I am so used to him being written like a clown; always on the receiving end of disrespect and portrayed to be dumb af that when I stumbled on your fic (the one where Finarfin was kidnapped), it was such a breath of fresh air because he is portrayed as a competent leader and a terrifying eldritch dude (that scares the elves) and with dignity. Amazing, kudos to you and your brilliant mind babe.

thank you so much anon! i'm sorry it took me so long to answer <3 i'm glad you like my portrayal of eönwë. i think the fandom at large overlooks his canon characterisation: he is the lord of the maiar, he is a warrior (the strongest of arda iirc), he is a war leader, and he is also knowledgable and respected, as his stay in Numenor indicates. let him be all these things! let him be competent! let him be smart! let him be scary! if the istari were powerful, imagine how terrifying their lord must be.

sorry idk but the way the world is so fast and the people in it still want it to be faster is sooo annoying to me. people groaning while standing in line for 3 minutes people being mad the train ride is gonna take 2 hours people complaining that the bus is a few minutes late people being angry that construction work is taking months even though it used to take decades. don't you see the world is already so so so fast in every single aspect can't you understand that being mad will do nothing and just make your mood worse. enjoy the moments of stillness you're given. just stand in line and look at the people around you. sit on the train and watch the scenery. you'll get there.

the visual inspiration for this was a combination of Frederic William Burton's Meeting on the Turret Stairs and also Bernardo Cavallino's The vision of St. Dominic receiving the Rosary from the Virgin

this was supposed to be just a one off illustration to get the thoughts out of my system, but then I started thinking about medieval politics and warfare and plagues and a castle and home as both a place of refuge, a prison, and a tomb, so perhaps they will end up as ex voto characters as well.

you may say, hey! that rosary looks like it has too many beads! it's a fifteen decade rosary, probably. dominicans are really into marian devotions. it works out.

also. spiral style stair cases. oh boy. it was that unexpectedly more difficult than I originally thought it would be to draw. the more I think about it, the less I understand them, even though I had a million photos of the stairs in front of me while I was drawing it.

God forbid a cast of characters be multifaceted and have actual flaws and unpleasant aspects other than "grr angsty hero" and "whoops i'm so clumsy". Sometimes character dynamics and arcs need to be prioritized above "who would i personally be niceys with irl"
