I Wonder Which One Has My Eyes
Bright gold caught her eye like a flicker of a star behind a telescope. Not unexpected, given the event Pooja Naberrie was attending. There were plenty of people dressed in gold here. It was, after all, a senatorial event, and gold was so often the color of wealth.
(Not on Naboo, though. Her homeworld held the color equal with things like loyalty, and promise, and devotion.)
Pooja blinked, and took a small sip of her drink. Non-alcoholic. Alderaan, it turned out, had different opinions about fifteen year olds drinking than Naboo did. It wasn’t that Pooja liked the taste, but she had fond memories of her grandparents letting her sneak sips of their wine at dinner, the warm taste of spiced mead before the ancestors’ altar. The time she’d stolen a gulp of her aunt’s drink, only to realize it was something much stronger than a six year old could handle, spitting it out like poison. The sound of her uncle’s laugh.
With thoughts like those, no wonder she was seeing familiar gold. Memories had a funny way of haunting the present like that.
And perhaps she would have brushed it off as nostalgia tainted with the taste of wine, in another world, another life. Had she, the story would have gone very differently.
But Pooja glanced again toward the gold, and nearly choked herself on her drink. She was surly haunted, she thought to herself, coughing up what she had accidentally inhaled. The woman she’d been chatting with put a concerned hand on her arm, asked something that Pooja couldn’t hear over the roaring of blood in her ears. She waved the woman off, gave her some assurance and begged her excuse as Pooja stepped away. Her eyes haven’t left the golden protocol droid across the room.
It can’t be, a part of her thought, denial fighting with hope as she stalked her way toward the droid. It can’t possibly be him. After all, protocol droids all look so similar. After all, he’d disappeared after her aunt’s death. After all, what are the odds?
Then she got close enough to hear the droid’s voice and oh, she could never forget that distinct voice that had told her and her sister bedtime stories, that had fretted at their hijinks, worried for their safety while he ran after them as quickly as fused joint legs would let him.
The melancholy longing hit Pooja like a blow to the chest.
“Threepio?” she called out, and the droid turned to her and it was like she was eight years in the past and just a little girl again, her world safe and her family unbroken.
“Oh! Hello!” he said and he was just like she remembered him. “How can I be of assistance, miss…?”
He didn’t recognize her. It was crushing, the realization he didn’t recognize her. That even this was taken from her.
Someone had wiped his memory. (she remembered, her uncle telling her and Ryuu how he’d never had Artoo’s memory wiped, no matter how many military secrets the little astromech held. He said wiping a droid was something like murder.)
“My apologies,” she told Threepio, and it felt like talking to a stranger. “I confused you with a droid who once belonged to my aunt. My mistake.”
He waved one of his stiff arms and it was so familiar it hurt. “No need to apologize, miss. It is an easy mistake to make, I’m sure. I’m sorry I’m not the droid you’re looking for.”
Oh, but you are. Pooja biteher lip.
“Well, if you don’t need my assistance, I must return to my charge,” he told her, shuffling away. Toward the young princess of Alderaan, and a little blue and white astromech.
For a moment, Pooja felt like she couldn't breathe.
It hit her, suddenly, that Leia Organa was soon to celebrate her eighth birthday. That Leia Organa was the adopted daughter of Senator Bail Organa.
That Bail Organa had been the last person to see her aunt alive. Her very pregnant aunt.Oh, she thought, the pieces falling into place with all the inevitability of gravity.
New thing I think I'm going to do where I'll post snippets from one of my WIPs on Wednesdays, for funzies.
This one's inspired by this fic, where the Naberries are aware of Padme and Anakin's marriage. As soon as I read it it got me thinking of an au where Pooja realized who Leia was, and what chaos might ensue.

Clone wars headcanons about everything and nothing
Ahsoka has a decent amount of allergies but only a handful are actually life-threatening and no matter how much she tells Anakin that it never stops him from treating them all the same
And by treating them all the same I mean he’s slapped some snacks out of her hands because he knew she was slightly allergic to it
In his defense the clones are really bad at keeping track of her allergies and because of that they have fed her a couple of things that were lethal to her and ever since then Anakin’s never really trusted them with food
Also in his defense Ahsoka once ate something she was highly allergic to on a dare (the poor clone didn’t know she was allergic) and all she did to remedy the situation was hand said poor clone her EpiPen before passing out
Unfortunately the clone didn’t know how to use the EpiPen so Ahsoka ended up passing out and Anakin and Rex had to rush her off to the med bay because they didn’t know how to use the EpiPen either
Because of this incident the clones weren’t allowed to give Ahsoka food and there were a couple of signs that said “blue to the sky orange to the thigh” around the ship
I feel like everyone in Clone Wars is simultaneously touch-starved and tactile which is a very fun mix especially when I think about Ahsoka and everyone else because I like to think whenever Ahsoka asks for a hug 9.5/10 she gets one
Master Plo is the most used to this cause Ahsoka’s been like this since she was a child and he’ll admit he’s spoiled her with hugs
If you were to ask her what his hugs feel like she would say they feel like childhood or that feeling you get when you smell something that you could only find in your home when you were a kid
Obi-Wan is an interesting can of worms because he’s as tactile and touch-starved as the rest of them but he’s also incredibly touch-adverse which results in him declining hugs 5/10 because he just can't fathom touching someone in that moment
But when he does give Ahsoka a hug she’ll say there’s nothing like it and she would often describe it as a breath of fresh air and very soothing on stressful days
Rex is most likely it give Ahsoka a hug bro is simply the hugger™ and she would describe his hugs as comforting if not a little awkward but grounding none the less kind of like hugging a weighted blanket just out of the drier
She doesn’t get to see Padme nearly as often as she would like which means she tries to get a hug whenever she can and Padme will never decline her hugs if anything she initiates most of them
Ahsoka doesn’t remember her mom or her hugs well but if she had to give an example of what a hug from her mom felt like she would say Padme’s
Anakin honestly isn’t comfortable with touching people he doesn’t know well but when he does feel comfortable with someone he’s clingy
Ahsoka will never admit this half cause it’s embarrassing and half because she fears it would hurt the other’s feelings but Anakin’s hugs are easily her favorite something about the all-encompassing hug makes her feel safe and secure like nothing else
But the funny thing is that sometimes he doesn’t really have the energy to hug Ahsoka so he’ll just put all of his dead weight on her which usually results in one of two reactions from her
one. Is usually her saying “Hug me like you love me” or something along those lines to which he will squeeze the everloving force out of her or two. “Hug me like a normal person” which usually gets the smartass response of “Who said I was a normal person”
So it’s pretty obvious that Anakin and Ahsoka have their bigger competitions but they’ve also got little ones like who can make the funnier face when Obi-Wan is trying to do his work which normally ends with the duo hunched over laughing and Obi-Wan finding another place to work
The: “Who can accurately make the noises Obi-Wan makes while stretching” challenge which just usually results in the clones worriedly checking in on them cause it sounds like they’re in pain
The: “Who can eat more ice cream” challenge always ends with Anakin regretting his life choices and Ahsoka doing the dishes because she feels bad
Long story short they’ve got a lot of challenges cause they’re competitive little weirdos but the funniest part is they rarely keep score of who the winner is so they’re in an endless cycle of useless competitions
Obi-Wan has slowly collected mugs for everyone he’s close with and they have a nice little home in his otherwise empty mug cupboard
Anakin and Padme have matching from Naboo because Obi-Wan took them shopping when they were pretty young
Padme can’t drink tea with them as often as she would like but when she can schedule a small tea break Anakin makes sure to smuggle all their mugs out of Obi-Wan’s kitchen
Ahsoka’s mug is possibly one of Obi-Wan's favorites it’s a good size and practical but’s also got nice intricate color-changing details because they both thought it looked cool
Cody and Obi-Wan’s mugs are pretty similar but their main difference is the childlike handwriting on the bottom of one that says “to: Obi from: Ani”
Rex doesn’t get a mug until later and it’s the most unconventional and inconvenient mug in all of creation the poor dude has to hold it from the sides because his hands don’t fit in the handle
And its design pisses Obi-Wan off every time he sees it the only thing that’s stopping him from smashing it into hundreds of little pieces is that Rex picked it so in the cupboard it stays
Sometimes the group forgets that Ahsoka isn’t human which leads to very funny circumstances
Like Rex losing a decent amount of credits trying to call Ahsoka’s “bluff” of being able to bench twice his weight
Or at the fact that Obi-Wan was once hiding from Ahsoka and Anakin because he didn’t want the duo to see the extent of his injuries from a solo mission
But he forgot that Ahsoka could smell and hear better than the average being so she was able to track him down pretty fast (she was also freaked out cause she could hear his erratic heartbeat and smell the blood so that wasn’t a pleasant experience for her)
Or the number of times when she’s eaten an unholy amount of food just for Anakin to wake up at 3 am to find her scavenging for more cause she’s still hungry
And let me tell you seeing some small hunched-over little creature with reflective eyes at that time of night would make even the chosen one screech like a banshee

Pong Krell. It’s universally agreed that he deserved worse than what he got and I get that. I just wished we got to see what he was like before he Fell. Did he always hate clones, was it gradual? Did he suspect something off and went over paranoid?
I’ll say this one and I’ll say this probably a thousand more times but I wished the creators focused on more details with characters. It’s absolutely fascinating that they created a Jedi that Fell but did nothing with it besides outright evil.
How other Jedi reacted to learning that a fellow Jedi betrayed everyone? How did the Republic?
I just wished they did more with him than just, yeah that dude was a dick and killed clones.
Yeah, it's one of the things I don't like as much about TCW, the extremely episodic nature of it means that there really is never any build-up to anything or lasting impact from anything. Unless it's happening within one of the 2-4 episode arcs, we RARELY get to see any kind of build-up or fallout. It's one of the major issues with Barriss, too, we see her ONCE in season 2 and she's calm, kind, methodical, and selfless. And then three seasons later in season 5 she's suddenly ruthless, selfish, doubting everything and everyone, merciless, etc. There is NO BUILD UP to that radical 180 to her character and there's no real exploration of how Ahsoka really feels about that particular betrayal afterwards, the focus in later episodes after the Wrong Jedi focuses only on Ahsoka feeling betrayed by the COUNCIL and her feelings about that. Nothing since TCW has ever touched it either (Rebels, Mandalorian, the Ahsoka show). Satine's death never really comes up again after it happens aside from Bo-Katan being an asshole. Obi-Wan goes from being totally fucked up about Maul coming back to being chill enough to take on Maul and Savage alone and winning without us getting to see him actually deal with those emotions.
Pong Krell and the Umbara arc IN GENERAL falls into this category easily (so do the Zyggeria and the Deception arc tbh). Krell is such a basic evil character, there's so little nuance to him and we never get to see the Jedi react to the revelation that one of their own turned at all. Dooku turned after he had already left the Order as far as any of them really know, but Krell was still IN the Order when he decided to betray them and it would've been really interesting to see the impact of that on them. It would've been ESPECIALLY interesting to explore that more during the Wrong Jedi arc in particular in how the Jedi feel like they can't trust their own people not to betray them anymore after Dooku and Krell.
Krell is presented with like. Zero nuance. He is just unequivocally evil and despite Anakin greeting him in a friendly way at the beginning, the visuals tell you this dude's no good right from his first appearance. There isn't really any chance that he's going to be a good guy at all. So all we are left with are headcanons.
And I remember discussing my Krell headcanons somewhere, but I think it might've been on a Discord server I've since left, so I unfortunately cannot find them again. So I'll try to remember them and immortalize them here, I guess.
Here's the thing about Krell. NO ONE suspects him. So he cannot be overtly acting like a bigoted asshole from the jump at any point, he HAS to be acting in such a way that it's not trickling out to the other clones and to the Jedi themselves that Krell is an absolute monster. Even Fives takes a moment to decide that Krell is suspicious and only brings up Krell's casualty numbers after he sees Krell's behavior for a minute and combines that knowledge with what he's now personally experiencing and is starting to come to conclusions based on that. He doesn't go into the relationship thinking Krell is worse than any other Jedi already.
And based on what we know of EVERY OTHER FALLEN JEDI (Dooku, Anakin, Barriss), they didn't start out as monsters. Dooku was a highly respected Jedi Master who seems to have had a really positive relationship with Yoda and Qui-Gon and simply became disillusioned with the Senate and his care for the people of the galaxy got twisted into something darker over time. Barriss was kind, selfless, compassionate, brave, and resourceful, and it was the war that caused her to start letting her fears and pain consume her into turning on the Jedi. Anakin was kind and spent years having his fears and doubts twisted into selfishness and greed and darkness that allowed him to justify murder and genocide for power. So it wouldn't make sense to me that Pong Krell wouldn't fall into the same pattern where he was once kind and good and selfless and brave, but that the circumstances surrounding the war caused him to lose faith and fall.
My headcanon is that he lost an entire battalion early in the war, much like we see happen to Plo Koon during the Malevolence arc and that that loss and failure just BROKE him. Krell DID care about the clones, he cared about his men, and he FAILED them all. And I think that he saw all of these clones dying by the dozens in all of the other battalions and instead of choosing to let go of his pain and fear and lean into his compassion, he chose to distance himself from them entirely to make it hurt less. If he didn't care about the clones, if he just saw them as the cannon fodder that the Senate treated them all as, then it would hurt less when they died. Maybe the Senate itself even dragged him over the coals for that initial loss. Or perhaps it was the opposite, maybe most of his battalion was killed, but it ultimately ended in a victory anyway because they were forced to just keep going despite the consequences. And so Krell decides to enter this mindset where he is disillusioned with the Senate and just CANNOT allow himself to care about the clones, because it won't change what the Senate is going to do to them anyway, so he may as well just treat them the same way.
And this wouldn't have happened overnight. It wouldn't have been a sudden 180 where he decided he was just going to treat them like shit. But he maybe decided to put some more professional distance between himself and his new battalion, not get close to them, not use their names (although he still knows them, still remembers them all). Maybe one day they're in a tricky situation and all of his options are bad, he HAS to sacrifice some of his men in order to salvage the situation at all, and it's a choice between a full retreat that he KNOWS the Senate won't take well, or sacrificing the men to achieve the victory. So he sacrifices the men. It's not an entire battalion, it's not even a whole company, but it's more than it would've been if he'd retreated. Maybe next time, there's a choice between going back to save some of the men even if it poses a risk to his own life or the mission or something, and he chooses not to go back for them because the mission is more important, or he rationalizes that his life is more important as the Jedi General. And it's just more and more little decisions like that that add up over time to being able to see the clones as nothing more than tools.
The disillusionment with the Senate leads to him sort-of agreeing with things Dooku and the Separatists have said and he can look at the war and realize that it's entirely possible that the Republic is going to LOSE, and he CANNOT be the one who loses again, so maybe he starts bouncing around the concept of maybe switching sides. And of course initially he rejects the idea. He's a Jedi, he won't just abandon the Republic, he can't be a traitor, who in the Separatist side would ever trust him anyway. But once that seed is planted, it doesn't go away and it keeps coming back up and he keeps finding ways to rationalize why it might be a good idea and then deciding not to do it over and over again. Until one day, he can't convince himself that it's a bad idea or that it wouldn't work. He tells himself it's the ONLY option, if he doesn't change sides then he's dead. But Dooku WON'T trust him unless he can prove that he's not on the Republic's side, so he has to come up with a plan to gain their trust. And what better way to earn that trust than to ensure a Separatist victory in an important campaign by double-crossing the Republic.
And once he's chosen to go down that path, it's even EASIER to stop caring about the clones because, well, they're all dead anyway. The Republic is going to lose, the clones are all dead men walking no matter what, so why bother caring about them or trying to keep them alive? He can't lose so often that the Jedi or the Senate become suspicious of him, of course, but it's REALLY easy then to get to Umbara and treat the clones like crap and turn them against each other and intentionally try to get them all killed. They're dead anyway, he's not the one killing them really, is he, the Senate is, the Jedi are, the war is. They were dead from the moment they were created in that test tube because they were created for this specific purpose. It's not his fault.
And much like Barriss turns against the Jedi in part because she did LOVE the Jedi and was devastated by what she saw happening to them and the pain of seeing her people forced to become something they were never supposed to be, as much as her actions were intended as some kind of message to try to sort-of save the Jedi from a course of action she saw as their downfall, I think that Krell turns on the clones because at some point he DID care about them. A lot. And that care became his downfall, the pain at what was being done to them just absolutely gutted him and it threw him down a path that ultimately led him to turn against the very people whose deaths had hurt him so badly just a few short years ago.
Krell might not have been the most effusive or emotional person prior to the war or anything, he might've been a more reserved person similar to Mace or Dooku or Luminara, but I think he probably was a perfectly good Jedi who was kind and selfless and compassionate once upon a time.
And none of the headcanons above have even touched what his relationships with other JEDI must have been like. It's just as possible that he did have friends and people he considered family among the Jedi. Maybe he had a padawan once at some point. And maybe all of those people had died by the time we get to Umbara. Maybe he had to watch a lot of the people he was closest to just fall like flies, and so it starts feeling like nothing matters. Maybe one of the Jedi who died on Geonosis was a former padawan of his, but Krell himself obviously wasn't there and the pain of THAT loss and the guilt he feels at not having been there (even though this padawan had been knighted for a while and there was a good reason Krell wasn't there that day) just sticks with him, too, and he never quite manages to let that go, either.
I think a lot of people choose to just headcanon Krell as having just always been kind-of an asshole even when he was a Jedi, but that doesn't work for me. If Krell was always an asshole, I feel like the Jedi would've stepped in at some point before the war even HAPPENED and tried to manage that situation. And it doesn't match up with the way pretty much every other fallen Jedi has ever been written, where they were GOOD PEOPLE once upon a time who saw awful things happen that they couldn't stop or had an awful thing happen TO them that they couldn't stop and the pain of that experience consumes them to the point that they spiral into darkness as a result. Krell should be the same way, which means he likely was a perfectly good normal Jedi before the war. He would've been kind, he might've been good with younglings (he's tall, maybe he was the one the younglings went to all the time for piggy back rides, maybe he often taught dual wielding to padawans who asked because of how clearly proficient he is at it), he might've taught a student of his own successfully, he would've been wise and selfless and compassionate, he would've loved the Jedi and the people of the galaxy.
Like, to be frank, if Tales of the Jedi HAD to explore a fallen Jedi story, they should've explored Krell instead of Dooku. Dooku has been explored before, we know quite a lot about him and his motivations and his backstory, but Krell, as you noted, is left a mystery and is stuck in the realm of being just purely evil for the sake of the story they were telling in this one arc. Krell needed more nuance in a way Dooku just did not.

Waves
anakin skywalker x reader (sort of)
ahsoka x reader (sort of)
summary: After a hard battle, It’s left to you to carry a message to two Jedi from your past
a/n: this is sort of a character study of the protagonist - you! it’s also kind of a prologue to a series that will be anakin x reader - more details to come! based off of Dean Lewis’ ‘Waves’.
note: please know that i actually don’t know almost anything about star
warnings: angst, briefs descriptions of canon-typical violence, technically minor character death, mourning, non-canon compliant
There will come a time in your life when you will need to let go, when the galaxy stops shifting and the ground under your feet liquifies, it’s your duty to continue to protect. Continue to serve.
This is what the code tells us.
This is what your Master would always tell you.  He always was referring to the loss of civilians, the failure of a mission that could have succeeded. You never thought it would apply to losing him.
You arrived at the temple older than most younglings — five years old, feisty and strong, very strong in the ways of the Jedi already.  Back home on Onapesca, The Force was used peacefully, the ways taught to their young. You, however had been unfittingly volatile with your abilities, and so, the Jedi found you.
With already advanced training, it only took you four years to become eligible to have a master, and were taken on quickly by Master Bosque, a human such as yourself, one of the only Sentinels left in the order.
From the age of nine on, you and Bosque had been attached at the waist.
Even after becoming a knight, you went on missions and outreaches frequently with him, even becoming a Sentinel such as him, although your affinity had always been split between healing, The Force itself and your notable technique for sabers, as demonstrated by the three beads that used to hang on your braid.
His death came to you like an abrupt ending you always knew would come but never thought it would.
“Master?”
The young Togruta Padawan interrupts you melancholy reflection, using the title that’s almost yours.
“My apologies, young one,” you say properly. “I got caught up in my thoughts.”
Ahsoka is her name, and she’s as bright eyed and bushy tailed as you can be, going into an active war zone as a fourteen-year-old. Her braid is strung with a yellow bead — proficiency with that saber she wields. You can feel her desperation to prove herself wafting through the air, and, if you focus hard enough, it comes in waves, ripples in the air. Her energy reminds you of someone you haven’t spoken to in so long…
“You’re okay, Master L/n. I’m just wondering if you know my new master.”
Her new master?
“Obi-Wan and I are close, yes.”
“Not Master Kenobi, Master Skywalker!”
Your breath leaves you and doesn’t do you the favor of coming back. Anakin with a Padawan? That would not end well, especially with what you’ve heard about his… unique combat tactics. Of course, you haven’t seen him since right after your Knighting ceremony.
But he’s been plaguing your thoughts since after the Siege of Cassiopeia, the prospect of his return to your life, along with Obi-Wan’s a mixture of bittersweet emotions, of feelings that you don’t know if they will stay covered.
“Anakin? I didn’t know he was taking a Padawan.”
Ahsoka shrugs, sharp incisors gleaming.
“He’s getting one whether he likes it or not.”
Whether he likes it or not, is for sure.
“Yes, I know him. We grew up together, trained together since both of us were young Padawans with young Masters.” you pause, trying to formulate an unbiased explanation of Anakin, whose very presence always seems to affect you in the worst ways. “He’s… hard to capture in words, I would say. But… He’s awfully skilled in mechanics and piloting, with his blade, of course, as well. Hard headed, stubborn, irritating, but he’s also funny, and caring and… the most loyal person you will ever meet. Protective, too.”
“He sounds great.”
You refrain from agreeing with her. He is great. He’s just a difficult topic for you to broach right now. Ahsoka keeps darting her eyes at you, then back to her holopad.
“Was there something else, Ahsoka?”
“I’m really sorry about Master Bosque, Master L/n.”
Even just his name knocks it out of you. Everything seems to leave you breathless and gasping for the past you can never return to. You feel your vocal chords tighten.
No attachment.
“Thank you.”
There’s not much to say about it, at least not to her. You ache to tell someone how you feel, but it seems that a Padawan whom you just met may not be the best choice.
You grip your lightsabers and close your eyes, searching for a semblance of your Master, a sign, any sign that he’s watching over this journey, that he’s helping to better the tasks ahead.
(he’s missing from The Force, just like he is from your life, unjustly gone from the world that still needs him)
(you still need him)
In the village where you grew, you were taught to respect the Living Force. Your mother, your family, and the population who helped to raise you, the daughter of an important someone or other, had always taught you that the spirits of the lost would always be with you, and that you had a unique gift: you could not only sense the spirits, you could call them, channel them. Later, within your training as a Jedi, you learned that the spirits you once knew were actually The Force, and that the sense you’d had for them was an understanding most grown Jedi strived to reach.
You feel no such spirits upon entry to Christophsis.
It’s almost a vacuum of the Living Force, such a characteristic is becoming increasingly common in the war.
The Force beacons to the two Jedi on the planet, where your destination must be. You close your eyes, reaching out to Anakin, looking for the link you used to have, looking for his distinct signal. Like his unique radio frequency, he sends ripples through The Force, the layer under reality that you have the ability to sense. Not quite through The Force, halfway between the realms.
He’s there, alright.
The link that you have suppressed for so many cycles pulses in the back of your mind like an old memory, which you suppose it is.
You must prepare yourself for the confrontation that awaits.
The front is impossible to break, not without reinforcements, not with the limited resources that are steadily depleting.
Anakin believes that with a little assistance from the Council, they can power through and break the line, though, as sore as it is to admit it, continuing his tactics might have the very very very slight possibility of failing.
Maybe.
Rex can’t know that he has his doubts, though, because Anakin knows that Rex is counting on him. And Obi-Wan.
Definitely Obi-Wan.
The end of the latest battle heralds another sore reminders of the lack of supplies and dashed team spirit, even for a victory.
Something’s off. It’s a feeling that started at the end of the aforementioned battle, a stirring in the back of his mind, a feeling that feels familiar, something he hasn’t felt in a long time.
“Sent reinforcements, we have,” Yoda tells him and Obi-Wan. “Bothering you, is something, Skywalker?”
Anakin clears his throat.
“No, Master Yoda. Everything-“
The hologram cuts out before he even finishes his excuse for distraction. Obi-Wan and Rex are both staring at him. What do they want? What do they have to say?
“Anakin,” Obi-Wan starts. Anakin squeezes his eyes shut. The feeling surges. What is this? Why does he feel it now, after years of trying to reach out, why is this coming back to haunt him now?
“She’s coming, isn’t she?” He demands, somewhat belligerently, feeling like a petulant child, whining to his master. “You feel it, right? Did you know?”
“Anakin, I’m as surprised as you are. As far as I knew, she was still on Cassiopeia carrying out covert operations.” Obi-Wan shakes his head, leaning on the podium. Anakin turns to Rex, hoping he’d heard from his best friend, Y/n’s clone commander.
“Don’t look at me, General, I haven’t heard from Jex since the radios went dead. He told me they were headed back to Coruscant.”
Anakin rubs his eyes, feeling the storm brewing.
This girl.
It’s almost comical, the expression on both Skywalker and Kenobi’s faces, their confusion when they meet the whirlwind that is Ahsoka Tano. It’s fine, they’ll adjust, she’s a perfect little version of Anakin, (She kind of reminds you of yourself, if you’re being honest) and even if he doesn’t see it, she’s the best Padawan he could have gotten.
You step away from the conversation, getting a report from one of the Clones in blue - Hach. The situation doesn’t sound good.
you’ll see what Rex has to say about battle strategy, but you have a pretty good idea of what the next step is.
“Why don’t you take Ahsoka to go observe. Get her familiarized with the ground.”
“Who, the youngling?”
“Padawan!”
And so, the three Jedi are left alone, and you finally get a chance to look at them, see how they’ve changed. Obi-Wan, bless his soul, is virtually unchanged, the only difference is his armor. Anakin, however…
You haven’t seen him since recently after the both of you were Knighted, since the night of the huge argument. His hair is longer, his face rougher, a short scar marked over his right eye. His mechanical hand, one of his many impressive feats of engineering, is scratched up and dulled after many battles. His blue eyes search you, probably trying to gauge the same thing that you are— if you’re still angry.
You’re not, if anyone was wondering. Your anger has strictly faded into a cold feeling of indifference— or that might be the layers of suppression that result from years and years of denying what actually happened that night.
“Y/n, my dear, It’s been quite a while,” Obi-Wan says, warm smile flitting onto his face.
“It has, Master Kenobi. Strange how the time goes.”
Anakin nods at you. Obi wan elbows him. “Ow!” He rubs the back of his neck. “You cut your hair.”
You smack your lips awkwardly.
“Well,” Obi wan breaks the uncomfortable silence, already stepping away. “I must go speak with the troops. Anakin, why don’t you update Y/n on the status of the battle.”
You thank The Force for granting you this momentary reprieve from the heartbreaking news you carry, but it comes with the price of painstakingly awkward conversation with Skywalker.
He’s brash and direct, just like you remember him, updating you on the latest supply shortage, the power outages, the horrors of this war, appearing around every corner.
“I didn’t know you were off of Cassiopeia. I thought the Siege was still in effect,” He admits. You shake your head, remembering what you need to tell him.
“We went radio silent during the last stages of the Siege, which reminds me,” you snap your comm out of its slot on your gauntlet. “Can you tune me to your frequency?”
He tilts his head, grinning slyly.
“Four years and you still haven’t learned how to program a comm?”
“Jex is a mechanic, Skywalker,” You drop the comm into his black- gloves hand. “And for your information, I know how to do it, I just …prefer not to.”
“Oh, I’m sure, and I wasted all that time on Naboo teaching you how to program them, just for you to mooch off poor Jex.”
“No one’s mooching anything! Jex is happy to help me!”
“Oh, I’m sure.”
“What that supposed to-“
You’re cut off by the beeping from both of your comms, meaning Rex’s found something, probably something that’s just going to heighten the risks of the upcoming battle.
Is there a tactical advantage to sending Ahsoka, the smallest of you all, to sneak past the force field? Sure, yes. Does it pleasure you to torment Anakin with his new spitfire padawan? Of fucking course.
So the two bickering Jedi set off to set charges  on the barrier, leaving you with Kenobi and Rex.
“What’s the plan, Generals?” The clone asks. You glance at Obi-Wan.
“Whaddya say, old man? the old fashioned surrender?”
He sighs.
“Y/n, I resent it when you call me that, but… yes. The old fashioned surrender should give them enough time.”
You grin.
“Sounds like a plan.”
The downside of a plan going, well, according to plan, is that you have no more time to speak to anakin and Master Kenobi about what will happen upon return to shore leave on Coruscant.
It’s late, Ahsoka has retired to her quarters on the Resolute, leaving only the three senior Jedi in the common area, reflecting and writing reports of the events on Christophsis. You take in a deep breath, steeling yourself.
“Master Kenobi, Skywalker,” You address them formally, trying to stay detached. “I’m afraid I haven’t been completely… honest about the events of the final battle for Cassiopeia.”
Both Jedi fixate on you, concern evident on their battle-worn faces.
“I didn’t want to distract you before going into combat, and perhaps I was sparing myself the grief of reliving it… but… on Cassiopeia, I was captured.” Better to start off with the beginning of the story. “It was part of the plan, but the tactics of the Separatists were even more convoluted than what any of us could have imagined, so, Master Bosque saw the plan’s acceleration.” You take a deep breath. “It was… sloppy, it was tragic. We lost everyone on the mission, except myself… and Jex.” You pause, to recuperate yourself, to keep your voice from cracking, but it grows think in your throat. “Bosque was killed. I’m sorry. I know how much he meant to both of you.”
You breathe shakily. Kenobi seems frozen, paralyzed by grief. His oldest friend, gone at the hands of this war. Skywalker’s blue eyes have hardened, his mouth turned down. Bosque helped Kenobi train him, as well. He was to Anakin what Kenobi is to you.
“Upon our return to Coruscant for shore leave, there will be a ceremony, commemorating Bosque, followed by my induction to the Order of Mastery.”
Anakin recoils at this. You know how much he wishes to become a Master.
Deafening silence, the millings about of Clones.
“I should- I want you, Master Kenobi, to conduct the ceremony as my honorary Post- Master. And- and I knew you would want to see him. One last time.”
You hold your breath, partly in suspense, mostly to keep from breaking out in sobs. You have not wept for him. You will not.
You will not.
But these two— if anyone could make you cry for the Master you wish was still here, they could.
So you leave.
You leave them to their grief.
A coward’s move, yes.
But you are a coward.
And you go to your quarters and try to sleep, trying desperately to not feel, not because it’s what the order requires, but because it just hurts too much to feel anymore.

6, 12, 14, and 21 for the Star Wars Violence Ask Game!
Thank you wifey! 💙💚 I'm gonna enjoy these
6. Opinion on canon and/or fanon use of the secret child trope? Discuss
I don't mind it. The secret child can be a good trope if the context is right for it. I mean Star Wars is centered on secret child trope pretty much. Where I'm not so into it is the Korkie headcanon that he is Obi Wan and Satine's son. It's a bit too crackhead for me and also it's not my ship so I'm biased against it.
12. Name a common fandom complaint that you're sick of hearing.
Anything about Rey tbh. I may not be a big sequels person but anytime the fandom tries reduce her to an overpowered female Luke and say she's unoriginal I roll my eyes.
Like they are nothing alike. Luke got to live comfortably taken care of by his aunt and uncle. He never had to scavage scraps just to be able to eat. And before anyone comes for me, I'm NOT ripping on Luke. He had what anyone should have.
What I'm saying is Rey didn't get to have guardians or a comfortable house or regularly even be able eat. She was abandoned and did what she had to to survive. As for the overpowered thing like she's able to fly ships or fight back, like come on. I repeat, she. was. a. scavanger. She got to know ship parts and as for fighting, she's had to fight dickheads like Teedo and probably worse to keep food, homes, etc. After rewatching TFA, i notice she learns from OBSERVATION. She mimics what others do around. This is a survival skill she had her whole life.
Of course Luke is going to take a little more time to learn things. He was never put in that situation where it was do or die (as any child shouldn't). Rey was and however fast she was at learning a skill is a result of basic survival instincts.
She and Luke ENTIRELY different characters and to say she's a female version of him cuz she's from a desert????? Reductive and a big lack in media literacy tbh.
14. What's the most egregious example of fridging in canon?
God which one? 😅 Fridging is probably one of Star Wars biggest crimes. Leia is the first that comes to mind because she died to redeem her piece of shit son that she did not deserve.
But then again, Anakin's turn to the dark side is also due to fridging with his mother and his wife. Especially with Padme since there's an old version where she actually gets to live a little bit longer with the Rebellion and tried to kill Anakin.
I may not be a big Satine person, but that's fridging too to give Obi Wan angst and more Maul animosity.
I'm still going to say Leia in the sequels though as the most egregious. Because it was so out of nowhere (yes I'm aware that Carrie's death was probably the reason but I don't care. There are better ways to kill off/write out a character than fridging). Her death served no purpose other than Kyle Ron no accountability. Like what in "Jesus died for our sins" is this bullshit? Why must Star Wars' most iconic woman have to go out for a man that did nothing but hurt and betray her? It's insulting tbh.
Edit: Luminara's death was fucking awful too. Like ain't no reason to have it be so horrific. Sigh... can Star Wars like not hate women for once.
21. Best canon example of a healthy relationship in Star Wars
Romantically that is a tough one. Honestly I'm coming up short with this one. Can't say Han and Leia cuz we only see their rocky start and end and nothing in between.
Maybe Kanan and Hera but their relationship kinda got ruined for me when suddenly at the end, he wasnt aware if Hera felt the same about him??? I just thought they were basically married and I'm supposed to be believe they haven't even had that conversation by THAT point in time??? Plus the ghost baby thing creeped me the fuck out. Can Star Wars please stop with the out of nowhere pregnancies please?
So yeah canon romances, nothing comes to mind. In fact Star Wars is kind of built on toxic romance.
The crackhead in me wants to say Owen and Beru 🤣
Ooo! Wait I found my answer! Cal and Merrin from the Jedi games! They are perfect 🥺 Idk what the next game will have in store for them but so far, the way they empower and comfort each other. They accept and love each other's differences. And just adorable all around. Sweet ginger boy with spicy witch lady 👌

Superhero AU - The Jedi
Back to the superhero AU because I left it on such a hopelessly sad cliffhanger. This time, we get to see what the Jedi have been up to this whole time, and what their general plan of attack is.
Previous Posts: [X] [X] [X] —
It doesn't take long for the Jedi to realize something big is going on. They're not entirely sure what it is exactly (as much as people like to say so they are not, in fact, mind readers), but they do know it involves some rather strange disturbances as well as a very bizarre missing person's case that involves hundreds of individuals from all walks of life.
Usually they wouldn't immediately jump to the conclusion that both of these things are connected (their city is certainly a box of chocolates in terms of odd coincidences) but, seeing as this was brought to Obi-wan's attention from a fairly reliable source, it's safe to say they do start off an investigation with fair certainty that whatever caused the odd fluctuations of power in the city (the orbs had a very distinct force signature behind them) has to do with both the missing people's case, and the major incident that got swept under the rug before they could get to the scene of chaos (Palpatine's men were FAST).
The Jedi who are most involved with the investigation are Obi-wan who has all kinds of connections that give him an advantage (one of them being ex-mobster Dexter Jettster, who's sister-in-law is in hospital and her twin sons both vanished, so he has stakes in this as well), Jedi Shadow and Spymaster-in-Training Quinlan Vos (who's using the criminal underworld to try to figure out who are the shady people that the eyewitnesses saw taking their loved ones away), Mace Windu who is keeping tabs on the military's abnormal activities (he's noticed a pattern of sudden announcements, gatherings, recruitment campaigns and what not, and he's trying to figure out if it has anything to do with current goings on) and Jocasta Nu (who is coordinating the whole investigation since she has access to a lot of information and resources).
Everyone else is either keeping up with their usual daily lives (to not draw too much attention to the fact the Jedi are finding all of this extremely suspicious), or occasionally scouting the city for any signs of trouble (Anakin and Ahsoka like to nose around despite needing to focus on their studies). Either way, if something odd happens, the Jedi will know...
And something odd DOES happen.
A very extensive "family" of identical young men have recently moved into the city, enrolled in high school, uni, gotten jobs, are doing volunteer work, etc... And all of them seem incredibly friendly towards the Jedi. Unusually so. It raises a lot of red flags. Especially when there's also a sudden boost in crime and a group of new "heroes" is going about fighting said crime.
Obi-wan is convinced they've found their missing people. The question is, what is going on with them?
The Jedi can sense how forced the friendliness is. How they very clearly want to be anywhere but where they currently are. But at the same time they can sense the fear behind their actions, as well as the feeling of defeat and resignation practically rolling off of them in waves. Whatever it is that's gotten them in such a bind is clearly not something they can easily fix...
For now all they can do is play along and try to figure out a way to help these people. Before whatever it is that's slowly building up becomes an actual problem. Maybe if they make themselves available to them, show they want to help, these people might open up to them and share their plight?
Only one way to find out!

ObiWan Show(late review)
I agree with many of the critics that said the quality of the show wasn´t the best but I believe they made it a bigger issue than it really is, yes part of it was the lighting because some scenes are just too dark to tell for sure what the characters are doing but it isn´t the worst I have seen.
I personally don´t think it was a bad show it had some good scenes, I liked seeing Obi-Wan´s emotional crisis and seeing Anakin´s ghost or the clone soldiers, those were very heartfelt scenes, I especially liked Leia and the Organa family, especially the suggestion that Leia´s adoption wasn´t something naturally accepted by the Organa family which makes sense given they are an hereditary royal family who are in charge of whole planet, I would have liked to see Leia deal with more of this kind of tension.
I didn´t like Reva as a character in the sense that I didn´t like her personally but she and her story made a lot of sense, I liked the suggestion that Vader knew all along about her and trained her with the other inquisitors just waiting for her to do her move on him. It makes sense for both of them given Vader does understand personal vendettas agaisn´t him especially her being a survivor youngling of the temple, that will not stop Vader because at this point he believes his work in the galaxy and the Empire are neccesary but he understands her motives and yet if she was able to survive their duel to go to Tatooine to try to kill Luke, this means Vader let her live, not sure if this was the writers intention or a problem of continuity.
Which leads me to the issues I had with the story are mainly because they break continuity or don´t make sense for the characters:
Why would Vader leave Obi-Wan alive after he got him in the fire, the only answer I can get is that Obi-Wan needs to survive to be on ANH but I am a sentimental Anakin fan so my take is that he let him go out of sentiment.
Why would Vader attack a whole village just looking for Obi-Wan?, yes I know fandom has this yandere image of Vader because of Anakin but this isn´t some random fanfic or fanart or fan animation this is a proffesional show and this move doesn´t make sense for Vader.
Vader isn´t an overly emotional character, given the many years he spend connected to machines this has given him a different psycology in which he sees things and events very matter of fact even when he is furious, when he kills he is overly clinical and cold about it and usually has a purpose be it his perception of a failure(ESB) in his men, rebels getting in the way in fragant attack on the Empire(Rogue One/ANH) and even in those cases he took prisoners(ANH), protection of the Emperor(ROTJ) or self defense(ESB,ROTJ,SWR). Vader killing villagers out of nowhere and just he can do it acomplishes nothing, it made him look like a monster acting in a choreographed show made to scare away tourists instead of a believable character and moment in the story.
Why would Bail Organa leave essential information about Leia and Luke for anyone to find out about when he is supposed to be a founder of the rebel alliance and knows how to be a spy in the Senate since he teached Leia how to do exactly that?. I see how this helped advance the plot for Reva´s character arc but it didn´t made sense for Bail´s character.
Why would Obi-Wan leave Vader alive if he had the oppotunity to kill him only to leave that duty to Luke, Anakin´s own Son, it isn´t a good look for Obi-Wan to leave the matter of killing Vader to his Son for some nebulous reason, this actually makes him look cruel and it breaks continuity because if he was able to do that then there is not reason for him and Yoda to keep being in hidding for another 10 years if they can team up to kill both Vader and the Emperor. This is why in the original story they no longer were able to defeat them and that´s why they needed Luke and Leia´s help.
So in short I liked the show, some scenes like Vader´s and ObiWan final duel were hearfelt and very well done but I didn´t like the fact they bassically did copy and paste of Vader´s confrontation with Ahsoka, except for the part of "I am not your failure Obi-Wan" but as a whole I believe it could have been written better to make the story work in continuity with the prequels and the original trilogy.
I would be in favor of a new edition of the show in which they correct those mistakes, yes I am also waiting for frogs to rain but well, those are my two cents about this show :D

Glad you’re finally updating your ASOI series!! haven’t heard about it in a while
Speaking of… I had a thought the other day about the public’s view on the clones (and I had no one to share it with so I’ll just dump it in your ask box if you don’t mind)
Anyway, civilians in most of the clone centric fics I read are very hostile towards clones for some reason and I find it very implausible.
Just think of it, there are genetically modified soldiers who are badass, wear cool armor and are also extremely hot.
And now imagine if that happened in real life… I really think people would love them and also sympathize with them due to them technically being slaves. And Ahsoka’s interviews would only add fuel to the fire because now they have NAMES and can hear stories of their beloved heroes.
But what’s more important, everyone would be thirsting over them.
And what happens in real life when people unanimously thirst over someone? They make edits. They make edits and write fanfiction and create whole ass blogs dedicated to the object of their thirst.
I bet the boys constantly record holos of them being badasses on the frontlines and a lot of recordings would mysteriously end up leaked, so the editors would have more than enough material
I can imagine Ahsoka sending Rex some holo and it’s an edit of him to the most unholy track you’ve ever heard which has like a billion likes and WILDING comments (something among the lines of “he walks like it’s heavy” with the replies “I can hold it for him”). He honestly doesn’t know how to react to that, like he is mortified (and a bit flattered really).
And some parts of it might actually be cannon given how many girls hang out at 79’s, they definitely know where the good stuff is ;)
And then the fangirls become a big group of clone-sympathizers who go on strikes for for clones’ rights and it somehow leads to the discovery of the chips and somehow palpatine dies and order you-know-what never happens and the war ends and clones get refund for years of service and everyone lives happily ever after. Thank you for coming to my ted talk.
No but this 1000% percent. You nailed it in one. Theres already a lot of bad feelings toward the jedi that Palpatine has been sowing the seeds for a long time. So I'd be hesitant to say that the citizens are immidietly chill with the clones. That's just not how the propaganda machine works. Especially since pretty much the only reactions the citizens have to the clones in cannon are negative. HOWEVER, firstly the anti-clone protests are primarily on Coruscant where the clones are not doing anything positive, they're acting as an unwelcome military police (which is literally always bad) or they're being drunk and disorderly in public (which is objectively funny).
But as for the rest of the galaxy? especially the planets where the clones are actively doing some good? GIRL. The republic is trying to portray the clones as a professional unified military force, but Ahsoka totally undermines all of that by bringing clone business to public attention. And as internet culture always does the citizens have a fucking field day with every scrap of information she gives up.
Like babes you have no idea how much of this AU is fueled by me joke watching clone thirst traps and thinking "I bet this would actually happen in SW" It starts with the public hounding her for details about Anakin cuz he's like a heart throb and she's all like "can we talk about anything other than how bad you all want to fuck him?" and she insists on talking about the clones instead, so all these thirsty ass hos who've hopped on the stream to hear some juicy Anakin content get introduced to a ROSTER of clones instead and some are like "y'know they are kinda cute" and then theres simps and people asking all kinds of questions about them and Ahsoka's doing shitty personality breakdowns.
I just don't know how to write that content in a way that's like Interesting. like just get on tiktok yourself i guess.
But like also Ahsoka reading the guys to filth too. Like she starts hyping them up then realizes that she's just fueling the simps so she just starts being painfully honest with the fangirls about their favorite clones.
like "wolffe girlies, I hate to tell you this, He does not give a fuck about you. He is not the grumpy to your sunshine. the man is a surely old bastard. He's like 6 I think? doesn't matter he was born a pissed off old man. He doesn't like you. He'll never like you. He likes exactly five people in the entire galaxy and I'm not even on that list anymore. And you don't even want to know what I had to do to get on it. Please realize that you are not special and he's not secretly soft and protective on the inside. He will hurt you're feelings."
And when I say that she is ALWAYS ragging on Fives. Every time she compliments him she has to pause and say "This is just gonna go to his head." And she takes every chance possible to humble him. "He might be one of my favorite brothers and one of the best men I've ever known but he's a fucking disaster. If it wasn't for my entire force ability and the best luck streak I've ever seen he'd be dead." She knows he thinks he's a hot shot ladie's man and she will NOT support his ego.
With Rex though? GIRL! Ahsoka shows such obvious favoritism for Rex. She shares the most information about him and his fandom absolutely pops off. He is that clone. footage of him and his easy-to-identify blonde hair absolutely flood the fan sites. THE EDITS??? THE COMMENT SECTIONS????? But Ahsoka's like nah that's MY Captain. (I don't ship them at all but I do think of Ahsoka as a very possessive person and Rex is literally her platonic soul mate) Like she's split between saying "Of course Rex has the biggest fanbase he's the single best man in the galaxy. literally, the only man who hasn't disappointed me. he's perfect of course they like him." but then also, "None of you are good enough for him. You should be honored if he shows interest in you on account of him being perfection incarnate"
The clone fandom in my Au mimics the actual one quite a lot including the small personality traits of the clones being way over exaggerated and then universally accepted. Like Kix gaining popularity bc Ahsoka still responds to all questions about her health and wellbeing with quips like "Of course I took my meds, wouldn't want an angry medic on me" and "Yes i disinfected the wound. If I didn't Kix might have a stroke" or one time she shook a vitimin bottle and said "See Kix, I'm responsible, I'm taking them."
I could seriously go on forever like this, I've practically written an essay already. But yeah. You get it.

10 fandoms/10 characters
Many thanks to @tomatette, @jaynesilver, and @fallingdeeperintothispit for tagging me 😁.
Star Wars (Sequels): Armitage Hux. I really do love Kylo too—Ren is such an interesting, dramatic character, and he's absolutely perfect for Hux, seriously. But Hux with his emotional unavailability, hard, overly-composed exterior, his passion/drive to the point of his own detriment, traumatic past...he's everything I could want in a character, because I am also all of these hard-to-love things (though thankfully minus the space fascism).
Star Wars (Prequels): Anakin Skywalker. Look, I know he's a bit whiny sometimes but damn if I don't love a murderous pretty boy on a fool's errand for the person he loves. Mystical space powers and dramatic sweeping outfits are just an added bonus.
Beauty and the Beast: the Beast. For the handful of people following my BatB Kylux fic, this is TOTALLY shocking, I know (and also you guys are amazing ❤️). I do love Belle—she's a book-loving introvert, so that's a given. But the Beast (notice I didn't say Prince Adam)...yeah, I did NOT know how to deal with my attraction to him when I was younger. Mercurial, cursed, awkwardly endearing, dark-haired, passionate, and desirously fluffy?! Wears dramatic capes, has an enchanted rose determining his future, and has the library of my dreams that he is willing to share?? What the fuck more could I want?!
LOTR trilogy: Aragorn. Do I really need to explain that to anyone?? (Also: sorry, Legolas...you were a VERY close second).
Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Jemma Simmons. Brilliant, adorable style, much more resilient than she looks. Her quote that goes "Past events...have shown me that I’m not good at improvisation. However, I excel at preparation" is not that great out of context here, unfortunately, but regardless, it was so validating to me. Me too, Jemma!!
Once Upon a Time: Killian Jones (Captain Hook). My husband loves this show, so we have watched it so many times. Hook is a seductive, charming bad boy who eventually really does try his best. And his pirate get-up? UGH, have mercy. (Also, wow, apparently I really, really have a thing for pretty, dark-haired, dangerous men who wear mostly black INCLUDING at least one garment that falls to at least knee length. Huh. That's...rather specific.)
Harry Potter: Hermione Granger. I related hard to a bookish girl who had a hard time making friends when I read these in grade school.
Howl's Moving Castle: Howl. I did not know how to process the extent to which I was attracted to him either, especially because he's not even human some of the time (which I liked, a lot). It was a revelation to find the world of online fanfic where I was very much not alone in those kind of thoughts!
Mean Girls: Janis Ian. Yeah, I know Janis does some shitty things in this movie, but she is unapologetic about who she is. I totally admired her boldness in high school, especially since I too dealt with the horror of rumors being spread about my sexuality (except the ones about me were true ahaha). And I always leaned much more Victorian goth than punk, but I nonetheless appreciated her style as well.
t.A.T.u.: Lena. I would be remiss to leave off this duo, even if they were a musical group, which is not one of my usual fandom sources. BUT they were the first pairing I actually read fanfic about online, way back when, and wrote a ton for them too (unpublished). For a 12-year-old who was struggling massively with...well, everything, but especially feeling incredibly alone and terrified of my sexuality, their music video/song "All the Things She Said" blew my mind. Unfortunately I never got my own chance to make out/run away with a pretty redhead in the rain, but still.
Tagging: I think I've seen this done by most people I follow already? But if you haven't done this and are reading it, please consider yourself tagged and do so, if you wish! I love these get-to-know-you things and would genuinely love to hear about you :).

Wish Come True.
Chapter 5: Clones, Clones, and more Clones.
Tumblr media
(Tw: Talks of injuries, but its light. Talks of rough home life, brief mention of claustrophobia. Think that's it, let me know if I missed anything!)
'This is actually insane.' I thought, my eyes wide in amazement.
I was walking down the halls of The Jedi Temple, with Obi-Wan leading the way. We're heading to the Council Chambers from what I gathered.
The Jedi Halls were magnificent, greater than I ever imagined or any show and movie depicted.
I was too lost in the grandness of things to watch where I was walking and ran straight into something. Or someone...
"Woah, watch it, kid." A new voice said, but not in a harsh tone.
"Oops, sorry, Sir. I got distracted." I responded, looking up, then I realized Obi-Wan wasn't around. "Uhhh, do you know where-"
"Fae! There you are." The said Jedi appeared from around the corner, along with the Commander whom never seemed to leave his side. "Apologizes for not noticing you weren't following."
"Its alright, I wasn't paying attention to where I was going." I shrugged, smiling sheepishly.
Obi-Wan let a small smile show, then turned to look at the person I ran into. "Ah, Anakin. I didn't know you were back from your mission."
"It ended earlier then expected, there were less droid forces then we had been told." The person responded, sounding bored.
'Anakin?'
"Wait, Anakin Skywalker?" I questioned.
They both turned towards me.
"Uh, yeah, kid. That's me." The man I ran into nodded at me, eye brow raised.
"I-" I narrowed my eyes, feeling something. A strange feeling. My mind kept repeating the words 'Chosen One' in my mind like flashing light, making me almost dizzy.
"Fae, are you alright?" Kenobi questioned, scanning me.
I blinked. "Yeah, yeah, just–... what does 'The Chosen One' mean?"
Anakin and Obi-Wan exchanged a look of confusion, before Anakin turned towards me.
"Who are you exactly?"
"Oh, my names Fae, Fae Miller. I'm... not from here." I spoke slowly on the last part., eyes drifting to look at the side.
"She's... different, in a way." Obi-Wan cut in.
"What kind of way?" Anakin seemed almost annoyed.
"We don't know yet, I am on my way to meet with the Council now." The older jedi explained to him.
"I might have to join in on that meeting." Anakin chimed, crossing his arms, glaring at me slightly.
I gulped. For some reason I feel like I should be afraid of him, like he was bad. In all honesty, I could... feel his judgment. His darkness.
"I'm afraid that can't happen, Anakin. This is strictly Council only." Obi-Wan protested.
Anakin huffed, rolling his eyes, "Fine, but I'll find out eventually."
"Right, well, we have to get to the meeting. I shall talk to you later. Fae, go with Cody, I will see you another time." Obi-Wan said then walked away.
"Right, uh, it was nice to meet you, bye!" I waved a little, turned and started slightly jogging to catch up to Cody, who was standing by a door and waiting, not wanting to loose him again.
*****************
The room was overly packed with clones and conversations, both overlapping each other.
Staying close to Cody as we weaved through the mass was harder than expected, especially as we got closer to the food line.
'Ugh, why are there so many people?' I thought as I ran into atleast the third person since we got into the room, earning a glare from him.
I just glared back and rolled my eyes, even though, in the back of my mind, I knew I shouldn't be starting a fight.
Finally pushing myself to the food line and letting out an exasperated sigh, I looked up to Cody, "Is it always this packed?"
He nodded. "Most of the time, yeah. We'll head over to the barracks and eat in my room."
I nodded and looked at the food. I had never seen whatever it was, so I just grabbed whatever Cody did and called it good. Although none of it really looked like food...
I'd never been picky. Most of the time there wasn't food at home, so anytime I got some, I didn't complain, and that included now.
Taking our trays, we walked out of the room, people parting the way for us now that we had stuff in our hands.
I visible relaxed when we were in the hall, feeling less claustrophobic, and more at ease. I could see an oncoming attack now, if one were to come, which immediately made me feel better.
Cody and I didn't talk on our way there, but the air between us wasn't an awkward one.
I followed him to a room, passing more clones with orange and white armor.
"Are they from the 212th, too?" I asked once he walked inside.
"Yeah, this section of the building is our barracks." Cody explained, walking to a small table on the side and setting down his tray. "Since I'm Commander, I get my own room, but my men share a room with about twenty of our brothers."
I nodded slowly, "Thats...a lot of people. Are there ever fights between them?"
Cody chuckled. "Quite frequently for some. But they manage to get over it. We've always had brothers with us, so we're used to it by now. Or should be. Have you ever shared a room, or...do you have any siblings?"
I sat down at the table, glancing over the food. "I... have three brothers. All older. I shared with the one closest to my age when we went to stay with my dad. He didn't have enough room for us. The other two were old enough they didn't have to stay with him."
Cody sat across from me, raising a brow. "Stay with your dad? What's that mean?"
"My parents are divorced." I spoke quietly. "Broke up when I was four, so we went back and forth between living with him, and living with my mom."
"That...Must be hard."
I shrugged. "We had done it so long, I didn't know any other way. And...by the time I was ten, we didn't have to do it anymore."
Cody tilted his head in confusion. "Why not?"
I hesitated then shook my head, grabbing a piece of food that almost looked like a fry. "Its not important."
Cody opened his mouth then shut it, then opened it again. "You don't like talking about your family much do you?"
I sighed, waiting till I was done chewing before answering. "There's not all that much to talk about, but... no, I guess I don't."
He nodded, but he didn't look satisfied with the answer.
Before either one of us could speak again, a knock sounded on the door.
I glanced up at Cody, then at the door, swallowing nervously.
Cody stood. "Easy, kid. I'll get it." He walked over to the door and cracked it up, looking at who was there. "Ah, Rex. What brings you here?"
Cody opened the door more and stepped aside so 'Rex' could come in.
A blonde clone, wearing blue armor sighed tiredly. "Fives." Was his simple answer.
Cody chuckled, shutting the door. "What happened now?"
"He broke another jetpack."
"Another?" Cody's brow shot up.
"Yeah, another." Rex huffed. "I think he got it from one of your men. I'm hoping atleast. It's either you or Wolffe, and Wolffe isn't as forgiving."
"I'll take inventory and figure it out." Cody told him, sending him a small smile.
Rex nodded then glanced to the side, spotting me sitting at the table still and eyeing him warily. "Who's this?"
Before I could answer, the door opened and in stormed a handful of other clones.
I jumped up, startled, and narrowed my eyes at them.
Cody came over and murmured to me, "Easy, its alright."
I hesitated but nodded, shifting behind him more, and staring at the newcomers, who'd busied themselves trying to talk to Rex.
"I don't know what you're talking about."
"You took some of my supplies!"
"Are you sure it was him? It could've been–"
"He's the only possibility! Who else is dumb enough to steal medical supplies?"
"I was trying to give you an option if you didn't cut me off."
Rex sighed heavily. "If one of you says another word, you're all on sanitation duty for a month."
That made all the arguing stop almost instantaneously.
"Now," Rex started, taking a breath. "Tup, what happened?"
"Why does he get to tell you?" One of the men, the one with a tattoo covering the side of his head, complained.
Rex narrowed his eyes at him. "Because, he's the only one who I believe will tell me the truth."
"Yeah," A clone with a goatee and a '5' on his temple nudge a long haired clone standing beside him. "Tups the baby. He wouldn't lie."
"Enough." Rex cut in. "Tup, what happened?"
'Tup' rubbed the back of his neck, his head turning slightly so I could see a teardrop tattoo under his right eye. "After the jetpack incident, Fives had a gash on his arm and, uh...Had me go get medical supplies from Kix."
"Why didn't he just go to Kix?" Rex asked, raising a brow.
"He didn't want to get in more trouble, Sir." Tup answered. "But Jesse saw me take the supplies and told Kix and...then we came here."
Rex sighed and nodded. "Thank you, Tup. Fives, give Kix the supplies back. And Jesse, if this happens again, which it shouldn't," Rex gave Fives a pointed look. "You come to me first. Understood?"
Jesse, the one with the big tattoo, nodding. "Yes, Captain. Understood."
Rex nodded, then glanced back at me and Cody.
I was still hiding behind Cody, but he seemed amused of the whole situation, putting me at ease.
"I apologize for that, Cody." Rex said, sending a side glare to the four on the side.
Cody chuckled. "It's alright, as long as it's sorted out."
"It will be, Sir." The fourth clone, Kix, I'm assuming, assured.
Cody nodded. "Good. Then there won't be any problem."
I looked throughout the group, catching the eye of Fives, who looked me over.
"Who's the girl, Commander?" He asked, ignoring whatever was just said.
That turned all their attention on me, which I hated and I had to fight my instict to shrink under their gazes.
When I didn't answer, Cody stepped forward. "This is Fae. We found her on our last mission and she's here with us now."
Rex glanced at Cody, obviously a little confused. "Found her?"
Cody nodded again, "In the City we were fighting the Separatists in."
"So you found a stray and decided to take it home?" Jesse asked, looking at him weirdly.
I glared, my voice coming out sharp. "I'm not a stray, and I came willingly."
All brows went up at my sudden cut in.
Cody cleared his throat awkwardly. "She...there's a few reasons we brought her back..."
"What are those reasons?" Kix asked, staring at me and trying to decipher something. "She nearly looks sick...Is she hurt?"
Cody shifted. "I am not allowed to discuss that yet. And no, she's not hurt."
I glanced up at him. I hadn't known my case was top secret, but I suppose it made sense.
The tear drop clone stepped forward, offering out his hand for me to shake. "I'm Tup. Nice to meet you. Sorry for this being you first impression of us."
I looked at his hand then at his face. His expression was the only that wasn't judgmental. He even had a small smile on his lips.
Slowly, I extended my arm and grabbed his hand, shaking it. "Nice to meet you too. And it's alright. Not your fault."
He smiled a little more and nodded to his side. "The first one over there is Fives, beside him is Jesse and then Kix."
I nodded at them and earned one from Kix, Jesse didn't do anything, and Fives stepped forward.
"You're too young to be a padawan." He examined.
I raised brow. "Whats a padawan?"
That seemed to shock them all.
"How do you not know what a padawan is?" Jesse asked, but he didn't seem rude this time.
"Uh, Fae...grew up in a, uh, sheltered place." Cody hurried to lie, but obviously didn't do a good job at it.
Kix was obviously suspicious, but he looked to me. "You know what a Jedi is?"
I shrugged and nodded. "Sorta. I'm not sure I understood it all completely but..." I trailed off, my voice suddenly quiet.
Kix nodded. "Well, a padawan is basically their student. They go on missions together and learn from the Jedi Master."
"I...I guess that makes sense. Thanks." I spoke softly.
" 'Course, kid." He answered and shot me a slight smile.
"How'd she end up in your care?" Rex asked, breaking off mine and Kixs conversation.
"She was in a town on Florrum, was hiding in a bunker, luckily we were there and destroyed all the clankers before they could find her and destroyed the whole town." Cody explained, nudging me with his elbow.
"Well, it's a good thing they found you when they did." Fives spoke, sounding relieved. "Those clankers would've killed you."
I rubbed the back of my neck. "Yeah, I guess so."
"After that, there were a few questions we needed answered, so she came with us." Cody continued. "She's with me for now. General Kenobi is talking to the Jedi Council."
"The Council is involved?" Jesse sounded surprised. "Kriff, kid. What's made you so important?"
I sighed. "Wish I could tell you...not sure how I ended up here."
"How old are you?" Kix asked, head tilting.
"Fourteen." I told him, "Just turned it two months ago."
"Don't you have, uh, parents, or something? Someone to look after you, and would be looking for you?" Tup asked, seeming hesitant on the topic.
"I...mostly just take care of myself." I shrugged. "Not sure parents will look or even know I'm gone."
"There's a lot of things we need to figure out." Cody said, looking around the room. "For now, go finish the tasks Rex gave you and get everything sorted out."
They all nodded and gave a few 'Yes, Sirs', before leaving.
Tup was the only one to say goodbye.
'He seems sweet.' I thought to myself.
"Its getting late, kid." Cody came back after he closed the door. "Finish eating then get some sleep. I'll set out some blankets for you on the ground to sleep on. Sorry, I don't have much more."
I shook my head and sat back down at the food, which was now cold. "I've slept in worse places, it's alright."
He nodded then walked away to set it all up.
I continued eating, rubbing my tired eyes. After not sleeping on the way to this planet, I guess I was tired.
Time started to blur together, my body on autopilot. I finished eating and Cody had come back by that time.
I didn't know if he or I said something, but soon after, he led me to another small room and I layed down on the floor where he set out the blankets.
It wasn't the most comfortable, but at the moment, I didn't care.

I just finished watching Tales of the Jedi for the 2nd time and I’d like to share my thoughts.
Spoilers for TotJ!!!
The series overall—Animation was ok (I mentioned how Rex/the clone model still looked off here) but overall it was good (especially the environments). THE MUSIC WAS 💯💕 BEAUTIFUL. There were a few things that was kinda like 🤔 but it’s nothing too major and I had some thoughts on what I, personally, would’ve liked to see.
Ep1–Life and Death
—Thought it was good. Baby Ahsoka’s design is similar to the one shown briefly in CW 👍
—The panda dog things were adorable and the food they eat looks SO SIMILAR to Mantell Mix
—The village elder does 3 hand poses (and says something in their native language) when Ahsoka’s mom made a kill, which reminded me of Rebels and the 3 hand poses that opens the portal thing
—Giant cat looked very tiger-y and immediately thought of Jungle Book, though the stories are very different.
Ep2–Justice
—Loved Young Dooku/Quigon duo. Like their designs/interactions, everything, was really good imo
—Dooku wears a cape and not a jedi robe
—Quigon didn’t have his padawan braid but I guess that was time between Padawan/Knight.
—Liked the fact that the senator’s son wasn’t upset about being kidnapped. Loved 2 Ton’s design (the droid)
—clearly sets up Dooku’s fall to the dark side.
Ep3–Choices
—The Mace/Dooku duo was something I’ve wanted since seeing them in Attack of the Clones.
—Mace’s design is also changed slightly (like Anakin/Ahsoka/Obi) to keep up with the better technology. How old is Mace? I honestly don’t know and actually expected him to look a bit younger. Like I know he trained Depa Bilaba (Caleb/Kanan’s master) but, to me, he seemed to be the same age as he was in CW.
—Loved that AotC was more of a noir/detective movie and seemed to continue into this episode (Windu/Dooku solving a jedi murder case).
—I think the guard guy that Mace killed was the son of the guy with the different colored eyes. Which means Mace killed someone’s son and left a father without a child and he also killed Boba’s father Jango, leaving Boba without a father. That’s just my opinion/HC and wasn’t confirmed or anything.
—MACE DID NOT STEAL THE COUNCIL SEAT FROM DOOKU! From context, Dooku has no problem doing things his way and explaining it to the Council. That means this has happened more than the one time we saw in context of this episode. I believe Dooku never really had a chance at a seat on the Council. He believed he did. I think his own ego/shortsightedness blinded Dooku into believing he was guaranteed a spot on the Council
—By now it’s clear that Anakin and Dooku have a lot in common (think RotS when Anakin got upset that he wasn’t a ‘master’ but on the Council)
Ep4–The Sith Lord
—This was my favorite episode!
—MASTER YADDLE!!! FINALLY!!! I believe we first see her in The Phantom Menace when Anakin is brought to the Temple on Coruscant and the jedi are testing him. She appears briefly in the background and has no speaking lines if I remember correctly. I know Yaddle has a different story in Star Wars Legends (the Extended Universe—books/video games etc) but I actually really enjoyed seeing her.
—Her relationship with Dooku seemed really important. Dooku was Yoda’s padawan and my own HC is that Yaddle and Yoda are Grogu’s (Baby Yoda) parents. I believe Yoda/Dooku/Yaddle were kind of like Anakin/Ahsoka/Obiwan respectively. Ahsoka is Anakin’s padawan but also had Obi-wan as a friend/mentor just like Dooku is Yoda’s padawan, but also seemed to be friends with Yaddle.
—Also I believe this was the only episode that is set during one of the movies (Phantom Menace). Dooku talks with Quigon about the Sith Lord (Darth Maul) that he and Obiwan encountered on Tatooine before it changes to Yaddle informing Dooku about Quigon’s funeral (after being killed by Maul on Naboo). She is clearly concerned about Dooku, especially when he says he must let Quigon go as he’s one with the Force. She asks him if he ‘can do this’, to which he responds with ‘what choice have I?’
—Dooku’s always been shown to have great control over his emotions (which is why he doesn’t have sith eyes) but despite that, Yaddle’s concern wins out and she follows him to his meeting with Emperor Palpatine.
—DOOKU LOVED QUIGON JUST LIKE OBI LOVED ANAKIN! His convo with Yaddle earlier (about the tree) clearly showed that. And he was RIGHTLY upset that Palpy had him killed by Maul.
—SHE LEFT THE COUNCIL FOR DOOKU!!! SHE EVEN ADMITTED HE WAS RIGHT!! That is love right there. She clearly had a loving friendship relationship with Dooku for her to leave the Council. And what does Obi-wan tell Satine? ‘Had you said the word, I would’ve left the Jedi Order’. Yaddle probably didn’t think of Dooku in a romantic way (I hope), but she obviously cared about him just as he cared for Quigon.
—YADDLE BEGGED DOOKU TO HELP HER BRING PALPY TO JUSTICE.
—THAT WHOLE FIGHT, JESUS!
—Ok, whoever is in charge of ratings sucks cuz there’s no way that this episode was TV-PG. Yaddle’s death was BRUTAL! Like they didn’t really show the blade connecting, but they showed her lifeless body after, made the saber-on-flesh-sound, and showed Dooku beginning the execution move. JESUS Disney. Shit
Ep5–Practice Makes Perfect
—Seeing young Anakin and mullet-Obiwan in clone armor made me SO HAPPY!!!
—The sass is still there!! AAHHH!!!
—Plo Koon sitting with Yoda, Obiwan and Anakin watching Ahsoka proudly was such a dad-move!!!
—And seeing young Caleb/Kanan and Bilaba at Ahsoka’s training test was amazing! And he was so obviously gushing about Ahsoka to Bilaba when they walked out lol
—MASTER SINUBE!!! GRAMPS!!! Was this before or after that Lightsaber Lost ep?!?!
—Of course Anakin was unimpressed with the test and unintentionally taught her how to survive O66.
—Seeing the clones in phase 1 armor again made me flash back to early CW animation.
—ABSOLUTELY LOVED JESSE’S LITTLE ‘Sorry Commander!’ As it was funny in the moment and tragic when you think about the fact that Jesse lead the turned clones during O66 and was going to kill Ahsoka (and possibly Rex too).
—I think this episode is the only one with a time skip. Loved the transition of the stuns and Ahsoka waking up older and seeing the clones in their phase 2 armor.
—THEY MADE ANAKIN’S TRAINING INTO A GAME!!!
—Then skipped again to O66 with Ahsoka and Rex walking into the hangar full of clones ready to kill them (with Jesse out front).
—Gave me Arcane ep7 Ekko/Jinx vibes TO THE MAX!! (Though if I’m being honest, I preferred Arcane’s version though it’s so close lol).
Ep6–Resolve
—Ok so I think out of all of them, this one’s the worst.
—Don’t get me wrong, it was ok, but out of every ep, I didn’t really care for it.
—My fav part/scene was Padme’s funeral and Bail’s convo with her.
—Ahsoka is living in hiding in a small farming village that has Empire presence I guess.
—Ahsoka has to use the Force to save one of the workers, who realizes Ahsoka is a jedi. Her brother rats Ahsoka out and an Inquisitor comes. From what I’ve heard online, it’s the 6th Brother?? Idk so please correct me if I’m wrong (I believe we’ve seen the 3rd Sister-Reva, 5th Brother, 7th Sister, and the 8th Brother briefly)
—So I’ve never gotten into SW Legends (the Extended Universe), but apparently from what I’ve seen online, this episode is supposed to be an animated version of a book called Ahsoka. It’s basically telling the same story 2 different ways.
—That’s pretty lazy 🤔 to me. Like there are so many other story options (even within just Ahsoka) so it still could’ve worked out 3 v 3 (3 Ahsoka/3 Dooku) eps. I’ve never read the book but I believe it’s about Ahsoka’s time after O66 and how she gets her white lightsabers.
—I heard that the female worker Ahsoka saves is actually black/dark-skinned in the book which is blatant whitewashing (I think I also read that the character was also established as queer). She was replaced by a female with fair skin, straight brown hair and light hazel-y brown eyes. SERIOUSLY?! THE WHITEWASHING HAS TO STOP!!! POC MATTER (in the US, it’s Nov so it’s Native American Heritage month! And Nov 1st was dia de los muertos/day of the dead).
—The Inquisitor’s design looked cool af
—The fight was ok. Reminded me a little of Maul v Obiwan but b/c there was no obvious history it wasn’t very impactful. Liked how he faded away though. And from what I read, he’s voiced by Clancy Brown??? Really!? I love Clancy Brown!! Also it seemed like the Inquisitor knew Ahsoka (he knew her name), though Ahsoka made no connection to him.
I guess those are my main thoughts on the series as a whole and on each episode as well.
What I’d change:
—ep 6 entirely. I’d actually would’ve loved to see how Ahsoka got her second lightsaber instead of the Inquisitor.
—the whitewashed clone model obviously
—So I loved ep4 and Dooku vs Yaddle, BUT! How cool would it have been if Dooku’s saber slowly changed to purple as the fight went on before turning red as he struck down the Jedi Master?? I’m sure that would absolutely go against how lightsabers turn red, having to do with emotions/feelings and that Dooku is great at controlling his own emotions. I just think that would’ve been cool. Though I’m sure that goes against how he actually got them (assuming it’s explained in Legends or something).
—I loved ep1 and baby ‘Soka. But I also love Plo Koon. Would’ve died to see him discover her and talk with her parents/the village elder.
What I’d like to see going forward, assuming there will be a s2 (w/ 6eps):
—MORE CLONE CONTENT!! Gimme a story about Boil going back to Ryloth with Waxer’s armor (post Umbara) and telling Numa what happened to their ‘nera’. Gimme cadet cody/rex bonding! Gimme 99’s creation and demotion to maintenance!! Would also give Disney yet another chance to change the clone model (though if we do get more clone content I highly doubt they would). Gimme Jango/Boba bonding (bonus points for Omega’s creation) I’d like to know SPECIFICALLY what Jango told Boba to make him hate clones. Gimme Wolffe’s demotion from Marshall Commander cuz he lost the whole 104th on the Malevolence. Gimme more clone domestic-life with the boys painting their armor/being w/ their Jedi generals. Just GIMME MORE CLONE BOYS!!! UNWHITEWASHED!!!!
—You can’t tell me that Tales of the Clones wouldn’t be badass lol
—I’d love to see General Grievous’s backstory. From what I’ve seen online, he’s some sort of warrior-hero/savior to his people but the Empire (I think) turned him into what we know as ‘Grievous’. Also that’s not even his name (I forget what it really is, but b/c Grievous sounds like ‘grieve’ I have a bad feeling that it has to do with his people or something).
—Young Yoda and his master. Yoda talks the way he does b/c of his master, which is why Yaddle doesn’t speak the same way (which makes me feel like Baby Yoda/Grogu will sound just like Mando lol).
—Black Krrsantan (Santo-the black wookie form BoBF) or Chewie’s backstory. I know we get a bit of Chewie from Solo: A Star Wars Story and would honestly prefer more Santo content (I think he fights Obiwan in a comic or something) but idk how likely that would be.
—Samuel L. Jackson has stated that he wants to return to Mace Windu/SW and was quoted saying of Mace’s demise- ‘in Star Wars, people survive getting their hands chopped off all the time. So it’s possible,” (or something like that—point is, he thinks Mace could’ve survived his fall/chopped limb). Would love to see Mace post O66 if he in fact, lives.
—Grogu teaching younglings the Jedi and Mandalorian ways, diving into his backstory pre-Mando. I HC that he’s Yaddle and Yoda’s son. It would also give SW a chance to tell a story post—the Skywalker saga timeline (Phantom Menace all the way through to the Rise of Skywalker), since Grogu can out-live the characters in the sequel trilogy.
—I’d like to see High Republic era stuff. I know little to nothing about that era but from fanart I’ve seen, it looks dope af (I know the new animated show Young Jedi Adventures is supposed to be set during that era, but it’s aimed for preschoolers so obviously I’d like something more adult set in that era—but I’m still going to check it out when it releases! Lol)
—I played the SW computer game The Old Republic so I’d also love anything set during that era as well (Master Satele Shan, Master Orgus Din, etc)
So I think that’s most of my thoughts on Tales of the Jedi. I definitely like it more than Bad Batch but not sure if it’s better than CW (to me they are equal). Thanks to all that have made it through this post. I promise I’ll be back with a fic real soon. Thanks everyone!

Finally got around to watching some Tales of the Jedi and I have some thoughts ...
Life and Death
First of all, can I say how great the animations look? All the nature scenes in that first episode … I liked that we got to see so many different and beautiful plant and animal species. Makes me just wish I could travel there to go hiking and study all the weird plant life. This scene ...
Tumblr media
... absolutely gorgeous! Kudos to the animation team!
The village scenes were great, too. I’m very curious to learn more about the culture of the Togruta and their language and traditions. Although I’m not really sure if it’s wise to take a toddler on a hunt if there’s the Star Wars version of a saber-toothed tiger roaming the forest. Especially since Pav-ti was also traveling alone, unaccompanied. But I assume that the area is generally considered safe and animal attacks are rare. She also set Ahsoka down on the ground in the clearing and talked to her out loud, so she probably felt relatively safe.
As soon as the predator appeared, I started thinking about how Ahsoka’s abilities in the Force will show up, since that was obviously what the scene was going for. I liked that it wasn’t anything flashy, she didn’t Force-push the predator, she didn’t levitate her mother or the gun ... instead we got a bit of dramatic retardation when she was dragged deeper into the forest and then a calm, gentle scene where she connected with the beast. To me, that works so well because that’s what the Force really is, in its essence. Connection, peace, understanding—not something to be used for aggression or grand special effects. And to see an innocent baby like Ahsoka use it without showing the slightest fear of the predator … just with curiosity, trust and kindness … It was a really beautiful moment.
And then the ending … “Ahsoka is Jedi”—very gripping. Theatrical, yes (also considering what will become of Ahsoka in the future), but in a good sense.
Also, I really loved all the different designs of the Togruta! On an aesthetic level, I always thought they were one of the most beautiful species in Star Wars.

Justice
I’m a little on the fence about this episode. I actually watched it twice because it felt a bit unsatisfying at first and I wanted to make sure I hadn't missed anything. Dooku and Qui-Gon are two of my favorite characters and I was really looking forward to learning more about their relationship, but they both acted so strangely reserved that it was hard for me to figure out what they were thinking. For example, the first time I watched the episode I thought they acted surprisingly distant toward each other, the second time I watched it I got the impression that they had a close relationship and worked very well together. You could really end up with different interpretations of their characters depending on how you choose to understand looks, body language, what was said and what was wasn’t. I was puzzled by Qui-Gon’s almost lack of reaction when Dooku threw him around and attacked the senator with murderous intent. Their brief exchange at the end felt warm, but again, it was so brief that I wondered: don’t you want to maybe talk about what happened? Or am I supposed to infer that at this point in the timeline, what happened is a repetitive thing, injustice and corrupt senators and Dooku losing his cool and trying to Force-choke people, and that they’re both kind of frustrated and resigned and already know and understand each other’s point of view, so there's not much to talk about? Not that it wouldn’t fit their characters as I see them. Personally, I think they’re two of the most stoic and introverted Jedi—introverted in the sense that they internalize their thoughts and emotions for the most part, so they naturally don’t talk about or show them much, and they don’t feel the need to do so. Unlike, say, Anakin and, to some extent, Obi-Wan (who really should have had someone to invite him in for tea and a long, quiet talk). But I digress. I don’t know, I think I would have liked to know a little more about Dooku’s and (especially) Qui-Gon’s thoughts on the whole situation and how it reflects the politics of the Council and the Senate, aside from the obvious things we already know. Like this, the conflict, reactions and resolution all felt a bit set up and on the nose, but that may also be due to the episode’s short runtime. And I guess the series first needed to introduce Jedi!Dooku's character for people who only watch the movies/shows and don't know anything about his past?
Things I liked:
- the slow built-up of tension in the beginning! Maybe it’s because of the Halloween season, but it felt almost creepy, like the beginning of a horror story. Would be really nice to see Star Wars experiment some more with different genres.
- the detail with the woman who betrayed the kidnappers’ location for some food. She looked so ashamed with her own actions it hurt. And how quick the other villagers were to explain and sympathize ... So much compassion was probably unrealistic given the fact that several villagers were seriously injured by the Senator’s actions and the whole ordeal could have ended in a bloodbath, but it didn't bother me. The episode was dark enough.
Other stuff:
I disapprove of Dooku’s and Qui-Gon’s fashion choices. Qui-Gon, where is your cloak? You look like a youngling in that tunic. And while I love Sith!Dooku’s cape, for Jedi!Dooku I will always headcanon him with a regular Jedi cloak. I don’t care, I just love the cloaks. Everyone should be snuggled up in cloaks all the time. Except for when they do the Dramatic Cloak Drop, of course.
Tumblr media
Choices
There were so many things I loved about this episode! Dooku and Mace as a team! Raxus Secundus! All that ambiguous politics that I always wished they had done more with in the prequels! The little bit of murder mystery feeling we got with Master Katri’s death! And her funeral at the end; we know nothing about her, but it still felt heart-breaking seeing all the Jedi coming together and lowering her casket into the ground.
I liked that the episode portrayed Dooku’s character in a more sympathetic light. His view and concerns were definitely understandable. His character has so much potential and it’s great that we finally get to see some of it on screen. It’s interesting that he asked Mace if his behavior was partly motivated by the fact that he wanted the seat in the Council—I would never believe that of Mace, but Jedi are only human sentient beings and we always act out of self-interest, sometimes unconsciously, even if we do our best. And of course it makes sense for this series, which tries to give us Dooku’s perspective, to show us an incident when Dooku makes some really good points and when, in contrast, Mace’s approach with his strict adherence to the rules was rather detrimental to the situation.
And despite the differences and tension between Dooku and Mace, I thought they had great chemistry and I would so love to see more of them going on missions together. All the silent looks they shared! They would actually make an awesome good cop bad cop team! And I also feel like they could have a similar dark sense of humor. That’s also the one thing I would have done differently: it would have been nice to see them interacting in a bit more casual and friendly way at the beginning. It’s enough that Mace had a strained relationship with one Sith Lord. He can be Dooku’s counterpart in the episode and have an opposing opinion without repeating the role he already took towards Anakin. And a little more levity would also serve Jedi!Dooku well, because if you only see him smiling and joking after he has fallen—that would be really tragic. Don’t get me wrong, I like the rather dark and serious tone of the series and of course Dooku and Mace are especially dark and serious people, it just would have been nice to see a lighter side of their friendship. That would also make Dooku’s betrayal hurt so much more.
Tumblr media
They both were awesome in the fight scene! I love how pretty the forest looks with all these pink flowers … and Mace fits right in with his pink lightsaber … and Dooku is just casually blocking shots behind his back … easily my favorite part of the episode! Next to Ki-Adi Mundi’s enormous head in a hood.
Would love to talk about episode 4, too, but I’m still at the point where I’m screaming and making unintelligible sounds, because there were so many good scenes! Dooku and Jocasta! Dooku and Qui-Gon! The tree! And of course Yaddle! The imagery when she lifted the door to let the light in! And that “I’m afraid” quote!
I just have so many feelings about everyone. Why must you do this, Star Wars?

[long, long post incoming] ok so here's my version of the sequel trilogy:
first, since they wanted to recreate what happened in Legends, i'd keep the same layout. sure. it's good. so, let's start
rey is ben skywalker. this is a no brainer. rey is luke's daughter and only child and she's strong in the force. now, who her mother is is actually irrevelant. ofc i'd like for it to be Mara but since this is disney canon and since the casual movie people probably don't know who she is, i think it's unnecessary to establish who luke's wife/companion is. that could be added in the post-movies material that fill in the gap between trilogies. especially since in this trilogy i'd keep her dead too. sorry but this needs to be streamlined. she died in the attack at the Jedi academy, for example. this would give both luke and rey a personal motive (as it did in Legends)
kylo is jacen, just as they wrote, and i would keep his name this time. so jacen turns to the dark side and destroys the remaining Jedi at some kind of ambush at luke's academy (this would explain the conspicuous lack of jedi; even though there wasn't many to begin with which is good) and then took over parts of the new republic (or is trying to).
snoke is his sith master like lumyia was in legacy of the force. and snoke is connected to palpatine and the remains of the empire. that's one thing the sequel trilogy did right btw: the empire is still out there in some fashion, retaining control of some parts of the galaxy, although that was already the case in legends so. another "homage"
we see coruscant (i can't believe we didn't see coruscant) where leia is chancellor or something and there's no resistance. why would the new republic be the new rebels? that makes no sense. they're just fighting against the imperial remnant but this time the opposing leader is jacen-kylo. once again, personal motive. drama. tragedy
in my mind, luke abandoned rey in jakku because he had some vision about the attack/jedi massacre at the academy so he wanted to keep her safe. but then something happened that prevented him from retrieving her. maybe rey herself was taken to jakku by a third party and luke doesn't know that, especially if rey is cut off from the force until the first movie (hence why the movie is the force awakens....hello?) so he can't sense her. maybe luke left mara's blue lighsaber (his own and anakin's before her) with rey. this could be a macguffin used to confirm her identity later on
there's no jaina. i think rey should take over her role as defeater of jacen but otherwise i'd keep rey as a ben-replacement. however, i do think han and leia should have another child. so maybe jaina can be here still but not in a jedi role
torn on whether people should know about rey. maybe leia and han know but not jacen-kylo. this would fit with their interactions in TFA in which kylo is suspicious of her identity and during their duel says "it IS you". remember that? also maz kanata's "i've lived long enough to see the same eyes in different people" and the vision of anakin and luke rey has in her basement etc. you know all those things...
regardless i think kylo-jacen would try to turn her to the dark side. because he sees it as his duty. one of the things i loved about Legends is how jacen and ben have a large age gap and how jacen sees his cousin clearly as a son. and how he relishes having taken away luke's only child - the Skywalker Heir - away from him and jedi influence and molded him to be his Sith heir. i actually thought that was absolute genius and i'd love to see that here but since in the ST their age gap is not that big and kylo-jacen doesn't have that influence over rey-ben, then i'd settle for some fight over the skywalker legacy.
like, as stated in the movie kylo feels the pull to the light. well i think rey should feel the pull to the dark. it would create some interesting parallels and provide conflict between Rey and Luke & Leia. now IF her mother was mara and IF mara was palpatine's daughter then rey would be a skywalker-palpatine hence why she's so powerful and feels the pull to the dark so easily (in this sense, i see their vision with what they attempted to do in the 3rd movie lol in fact palpatine coming back through cloning is completely supported by legends material which is sf funny)
in fact that's the difference between jacen and ben and between kylo and this rey. you see, kylo-jacen is only half-skywalker but rey-ben is not only half-skywalker (and of the male side/Luke's too) but also the child of TWO JEDI. that's rare and that's special. being an only child even more so. so this is what jacen-kylo wants: to make sure rey-ben is a Sith and not a jedi, to finish what their grandfather started and yes, to eventually have her succeed him as a Sith Lord and Empress (he's super jealous of her which motivates him even more to corrupt her and so kill Luke's legacy).
to him and the Sith followers, Vader was Special (well they're right but they use him for their own means; remember that only Luke was present when Palpatine and Vader died. do others know what happened? namely that vader killed palpatine? ironically he fulfilled his destiny not only to restore the balance but also as a sith apprentice overthrowing his master ) and the skywalkers are / MUST BE a family of Sith, not a family of Jedi, to fulfill what they see as Vader's original destiny. Luke broke the cycle and that needs to be fixed. and so he needs to die and all the jedi must be destroyed again. i think this fits with the prequels-sequels being mirrors while the middle-original trilogy is something special that breaks the mold.
so now at movie 2 we only have two jedi: luke and rey (but finn is a jedi apprentice for sure). hence the title of the movie. i think rey had to fight her feelings about her abandonment and come to terms with all that and Luke is also conflicted of course cause maybe he thought she was dead (severance from the force) and also because they have to defeat (or redeem) their relative - rey's cousin (who she just discovered, remember that she just found her family) and luke's apprentice
at this point they should be together with Han and Leia and the new republic AND i don't think they should die. they should all live.
then of course we reach: The Rise of Skywalker. ok again this title is obvious. this is about jacen-kylo and rey-ben, the conflict between the cousins for the Sykwalker's ultimate legacy - Jedi or Sith?
i think Rey should defeat Kylo and kill him like Jaina did in legends or he dies by some other way. or he doesn't die. but rey has to come out on top and is the empire defeated forever? maybe not. maybe it will always be there, a faction who wants to fight for control of part of the galaxy. that's nothing new. the Sith? will also probably come back one day. the dark side exists all the time so.
the point is, this is not about those things. it's about the Skywalkers. literally. and their journey comes at an end with this generation.
see, this is 3 trilogies and they have to be connected: either by the jedi, the sith, palpatine, but above all by the 3 generations of the same family. and how they ultimately succeed at what was broken in the 1st place: the republic and the jedi order. but that doesn't mean both of these institutions will never face enemies again. they will always struggle. but they always survive and come out stronger.
anyway i think that's all i can think about now. but i'd definitely write this as a full story or script if i could or had the time. thanks for reading

Overslept, had a great fanfic idea!
I had a Ridiculously Coherent Star Wars dream again!
--
At some point before Order 66, Anakin finally went "screw the Jedi AND the Sith, I'm leaving so I can finally acknowledge being married in public." He told Palpatine to shove it, but not without losing the lower half of his legs from the ensuing fight. Obi-Wan had to drag him to the nearest place he could find for a half-decent human medic, and then frantically hunt for Padme while Anakin was howling in pain in the operating room. MY FANFIC DREAMS LOVE TO MAKE "IT'S SIMILAR BUT DIFFERENT!!!" SCENES, LOL.
Ironically, their relationships got a lot healthier on the run. Since a war just happened and everyone ELSE in the Galaxy was getting out of Dodge as well, nobody asked many questions about Ani Planetfall, the suspiciously pretty Tatooine man who hates authority and has three prosthetic limbs, his suspiciously pretty and HIGH-CLASS wife Padme, and his clearly unrelated "brother" Ben.
Padme and Ben are constantly horrified that since Ani's now one of many runaway slaves from Tatooine, people are fine with joking about what KIND of slave he used to be, and how Padme must have stolen "the important parts" once she got pregnant. They are especially upset if Ani's right there and he just seethes but doesn't say anything. On the other hand, their cover story is a lot easier to deal with now that they aren't in DIRECT warfare, or keeping their actual relationship secret.
Unfortunately, Ani thinks that they're overreacting. Given that his old master used to gamble with him in pod-racing, and his most recent master was going to order him to kill his former brethren, he finds dumb quips about how he's a "bargain" to be unpleasant, but bearable.
Once the twins are born and people start making "buy one, get TWO free" jokes to Padme, he starts getting the will to fight people. Say what you want about him, but his kids were NEVER slaves and they will never touch another grain of sand if they have to walk on his dead body to avoid it, you stupid motherfuckers.
--
Chaos happened once Luke and Leia were nine or ten years old, so the Planetfalls got separated from Ben and ended up crash-landing on Earth, in Texas, by the border. Ani cannot get a break from SANDY PLACES, omg.
The Hutt Clan's reach apparently extended to Space-Texas and people yet again pegged Ani as a runaway slave from Tattooine, lol.
Speaking of the Hutt Clan, Space-Texas also had a gigantic arena/coliseum for pit-fights. A couple weeks after the Planetfalls settled in, the landlord told them that at least one person of age in a family had to watch every week, barring emergencies or schedule-conflicts, or else the government would make EVERYONE attend. But politely, you know.
With Padme not being a fan of state-sanctioned pit-fighting, Ani grudgingly said he'd go. He then immediately drank two beers and told everyone nearby that he's already been in a war and he doesn't want to see MORE fighting. It's outrageous and unfair that rich people are staging fights using poor people as toys, and if THEY were the ones who risked losing three out of four limbs, he bets the whole arena would be torn down next month. WANNA SEE MY METAL ARM??? I GOT IT FROM CORUSCANT!!!
--
One scene-cut later, Ani is driven home by the cops. A fighter's wife complains that he's WAY too drunk and upsetting her daughters with his war-stories, and they're supposed to be switching to a new city next week.
The cops just decide to give Ani a warning and tell Padme to remind him that about half of his weight is PROSTHETICS now, so he doesn't have his former alcohol tolerance and he might accidentally put himself in the hospital next time.
When the cops leave, Leia says that Ani just spilled beer on himself so he'd smell more drunk than he was, and the other family asked for help because they know he's a Jedi.
Ani winces and goes "Honey, remember that strangers get creeped out when you know too much. Also I'm not a Jedi anymore, so you get a time-out for telling people. Go play with Luke or something."
So Padme is like, "No, Ani, time-out is the OPPOSITE of letting the kids play with each other. Is this why Leia doesn't care when I do it?!"
He frantically changes the subject and explains that he's just going to get the family to a space-port so the team can all head off the planet together. He's only going to be gone for one or two weeks, he swears. And he doesn't need the lightsaber. What kind of firepower would Space Border-Patrol send to arrest a jumped-up sports team--wannabe gunslingers, who mostly fight people that don't have any guns? Pilots whose main fighting style is "firing shots in a civilian ship's general direction?"
--
SPOILER ALERT, Space Border-Patrol had too much firepower! :P Padme heads out after a few days because the twins tell her Ani's going to be in trouble soon. She brings them and the lightsaber to find Space Border-Patrol in a dogfight with Ani, who has taken one of the shuttles to draw them off.
Unfortunately, he's now too busy to GET the lightsaber unless Padme tries to like, throw it to him between ships. He tells them to get on the main ship, where the pit-fighting team is dealing with a Space-Border platoon that has vibro-weapons.
Padme has gotten some emergency lightsaber training and holds up against the first couple of Space-Border Patrol agents, but without the Force, she's rapidly outfought and decides to stick with the pit-fighters and use her blaster. She refuses to let the twins use the lightsaber because "two ten-year-olds do NOT equal one grown-up! Call your dad right now!"
"HELLO THERE!" Ben calls after he cuts through a door with HIS lightsaber. "Padme! Why is Ani trying to fight from a shuttle, and why do YOU have his lightsaber?"
The twins are ecstatic and go "UNCLE BEN!"
Padme's like "Ben, you're alive! AND I TOLD HIM TO BRING IT! *tosses it at him, sad/angry tears*"

Anakin and the Jedi Babies: Where There’s a Whill, There’s a Windu
Context: original post, chrono
(Summary of the AU: Disaster lineage got tossed back in time. Anakin stayed 21-ish, but Obi-Wan and Ahsoka got deaged, took new names for time-travel reasons (Ylliben and Sokanth, or Ben and Soka) and have been officially adopted by Anakin.)
----------------------
“You’re attached.”
“You’re just now noticing?”
Master Windu eyes him for a few long moments, and then joins him on the ground. Anakin can’t help but smirk. There’s something gratifying about having respect from the man, in this life.
“The other members of the council are concerned.”
“And you aren’t?”
“I am, but for other reasons,” Windu says.
Anakin doesn’t meet his eyes, doesn’t even respond for a long minute. He just looks out over the Room of a Thousand Fountains, spread out below them like hundreds of jungles pieced together in a jigsaw of flora. It’s been his favorite room in the Temple since he was a child, and it’s always overwhelming.
“Most of them have accepted that you adopted them because of Mandalorian customs, and that you stayed where you were due to the will of the Force,” Windu continues. “But they are… uncomfortable with how blatantly your attachments show.”
“Mandalorians are loud and refuse shame. It rubbed off.”
“You said you would kill for these children.”
“I’m their father. That’s kind of expected.”
Windu’s expression is tired. A little tired of stress, but mostly tired of Anakin’s shit. “You know what I’m trying to get at.”
“Do I?”
“Skywalker.”
“No, I’m serious. I need you to spell this out. I’ve had a million slightly-contradicting lectures on this topic, and I’ve been told pretty clearly that I misinterpreted a solid half of them. If you want a constructive conversation, you can’t be vague. I’m thirty-three years old and a father of two, Master Windu, so yes, I’m attached. What you mean by that word is going to change where this conversation goes.”
It’s gratifying to see the Master actually think it over.
“Ylliben’s tattoos have been causing the most recent stir,” Windu finally says. “They nearly all relate to family, whether new or old, and the symbolism is concerning to those who are already upset about the Mandalorian upbringing. They worry that he’ll remain too tied to people he grew up with, and unable to maintain neutrality in future diplomatic ventures, or at risk of a fall if one of the people he’s seen fit to memorialize is injured or killed. The assume a similar state of mind may be applicable to your daughter and yourself, especially given the off-color jokes about how possessive your children are about each other.”
“They’re worried about emotional immaturity,” Anakin summarizes. He offers a wan, unimpressed grin. “They do realize he’s fourteen, right? Nobody’s emotionally stable at fourteen. The hormones are out of whack.”
“I’m aware,” Windu grinds out. “And I’m aware that your histories, of war and all such things, make your ties much stronger, but you can see why the Council worries, especially those who are wary of the memories your children carry but won’t explain. I’m the only one you’ve told, Skywalker.”
“Plo and Depa know.”
“Plo and Depa aren’t on the council.”
“Yet.”
“Skywalker.”
He relents. “It’s not about Mandalore, Master Windu. It’s about Tatooine.”
Windu lets that sit for a few moments, and then sighs. “I don’t know enough about Tatooine to parse that.”
“Shmi and I are former slaves,” Anakin says, as bluntly as he can. “I was freed at nine, she at eleven, and for all that we are free, we’re not freeborn. We were born slaves, and raised slaves, and we were freed too late to forget that life. The way we think is always going to be affected by the way we grew up. That applies to all sentients, more or less, but it’s… the slave mentality is completely at odds with Jedi teachings, because Jedi teachings can only be taught in a safe environment.”
Windu nods slowly, and says, “That does make sense, but it’s… forgive me, but that’s why we don’t normally take children older than four.”
“From the perspective of teaching cultural values, that makes sense,” Anakin allows. “Teaching a Jedi child that’s cared for with communal resources that they do not need material things to be happy is fine; trying to convince a slave child of the same, someone who grew up being told they do not deserve material things, and that their owner can take anything at any time, including family? I lived that life, trying to adjust to ascetic Jedi values that coincided poorly with slave rules. I know exactly how poorly that transition can go when the person caring for the child doesn’t know how to handle the points of conflict.”
“Do you regret joining the Jedi?” Windu asks.
Anakin shakes his head. “My Jedi master, bless him, cared, and tried very hard, but he wasn’t ready to handle a kid like me and in hindsight, I know that. He needed grief counseling, and I needed therapy, and neither of us was getting it. I don’t… I don’t believe anyone in the Temple would have known how to handle a kid like me.”
“But you don’t regret it.”
“I was meant to be a Jedi,” Anakin says, as firmly as he can without getting unnecessarily bitchy about it. “My struggles with the Code aside, I was meant to be here. But the Temple doesn’t have any resources for children who come older, and I think… I think you do need that.”
“You just outlined why a child can’t follow the Code if they come from a different enough background,” Windu says.
Anakin shakes his head. “No, that’s not—I think a kid like me can learn to be a Jedi, if a little unconventional, if they’re taught correctly. The desperation to cling to anyone and anything you have can be unlearned. It takes time and effort, but it’s possible. Soka and Ben are good at balancing Tatooine care with Jedi control. If you talk to Ben, you get an entire philosophical breakdown about it, but I’m more concerned with the child psychology, because that’s what could have broken me.”
Windu frowns. “You’re building up to something.”
“I think the Jedi need programs for children found older who can’t become full Jedi,” Anakin asserts. “Even those who cannot reconcile what they absorbed growing up with the Code and Jedi tradition… they, we, need guidance. The Council tried to reject me for being too old, and now that I’m grown I understand why, but… Master Windu, what do you think would have happened to me if I hadn’t had my Master to fight for me, and had been turned away?”
“We’d have looked into placing you back with your mother and, upon finding out that she was still enslaved, secured her freedom,” Master Windu says. “Qui-Gon Jinn had taken responsibility for you, and thus you were a ward of the Temple until such a time as you were safe again. It would have been cruel to keep you from your mother if we were not to raise you a Jedi, and crueler still to allow you to return to slavery.”
“And you think I’d have been safe with her?” Anakin asks. He needs Master Windu to understand this. “You think that would have ended well?”
“You don’t?”
“Ventress,” Anakin says. “Maul. Aurra Sing, even.”
Windu considers that. He looks across the grand, green room of the garden, and finally speaks. “You think you’d have been found and corrupted by a Sith.”
“I’d already helped Naboo win a battle. I was a powerful child with no support system in this respect, eager to please,” Anakin says. “Ventress and Maul both got twisted into Sith Apprentices. Aurra Sing was just a bounty hunter, but… even if the Jedi had never found me, and the Sith remained unaware, do you think I’d have ended up better than Sing? Or would the pressures of slavery have led to my Fall anyway, eventually slaughtering my owner, the Hutts, the entire system of Tatooine’s hells?”
Windu rubs a hand over his forehead. “I understand what you’re getting at.”
“It’s not just me,” Anakin says, as carefully as he can. “Even without the Sith, there are plenty of Force-Sensitive children in terrible situations that are liable to Fall just because of how power is wielded by those at the bottom. Refusing to take on students who are already at risk… the Jedi are meant to monitor Force users to prevent Sith and other dark-aligned people from harming the galaxy. It’s one of our primary duties. If the Jedi are allowing darksiders to rise just because of an age limit…”
“I get it,” Windu says, just a little aggressive. “I understand. Give me a minute.”
Anakin tries to wait. He’s older now, he can do that. He can be patient.
He tries to convince himself that it’s true.
“You have a point,” Master Windu finally allows. “And with the knowledge that the Sith are out there, still, it’s a more salient point than most would think. The EduCorps already has a subdivision for teaching meditative techniques to low-level force users who need to learn shielding but aren’t sensitive enough to be Jedi, or are just too old, but I see your point about encouraging a program for powerful Force-Sensitives that aren’t discovered early enough to integrate into the community in full.”
“And a more comprehensive Search pattern for the Outer Rim?” Anakin suggests. He shrugs at the look he gets. “What? You’ve seen my midicount. I was on Tatooine for almost a decade, and the only reason anyone found me was that Qui-Gon had to crash a ship in the middle of nowhere. I’m sure the Force led him to me, given all the coincidences, but that’s still a solid nine years that nobody did, despite how I apparently ‘shine like the sun’ or whatever.”
“Humble.”
“The last time I took a midichlorian test on a portable counter, it literally broke the device. That’s not arrogance, that’s just absurd.”
Windu looks exhausted by the comment. Anakin can’t bring himself to feel too bad about it.
“What about Jedha?” Anakin suggests instead. “Jedi find the kids, but if they’re too old to be Jedi, we could coordinate with one of the temples at Jedha to see about having them raised in the traditions of the Whills? They’re a little less orthodox, aren’t they?”
“In some respects,” Master Windu says. “More constrained in others, but… it’s a possibility. Most of the overlooked children, yourself included, are from parts of the Outer Rim that aren’t part of the Republic, Skywalker.”
Anakin shrugs. “And many of them would have been happy to be found and collected by a Jedi, even if they couldn’t become Jedi. Not the Dathomiri, since they’ve got their own thing going on, but… from what I know about Ventress, she actually did have a Jedi Master before the situation on Rattatak became… what’s the word… untenable? He died and she was left alone, and she’d been a slave already and it just… did not end well for her. But that was a planet overrun by pirates and warlords, and would have been approved as a planet the Jedi could help without it being a weird colonialism thing… if the Senate weren’t made up of cheapskates, at least.”
“Skywalker.”
“My name isn’t actually a reprimand, you know.”
“You’re not supposed to just say that,” Windu groans, running a hand over his face. “The Senate’s choice in funding is not optimal, but insulting them in that way, even in private—”
“They’re assholes,” Anakin says, and doesn’t let his humor show. “Except my late wife, but she’s not part of the Senate in this time, so I feel no shame in accusing the entire shitshow of being cheapskates.”
Windu looks about ready to push him off the ledge.
“You’re never allowed to go on diplomatic missions, are you?” Windu mutters.
“Unless it’s to Mandalore,” Anakin clarifies. “Also, never send me to Tatooine. Ever. Please. I kriffing hate that planet.”
“I’m going to assume you have plans to kill a Hutt if we ever send you to—”
“Yes.”
“Okay,” Windu sighs. “I’ll discuss this with the Council, see how they feel about reaching out to Jedha for your suggestion regarding the Whills.”
“And you’ll tell them not to worry about my kids?”
“Skywalker, they are never going to stop worrying about your family,” Windu tells him.
“That’s fair.”

Qui-Gon Jinn: Certified Hypocrite, Fascinating Failure, Mass of Contradictions
For starters, I am just going to let direct quotes from the man speak for itself.
Some excerpts from Master & Apprentice
Tumblr media
Wise words.
Tumblr media
Wait a minute...
Tumblr media
😯😯 What the hell is happening here? All quotes are from the same man in one book.
Qui-Gon Jinn doesn't have an ounce of self-awareness and it is so hilariously terrible.
What is even better (or worse), this is perfectly in line with The Phantom Menace characterization .
I mean,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Remember when he said all this than spent the rest of the movie obsessing over prophecies, the chosen one and literally the future?
"He still has so much to learn of the living force." Qui-Gon Jinn about Obi-Wan in the council scene
After that scene
"The boy is dangerous. They all sense it why can't you?" Obi-Wan Kenobi about Anakin Skywalker to Qui-Gon Jinn
You see Obi-Wan, Master Jinn here has completely lost any sense of "here and now" between his crusade against darkness and divine mission to save the Galaxy.
This in turn, unsurprisingly blinds him to the fact Anakin is not suitable to become a Jedi. Or at least not ready to directly move on to becoming a padawan.
Anakin himself would suffer in a road that is not meant for him. But he is not planning for Anakin the child. He is thinking about The Glorious Chose One.
He is the chosen one. You all must, see it.
And yet from Qui-Gon's perspective it is Obi-Wan who doesn't understand the Living Force.
I have to say if he is truly a student of the living force as many fans claim he has been failing the class for at least 8 years.
Let's move on to another set of entertaining and horrifyingly oblivious quotes from M&A.
Tumblr media
If you look upward you can observe Mr. Here and Now in his natural habitat.
He really acts like future is set in stone than thinks he is the right person to talk about about concentrating in the moment. Unbelievable.
Let's look at this dialogue again. In contrast with the excerpt from above.
Tumblr media
He is all about the future when it suits him. But when Obi-Wan makes a remark on it he obviously should just focus on the moment. This is actually the third time in this post where he contradicts himself while specifically chastising or criticizing Obi-Wan for something Qui-Gon actually does.
Now I don't think Qui-Gon acts with malice. But it is important to point out his obliviousness has become a way of ensuring he is never in the wrong.
Tumblr media
He suffers from an immense hubris. And a man obsessed with prophecies and chosen ones definitely has some kind of savior complex.
But notably Jinn doesn't actually want to put any effort into enacting real change with his limited yet existent capabilities.
He turns down a council seat in M&A because he thinks it would hold him down. From what? Dear God, the reason they offered him a seat was for different opinions. Qui-Gon can complain all he wants but one time he actually had a chance to make his opinions a reality he freaking bailed.
Why? He doesn't want to face his own limits. He can't bare to try and fail. It is much easier to sustain a superiority complex when you are complaining from the sidewalk.
So he fixates all this belief onto prophecies, visions that will magically cure the Galaxy. And of course his place to help fulfill them. To the point where it is the one thing that keeps him standing.
He has binded meaning of his life and belief for goodness dangerously close to his supposed importance in the Galaxy. (You can feel the influences of his former master)
His absolute refusal to engage with reality turns him into mass of contradictions. Cause he doesn't know what he will find or become if he is mistaken in his belief of himself.
He can't face reinvention on the event of defeat.
But this situation was different. It had to be, because the only thing Qui-Gon knew to be absolutely true was that his vision was real.
Oh by the way, it turned out he misunderstood the vision. But when does being wrong ever stopped Qui-Gon Jinn?
Tumblr media
No words.
Only Qui-Gon could have come near declaring himself a prophet after making a mistake. Maybe stop and reflect man? Just stop and think about your actions.
Obi-Wan Kenobi: I have a bad feeling about this.
Qui-Gon Jinn: I don't sense anything.
Of course you don't.
Honestly he doesn't have much to speak for in the cosmic force department either.
(There is the whole force ghost thing I guess. But I have no idea if that is more connected with living or cosmic force. It seems to be more about spiritual enlightenment. Which is ridiculous when you consider Yoda had go through so many trials, face his darkside, learn to truly let go just for Force priestesses to deem him worthy enough to study immortality. Yes Qui-Gon never became a force ghost but he had started his training before he died. And much of Yoda's tests on TCW was about self-awareness. It is not just about being a good person. How did Force Priestesses approve Qui-Gon "I was meant to misinterpret this vision." Jinn? I would understand if he became wiser after death and faced his flaws and all but he never was on that level before he died. You might say even Anakin became a force ghost. But I would remind you, Anakin in the end broke out of denial, acknowledged the wrong of his ways and took that leap to the light side. Self-awareness seems such an important key to becoming a force ghost. Right there with selflessness. Personally it doesn't quite feel right for a character whose biggest flaws are their lack of introspection and hubris which we never see him rise above to be the one that discovers immortality again. It feels more like a rushed plot point to explain how we get from A to B.)
This post got out of control 😂. I honestly just wanted to point out lack of communication might be one of the reasons Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon have trouble understanding each other but it is sometimes even harder to understand Qui-Gon when he actually says something. Cause ration is not what drives him.
Qui-Gon is such a complex character. He is undeniably good especially compared to other SW characters. Yet for all fandom's deifying he might be the most flawed Jedi we see on the franchise. (The ones that fell to the dark side not included.)
It is a shame wider fandom completely write off his flaws to the degree I can't even recognize the character when they talk about Jinn. Cause that Qui-Gon is so hard to feel empathy for.
When people constantly make statements like "He is The Wisest sw character." his hypocrisy stops being amusing. It doesn't end on screen or page instead often used to bash other characters.
An unbelievable analysis from Wookiepedia:
When Jinn saved the Gungan exile Jar Jar Binks, who in turn swore a life-debt to him, his compassionate nature was such that Jinn took the hapless Gungan under his wing, much to Kenobi's dismay. His empathy toward all life forms, including the most pitiful and unfortunate, was Jinn's greatest strength. Additionally, he remained understanding and patient with Queen Padmé Amidala. During the short time they knew each other, he never asked for her to do more than she was willing to.
You know out of the two, Qui-Gon was the one who insulted Jar Jar to his face. And he didn't took Jar Jar under his wing. They forced him to take them to a city where Jar Jar could have been punished for entering. Now it was the pragmatic thing to do. For all three's survival not for their own gain. Understandable. But compassion is just pushing it.
Also he never asked Padme to do more than she was willing to do?
Padmé : Are you sure about this? Trusting our fate to a boy we hardly know? The Queen will not approve.
Qui-Gon Jinn : The Queen does not need to know.
Padmé : Well, I don't approve.
And he is aware she is the queen, herself. Padme was nearly tearing out her because of this man in TPM.
What is weird, Jinn in his bewildering hypocrisy probably thinks he is being admirably compassionate with Jar Jar, highly understanding and patient with Padme. We clearly see he is not.
Out of universe he has been a force ghost for decades now but fandom is nowhere near acknowledging his flaws than he is.
And honestly SW doesn't have that many major morally complex characters. People like Maul, Palpatine, Anakin,Ventress don't think they are serving a higher purpose or oblivious to the evils they commit.
Emotionally complicated, yes. Going through moral dilemmas, no.
Three major characters come to mind who make huge mistakes, condone or commit atrocities while thinking they are in the right/with good intentions/for a greater cause. With varying degrees of culpability.
Qui-Gon. Padme. Dooku.
In that order.
Let these characters be interesting instead of demonizing nearly inhumanly selfless Jedi characters. (They make mistakes too but funnily enough they are still way better beings than most people on our planet.)
By the way I found the epitaph "Fascinating Failure" from the article here. Especially the last paragraphs make some interesting points. ⬇️

This post might seem harsh but that is expected since it focuses on Qui-Gon's flaws.
