𝜗𝜚 ep 2 : pancakes and disasters

summary: It has been two years since you and Satoru welcomed your baby girl into the world. As per his usual routine, Satoru surprises you with breakfast in bed, although sometimes it may be pancakes during disasters.

a/n : I've been posting my drafts lately and this was sitting on the shelves for a long time. I've edited it, and I hope you like it !

Satoru Gojo is a skilled man who possesses the strongest technique of all time and is renowned for having the Six Eyes. However, at the moment, he is busy serving breakfast in bed for his wife while Yuki stands guard in the kitchen to ensure that no surprises are ruined.

The sun's rays were penetrating the window's curtain, which makes you feel less sleepy. You leaned on the bedroom's headboard and adjusted your position, and you put on cushions behind your back so you wouldn't feel stiff when leaning.

You made a promise to Satoru, or rather he forced you, that you wouldn't stand up and go downstairs, especially to the kitchen. It was one of those lazy Sundays where you feel like your limbs go numb whenever you try to do house chores. The day was boring and the slightest blow of the wind made your eyes droopy.

As you were lost in your thoughts, you suddenly smelled something burning. The smell was so bad that you felt like you were going to cough up smoke. You noticed that the smoke was reaching the door crack, indicating that something was burning.

"Satoru, are you guys okay? want me to help?" You shouted, just enough for Satoru to hear downstairs.

"Everything's fine! Stay in bed, we got this!" Satoru panicked as he noticed that the pancake mixture was droopy, with bits of the mixture not fully dissolved.

He furrows his brow, searching for a solution to his dilemma. He decides to make the batter once more, combining the wet and dry ingredients with great care. He adds a handful of chocolate chips to sweeten the pancake. After greasing the pan, he sets the heat to medium.

He added the pancake batter to the pan, slowly waiting for it to bubble he decided to play with his daughter who was too preoccupied with her toys.

"Whaddya want, sweets?" Satoru pinched his daughter's cheeks. He opened one of the cupboards where you usually keep her baby utensils.

"Toast pweash!" Yuki giddily answered, she waved her arms in excitement and almost knocked her baby bottle.

Satoru gently cautioned the little one as he swiftly swooped in and rescued the baby bottle from her delicate, tiny fingers. He quickly turned to the counter and picked up a fresh baguette, spreading on the creamy, avocado mash that you had prepared the previous day. He deftly opened a carton of milk and carefully poured it into the baby bottle for Yuki to drink.

"Here ya go, sweet treats." He put the meal on her baby chair and focused on the pancakes, he flipped the pancakes ensuring that both sides were golden brown. He put the pancake into your palate and added another batch of batter to the pan.

After waiting and craving food, Satoru held a tray of pancakes, and bacon on the side with orange juice as a drink. On his side was your daughter Yuki. A toast on her hand from earlier.

"My my, look who came." You chuckled, discarded the book you were reading, and looked at them.

"MWAMWA!!" Yuki screamed, she ran up to hug you but, poor Yuki she was too small to reach the bed. You carried her and placed her in your lap.

"That took long enough, toru'. Hope everything's not a mess down there." You joked, but you were half serious. Knowing Satoru, he might've made a mess.

"Well, it was nothing. It's spotless you know."

"I doubt."

"IT ACTUALLY IS!!"

"mwamwa, can i eat pancwekz now?"

Plot: Tosu Tetsuo never expected his daughter,Reika, to be a victim of domestic violence. Suspecting that her boyfriend, Matori Nobuto, is the perpetrator, Tetsuo decides to investigate him. But as he searches for evidence at Reika's apartment, he learns that his daughter is not the first victim and that a worse fate awaits her. When he is discovered by Nobuto, Tetsuo ends up killing him in the ensuing fight.

Assisted by his wife, Tetsuo hides the body in fear of retaliation from the yakuza. To add to the misfortune of the Tosu family, Nobuto happens to be the son of the mafia's head. Considered to be prime suspects behind Nobuto's disappearance, Tetsuo and his wife will have to deploy all their ingenuity to protect their daughter from the yakuza and their ruthless investigation.

Reflections on Ep. 3 of LBFAD on rewatch

Liufang Pavillion: It’s hilarious that Dieyi has been searching for the Xilan Goddess for 10,000 years, abducting countless plant spirits over that time, and the moment the Goddess actually appears right under her nose, she is about to toss her life away without a second thought! :D Luckily, a miniature sun made of DongFang QingCang’s (DFQC) powers uneclipses through a portal in the sky and he saves her (and himself!) just as she is about to be thrown into a cauldron full of evil qi, only in the nick of time. Phew, that was close!

DFQC’s bored look that he assumes every time he deals with enemies is delicious. DFQC sees Xiao Lanhua (XLH) as an object to be protected and hides her in his fist (what a contrast to the ep. 9 rescue where DFQC sees her as a person, as one of his people who is loyal to him and he is reciprocally loyal to her). XLH is therefore aware that he saved her, but does not see the devastation at his hand as his sun shoots killer rays at the Pavillion soldiers and sends shockwaves that shake the distant mountains around them. Dieyi is (rightfully) terrified. DFQC, sensing the evil qi from the cauldron and the fact that it and these people are a threat to XLH and therefore to himself, splits the cauldron in half (ha! He should have pulverised it, as he has to return in ep. 15 to do this and finish the job after Ronghao repairs it :D )

When everyone has either fled in terror or been disintegrated, DFQC examines XLH angrily. How could such a weak and pathetic creature, who can’t even protect herself, have cursed him, the most powerful being in the three realms?! No wonder he would “very very very very much like to kill” her. The fact that he can’t is tremendously frustrating and he is boiling inside. His menacing possessiveness being completely misinterpreted by XLH as affection is not only a hilarious ongoing gag, it is the only way these two could have managed to get emotionally close! :D

XLH still thinks that DFQC is an ordinary celestial criminal, because who else could he be? She heard from the other fairies in ep. 2 that celestial criminals had escaped but been captured by Changheng (CH). She’s not yet aware that members of the Moon Tribe were also incarcerated in Haotian Tower. The High Council told all the celestials that DFQC is deceased, so his real identity is the last person she would suspect him of being.

When DFQC asks her to break the curse, XLH recognises the Xilan seal due to her love of reading (an interest they share), especially of history books. She claims she couldn’t have cast this kind of spell on him as she is just a weak little orchid, so he investigates her story by examining her original form. He sees her orchid form with corroded roots, the disguise her parents bestowed upon her. Note however, that after visiting the Great Turtle in ep. 9, her form looks much more ambiguous when Sansheng examines it. DFQC lets her go, believing he doesn’t need her help. In her haste to leave, she drops the Universe Pill, which he picks up. He tries to remove the Xilan curse himself but finds, almost unprecedentedly, that this is a magic too powerful for him to neutralise.

Oblivion River: DFQC and Shangque (SQ) now know that XLH is a surviving member of the Xilan tribe but not that she is the Goddess. In fact, SQ tells DFQC in this scene that the whole tribe including the Shennu (Goddess) were wiped out 30,000 years ago. DFQC doesn’t realise she is the Goddess until ep. 26.

The implications of the curse get worse! Not only does DFQC share XLH’s physical vulnerability, he has to share her emotions as well! (oh boy, wait until he finds out about having to obey her every command! :D )

Arbiter Hall, Day 1: This is the start of the ten-or-more day period at Arbiter Hall which for DFQC, although he complains bitterly most of the time, are in retrospect the happiest and most precious days of his life. Having passed through Shuiyuntian’s Spirit Lock gate concealed by his powerful invisibility cloak, he appears at Arbiter Hall, much to XLH’s exasperation. Doesn’t she wonder where he gets these fabulous outfits from, or why an escaped criminal is so well-dressed and wears a crown? :D

XLH puts her hands on his waist and tries to stop him from entering Arbiter Hall. He pauses. Nobody else would even dare enter his close proximity, let alone touch him! Now this weak and cute little fairy keeps touching him rather intimately with her soft, warm hands and he’s not sure what to do about it. Why isn’t she afraid of him like everyone else is? Even his dominating moves, pulling her body against his and her face within an inch of his own only work momentarily. She briefly glances at his lips then decides she is not interested. “Let go of me” she says calmly. As she pushes him away, she drops the destiny leaf and DFQC summons it into his hand.

Since her efforts to snatch it back are annoying, he teleports her away with a snap of his fingers. We’ve now seen him easily teleport both himself and her, and his ability to create impenetrable invisibility cloaks around himself (and her in ep. 5). This brings me to a side note. How interesting it is that he chose not to use these abilities during a certain underwater scene in ep. 8 to teleport themselves out of the water and conceal themselves, nor to recreate a large air bubble around themselves similar to what XLH conjured when they first hit the water. Very tellingly, he instead chose to provide her with air through much more intimate means, which she was then forced to go along with for many minutes as CH and his troops searched Arbiter Hall! (fortunately for him, she also enjoyed it and is seen skipping happily through the forest afterwards) ;D

Back to the destiny leaf. What a turn of good luck! Lady Chidi’s spirit is not burned and dispersed as he thought. He recognises the destiny leaf as belonging to a mortal reincarnation of Lady Chidi through her Hellfire mark. The leaf is the key to obtaining her spirit, freeing his 100,000 loyal soldiers and reviving Cangyan Sea! Unfortunately, XLH returns and uses her powers to grapple with him over the destiny leaf. He tries to be gentle to avoid damaging the leaf but is unsuccessful. The destiny leaf was fine until they damaged it with their bickering!

Fountain Palace: CH ordered his subordinates to search the whole realm for escaped criminals – ah! But they overlooked the most important place, the home of his love! What a great excuse to see her – he decides to go there personally.

Arbiter Hall: DFQC is careful to avoid physically harming XLH while still trying to threaten her enough to get information about Lady Chidi’s destiny leaf. This is new territory for DFQC. He threatens to burn her greenhouse (and her plant spirit friends) to motivate her to obey him, but will soon discover why this is a bad idea since he shares her emotions.

While he holds her hostage, CH arrives and does not pick up on any of Creeper’s hints! Poor Creeper! She is terrified of DFQC and that he will kill XLH if she slips up (not knowing that he can’t), but still wants CH to protect XLH and the plant spirits. “The Arbiter Hall is very safe. Nobody came to steal a destiny book nor burn the greenhouse. My lord, please look for XLH” :D Why is CH so dense? Having learned that XLH is preparing for the fairies’ examination, he still keeps his distance, not taking up Creeper’s suggestion to give her guidance in person, and instead runs off to make an Immortal Pill to help her with the exam!

XLH cries. DFQC is overwhelmed by her feelings of sadness projected onto him! He realises that if he continues to upset her he will also suffer, so changes tactics to offer her the Universe Pill that she lost if she repairs the destiny leaf. XLH tries to fix the destiny leaf but is too exhausted. This leads to discussions about sleeping arrangements. “Where do you want to spend the night with benzuo?” She is still in danger from the people of Liufang Pavilion and he needs to protect her. XLH is understandably concerned at the thought of sharing a bed with a handsome stranger. DFQC's blank expression when he asks what would happen if they share a bed is priceless! This is the first of many times he looks adorably confused as he considers her words – he is very attentive (and soon, also respectful) of everything she says!

However, he still views her as an object (his one vulnerability) to be protected, so she finds he has teleported himself onto her bed (with his shoes on! The indignity!) He left a liiiittle bit of space on his left side for her and fully expects her to lie there beside him :D He is so clueless! If those two actually shared a bed at this stage in the name of protecting XLH, I’m certain she would be the only one tempted to cross a line (though he might respond). But our heroine insists on being treated as a person with her own thoughts and values, and generally wins every argument that they have. Her charming smile softens his resolve and he respectfully goes back to his own room.

Despite him being so annoying, XLH has already started to care for him, and in her dream, is terrified that he will be captured and killed!

Dungeon Meshi rewatch ep 9 notes

the ex party member's name is Namari (did not retain that on my first watch but then again, that's what the rewatch is for)

Marcille resents her for "abandoning" the party bc they couldn't pay her

Mr. and Mrs. Tansu are the elderly couple who employed her after she left the party (wow it's only been a week and I feel so much has happened already)

Kaka and Kiki are the twins they adopted (it comes up later in the ep if I'm not mistaken) (actually I think it's from the manga extra @eelo sent us in chat)

they're "personal scholars" so I guess they do research in the dungeon on behalf of someone?

ah so here we get some info on how/why resurrection works in the dungeon: the soul is bound to the body within the dungeon so no matter how damaged the body is, the soul won't leave

grumpy pants says it's not so much the dead coming back to life, as it is death being forbidden in the dungeon - which is a curse

now it's revealed that Senshi's cooking pot is made out of adamant, a really powerful/resistant material (he's becoming more and more sus bc he knew of the dungeon before everyone else, and now this "family heirloom" shield turned pot that's made out of some epic rare material… I've got my 👀 on you Senshi boy)

why do I feel like there is some important lore there in his backstory… was he supposed to be something but only wanted to live a simple life of cooking monsters so he ran away to the dungeon? are we gonna meet his fam later on? hmmmmm probably not bc nothing in this anime is predictable hahaha

Stargate Atlantis S05E01 ↳ RFW's Favorite Stargate Whump Moments

The Sign ep 5 and YES - he was in cahoots. Knew it. I was kinda hoping the vile rapist would at least have his dick chopped off before he was rescued but hey, you can't always get what you want. Absolutely terrible investigation though - they found the scene of the crime(s) ages ago then didn't bother to go back and search it. Tut. Shao Fei would never - even if he had to crawl through the still smoking embers of the building.

We got a nice wet towel bath (which is the obvious post-stabbing treatment) and a sex scene fake out - Phaya's thirst is evident and building... the whole bed/bolster scene at the end of ep 5 managed to be both sexy and wholesomely sweet.

The Khem and Thongthai background was cute - I particularly liked Khem clapping like a seal on the bed (it did make me check on MDL to see if Cheewin had directed any of this though).

I'm amazed as I'm watching that I'm actually relatively unspoiled. I mean, I know that the end game is Phaya and Tharn and the doc is the bad guy, and I know there's a whole naga & garuda myth playing out but I don't know the details so I'm fairly clueless. Babe does look rather beautiful as a nagini though.

Also, my dear Phaya, try using your words rather than just dragging Tharn away from his friend* and demanding he leave with you. It would work a lot better.

*yes I know he's not really a friend but you know what I mean...

Super Mario Brothers Super Show (Season 1, Ep. 1)

A couple of scattered thoughts on the first episode that I’m watching on youtube.

I’m only going to be paying attention to the cartoon parts. I like the acting and the sets of the live actions bits are fine, but quite frankly I would like to strangle whoever it was that was put in charge of the laugh track. The random canned laughter at nonsensical moments made that segment borderline unwatchable for me.

Okay, here we go... Season 1, Episode 1: “The Bird! The Bird!”

According to the opening monologue, Mario and Luigi just rescued Princess Toadstool (would liked to have seen that, but okay) and are now searching for “the magic” that will free The Princess’s kingdom and send Mario & Luigi back to Brooklyn, (I guess they haven’t decided on a MacGuffin yet.) Toad is pulling Princess Toadstool along like a sled dog before getting scooped up by a lispy birdo, who has saliva actively pouring out of her mouth.

It has been 30 seconds.

I’ve got to say, most of the voice acting is pretty good except for Princess Toadstool. I hope her delivery gets better further on in the show, because right now every sentence out of her mouth sounds super phoned in. 

Luigi unironically crying because he thinks that Toad is gone for good is actually really sweet?

 In fact, all of Team Mario have some nice little interactions. Good to see that no matter how ridiculous things get or what the continuity is, there’s still that comradery. 

What is with all the spit in this episode?  First we’ve got the birdo with the hypersalivation issue, and then we’ve got the... whatever those are... licking King Koopa’s feet for an uncomfortable length of time. 

Makes me worry about how much of this show is going to be some 80s writer’s poorly-disguised fetish

No, but seriously, wtf are these things??? What game are they from?

Princess Toadstool pointed out a fire flower and Mario’s first instinct was to eat it asdflkakf why is he so hungry.

The Mario Brothers do a weird pasta pattycake parody to hype themselves up?... alright. Weird, but kinda cute.

King Koopa showed up with an entire battalion to capture Team Mario, got hit by exactly 3 turnips, then ordered a retreat lmao.

The episode ends with a giant pink worm gravely insulted that Mario didn’t want to eat him.

Conclusion: I am terrified and intrigued.

Our Skyy 2 x Bad Buddy x A Tale of Thousand Stars Ep 3 Stray Thoughts

Last week, we returned to the world of Bad Buddy to find Pat and Pran in their closeted era during the later part of college. They've maintained the façade that they're enemies for years, with only four of their friends being let in. Currently, their faculties are competing for access to an auditorium for a play. Pran's team won out but he needs to get permission from the story owners to continue, who just so happen to be Tian and Phupha of A Tale of Thousand Stars.

So, they decide to go to Pha Pun Dao to find them but Pran is determined to prove he doesn't need Pat's help, despite the fact that they are both clearly better together. There, they realize that Tian and Phupha are experiencing similar struggles that they faced before.

Many hijinks ensued. I thought Tian was going to kill Pran before they bonded. Phupha and Pat definitely messed around. Now Tian, Pran, and a precocious child are lost in the woods trying to recover Torfun's diary.

Just Pran and his tote bag against the world.

Oh, interesting. Pat likely went through the draft?

Of course Phupha taught Tian how to find help if he gets lost and Tian was just being stubborn.

I'm okay with this split on the pairs.

Ah, yes. The reminder that Tian is a heart patient.

And now Pat is covered in leeches. My goodness.

This man really thinks he can sniff Pran out in the forest.

I'm such a sucker for the ATOTS theme. It starts playing during the reunion rescue and I'm instantly simping.

Looking at Pat, rescuers also get injured when looking for lost people.

Of course Pat and Pran start bickering for real over credit.

I suspected Phupha brought Tian's medicine in the first place. Glad to be right.

I like seeing Phupha and Tian care for each other while they thought the other was sleeping. Gotta remind us that they still care for each other.

Yes, Pran. Please give Pat his love score. Absolutely unsurprised that these two released some of the tension after all that stress and worry.

Oh good. We've paired the two most unbending guys together to search for Kampung.

Now Tian is lost again. So stubborn.

Pran projecting hard onto Phupha: "Why do I feel like you're just insecure and not sure if you're good enough to tell anyone that story?'

Gosh, Pran may have fallen first, but Pat fell so hard.

Holy shit Ohm and Nanon are so good together. I will be thinking about this "I can't live without you" scene for the rest of my week at least, and probably my life.

Phupha finally finished reading the diary. I wonder if the play even matters anymore.

Tomorrow we see Phupha and Tian reconcile and wave goodbye to Pat and Pran.

I have a lot of feelings to sort out. I feel like this weekend will call for intense blogging about both of these couples.

There’s a couple hours of missing time in ep 38. It starts with light coming into the dungeon when LLH escapes, and it’s light out as he’s sneaking around.

There’s light coming into JLQ’s quarters behind DFS while she taunts him and LLH comes to rescue him.

Then we see LLH carrying DFS piggy back and it’s dark out. I’m taking this to mean that the previous scene takes place around sunset. That gives time for LLH to unlock the chains, pull him out of the pool, and start trying to escape.

In the newlywed room DFS rebuilds his meridians - with help - and the very next scene is drinking wine, reminiscing about the moon. Considering DFS says this is a more severe injury than from the battle at the East Sea, they still need to clean up and change clothes, we can assume a large chunk of time is spent here.

Now the moon is shown above the trees but it’s hard to tell with the window so small whether it’s still rising or at peak. Assuming it’s at peak, let’s say the scene takes place at midnight. Even if the moon has started to go down, it’s still high above the trees, so midnight is still close enough of a guess.

Immediately after this, DFS notices the false wall where his sword and other treasures are hidden, and LLH suggests there’s more to be found and they search further. They start searching, the outside of the room is shown with night turning to day, and then they find the mechanism for the hidden room with the instructions on how to get rid of the karmic bug.

Considering how smart and detail oriented they both are, what the hell were y’all doing for those few hours?
