After today's episode I have to say this again: you can think Zoro is gay without being a fucking misogynist. What I'm reading today about Hiyori is making my blood boil and most people are not getting the significance in Zoro's silence.

I love and appreciate how this moment was handled in the episode. A quiet moment respecting two of the heroes of the battle, in the place Oden Castle once stood. The bowl of oden in the opening with just the favorite ingredients of the two of them is a really nice touch as well. I got and get teary-eyed over both.

Kiku leading the follow up is perfect, I love it. The baby sibling chopstick flashback even appears again! Seeing her journey from orphan in the snowy streets of Ringo to the confident young woman she has grown into is so special to me. And she's right. Izo, Ashura, and Oden will always be in her and everyone's hearts.

The visuals and colour choices in this episode were really solid. The gang looked so good in their everything.
Also, wow. You suck at this, Zoro. That poor girl.
Also, also, Usopps little clothes fitting stint. That was the funniest.
Also, also, also, that whole thing with Sanji and Chuji absolutely had me. That poor girl. The Sanji fangirls relate, I am sure. C'mere Robin, let me hit slap you. Again.
WHERE MY WANI THO
Also, can we adopt Tama? Benji needs a little sister.

Just watched episode 1084 and Zoro is the gayest man alive! Most beautiful woman in Wano is literally grasping for his attention and he’s talking about a man!?

Before moving on from Episode 1084 and turning my eyes to the horizon of Chapter 1099, I liked this scene too. Zoro & Hiyori. Because it fits so nicely with how I read Zoro's time in Wano. The idea he just sorta...deadpans Hiyori's obvious interest. I mean, you guys have all given me many compelling theories about how he only has eyes for Luffy, or maybe it's the forlorn resignation sweet, sweet Kiku is way out of his league, but if you ask me this felt like that "temptation" theme in line with a very Buddhist character arc.
Wano offered Zoro the chance to have just about anything a man could want. If he wanted to he could theoretically have a legitimate claim to be Ringo's new Daimyo. With the new Shogun's blessing and his sister as your wife. He could have that in a country where he'd be a national hero, being the muscle behind Momo. Thankfully Yamato's going to do that because Zoro's eye is on the prize, though I wonder what would happen if Hiyori offered him Shusui back for Enma.

Farewells Said. (And Farewells Not Said)
1084 is very clever with the characters it includes together in scenes, easily worth a post.
Luffy, Nami, Chopper, and Brook & our Kozuki friendos, sans Kin, Momo, and Hiyori, begin what appears to be a concluding scene, though what I love is that it never fully concludes because of Carrot interrupting. That's a trick Wano plays all the time. Giving characters scenes or having them being involved in ways that affect or say something about others. We'll see it all through out this episode.
Hiyori and Toko will have a scene with Zoro later in this episode, and Kin and Momo will have theirs in 1085. Though that interaction for every other Kozuki friend remains intentionally kept on hold. For what reason? I'm sure it will make sense eventually. Especially given that the Academy side manga recently did something similar with Kiku.

The Straw Hats here say their farewells to Miyagi, Tristan, and Carrot. And many a garchu was shared.

Zoro meets with Hiyori and Otoko to show respect for Yasuie, then they say their farewells. This gag about not returning Enma is gold.

Sanji's scene is with Osome, the lady he helped during his fight with Queen, and also returned new mouse friend Chuji to, is nice. Osome telling Sanij that the soba he makes motivates her to work hard, and Sanji being totally sweet and respectful about it? Love it, more of this Sanji please.

Franky and his carpenter boss, Minatomo, have a very manly farewell, where not a single tear was shed by anyone.

Now Usopp's scene is very interesting to me. Of all the locals whose story he was involved in, Kin & Kiku would be the two you'd expect him to have one with, due his role in rescuing them during the battle. We know Kin's farewell is next episode though, and Kiku is with the group at the grounds where Oden Castle once stood. That's two opportunities for a proper farewell scene with Kiku to have happened. One interrupted and the other she is absent for.
What Usopp's scene focuses on instead, is choosing fabric for what I imagine will be for making the Straw Hats' Jolly Roger, which Luffy will give to the Kozuki Clan next episode. Which I love. It's a wonderfully simple and effective way to add more to that important exchange of friendship, and manages to keep Kin and Kiku on the mind, even without them being here in person for Usopp's scene, if you know what to look for. The wall scrolls in this scene add some nice extra spice to the idea as well. Flowers and cranes are often associated with Kiku, and fabrics have a tie to Kin'emon, due to his devil fruit being a clothing power. And finally~

Luffy and Tama enjoying bowls of Otsuru's delicious Oshiruko. I love the memories of Act One which are evoked. Luffy and Tama sharing food is so central to Luffy's,(and Ace's,) journey through Wano. Seeing so many familiar sentiments here is perfect.
And we once again have Kiku being absent in a scene where she would effortlessly fit. She is truly Wano's most mysterious flower. Ooh, wonder if Tama had already woven the hat we see Chopper with later? I hope she made hats for everyone.
Truly wonderful effort from Toei with this episode, hats off to 1084. 🎉

I watched episode 1084 of One Piece today and...
Sanji
Please
Stay like this
This is the kind of man we want.
And it's so ironic how he has two girls (Pudding and Some) obviously in love or at least interested and he treats them with kindness and complete sweetness but he completely loses his cool when he is with Nami or Robin who are not interested in him.
Don't take it wrong, he treats both Nami and Robin the same way but ONCE the girls begin the have an interest he becomes the sweet, caring, kind and OBLIVIOUS SANJI.
Gosh he's way too cute for me. For once the gag was normal and not excessive. He did heart eyes and all but it was still smooth and not... uncomfortable
I wish it was the same all the time

I've been waiting for this one all week. After playing Wano's supposedly "rushed" ending completely straight, only padding out some small amounts when all signs pointed to a decent opportunity for quality filler, we have one additional entry. Next week will likely be a straight retelling of Chapter 1057 and I bet they'll play up the theatrical tone whiplash like they've done everything else. Note like the rest of the arc, Kiku gets some of the rare extra love and I'm counting highlighting the field of flowers for her absent fight.
So...what will we get here? A filler episode likely won't be wildly altering the story. We're clearly using Tama and the samurai sans Momo & Kin. Baseline very happy to see this because even if it's just filling in goodbyes that's a very worthwhile filler. But we do have the peculiarities around Kiku. By now we've seen OP Academy pull the same trick with her & Yamato. The anime has leaned into a lot of the scenes we highlight with her and really between that first fight with Kanjuro and the beautiful extra flashback she got the most sweetening in the Raid. So I'm damn sure curious seeing the teahouse sneak into this.
Otsuru likely did not build an entire new teahouse, we just saw last episode Okobore was razed and she wanted to go back to life in the Capitol. The preview makes it look like we may jump around a lot. But if we're fabricating an entire teahouse at the end...why wouldn't I ponder having a little fun with the Poster Girl? Here's my guess. Without saying it directly, that scene with Zoro & Hiyori? We're going to suspiciously cut to it right when all signs point to something significant between Luffy and his sumo buddy. Filler episode's not gonna give you too much, but one more big example of the classic trick is bang on for what we've seen.
