what is your watcher's class? how does it relate to their backstory?

Gaura is a chanter so like a bard shaped battering ram. She used to spend a lot of time as a kid in a temple dedicated to Magran in order to learn more about her "other mother" and the potential reasons why she might have given her the godlike chime. When she got fed up with Magran's silence, she just left and on that day she met a priestess of Hylea who gifted her a violin. Given that she had no real idea what to do with herself, Gaura figured she might as well learn to play the violin and then she moved on to learn chanting. Eventually that earned her a spot in the local expeditioner's guild and worked as an explorer until she left for the Dyrwood.

what are your watcher's likes and dislikes (like the ones poe2 companions have)?

Oohh this is tough, she likes a lot of things lol I'll try to limit things to 4

Likes: autonomy, levity, passion, resourcefulness.

Dislikes: zealotry, cruelty, irresponsibility, pro-Leaden Key.

how does your watcher's past life affect their current actions?

It doesn't for the most part, the Inquisitor is the Inquisitor and Gaura is Gaura, she doesn't equate herself to her soul. Still, given that her Awakening progressed quite far in PoE 1, her emotions towards Iovara are too deeply intertwined to really separate them. She can't help but love her and feel incredibly guilty for what happened to her.

Being able to speak Engwithan is also there I guess lol, she uses it a lot, it's quite the skill to have.

what does your watcher do after poe2?

For the most part, Gaura is focusing on rebuilding Caed Nua and... chilling. The events of Deadfire push her the down the path of the control freak and she needs to sort those feelings out if she were to be any help in post-Deadfire global politics without becoming a tyrant herself. Also she serves as a Watcher signal template and an Engwithan language expert for the Wheel fixing project.

i think the professor gale ending only exists cuz it was popular with fanon and larian really likes to make its fans happy and thats all they care about

imo, gale makes it quite clear he isnt suitable for teaching, at least beyond tutoring one person who he thinks is good enough and he can deal with. he literally shit talks his previous students and talks about how he didn't like teaching them. but you have potential...

yeah maybe he changed enough over however long before he got hired to be good at teaching an entire classroom of people and also not get frustrated.... maybe.................... i don't think so tho

2. What are your favorite things about the ship?

canon lebsbiab :) also honestly. i love the tragedy of it. i love how their personalities and very different moral codes kind of doomed them to fail from the start, and how nyreen can clearly see how toxic and unhealthy the relationship was while aria is definitely still hung up on her but trying to pretend she's not. it's just so so delicious and has SO much potential

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

i dont think so lol "nyreen's death is stupid she should have lived and i want her and aria to have to work together and eventually reconcile" is pretty common. on the other hand to that note i don't want them to like, immediately get back together, yaay aria has been influenced back to Goodness and is going to be nice now so they can fix this up with one or two conversations and then be cool pirate queens together :). no no. i want them to work for it. i want aria to want to immediately get back with her, but nyreen's had Character Growth and doesn't need her, and they have to actually slowly grudgingly learn to meet each other on equal ground and work through what happened and put in the actual effort and work and character growth to be willing to admit they still have feelings for each other and want to make it work this time. it's important to me.

I'm a big space fan, and Mass Effect is one of my favorite games, but a lot of stuff did not age well and I've been craving a similar sci-fi RPG. And honestly, a part of me hoped that Starfield would come at least a little close, but after the absolute disaster that was Fallout 76 (which people conveniently forgot because it's Bethesda) that hope was squashed.

I still wanted to give it a fair shot, but it was just so. boring. Even my love for space and sci-fi wasn't enough for me to continue playing this slop. And I even like what people call the NASAcore aesthetic. Movies like Interstellar and The Martian had that slightly more futuristic NASAcore aesthetic and they still made it more appealing than Starfield.

Everything about Starfield is so bland and the *alien* planets look so boring. Hell, ME1 had more interesting and varied planets back in 2007. Even Andromeda had more variation and that game was riddled with development issues and tons of cut content and yet, the exploration was way more fun. Bethesda somehow made the one cyberpunk planet look boring too, and as you know I am also a fan of the cyberpunk genre. Call me dramatic but this game is not only a letdown but also an insult to me as a sci-fi fan.

Not to mention the writing is scared of being "offensive" that it ended up being milquetoast like the rest of the game. They tried appealing to everyone and ended up appealing to no one (except the hardcore Bethesda fans who've been huffing huge amounts of copium)

Sorry for the long rant, but Starfield just upsets me lol
