This IS HUGE for the world of online shopping—and for the ISG!
I hope that some of you remember yesterday's teaser post, hinting that the US Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, & Transportation had discussed and voted on a very important issue. That issue? The COOL Online Act, a bill that:
... requires products posted online from sellers in the US to display which country they were made in, much like products in US stores display the same 'made in' labeling. In other words, a legal requirement for resellers to admit that their products are mass-produced overseas!
Though it passed yesterday (details linked above), it still has to go through a few more legal steps before becoming law. The ISG and the preliminary results from our Marketplace Research Survey have made a tangible impact on the results of yesterday's decision, and we intend to keep our foot on the pedal:
We are working on a plan to organize the creative internet in a big way to fight to get this bill passed. If you want to be in on this plan, please head to the page we created on Action Network, and sign up.
Click through to the blog post above for important details!

If you have talked to me or seen any social media posts from me in the last year then you have heard of Artisans Cooperative. We started last year with the #EtsyStrike coming together because we knew there was a better way. In May of 2023 we started our Capital compaign; in 2 months we have gained 133 members, 300 email subscribers, and $33k. Our goal initially was 100 members, 800 email subscribers, and $25k but seeing how excited people were to join us we made some stretch goals AND WE ARE ALMOST THERE! We have 7 days left of our capital campaign, 7 days to get another 500 email subscribers, and another $17k.
Here's why you should join: first and foremost as a member you will receive dividends once the co-op is making money, second members help make decisions within the co-op (1 member = 1 vote), third as a member you will have lower commission fees (founding members: 6.5%, members, members: 8%, non-members: 9.5%) for the first two years. There are NO listing fees, NO monthly fee: just the membership buy-in and the commission rate.
In order to make this goal I need your help! If you can't join, donate, if you can't donate then share this post.

I joined @indiesellersguild on discord yesterday, and registered with them today. Very interested in what they're working on.

If y'all remember the Etsy strike in April, this came from that. You know how the big criticism with that strike was the lack of planning and organization? Well... the people who set that off are now going all in on planning and organizing.
Told you I'd be keeping an eye on the situation~

Disappointed that it had to come to this, but unless Etsy makes some major changes in the way they treat the people paying their bills, I will not be using the site anymore.
Alternative webshop recommendations are gladly received. You can always get in touch with me by email, Instagram DM, or tumblr message.
Cheers.

I am in the works of bringing out some Queen emote and King emotes, I also want to expand my creative LBGT line and many more. If you use Twitch and need some panels or emotes, I do a big variation of them which constantly updates every day and would appreciate the support :) I opened my store in June, it's been very exciting and found a new love <3

Small business owners, and supporters, facing up to recent events have been wondering: Can't we just build our own Etsy alternative?
Kristi has written us a blog post answering that question and elaborating on why the ISG is going in another direction to satisfy the goal behind the ask.
The answer on our end ultimately lies in our Market Accreditation Program, a project you can find out more about in the above article. Take the accompanying survey to help us create the best possible future for online artisans and small business owners!
As of April 21st, an audio version of the post can be found at the top of the page.

Launches March 5th! / Pre-Launch Available
Another closer look of the charms, this time with the original trilogy.
Each batch of characters will have one character that has a different back-side design. The rest of the charms will be the same image on the back, just reversed.
I'm still trying to figure out shipping, but as of now, I plan to open pre-orders on Etsy for UK/EU people or anyone else after the campaign ends.

finally got my new store up and running!! (concordandcliches.bigcartel.com!)
it's mostly a variety of enamel pins, but there's an acrylic charm and some wooden pins in the mix, too! hopefully there'll be some stickers in the near future 👀

Just read through this. My frustration with Etsy just gets more and more intense. It's all capitalist greed and exploitation. >:c

I’m exchanging angry emails with Etsy that just recently stopped charging Canadian taxes like, ya know, any basic selling platform working in Canada, and told me to adjust my prices myself and “consult a finance expert". But they removed all means to adjust the taxes by province from the seller platform. So they’re basically asking me to charge taxes to everybody (even non canadians because I can’t charge differently by country) AND they’ll get to collect their (heavier and heavier) fees on it.
This is such bullshit. I’m trying to find a workaround but it looks like I won’t be able to sell in... my own country, because they broke the means to collect taxes effectively, that they had working perfectly just a few days ago. And I can’t just cut Canada from my shipping options since I’m selling from there.
I haven’t seen much talk about this over here on Tumblr, but it’s been quite the thing with every local seller I follow on FB. It’s the continuation of the mass migration~~~

Made some unhinged keychains! These are meant to look like little vinyl records, featuring Max Rebo, Sy Snootles, and Figrin D’an! Each keychain also has a faux leather tassel…for some extra jizz.
Shop is here. Love y’all!
