hey
so
admin rhykar here
never thought I'd do this but
my parents house burned down in an electrical fire on may 6th, and they need some cash to get new clothes, pet supplies, food, and pay bills in their new place for the first few months.
commissions are welcome, heres the link to that post, and I also went outta my box and made a GoFundMe for the event.
i apologize for this out of character randomness from me, but they're the only blood family I have and they mean the world to me, even knowing how rough our relationship has been the past year. I would burn the world for them, and anything you can do to help me help out my kin will be greatly appreciated.

i genuinely dont get why rarity didnt become an alicorn. if we're talking solely about her magical power, she was kind of a prissy wuss throughout the first couple seasons, but even in season 1 she had her pretty powerful moments.
for example, take season 1 episode 8 - "look before you sleep".
in this episode, the ponyville pegasus ponies skipped a light rain a short time before the episode took place, so they had to schedule a massive thunderstorm to make up for the water the farms' crops missed. rarity and applejack were cleaning the town park and pulling tree limbs down that had potential to fall over and hurt somepony. the thunderstorm hit its peak and they got stuck at a sleepover with twilight, and applejack and rarity got into multiple arguments about neatness and practicality throughout the episode, until applejack ignored rarity's attention to detail and the top of a pine tree that was hit by lightning ended up in twilight's bedroom.
the failed sleepover ended with the two finally deciding to work together for a change, and rarity used transfiguration magic to turn the tree top into decorative figurines. she very clearly used a lot of magic to do so, because she did this at the beginning of the episode and only came out with two figurines. however, these two were fixed to the tree branch they were on, and rarity had also reattached the branch to the tree, which in itself requires a lot of magical power for a unicorn, as seen by twilight in later episodes up to season 3.
transfiguration magic isn't all that easy, even for twilight at first. it would logically take a lot of energy, not to mention changing the inherent shape of something. the first time rarity did this trick, she only ended up with 2 leaf figurines, but the second time at the end of the episode, she turned the entire top of a tree into these figurines, with no sign of the tree top left behind except for fallen leafy matter from when it flew into the bedroom and hit the floor in the first place.
and this time rarity came out with over 10 figurines, all separated onto stands made of wood from the tree.
and even before that, in season 1 episode 6 "boast busters," during the magic show with trixie lulamoon, she turned one of trixie's curtains into a gown with a saddle, all with transfiguration magic.
she did have a pretty well known animation error that made her an alicorn for a split second wayyy later into the series, but it wasn't canon for longer than that.
so how is rarity not canonically an alicorn?

and why the fuck do you know that?!
the series i guess
don't bury dead bodies in bare dirt. the nitrogen gas that is excreted when a human body decomposes is one of the things that helps plants grow- especially grass. it'll be really weird and spuspicious to police if someone tips them off about you and they find a random patch of grass in your otherwise wholly and entirely bare-brown-cock backyard. oh that hydrangea bush? that's not a hydrangea bush that's jeff
oranges are the same consistency as human flesh. if you ever feel the inconsolable need to stab someone, stab an orange.
bury them standing up. aerial searches typically look for disturbed ground up to 6 feet long.
a human uterus, when removed, is about the size of a fist and will bounce if you drop it on a linoleum floor. medical students have confirmed this with the sort of expression you'd expect from someone who’s seen a meatball defy god.
don't feed pigs meat of any kind, or they will become entirely 100% willing accomplices to murder. they'll even eat the bones... they just don't really like teeth, there aren't enough calories in human teeth.
human fat burns much longer than wood. medieval executioners and certain very criminal modern people have used human body fat to keep fires going.
you can also turn it into soap.
human teeth don't always burn off in fires. that's why forensic dentists even exist.
lye, aka sodium hydroxide, leaves behind gelatinous sludge if you don't get the solution 100% perfect. but it will dissolve human flesh if you need it.
your fingernails actually don't keep growing when you die. what actually happens is the skin shrinks back like burning paper, which makes it look like they're still growing.
the human body bloats from internal gas buildup 2 to 4 days after death. this causes corpses to groan, shift and sometimes sit up slightly.
speaking of sitting dead, cremation makes muscles contract.
blood isn't bright red when it pools after the body dies. it turns dark and gains the consistency of maple syrup, which causes "shadows" under the skin that really closely resemble bruises caused by domestic violence.
the smell of an actual, irl rotting body is so unique that forensic training often uses synthetic corpse stench, because the ACTUAL smell is traumatizing.
you can trace the time of someone's death based on insects. blowflies are usually on the scene first, and they lay eggs within minutes to hours of contact with the corpse. the life cycle of maggots gives very accurate postmortem intervals.
cinnamon, clove, and cayenne pepper. maggots and blowflies hate these things more than musk hates his daughter. she's a woman, get over it.
during the victorian era, it was common to take pictures of dead loved ones as if they were still alive. sometimes people painted their eyelids to seem like they were still open.
blood stains in wood and concrete don't go away for decades. sometimes centuries. even if you get bleach involved.
luminol makes blood glow blue under blacklight. and uv light.
people used to use human femur bones as clubs because they're really dense.
adipocere. corpse wax. it forms on bodies and sometimes the surrounding surfaces when your murder exploit decomposes in moist environments with low oxygen. and no, you cannot light adipocere. no, you cannot try it.
i will not be giving you the sources of this information.

file: interesting cases
the murder of ann heron
on august 3rd, 1990, the body of a woman was found in the living room of her home, the aeolian house dog training & boarding kennels building (darlington road, darlington dl2 1jy, uk).
the woman's name was ann heron, a 44-year-old mother and pet-care worker. her body was found around 6pm by the woman's husband, who called the police the second he saw her.
ann was last seen sunbathing in her garden at 3:30 in the afternoon the same day she died, which happened to be a particularly hot day. ann's husband, peter heron, came home from an unknown place to find ann lying dead in the living room, her throat slashed. there were no signs of forced entry into the house, nor any signs of robbery in the home. further, no signs of sexual assault were found on or inside of ann's body.
when peter returned home around 6pm, he first saw their dog still outside, and the front door wide open. he walked inside and saw ann lying in a pool of her own blood, they do believe ann knew her killer personally or otherwise, but police have no leads as to the personal identity of the killer. her husband described her as "the most placid and loveable person you could meet," and says he can't develop an inkling of a person who could have hated her enough to kill her.
two witnesses reported to investigators seeing a blue car, possibly a vauxhall astra or a leyland sherpa van, parked outside ann and peter's home around 4:45pm on august 3rd/. the driver of the car was described as a "suntanned man" with dark hair and in his early 30s. the police investigated these claims while the case was initially being investigated but found nothing, including no information found about a blue vauxhall or leyland car relating to ann's murder case. they did track thousands of cars with those descriptions, but nothing came of the reports.
one of the witnesses was a girl name liz lamb, who was 14 years old at the time, and she later featured in a documentary about ann heron's murder case, the mysterious murder of ann heron, which aired on channel 5 news in may of 2022. when asked if she saw anything, she said, "aged 14, I was interviewed by police as a potential witness in the Ann Heron murder case. on the day of the murder, i saw a blue car, driven by a man, leaving the murder victim’s house at speed.”
in 1994 someone wrote a letter to the northern echo, a local newspaper, claiming to be ann heron's killer, but the police found no leads based on the information found in the letter.
the durham police conducted what became their largest manhunt in history, involving thousands of interviews and man-hours logged. peter heron quickly became a high-interest suspect in his wife's murder case because at the time of her death, he was part of an active extramarital affair with another woman, as well as inconsistencies in his story and timeline. however, lack of DNA evidence to convict him led to his charges being dropped.
no specific person of interest has been found who drives a car matching the description of the blue car seen outside ann's house, and the last person who we know saw ann alive was someone she was friends with who saw her as they passed by her house on a bus.
however, ann's own husband, peter heron, drives a blue mercedes. when he was investigated he told police he had left a meeting where he worked at cleveland bridge at 4pm and drove back to his office through the village of croft on trees and middleton st. george. police immediately noticed that this wasn't the most direct route he could have taken, and days after the murder, the news came out that he had been having an affair with a 32-year-old woman for around 10 months by the time ann had been killed. two years after her death, he married a telephone woman named freda, who he had met on a work trip to scotland. peter has maintained his innocence in the case, telling the northern echo in 1995 that "i know there are people who still think i killed my wife. one day the murderer or whoever is protecting him will crack."
he also said, "no one can live with that on their conscience."
in 2005, new technology allowed the police to do further dna testing in ann heron's case. semen fluid was found in ann's throat, and it was quickly discovered to belong to peter heron. based on this information, he was charged with her murder. at the time he was 70 years old and was a widower for the second time, his third wife having died of cancer. he had relocated to wishaw, Lanarkshire, and was due to plead not guilty at a hearing. however, four months later the case against him was dropped again due to a lack of evidence and his family later described it as a "serious injustice."
ann's second son, michael, passed away in 2011, and her two older children, ralph jr and anne marie, have since made multiple emotional appeals for information regarding their mother's murder.
in 2020, private investigator jen jarvie proposed that a convicted murderer named michael benson, who had escaped prison in 1989, could be linked to ann's murder. benson had an extensive history of violent crimes and was known to drive a blue Ford car very similar to the descriptions given of the car seen speeding away from ann's house the afternoon she died in 1990. additionally, some letters claiming to be from "the killer," as they dubbed themself, were sent to police and ann's family, and michael benson's ex-wife later confirmed to police that the handwriting matched his. despite these obvious connections, durham constabulary investigated the alleged links and found that there was no evidence of michael benson being in the area at the time of the murder, and also stated they were "all but certain" the criminal was living abroad at the time of the murder.
ultimately, the case has been ruled a homicide. it's still open, and ann and peter's children are continuing to appeal for justice and closure in the case of their mother's murder. documentaries and media coverage have kept public interest burning, but no new evidence has been found to add to the case or find a potential killer. still, they hope a new lead might emerge to solve the mystery of ann heron's death.

PSA: world schizophrenia awareness day!
a detailed post about schizophrenia/schizoaffective disorders is expected to be accessible on may 24th, 2025, which is recognized as world schizophrenia awareness day. we are very interested in how this disorder works, as world knowledge of schizophrenia is, unfortunately, currently severely limited.
the post will likely be a small study post, cowritten by researchers rhykar and hayle, and based on updated information found around the internet, as well as a possible personal statement from someone who has schizophrenia!
if you'd like to give a statement/testimony, feel free to send an ask to this blog, or @lightning-wyvern . you will not be named in testimony unless you specify that you'd like your identity to be included! :)

RANDOM ARK TUTORIAL #1
taming troodon !
y'know those random structure sets in supply drops that build a fucking outhouse? yeah, build an outhouse without a roof!
trap the target pest- i mean- troodon- in the little cage and drop a tame or two in there small enough to fit!
2 to 3 high-level dodos works! you could also land a pelagornis, or a mid-to high-level raptor!
make sure all of the tames you sacrifice are on passive, or they'll defend themselves and kill the troodon!
keep feeding the troodon random tames until its taming bar hits 100%, and there you have it- a pet pest :3
notes:
it is possible to forcibly tame troodon on ark: ultimate mobile edition with the "ForceTame" command!
troodon are nocturnal dinosaurs, and taming/affinity rates are doubled wiehn taming troodon during night time!
taming and experience modifiers do not affect troodon, as taming them requires luring them into aggression towards your tamed animals!
although this is extra depressing, a baby spinosaurus can be damaged to below 20 health, and then used as bait in a pen or cage to lure the troodon into aggression and taming/affinity!
when taming troodon, rare flowers and pheromone darts can be used to force higher aggravation towards your chosen sacrificial tames!
lots of players suggest punching the troodon if it doesn't aggravate quickly, but do this carefully, especially during the night - troodon have up to double attack damage during the night!
if you prefer or are for any reason required to stay in the enclosure during the taming process, keep a riot shield equipped and in use to avoid getting hit/being affected by the troodon's torpidity attacks!
low-level diplodocus and ovis can also be good choices for sacrifices, as well as baby rexes or low-level force-tamed alpha raptors if you use force-tame hacks!

file : interesting theories (#1): the escape of discord !
(written by rhykar; edited by hayle because rhykar got sick XD)
ok so hear me out...
it was the cutie mark crusaders.
discord almost destroying equestria was completely and entirely their fault. they wouldn't have escaped the statue if they had just acted their age.
discord is a draconequus. this is a creature specific to the my little pony universe; a draconequus has the head of a goat topped by the antlers of a goat and a buck respectively. it also has the left hand of a griffin, the right of a lion, the body of a snake, the left foot of a dragon, and the right of a goat (goats seem to be ironically potent here).
discord is the god of chaos and disharmony; he can't naturally stand princess twilight's ocd organizational skills and the lack of difficulty that comes with that (most of the time). somewhere around 1,000-1,100 years before twilight was born, discord got ahold of equestria, and the two royal sisters celestia and luna used the elements of harmony to imprison him in stone.
about 1,200 years later (give or take), he made his first appearance in season 2, episode 1: the return of harmony. the beginning of the episode showed the cutie mark crusaders, apple bloom, scootaloo and sweetie bell, participating in an educational field trip with their class to the royal canterlot gardens, where many of the historical statues were held. one of these statues was discord's prison; the princesses had placed it there with the rest of the statues, hidden in plain sight.
the cutie mark crusaders were arguing over small, insignificant things such as words scootaloo didn't know the meaning of, and coincidentally, the meanings of certain aspects of discord's physical appearance. at one point they got into a particularly nasty fight over words scootaloo didn't know the meaning of, and the fight turned physical. they dogpiled on each other and started beating one another up in the shadow of discord's statue, and the disharmony between them generated just enough chaos magic to cause his heart to start beating again.
so...
it's their fault.
they're on the villain list.
