so it would probably be more accurate to say he didn't fuck younger girls. So, if you were anything other than a senior, you were off limits.
He decided to take a swing at it, approaching you as you leaned against one of the walls in the corner of the room. You didn't even look up as he leaned back against the wall, barely a foot away from you. His face automatically turned up into the signature Steve Harrington smirk.
"Hey." You didn't even blink.
"Helloooo??" He waved his hand in front of your face, your attention finally directing itself towards him.
"Hi?" You seemed confused. He assumed it was because he was the Steve Harrington. You should feel honored he chose to talk to you.
"Hey there. I'm Steve, but your probably already knew that." You raised your eyebrow at him, seeming uninterested in his most efficient line.
"Umm... no? I have no idea who you are, apart from the fact that your name is Steve Harrington." Steve was shocked to say the least. Everyone knew him. No matter how old you were, you should know who he is.
"Well, now you know. It's seems pretty unfair that you know my name and I don't know yours." You rolled your eyes. Wait. You rolled your eyes?? What the fuck was happening here?
"I'm Y/N. That's all you need to know right at this minute. Oh, and that I'm not interested." Shock settled even deeper into Steve's features as you redirected your attention back to your phone. Who did this girl think she was?
"I can make you interested." At this point, he was desperate. He's never had to try this hard. His pride had never taken this hard of a hit.
"You won't, I promise. I'm leaving now. If you follow me, I won't hesitate to kick you in the balls." With that, you walked away. Steve's eyes didn't move from your previous spot. He sat there for nearly five minutes, gaining his composure before dragging himself back to the dance floor.
--------
"Y/N, did I hear something about you hanging out with Steve Harrington at the party last night??" Robin Buckley, your best friend, asked as soon as you walked through the doors.
You and Robin had become best friends as soon as you started at Hawkins High, her having become your own personal tour guide and people analyzer. Since she was a sophomore at the time, she already knew the ins and outs of the school, along with the people in it.
"Oh, the douchebag? Yeah, sadly. He randomly walked up to me and tried to get in my pants. It's not big deal. I pretty much told him to fuck off and went on my way." Robin's pupils nearly double in size, jaw dropping to the floor.
"Uh, yes it is a big deal! Steve Harrington is like the schools fuck boy king. He's probably slept with every girl in this place." You rolled your eyes at robin, unimpressed by the boys 'accomplishments'.
"Except for you, dingus. He doesn't stand a chance." You both practically died laughing at that one, because it's true.
Robin had came out to you a few months after the two of you became friends. You had been super supportive, probably the most supportive of anyone she's told so far. Well you are the only one she's told, but still.
"Still, try not to piss him off too much. Not only is he 'King Steve', but we're also gonna be working together at Scoops this summer. I personally don't wanna have to deal with a grumpy Steve." Robin loved jokingly making fun of Steve, happy to knock his ego down a few notches.
"Well, I won't be coming to visit you at work this summer, that's for sure." You both started laughing again. You both headed towards your only shared class, Mrs. Click's.
--------
June 1985
You avoided Steve the rest of the semester, happy that summer was finally here. You'd never have to see him again, hopefully. You feared that his arrogance could be contagious.
As you were headed home from school, you saw your brother Dustin walk into the house. You both had lived pretty separate lives throughout the school year, not really seeing all that much of each other.
When you finally made it in the house, you heard Dustin talking to his friends about the camp he was headed to this month. They were all upset he was leaving, but managed to be happy for him.
You went into Dustin's room to catch up on things, hoping to use the excuse that you wanted to help him pack. When he noticed you, he said bye to his friends and threw his radio onto his bed.
"Hey Dusty, what's up?" You had always called him Dusty, ever since you were little.
"Just getting ready for camp. How about you?" You and Dustin had always been pretty chill, never really arguing like other brothers and sisters. You respected each others space. You talked when you felt like it, ignored each other when you didn't. It was so much simpler than arguing all the time like the Wheeler siblings do.
"I wanted to see if you needed any help. And, we've not really talked all that much the past couple of months. I kinda missed hearing about your day." Dustin smiled, happy to finally get a chance to talk to his sister. He had missed you a lot over the past couple of months as well. So, you both played catch-up until Dustin had to leave.
--------
August 1985
Not much happened the few weeks following the end of summer. You hung out with Robin, did some summer work for school, and caught up on some well-needed sleep.
But when the time had rolled around, you had helped to deal with the latest visitor from the Upside Down, the Mindflayer. You weren't really that scared of them anymore. You had become numb to the fear around the second time of dealing with them.
But now, it was time to start your junior year. A part of you couldn't be more excited, while the other part dreaded it. Junior year meant Robin was leaving soon.
Sure she wouldn't be far, just right down the road working at whatever her job may be at the time. But, not seeing her everyday at school would be hard. She was your rock. You didn't know what to do without her.
Over the summer, she had started working at Scoops Ahoy with none other than Steve Harrington. For the first month, you refused to visit her at work and insisted on hanging out later in the day. However, work exhausted her and left very few days where she still had the energy to hang out.
That's when you started to just visit her at work, deciding that Steve wasn't going to ruin the friendship you had with Robin just by existing.
A few weeks after your first visit, you and him had actually started somewhat of a friendship. Robin was surprised but not nearly as surprised as you were.
You and him had started hanging out one on one. Going to get dinner, stopping at the drive-in, getting slushies, and doing whatever else your hearts desired. And after every hang out, you would call Robin and tell her every little detail.
About three days ago, you had finally accepted the words Robin had practically been preaching to you every day. You were falling for him. And you were falling hard.
--------
March 1986
You, Robin, and Steve had all ended up getting a job at Family Video. Robin had suggested the idea near the beginning of the school year, but you didn't know if you wanted to spend your spring break renting out movies to the people of Hawkins. However, Robin and Steve had found a way to convince you which, you guess, is how you found yourself in this situation.
It was near the end of a long day at work, all three of you were extremely exhausted. Today had been your busiest day so far. You all were near falling asleep in the break room as you began to collect your belongings to head out the door.
Right before you made it out, the phone in the office rang. You let Robin and Steve know that you were gonna be a minute, then picked up the phone.
"Hello, this is Family Video. I'm sorry but we're actually closed right now so-"
"Y/N, please don't hang up." You automatically recognized your friend Eddie Munson's voice on the other end of the line.
"Eds? What's up? Why did you call the store?" Eddie wasn't really big on phone calls. In all honesty, he hated the phone. He had never actually called you. So, him calling you now was an extreme shock.
"Ummm... something happened. I- I was, I was s-selling t-to-"
"Eds, slow down. Take a deep breath. Then, tell me what the fuck is going on." You heard him take a deep breath, then automatically return to hyperventilating. Something was really wrong.
"Ummm... actually can you j-just come m-meet me? B-bring your brother a-and whoever else. S-something really f-freaky happened an-and I'm afraid you w-won't believe me." You were beyond concerned at this point. Honestly, you were terrified for him.
"Uh yeah. I'll bring some people with me. Your uncle's house I'm assuming?"
"No! No, m-meet me at Reefer Rick's." Reefer Rick's? He hasn't been in town for months now. What would Edde be doing there?
"Okay, okay. Reefer Rick's. I'll be there in about thirty minutes. Do you need me to bring anything?" You were trying to keep him calm, hoping to prevent a heart attack which you strongly believed he had a chance of with how scared he seemed to be.
"Uhhh some food wouldn't b-be bad. Maybe some drinks too? Just- just hurry, ok?"
"Okay. I'm coming Eds." As soon as you spoke the words, you slammed the phone down and ran out the door.
--------
"Eds? It's me, Y/N. I brought Steve, Robin, and the kids. Can we come in?"
"Yeah, yeah come in." You slowly entered the shed, careful not to startle Eddie. With how he was right now, you had no idea what even the slightest movement could do to him.
You looked around for him and saw him crouched in the corner, bottles surrounding him on all sides. You crouched down in front of him and reached out your hand. He grabbed it automatically, squeezing it for reassurance.
"Now Eds, you have to tell me what happened. We heard about the reports when we went to pick up the kids. What happened with Chrissy?" Eddie took a deep breath, preparing himself for you to think he's full of shit.
"I...I was selling to her. Sh...she came to me asking for d-drugs. S-something was w-wrong with her but I... I didn't want to be nosy, so I just went to g... get the stuff. Then I... I came back and..." You rubbed your thumb across the side of his hand, attempting to calm him down enough to speak.
"Her body just, like, lifted up into the air and, uh... And she just, like, hung there. In the air. And her bones... Uh, she..." He whimpered. Eddie Munson whimpered.
"Hey, it's okay Eds. Take your time." He took a deep breath, grounding himself in the moment.
"Her bones started to snap. Her eyes, Y/N/N. It... It was like there was something, like, inside her head, pulling. I... I didn't know what to do, so I... I ran away. I left her there." You all stood there, ranging from eyes wide open to jaws so near the floor they looked as if they had unhinged from their sockets.
"You all think I'm crazy, right?" You could hear Eddie's disappointment, pulling yourself out of your thoughts in order to comfort him.
"No, no Eds. We don't think you're crazy. We would never think that." You pulled him into a hug, his arms automatically surrounding your figure and pulling you in as tightly as possible.
Steve looked away from the two, weirded out by how close you were. They shouldn't be like that when they barely knowing each other. I know her better than that and she would never-. Steve cut off his thought, cowering away from what his brain had been implying. That's just wrong. She's only 16 for gods sake. Get it together Harrington!
--------
You, Steve, Robin, Eddie, and Nancy were drifting right on top of what Dustin had dimmed "Watergate". You were all trying to figure out how you were going to find out if this gate really existed, when Steve began to take off his shirt.
"Harrington, what're ya doing?" Eddie was the first to react, the rest of you still trying to process what was happening in front of you.
"I'm gonna go figure out what the hell this thing is. Unless anyone else wants to do it?" Steve looks towards everyone on the boat, seeing that you were too focused on his body to be paying any mind to what he was saying. At least, so he thought.
"Steve, that's crazy! You could get hurt!" You were obviously freaking out. No one else seemed to be reacting to the fact that he could possibly be walking, well swimming technically, right towards death.
Before you or anyone else could say another word, he had jumped in. You quickly lost sight of him in the murky water. Yet, you continued to watch intently as time passed, willing him to come back out. Then he did.
"Guys, there's something really weird down there. It does look like what Dustin was going on about-" Steve's sentence was cut off as something grabbed his ankle, pulling him back down into the lake. You tried and tried to pull him back up, yet failed to do so as he sunk underneath the dark layer of water.
You jumped in not a second later, Nancy following not far behind you. You swam down to the gate, automatically pulling yourself through. Nancy, Robin, and Eddie pulled themselves up not long after.
You looked around for Steve, finally seeing him among the dark clouds. He was surrounded by bat-like creatures. Probably another demogorgon mutant thing that this weird other-world created.
You quickly joined Steve, fighting off the bats to the best of your ability. The other three rushed to help, grabbing anything they could find in order to fight the damn things.
As they all began to flock away, Steve was fighting the last one. He slammed it against the ground. Then, he bit it. Like, he actually bit the thing. You had to admit, it was one of the hottest things you'd ever seen.
You all ran to get cover, automatically assessing your friends. Everyone came out pretty good apart from Steve. He was covered in bites and scratches.
"Steve, stay still!" You ripped off a part of your shirt, wrapping it around his stomach. He grunted at the pain. You almost felt bad for hurting him, but then remembered he was in much more pain before.
Steve couldn't take his eyes off of you. You were expertly wrapping him up as if it was nothing. He had to admit, he was thoroughly shocked you were helping him. No one has ever really cared enough to help him with this type of thing. It was hot to say the least.
"All better!" You got up from your squatting position and ended up eye-to-eye with Steve. You blushed as the rest of your body tensed, unable to do anything but stand there. That was until Steve stepped away slowly, breaking eye contact without a second thought.
You tried to hide your disappointment as he walked away. Eddie threw him his denim jacket, saying something about how it was 'for his decency' as Steve covered up his body.
You all began brainstorming ways to get out of the upside down. The bats obviously weren't going to let you pass easily, so running wasn't an option. Fighting them again also wasn't an option seeing how Steve looked.
"There's guns at my house. If we can get there, we would at least have something to protect ourselves with." You all nodded in agreement, knowing Nancy's idea was your only option. Then came the challenge of actually navigating yourselves there without getting caught by anything.
--------
You had made it to the Wheeler house, just to find none of the guns Nancy had talked about. Instead, she found some old ballet shoes that she said she had gotten rid of years ago. You all were out of ideas, until you heard Steve screaming from the other room.
"Henderson! Henderson, can you hear me!" You all ran downstairs, wanting to figure out what Steve was doing down there. As you all got there. you were even more confused.
"Henderson?! Can you hear me??" You finally realized what he was doing. He was trying to talk to Dustin.
The first time you had been through all of this stuff with the upside down, you had discovered that you could hear people on the other side if you were in the same places on your respective sides. So, since Dustin was in the Wheeler's kitchen, you all were there trying to successfully communicate with him.
As communication began, you all made your way to the bedroom and began communicating through the hanging light. Your fingers began to dance through the glow of the light, fingers brushing over Steve's every few seconds. Each time it happened, your cheeks would quickly heat up and your body would tense. You hated the control he had over you, the control that you couldn't ignore no matter how much you tried to convince yourself that Steve didn't like you in that way.
Steve's fingers brushed yours again, causing him to look at you out of the corner of his eye. The view he was presented with was something out of a Renaissance painting. Your face was painted by the glow from the hanging light, every feature now on display for him to admire. The way your skin glowed from the light, the deepened hue to your eyes, the slight arch of your cupids bow. Not a single detail went unnoticed by Steve in that moment.
When you finally allowed yourself to glance in Steve's direction, you were surprised to see him already looking at you. Your eyes held each others for what felt like hours, yet still wasn't long enough. Steve forced his eyes away from you and instead focused them on the light. His every thought echoed that whatever was going on between the two of you was wrong. It couldn't happen. He wouldn't let it.
--------
Your relayed messages to your brother brought you to Eddie's trailer, attempting to escape through the gate before anything else happened in this wretched place. Robin and Eddie were the first ones through, followed by Nancy not long after. Steve looked at you, silently telling you that it was your turn.
"No Steve, you go. You're already hurt." Steve looked at you with a frustrated glare, showing you just how much he agreed with this new idea you had come up with.
"Y/N, go! If you go now, we can get out of here faster." You relented, knowing any further argument would fall on deaf ears.
You grabbed onto the sheet, beginning to climb up and out of this place. When you finally made it to the other side, you let go in order to fall to the mattress on the ground. Suddenly, everything went black.
--------
"Y/N? Hey, Y/N! Y/N, stay with me! Come on!" Steve's panic was instantaneous as soon as he saw your eyes roll back, knowing the signs all too well.
Everyone else looked through the gate, curious at to what was going on. When they all saw what was happening, complete silence enveloped the room. No one dared to move, even dared to breathe. Max was the first one to speak, confirming everyone's worst fears with one word.
"Vecna."
--------
You slowly got up from where you had landed, eyes slowly adjusting to your surroundings. You were in the school bathroom. The same school bathroom in which Chrissy had her first vision.
You and Chrissy had been really good friends most of your life, some would even say best friends. Her and Eddie were the closest friends you had apart from Robin. You all hung out together pretty often, doing anything and everything together.
You had followed Chrissy into the bathroom, having seen her rush that way after leaving the counselor's office. You knew she took the sessions with the counselor pretty hard and you wanted to be there to help her. When you came in, you saw Chrissy's shoes under one of the stalls.
"Chris? You okay?" No answer. Not a single sound was heard on the other side of the stall door. That worried you.
"Chris! I'm coming in!" You knocked the stall door open, coming face-to-face with Chrissy while she was in one of her visions. Her eyes were rolled back into her head, the rest of her body unmoving.
"Chris! Chrissy Cunningham, if this is some cruel joke..." Suddenly, she zoned back into the moment. Her eyes returning back to their normal places, heart rate increasing rapidly after whatever had just happened.
"Chris, what's going on? Are you okay?" She apparently hadn't noticed you standing there, jumping when her eyes found your figure. She quickly cleared her cheeks of any remaining tears and straightened out her uniform.
"I'm fine Y/N/N, nothing to worry about."
That was the last time you had seen Chrissy. You had originally boiled it down to her just being busy over break, until you had talked with Eddie. Until you had heard the news.
"You couldn't save her, could you Y/N? Poor Chrissy. You don't even know half of what that girl was facing, and yet you still called yourself her friend?! You didn't even know she was dead!!" Vecna's words hurt, but you wouldn't let him know that. You refused to show any weakness in front of him.
"Well, I'm not here to continue to torture you about that. I have a message for someone that I need you to deliver. A message for our dear Eleven..."
--------
"Y/N, Y/N please be okay." Dustin's quiet pleas could barely be heard over Steve's incessant yelling. You had been in this vision for much longer than you should have. They were starting to worry.
They had all seen this plenty of times before. First with Chrissy, then Fred, then Max, then Patrick, and now you. Each one ending seemingly more horrifying than the last, apart from Max. They were able to free her using her favorite song. Which they were all trying to do for you now.
Robin, Eddie, and Nancy had moved to Eddie's room to look for music to play for you. As Robin threw aside another tape that Eddie had lying around, she continued to get more frustrated.
"What are you looking for?" Robin continued her search, checking each and every tape she could find
"Madonna, Blondie, Bowie, Beatles, music! We need music!" Eddie, offense already overtaking his features, picked up one of his Iron Maiden tapes and showed it to Robin.
"THIS IS MUSIC!"
--------
You were suddenly brought into a memory, presumably one of Vecna's. You were in some kind of institution. All of the walls were white, apart from the streaks of blood painting them as far down the hall as you could see. There were doors lining the walls, all of them labeled with a number. You started to get a bad feeling about them. The feeling was confirmed when an all too familiar face came around the corner.
"Eleven?" The girl didn't seem to hear you, continuing her quick movements down the hallway towards a door at the end. You followed a couple of steps behind, needing to know why Eleven was involved in one of Vecna's memories.
As you walked into the room, the first thing you noticed was the bodies. All of the dead children and teens. It seemed as if they had been bleeding out of their eyes and noses, most of the blood having already dried. The one exception was the boy against the wall. A younger man, probably in his late twenties, was using his powers to hold him up. At least, that's what you thought he was doing until the boy fell to the ground lifeless.
You and El had become pretty close over the time you'd known each other. You considered each other sisters. That's why you automatically knew where you were. You were in the place where Dr. Brenner held El and her 'siblings' before she escaped. However, you did not know who this blonde man was.
El began speaking to him, calling him by the name of One. This led you to assume that he was the first of the doctor's creations, the test subject. If this encounter told you anything, he was an experiment gone wrong.
One began telling El about how powerful they would be together, how the restrictions of this place kept them from reaching their full potential. When she asked about the other children, he said something about how they were all terrible to her and deserved what they got. Not even a minute after that revelation, El had thrown him against the wall in the same manner that he had the other children. A few seconds later, his body was sucked into something similar to one of the gates that you had seen so many times before throughout the past few years.
You slowly watched as One was thrown through the upside down, objects of all sorts flying past his body before he could even attempt to recognize what they were. When he finally set foot on the ground, his skin was all but destroyed, any residual marks of One barely hanging on by a thread. It didn't take you long to recognize Vecna. Then, before you could really think it through, your vision one again went dark.
--------
You were dragged into yet another memory, but this time you were in a house. A house you recognized fairly well. The Creel house. However, you had no idea why you were here.
The vision began to zoom in on the oldest Creel sibling, following him through the house. First you saw the spiders. Then the grandfather clock. The ticking was slow, seemingly taking minutes to move a second further in time. Next was the dead animal outside the house, the one Victor Creel had mentioned. As you recall what the man had said, you realized that the young boy was the curse the man had been speaking of. He just didn't know it.
The final part of the vision faded into view, the night the Creel's died. Even though Victor hadn't died, the biggest parts of him had. The mother floated into the air, the same way Vecna's victims always had. Her bones snapped, her eyes went back, and she was dead. The Creel daughter followed not long after. All the while, the young boy sat at the end of the table and watched. He fell to the ground suddenly, obviously not having been attacked in the same way his mother and sister just had.
Victor collected his family, calling the police immediately. The young boy was taken to the hospital. Then, Dr. Brenner came into view. He took the boy as he had all of the other children, marking him as One. The dots had finally connected when you reached the end, pure shock radiating all throughout your body.
The vision faded away, and you were left in the hallway of the institution. You ran as far as you could to escape this nightmare. When you reached the door, it was barricaded by wood planks. You began to remove them, hearing Vecna approaching and calling your name. Just as he got close enough to touch you, you broke through the door and he was already there. You were thrown down into a chair and restrained by vines.
Vecna slowly started to approach you, sickly-slimy skin making wet sounds as he started to walk towards you. He started to speak, fear and anxiety radiating throughout your whole body.
"I want you to tell Eleven... I want you to tell her everything you see. Tell her..." His hand slowly started to approach your face, fingers outstretched.
"NO! NO!" You tried to get out of the chair, fighting against the vines holding you down.
"Tell her... everything."
--------
Your eyes opened, anxiety worsening at the thought that he had just killed you. Your breath came out raggedly, air refusing to enter your lungs. Your legs gave out as you fell to the ground, Steve barely catching you in time.
"Whoa, whoa! It's okay. It's okay. I'm here. It's okay." You started trying to even out your breathing, following each inhale and exhale Steve took. After a few minutes, your breathing had returned to normal. Steve automatically helped you through the gate.
Everyone started freaking out, they all crowded around you and began asking you if you were okay. All the while, your heartbeat pulsating throughout your body kept you from being able to really hear them, much less answer them.
Steve quickly made his way over to help you up, saying something to the group about taking you to his house to rest. You weren't sure that was what he said. You weren't really sure about anything anymore. You were so out of it that you didn't react to Steve carrying you to his car, or him holding your hand the whole ride. You didn't really notice what was happening until he laid you down on the bed.
"Y/N/N, you with me?" Your eyes focused on Steve, suddenly noticing his proximity to you. However, it didn't seem to bother you. You didn't get all anxious and stuttery like you usually did. You were calmer knowing he was there.
"Yeah, I'm with you." You collapsed into Steve as he opened his arms, basking in his warmth.
"Man, I thought I was gonna lose you back there. I was so scared. I can't even begin to imagine how you were feeling." You hummed in acknowledgement, struggling to really piece together words. The shock and fear hadn't really gone away, just faded enough for you to experience a semblance of calm.
"Well, you can't get rid of me that easily." You both laughed weakly, not yet comfortable with the sound you both heard exiting your mouths. After the events of the day, you didn't know if you'd ever really be comfortable with it again.
"Go to sleep, okay? We'll talk more in the morning." You didn't need to be told twice, exhaustion automatically overtaking your body. Sleep had never come so easily.
--------
You woke up the next morning alone, Steve's side of the bed still warm to the touch. You did your morning stretch and got out of the bed. You started to head towards the kitchen, but noticed a note sitting on the table next to your side of the bed.
I left some clothes out for you on top of the dresser. Thought you'd wanna get out of all that nasty stuff. Would've given it to you last night but you were so tired you could barely stand. Breakfast should be done by 10:30 so take your time.
- Steve
Your heart could have quite possibly exploded in that moment. Not only was this one of the sweetest things he could've done, it also felt so excruciatingly domestic. The butterflies took over your body in seconds. You were so in love with this boy that it hurt.
You rushed to the bathroom, showering as thoroughly as you could to get all of the gunk off of you. You decided to just burn the clothes you had been wearing because supernatural gunk stains seemed like they would be a pain to clean. You got dressed pretty quickly and went to Steve's phone to call your mom and let her know you and Dustin were okay.
After you found a way to wrap up things with her, you rushed downstairs after checking the time and realizing it was nearly 10:30. You were starving and happy to accept free food. Steve cooking it and looking hot while doing it, that would just be the cherry on top.
Sadly enough, he had already finished and cleaned up his mess by the time you got downstairs. He didn't acknowledge you at first, very focused on his plate of waffles. The creaking of the chair as you pulled it out finally alerted him that he wasn't alone.
"Hey! How'd you sleep?" The domesticity of the statement had you swooning even harder than the note did. You were wearing his clothes, he made you breakfast, and he was asking how you slept. This must be what heaven is like.
"Hey. I slept pretty good, you're good company when you're asleep." Steve didn't laugh, he didn't even smile. The look on his face could quite literally kill.
"Umm... Steve? You okay?" You're statement seemed to upset him, seeing as he practically jumped out of his chair and began pacing back and forth behind his chair. He was honestly starting to freak you out at this point.
"Okay?! Am I okay? Are you kidding me Y/N?! You quite literally could have died yesterday, do you understand that?! You're so careless with your life that you're borderline suicidal! I could've lost you. I haven't been able to breathe with how stressed I've been, and it hasn't seemed to affect you at all!" Steve quickly regretted his words, seeing the happy façade you had once had give way. Your face downturned, your eyebrows scrunched together, and your eyes went dark. He could swear he saw a tear in the corner of your eye.
"Not affect me? You think this hasn't affected me?! Every time I hear a clock ticking, I flinch. Every time I close my eyes, I'm afraid I'm gonna open them and see that son of a bitch. You're right, I'm not affected. I'M FUCKING TRAUMATIZED! And don't you dare blame me for what happened back there. Getting cursed wasn't be being careless, it was just Vecna finding a new teenager to terrorize! Don't pretend you have a fucking ounce of the stress I have Steve. You have no CLUE what this feels like." You were seeing red. Even after you had gotten it all out, you still could have strangled him.
"Well don't invalidate how afraid I was Y/N! I understand that you have been through a lot. I understand that you're probably terrified. I understand that I crossed a line. What I don't understand is why I can't be worried! I'm fucking terrified! I can't lose you." Steve had realized his true feelings as soon as he saw your eyes roll back in your head. They had hit him head on with no warning. When he started to process it, it explained a lot of his feelings. But for so long he swore he couldn't, he swore it was wrong. But how could something so right be wrong?
"Why do you even care Steve? I'm just Henderson's older sister! That's all I've ever been! That's all I'll EVER be!"
"Is it so hard to see that I'm in love with you Y/N?! Can you not see that I've been in love with you ever since I met you?! Are you really that blind?" Steve's word slowly sunk in, confusing you even more. Steve didn't love you. He'd made it pretty obvious ever since you developed feelings for him that he didn't love you.
"You can't lie to me about something like that Steve. That's not fair." Tears slowly began to gather in your eyes as you remembered each and every time Steve rejected you, both subtly and not so subtly. Each memory hurt more than the last, each memory taking a piece of your heart with it.
"I'm not lying Y/N. I swear to you." He slowly came around to your side of the table, cupping your cheek with his hand as he wiped away the few tears that had managed to fall. Against your better judgement, you leaned into his touch.
"I have loved you since I first set eyes on you in 1985. I have loved you ever since you rejected me. The rejection actually made me love you more in some weird way. I know I've had a weird way of showing it, trust me. I've just always told myself that it's wrong for me to love you. I've gone through every reason in the book, but none of them have ever been good enough." You slowly opened your eyes, scared of what you would see when you did. Surprisingly, all you saw in Steve's eyes was love. Pure, unfiltered, overwhelming love.
"I love you too Steve. I love you so much." You fell into Steve's arms, holding him as closely as you possibly could. You basked in his scent, in his warmth, and in his love. His love for you. You'd never get used to that.
You and Steve sat there for what felt like hours just holding each other. You both had been hiding how you felt for so long. Finally, you found each other. Finally, you could.

you sigh in boredom, sprawled on your bed with one of your mom’s magazines dangling from your hands. your best friend, robin, is sitting on the floor a couple feet away, sifting through your collection of cassette tapes in search of something to entertain herself.
just as you’re about to give up and go pester your little brother, dustin, you come across a picture in the magazine that has laughter bubbling up from your chest.
“holy shit, come look at this.” you cackle, waving your friend over as you swing your legs over the edge of the bed and sit up.
robin joins you on the mattress and peers over your shoulder at the image. she snorts loudly upon being greeted with the sight of an incredibly jacked dude in a tiny leotard looking seductively at the camera.
“oh my god. what the hell is he wearing?” you look up at her as she laughs and shifts closer to point something else out in the picture, swallowing when you suddenly notice the lack of distance between your faces. you’re so distracted that you don’t hear what she says, the sound of her unintelligible voice only registering as a pleasant buzz in your ears.
robin’s laughter slowly fades as she raises her eyes to meet yours, and it doesn’t take her long to notice the proximity as she scans your features admiringly. she also doesn’t miss the way your breath hitches slightly when her eyes flicker down to your mouth and back to your eyes again.
your lips part in surprise when she gently grabs onto your wrist and starts to lean towards you, her breath fanning across your face. your heart thumps against your rib cage as she leans closer and closer, ghosting over your lips with her own…
then, a knock.
or, more accurately, a series of loud bangs that makes you gasp and jump about a foot in the air.
“y/n, robin, dinner!” dustin shouts through the door.
you close your eyes, taking a deep breath to calm your racing pulse. “be right there.”
you listen as his footsteps recede before standing up and heading to the door, muttering, “little shit always has the worst timing.” (it was true; you vividly remember the time he’d walked in on you making out with one of the cheerleaders in the sports equipment closet, and, knowing him, he’s never going to let you live it down.)
when you reach your bedroom door, you hesitate to open it, casting an apologetic glance over your shoulder at a disappointed-looking robin. she offers a small smile as she gets up to follow you, chewing her lip as she hopes and prays to whatever higher power there might be that your friendship isn’t ruined forever.

Dialogue for Eddie falling for Dustin's older sister, please? Thanks! ❤️
aahh yeees Eddie with Henderson!reader ❤️
You walked over to the theatre room where you knew the Hellfire Club gathered and you knocked on the door a little nervous. You smiled at the guy who opened the door for you even if he looked confused.
"Um, hi" you said, kindly when he didn't say anything.
"Who are you?"
"Oh, sorry, I'm looking for-"
"Hey, Gareth, who's at the-" you felt even more nervous when Eddie Munson stepped over to the entrance and looked at you. "Door" he finished, smirking at you. "You lost, princess?"
"Uh- I um, n-no" you chuckled nervously. "I was uh l-looking for Dustin" you said. "Henderson" you added when they didn't reply anything.
"May I ask what does a beautiful lady like you want with Henderson?" Eddie smiled, crossing his arms in front of his chest and you admired his tattoos.
"Um, he's my brother" you told him as if it was obvious and his smile dropped.
"Wait, you... you're Henderson's sister?"
"Y-yeah" you said, feeling your cheeks burning. "I mean we have the last name and all" you chuckled quietly.
"How did I not know this?" he asked, a bit upset.
"Um- well, I don't know" you laughed. "Probably because Dustin-"
"Hey!" you turned around to see Dustin walking down the hall with Mike and Erica. "What are you doing here?" he said, pulling you away from the entrance.
"I was looking for you. You left this in the car and I didn't know if it was important for your game" you said, handing him the book. "Also you left the snacks we bought for your friends" you said, sweetly. "Hi Mike, hi Erica" you smiled at them.
"Hi" they both replied, happily.
"Okay, thank you for the book and the snacks" Dustin said, grabbing them from you. "You can leave now-" he said, trying to pull you away.
"Hey, hold on, Henderson" Eddie said, running over to block your way. "Don't be rude. Your sister was kind enough to bring snacks, I mean the least we can do is invite her in" he said, smiling flirty at you and you giggled shily.
"NO!" Dustin quickly said. "I m-mean she has better things to do than-"
"Well, actually I was just going to wait for you, reading my book in the car" you told him.
"Oh no, we can't allow that" Eddie said, grabbing your hand and pulling you to him.
"But she doesn't even play!" Dustin complained.
"Well, even better" Eddie said, bringing your hand to his lips. "You can lead the campaign with me, princess" he said.
"No!" Dustin complained.
"Really?" you asked, feeling butterflies in your stomach at the way Eddie was looking at you.
"Of course" he insisted.
"Sure, that sounds like fun" you admitted.
"Perfect" Eddie said, pulling you inside the room.
"You know how you tried to hide the fact that you had a sister from Eddie so he wouldn't date her?" Mike asked Dustin, who was still looking your way as Eddie brought you to his seat and introduced you to the rest of the guys.
"Yeah" he said, annoyed.
"I don't think it worked" Mike said, making Erica laugh and Dustin punched him in the arm.
"You think?!"

Dustin’s Letter

Dustin Henderson x Sibling! Reader

Tumblr media
Hi (y/n)!
I really miss you. I know you died, I’m not stupid. Everyone keeps trying to jump around saying it to me.
ESPECIALLY MOM!!!!
I was at Mike’s house when you died though. Mrs. Wheeler cried because mom called her and told her. She almost fell down the stairs coming to the basement because she came down them so fast.
I was really confused about why she was so sad and even more confused when she hugged me and kept saying that things were going to be ok.
Mike, Lucas, and Will were super confused too.
I didn’t even know what was going on until mom came and picked me up like 15 minutes later. She was crying too. I was kinda surprised she didn’t crash on her way there.
Mrs. Wheeler hugged me again before leading me to the front door where mom was waiting.
The guys ran up the stairs to see what was going on and then we all found out because Mrs. Wheeler walked out to mom and started saying stuff about you being in a better place now and that she was so sorry
I couldn’t really make out anything else she said because mom and her were both crying
I remember I turned back to the guys and without even realizing it I started crying too
They all looked so confused because you were the coolest person we knew and we just didn’t get how you could just die.
I knew almost everyone that went to your funeral, the only person I didn’t recognize was this one guy. He was older, like 50 or something maybe.
I would ask you who he was but your dead now so I can’t.
It’s really weird being an only child now. You were one for a little bit before I was born but I was never supposed to be one.
I feel bad for not telling you this too but before you died we found out that there’s another dimension and it’s attacking the town and Mike is totally in love with this girl with super powers even though he denies it all the time and Will is kind of possessed and one time I gave that girl, her name is Eleven, by the way, I gave her some of your old clothes.
You never mentioned missing those clothes so I don’t think you would’ve cared even if you knew I gave them to Eleven.
I keep waking up in the middle of the night because I’ll have a dream that you’re just pranking me and everyone is in on it and I’ll run into your room and think you’ll be there laughing at how long I fell for it but you're never there.
All your stuff is there, just the way you left it. But no you.
I heard someone say you did it to yourself but I don’t believe that. You wouldn’t do that.
I really miss you (y/n). I miss you driving me to school sometimes too.
I like riding my bike to school but I liked when you would drive me more. Even though I didn’t always act like it when you were here.
I was playing with Mews earlier and I had this really weird thought,
one day I’ll be older than you! Isn’t that weird? I’ll always be your little brother but in a few years I’ll be older than you
That is weird. Super weird!
Sorry for not telling you about the other dimension stuff when you were still here again. I didn’t want to tell you because I was scared you would get hurt but you would’ve thought Eleven was super cool.
I love and miss you (y/n)
p.s
I really miss being your brother even though we would fight sometimes

requested by: @winterxisxcomingx , I sincerely hope you like this ✨🌻💛
pairings: Jonathan Byers x reader, Joyce Byers x reader, etc.
warnings: none, except for a few curse words
feedbacks are always appreciated!
You and Jonathan were kind of the weirdos of Hawkins High. The oldest of the Byers children spent most of his time on photography-related matters, while you loved writing and taking inspiration on whichever thing happened to be in your field of view.
The both of you weren't that sociable; however, you had managed to become friends while you were in elementary school and were inseparable ever since.
You had a couple other friends, of course, but Jonathan was your best friend. He knew everything about you, just like your brother or your mother did, and you knew everything about him.
After so many years of knowing one another Joyce considered you to be a children of hers as you often went over to the Byers house, and your mother did the same with Jonathan.
Once in a while you organised sleepovers, either after a tiring week of school or on the weekdays (if you didn't have any important tests to revise for). That time, it was Jonathan who invited you over to watch scary movies and bake something together; you loved cooking, so you accepted immediately.
School had been particularly tiring that day, so you needed a good rest. After your last class, you hopped on your best friend's car and drove to the Byers house. Afterwards, you put your things into Jonathan's room and walked to the kitchen; he followed soon after.
“What do you want to make today?”
“Uhm... what about a cheescake?”
“Yes! I love cheescakes! I'll bring some to Dustin tomorrow, he'll love it for sure!”
You immediately started gathering the ingredients, and soon enough you were preparing the dessert. You were too busy trying not to make a mess to notice that Jonathan wasn't helping you out like always.
“Hey, Jo, get your ass back in here! I need help, you know? Or else I'll eat this cake all by myself!”
“Oh, I'm sure you will, y/n”
“Are you mocking me now?”
“I would never”
“Hey, don't— are you taking photos of me?”
“Uhm... yes?”
“Well, let me strike a pose, or else I won't look good at all!”
With that, Jonathan burst out laughing as you started making the strangest poses.
While others found this passion of his a bit creepy, taking photos of people without them noticing, you found it sweet. He liked observing people, just like you did; it was just his was of expressing his curiosity that was different.
Not long after, Jonathan put his camera away and started actively helping you. Unfortunately, it took you double the time needed to make the cheescake because you laughed at everything and were distracted by even the smallest things.
Suddenly, the phone started ringing. It wasn't Jonathan who went to answer, though; strangely enough, you picked up.
“Hi, this is the Henderson residence, how may I— no wait, this is the Byers residence. How may I help?”
“Y/n, it's me”
“Oh! Joyce, is everything ok?”
“Yes, yes. I just wanted to ley you know that I won't be home this evening. Bob Newby asked me to try this new restaurant and— I think I'll go”
“Well that's great! Do I need to pick Will up from Mike's?”
“Oh no, I'm going to take care of that. I'll be home by 10.30, ok? There's some leftovers in the fridge if you want anything to eat”
“Okay. I'll see you soon then— and good luck on your date!”
“Thank you, y/n. Say hi to Jonathan for me”
“I will!”
While you conversed with Joyce, you watched Jonathan. He was carefully mixing the last of the needed ingredients, and when you hung up he turned around; and he did notice you were observing him, but he didn't mind.
“All right. I think the cheescake is finished. Just need to put it in the fridge and we're done”
“Great. What do we do now?”
“We could watch a movie or two, just like we said”
You chose to watch Motel Hell and The Funhouse, which you'd watched plenty of times already, and Jonathan also made some popcorn just to have a snack.
Even though sleep was threatening to take over, you tried to stay awake and enjoy the time with your best friend.
“You're tired, uh?”
“Not at all”
“Your yawning says otherwise”
“I just never sleep that well, you know? And I'm exhausted at the end of the week”
“I understand... Well, we can go to sleep right know if you want to.”
“Really?”
“Yeah.”
“Thank you, Jo. You're the best”
“I know y/n”
He was just like that with you. Sarcastic, funny and witty. You were grateful that he felt comfortable enough to show this side of his.
You fell asleep almost immediately on Jonathan's bed; you always thought that the mattress was extremely soft, and that the bedsheets smelled amazing. You didn't know the exact reason why,but you felt at ease sleeping there.
You expected Jonathan to come in at one moment or another, but he didn't. Instead, you were woken up by a knock on the door.
“Come in”
“Oh, hey sleeping beauty”
“Hello prince charming”
“You slept quite a while, you know? It's almost 9.30pm .I didn't want to wake you up, but I made something to eat”
“What is it?”
“It's pasta. With tomato sauce and basil. Just how you like it”
“Thank you, Jo! I'll get up, I just— I have to brush my hair. It looks like I fought with a stray cat”
“Your hair is beautiful, y/n. Now eat, then we can taste that amazing cheescake”
The pasta was absolutely delicious, and so was the cheescake. Nonetheless, you thought the Graham cracker crust needed some more butter; it felt too dry.
After you ate everything you and Jonathan sat on the couch again and started watching The Funhouse, your second movie of the day. You found it to be quite scary, hence the fact that you held your hands on your face for most of the time. Jonathan, on the other hand, held his left arm around your shoulders while his right arm held yet another bowl of freshly made popcorn.
“Why can't we watch something else? I mean, why does it always have to be horror movies?”
“Oh, shush! Horror movies are the best!”
When Joyce and Will got back, they found out that the two of you had fallen asleep; Jonathan was sitting normally, while you had unconsciously put your head on his chest.
“Does this mean they're together, mom?”
“I don't know, honey”
You suddenly woke up in the middle of the night; after checking the clock on the wall, along with your wristwatch, you noted that it was 4am. You weren't that used to falling asleep before midnight, and you figured out that that was the reason why you had woken up so early.
Almost immediately you acknowledged the position you were in; practically holding your best friend like he was your favourite stuffed toy. It wasn't the first time you'd fallen asleep like that, but this time it felt different. It strangely felt more intimate. Needless to say, you were surprised and your heartbeat quickened.
You tried countless times to fall asleep, but you just couldn't. Your mind was flooded by thoughts regarding Jonathan and the relationship between the two of you. Was it just friendship or was there something more brewing? You really didn't know.

Could we get more about Dustin's and Lucy's bond? Especially about Lucy's protectiveness over him. As an oldest sister who's basically helping raise her siblings, I relate to Lucy a lot
Tumblr media
Stand back folks, I'm about to ramble
Lucy has felt like it was her job to look after Dustin for a long time
In my version of events their dad died due to a work place accident when Lucy was around ten making Dustin about seven
With their dad's life insurance and a pay out by the company, they were able to stay financially stable (and even a little better off), but emotionally they were a wreck
It's in this time Lucy started to step up taking care of Dustin, basically guiding him out of the way of their mom so she wouldn't have to stress over stuff
She took him to the movies, made lunches, read to him and basically anything she could think of to make him happy and distract him from what was going on
Eventually their mom came back to herself and recognized very quickly what Lucy was doing; it's a bit of guilt she always carries with her
Lucy was able to relax a bit when it came to taking care of Dustin after that, but the habits were now in place
Dustin knows that if there is something going on, he can trust Lucy to fix it
They also have developed a strict DTM (Don't Tell Mom) policy around certain subjects; namely minor injuries, late nights, rare moments of skipping class etc
My point is even before the Upside Down, they both had plenty of practice lying to their mom about the little things
Dustin absolutely has no sense of boundaries when it comes to her privacy
Her lock broke of her door when she was around eleven and she never bothered to fix it (people with sliding doors know this pain) meaning Dustin will just walk into her room unannounced at any given moment to talk to her about something
"Lucy are you asleep?" "Yes." "Good, I want to talk to you."
When she finally gets her own car, he doesn't so much as for a ride as expect one
*Lucy pulling up to Mike's with Dustin and Max in the fronts seats of the truck* Dustin: "Get in losers, we're going to the arcade!"
Her protectiveness of Dustin doesn't come so much from stopping him from doing things (she's never going to convince him not to do something), but being there if/when things go side ways
I also think this is something Dustin starts to recognize as he gets older and tries to step up more to look after Lucy too
She's his sister, not his mom, and he wants to be her brother

Caught in the Act
Pairings: Eddie x Henderson!Fem!Reader
Word count: 1.3k
Summary: Eddie cancels the campaign and Dustin, along with Mike and Lucas, wants to know what is so important to tear the strict Dungeon Master away from his beloved club.
Warnings: implied sexual themes, profanity, um idk let me know if i missed anything lol
edit: crying over how sweet everyone is! And my first post to reach 1k notes accckkkkk!!
Tumblr media
The campaign that was originally set for tonight had been pushed for whatever reason and the gang had nowhere else to go. They had already let their parents know that they’ll be out late so why waste the chance for some late night exploring?
“What if we go to The Hideout. It’s a popular hang out spot now, right?” Lucas kicked a pebble from under his sneakers.
“I bet Eddie’s there. Think of it.” Dustin nodded as he tried to convince the other two. “He never moves the meetings for anything or anyone. Gives us shit for not attending and suddenly he’s not free tonight? I call bull.”
“We’ll catch him in the act. Then he won’t have anything on us next time.” Lucas agreed as his palm met Dustin’s and they chuckled in excitement.
“And what if he’s not there?” They both turned to Mike who had his hands stuffed in his pockets, shrugging.
“Then he’s not there! We’ll just come back to your place and, I don’t know, do something. Besides, I’ll need a ride home from Y/N. She’s doing some project with Nancy.”
With a half-assed back up plan, the trio set off towards the infamous pub in their Hellfire shirts. The place was littered with people both young and old.
They walked into the place with heads held high as people they recognised from school watched them tread like they owned the place. In addition to being a school night, they were also freshmen. What better way to earn the cool points by being seen at a place as intimidating as The Hideout.
“Let’s just see if he’s here and get outta here.” Mike slightly yelled over the loud music playing in the background, lungs already clouded by the nearby smoke by several lit cigarettes.
They quickly scanned the place but it didn’t take long to spot the messy mop of hair that stood out in all of Hawkins.
“Eddie! You lying son of a bitch!” Dustin yelled as they jogged toward the bar, laughing. “We got you!”
At first, Eddie was confused as to why he’s hearing the freshman’s voice at a place he never expected to but his emotion was quickly replaced with an obvious panic as he turned to address the boys without fully turning his body away from the bar.
With a tight lipped smile, he spoke. “Henderson, what are you doing here? Aren’t you supposed to be in bed in like, what? Twenty minutes?”
He looked at his wristwatch as he fixed a few strands of hair stuck to his face and mouth, his bangs slightly stuck to his forehead with sweat.
“Aren’t we supposed to be doing the campaign?” They crossed their arms as they examine him with shit eating grins etched on their faces. They caught him.
“Well, things happen and you know… things happened.”
As Eddie somewhat explained, Dustin’s eyes linger on the pair of legs dangling over Eddie’s hips. He couldn’t see anything else as the person ducked behind Eddie’s broad back. He tried peering over but Eddie was quick to block him.
Though Dustin quickly realised that he didn’t need to see who it was to know. It was those pristine white sneakers he loathed seeing resting in the shoe racks by the front door. He’d always wanted to smear the underside of his shoes on your white ones just so it wasn’t so clean.
Though he knew you’d kill him because they were your favorite pair. The one you always wore with the stupidly coordinated outfits to school as his friends snickered at him about you being neat and presentable while he was the other way around.
The type to be recognised from a crowd of people. The type to be lined up with the likes of Nancy Wheeler and Chrissy Cunningham. The good, perfect girls of Hawkins High.
“Y/N?” He blurted out and despite the loud music, you heard him clearly. Mike and Lucas shifted their gaze between Dustin, Eddie and eventually, you.
Over Eddie’s shoulder, you waved. “Dustin! Funny seeing you here.”
Eddie finally parted with the bar and stepped to the side with his hand on his nape while you jump off from the counter, smoothing over your skirt that rode up your leg.
“What the hell, Y/N? Aren’t you supposed to be with Nancy?” Dustin was frantic.
Tonight was all about catching their strict dungeon master knee deep in his hypocritical bullshit but what he found was like stepping on a lego or cow shit. Either way, he was disgusted by the idea of whatever you and eddie were doing when they arrived or even before they arrived.
“Look, I think we’re all somewhere we’re not supposed be tonight.” You put a hand on his shoulder as you looked Mike and Lucas in the eye.
Their eyes darted everywhere else except yours. Maybe it was the fact that they know they’re not supposed to be in an adult-only place or the fact that your bra was peeking from your unbuttoned shirt that was now all scrunched up. Who knows?
“You’re not telling on me are you, Dusty?” You ask your brother who had is mouth agape.
“I mean, The Hideout is not really the place mom would be thrilled to see you in either. You and I would be in great trouble and you can kiss that free trip to Utah goodbye.” You nod slowly as you laid out the facts. “Think about it.”
You promised to be Dustin’s ride to Utah during the spring break in exchange for him covering for your ass from the many times he caught your bedroom empty and windows opened during unholy hours of the night. He didn’t question it then.
Dustin peered behind you and saw Eddie leaning on the bar where you sat earlier. His lips curved in what looked to be an apologetic smile. Upon seeing Dustin’s  face, he let out a two finger salute.
Eddie had thought of the many ways he’d let the secret loose on your little brother but this was not one of the ideal scenarios. Somehow, he felt bad for the way it turned out but glad that the cat’s out of the bag.
Dustin sighs and nods.
“Good.” You take off his cap and shuffle his curly hair, earning a groan. “Be home by 10.”
“Eleven.” He bargained, sizing up to you.
Considering tonight’s events, you thought of letting him off easy.
“And lunch is on you for a month.”
“No.”
“Two months.”
“No.”
“A week.”
“Fine.”
With that, they hurried out of the bar, pushing one another to get out as fast as they could. You could hear them talk amongst themselves as they ran out.
“Holy shit, Eddie’s dating your sister.”
“Holy shit, Eddie’s dating my sister.”
“Wait, does that mean she’s the hot girlfriend Eddie was talking about.”
The gushing drowned out and you face Eddie who was sipping at his canned beer.
“We scarred him.” He chuckled. “I’m never gonna hear the end of this.”
“You talk about me?”
He shrugged. “I don’t know, is that bad?”
You nodded as you caged him with your arms at either side of the counter.
“Looks like you got it bad, Munson.”
You catch his lips with yours, slick with a tinge of bitterness from the beer but it drowns in the sweet taste of Eddie’s soft lips. His bottom lip caught in between your teeth as he let out a groan, hands smoothing over the arch of your back.
Like no one was watching, you guide Eddie’s hands further past what is considered appropriate in a public setting.
He jerks his hand away while looking around, checking for any watchful eyes as the scene unfolded. You cup his cheek and put his hand back on the curve of your ass, skirt starting to ride up your leg once more as you spread them slightly to make way for Eddie in between.
“I have to go back on stage in five.” He whispers, hot breath fanning your face.
“Then, I guess we’d have to be quick.”
You don’t know how you’ll face your brother over breakfast tomorrow like nothing happened the night before. But you let the thoughts of tomorrow fly over your head as you were already pulling Eddie to one of the empty bathroom stalls.

The visit
Eddie munson x Henderson!reader
Summary: Suzie comes to visit Dustin which some how wraps you and eddie into the mix.
Laying peacefully in bed. Your head on eddies chest. Naked under the sheets. Skin touching. His arm around you as you lay at his side. Your arms wrapped around his slender waist. The clock reading 1:43 pm. What more could you want? Nothing could ruin the moment. Until...
BANG! BANG! BANG!
On your bedroom door
"We're back with Suzie come say hi don't be rude." Dustin shouts from the other side of the door waking eddie. Then his running footsteps could be heard. Eddie groans rubbing his eyes. You sit up in bed kissing Eddie sweetly. As you pull away he attempts to chase your lips. But gives up throwing himself into the pillows.
"Morning baby." You say stretching before getting up looking for you pyjamas.
"Afternoon more like." Eddie says glancing at the clock. You both slip your pyjamas back on. Eddie hugs you for a moment and sways holding you. "Common let's go meet Dustins not so imaginary girlfriend." Eddie says kissing your head.
He opens the door for you and you both exit. Walking to the living room eddies arm over your shoulders keeping you close to his side. Dustin hears you before he sees you.
"Finally. Suzie this is y/n. Y/n this is... Why is Eddie here?" Dustin completly trails off starring at Eddie.
"Cause he's my boyfriend n it was late. Hi Suzie I'm Dustins sister nice to meet you." You say stretching nearly accidentally hitting Eddie from how close he was stood next to you. You rub his arm in apology.
"Nice to meet you y/n." Suzie smiles giving you a small wave.
"And this is Eddie you know my D&D club leader I told you about." Dustin gestures to Eddie.
"Oh yes Dustin has told me lots about you." She smiles at eddie.
"Nice to uh meet you." Eddie says still half asleep.
Dustin shows Suzie around the small house and you and Eddie head to the kitchen. You sit in the side as he puts the kettle on making you, your mum and himself a coffee as he refuses to let you do it when he's over due to you burning yourself once. "Your so good to me." You say as Eddie steps between yours legs. He burries his face in your neck arms going to your waist.
Dustin and Suzie walk into the kitchen and Eddie untangles himself from you going back to the coffee task. "Did you seriously only just wake up?" Dustin asked sitting at the small table with Suzie next to him.
"Yes n if it was up to me n not your loud mouth we would still be asleep." Eddie complains half for getting Suzie there. But not enough to not make her and Dustin hot coco. "Here." He slides them a cross the table to the too
"Why won't you let y/n do it?" Dustin askes
"Cause I burnt myself once n he won't get over it." You mumble sipping your coffee as Eddie takes your mum hers rolling his eyes. "He can't say I don't try he's just a drama queen."
"First I'm dungeon master it's my thing. Second I'm not being responsible for if u burn yourself again you was a baby last Time." Eddie says kissing your cheek.
"Hey Eddie..." Dustin askes. Eddie turns so he's stood between your legs with his back to you looking at Dustin arms crossed over his chest. Your arm that isn't holding coffee goes around him. "What?" He answers simply.
"Do you wanna I dunno would you mind taking me and Suzie to the arcade I wanna introduce her to Mike will and Lucas... And then back here..." Dustin askes hastily.
"Only if y/n comes so I'm not a total taxi driver." He answers leaning fully back into you. "I'll come." You say sipping your coffee.
"Well there's your answer." Eddie says. You lean a cross and put your mug in the sink. Both your arms going around his neck. His hands to your legs and and slide to his back. "To my bedroom. I gotta get dressed." You say as Eddie walks out the kitchen with you in his back.
"I hope were like them two one day. They seem so happy, and in love and they act like it's just them two in the world." Suzie says smiling at Dustin sipping her drink.
"Once you get to know them more you'll realise were more like them then you think trust me." Dustin says finally holding her hand. Which she blushes and smiles at.
In your room Eddie throws you on to the bed. Jumping in you as you giggle. "Where the black Lacey top and the black leather mini skirt. I'll give you my leather jacket to go with it." Eddie says kissing you.
"Why?" You giggle.
"Cause you look hot in that outfit and I'm going to willingly give you my jacket." He says rolling off of you to find some of the clothes you'd stolen.
You both get dressed and enter the living room.
"Let's go kiddos." Eddie says signalling for the door. Suzie and Dustin walk out hand in hand smiling. Eddie glanced you up and down. "God I love you in that jacket." Eddie says playfully throwing his head back.
"Mmm and I love you in just the demim over vest really shows yours tattoos." You say walking over to him.
"I love you."
"I love you most."
"Come in Romeo's gonna start shouting at Me if I don't hurry." Eddie says gesturing the door for you. As you close the door and look around you see Dustin and Suzie kissing and then pulling away. Eddie takes your hand and walks down to the van.
"Hey babe?" He says opening the sliding door for the two. "Yeah? " you answer as he slams the side door and them opens yours. Which you happily jump into.
"Remember when we was that awkward?" Eddie whispers and giggles.
"Yeah I remember when you first kissed me and you went as red as a tomato and started stuttering." You laugh putting a hand on his cheek.
"Shhh don't tell them." Eddie says kissing you then closing the door.
He gets in the drivers side and starts the van.
"Red as a tomato huh?" Dustin says to Eddie from the back of the van.
"Shut it Henderson or I'll tell the whole club how awkward that kiss you two just shared there was." Eddie half threatens to which Dustin takes his hands.
"Rights let's go." Eddie pulls out of your driveway and rests a hand on your thigh as he drives to the arcade. Dustin and Suzie are talking and blushing. You can't help but remember when it was you and Eddie sat in the back of the van talking, blushing and giggling and you smile, happy that Dustins found what he never thought he would find.
You look over to Eddie to see him with a cigarette hanging loosely from his lips. One hand on the steering wheel and the other on your thigh. He glances over at you and smiles. "Love you." He says as he blows the smoke out the window.
"Love you more." You say taking his hand in yours.
"Love you most." He smirks kissing your hand with a loud 'mwah' sound.
"Huh you bitch." You say smirking kissing his stubbly cheek.
"You love it." He smirks

Hey can you do more Steve dating a Henderson sister lmao i really enjoy them
Dating Steve Harrington and Being Dustin’s Sister - 3
headcanons
Tumblr media
summary: more about what it’s like to date steve while being dustin’s sibling !!
pairing: steve harrington x fem!reader (henderson!reader)
warnings: swearing,
note: more steve x henderson!reader !! i love writing these so much
Dustin absolutely will not tolerate any PDA. He will literally throw a tantrum !! He does not want to see Steve Harrington all over his sister.
He secretly thinks you guys are really cute and he’s really glad you’re both happy. He would never admit it though, he has a reputation to uphold.
Steve and Dustin are so close that it sometimes feels like you’re the third wheel. They’ll even make you sit in the backseat sometimes.
You don’t mind, though. It’s really great to see them get along so well.
Dustin secretly wants Steve to marry you so bad. He can’t imagine anyone else marrying his big sister.
If the two of you ever break up, Dustin would be absolutely devastated. He’d probably concoct some kind of plan to get you back together, going as far as asking the other party members for help.
Movie nights are the absolute greatest with these two !! They’ll pick out some lame action movie, buy a shit ton of snacks, and probably make a pillow fort. They’ll then beg you to join in, offering you pizza and your favorite candy as a reprieve.
Even though Dustin loves Steve and trusts him wholeheartedly, he still has to have the talk with him. He threatens Steve’s life if he ever were to hurt you.
Steve is always invited over for holidays. At Christmas time, his parents are always away so he spends a lot of time at your house. The three of you have a tradition of baking cookies on Christmas Eve.
Dustin secretly keeps a whole photo album full of pictures of his friends and family. Tons of pictures of the three of you grace the pages.
He keeps it tucked away neatly in his closet, knowing how much shit he’d get for it if someone were to find it.
Hanging out with Dustin and Steve is the best experience. They’re both ridiculously funny and their energy is unmatched.

Dustin Hendersons older sister
FIGURE YOU OUT:
Chapter 1
When Dustin had invited his friends over he didn’t anticipate his sister and niece falling asleep on the couch before they were supposed to arrive.
His original plan had been to have a movie marathon but now he was unsure if they’d both be able to sleep through the noise. He’d known you were up practically all night, he’d heard the frustrated groans and heavy feet even from his room at the top of the stairs.
Normally his well behaved niece would sleep through the night and barely even fuss but the poor two year old was battling an ear infection. “Dude do you think we’ll wake them up if we just watch the movies?” Mike asked hushed as he looked over at the back of the older woman.
“Look I don't want to wake either of them” Dustin sighs quietly, “Y/N was up all night” Lucas made a sympathetic face, and glanced over at the subtle movement of Dustin’s sister.
When y/n graduated highschool, she had run away with her lover leaving their mom distraught. Y/N returned almost a year later, heavily pregnant, crying about how her supposed highschool sweetheart had left her.
Y/N didn’t really like to talk about it in detail, Dustin understood that there was more to it but never pushed. He was happy his older sibling was back, and enjoyed being an uncle.
The loud banging on the door startled the boys, all eyes looking to y/n. The banging continued, causing Dustin to scramble up and jerk the door open. “Dude” he hissed looking up to the curly headed senior.
The smile on Eddie’s face faltered, confused at the not so friendly greeting, “that’s no way to greet a guest Henderson” even his normal speaking voice was boisterous.
“My sister’s asleep on the couch” Dustin spoke quietly causing Eddie to try and peek around the foyer to see for himself. He gave an apologetic smile and pushed past the younger boy.
“What’s the plan, boys?” Eddie asked, trying to be quiet. They all shrugged, unsure what would be quiet enough to not wake the two fast asleep on the couch.
Dustin spoke “y/ns usually a deep sleeper” shrugs and continues, “we can just try going ahead with the movie marathon” The rest of them nodded in agreement, Dustin went to the kitchen and began gathering snacks, the others followed in order to help.
Y/n jolted awake, unaware of the group of teens in the kitchen, or the repeat senior who was supervising them. She looked down making sure the small child wrapped in her arms was still asleep.
She took the opportunity to unwrap from the child and stand, stretching. Y/n took the blanket off the back of the couch covering the toddler with it. The quiet chattering of the teens had reminded her of Dustin’s plan. She felt awful as well as embarrassed.
Y/n made her way to the kitchen and leaned against the frame, “if I ordered pizza would you boys eat any?” This caught the kids off guard causing them to jump, y/n chuckled not aware of the taller man on the other side of the room.
They talked amongst themselves and then nodded in agreement that pizza would be good. “I’ll go order, Dustin can you-“ she didn’t even need to finish her question before he nodded understanding to keep an eye on the toddler.
Y/n called the local pizza place putting in a decent sized order. Treating the teens was the least she could do, especially as she’d realized they had tried to be quiet and still were.
She took the opportunity to freshen up, which just consisted of fixing the loose ponytail and brushing the sleep smell off her breath. Y/n wanted nothing more than to curl into the bed and go back to sleep, but that wouldn’t be fair to either Dustin or her child.
The outfit that was currently being worn was fine, she was going for comfort rather than impression. When y/n came back out and glanced over at the couch her child slept on, tucked into the corner of it was a tall curly headed man.
Dustin had mentioned Eddie before, however, the thought of him being what looked to be almost her age never crossed her mind. He looked at her child as if she was a bomb waiting to go off. Normally she wasn’t much of a worry, but there was no telling today.
“Here let me-” Y/n  started and bent down to pick up her child to give Eddie more room, as he was frantically telling her it was okay. Jovie was picked up carefully and carried to the room she shared with her mother.
Mike smirked and looked at Eddie, “Scared of a baby Munson?” Eddie went to say something but stopped when y/n walked back into the room and spoke, “What’re we watching?”
Dustin had no qualms against his sister joining, she was into just about the same things he was. “I think we’re going to watch a bunch of horror movies” he looked to the rest of the group to make sure they were in agreement.
“Oh! In that case-” she held up a hand, hurrying off to her room again, this time returning with a stack of movies. “Steve dropped these off” Dustin carefully took the stack and looked through it, passing the tapes to each of the boys to get approval.
“Half of these are new releases” Mike states, in shock. Y/n shrugged unsure of what to say, though she knew the gesture was more than just friendly from her babysitter. She wouldn’t entertain the idea.
“You guys cool with these movies then?” Dustin asked and each of them voiced an agreement. He made quick work to start up the first movie, while y/n paced waiting for the pizza afraid that the doorbell would wake up her child.
Eddie made his way to the foyer once the smell of melted cheese wafted into the living room. “Need help?” he asked lowly, y/n gasped not expecting the voice behind her. “Sorry,” he apologized.
Y/N shook her head, “No, you’re fine.” Said nothing else handing over two boxes of pizza. He made his way back to the living room strumming up excitement with the food. Y/n follow behind him shortly after, as she went to set her two boxes down an all too familiar cry erupted. “Fuck, I’m sorry boys” everyone but Eddie mumbled out a dismissal, not caring about the one small cry.
She went to go check on the ill child, Jovie stood in her crib, face crumpled in a grumpy expression. “What is it grumpy butt” y/n asked as she picked up the disheveled child. “Hungry?” Jovie nodded, placing a small hand over her left ear. “I know, time for medicine.” Jovie fussed, y/n bounced her trying to soothe the child “Hey, Uncle Mike and Lucas are here” This seemed to perk the child up.
Y/n smiled as she made her way back to the living room, “My and Lu!” Jovie shouted grabbing everyone’s attention. Making grabby hands at the two boys sitting next to one another.
“Hi Jo” Mike said just as excited, albeit fake enthusiasm. Mike also knew y/n disliked- no hated her child being called Jo. So this was his way of annoying her like any “normal” sibling would.
Jovie’s feet made contact with the floor and went to the two boys, dustin looked over them catching y/ns attention “want me to wait?” He’d been asking about the movie, she shook her head not wanting to throw more of a damper on their movie night even more than she already thought she had.
Dustin went ahead and started the tape while y/n grabbed the medicines from the kitchen. “Come in booger butt” she said sitting on the floor in front of the couch that still held an enamored Eddie.
Eddie watched as y/n expertly spooned each fruity smelling liquid into the toddlers mouth, then rewarding with small cut up bits of pizza. As if they still wouldn’t taste like the gross fruit flavored medication. As much as Eddie wanted to watch the movie, he’d be completely fine watching her all night.
Y/N barely made it through the first movie, Eddie noted when he had glanced from the screen to her. The child however was wide awake, being entertained by Dustin at least at the moment.
In between movies Dustin laid a blanket around his older sibling careful not to wake her, especially as he places a couch pillow behind her neck. It was clear to Eddie, Dustin cared deeply for his sister almost more than some siblings would. Eddie may have thought her ex or baby daddy or whatever, was just a piece of shit and left her to raise the baby on her own. Which is why Dustin cared so much.
Two more movies down and everyone decided to pause for a bathroom break. Eddie was the first back to his seat, noticing the toddler sitting in the middle of the couch as if waiting for him to return, “heydoh” she said clearly trying to say hello.
“Hi” he said, unsure what was happening. Then looked around for Dustin, “I’m Eddie” he continued holding out his giant ring clad hand.
Jovie examined his hand and took her tiny one wrapping it around his pointer finger. He’d almost melted at the gesture, never having an interaction like this before.
She tried to say something but whined placing a hand over her left ear. Eddie looked down to y/n to see if the sound had woken her up but she might as well have been dead.
“Your ear hurt?” Jovie nodded in reply to his question. He glanced around the room trying to find the medicine or grab Dustin’s attention.
Dustin who had overheard was already preparing the medications came over and handed the small measuring cup, “how do I-“ Eddie went to ask but was ignored, he swallowed down the anxiety.
Jovie instinctively opened her mouth ajar, Eddie carefully placed the rim of the cup against her lips and tipped it back. She coughed causing Eddie to curse “oh shit”
“She’s fine” Dustin stated, “she’s dramatic, aren’t you Jovie” she giggled like she knew exactly what he was saying to her. “Thanks for doing that”
Eddie mumbles a no problem as the child crawls in his lap. His arms fly up into the air unsure of where to put them. Jovie made herself comfortable in his lap, uncaring of who he was and focused on the movie. One that he wasn’t sure she should even be watching but if Dustin wasn’t concerned; He wasn’t going to be either.
Hours went on, the Hendersons’ mom had come home to a living room full of sleeping teens and her grandchild. She let them be and went on to bed herself, y/n awake, panicked as she was unable to find her daughter. She stood looking around only to find her tucked away in Eddie Munsons arms as he laid flat across the couch. She smiled softly at the sight contemplating on pulling her from his arms.
Y/n had no intention of waking him up but she’d feel safer if her daughter was asleep in her crib. As she tried to gently take Jovie from his arms, they tightened around her slightly and y/n decided to not worry about it. Her brother wouldn’t be friends with some weirdo, right? She made sure to place a blanket over the both of them, once she was satisfied that Jovie wasn’t going to roll off the couch she made her way back to her bedroom, changed her clothes and crawled back into bed.

Pairing: Eddie Munson x half-sister Henderson reader (I wrote half-sister for more inclusivity for any poc readers)
Possible warnings: Dustin not really liking the reader and maybe reader and Eddie being mean-ish to Dustin??
Tumblr media
Before Spring Break even started, you figured it would be uneventful. Since you lived across the country with your father, you didn’t have any friends to hang out with. But your lack of friends in Hawkins didn’t bother you, because you came back solely to spend time with your mother and half brother.
You were lying on the couch, trying to catch up on some sleep, when your mother frantically stormed in.
“Honey, I have to run to the Wheeler’s house real quick. Will you be okay here by yourself for a little bit?” She asked while already grabbing her purse.
“Of course, I will, Mom. I’m eighteen, not two.”
“I know. It’s just so hard seeing you grow up. I remember bringing you home from the hospital like it was yesterday.” Your mother tousled your hair.
“Mom…” You tried to sound annoyed and playfully swatted her hand away.
“Your brother should be getting home soon. He said he had to stay after school for some project.” She ran back into the kitchen and frantically searched the countertops. She quickly picked up a book and slid it in her purse.
“Okay, I’ll probably let him in.”
“Be nice, you two don’t get to spend enough time together. I’ll be back soon, love you!” Your mother ran out of the house before you could respond.
“Love you too.” You muttered under your breath before closing your eyes. You were just on the verge of falling asleep when the doorbell rang. With a sigh, you forced yourself to get off the couch and answer the door. When you swung the door open, you were greeted by a guy wearing a band t-shirt with hair straight out of a music video. He looked at you with a confused expression before looking at the house number.
“You’re not Dustin.”
“No, I’m not. I’m his half-sister.” You said matter of factly, wondering why this stranger was looking for your little brother. The man’s eyebrows raised as if he was surprised.
“Really?! Dustin never mentioned he had a sister.”
“Probably because I live in New York most of the year.” His face lit up at the mention of New York. You couldn’t deny the stranger had a cute smile.
“New York? Like you live in New York City? Have you been to Madison Square Garden?” You we’re about to answer his question before you remembered this was a complete stranger.
“Who are you and do you always ask this many questions?” You asked with a raised brow. Your suspicious look must have been amusing, because he smiled at you.
“My bad! Eddie Munson, I’m Dustin’s friend and no, I don’t usually ask this many questions. But, I have to ask, what’s your name?” Eddie’s smile turned into a smirk as he extended his hand to you. You looked down at this hand, noticing his arm tattoo, and shook it.
“It’s y/n and it’s nice to meet you. I’m glad to know my brother has at least one friend who isn’t a total D&D nerd.” Eddie’s expression quickly hardened and he placed his hand over his chest, looking hurt.
“D&D isn’t for nerds. It is an epic journey that anyone can take part in.” You couldn’t fight the smile that tugged at your lips. Eddie was just another D&D weirdo, albeit a cute one.
“Sure it is…So, are you supposed to hang out with Dustin or?”
“Yeah, we’re supposed to talk about passing down the responsibility of dungeon master to him.”
“Okay, well…I guess you can come in and wait. My mom said he should be home soon.” You stepped aside and opened the door more.
“Sweet!”
Eddie strutted into the living room like he owned the place. He dramatically flopped down where you had been attempting to nap.
“Do you want anything to drink while you wait?” You asked while walking towards the kitchen. You stopped short to look at Eddie. You couldn’t get over how curly his hair was. He tapped his chin like he was thinking hard while you waited patiently.
“You have any beer?”
“I wish, but all we have is Coke.”
“Bummer. I’ll take a Coke.” He grinned at you, but you playfully rolled your eyes as you walked away. You quickly grabbed a cold can of Coke and brought it back to Eddie.
“Here you go.” You handed Eddie the can. When he reached for it, your fingers brushed against one another’s.
“Thank you, y/n.”
“No problem, Eddie.” His eyes stayed locked on you as you took a seat across from him.
“Hasn’t anyone ever told you it’s rude to stare?” You asked only half seriously. Eddie’s face dropped for a moment before he smiled and shook his head.
“Sorry, I just can’t believe you’re Dustin’s sister. You guys don’t look alike.”
“Well, we do have different dads.” You shrugged. Having different fathers was a touchy subject between you and Dustin. He didn’t like the idea of having a half-sibling and he made it known to you. After a few moments of silence, Eddie spoke up.
“Hey, how long are you here for?”
“Until next Saturday, then I have to catch my flight back to New York.”
“We should hang out before you leave.” He said, sounding a little less confident. You weren’t entirely sure you wanted to hang out with Eddie since you two just met and he was different than most guys you knew. But, you didn’t have any friends in Hawkins and Eddie was cute, so you decided to accept his invite.
“Sure. When do-” Before you could say another word, the front door burst open, causing Eddie to literally jump out of his seat. Dustin held the door open as he tried to catch his breath.
“Eddie, I’m so sorry I’m late! I got stuck talking to Mr. Carter about my science project.”
“It’s alright. Your sister is good company.” He smiled at you with a wink, causing your lips to tug into a smile.
“Half-sister. I’m sorry if she said anything weird.”
“I don’t think she’s weird at all. In fact, we’re going to hang out tomorrow.”
“What?!” Dustin looked horrified between you and Eddie.
“Yeah, we’re going to get pizza and maybe see a movie.” You stepped closer to Eddie and gently nudged his arm. Dustin’s face managed to look even more terrified while you and Eddie grinned.
“You can’t hang out with my friend!”
“Why not?” You asked, tilting your head towards Eddie.
“Yeah, why not?” Eddie echoed.
“Because you’re my sister and you’re my friend. It just can’t happen!”
“Well, it’s happening.” You retorted with a smirk.
“I can’t wait for you to go back to New York. Eddie, let’s go to my room and talk D&D.” Your brother stomped past the two of you, looking livid. Dustin stopped halfway down the hall when he realized Eddie wasn’t behind him.
“I’ll be right there, Dustin.” Your brother let out a frustrated sigh and slammed the bedroom door behind him.
“I’m pretty sure he’s mad.” Eddie whispered with a knowing smile.
“He’ll get over it.” You shrugged.
“You know, we don’t have to hang out tomorrow if you don’t want to. I was just trying to mess with Dustin.” Eddie said, nervously rocking on his heels.
“I want to. You seem cool.” Your response made Eddie’s face light up.
“Let me guess, you thought I was going to be mean and scary?” Eddie stuck his tongue out and put his fingers by his head to look like horns. You playfully rolled your eyes, not wanting to admit how stupid and cute he looked.
“More like weird and annoying.” You said playfully, making Eddie’s smile soften.
“I’m glad you don’t think I’m weird and annoying.” Eddie took a small step towards you and took your hand into his.
“There’s still time to change my mind.” You both smiled at one another. For a moment, you thought about kissing Eddie, but you held off. You were going to make him work for it.
“Eddie!” Dustin yelled loud enough to echo through the whole house. Eddie let out a sigh and rolled his eyes.
“I’m going to go talk to Dustin before he has a total meltdown.”
“Too late for that. I’ll be out here if you get tired of him.” You gave Eddie’s hand a squeeze before dropping it.
“Me, tired of Dustin Henderson? Never.” He scoffed.
Eddie gave you one more smile before walking down the hall to Dustin’s room. You waited until you heard the bedroom door close before allowing yourself to smile from ear to ear. Maybe Spring Break wouldn’t be so boring with Eddie Munson around.
