Here is an outtake/snip from a fic I didn't end up writing for the Steter Valentine's exchange! It was about crow shifter Stiles, and Peter and the surviving Hales coming to stay with him and the sheriff after the fire.

“You know, all that super rigid pack hierarchy stuff is bullshit anyway,” Peter hears Stiles say, and without even thinking, a growl builds in his throat. The teenager just rolls his eyes at Peter’s antics, though. “See what I mean?”

“Derek and I called this meeting because there is something that we want to do. And announcing it in a Pack meeting is the traditional way to do so. Since we want to do it right and have it not affect the Pack we decided to follow tradition, at least initially.” Stiles announces, causing Theo to raise an eyebrow at the vague phrasing.

“We have taught you some things about courting, but this will be the first time you see it in practice. Stiles and I are going to attempt to court one of the members to join our relationship. Which is normal and acceptable in Pack structure.” Derek continues where Stiles left off, once more causing Theo to raise an eyebrow at the couple.

“Who exactly are you planning on courting?” Theo asks despite himself, too curious not to ask.

“You, silly. Who else would it be?” Stiles responds.

This was in my WIPs and I'm not sure what it was going to be, but it never developed into anything more than this... I like the opening in a cliched way.

The night that Stiles arrives at The Hale house there is a storm. Peter watches, silently, weary, as Talia leads him into the house, wrapping him in a blanket and offering him a cup of cocoa, which Stiles accepts but never drinks. Instead, he sits on the couch and stares blankly into the middle distance, nothingness where pain should be etched across his face. Stiles can’t be much older than ten, about the same age as Cora… Peter’s been observing the boy for a while now, holding himself on the periphery as Stiles plays with his nieces and nephew. There’s something about him, something that puts all of Peter’s sense on edge, but he can’t put his finger on it.

“The alpha also killed a couple of people. Mauled them. The cops ended up blaming the attacks on mountain lions, even though the injuries didn’t match that theory. There wasn’t really anything else they could do. It was really hard on my dad.”

“Your dad?”

“He’s the sheriff. Things have been a lot better now that he’s in the know. Back then, the only adults we knew who knew about any of this were Deaton and the Argents, so you can imagine how well that went.”

Derek hadn’t been slouching, but now he’s sitting up a lot more straight.

“There are Argents in Beacon Hills?” he says, voice strained.

“There were Argents in Beacon Hills. Now there’s just an Argrnt in town. That change is part of this whole story. Don’t worry, Scott has a truce with Chris and I watch him carefully, like the suspicious bastard I am.”

Derek nods. “Dealing with the supernatural tends to make people that way.”

“Oh no,” Stiles says, feeling inexplicably cheerful. “I’ve always been this way. It’s just easier to prove people are out to get us now that we’re talking physical harm. High school drama became a lot more urgent when things started trying to kill us.”

Derek does not seem to be cheered up by this information. In fact, his eyebrows are scrunched together and he looks like he’s eaten a lemon and hated it. Unlike Stiles who actually enjoys eating lemons. Hmm, his adderall may be wearing off. Anyway, Derek looks really cranky.

“You look really cranky,” Stiles says. Sometimes he has to state the obvious.

“Why did you say that like things trying to kill you is normal?”

“I mean, I don’t know if I would say it’s normal, but it’s happened a lot. I thought that’s just what supernatural life is like. It’s gotten better the last few years. No one we know well has died since All—since our senior year.”

Derek gives him a look that says he caught that slip, but he’ll let it go for now. Stiles thinks about taking the out, but decides he’d better tell him. It has to come out sometime.

“I’ll get back to that in a minute. Where was I?”

“The alpha was killing people and mountain lions were being slandered.”

You get something a bit random that I wrote just to write something that day 😂 Stiles, sharing my struggles and all that 😂 I actually have a vague idea with a knitting/crocheting Stiles I might put this in eventually, but at least currently it was just some finger exercises! xD

Stiles sat at his desk and stared at his laptop screen. His fingers tapped against the keyboard keys without pressing them, sending a semi-rhythmical clattering into the stillness of the room. His brain just… didn‘t want to cooperate right now. He stared at the words on the screen, his eyes now and then flicking from the almost empty document page to the browser tabs visible in his taskbar, and leaned back with a sigh. He needed to do something. But more often than not his „solutions“ didn‘t help his concentration or focus and more often than not redirected both to something else entirely. And sometimes the Lo-Fi music, headphones, background videos worked like a charm and something in his brain saved that success and tried to convince him that it would work every time after, too. And then there was the stuff that really did help… but at the same time blocked his abilities to do anything else at all. Like crocheting or other needle work. Helped to focus his mind every time like a charm. Too bad that he needed his hands for the needlework so he couldn‘t do whatever he actually had wanted to do. Or interesting videos that helped him focus but actually blocked his ability to write words and string sentences together. The same with reading or audio books. Why did he have the best thoughts and ideas while consuming other stuff? And WHY was it gone almost as soon as he tried to interpret and work his own ideas into things? … Alright he knew the answer. He sighed.
