Hello everyone,

If you haven’t heard, there’s going to be a nationwide test in United States. According to this article:

Nationwide Alert System Test on October 4, 2023

The Federal Emergency Management Agency and Federal Communications Commission will be conducting a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) system on Wednesday, October 4th at 11:20 AM local time. The purpose of the test is to ensure that the systems continue to be effective means of warning the public about emergencies and disasters. The test messages will display in either English or Spanish depending on the language settings of the wireless device.

EAS messages are transmitted through radio and television with an alert tone or scrolling text across the bottom of the screen. The EAS message will say “This is a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System, issued by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, covering the United States from 11:20 to 11:50 hours PST. This is only a test. No action is required by the public.”

WEA messages are transmitted to cell phones via cell towers and look like text messages that are accompanied by a distinct attention tone and vibration. The message will read "THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is needed."

All local radio and T.V. stations will broadcast the EAS test, and all cell phones that are on, not on airplane mode, and within range of a cell tower will receive the WEA test.

In the event the test cannot be conducted on October 4, the back-up date is Wednesday, October 11.

So, if you want to understand what's been going on at Bioware over the last decade, why Veilguard was so bad, why people are blaming EA even though it's not EA directly making each individual terrible choice that led to what we got, and why I've been predicting this since Gaider left, I'd advise checking out the Spoony review of Ultima IX: Ascension. Ultima was the top fantasy RPG franchise of the 80s/90s, developed by the studio Origin Systems. They also had the top story-driven sci-fi franchise of the time, Wing Commander. (starting to sound familiar?) These games had rich stories, drama, statements to make about war and philosophy and religion, and were the first or early to implement a lot of immersion-based features that we now consider industry standard. They also pioneered the graphical MMO, which was the "live service" of the time, and which EA started visibly shaking and drooling over once the constant income stream of "freemium" online games became apparent. This actually being wildly successful did not save them from the EA-driven issue of the top talent getting frustrated with shit management and undervaluation, and leaving the company. Origin was literally top of the heap at the time and EA ran them into the ground in the span of about a decade. And of course not just Origin Systems, this has been EA's modus operandi for as long as I can remember.

Be warned, it's 4 and a half hours long, but you can really see the full arc the studio went through, from some dude in his garage, to top of the market, to oblivion.

October 4th National Emergency Alert Test Facts. DON'T PANIC!

All wireless providers carriers and TV providers will be conducting a test Nationwide. But I want to let you guys know what to expect when this test happens. The Test will commence at 2:20PM EST. Your phone will Amit a two chime square lead tone. These tones will be a ~ 932.328 Hz and a ~ 830.609 Hz For all you music majors out there. That is a Ab and a Bb the black keys on a keyboard. The tone will sound in a certain pattern. The pattern will produce one long blast, following 3 short blasts, and the pattern will repeat three times. It will sound like this.

The message you will receive should say "THIS IS A TEST of the national wireless emergency alert systems! No action is needed." ATTENTION CONSPIRACY THEROISTS! This is only a test!! If you don't want to participate in this test. These are some things you can do. Power off your phone or put your phone in airplane mode. From what I've hear for iPhones the silence switch on the side of your phone will not silence the message. and It will still be audible. If you try to ping your phone using your apple watch and your silent function is on, it will still ping. AGAIN! This test will be for all Cellphones within range of a phone tower that is Powered "On" and not in Airplane Mode. All radios and Television Providers. Period. Just like if you were to receive and AMBER alert or Any Alerts about any severe weather or general public safety alerts. Not your Personal Computer or Laptop! This test will only last approximately 30 minutes. But you will receive the message only ONCE. For TV's and radios, the message will be broadcasted for about one minute. If you power up your cellphone after the 30 minute test. You should still NOT receive the alert!! Nothing else crazy should happen that day, we won't loose power or internet, the government is not trying take over our lives. And if you think that.. ALL INFORMATION ABOUT THIS TEST WILL BE ON FEMA'S WEBSITE!! It's against the FCC to have unauthorized signals to be transmitted from one receiver to another. All electronics and radio frequency devices must be in compliance with FCC regulations. THIS IS ONLY A TEST just like the presidential alert test that happened around the same time in the beginning of October back in 2018. For anyone else that thinks differently, I encourage you to turn off your tv's cell phones, radios, and any other communicative electronic device. Because I will be powering off my cellular devices that day as well. My thoughts. I do believe that if we don't want to be interrupted by these tests or if there were to be a real situation. We should have the right and freedom to ignore it at our own risk. This is my only take on the Government.
