Symbruary Day 5: Unusual Pairs
After a break-out at the Fantastic Four's science lab, a mysterious, inky black symbiote has bonded with the notorious thief, Black Cat. Felicia Hardy returns home to her apartment to regroup. The newly freed symbiote broods.
A short thing inspired by @land-of-brains-and-chocolate and their Felicia/Symby propaganda, as well as that one issue of Venomverse.
The symbiote's had enough. All the sights and feelings and especially the dreadful sounds. It wrapped itself around one Felicia Hardy and decided she would be an easy enough ride out of that awful lab. But when they bonded, mind to mind, body to body, it realized–she didn't much like Peter Parker either. The, what was it–disdain? Annoyance? No, more than that. Ambivalence. Something lingering that the symbiote didn't want to touch. But it decided that made her more trustworthy than most.
Above all else, it was freedom.
It shot out a web from Felicia's wrist before she'd even had the thought. Pleasant surprise flooded her chest, and the symbiote curled away from it.
The more the symbiote thought, the more they swung over all the towering facades to some destination the symbiote didn't know, the more hesitant it became.
It hated Peter Parker. It hated him with such a passion it didn’t know it could possess. And that made it even angrier. All of this overwhelming nonsense, all at once. How could any being deal with this? How did humans ever cope?
It wanted to tear him apart. It could imagine it vividly. But Felicia–there was that strange ambivalence again. It prickled at the back of her neck, where unbeknownst to it, in its consternation, it had been squeezing rather hard.
“You alright?” Felicia asked on a downswing, only slightly out of breath. This made it twitch violently. She tried not to laugh. “This is weird. But I'm no stranger to weird in my line of work, I suppose.”
Right. Feelings. The bond. It had gotten careless. Its thoughts soured.
“Hey, I get it. First time on earth and somebody breaks your heart. I've been there. Well, I've been on earth my whole life, but I've had my heart broken enough times.” Her smile was strained. “It never gets easier, I'm afraid.”
She patted the back of her neck. The symbiote stayed very still.
“I've got an idea,” she said, letting her hand linger. “But you've gotta stick around for a little bit, okay?”
The symbiote squirmed, but acquiesced.
“Good.”
The wind whipped through her hair as she shot straight up.
***
Black Cat swung into her apartment's open window, gracefully landing on all fours.
Several small furry heads swiveled toward her at the sound. The chorus of meowing began immediately, padded feet galloping to meet her on the floor.
Felicia laughed.
“Alright, alright,” she chided. “You're not starving, I fed you an hour ago.” The cats swarmed her legs, rubbing her shins with reckless abandon. The symbiote had no idea what to make of it. The sound was nearing too close to the edge of painful, and it was half tempted to swipe at one of the creatures to get it to stop.
But the way Felicia petted their heads, practically scrubbing them, made it pause. Oxytocin flooded her system. The symbiote felt its annoyance wither away, losing its shape slightly. They were even softer than they looked. Strange.
One of the cats took advantage of Felicia's crouched position to step up on her thigh, sniffing the symbiote.
The symbiote froze, but Felicia patted its head reassuringly.
“Hey, Dexter. This is my new friend. Be nice, okay?”
Dexter, a bright orange cat, didn't seem to understand. But it didn't do more than sniff, so the symbiote relaxed.
Soft, the symbiote thought.
Felicia laughed again.
“Soft," she echoed, pinching the symbiote between her fingers. She smiled broadly, and the symbiote felt the warmth of her skin suffuse its mass.
Maybe…this wouldn’t be so bad.
Despite the lingering rage and dread, and surrounded by warm, fuzzy, bewildering aliens, it dared to hope.

Thinking about how Edge of Venomverse Infinity Comic #4 gave me any Eddie and Flash sharing panels for the first time since like April 2021 and it was... like that. My disappointment is immeasurable you guys. It's like NEGATIVE content. Jesus fuck. I know it's an AU but I'm still upset.

Characters that I think should star in a Spiderverse Fanfiction
Ok so in previous chapters I wrote about characters that Miles Morales would meet, team up with, or fight as Spider-man. Mostly Bailey Briggs aka Spider-Boy and the Gwen clones from the Spider-Gwen: Shadow Clone saga. And in some Spiderverse stories he is seen fighting the Tinkerer (Phin Mason) from the Spider-man: Miles Morales video game. However, there are many more characters in the Marvel comics that may not be as well-known, but I think should be featured in a Spiderverse fanfiction. Maybe Miles can team up with them, maybe he can fight them, the possibilities are up to you the fanfic writers. So here is a list of Marvel characters that I think should star in a Spiderverse fanfiction and why. Hope you enjoy.
1.) Ellie Ellison aka Necroko from the "Extreme Venomverse" Comics Ellie Ellison is a shy high school student who had bonded with a Venom symbiote and became a Sailor Moon-themed superhero known as Necroko. When I first discovered her, I never thought someone could look both scary and Adorable at the same time. For more information about Necroko you may check out the link below.
2.) Itsy Bitsy from the "Spider-man/Deadpool" comics Itsy Bitsy is an unnamed woman that willingly let herself become mutated with the combined abilities of Spider-man and Deadpool. Now in the original comics Itsy Bitsy almost gaslighted Spider-man into killing her which caused Deadpool to intervene and stop him. But in a Spiderverse fanfic I was thinking maybe instead Itsy Bitsy would be kidnapped, forcibly mutated, and have her mind erased. Which would then lead Miles to discover her and team up with her while trying to help discover who she used to be. As for her personality I was thinking she would be like DC Harley Quinn, Crazy but funny. For more details about Itsy Bitsy you may check out the link below
3.) Billie Morales from the Miles Morales: Spider-man comics Billie Morales is basically Miles Morales baby sister that was born when Miles is in High school. It would be interesting and fun to see how Miles tries to handle school, Spider-man and being a big brother. Plus, I'm sure the rest of the Spider-Gang would absolutely adore her, and Mayday would love to have a new playmate. See the link at the bottom for more details.
4.) New Agent Venom Variant In the Marvel Universe many people have taken up the mantle (and symbiote) of "Agent Venom" People like Flash Thompson, Eddie Brock, Anne Weying, Eugene Thompson, Even Peter Parker. But I have an idea for a new OC Agent venom and that person is Addy Brock. Now Addy Brock was a character in the "Edge of Spider-Geddon" comics. She was a student with Peni Parker and the pilot of the VEN#m suit. Unfortunately, she was killed when the VEN#M suit went rouge and consumed her along with Peni's Aunt May. I guess this was considered one of Peni's "Canon Events". It would be interesting to see how Peni would react to meeting a new Variant of her deceased friend with a perfect bond with her symbiote, since I'm going to assume Peni would have some form of PTSD with any kinds of symbiotes.
Tumblr media
5.) Gwenpool from the Gwenpool comics because why not?
Tumblr media
6.) The Guardians of the Galaxy
This one is mostly because hey, Space Adventure so why not you know?
Tumblr media
that's all I have for now. Hope you find these ideas inspiring. In the Immortal words of Stan Lee
EXCELSIOR!!!

I find the Edge of Venomverse Gwen Poole to be interesting because she is so different from any of the seven Gwen Pooles from different dimensions.
Upon landing in a comic book world, she went and got an office job. She built a secret identity. She doesn't have the confidence and the brashness that comes with the knowledge that whatever happens, this is all still fictional. Instead of being dismissed when she says they're in a fictional world, she finally has a friend who goes "oh yes, absolutely." This version of Gwen is the only one to show romantic attraction for no ulterior motives.
Now, you may say this is bad characterization (which it is) but I theorize that the Gwen we see in Venomverse is Gwen's urge to conform, taken to the max. She wants to be able to say that she could have lived a normal life. That she could've been fine like that.
And yet she's still a murderous chaotic mess of a person, despite all she's doing to fit in. Love that about her.

Yes she is. Edge of Venomverse #2, and Venomverse #4. Then Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe Again #2–4. She’s also in Spider-Man/Deadpool #42 and #47–50.
I’ll give you venomverse that’s fair I’m sorry she does have a variant if you’d like to use the mcu terminology. But like why’d you put Spider-Man and Deadpool in that same category? Did you think that’s an alternate universe??? Be so for real did you actually read it
