As the holidays and their destination draw closer, the two find themselves falling in love while journeying towards the final confrontation with Elliot.

In case anyone is curious, about switching from kindle to kobo, I have had basically no real issues so far and have found the switch to be very worth it and I find the kobo to be a much friendlier (better UI and not constantly making me look at the store) and overall just a better device to use.
converting my kindle ebooks has not difficult at all (if you want a step by step explanation of how to do that this is the video I used) and the only books I've issues with her comics and that was just because I forgot they were a different format than text books and converted them to the wrong thing.
I like some of the short cuts on the kobo a lot and the only thing I really miss is having some sort of page number (which is very not even accurate on kindle, but I did like seeing "oh I'm on page 243 of a 500 page book") but there are other features that the kobo has that the kindle doesn't that I think make up for it. Like giving you a physical progress bar and being able to tell you how many "pages" (by which the kobo means how many time you will turn to the next screen) you have in the chapter you're on or in the book total, which will adjust for font size and whatnot
overall, glad I'm switched and I'm excited to keep using it and the writing feature more.

THE SALVATION GAMBIT IS ON SALE FOR $1.99 WHEREVER EBOOKS ARE SOLD!
A hotheaded hacker must outwit the AI at the heart of a rogue warship–turned–penal colony if she and her crew of con women want to escape with their lives in this electrifying sci-fi thriller from the acclaimed author of Bonds of Brass. “Fleet-footed, quick-witted, and beguiling, The Salvation Gambit is a good old-fashioned tale of high adventure.”—Emery Robin, author of The Stars Undying Murdock has always believed in Hark, the woman who shaped her from a petty thief and lowlife hacker into a promising con artist. Hark is everything Murdock aspires to be, from her slick fashion sense to her unfailing ability to plan under pressure. Together with Bea, a fearless driver who never walks away from a bet, and Fitz, Murdock’s infuriatingly mercurial rival who can sweet-talk the galaxy into spinning around her finger, they form a foursome with a reputation for daring heists, massive payoffs, and never, ever getting caught. Well, until now. Getting caught is one thing. Getting tithed to a sentient warship that’s styled itself into a punitive god is a problem this team has never faced before. Aboard the Justice is a world stitched together from the galaxy’s sinners—some fighting for survival, some struggling to build a civilized society, and some sacrificing everything to worship the AI at the heart of the ship. The Justice’s all-seeing eyes are fixed on its newest acquisitions, Murdock in particular. It has use for a hacker—if it can wrest her devotion away from Hark. And Murdock’s faith is already fractured. To escape the Justice’s madness, they need a plan, and Hark might not be up to the task. If Hark—brilliant, unflappable Hark—can’t plot a way out, Murdock will have to use every last trick she’s learned to outwit the Justice, resist its temptation, and get her crew out alive.
It's the steal of the century—one brisk sci-fi thriller for under two bucks. The deal is only through March 12th, so don't miss out!

Some books I’m excited to read this year:
The Poppy War, RF Kuang (absolutely loved Babel, and have had this on my tbr for years)
The Illiad and the Odyssey - probably Emily Wilson’s translation. I’m at the stage where I have learnt as much as I can about Greek mythology without reading the classics, and I’m so excited to actually delve into them
The Atlas Six trilogy, Olivie Blake. Read the first one aaaaaages ago and devoured it in practically one sitting, even more excited for the whole thing
Maybe something by Cicero - or a commentary on it. Studied him a lot in Latin classes way back and have always found his work and rhetoric fascinating.
The Lotus Empire, Tasha Suri. Some people might recall I wrote a looong review singing the praises of the Jasmine Throne, and book 2 was even better, so my hopes are high for book 3. Such fast paced writing that has you hooked, and a romance that absolutely got my flustered. And some parallels with the “purity” of women as seen in our world which oooooofff. Just go read it.
Something on linguistics- which I realise is incredibly vague but I think it’s one where I’m going to have to go to the library and see what they have there. I’d love a deep dive into Creoles. But simply an introduction to the wider field would scratch the itch in my brain
Stormlight Archive 5 - the last one of this arc - is released in December. So I’ll be enjoying a reread of the entire series (which is a lot of pages) which will be good. I honestly think that the first reread is just as enjoyable as reading something for the first time, as you can pick up so much more!
Balancing the fantasy I know I love with some more exploration- plus I know that as soon as I’m back in the library I’ll be picking up non fiction books on a eclectic mix of topics (sighs dramatically as I think about her. The library).

I'm still mostly ignoring social media while I'm on deadline but here's a quick dump of announcements!
If you're in the UK, Dragonfall is a Kindle Deal of the Day for 99p. If you've read it, I also wouldn't mind a quick review on the Big River Online site. Yes, it's better to buy indie, but sigh, the algorithm. Anyway, at the moment I'm feeling smug (smaug) that I'm briefly outselling The Hobbit.
If you're in Edinburgh, Scotland, I am chairing two upcoming events at Toppings: January 26th: Samantha Shannon for A Day of Fallen Night in paperback (whew I have so many pages to read over the next few days! So good. So long)
February 6th: Georgia Summers for her lush debut City of Stardust.
OK, bye!
