So, guess who's been watching this movie adaptation way too often as of late? I'm taking the usual moodboard-y liberties, including mixing in some stuff from the book and the movie adaptation and keeping them at their ages from the show (and change their roles in society up as well...) Also, just imagining Oliver getting to speak with his actual accent lives in my head rent-free, as do many other things. But that's definitely up in the Top 10. Cheers!

Vice President Eddie Diaz could not be any more excited to attend the wedding of his friend Chimney and Princess Madeleine, Maddie for short. Well, he could be a bit happier, if Prince Evan, Maddie's brother, did not attend. He can't stand the guy ever since they met at a climate conference years ago. Eddie just doesn't have the patience to deal with entitled rich boys the likes of Prince Evan. After all, Prince Evan's only achievement in life seems to be to have a new girl every other week to have his picture on the front page of every tabloid there is.

While Eddie will insist that Prince Evan started this, he winds up having some part in what later spreads across social media as #cakegate. Which means the Vice President of the United States and the Prince of England are caught on camera, covered in cake, in Buckingham Palace, at a royal wedding.

Like winning re-election for President Robert "Bobby" Nash wasn't hard enough as it is. To relieve the situation, Eddie is stuck flying down to London for several photo ops to sell the story that him and Prince Evan are year-long friends. After all, alliances with Britain will be important, moving forward in Bobby's campaign.

Though the more time he's forced to spend with Prince Evan, the less he seems like the guy who was being such a jerk to him at that climate conference years ago. In fact, he seems like a genuinely good person. Who could have guessed?

While Eddie will insist that the prince enlisting MI6 to get his personal phone number, it does amuse him that Prince Evan seemingly wants to stay in touch. Over the next couple of months, the two wind up messaging each other almost daily. And to his even greater surprise, Eddie finds himself opening up to this man more than he's opened up to anyone ever since his wife passed away.

Prince Evan, or "Buck" as only friends get to call him, turns out to be anything but the persona portrayed by the Palace as well as the tabloids. Sure enough, he is a flirt, but a lot of his bravado covers up a rather insecure person who feels like the weight of the world is resting on his shoulders. Though the moment he is just with Eddie or Christopher, Buck seems perfectly at peace.

And strangely enough, Eddie does as well. After everything that's happened, he struggled trusting people with his son - and with himself. But with Buck, it's shockingly easy.

But things get complicated fast at the new year's party hosted at the White House. Because Eddie was not prepared for only just a second that Buck would end up kissing him.

And he did not expect to end up liking it.

Because he most definitely thought he was straight.

But after a few very awkward conversations with his friends, Eddie starts to realize that his actual sexual orientation may have been one of those other things he has since repressed. Who would have thought?

Buck is mortified at first, as he did not intend to confess his feelings for Eddie. But when they see each other again and Eddie kisses him back like that, Buck starts to believe that Eddie actually likes him back.

As both do not want a coming out just yet, considering their current situations as public figures, the two promise to keep things "casual". This arrangement works for a while, or so it would seem. Because it gets hard to stay "casual" when you start to care about someone so very deeply.

Buck makes some shocking discoveries surrounding his brother Daniel, which sheds a very different light on what he thought was his "destiny" and why his parents are acting that distantly towards him. To support Buck, Eddie invites him over to Los Angeles - where he normally lives, if not for his current political duties calling him to Washington. He wants to be there for Buck, and hopes that spending quality time with Christopher is going to get Buck out of his own head.

The plan proves to be a disaster, though. Buck spending a day "incognito" at the pier with Christopher results in both of them getting caught up in a tsunami. While both thankfully survive the natural disaster mostly unharmed, Buck is livid in the aftermath. He is convinced that he lost Christopher and thus failed him and Eddie.

Eddie draws very different conclusions after the event. After nearly losing both Christopher and Buck, Eddie is done being afraid of what other people - including his family - may think about him and his sexual orientation. He makes plans to bring Buck to Texas with him, to get to know his family, and to come out to them. And to make it clear that he is serious about wanting a relationship with Buck, as he has since fallen in love with him.

Just as Eddie is about to profess his feelings, Buck flees the scene and flies back to London. He refuses to talk to Eddie after that. But Eddie is not willing to give up just yet. So Eddie takes Christopher with him on his last-minute trip to London. Buck is in shock when he sees the two basically storming a castle to see him. Eddie confronts him about rushing off and ghosting him. Buck tries to act the part, but Eddie has since understood that Buck is just putting up a facade.

Buck eventually drops the act. More than anything, he wants to spend his life with Eddie and Christopher. He simply didn't dare to think that he could, given his role in life, and the fact that he still blames himself for what happened during the tsunami.

The two eventually reconcile, now sure of each other's true feelings for one another.

But just as they are about to get their lives back together and plan for a future together, chaos strikes when news start to spread about their relationship. Buck is yet again terrified, as the journalist running most of the stories is Taylor Kelly, an ex he thought he could trust in. And now it may cost Eddie his career, Bobby his re-election, Maddie's freedom away from the palace to find happiness with Chimney, and Buck the future he finally dared to fight for...

Buck smeared the blood on Eddie’s chin, taking his thumb to his own mouth and sucking. “You look like sex.”

Eddie’s chest puffed up, feeling himself harden on his pants. Again. “We should fuck, then.”

It’s was an invitation, but it had a twinge of need. Buck pushed himself off the rusty counter, towering over his lover. At this time of night, the one flicking light on their basement was enough to keep him awake, although he hadn’t slept in days. “Are you asking or are you telling me?”

Eddie took a step, pulling the dagger out of his back pocket swiftly. Buck was talented, but he was skilled. He pressed it to Buck’s neck, prompting a smirk out of him. “I don’t believe I ask much of anything these days, I just say what I want and I get it.”

“And what is it, then?” he teased, kicking Eddie’s ankle with the heel of his right foot, so he’d fall a few centimeters shorter. “What is it you want?”

For the first time in months, Eddie looked hesitant, his gaze faltering. After everything they had done, Buck couldn’t imagine nor fathom a thing he’d be embarrassed to request.

“I want you to fuck me with your gun.”

Buck’s eyes glimmered.

Buddie Moodboard - Criminal Minds AU

So yeah, I've started rewatching that show. And of course, Buddie jumped right back into my face and wouldn't let go until I moodboarded this. So... the moodboards have won yet again. Anyway, hope you enjoy. Cheers!

Looking back, Eddie Diaz never thought he'd join the Behavioral Analysis Unit of the FBI. After his time in the war, he took a long time, figuring out where to fit in, what to do with his life now that he is out of the military. So no, becoming an FBI agent, moving to Los Angeles to join the BAU sub-branch there, as a single dad, and to dive into dangerous situations on the daily is not the first choice that comes to mind. Less so if you asked his parents.

But there is only looking forward, so Eddie is taking his chances with the team under the lead of Special Agent Robert "Bobby" Nash. While everyone on the team is undoubtedly capable and undeniably nice to him upon his first day, one of the agents just returned from some time off seems less than pleased. In his opinion, they don't need anyone else on the team.

It doesn't take a profiler to figure out that the guy's got the heart in the right place, just a bit afraid of change, of people leaving – and someone allergic to being called by his first name. Though after their first together, Eddie and Buck don't just find a common ground, it doesn't take them long to develop a strong friendship.

One of the odd things about being surrounded by profilers is that it becomes all the harder to keep your private life private. Not only do you spend so many hours together, but you are surrounded by people whose job it is to figure other people out. So it's hardly surprising to anyone that each of the team has their very personal demons haunting them: Be it having lost loved ones to unsubs they didn't catch in time, or having found themselves in an unsub's hands and be saved by people of just that profession.

Buck also has his special reasons for being there. And as Eddie finds out early on, this job is so much more to him than a job is to most other people. He considers it his true purpose, more so because he feels like he owes it to Bobby that he ever got there. He used to be a regular police officer who just "tagged along", until Bobby consulted on a murder that happened in the town he was stationed at. Bobby picked up on Buck's innate talent to get inside an unsub's head and his dedication to the cause. Or as Bobby puts it:

"You can teach crafts and skills. But you can't teach talent and attitude. And Buck's always had both of these things."

So Bobby gave him his card, told him to try out for the BAU's special program. And Buck did. While it's taken a lot of effort, he eventually managed to join the team. Which is why he is not only protective of his friends at the BAU, for him, this job is his life. And he will defend that till last.

Buck's life is turned upside-down more than once when his sister Maddie steps back into his life. A few years back, he wouldn't have noticed that something is off, but as a profiler, he knows. He is no longer the kid stuck in a loveless home, believing every soothing word his sister says to keep him out of harm's way. This time, he vows to himself, he will protect her from her abusive husband, he will make her stay. So he helps her land a job at the FBI, filling the empty space his ex Abby left.

Things seem to be moving all the right directions once Maddie breaks out of her shell and dares to fall in love again. Chimney and her are as happy as they can be. That is, until Doug comes back, nearly kills Chimney, and abducts Maddie. The team races to save her, which, thankfully, they manage.

Though this is far from the only crisis the team has to face. One particular event changes everything for Buck and Eddie. After Eddie nearly dies at the hands of a sniper, nothing is as it was between them. Buck doesn't just feel like he failed his best friend. He feels like the feelings he's been trying to put off, those romantic feelings for Eddie that have no space in their world together, are shattered like glass, too.

In the aftermath of the shooting, Eddie quits the BAU. First for his son's sake. Later on, actually for his own. Eddie finally has to reckon with his past traumas, all the things he pushed down over the years. And he can't do that while working a job that forces him into swallowing it all down.

Though Eddie misses his job. He misses the team. He misses having Buck's back. Sure, he is around, but it's not the same as it used to. To top it all, Buck seems to be withdrawing more and more from them for reasons Eddie can't yet fathom. Eddie is hesitant about returning, though, fearing that Christopher won't take it well. After all, he nearly lost him once, and the fear of losing his father is all too painful and all too real in the line of work they do.

The whole world stops turning for Eddie one evening, though. Because he has to watch footage of Buck bleeding out on a street, held hostage by a kid seeking revenge on Bobby, with a suicide belt on and the trigger in his hand. It is then that Eddie decides to follow his heart and join the team as they race to rescue Buck...

“The kids need a Santa, babe. C’mon, I already told my boss I knew someone who could fill in. It’s only for three days and we get paid a nice amount.” I pleaded with Eddie as we walked into the house.

“No. I am not about to be a jungle gym for a group of snot-nosed kids.” Eddie turned towards me. “And how would you think their parents would feel knowing the town’s freak is their children’s Santa?” He said with a pained voice. I gently held his face in my hands, looking up at him.

“My love, you are not the town’s freak. Yes, you are different, but not a freak. And if you care about others looking at you like that, then this is a chance to show them they’re wrong. You’re a kind-hearted, loving, caring, compassionate man. Your taste in music and aesthetic has nothing to do with your personality being different. You are who you are with or without metal.” I pecked his lips softly. “If you decide to do this, I’ll be right there with you.” 

“You will?” He looked down, meeting my eyes.

“Of course, I’m Mrs. Clause. I can’t disappoint.” I winked walking away from him into his bedroom.

“I’M IN!!” Eddie yelled following me.

“So, how long am I Santa for?” Eds adjusted his suit.

“The rest of today, tomorrow until like four in the afternoon, and then Christmas Day Parade. That’s in the morning and only like two hours. A lot of families come out for the parade, so most of the money is earned there. We’ll be sitting in the back of a 1961 red Cadillac convertible. Just sit and wave for two hours.” I said, helping fix his beard.

“How much are we making?” He placed his hands on my waist.

“Total for the three days? Uhm… Roughly around $60 to $75.” I said calculating it in my head.

“Ok. Let’s go be Mr. and Mrs. Clause.” Eddie smiled, I chuckled pecking his lips, and laughed harder having to kiss him through a fake beard.

The kids loved Eddie. The parents had no idea who he was. They would’ve never suspected that the mall’s Santa is the town’s “freak”. He laughed with the kids, tickled them if they were shy, and told them it would be okay if they were scared or crying. Eddie would never admit it to anyone else, but he had a really good time. It was the first time I saw Eddie enjoying himself besides smoking, doing his campaigns, and his band. He would rail against being with kids and having to deal with them, but being a co-parent to the rugrats it wasn’t as bad. 

“Hey babe, what is your boss’s name?” Eddie asked.

“Mr. Diaz. Why?” I said helping him pack up for the day.

“I want to sign a contract for next year. I really enjoyed today and it warms my heart to see the kids laugh and smile.” He said. I stopped what I was doing and smiled wide.

“That’s great to hear, baby. I’ll sign one with you.” I said.

“The mall’s Mr. & Mrs. Clause.” Eddie chuckled, kissing me softly.

Street dancer Eddie au got more and more spicy. Here more Buck in his wet for Eddie stage (I mean we all are horny for Eddie Diaz, aren't we?)

“Hi, everyone. I’ve just been challenged to show how I can dance, so If you don't mind, I'll put on a little show,” Eddie gives the microphone to someone in the crowd, after which he nods to the girl and “Beautiful liars” by Shakira and Beyonce starts to play. 

The whole bar shouts something encouraging and many whom Buck recognized by the call from the rehearsal are wolf-whistling from the side of Eddie, who as soon as the first chords of the song start, began to move his hips so that Buck swears all the blood in his body begins its way down. 

Because if Eddie's walk was inappropriate for the audience, then it's, it's just sex on stage. 

Eddie's body methodically moves to the music, so that all the muscles in his body magnificently shimmer from one movement to another. Buck is fascinated by how beautifully and aesthetically and so easily Eddie can move his body creating intricate movements, so that his waist attracts the eye, just asking to put hands on it, and his hips demand to grab them and leave marks. 

In the second verse, Eddie, like a real stripper, charmingly takes off his top, pretending that he got hot, but it’s who Buck gets hot. The guy doesn't even have six, but a whole eight pack. Buck has only seen this in porn. 

Eddie continues to dance clearly perfectly following the rhythm, but all Buck hears is the accelerated beating of his heart from the picture of strong tanned muscular shoulders turning into strong arms and a narrow waist, an eight that requires Buck's tongue to move so beautifully on it when Eddie makes turns. And oh this V-line that leads to Eddie's pants.

Buck never thought he could get so turned on by just a picture of someone dancing, but his jeans have become a little too tight, so he is grateful to his sister for choosing the white T-shirt that hides his bulge enough so that no one can notice how interested he is in dancing. Not that anyone was looking at him right now. All eyes in the bar are on Eddie.

Buck’s lips are dry and he swears there is a real desert in his mouth now, so he takes a sip of beer but regrets it when Eddie starts dancing the last chorus with a dance from the clip. Buck chokes a little.

Eddie’s strong hands move so elegantly, and his waist stands out even more and Buck seriously wonders if a person can come from the way he watches another dance without touching himself at all. Because it seems to him that he can do it now.

But the worst thing, Eddie keeps his gaze on him clearly seeing how Buck can't maintain eye contact for more than two seconds, constantly lowering it, not wanting to miss even one magical movement of sexy hips. 

But for his luck the song ends and Eddie puts on the tank top back and comes back to him. He holds Buck in his hand.

“C’mon, time for your first lesson,” Eddie's breathing hasn’t almost shortened at all and Buck wonders how strong Eddie's endurance is.

“I-i don’t think I can move like you,” Buck will just stumble over his feet and make a laughing stock of himself. “I'm really bad.”

“Did you dance in clubs?”

“Yes.”

“Then you can do it. Just trust me. I promise we will not do something too complicated. Just moving to the rhythm of the music. And I still need to see how you move your hips. It's not fair you've already seen how I can, but I haven't,” Eddie looks around his whole body with a hot gaze, and Buck surrenders to hot brown eyes. 

Maybe he'll regret it, but right now all he wants is to snuggle up to Eddie, and then drag him away from the crowd and fulfill his dreams of his hands on his gorgeous body. Unfortunately, only his hands, because he needs his voice and ass tomorrow in the afternoon, replacing a guy from another shift. But maybe Eddie will want to do it again. Buck will try very very hard.

My top ten characters of 2023 (2023 Character Wrap)

Alex Claremont-Diaz, Red, White & Royal Blue: Listen, who couldn't love Alex? Both book and movie him are treasures but I'm mainly focusing on movie Alex. Like...who said he was allowed to be that pretty?! He's so aesthetically pleasing it's almost annoying. I love him very much.

Henry Fox-Mountchristen-Windsor(Hanover-Stuart-Fox), Red, White & Royal Blue: You can't have one without the other! Henry is just so precious to me, book and movie Henry both. But movie Henry's pathetic wet cat energy has capitivated me. What can I say, I love big sad eyes. He's babygirl.

Nick Nelson, Heartstopper: Listen...listen. I love 'em all. I do! The main group of this show are all my children, and I adore them. Charlie and Tara a lil' bit more. But Nick has a special place in my heart that I can't explain. I love him so much.

Jesper Fahey, Shadow & Bone/Six of Crows: I only got into the show and books this year (yes I'm devastated it's gone), but they're both soooo good! And Jesper is just the best, like, he's so funny and complex and badass. I love him very much.

Wylan Hendriks, Shadow & Bone/Six of Crows: They're cutie pies, book and show Wylan. They're also dangerous badasses and sassy to boot. I love them both, but I fell in love with show Wylan first and honestly, I'll never look back. How can I.

15th Doctor, Doctor Who: So far we have had about 20 minutes of the 15th Doctor, and I am already in love with them. IN LOVE. I just...I am so ready for their series, and I can't WAIT for the Christmas special!

Muriel, Good Omens: How could anyone hate this bean?! Honestly a fantastic addition to the cast of characters in this show, and definitely a breakout star to me! I hope Muriel returns for season 3 because they truly were a delight, anytime they were on screen.

Jaskier, The Witcher: In it's last season (to me), The Witcher finally decided to give Jaskier the respect he deserves. As always, his songs were fantastic and his character being in it prompted me to watch spin-off Blood Origin (which I loved!). Jaskier has been my character since I began watching The Witcher, and he remains my character.

Eddie Kaspbrak, IT franchise: Fell deep back into my IT hyperfixation and actaully managed to write loads of my fix-it fic I started back in 2019. Both young Eddie from 2017 IT and adult Eddie from the 1990 movie are my babies, I adore them both. Eddie Kaspbrak is just such a fun and interesting character, especially to write!

Inej Ghafa, Shadow & Bone/Six of Crows: Yes I know, the 3rd character from this show/book series. But I can't help it, I only discovered it this year! Inej is a wonderfully complex, tragic yet strong character, and I wish the show had time to explore her and her story more. She's fabulous, and brought to life so wonderfully by Amita Suman.

3. Least favorite canon thing about this character? He is terrible to the women he dates. He's not mean, he's not abusive. He is nothing but compassionate and kind. But he is terrible to them. You know what I mean.

14. Assign a fashion aesthetic to this character. Either lumberjack chic or elevated streetwear would be nice.

24. What other character from another fandom of yours that reminds you of them? Eddie Diaz and Tim Bradford from The Rookie would hate each other because of how similar they are. Lol

Buddie Moodboard - Service Dog Trainer AU

AKA another AU that wouldn't leave my wicked mind, after Hoover stole all of our hearts. So yeah, it had me thinking... what if Hoover's actually Buck's dog? And what if he trained service dogs? And what if that's how he meets (and falls in love with) Eddie??? And now... here we are. Cheers!

Eddie doesn't know what he got himself into. He never should have trusted Frank to hook him up with a trainer for service dogs. His psychologist said that a dog might help him deal with his panic attacks that became more and more frequent recently.

Well, what Frank forgot to mention is that the trainer is unique, to say the least. Eddie thought he'd get to work and get on with it. Instead, Buck makes him sit on the ground for hours, so dogs may lick his face as they please - if he's lucky. Or he comes up with something else that has Eddie wonder why on earth he'd spend money on that guy.

But he's doing it. He needs to get this fixed, after all. He can't scare Christopher with his panic attacks again. Not happening.

Though, in Buck's defense, Eddie greatly appreciates that Buck chooses dogs from local shelters to train to become service dogs. Or the "(under)dogs", as he referse to them occasionally.

At the very least, McGruff is not as gruffy as Eddie feared he'd be. And so, he now has a dog to train to help him deal with his anxiety, apparently. At least Christopher is thrilled about it, so that's a plus.

It is only a short time later that Eddie makes the acquaintance of Buck's own dog. Hoover, a menace on four paws trashing his owner's apartment whenever he isn't the center of attention. Oddly enough, Buck is perfectly chill about it. He finds it all kinds of endearing, whereas Eddie has to think hard whether he can still get a refund.

But against all those many odds, McGruff doesn't just grow on him. Eddie has to recognize that training with the dog, spending that much time with a being that will just sit there and listen to you, no matter what you say, no matter what you might be afraid of saying out loud... it does something for him. It really does.

But then his past comes back to haunt Eddie, when he reaches out to some of the people he served with, as part of his therapy. Because it is only then that he finds out that the people he saved... he didn't save. They are all dead. And it all comes crashing down around him.

It is Buck and McGruff who manage to snap him out of it eventually. And Eddie has to recognize that he's not fine. And that he won't be fine if he continues as he did. He can't do therapy for his son's sake, to be "fixed" for his son. He has to treat this seriously. He has to learn to live with it. And as it turns out, he has people who are happy to support him throughout.

While he knows he still has a long road ahead of him, Eddie feels like he is finally starting to make some progress. He wants to move forward again, after what he went through in the military, after Shannon died, after he found himself drowning on dry land.

Though the closer he takes a look at himself, the more Eddie begins to discover about himself. Including some rather uncomfortable truths about his growing feelings for a certain dog trainer with the goofiest smile in the world.

Then again, Eddie feels like he doesn't really know Buck as well as he'd need to, in order to know what his feelings truly are for him. Buck wears his emotions on his sleeves, alright. But there are things he won't speak about, when he only seems to be fine.

Eddie finds his suspicions confirmed when he invites Buck to a family gathering his aunt is hosting. Christopher falls into the pool by accident. Buck instantly dives in to rescue Eddie's son. But once the boy's out of the water, Eddie has to fear that Buck might drown in the pool himself as he can't seem to move.

The only thing that snaps Buck out of it is... Hoover. It is then that Eddie starts to understand that he is not the only one benefiting from Buck's natural talent at training dogs. Hoover is Buck's own service dog, even though he normally claims that he isn't.

In the aftermath, Buck confirms Eddie's suspicions. He had to stop working as a firefigher because of the trauma he suffered during the tsunami some time back. Buck was there as a civilian and tried to help people. He'd managed to get a good number of them on a ladder truck. Then he saw that boy struggling to stay afloat. He jumped right back in. But just as he was about to reach him, another wave hit, swept the boy away, and tilted over the ladder truck. Some couldn't move out of the way fast enough and were pulled under by the truck's weight.

Buck tried to get back to the job. He passed all evaluations and did fine for a while. But then he got triggered on a call, and he had a panic attack. Buck quit his job after that. He couldn't stand the thought that someone might have to suffer for him "not being good enough" at saving people. So he sought out ways to fix himself. And along the way, he found another way to help people.

And some dogs, too.

Following those revelations, Buck and Eddie feel closer than ever. As time progresses, Eddie feels more and more confident in his feelings for Buck. He is sure that he wants that man to have a place in his life, and not just at the margins. Thankfully, any ethical conflicts of a coffee date can be ruled out after a very awkward moment.

And so, the two dare to embark (pun only intended by Buck) on a new journey towards healing - by doing it together.

I don't really do inspiration saturday because mostly I just write with no plan but since this is technically a song fic (very technically) (snippets here here and here) I think that sharing the song counts kspakapakapaka so here's a live version (because 5sos live is the superior experience and it's the mp3 I have on my phone since this song is not available worldwide) of the song that started it all and it's the love of my love.

The place was beautiful at night. Breathtaking really. There weren't enough lights around so they could actually see some stars for a change, the moon, not quite full but almost there, was reflecting on the waves that looked black and lighting up the night just enough. And Eddie looked beautiful under it. He was quite a vision with flushed cheeks, tousled hair that was just getting long enough to look messy, and that smile. At that moment it felt like Buck would do anything to keep him laughing like that.
