My Character: Casey Cooke

Hi! I’m 29, she/her, in -5 GMT.🕊️ This is a strange request, because I’m looking for one of two characters - Kevin Wendell Crumb (and possibly other alters, depending on your comfort) from the Eastrail 177 trilogy (in particular, the movies Split, and Glass) or a Roman Godfrey. I would play Casey Cooke. 

This is marked dead dove because of the content of the movies and the TV show. I won’t list out the all triggers and dark themes that come up in the show, but what I do think that might come up are the following - CSA (referenced in Casey’s history), age gap (Casey being 19 at youngest), and power imbalance. Also, just cause I’m asking for dead dove content, I’m not interested in going full blown taboo/gory/turbo dark shit. I kinda like having some fluff and slice-of-life stuff involved between the darker themes.

For Kevin, I’d like to explore an AU. Maybe the alters are better adjusted to society. That being said, the Beast could still make an appearance. We could build up to Dennis and Patricia trying to bring him into the light - being successful or being thwarted, and what all that entails.

For Roman, this would take place after Glass and maybe in season 2 or 3 of Hemlock Grove. Casey moves to what she thinks is an innocuous town for a fresh start, and finds herself stumbling into something dark and unexplainable. Roman tries to use his charm on her, but lo and behold, she’s immune. This starts a twisted path  I love a dark romance, relationship dependency to an almost unhealthy degree, and the men that would do anything for their lady. I’d prefer to roleplay on Discord and prefer replies that are more than, like, 250 words. If this interests you, give it a like and I’ll give you a shout (in Tumblr’s DMs).

Day 11 of Rammstein's Countdown to Halloween

Tonight, Split (2016, dir. M. Night Shyamalan)

Plot: Three girls are taken and imprisoned by a man with dissociative personality disorder somewhere in a underground cellar.

Okay, now I know he gets a lot of crap sometimes and I'll admit, the live action Avatar, The Last Airbender was a hit and miss, but I actually really enjoy Shyamalan's films. I think they are creative and very intriguing to say the least.

Now, Split is a part of a trilogy known as The Unbreakable Trilogy (or Eastrail 177) which a superhero thriller/horror story that fallows a man known as Mr. Glass who goes out of his way to make superheroes, just like the comic books.

Now, despite it being a part of something bigger and don't get me wrong, it's actually on of my favourite trilogies ever, other than The Hobbit/Fellowship, haha and I actually feel that Split can be its own stand alone film. Now honestly, I think that is absolute amazing when you can a film that is a part of a franchise, let alone, the middle part of one, and stands out from the rest that really says something and I think that's all thanks to the writing and acting done here.

The writing is so powerful and really you can see that this film was written with care. There are so many great lines in here it's just wow.

The set up and design for the film just scream thriller and help set the dark undertone for the film.

Finally, the acting from the leads alone is just wow. Really, every member did an amazing job.

Ana Taylor-Joy is such a convincing final girl and to be me, she fits as one of the best scream queens ever.

James McAvoy, I just don't know where to begin. I honestly think did does NOT get enough recognition for his work, especially for this performance. The fact that he can just switch characters/personalities so seamlessly and effortlessly just blows me away. He delivers ever line with such force and grace he honestly carried this movie.

I recommend this whole trilogy, but definitely take the time to look this one over, it deserves all the attention it can get.

NtG is on indefinite hiatus due to life.

Unfortunately, it's not viable to keep paying for podcast hosting when there's nothing coming out, so I don't have anywhere for you to listen to our past episodes right now. I hope to find a hosting site that will let us post our handful of eps for posterity's sake indefinitely and for free. (Suggestions are welcome)

In the meantime, if you liked the episodes and you want more of Andromeda's style of film discourse (and squee), you might give my film blog, The Lost Title Cards a try. I actually started that before Heather and I started the podcast, and I'm thinking about returning to it.

In it, I do my usual brand of infodump: random esoteric symbolism coupled with conversational thematic discussion of my favorite things about a film or series, sometimes egregiously researched and liberally sprinkled with excessively ecstatic exhortations (a.k.a. 'squee'). And yeah, I use words like 'exhortations' and unconsciously commit allliterative crimes. I also say things like, "totally fucking awesome" and leave some offside comments in parentheses.

I'm thinking of doing a treatment--either condensing or expanding--on some of our favorite episodes (like Captain America and Spaced) in written form.

And I have a shitload of new ideas I'll eventually get around to.

It will likely be a while before I start posting new stuff. But you can check out some of my earlier posts, such as my MCU Infinity Saga Recap leading up to Infinity Wars and Endgame (I need to finish my thoughts on those last couple of films; if you're eager to see them, let me know, and I'll move them up the list), the M. Summary: Kevin's mother has damaged Dennis in a way he doesn't know how to fix. Someone new comes forth to help him. 

Content Warning: child abuse (aftermath only) finger dislocation and treatment pain, no painkillers/anaesthetic graphic depiction of first aid

Dennis slipped to huddle under the table as he listened to Kevin’s mother leave the house. He hadn’t made the kitchen clean enough. If it had been good enough she wouldn’t have done this. Now he was tasked with cleaning it properly, but he had no idea how he was meant to do that with only one hand.

His left hand was a throbbing ball of pain. He held it close to his chest to try and lessen the lines of agony running up his arm. It was no use, he would have to do something, but he had no idea what. It was hard enough just looking at his hand through tear blurred eyes. Fingers all bent and twisted at unnatural angles, if not for the pain he would have believed it was a fake hand. No real hand was meant to look like this.

Then he felt another alter brush against his mind. Dennis tried blocking them out, this was not something for Kevin or Hedwig to see, but his usual control was being undermined by the pain.

“I’m here to help, let me help.”

Help is what Dennis so desperately wanted, but it still felt like a personal failure as he shifted to let the other alter share the light with him. The pain didn’t lessen, but he lost control of his right hand as the other took it over to examine the damage.  

Dennis clenched his teeth against torturous stabs the feather light touches caused. Maybe it was the pain, but he realised he didn’t recognise this alter. Right now was he vulnerable to someone with a grudge? He didn’t always get along with everyone…

“They are mostly dislocations, you might have some fractures but I wouldn’t be able to tell without x-rays.”

“W..who are you?”

“I’m… I don’t know…I just know you need my help. We have to do this before the swelling gets worse.”

Dennis would have to trust, or continue suffering with a crippled hand…. “Do it.”

“Okay, try to relax.”

He watched as the other alter controlled their body so his left arm was braced between their legs, then he curled forward to give a clear view. Dennis was already having enough trouble holding on, there was no way he could watch this happen. Closing himself off from sight he waited breathless for the first touch, the first increase of pain. He waited, waited longer, was almost about to look when it came.

Screaming at the sudden firm grip that pulled and twisted, there was the strangest feeling of settling underneath the torment. Then another finger and another until all four were given treatment. Stress sweat ran down his face as he looked down at his hand, straight and true again. They were breathing hard, a pained whine still catching in his throat but mercifully the pain was much less. Still present, but not the level it once was.

“I need to make splints but I don’t know where the supplies are.”

Dennis held his hand to his chest and shuffled out from under the table “I can get things. What do you need for splints?”

He listened to the other list things as he stood on shaking legs, creating a mental list and prioritising a path through the house to collect the stuff. First stop would be the hall table for the masking tape, but before that,

“I didn’t know what I was going to do, so thank you, but who am I thanking?” Dennis walked slowly as he waited for an answer.

The other was quiet for a long moment before he said “You can call me Samuel.”
