Thinking about reader and Soap singing "Dirt Man" repeatedly throughout the day and driving the others crazy. Reader is scrolling through their phone and just starts singing "keep a little dirt under the pillow for the dirt man" and seconds later the team will here Soap (who's in the bathroom) "for when he comes to town". The two go through the entire song, or at least one of them finishes it. Price, Gaz, and Ghost are all dying because it's the 20th time of they've heard it that day (and it's been a week of it).
@void-my-warranty Also thinking about SDJ reader/Simon (because the dynamic void created works so well for this), and after sex, Johnny is laying on the bed with Simon, and just starts "so he won't take me down", and before Simon can tell him (for the tenth time) to "please God shut the fuck up, Johnny", reader chimes in from the kitchen "to his lair, deep under the mountain". They both end up finishing the song in harmony, and Simon has his head in his hands.
Then Simon is doing dishes, and just starts singing it under his breath and just goes 🎵"thats where he keeps his dirt"🎵 and nearly breaks a plate when he drops it back into the sink in defeat.
Edit: bonus points if the first time they start singing it in front of Simon, he goes, "What?" At the perfect time, and feels dawning dread at the devious look that Soap and reader share.

YESSSSS I absolutely ADORE this scene, and I always have. The shots they use are so pretty, and I 100% agree with everything you've said in your analysis.
As everything shifts into focus and the colours get bolder and they both get closer and stuff, I agree that it does align with / boost the storytelling of this particular scene.
Honestly I could probably write an essay on the way this film is shot (but I just make edits instead lol).
And can we just take a moment to appreciate the LIGHTING?! How illuminated old Charles is throughout the scene, helping to boost his role as the 'guide', 'mentor', as the embodiment of hope even in the darkness of the world around them.
Just UGH I love this scene so muuuccchhh.
X-MEN DOFP SCENE DETAIL THAT I’M GOING CRAZY OVER:
@alien--cookie, I thought of you while writing this post since I know you are interested in/want to go into film like me! 😝
So today I'm talking about the scene between old Charles and young Charles in Days of Future Past. A phenomenal scene, beautiful, stunning, moving, emotional, every positive adjective possible to describe this amazing scene. BUT the cinematography is REALLY cool and it’s making me so goddamn emotional as I’m sitting down to analyze it.
Me, a film student, to every Tumblr user who reads this:
GET IN LOSER WE’RE *ANALYZING A FILM SCENE*
I want to talk about three things:
Camera focus (this one isn’t necessary just me, I saw a YT comment or something point this out a long time ago, I don’t remember)
Shot type
The 180 degree rule (description below courtesy of the StudioBinder website):
"The 180 degree rule is a filmmaking guideline for spatial relations between two characters on screen. The 180 rule sets an imaginary axis, or eye line, between two characters or between a character and an object. By keeping the camera on one side of this imaginary axis, the characters maintain the same left/right relationship to each other, keeping the space of the scene orderly and easy to follow.
When the camera jumps over the invisible axis, this is known as crossing the line or breaking the line, and it can produce a disorienting and distracting effect on a viewer."
Tumblr media
In the beginning of the scene, the 180 rule is set up:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We have our two titular characters set up, their location, their spatial relation to each other, all that jazz.
Then we have this shot up from underneath...
Tumblr media
...while old Charles is saying, “Sometimes we all need a little help.”
That is a perspective shift for young Charles.
THEN:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
THEY BREAK THE 180 RULE AND OLDER CHARLES IS NOW IN FOCUS.
To maybe signify that perspective shift and the new direction the scene is going???
And as they go about the scene and old Charles is giving advice to young Charles, young Charles is being imbued with all this knowledge and wisdom and the shot gets tighter and closer on each of them as we’re getting more up close and personal with them. We’re getting a more intimate look into their lives and their emotions, so the shot choices reflect that:

And there we go. Yet another reason why I love this scene, and by extension Days of Future Past, so much. X-Men has my heart.
Share your thoughts! 😎

There's just something so raw and personal whenever in comics, fanart, and fics, Bucky and Nat call each other James and Natalia
It's like "I see you. I know you."
It's so much deeper than just 'Nat' and 'Bucky', you know? Especially after everything they've both been through
And it's not just the names, it's the way they say it. Because to them, it's not just a name. It's something precious
In a world of pain, where they've both been alone for so long, it's everything
