Trade routes snake across the continental interior, connecting the kingdoms of the west and great empires of the east. The immense riches that flow both ways attract bandits, warlords, and others that would prey upon the merchants and caravans. Fortified outposts have been established at regular intervals along these great trade routes in which travelers can seek shelter, resupply, and make deals.
The courtyard of this particular outpost is ringed by one-room chambers that are rented by visitors and used as storefronts during their stay. These storefronts display a variety of spices, exotic fruits and produce, fabrics and textiles, and trinkets (both magical and mundane). Those who can't afford or don't wish to rent a chamber can camp in the courtyard for a small fee. The courtyard and shops are surrounded by an outer ring of stables to accommodate the large numbers of camels and horses that caravans rely upon.

Our latest map to kick off 2024 is our Atelier map set! Heavily inspired by Quifrey's Atelier from the manga series “Witch Hat Atelier” this multi story cottage is a great home base for a group of casters or a place for a party to seek out advice. 
Each variation in the set includes a gridded and ungridded version.

Pyramid Ruins Maps! Release Date: May 29th
I want to create a dungeon map for the interior of this pyramid as well, but for now here is the exterior! I think a pyramid would make an exciting encounter location due to the elevation mechanics (and there are all sorts of dangers you can introduce in the desert...)
I imagine each tier of the pyramid is ten feet higher than the previous, making it an interesting movement puzzle as well

#silent hill 2#james sunderland#hi lads. ohhh boy a lot happened since i was last here. crawling my way back to drawing#anyways whatever friend mim has been streaming sh2r recently and haha. hahaha. whahahahoohoohooooey#so far its lookin like. an entirely new game tbh. like nominally its sh2 but it's weaving in a Lot of other things that really isnt sh2#i dont! hate that! and there are moments they put in that i genuinely love. the lamp swinging after a pyramid head encounter for example#but around this ive been thinking abt just like. the concept the idea of remakes and retellings for a horror piece#and like. you do get something from a story you tell again and again. and the way that movement's hollistic and total in a book#like. idk how to express this the entirety of a story will exist at the same time right? after the first time it's told#the chronology in the story doesn't map perfectly onto real life. the beginning and the end exist at the same time#so like that you can choose to be in the forest forever. anyways it's cool that james will never be able to leave silent hill <3#no matter what ending you get at the end the next time you boot up the game there he'll be again in that wretched town :]#so the remake on purely a conceptual level tickles me like that. go there again. go to fucked up town maine USA ok. go there#anyways akira yamaoka's touchup of the soundtrack is fucking phenomenal regardless of the surrounding theme of laura II and#love psalm of eternal devotion have both ruined my life i NEED to play slitterhead so bad its not even funny

Gloom Stalker: Rinnill's Introduction

ᒥ🕷ᒧ—        Three days he had been tracking these big, fat fucks. And finally? He caught up with them. Rinnill stared through the bushes at three, huge Hill Giants lumbering about. With Drow Sign Language, he commands the Phase Spider, Nym, beside him to go around the tree and get into position to attack one of the Hill Giants when he shouted the command.
With the Hill Giants unsuspecting of his presence, the Drow casts Hunter's Mark on the closest Hill Giant, then he lifts his pistol and aims at the it. He fires, a direct hit on the Giant's shoulder. It reels in pain, but Rinnill isn't done yet. "Nym! Now!" The Phase Spider scurries forward and sinks her fangs into the Giant's foot. A simple bite, and then in a shimmer of light she disappears from the material plane.
Shot, then bit, the Hill Giant looks around in confusion. It's confusion causes the other two Giants to take notice and they are equally confused. The first Hill Giant, the one bit, looks down it the purple, poisonous bite on it's foot.
He'd only have cover for so long, his next attacks would definitely draw their attention to his spot. It doesn't matter, he takes aim at the Hill Giant he has marked. He fires two shots in quick succession, the first striking the Hill Giant's shoulder again while the second strikes it's chest dead on to deal more damage. Nym appears from the Ethereal plane, crouched beside her master.
Rinnill was right to assume his next attacks would give away his hiding spot. The third Hill Giant roars and rips a giant boulder from the ground, launching it at the Drow. Nym was quick to scurry out of it's way, but unfortunately with only one leg Rinnill wasn't so lucky. A slight hit from the rock does terrible damage to him.
The first Hill Giant roars as well, grabbing a rock as well. However, Rinnill is able to move from its path in time along with Nym.
The second Hill Giant in Rinnill's sight follows suit, lifting a rock to launch at the Gloom Stalker and spider. Another miss, and Rinnill is starting to sweat now. Another hit from one of those rocks and he'd be in trouble.
While hunting his prey of Hill Giants, Rinnill doesn't notice another presence in the area, if he had he'd yell to them to assist him.

The outlying regions of the realm aren't as safe as the metropole. The roads aren't as often patrolled, the garrisons are smaller, and the wilds are populated by all manners of dangers - both beast and criminal. Establishments catering to travelers and merchants are obliged to maintain at least some form of defense in order to ensure the safety of patrons, staff, and property. This particular inn is a solidly built stone structure with two floors and a small number of rooms for rent, providing guests with a comfortable rest, while the surrounding stone wall and sturdy wooden gate protect the stables and carts from casual threats.
This map is available to supporters in PNG/VTT formats, without watermark, in night/day + grid/gridless variants. I also included a PDF with a sample inn description and plot hook.

Our latest map was inspired by the Serpentback Cave in the manga series Witch Hat Atelier. The cave long abandoned, your party must carefully traverse to the opposite side. Be careful of where you step or you may fall deep into the cave where unknown creatures may lie.

Treetop Gem Maps! Release date: May 15th '24
Hello week 2! For this map I was envisioning a BBEG fight. A forest cult with a base on this massive ancient tree, protecting a magic gem that has been.. summoning creatures, or brainwashing townsfolk, or corrupting normally friendly forest creatures. Maybe they have a squirrel army. I don't know, but what I do know is that the climb to this massive treetop will be arduous and at 50x50 squares there is PLENTY of space for an epic battle. Have fun!

A Tarra-ble Mistake

ᒥ🕷ᒧ—      A large monster had been terrorizing the area, but the information they could dig up about it was not from firsthand witnesses. All those who suffered from the monster rampage hadn't survived to tell the tale nor aid in identifying the creature. Rinnill had been hired by a village terrified they would be next in its path of destruction. The amount they offered was essentially all the village had to give, and quite a hefty amount it was. The next 3 months they would be set for travel with the coin offered by the villagers. It made Rinnill's stomach twist with the impending, inherent danger they would face.
Six miles Rinnill tracked the creature from the last village it decimated. He had not seen this kind of creature before, but he could determine from the size of its footfalls left in the earth that it was indeed a monstrosity. He may have an advantage over monstrosities, but still, something didn't sit right in gut.
"Stand back, I do not know what we face, but surely it is formidable. We approach it's cave now." He tells Julian, then moves into the trees by a cave entrance. Rinnill lays himself down and prepares his crutch rifle to take a damming shot once the creature makes an appearance.
The entire area reeked of death, many bones, corpses, and blood covering the grassy entrance to the forest.
Rin makes hand signs to Nym that leads to the Spider phasing out of the material plane and chooses a spot to ambush this horrifying creature.
Its then, once everyone has taken their place, that the earth shudders under massive stomps. Echoing out of the cave is a monstrous growl of a huge beast. Rinnill begins to feel sweat bead on his forehead, anticipation and anxiety stirring in his gut.
The creature stalks out of the massive cave entrance, and Rinnill gasps as he now knows exactly what they're up against. A Tarrasque, thankfully a young one, but indeed formidable as he thought. His mistake, as the surprised gasp catches the creature's attention, turning its gaze in the direction the Drow laid. He had no choice; after casting Hunter's Mark on the beast, he lifts his rifle and shoots, hitting. He cocks it and shoots again, this one misses. The man is then quick to stand, knowing he now has the beast's attention and must keep his distance to ensure he does not fall prey to it.
The tarrasque lets out a Thunderous Roar, its shakes the earth with power. Rinnill feels thunder rattle through his body, the pain intense and it stirs fear up inside him. Blood drips from his ringing eardrums. He's effectively frightened and deafened by this beast.

Hidden among the twisted branches and roots of mangrove trees in a vast swamp, this small settlement is one of the few semblances of civilization that adventurers may encounter. The villagers don't see many visitors - the heat, humidity, and stinging insects ensure that few find reason to make the journey here. Supplies and the services of guides might be procured here, provided that adventurers have sufficient barter.
