Queer/Trans paranormal investigation show wants your eyeballs!
Hey witchy queers!
A friend of mine, and an overall amazing person, is making the first ever queer/trans-themed paranormal investigation show! It's already won some festival awards (!!), but they're trying to get more people aware of the project.
The first episode is free on Youtube, and it's pilot-length so it's basically a movie? Here's the trailer:
youtube
If that looks/sounds good, you can watch the whole thing right here.
There's also a bonus episode with Twin Peaks' Ray Wise! It's more like 45 min and very emotional by the end. Here's the trailer for that:
youtube
Aaand here's a link to the full bonus episode.
Please share with anyone you think might be interested! Also, if you wanna help fund episode 2, there's really cool perks starting at $5. The link to their Seed & Spark campaign is here. They're super close but coming up on the deadline:
Tumblr media
It also helps if you make a Seed & Spark account and follow the project, which is totally free.
Enjoy the show! And stay spooky!!

file : interesting objects (#1): ghost hunting devices !
[click me!]
the ovilus - the ovilus is a communication device invented in god knows when by bill chappel. the device used by professional and amateur/just-for-fun explorers and ghost hunters in paranormal investigations. the device works by detecting electromagnetic energy- which may appear in the form of, for example, voices that living ears can't detect- then assigning a number to it that corresponds with a word in the dictionary. spirits and other entities (ie: demons, poltergeists) use the ovilus to attempt conversations with the living people who are operating the device. some alternatives to the ovilus that operate similarly are the spirit box, the hexcom, and the polterscript.
the estes method - the estes method is a method of interworld communication used by some of the more daring explorers and ghost hunters. the method was created by karl pfeiffer during his investigation of the stanley hotel in estes park, colorado, and is now a widely popular method of communication that many people use. the method requires two or more people in order for the attempt(s) to work, and it involves one- sometimes two, as seen in some of sam and colby's videos- people putting on noise-cancelling headphones that are connected to a spirit box. the person(s) wearing the headphones are also blindfolded. the other member(s) of the group ask the spirits questions and attempt general conversations with the spirits in the room or area, and the spirits or entities may choose to or not to use the spirit box to speak into the headphones, sometimes in response to questions asked by the living side of the conversation, and the wearer(s) of the headphones and blindfold repeat every word they hear. the estes method is very effective, and many questions asked receive an answer, but sometimes the words they spirits say are random, and sometimes they're unsolicited tid bits of information corresponding to the spirit's death, their opinions, their goals, etc.
the séance method - the séance method is another common communication method used by explorers and paranormal investigators. this method is sort of similar to the estes method, but this one fortunately doesn't involve cutting off people's two most important senses. the seance method involves setting candles in a circle on a table or floor and lighting them, and it's not uncommon for people to put cups of water and relevant objects inside the circle and surround the circle of candles and/or sometimes the area directly around them with a line of salt as an attempt to keep potential poltergeists and malevolent spirits at bay of physical contact; most people don't want to be scratched and burned by demons posing as little girls with depressing death stories. the séance method has been used many times in historically famous attempts at conversation with spirits, demons, poltergeists, etc., and seems to have a lightly sporadic rate of failure versus success in comparison to the estes method, which almost always works, whether it's just the spirit box spewing shit or an actual spirit.
sources : a largely common source i'd like to give credit to for the information in this post is rhykar, my lovely professional ghost hunting boyfriend, fellow owner and creator and primary organization person of this account! ovilus information the estes method the seance method: rhykar (heh)
send an ask if you want more info, or if you've got more to share!

During paranormal month last year the incredible Jimmy Buffett passed away and all of us fans were sad that he his brilliant talent were gone. Then I began thinking about Jimmy Buffett and  The Estes Method. At first glance, these two things have nothing to do with each other, or do they?  Jimmy Buffett was a popular musician who filled the heads of millions and millions of boomers with his…

The one time I used the estes method, I heard breathing really deep through the headphones-
My reaction wasn't panic or anything, just literally said out loud- "Stop breathing in my ear, you're dead, you have no reason to be breathing at all."
So to conclude I think I'd either be the only survivor or the first to die in a ghost film-

My spouse is a hardboiled skeptic.
Former midtier-elite military, current high school economics teacher, lifelong agnostic atheist who acknowledges the probable existence of the unseen, but suffers, as do we all, from the post-juvenile self-defensive tittering judgment of anything inherently "other" or "weird" or "dumb." Absolutely cannot set aside - or unwilling to exert the effort required to actually set aside - said judgment long enough get past the outward dumbness of paranormal investigations in order to see what's actually being accomplished by the person in the blindfold and headphones. (Yes I am talking about you, Estes Method.)
Despite this, I managed to - through brute force and a completely deliberate ignoring of my extreme screaming discomfort - watch "The Unbinding" anyway. He wandered away and played Super Nintendo for a while, bored but nobly hiding his upturned nose for my sake and honestly isn't that all we can realistically expect of our spouses?
I'm gonna have to watch a second time because I was pretty distracted by having to do a very elaborate
"I'm not listening, I can't see you, lalalalalala all of this is fine, I am almost forty and i am not in any way a dumb stupid bad person with extremely bad taste in entertainment who will never be taken seriously, never amount to anything, and never have any friends because I am a dumb stupid bad person with dumb stupid bad taste in dumb stupid bad things, since obviously acceptance and belonging is contingent upon liking the correct things which I do not and never will which means I will be politely humored and tolerated for the rest of my life, what's with that i mean who even thinks that ell-oh-ell i am so comfortable with my decisions right now"
Busby Berkeley-style song and dance number around my trauma responses.
Nonetheless. My therapist will be proud of me when I tell her I've acheived this milestone, so I'm choosing to be proud of myself too.
Later, instead of continuing to ruminate and wallow and probably ruining what precious little remains of this weekend, I will instead make the awkward and unnecessary apology to my spouse aloud and - hopefully, with a little luck and some trust in the person I've cohabitated with for eleven years - permit myself the indulgence of communicating my discomfort for the sole purpose of allowing myself to be comforted.

Use with the Estes Method and Ganzfeld Experiment!   Meditation too! Instead of using a blindfold during the Estes Experiment, use the Delco Goggles.   Mike Delcoro & The War Party Paranormal Team, have been in the process of testing a new take on the Estes Method to possibly speak with Spirits with surprising results. First step to understanding the experiment is you need to understand the theories behind each part of the DELCO Experiment.

A Paranormal Night of Discovery at The Mount Without, Bristol
Read on to find out more about the fascinating history of The Mount Without, Bristol and what this has to do with Victorian Spiritualism and paranormal investigations. Does a reverend remain watching over this place even after death?
Earlier this year I was lucky enough to secure tickets to a paranormal night of discovery event being held in the atmospheric venue that is ‘The Mount Without’. This was a two-part event hosted by the marvellous Dr Kate Cherrell. The first part of the event was an introduction to Victorian Spiritualism introduced by Kate and the second part of the event was a paranormal investigation, co-hosted…
