It is said in songs that it gleamed ever in the dark if foes approached, and the fortress of the dwarves could not be taken by surprise.

absolutely underrated LotR dynamic is Aragon acting as a go-between for elves and humans, especially while combining the weirdest parts of both races himself
I just love to think that Boromir constantly comes up to him during the Quest because he Does Not Get elvish idiosyncrasies (listening to rocks and trees??? talking to animals???) and Aragorn always insists it's not strange at all and leaves to chat in Sindarin with Legolas to see what those angry squirrels were on about because hey, that's his people you're talking about! And that Legolas comes up to Aragorn fully expecting him to take the reasonable elvish stance on Weird Man Stuff (pipeweed being gross, beards being unnecessary) and Aragorn sides with Boromir instantly because hey, that's his people you're talking about!

Addendum to the "what if one of Arwen's brothers chose mortality and the other immortality" headcanon:
I kind of love the idea of Elladan (if it's Elladan who stays in Middle-earth) just drifting into Gondor to visit Arwen when he's not rangering with the Northern Dúnedain/slaughtering orcs. But for Elladan and Arwen, even once mortal, a "visit" is a lengthy affair by normal people's standards and he becomes a familiar sight in Minas Anor for years at a time before he goes off again.
(Also, because I can make everything about my faves, I choose to believe his drifting also takes him to Ithilien, both because of the Elvish colony there and to aid in the defense of Gondor's border. It involves protecting his sister and killing orcs, so ... you know. And I love the idea of him interacting with Éowyn and Faramir, of course.)

I do not know if I can sate their hunger.
Progress on my big sword quilt project, each of my designs have been heavily inspired by a historical or classical fantasy reference. The sword on the left side is based on a combination of True Renaissance Two-Handers, or Zweihänder. The middle sword is loosely inspired by a Claymore reference. The sword on the right is inspired by Anduril of Lord of the Rings. Today I’m working on a rapier loosely inspired by Needle of A Song of Ice and Fire.
After I’ve gotten the basics of all my planned swords down I plan to go back through the designs, edit, and add detail. Then I’ll break them down into patterns and work on the quilt layout.
I am using swords as a motif for this quilt because the recipient loves them and owns quite a few replicas. I’ve stared at swords for hours now and really come to appreciate how beautiful they can be, their careful proportioning, the diversity of their designs and functions. The process of making this project has already given me a greater appreciation of my friend’s interest, and my friend. And a great excuse to listen to The Return of the King audiobook.

But they were all of them deceived
Tumblr media
The world is changed.
I feel it in the water.
I feel it in the earth.
I smell it in the air.
Much that once was is lost, for none now live who remember it.
It began with the forging of the Great Rings. Three were given to the Elves, immortal, wisest and fairest of all beings. Seven to the Dwarf-Lords, great miners and craftsmen of the mountain halls. And nine, nine rings were gifted to the race of Men, who above all else desire power. For within these rings was bound the strength and the will to govern each race.
But they were all of them deceived, for another ring was made.
Deep in the land of Mordor, in the Fires of Mount Doom, the Dark Lord Sauron forged a master ring, and into this ring he poured his cruelty, his malice and his will to dominate all life.
One ring to rule them all.

Love Hadrian and Royce as best friends because Hadrian is would see a starving puppy on the side of the rode and give it his lunch with NO hesitation but Royce would stab a man and steal his wallet because he was mildly annoyed and feel no guilt

Made some more 'flash' designs yesterday. Here are some. Some Koi Fish because I have one tattooed on me so I better know how to draw one right? The sword is a elvish style with some tulips!
