Perhaps one of my biggest problems with season two caitvi — outside of the obvious abuse and unhealthy relationship dynamic — is that they didn’t have a real reason to be together in season two.

In season one, they had chemistry and it was clear that they actually liked each other as people and not potential romantic partners. Caitlyn was kind towards Vi, and Vi trusted Caitlyn. They were empathetic to each other’s struggles, and Caitlyn was (slowly) growing and learning the errors in Piltover because of Vi.

In season two, they have NO chemistry. In my opinion, their sex scene felt out of place and not at all sexy. They had nothing in common, and no real reason to even like each other — sure, there were the memories they had in season one, but Caitlyn acted completely differently in season two so that’s just what they are: memories. The audience was supposed to believe that they love each other because we are told: Caitlyn has tiny microexpressions that indicate she might like Vi, Vi goes through a mental breakdown because she and Caitlyn weren’t involved together (which is an entirely different topic, because I have issue believing she wouldn’t be upset over literally the myriad of other things going wrong in her life). Yet, we aren’t shown why they like each other, nor do the characters tell each other why they like them.

They had no chemistry, no reason to be together aside from Caitvi being canon in league. I knew they’d be endgame, but the show did not lead me to that conclusion by myself — I knew because of league.

Dear fellow carylers, Melissa's return gave me relief, Tribeca made me happy and hopeful, but SDCC definitely closed the deal! I'm not only positive, I'm confident that caryl is endgame and canon is the only possible outcome.

Why? Because I never saw Melissa this happy and relaxed before. Ever. She's glowing and giggling! It's beautiful to witness and everything I ever wanted for her. Her happiness gives me confidence and I trust that she's getting what she (and all of us) want.

After so much disappointment, frustration and uncertainty, it feels really good to enjoy my love for caryl besides fanfiction. I'm happy to say I'm looking forward to TBOC and that I currently have very little reservations about it after all, AMC is AMC. September can't come fast enough.

btw also i think this applies to the insistence that armand a) was just spinning full lies about lestat's involvement in the coven-theatre switch and/or the nature of their situationship (he obviously was telling the story from A Certain Angle with Certain Ulterior Motives but i don't personally think that it was 100% ao3-certified fanfic that he and lestat might've been attracted to each other since, you know, lestat straight up is like "wow he's so beautiful but Terrifyingly Crazy" in TVL and b) isn't important to lestat. he might not be as central as some people think he'll be in s3 but he and lestat are DEEPLY important to each other. but i know that part of the iwtv fandom's problem is that it's also too ship-brained to think about characters' relationships outside of whether or not they're romantically or sexually involved. and whatever armandstat have going on is a secret third thing when it comes to all that. and i do think that the insistence that armand is too weak and pathetic to mean anything to lestat and that he MUST be lying about lestat starting up something with him while he's also with nicki is like ... i do wonder sometimes whether people in the fandom would be quite so insistent about all of that if he was a white redhead lmfao
