stacy beaumont; the teased new character from new jersey rats. very fun to draw!
when her design was released; it did made me think that the entire story maybe took place in the prohibition era, but then I remembered that instagram was a thing in the narrative so it couldn't be lmao

Who's that? A New Jersey Rat from the past? You'll see soon, in The New Orleans Rats prequel.

I NEED TO KNOW THIS How did Jean and Stacy breakup 😟
(Like what led to it 😘💅)
I'm not sure of the details of the exact breaking point yet lmao. I'm planning on fleshing out more of their past relationship in The Havana Rats, but basically there were a few things:
- The distance. Montreal is a 6-hour drive from New Jersey, and on top of that Jean and Stacy are both frequently on the move.
- Stacy was bad for Jean and he knew it. She'd encourage his bad side, and Jean couldn't help but indulge her. This conflicted with his desire to keep his head low, and his plans to one day leave the Cosa Nostra.
- Stacy had too many connections to the mafia, and was too visible of an individual. Towards the end of their relationship he was planning on vanishing one day, and he couldn't see himself staying long-term with someone who knows multiple members of the "family" and makes frequent highly-public appearances.
- Jean's own personal flaws. He eventually fell legitimately in love with Stacy, but refused to admit that to himself, only ever telling her he loved her when drunk or under extreme mental stress. He'd cope by telling himself she was just a temporary comfort, but that attitude conflicted directly with his nature as a romantic and made their relationship strain.

Re: The New Orleans Rats
Other people, cowards: Nooooo! What do you mean Jean was “”with”” someone before the intern!?!? Weeehhh my intern would be so jealous!
Me, not a coward: nah, Intern is laughing like a hyena at these 3 idiots and is also a raging bisexual. They get it.
