He didn’t think about it before. His hands or Edwin’s hands, that wasn’t a thing, because who goes around thinking about what their or their mates’ hands look like? Hands don’t matter, hands are there to be used, they’re there for a purpose; to carry things or draw someone closer by the neck, to aim a punch or swing a weapon, to flick through records or snap your fingers or grab a chalk stick and draw a cartoonish cock on the class blackboard and make people laugh. Charles never used to think about hands, his or Edwin’s, and then suddenly he did. And then he thought about them a lot.

Charles has a thing for Edwin’s hands, and finally does something about it.

So in episode 4 of dead boy detectives people are being lured into the water by loved ones voices.

Do we Charles and Edwin would hear each other’s voice?

I think they absolutely would.

I don’t think Charles would hear his parents voices for obvious reasons. And I doubt Edwin would hear his parents voices as they likely didn’t treat him well either.

Edwin could possibly hear Nikos voice but given that he’s I love with Charles I think that’s more likely.

Charles could potentially hear Crystals voice but he clearly has a deeper friendship with Edwin so I think it’s more likely he’d hear Edwin’s voice.

Crystal hears her mums voice in the episode, but Niko doesn’t hear a voice. If she were to hear a voice I like to think it would be her dads voice. If not then I think she would hear her mum’s or Edwin’s.

something probably obvious that’s been eating at my brain a lot is that charles asked to go with edwin.

he’d known this boy for a couple of hours at most and had heaven itself presented to him and chose to stay with edwin. we know this.

BUT it’s important to note that charles didn’t reject heaven over an afterlife as a detective. he didn’t snub the afterlife over a sense of purpose or duty, over the promise of adventure and fulfillment. he could not possibly have known that this choice would send him down a mystery-solving path. all he knew was that he wanted to stay with edwin.

charles did not choose an afterlife as a dead boy detective in that moment. charles chose an afterlife as edwin’s best friend. in a heartbeat.

Dead Boy Detectives is all fun and games until you realize Charles and Edwin are going to outlive Crystal. She’s going to grow older, maybe settle down, face the hardships of life, age until she can’t remember her loved ones names and the boys will be forever 16 years old.

Because Charles’s gesture is so easy, calm and full of confidence, that just screams:

I am ready to face everything, even the end of my existence, as far as I am holding your hand.

can we just please talk about how during the confession scene, when charles first responds to edwin saying "i love you", he replies with an immediate "i love you too. can we go now?" like. the implication that they have said "i love you" to each other before and how they can respond to it without batting an eye is making me go insane

I know episode 7 is already sad enough but…

When Charles asks Edwin why he doesn’t fall through the floor and Edwin says he won’t waste Charles time by listing them.

It makes me think Edwin had probably been told he’s boring people when he was alive for talking about things he’s interested in.

I wonder how long it took for him to realise he could ramble on for hours and Charles would listen intently to every word.
