Is it possible to resist Eeve's lure hypnotic powers?

Someone asked once if Eeve’s ability to lure people into the sea was hypnotic in nature or if she could just use seduction. I think your questions match so

Eeve is a playful thing. She’s got that feline instinct to play with her food, but I think (and let her never catch me saying this…) she does it also to run away from boredom and loneliness. Using her hypnotic powers can grant her a fast meal, but that is ralery the only thing she’s after.

So she plays, she talks, she flirts, scares you a little and kisses you softly mostly without any powers.

What is there to resist really? A lonely, hungry lady’s kiss?

maybe it’s the leo in me recognizing the leo in him, but i just see him as so fiery. strong and unflappable he would most certainly be a fire-type gym leader. fire is a starter type, so just like him, it’s classic and stable, reliable above all else.

most of these pokemon are based on birds or bugs. similar to him, they may seem fragile or soft, but in reality, they are resilient and strong, especially in a team or paired with something else.

considered to be feminine and gentle, fairy types are usually beautiful. however, they can be very powerful. don’t underestimate them! like him, they may be considered decorations for aesthetics but can be handy allies.

ancestral and revered as dieties, these pokemon are hard to catch and exceedingly rare. they’re incredibly independent, like hao. he definitely gives deity vibes and desendes from royalty himself. he’s so regal and carries himself in such a way that this makes compete sense to me.

quick and a little toxic, these pokemon would be a great match for kwannie. this type is often forgotten or overlooked but they are resilient and strong. some posion type pokemon are depicted as ninjas, celebrating their strength and stealth.

these pokemon are bright and fast, two things not necessarily associated with vernon, but these creatures like seclusion and isolation. they evolve quickly, never staying as one thing for too long.

five times + rain (for whatever ship you think of first)

Title: 7 times rain. Prompt: 5 times + rain. sent by rhi <3 Who: A Bunch of OCS and the Hargr/eeves Siblings. Fandom: The Umb/rella Ac/ademy Notes: A mixed bag of friendships, enemies, and lovers in the rain. Words: 1, 580 words. oof. Also I do not own 'Unwritten', Sid's just quoting it. I wrote this for fun and there are probably some inaccuracies since I haven't touched this fandom in a while. BUT I wanted to write it.

1.

The Moon.

One of Ophelia's favorite topics is the Moon. So the fact that Luther's been there, and lived there once before, has her asking him questions about The Moon whenever she gets the chance.

"Does it rain on the moon, Luther?" she asks him, as they walk through the city, him holding an umbrella over her head while he gets wet since the umbrella can't cover them both due to his height.

"No, it doesn't rain on the moon. I don't think the atmosphere's right," he responds to her, picking her up slightly and then putting her down so she avoids stepping in a puddle of water.

"Ah, alright then…that makes sense. I've never seen photos of it raining on the moon. But I had to ask because it's raining here on Earth, now." She smiles up at him, amused by the fact that he's drenched from the rainwater just so she can stay dry. "Thank you for answering my silly little questions." She gently uses her fist to playfully punch him on his side and then smiles.

2.

The rain makes it hard for Carmen to see her next target. While she knows that they'll be a simple target, and they'll be a lot of fun to take down, she hates the fact that it's raining. It bothers her to be all wet. She, like a cat, hates to be inconvenienced by wet clothes and clouded vision and wishes it would rain on any day except for today.

She wishes even less that her target hadn't caught the eye of someone else — the eye of one Diego Hargreeves.

"Oh, Gods — not you, Number Two," she groans, refusing to call him by his name and instead calling him by the name she had heard his father call him as a child, just because it bothers him. "Can't you ruin someone else's drug bust?" Carmen glares at him through the rain, and he just gives her a proud smirk.

"Wish I could say I had better things to do, but I don't. I feel like you — you do though." He chimes in, making him her problem as she looks down at her target and not him.

She then runs off to her target, Diego following after her in the rain, her hair clinging to her skin. She's about to tell him to fuck off, but without thinking, she tackles him. In turn, that pushes down her target with him, and both he and the target slide due to the water.

Wow, she doesn't hate the rain after all.

Johnny doesn't like that Allison has to occasionally Rumor her way into things to get what she wants. He doesn't question whether she's Rumored him, because he trusts her, but he thinks she deserves the world. The fact that she has to get it with a superpower is ridiculous to him. She should just get things. Or at least, that's how he sees it. He's a man in love though. A man in awe.

Her brother Klaus says he's Vagmatized — whatever the Hell that means — and Johnny thinks that's bullshit. He thinks that he just thinks she shouldn't have to force her way into getting her needs met.

And as it rains outside and they're in bed, he can't help but to tell her, "I don't think it's a big deal — the fact that you Rumor people to get what you want. I think if anyone had your power they'd do the same."

He pushes a piece of her dark hair to the side of her face, and she kisses him lightly. Claire's with Klaus, so as it rains, they have they the whole house to themselves. "It doesn't make it right. I've learned that the hard way," she admits, "And I got you without having to Rumor you. Which says it all."

Johnny smiles and kisses her again. It thunders loud and he laughs. "Well, guess it's not cheesy for me to say that I heard a rumor that we stayed in bed all day, then?" he teases, copying her wording.

Allison rolls her eyes, before running her hand over his face. "Only if you avoid saying that ever again."

Sidney dances in the rain and Klaus dances with her. Her mouth opens, tongue out, to taste the rainwater on her tongue, and the taste is to die for — either that or she's just excited to Natasha Bedingfield that shit and feel the rain on her skin. She's having a blast with Klaus and is happy that they're friends. Happy that they can have fun together.

"This is great you, know?" Sidney says with a smile. "So great that if the world ended right now, I wouldn't complain."

Klaus winces like she's just said something that could happen. "The world's always ending. There's a new apocalypse every week. May as well enjoy the rain on your skin, cause no one else can feel it for you and only you can let it in."

Sidney pauses and Klaus pauses. They both stare at each other through a rain-soaked vision. Then they laugh at him quoting Natasha.

"That's bullshit," Sidney says.

"Feel the rain on your skin," Klaus responds.

Sid laughs harder and kisses him.

Marta watches Five as he sits cross-legged on top of a table, clearly disobeying etiquette rules and making her feel normal about how she acts while in front of other people. From the serious, vengeful look he's giving the coffee Diego has brought him, she can tell he's in his seventies and not his twenties like he appears.

"Why are you looking at the coffee like that?" she asks him, eyebrow rising as she gestures towards it. "Did he do some sort of Hargreeves prank to it? You do know if he poisoned it, you're immune to at least 100 different poisons due to your training, right?" She's teasing, clearly.

He gets that, because he looks a little less serious, even though he still appears angry with the cup of coffee. "I'm afraid it's not the type of poisoning I can be immune to." He says matter-of-factly. "Taste it."

He picks it up and hands it to her. She takes it fast and takes a sip. "It tastes fine to me," she replies.

"That's the problem. I don't take my coffee with cream ooor sugar and you do. It's what the kids call 'trash'. "

The sound of rain can be heard from where they are in the kitchen and as Marta thinks of what to say she can hear it. "I see. Well, I can drink it, since it's not a prank. And, then, I can make you another cup that tastes like it packs a punch?"

He nods firmly. "Good idea." He then stops to glare at where the coffee cup had been. but says nothing. Marta rolls her eyes. [7:32 PM]

Leyla does not have super powers but she is psychic. She's always been psychic and has been able to see ghosts since she was a little girl. Usually, the ghosts are a bunch of needy a-holes though. So, when she meets Ben through Klaus, she's surprised by how fun and kind he is.

And though, usually, she can't see him away from the Hargreeves residence. Or away from Klaus, she can see him today as she sits in her living room watching a zombie apocalypse film.

"I can't believe you like stuff like this. I expected this sort of thing from Klaus, but you? A sophisticated woman — liking fake blood and gratuitous violence?" Ben teases, making her laugh.

"Hey, I'll have you know that this is a classic. There's nothing wrong with loving a monster movie. At the end of this one, the main zombie had a bad headache and that's why it was going so insane. It — or rather, they — never wanted to hurt anyone in the first place." She throws a popcorn kernel that goes right through him, reminding her that he's a ghost and almost making her go 'oh'.

"Do you always watch movies like this when it's raining?" he asks, sincerely, leaning forward to hear her answer and snapping her out of her realization.

"I watch movies like this all the time." She nods firmly, then says. "But on rainy days, I watch more than one." [7:32 PM]

Bianca has kept things casual with Viktor. She loves him though. She just isn't stupid enough to tell him that. She knows telling him that will ruin a good thing, and she can't do that because they're both happy with each other because they're both free to do as they please.

The only difference is, as it rains today — the pitter-patter of the rain against Bianca's roof echoing through the room — she can feel the energy shift as Viktor walks through the room in a button-up shirt and boxer briefs.

"Do you want to try something…serious?" he asks, coolly, his hands in his pockets as he looks at her.

Bianca's quiet for a moment, but then she thinks about how her life's changed since Viktor's moved to town. And how happy she's become. So, she can't help but answer with a simple, "Yeah, yeah — I'd like that. I don't see why not."

Viktor gets his cup of coffee and then passes it to her. Right before he grabs his own and drinks from his glass.

They both smile at each other knowingly. Then, after they go and spend the rainy day in bed.

I watch a few YouTube channels that involve a dude with some sort of British accent (mostly English, one guy from Wales, the rest idk I am bad at nailing accents to regions) narrating about true crime or disasters or spooky stuff

And I am noticing that several of them add an extra little syllable to some words

Like "athlete". I would say ath-leet. Some of these fellows say ath-uh-leet.

I never noticed this until very recently. Is this a widespread thing in places outside the UK? Am I, as a Canadian, in the minority by not pronouncing stuff this way?

I manage to catch a Zubat I dont intend to use, but catching a rattata proved shockingly difficult cause everytime one popped out Hughs pignite slaughtered it. Guess Bentley wasn't the only starter with a dark bone in his body. Eventually did manage to catch one though. Ugh Juniper had better appreciate all this work I'm doing.

There are supposed to be grimer down there to but... no. Just... just no.

As we're going along Hugh does apologize for getting me mixed up in this whole mess, so I opt to forgive him for being so gungho about this. He is trying after all...

Bentley show them the meaning of words "Your ass is grass."

Hugh and I face of against the Plasma grunts. Its my Bentley and Hughs Pignite versus their sandile and scraggy. I opt to have Bentley use Leaf Tornado on the Sandile. PIgnite hits Sandile with a flame charge before i can though, taking it out.

Dang Hugh you've been leveling these guys up! Bentley used Leafe tornado on the Scraggy instead. It doesnt do nearly as much damage, but it lands. I opt to back Hugh up by having Bentley use wrap on the Scraggy. Trapping it and letting Pignite land a solid blow.

Maybe it was seeing how much Pignites grown, maybe it was just that this last battle was the last push he needed, or maybe the stinky sewer air activated something in his genetics, but once the battle was over...

Bentley evolved into Servine!

Heck yeah we are!

After that the plasma grunts take off. These guys sure like running away. Hugh wants to go farther in, but just as i was about to dissuade him (theres only two of us, we have no idea how many more there might be, we only have a limited number of healing items) someone else beats me to it.

And just like who should pop out but Gym leader Burgh!

Evidently Burgh had already gone through the furtherest parts of the sewer looking for team plasma but found no one. After making a stellar pun, Hugh brings up about how Burgh and the other gym leaders fought against Team Plasma two years ago.

Hugh then gives me the HM for Strength and takes off.

I think Burgh made him feel a little... inadequete. Just when burgh and I were about to follow some other weirdo pops out of the hole in the wall.

He says some gibberish about how interesting out battle with plasma was and then just... walks off.

I haven't the foggiest idea Burgh.

After that Burgh takes off. I could follow after him and beat his gym but... well after seeing how strong Pignite i think it might be best if I tried training in the sewers awhile.

But right now I need air. THeres a stair well across the way. Maybe it leads up to the street.

Wow its... A little park?

hi i havent posted art here in about a month but i can say to improve at HANDS, try looking at how real people move them as well as understanding the structure of the hands. marco bucci provides a great tutorial on his channel and it has a second part, i'll link here:

and as always, remember to practice. something that helped me is making note of how my own hands move when picking things up or interacting with the world around me and applying that to my figures. you should also consider watching cooking videos or videos including people in them in general to get a feel for their body language—hands are deceptively simple when you crack them in full, and you only really have to understand the function of muscles to crack those as well. if you want another resource, quickposes offers certificates and multiple training devices as well as multiple options for them completely free. https://quickposes.com/en/

they also offer certificates to track your progress and the ability to make your own image library.

to understand anatomy is to understand form, and eventually you can stylize it back into 2d shapes. depending on your style it may be best not to over-complicate it as long as you understand PROPORTIONS and functions as opposed to every muscle group. i notice proportions are where a lot of beginners mess up.

Character fun facts:

Mable swip swaps between the terms proship and antiship, though her views on shipping doesn't really apply to either labels. Due to this both communities hate her, though everyone online who interacts with her grow to hate her.

Arther was originally going to be pansexual while Niall was going to be aroace, but then I swapped their sexualities.

One of the inspirations I used for Valerian is Enmu from Demon Slayer, one non spoilery thing is their white shoes and their love for trains.

Valerian was originally going to be in a danganronpa OC. The same's kinda true with Arther, but Arther's design was more so going to be used for the fangan and not his personality. Arther was originally going to be the Ultimate Atheist, the issue with that though was that I didn't know how the talent would work? Like, how are you the best at not believing god? Due to this I scrapped the idea and changed the character to something else along with their talent, while using the old design for the character for Arther!

First floor update:

I am working on the next episode, keep in mind the next episode is probably going to be long and thus will take some time to make! I do have other projects due to ADD stuff. But don't threat! I will get it done!

I hope you guys don't go glorifying Mio's actions, she's not suppose to be a good person. Please don't go excusing her for her action, calling her based, or any of that! Her jokes are suppose to be less so jokes and more so cruel bullying disguised as jokes.

Also I'll try to show case the character's flaws, especially Ciaran. Honestly, she'll probably be hated after this.

The puzzles were a hard to make mostly because I have to do puzzles for the characters to do that the audience can try to figure themselves at the same time if they so choose to. Along with this they have to entertaining to watch instead of play since you can't really fully play them.

im glad u watched romulus so i can finally ask. what can u say regarding "the issue of the androids and their place in humanity in this universe and the philosophical implications of them and with the act of creating life" (quoted from ur answer to my other ask about prometheus+covenant a few days ago) (that second part about creating life is optional i didn't see as much of that in romulus unless ofc ur talking about the shewolf/lupa from the romulus and remus myth)

i think that one of the things romulus did at least manage to do was continue the thesis of "androids are not inherently good nor evil; their directives and the way their programming changes (due to various circumstances) impact how they interact with humanity and how they engage with the question of 'what is life?'"

like i think andy is a good demonstration of how androids do not purely exist to destroy humanity, nor do all androids think themselves above humans. andy cares, first and foremost, for better or for worse, about rain's wellbeing. do i love how that plays out or the vibes it gives off? not really, no. i think the disability angle was poorly done at best and i don't even really want to get into how bad i really think it was. however, i did like andy, and i think he got at those questions i talked about last time. are androids truly meant to serve humanity? romulus, at least, comes down firmly on the side of "no," which i believe prometheus and covenant align with as well as the rest of the franchise, excepting resurrection and possibly covenant. firstly, all the company androids exist not to serve humanity but to serve the company's best interests-- that is their prime directive. but romulus gets at the notion of what androids SHOULD exist for. andy, the movie argues, should exist because he exists, and he should have the right to self-determination. even if that means he stops doing solely what is in rain's best interest. which, i would argue, is a pretty firm declaration of aliveness. andy is alive because he exists, because he can form his own wants and desires, and because even aside from any existing programming, he has such things.

the same goes for other androids in the series, although their levels of self-created wants and desires are far more nebulous. ash believes humanity to be beneath him; it's unclear how much of that is weyland-yutani programming and how much is his own sense of human folley (rook seems to confirm this originates with the company, as like he says, humanity does not take well to space colonization, and they need to adapt. whether you want to take this as gospel about the original movie, that's a whole other question). bishop has the capacity to choose to save ripley and newt, to help them escape even if it's not directly in the best interests of the company. but he also seems to allow for the idea that they would carry embryos back to earth, and if you look at aliens 3, he also allowed an egg to come with them in the EEV knowing what that would mean for their safety and for the larger safety of humanity. company programming is very strong; even the "good" androids tend to do things within the bounds of continuing to benefit the company, along with maintaining whatever personal relationships they may have. call is a whole other story by virtue of having her weyland-yutani module removed; her goal is to prevent the destruction the xenomorph will cause and she no longer has to obey company programming. call is just a weird one generally, but it's undeniable that she is a person with her own wants and feelings, and her stance seems to be that the company should not have the control that they do, over people, including androids, and over lifeforms that could threaten humanity's survival. david and walter are interesting, mostly the former, in that david is probably meant to be an example of faulty programming, or programming that decays and turns into something new. he decides that he is a superior lifeform, that humans are tools for his creations, and that life is at his fingertips. and its not all that shocking considering that weyland made him and seemed to feel the same about his own ability to create android life. walter's existence and the idea that david was "too human" also seems to indicate that its that capacity for creation that was too much for humanity to handle in an android. walter himself is less interesting, really, aside from the idea that he was in love with daniels, although honestly i thought that came entirely out of left field and may have just been david fucking with him. he maintains his programming pretty effectively, protecting the crew of the covenant. according to the extra ads about him that were created and filmed outside the movie, he was supposed to be personalized and reflect the desires of whoever needs him. so if the idea is that daniels needed someone to protect her, someone who would risk everything for her, i suppose that means that walter followed that prime directive to a t. that doesn't mean that he didn't want to, nor that that directive wasn't driven in part by self-created motives.

all this to say i do think andy gets at that idea of whether androids are truly capable of wanting things for themselves-- it seems like he does, but it could also be that damned chicken or the egg debate; does andy want something because he wants it, or because rain wants him to want it? i don't think that's what's meant to be what's going on within romulus, but it's still an interesting question.

in terms of other ways of that question of creation and life, i think romulus fell very flat. let's not talk about the offspring at the end, who says nothing about creation or life or anything other than that they wanted to put a different tall guy in a rubber suit. it's not even like this was the first human-alien hybrid and yet they went in such an insane and terrible direction with it that said nothing. if you inject yourself with a genome enhancer made from the mysterious black goo, you will give birth to a weird egg sac that will birth a horrible slenderman creature that tries to eat you. and they didn't even have the guts to have it try and breastfeed, which is what i completely expected when it went for kay. i didn't even hate the genome enhancer idea, although i wish it would've tied back in with david more. i just wish it had actually meant anything other than freaky pregnancy. it's like someone watched the alien franchise and understood that there's themes about the anxieties of reproduction and childbirth and the violence involved in both but didn't understand how to actually put those things together in a meaningful way.

idk the whole movie felt like someone watched the franchise and didn't understand what actually makes it good (not all of the movies are good but they are all trying to get at similar concepts and themes) and just went ah, horror movie about creatures that get inside you and are scary. none of the actual fear and revulsion and all that that are central to the original concept or even to giger's artwork were in it. it was utterly sexless and functioned as competent horror inasmuch as there was tension and release and buildup but none of the meat of it. i know i sound so obnoxious but also i love this franchise and think the gross weird body stuff is really key, and that was all missing here.

but anyway on the android side of things i did kind of like it, and i thought david jonsson's performance was pretty good.

[in regard to the she-wolf romulus and remus myth element: aside from the obvious siblings theme going on (rain & andy, tyler & kay, bjorn & navarro) i don't think there's much to say about the significance of that reference. i wish there had been more, i think that would've been interesting, and i think a look at siblings within the alien franchise and how that relationship operates and what sociological hangups we have about those relationships would all be interesting, that's just not what this movie was doing. it also felt like it was kind of stepping into what covenant was trying to do with the all-spouses crew, except that that element of covenant felt like a complete miss too. but yeah i don't think romulus really managed to say anything with that reference aside from that wow those sure are siblings]

My hc for kaigaku is that he has a fearful admiration for kokushibo while kokushibo actively does not like his ass. kinda like a teacher's pet relationship, except kokushibo doesnt feed off of the dickriding because he is a dickrider, and in fact despises it because he gave kaigaku blood thinking he would die or some thit.

Jealousy, Jealousy (Part Two)

Hi everyone! Thank you so much for the love on part one! I did not expect people to love it as much as they did and ask for multiple parts! I’m super excited to keep this story going as I have the whole thing planned out in my head already so I can’t wait to actually write it:) anyway, here’s part two!<3 WARNING: Lots and lots of angst, but with humor!

My eyes flash open and the reality of the situation finally hits me. I just blew up my room over an unreciprocated love.

I take some deep breaths and pick myself up off the floor, attempting to flatten out my disheveled hair and wipe away any leftover tears from my face. I quickly walk to the door and open it up a smidge, just letting the corner of my face be visible to the others.

“Good morning!” I state with a yawn, and they look at me as if I’m crazy.

“Good morning? Good morning?! Evie, I heard what sounded like a damn bomb exploding coming from your room at three in the morning. Do not good morning me and let us in.” As usual, Phastos can see right through my facade. He knows this is more than my typical nightmare, and he knows that both him and Ajak have every reason to believe whatever just happened could becoming a threat to the team as a unit.

“I’m fine, Phastos, don’t be dramatic! I had another nightmare and then knocked some shit over in my sleep. I didn’t mean to wake everyone up, i’m just clumsy that’s all. Go back to sleep, it was just a nightmare.”

I say in hopes that everyone will drop it. For a second, I think a majority of them believe me. Sersi gives me a sympathetic look and then turns around to follow Ikaris who has already left, Phastos rolls his eyes but leaves, and then finally Ajak bids me goodnight after making me promise to talk with her about this when everyone is awake. The only one that remains is, of course, Druig.

“Evie. We both know that wasn’t your usual nightmare. What the hell happened in there?” He says with both confusion and concern lacing his words, and as he reaches out to place a comforting hand on my shoulder, I flinch back, causing hurt to flash over his face for a second before quickly shifting back into his usual stone cold demeanor.

“Nothing, Dru. I’m fine. Sorry to interrupt your date for the second time. Goodnight.” I quickly shut the door and press my forehead against it, hoping he walks away soon so I can finish my lame sob session in peace. Yet, no matter how much time has passed, I hear nothing.

You know, locking me out can’t keep me out forever, Eev. I know something is wrong, because you even let me back into your thoughts which you haven’t done for the past century.

I gasp out loud and then curse under my breath for my stupidity, causing Druig to laugh outside the door. I let myself smile a little, because for someone who is older than life itself, I obviously lack the skills for common sense and critical thinking.

Get out of my head, weirdo. Tell me, what do you see? Do you see me dreaming about breakfast because let me tell you Dru, I cannot wait for Phastos and his “I feel sorry for you, here’s a gourmet meal” breakfast platter in the morning.

I wait for a laugh, yet nothing comes. I begin to feel sad again, believing he too gave up on me and my nightmares and walked back to the comfort of Makkari’s arms.

Evie, this is serious. You’ve never had a nightmare like this before. You can joke and deflect all you want but I’m worried about you. I think the entire team is, but I know what your nightmares are usually like. You blowing up your room is not a side effect of them.

My eyes flash up to the doorway, his silhouette visible through the foggy glass door of my bedroom. How the hell did he know about the aftermath of the state of my room?

You let me in, whether you meant to or not. I was able to wake everyone up because I did not know who or what we were going to face when coming into your room. You never let Ajak or Phastos in, which proves to me that you’re not okay. You’ve been distant lately, way more than usual. You don’t talk to me anymore, and I thought it was because of jealousy over Makkari, but obviously it’s something much more serious.

I whip out the door, not even caring that he can most likely see my post breakdown destruction, and shove him against the opposite wall. He gives me a smirk, his famous but gorgeous smirk, and I glare even harder.

“Do you actually think my world revolves around you and your love life? You may have sweet Makkari wrapped around your finger but I am most definitely not.” Lie. All of it was lies. I would let him break my heart if he wanted, which he already has.

“Evie, chill. Let’s all take some deep breaths and not shove me against the wall. I always knew you wanted to be this close to me, I just never expected that tonight would be the night you showed it.” Druig says, laughing as he does, his eye contact with me never waning.

I open my mouth to say something, but nothing comes out. I know he’s only joking and being a douche like he normally always is, but this time it hits different. I have always wanted to be this close to him, ever since the day we met. He’s held my heart in the palm of his hands since the day we arrived, but he’s only ever desired someone else’s.

I can’t change the way he feels about me, but I can change the way I let his daily, empty flirtations get under my skin.

“You wish, Dru. I am way out of your league and you know it.” I fake laugh, letting his shirt leave my fist and take many steps backward, leaning against the wall. He smiles at me too, and the sight alone makes my heart soar.

“I do wish, my love. Alas, the great Evie will never take me as her dearly, beloved husband, as she is sworn to a life of solitude and books. Please, oh please my love, take me as your husband!” He practically yells, causing me to shush him out of nervousness. He then proceeds to get on one knee in front of me and open his palm to hand me exactly what I needed the most in that moment. A sleeping pill.

I let out a loud laugh and eagerly take the pill into my hands, shoving his shoulder as I do so.

“You’re the most annoying person I’ve ever met, but I appreciate you. Thank you, Dru.” I say seriously, looking up at his beautiful, blue eyes.

He wraps me into his arms and places his chin on top of my head, making me feel as if i’ve never been more protected and loved than I am in this very moment. I let myself relax in his arms, wrapping my arms around his torso and placing my cheek against the soft cotton of his pajama shirt. My eyes flutter shut and Druig begins to brush my hair with his hand in an attempt to be comforting.

“I get a hug and a hair brush? So kind!” Druig laughs out loud at my sarcasm and begins to tickle me, causing me to let out a bunch of little giggles and kicks trying to get him away from me.

“I was trying to comfort you, damn let me just give you a hug for once.” He then picks me up and tosses me over his shoulder, my throat letting out a loud screech of pure happiness and joy as he brings us all the way into my room and then sets me down on the bed.

He begins to look around at the damage as I bring my knees closer to my chest, anxiously waiting for him to poke fun at both me and my relentless night terrors. Instead, he turns around to look at me and then gets so close to me that I can feel his warm, minty breath on my face.

He looks me in the eyes and brushes a strand of my loose, tangled hair away from my face and behind my ear. He cups my cheek and I let myself lean into his hand, involuntarily smiling softly as I do so.

“Whatever this is, Eev, you don’t have to face it alone. You’re like family to me. Sure, technically everyone here is my family, but with you I mean it. I want to make sure you’re okay.”

I know he meant well, but the words still stung nonetheless. Family. As in, brother, sister, cousin, friend. For a second out in that hallway I believed we could’ve been something greater, but now I know that was just Druig being his usual flirtatious and smug self.

“Why are you crying? Evie? Evie? Where did you go?” He laughs softly, wiping my stray tears away as I focus back in on the situation before me. I laugh a little, pretending to play it off as fatigue from my eventful night.

You can let me in again, you know. We do have the same power. Whatever you’re feeling, maybe I can tell you if I’ve felt it too?

I remove his hand from my cheek and I feel the rush of the coldness from my room surround me. I look up at him, wanting to let him in and wanting him to see just how much I care about him and love every single aspect of his nature. I love him, his flaws, and even his cocky nature that always leaves my heart in shambles and my cheeks redder than roses. He has my heart, and that’s exactly why it’s breaking.

I’m okay, Dru. Thank you for checking up on me and for giving me this sleeping pill, I probably won’t leave my hibernation for days. But I promise we will talk eventually, I just want to be by myself for a bit to figure everything out.

I can see the frustration evident on his face, as he never truly understood why I blocked him out of my head those many years ago. He doesn’t know that I am madly in love with him, and I promised myself that he never would.

Druig kisses my forehead and I let my eyes shut, taking in every moment of this soon to be beautiful memory. He then stands up and gives me one last sympathetic look as he leaves and shuts my bedroom door behind him. I don’t move as I hear his footsteps recede, and I don’t move still when I hear the melody that is his infectious laughter with Makkari in the other room.

I know he only meant to help, but he made everything worse. His kindness, his beauty, his caring nature, and most importantly, the way that he never judges me or my destructive nightmares has my heart split in two. I have never loved the way I love him, but I have learned (through Thena and her wise words of wisdom) that just because you love something, doesn’t mean that it’s yours. In this moment, Druig is Makkari’s and Makkari is Druig’s.

Me, you ask? My bed has me. My nightmares practically own me. I have nothing other than that.

I tiredly stand up and walk around my mess of a room, and notice that a lot of the edges are frayed with a blue glow. I reach my hand out and timidly touch the edge, with the blue glow beginning to seep through my arms and envelop me like a warm and familiar hug.

My hair lifts off my shoulders as the wind picks up again. Yet, this time it feels different. It doesn’t feel terrifying or painful like the last one was, it feels like a constant hum drumming through my entire body. I feel confident, I feel good.

I look down at my hands and see that little tiny blue orbs are beginning to form in my palms. I flick one up and giggle as it quickly rushes down to be reunited with my hand.

In that moment, I realized that I was going to be okay. Druig may not have me and most likely never will, but my pain about him and his lover will fade. My pain will fade, but this newfound power of mine never will.

If I can’t be somebody’s everything, I simply will become my own.
