The province says no changes are coming to Alberta's COVID-19 vaccine availability, despite what appear to be claims from a UCP MLA that the government has discussed banning the shot. Eric Bouchard, who represents Calgary-Lougheed, appeared on the podcast “Unscrew the News” last month. During the chat, vaccines — and Bouchard's vocal opposition to them — were discussed at length. One short section in particular has brought forward questions about the province's shot strategy.

Let's Talk About Shigaraki
I've had some time to collect my thoughts, so I think I'm ready to finally talk about Tomura.
Fair warning, this is more of a rant. Mostly because there isn't much to say except that Horikoshi hates this motherfucker, almost as much as he hates Izuku.
Tomura is a character whose autonomy and agency has been stripped by the narrative repeatedly. And that's not really uncommon in MHA (Izuku, Hawks, Shoto, etc.), so why am I pointing it out? Because Horikoshi's assassination of his character didn't need to happen. In fact, it feels like he bent over backwards to make sure it happened.
Anyone who's been around my blog long enough knows that the MLA arc is one of my favorites, I even put it in my top five MHA arcs. It did a great job of having Shigaraki progress as not only a villain but a leader and come into his own power. My one issue with it and what kept it out of top three was that it seemed to immediately undo all the progress Tomura made by making him want AFO (the quirk). Him gaining this quirk didn't tie into his goals at all and it flipped him from wanting to use his destruction to make a world for the LOV to be free in (Eric Vale's delivery of this scene in dub was fire btw, go watch it) to him just wanting more power. It was an extremely weird decision.
The PLA War further perpetuates this and it causes some confusion as to where Horikoshi was going with his character. Instead of a newly established in-control and ambitious villain, he turned Tomura into a puppet for All For One to use for his own benefit.
(Off topic, but that also felt out of character for AFO. Prior to this, he seemed to want Tomura to succeed and carve his own path, even taking the time to gently correct his outbursts and give him actual advice and guidance. You could argue that this was manipulation on his part, but it didn't feel like it at the time. Why would he want Tomura to be level-headed and calm if the plan was to use him as a husk for his own control? It felt way more like Tomura was initially meant to be his successor, not his puppet. This reads more like another Horikoshi retcon)
For some reason, it feels like the intention was to turn him into a victim for Izuku to save. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing... Except he didn't develop Izuku enough for him to be able to do that.
Izuku doesn't understand Tomura, he even admits this himself. He sees Tomura as someone who causes destruction for the hell of it. And you know what? He wasn't wrong going off his few interactions with him. But that's where we hit our problem; Izuku has not interacted enough with Tomura.
And honestly? There's no excuse for this. They're supposed to be our protagonist and antagonist. They're supposed to be parallels with one another. So why in the world do they only really have one intimate scene together?
(I have mentioned this before, but Izuku should have been the one kidnapped, not Bakugou. Bakugou being in this position provides nothing to the plot, especially because All Might would have sacrificed his power for anyone. Bakugou isn't a dynamic or integral enough character for this to benefit the character progression of Tomura or the rest of the LOV, but Izuku is. Him learning why they're villains would have really done so much for their characters, as well as his own)
This leaves their interactions during the Final War completely stagnant and stale. Izuku doesn't understand Tomura, and Tomura knows that. He sees Izuku as a goody-two-shoes with no understanding of how dark the world can be. Except Izuku does understand because he experienced it. But how would Tomura know that? And how would Izuku know how Tomura became a villain? There's no understanding between them which is why Izuku is unable to connect with Tomura like he did Stain and Gentle Criminal. Which is why him trying to save Tomura goes nowhere.
It didn't have to be like this though. Even if it was rushed, Horikoshi could have squeezed it in. He could have made the effort. He chose not to. Partly because he can't be assed to give either of them good development, but also because he avoids the shit Izuku went through like the plague. He hates to acknowledge it and when he does it's sugarcoated (and used for Bakugou's gain, not Izuku's own). Because of he gets into the nitty gritty of it, his favorite blond rat's "development" goes right out the window.
Horikoshi wrote himself into a corner here, which is why the Izuku vs Tomura fight is so lackluster. Their interactions mean nothing, so their fight means nothing. What's his solution to this?
To fucking kill Tomura and retcon his entire backstory to force AFO back into the plot.
The last shreds of agency Tomura had as a villain were ripped away. He can't even have his own tragic backstory at this point. Hell, Kotaro can't even own his own shitty decisions, blame is pinned on Nana even though him abusing his kids was his choice and AFO somehow had a hand in him having kids?? Ok.
(Abusive man not being held accountable without someone else- a woman- taking the shit for it, what else is new in MHA)
Also, WHAT THE HELL DO YOU MEAN AFO GAVE HIM DECAY?
In all fairness, this has been a theory for a while. But again, the entire point of his character in the MLA arc was that he took charge of his "cursed" power and made it his own. So AFO giving him Decay erases another part of his development.
(And to add to this, what exactly was the point of having him take a quirk away from Tomura? Why not make him born quirkless so a parallel can be drawn to Izuku (and even Aoyama)? What is it with Horikoshi and quirkless aversion? There are four characters born quirkless in the narrative even though they're supposed to make up 20% of the population: Izuku, Aoyama, All Might, Melissa. Only Melissa stays quirkless)
AFO just happening upon Tomura- desperate, shunned, and vulnerable- who just happens to be Nana's grandson makes him so much eviler and more despicable. Him seeing an exposed child and deciding to use him to be cruel to Nana's memory and Toshinori drives home his callousness. Making it so that he orchestrated it just takes away from that. Tbh, it just makes him look like a loser. So, both Tomura and AFO just suffered character assassination.
Back to killing Tomura, do you know how awful this comes off? This character claimed his own power and goals, only for that to be stripped by making him a puppet, the attempt to save him is drawn out and goes nowhere, and then he just fucking dies. Like he never mattered at all. Like trying to save him was a complete waste of time and there's nothing about him worth saving.
And people saying he deserved to die for his crimes, THAT ISN'T THE POINT. It isn't about what he did or didn't do. I couldn't care less about that. It's about how Horikoshi stripped him of agency again and again and then discarded him when he didn't serve the shitty narrative he created.
Tomura and Izuku deserved so much better than this

Purpose (Propósito): ¿Es objetiva o tiene sesgo?

no we still teaching about crediting authors. at least in texas our state exam includes writing with text evidence and the kids have to at least reference where it came from. just as a teacher, it really shows you that some people will always steal writing because they don't think of it as 'real'.
second ask:
sorry for the second asks, but teaching about credible citing and how to do it is literally a standard so everyone learns it.
oh okay well that's reassuring to hear! i remember learning MLA & APA citation in high school in texas but that's been years now.
i think you're right that they just don't see fanfic writing or graphic-making as real creative work, so they just don't care. it's especially easier to fall into that thinking you see an anonymizing username on a site like tumblr/AO3 instead of name like "F Scott Fitzgerald" or "Eric Foner" that people tend to have more ~respect~ for.
even in academia as grad student, i've seen people more likely to be happy citing the powerhouse researchers' names that everyone bows down to, but conveniently not citing the names of BIPOC or female scholars even when using their research. very easy for them to dismiss the author's importance in that context, sadly.
*sigh*

Hey kids, overpopulation is a myth and Thanos was a little b*tch.
(Links are integrated into the text cause this ain’t done in APA or MLA, but still, do some searches and come to your own opinions. That’ll help you practice researching on the web and having critical thinking skills. And some articles are hidden behind pay walls, but I wanted to make sure you guys could at least read the first page for your own eyes.)
Don’t let the greedy rich or big corporations fool you into thinking that impoverished people around the world and in your local ghettos having babies is why world hunger/thirst exists.
We have shizltons of food. According to this 2018 report from the World Hunger Education Service, we’re already producing enough food in the world to support every person living in it. Additionally, according to this article in the Journal of Sustainable Agriculture that was written by Eric Holt-Giménez, et al., the world’s food production is on par with providing sustenance for about 10 billion people (an abridged version of the JoSA article is here on HuffPost, thank you Mr. Holt-Giménez). As of, aboooout...5 hours ago when I first started writing this post, the world population was at 7.77 billion, and that’s rounding up. We have another 2.23 billion people that need to be born right this second for that fear to be actual Danger Zone levels that common media is insisting we’re getting close to (a whole 28.7% population jump right at this moment, when we’re only increasing by about 1% per year at the moment). That, and our methods for food production increases the amount of food at a higher exponential rate than the human reproduction rate.
Ah, actually, according to Dr. Doug Boucher on the Union of Concerned Scientists blog, human reproduction hasn’t been exponential for a while. Reproduction rates have been in roughly a straight line since the last exponential curve that occurred and ended in the 1960s... Hm. Everyone remember baby boomers? There’s a reason that generation is called baby boomer—all the post-war survivors were very, very interested in passing on their genes and continuing the human race after such a drastic event caused them to believe that they would not survive long. That high of an increase was never going to be constant, so the idea that the world’s population is still increasing in the same rate as a post World War generation is shortsighted at best and flat out stupid at worst. As of the 1960s, worldwide birth rates have been on a gradual decrease, with some countries now complaining that it is decreasing too much (Yeah, I’m looking at you China...and, surprisingly, Europe’s looking a little worried, too). Still, we will still need to continue food production in order to stay above the need line since we’re at about 1% general world population growth each year now, however, as The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations states, the main issue among others regarding food production is not to provide more for already wealthy nations or that there would be too many people to provide food for, but to efficiently distribute food to developing and/or impoverished countries or poor communities, as noted in their 2002, 2006, and 2012 reports.
Now, that was just food. Water’s a similar yet different story. Even though only 2.5% of the water on Earth is fresh and only about 1% of that is usable because the ice caps are big chunks of freshwater, the Earth is pretty dang big. For example, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) states in an estimate that freshwater lakes make up about .26% of our freshwater amounts...which is about 21,830 cubic miles of water. The average U.S. shower head lets out 2.5 gallons of water per minute. If you take a 10 minute shower....nah, let’s go further—if you take a 20 minute shower, that’s 50 gallons of freshwater for cleaning your body. Terrible, right? Well, the conversion between gallons and cubic miles is to divide the gallons by 1.101e+12. For those of you who don’t like letters in math or scientific notation, that “e” indicates how many times the “point” needs to move forwards or backwards.
So, let’s do the math. To convert 50 gallons to it’s needed amount in cubic miles, we have to divide 50 by 1.101e+12, or, 50 / 1,101,000,000,000. What’s that Johnny? Looks like your 20 minute shower just used up about 4.5408e-11 cubic miles of freshwater!! Still don’t like letters in your math? That’s 0.000000000045408 cubic miles of water! Just for funzies, if all 7.77 billion people took a 20 minute shower at the same time, each one using 0.000000000045408 cubic miles of water, everyone would use about 0.35282016 cubic miles of water at the same time. But what about baths? In the U.S., a common bathtub holds about 80 gallons (302 liters) of water. That’s not counting the small bathtubs that only hold 40 gallons, but I’m going for the larger denominator here. So, once again, we have to use that equation to get some cubic miles: 80 / 1,101,000,000,000 = 0.000000000072653 cubic miles per 80 gallon bath. But really, who uses the whole bathtub when taking a bath? But again, for funzies, if all 7.77 billion people, including infants, took a full, 80 gallon bath all at once, that would be using about 0.56451381 cubic miles of water. How many cubic miles of freshwater rivers do we have? 21,830? You mean we haven’t broken a single cubic mile of water yet even with everyone having a spa day? That’s craaaazy.
Does food/water production loss occur? Yeah, it does. The average loss occurs at all points of production, but you see a bigger impact of loss at consumer levels, according to the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT). I’m not talking about a dad cooking a few too many hash browns for breakfast, I’m talking about major chain restaurants that buy up large amounts of food and end up not using them before expiration. The same for water—while sometimes usable water is not always accessible, more would be had it not been for water pollution caused by major corporations and governments who don’t take the time to clean and replace their city pipes to make water usable IM F*CKIN LOOKING AT YOU, FLINT, MICHIGAN. Additionally, water goes through a constant recycling process, thus the Earth never runs out of water. So we really don’t need or have to dig and construct through Native American burial grounds to make pipelines, all while using resources that pollute and cause further issues with the environment—casual reminder that clean energy is ready to go at any time and some places have already started the move to 100% renewable energy and it could potentially start with the right planning—we just need to redistribute the water in ways that make a bit more sense. The same with the food; the major issue is making sure that the people who needs it gets it, not how much is currently being produced.
Ah, speaking of other resources, all of this stuff is interconnected, you know. As you might have read in the previously provided articles, food and water production is integrated with other resources, whether it is in the production of those resources or the resources are used to produce food/water. Corporations use high amounts of freshwater to provide energy for our crops while sometimes mixing the water with harmful pesticides or feeding the animals with water and food pumped full of harmful drugs (not all the drugs are bad, but some are), then other corporations use and waste tons of food that end up getting dumped into landfills and producing enough methane to give cow farts a run for their money. “Overpopulation” has been attached to hunger, climate change, economic deficits, poverty, etc., but what it really looks like for the food issue at least is that it’s an issue with misplaced distribution and a waste of resources at the usage level on a macroeconomic scale. I would hazard to state that, considering the interconnected nature of different living necessities, the lack of adequate distribution is the cause for the other issues as well. In fact, it is proven by several articles and studies listed that it is not “overpopulation” but poverty that is the Number 1 cause for hunger and a lack of access to water. But that’s another rabbit hole.
So then, if it’s not an individual person issue or because of more babies being born each year, especially to people in certain *coughnonwhiteand/orcolonizedcough* countries, I guess you could say it’s... corporate lies.
Yep. Corporate lies + alternating between microaggressive and macroaggressive racism combo. You know, considering “who’s having the babies.”
Not saying that you’re a fool if you want to help the environment in your little ways, like monitoring personal food waste and taking shorter showers to keep the world well fed and watered. In fact, doing so is good in their own little way for personal mindfulness and beliefs as long as you don’t do that thinking your micro-action is having the macro-impact of a big industry.
I’m saying maybe shake your fist at your favorite restaurants and corporate leaders before looking at your local ghetto or across any borders and wondering if you should reenact that part of slavery and/or colonization where people were forcefully sterilized.

Hey can I please request writing MLAndersen0. Patrick’s feelings towards the other MLA characters?
[ Sorry! This is gonna be hella OOC! ~ HABIT ]~~ ~~“Well, for starters, let’s start with Michael. Michael was a pretty good kid, y’know? Never fought against me. He was surprisingly able to function after two to three hours of sleep every night. Who knew that was possible? Anyways, Michael was nice to have around. He should’a gotten that sleep walkin thing checked out though, heard he was a little dangerous when he did that.~~ ~~Who else is there? Shaun, right. Okay. Well for one he was a stubborn little prick. Took him a lot of convincing and threats just to get him to call me by my real name. However, it was fun to scare and torment the little fucker. Just over-all messin with him brought a smile to my face. ~~ ~~Stormy. Whoo. That girl was a fighter! ‘Least when she was alive anyway. It’s sooo sad that she died! How’d she go out again? Was it… ohh, right. Sacrificed to the tall fella! What a shame that was. That being said, she was quite similar to Shaun. A difficult little girl. All though, in all honesty i never saw her that much. She was always busy with Shaun or something..~~ ~~Eric. Eric, Eric, Eric. I remember him… He was a nosy FUCK. Couldn’t mind his own business for more then a second! It was so fucking funny listening to him plead and cry out to me as I covered him, head to toe, in fucking gasoline. Such a shame I wasn’t able to actually set him a-blaze. I would of loved that.. Anyway, Eric was nosy, and got in the way. Teaching him a lesson was fun.”~~ ~~

'I want to be myself again': Moncton woman fights for addictions services
Monica Leger is using her own experience to advocate for others, all while trying to navigate a system that doesn’t seem to have space for her.
“For me, I just want to go and have help,” she said. “I want to go to rehab or go even see a specialist or someone who can actually do something for me so I won’t lose my life, because I lost so much in the past.”
For two weeks now, Leger says she has urgently been trying to check herself into a rehab facility in the province.
“I’m struggling with everyday life,” she said. “I want to push. I want to be a better mom. I want to be myself again, I want to feel myself again.”
“I want to fight for my life,” she cried.
She says that she has struggled with mental health and addictions since she was a young child, eventually turning to alcohol and drugs. However, she says trying to get help through the health-care system is an uphill battle.
On Feb. 8, she says she went to the hospital for help, and two days later, she was sent to a detox facility.
“While I was in detox, for me, it felt like I was scared because the medication I was taking was too strong and I had so much side effects on it, and they told me to just keep on going,” she said, adding that she checked herself out 11 days later.
“I got cravings, I got upset and I got out,” she explained. “The next day I called back, crying that I wanted the help and that I felt so awful to just leave and they denied me and said I went there for 11 days, it was more than enough.”
She says she needs more help now, but it’s a cry for help that her and her family feels is falling on deaf ears.
“We did try to get me into the rehab in Campbellton and another in Saint John, and the waiting list is too long,” she said.
Unfortunately, Leger’s story isn’t uncommon, according to New Brunswick Green Party MLA Megan Mitton, who says the average wait time for rehab can be up to six months in the province.
“We’re talking about life or death for some people. That’s really at stake here,” she said.
Mitton says she asked questions to the deputy minister of health on Thursday regarding mental health and addictions services in the province. However, she says there just aren’t enough services in the province.
“It’s very frustrating and heartbreaking sometimes to see what people are dealing with,” said Mitton. “People are advocating, asking me to advocate for them, trying to find a way to get the health care they need and just keep hitting roadblocks.”
In fact, Leger says the only reason she got into detox as quickly as she did was because an MLA advocated on her behalf.
“There are 88 detox beds spread out across seven locations in the province,” she Mitton. “When it comes to rehab, there are 12 beds in Campbellton and 12 high-intensity beds at Ridgewood in Saint John. So we’re talking about 24 beds.”
CTV News did reach out to Deputy Health Minister Eric Beaulieu, who was unavailable for an interview on Friday.
However, in a statement to CTV News, the Department of Health said there are a number of initiatives underway to respond with the increased demand, including trying to increase the number of full-time positions in mental health and addiction sites.
“The province is also funding six new addiction treatment beds at Campbellton’s Addiction and Mental Health Services to support individuals who need a high-intensity, bed-based service,” said communications officer Sean Hatchard for the Department of Health. “Services provided in New Brunswick include access to one-at-a-time therapy, withdrawal management program (detox), Live-in Concurrent Disorder Program (rehab), Intensive Day Program, outpatient counselling, and opioids agonist treatment.”
As for Leger, she is just hoping that she can get help soon.
“A lot of people will judge or point out at people that have addictions or problems with their life by saying that they will never change,” she said. :I really think that deep inside, a lot of them want to change. It’s just the help is not there.”
Hatchard added that people who are struggling are no less than anyone else.
“Try to be there for them, try to not talk about the past or what they’ve done wrong, but help them as much as they need.”
