Eh, Jaehyun, Jaehyun, didn't even tap Taeyong on the shoulder in greeting, went right away to sit by the owner (happy he made it, and his spot was saved for him).

Jaehyun is awkward socially and a classic introvert. He showed Tae attention later with a warm verbal remark.

Jaehyun had been anticipating telling Doyoung he watched the teaser during his whole trip to the restaurant, lol. That smile.

Notice how Jungwoo is consumed with food. He doesn't really care for either Jae or Do.

I suppose Yuta came to the resque because Jaehyun does get to watch/hear things in advance.

24:34 - Watch Jae's left hand, there was intent to touch Do's leg (he didn't).

There was a cut between Johnny's words and Doyoung asking Tae about MarkHyuk (choprticks in Do's hand became a spoon). So it's unclear how much time passed. Probably a few minutes. Even so, yes, Do let the topic die, didn't respond to Jae's teasing.

I'll just comment that despite Jaehyun filming, JaeDo saw each other often in that period (middle of April). Do shown no signs of missing Jae, and Jae's need to tease came from a discussion in the recent past (of the programme, what Do will do there).

And yes, you are right, Bunny. Usually members are so busy themselves, they do not watch content with others. Let alone teasers, let alone on the day of release. This moment is a good telltale of JaeDo, how close they are, how Jaehyun needs to know everything, how there is ongoing joke about Do acting for the camera.

Nice to see Jaehyun was so content. He was pleases he made it in time, but is seems he enjoyed the work as well, he was shining.

Director’s commentary for I Put a Spell on You (Accidentally But If Anyone Asks it Was On Purpose) ✨

Oh firstly, let me just say Witch April au, my beloved, because not only was talking about it in the apritello server so much fun, Sheep's wonderful design leaves me in awe every single time I see it

But I Put a Spell on You is my favorite and least favorite thing I've written for apritello akdhdk don't get me wrong; it's really good, I've fallen in love with the concept, and I love the work I put into it (like 13k words?? Come on now) but I wrote it in like 2-4 days and it feels so rushed to me. And even with that, when I sit down to add stuff to it, I can never find a place to lol. It's so finished yet not finished enough.

I think in my authors note, I mentioned how I couldn't put everything I wanted in it because of my deadline, but there's a lot of lore about Witchtown and April herself that I didn't get to explore either. Also, as you may know, I'm a slow burn girlie, and I wanted to put a lot more instances of Donnie and April's slowly relationship, and they actually aren't even officially dating when the fic ends lol.

Tbh tho, if I hadn't been in the middle of writing SnoCon when I came up with the idea and convinced myself that it was Halloween specific fic, it might have become it's own series of fics, because I still have so much I wanna add to it. And who's to say I don't do something else with the concept this upcoming Halloween

On another note, in July of 2019, there is a family who wakes up one morning and discovers that their brother is gone once again. They wait for his return. (He never comes home.)

Hello Anon! I have a couple things to say to this, 1) I’m currently tipsy cos my friends and I were hanging out and I’m finally allowed alcohol after being sober for the last 3 years. So if I seen all over the place or don’t make sense, that why.

2) I’m still VERY active in the CM fandom, but I realize that it might not look like that outwardly since my activity has been taking place in smaller spaces/private DMs with people.

3) My Twitter rn is currently only for Hannibal, but I have been considering making a second one that’s Criminal Minds only. I just don’t know if I’ll be able to jump back and forth between them all the time without mixing them up, lol!

4) I’m not 100% sure what you mean about me not being active in the server? If you mean today (Sunday, May 22nd—even tho it’s the 23rd now whoops), then I wasn’t on Discord at all cos I was busy with real life things. Summer is on the way, quarantine is “over,” and I’m not locked in my home 24/7 anymore. I’m officially finished with my chemo; the benign tumor that was in my brain has shrunk, so I can finally get a job again (I haven’t worked a “real job” since January 2021), and I can hang out with my friends and family again. (I still wear masks when appropriate, and I’m fully vaccinated, but we’re “allowed” to be normal again, you know?).

But I can promise I’ve been in the server every single day, even if only once or twice to check in and make sure everything’s fine. I have a life outside of Discord and Tumblr, too.

Plus I’ve had a new puppy since the beginning of April, and he takes up the majority of my time while I’m training and caring for him. We’re actually about to get him properly trained to be a therapy dog, since my own therapist (and everyone else who meets him) says he would be perfect for it with his calm and friendly personality!

And, also, Twitter is fun. I’ve made new friends, found a fun new community among the Hannibal fandom, and I greatly enjoy how I can check my Twitter feed for only a couple min between my errands and still feel like I’m apart of the “conversations” there. Meanwhile here on tumblr, I need to set aside a whole hour or so for what I do (and I only use tumblr on desktop, for reasons I’ve explained before, unless I’m just checking my notifs).

I’m sorry that you feel I’ve left the fandom, or I’m inactive, but I also think I’m allowed to “take a break” from fandom things if I need to. While the CM fandom was getting a lot of hate anons, harassers, stalkers, and was dealing with A LOT of drama, the Hannibal fandom welcomed me with open arms and the friends I’ve made helped me feel safe while I was still sick and healing.

I have a whole timetable setup with plans for fun Criminal Minds based things I want to do this summer (including celebrations for milestones, watch parties, etc), but I just need to *get* to that point.

Hyperfixations come and go over time. I can’t really control if my fixation for Criminal Minds ends up fading, but I can promise that for now, it’s still going strong! I’m just ALSO having fun with the Hannibal fandom (think of it as my new shiny toy, I guess, lol! Criminal Minds is my favorite and always will be, but it’s exciting to be apart of something new).

Ohhh reesker trying time sneak into the others room to see each other before their wedding.

Lmao okay I love this I’m sorry it got stuck in my drafts for so long anon 😔

So neither of them really wanted to have the whole “can’t see each other before the ceremony thing”

Mainly because the whole experience was out of their comfort zone and they are each other’s safety nets so the idea of being separated all morning was undesirable

Like honestly if Ava had it her way she would have taken Sarah to city hall and got married there, just an officiant and them

But it was important to their friends at the hospital

And even though Sarah didn’t have any family there (her mum just sent a check and said she “couldn’t come” 🥴) and Ava’s family either didn’t support the marriage or couldn’t make it in from South Africa

They still had their hospital family and that’s what mattered

So the big flashy wedding was planned and Ava had to admit she was a bit more excited than she expected

She was going to marry the love of her life after all 😌💕

So Maggie and April were very adamant that they couldn’t see each other before the wedding

And that was immediately met by protests

Especially since they were kinda sharing a bridal party? Like there wasn’t any separate bridesmaids/whatever because Ava literally only has connor as a friend because they just had the same circle of friends

But they ended up just having Maggie stay with Sarah and April stay with Ava while the other members of the party wandered between rooms while the brides were getting ready

And Ava spent the whole time she was getting her makeup done complaining to Connor about how it wasn’t fair that she couldn’t see her wife even for a minute

Connor just replied “she isn’t your wife yet, there’s still time for her to run”

Which earned him a deserved smack 😌

Ava was like visibly nervous though, nonstop talking about literally everything which was very out of character for her

She was clearly out of her element and just trying to distract herself

But she really needed Sarah

Because seeing Sarah even for a little bit would make her feel so much better

And she tried to tell April that but the nurse was not having it 😔

Meanwhile Sarah was silent in her room

What a peaceful chapter this will be and not chaotic at all. Nothing could possibly happen to ruin it. Nope. Just a nice peace full chapter about the Todoroki siblings plus one mysterious visitor getting the house ready for their Mother to come home.

(I will continue to refer to the Doctor as Ujiko because that's who is. Shiga Maruta is an accomplished man who is respected by the community. Ujiko is a monster undeserving of respect. So Ujiko it is.)

This also means that he is not related to Tsubasa (the winged kid/ Noumu from Izu and Kacchan's childhood). I'm not sure that makes me feel any better about Tsubasa's fate tho.

The cops got some undercover agents at the hospital and they discovered that there is a secret room in the basement that can only be accessed through tHE FUCKING MORGUE AND ONLY UJIKO CAN GET IN. Because of course the place where they keep the dead bodies is where Ujiko makes his tortured souls.

Tsukauchi is telling everyone that their destiny is to get rid of the PLF and that they are gonna make it a reality.

Uhhh. Why are the babies on the front line? That's not safe.

Kaminari looks completely unconvinced. He knows from experience that it's not gonna go down like that.

This is suppose to be a surprise attack Kami. If you yell like that they might hear you.

Ok but the kids look really badass in this shot. Especially Kiri and Jirou. Mineta looks nervous which is to be expected considering they're about to start a mission that could potentially get them all killed and they only just finished their first year.

Well technically Fat Gum you guys didn't do shit. Hawks was the one who figured that out.

Speaking of Best Bird Boy, Endeavour walks over to Tsukauchi, who looks like he aged 10 yrs since we last saw him, and is all like "It was you-know-who who told you about all this, right? Where he at now?" to which Tsukauchi responded with "I don't know who this you-know-who person is but if I did know I can't tell you about."

Enji gets all butthurt by this and leaves the room. Then he start thinking about how he prepared the child soldiers for war just like Hawks asked and proceeds to start the raid.

We are then transported to some random city where all the heroes are gone because of the raid except for a very confused Slid-'n-Go (or however the hell you spell his name) who is apparently the only hero left in the city.

Operation Evacuate the city is a go. I feel like Nejire should have been on the front lines with Sun Eater because of how powerful her quirk is. Tho I guess if they were to get attacked having her here to protect civilians is a good idea too. Shouldn't put all your heavy hitters in the same place.

Mandalay using her Telepathy to tell everyone to get the fuck out is smart. That way they won't alert the bad guys.

Since when has Tsukauchi been a captain? Or am I just stupid and he's always been one? Also isn't that guy blowing his cover rn?

So Shiggy's metamorphosis isn't completed yet. That's good. That means the heroes don't have to worry about fighting him. Unless he somehow unplugs himself early once he finds out the heroes are here. That would be not good.

I just realised something completely unrelated to this chapter. It's late March. UA' s new school year starts in April. That means the Big Three have officially completed school. They are no longer students. What's gonna happen to Mirio? Did Eri learn enough about her quirk to get Mirio his quirk back? So many questions, so little answers.

Takuto Maruki’s Cursed Timeline

[NOTE: Everything in this post is mostly comprised of juicedup14′s Fan Translations, because they are honestly the most reliable ones I have access to. If anyone wants to kindly make a rebuttal regarding events on the timeline or correct events on the time/other corrections not related to the timeline, feel free to do so].

Looking back at the Original Vanilla Persona 5, and comparing it to Royal story wise, something tells me that Atlus creating Takuto Maruki into existence sort of accidentally muck up the timeline. It’s not help by the fact Atlus is still refusing to accept 2016 as the year Persona 5 takes place and use 201X despite calendars lining up.

Because we don’t have a Birthday OR Birth Year, for the purpose of this post, Takuto is a Pisces born between Feb 20, 1988 (because Futaba’s BD is Feb 19) and March 20, 1988 (Excluding March 3 because that is Yuka Ayase from Persona 1′s BD). 1988 makes Takuto 28 in 2016, and 29 when Royal ends. I don’t think Atlus wants him young as 21 or 22, but I don’t think Atlus wants him older than 30, and details of his past makes me think he isn’t 23, 24 or 25. Also for purpose of this post, P5 will be given the year 2016, because 201X is actually going to be mention several times and I don’t want confusion in the timeline.

In regards to the timeline, we must talk about the first elephant, Wakaba Isshiki and her involvement in cognitive (p)science.

Original Vanilla Persona 5 shows that Wakaba is in the field of cognitive (p)science research, and her research has ties to the government. Wakaba’s involvement within the cognitive (p)science field made her super important (seemingly almost leading pioneer important) to where Shido thought that to steal Wakaba’s research (after she refused to turn it to him), he needed to order a hit on her. All of this is the same in Royal. No retcons at all.

With the addition of Takuto’s character who is involve in the same field, you think someone could have named dropped a connection, right? Wrong! There is no connection (that I can find) linking Wakaba and Takuto, and Takuto when meets Futaba and seeing Wakaba’s research, he seems to have no idea who Wakaba is at all.

In fact, all of Takuto’s past (which will be discussed under the cut) gives implication cognition (p)science research is new. Not new-new, but new enough that people are still apparently trying to be the first to make a real name for themselves in the field independently(as much as it can) from the government, and Takuto was a top contender on the list. An explanation for the first elephant is simple: Wakaba got into the field of cognitive (p)science when it was new-new and was able to snag government connections. Takuto meanwhile, got into cognitive (p)science when people were trying make a real name for themselves independently while in university and stuck with uni for a good while.

So far, so good. Elephant two and all the heavy major spoilers is under the cut.

Elephant Two of the cursed timeline is the breakup with Rumi and when Takuto lost his future lab because his research wasn’t ‘valid’ enough, as the two events happen in close succession with one another. Rumi was Takuto’s college/uni girlfriend (the wording makes me think they started dating during uni and stay together ever since; they’re college-uni sweethearts). Based off the the diaries entries, Takuto and Rumi were still engaged to one another between 2/2 of 201X and 4/9 of 201X. 2/2 entry states that 2/3 (aka, ‘tomorrow’) is also Rumi’s Birthday. 4/9 entry is written in the Spring, with Rumi in the hospital shock and traumatize over the lost of her parents and Takuto trying to still wrap his own trauma and shock over Rumi’s parents death and Rumi herself.

By the time of Takuto’s conversation with Rumi at the hospital -clearly happening in late spring given Takuto’s third diary entry is in early summer, and because polo shirt are worn in warm temperature of spring and summer- Takuto finished his first thesis, aka the research pre-cognition overwrite (aka, Takuto’s power). In this same conversation, Takuto awakens his Persona abilities in the real world (it’s not a full awakening tho), but seems to not use it again after Rumi.

At least not until Takuto lost his future lab.

Based off the second flashback with Takuto and Shibusawa (aka, Takuto’s friend; juicedup14 translated the friend’s name), Takuto’s research came to a complete halt, and the future lab Takuto is planning on having is also halted as well. In the previous flashback with Rumi, Takuto mentions someone took an interest. By 6/3 entry, Takuto is now rewriting his thesis and doing his second round of research. With this rewrite and powers, Takuto seems to realize ‘oh shit cognitive (p)science is dangerous better make sure it doesn’t cause harm’.

By the flashback with Yoshizawa meeting Takuto in 2016 (aka, before the start of the game) the man has that Shaggy’s style beard, meaning enough time past after everything in 201X, as well with the fact Takuto had enough time to establish a practice because realistically, Yoshizawa’s parents must have gotten Takuto’s name as a referral or pick from a list of professional for their daughter to at least see. To keep Takuto’s past stay as close as possible to P5/Royal (since Rumi still stings a sore spot in Takuto’s heart even in 2016), Takuto’s worst year has to happen in 2014. And with 2014 in mind, timeline isn’t cursed when looking at it as a whole.

(Pre) 2/2, 2014: Possibly 25 or 26 year old Takuto has terrible headaches like Rita Repulsa, and Takuto pops the question to Rumi. Rumi says yes.

2/2, 2014: 26 year old Takuto writes in his diary about meeting Rumi’s parents (on her birthday). Headaches are still terrible.

Possibly 2/3, 2014: Rumi’s Birthday, and Takuto meets Rumi’s parents. There’s a chance the burglary happens on Rumi’s birthday, so for the purpose of this post, let’s assume it’s the case. Rumi loses her parents and lands in the hospital due to the shock of the trauma.

4/9, 2014: Another diary entry. 27 year old Takuto’s headaches get worse, as well has the pain in his heart due to the condition of Rumi.

Post 4/9, 2014 (Probably April): Takuto gains powers of cognition overwrite; he heals Rumi at the cost of retconning himself out of Rumi’s life.

Post 4/9 2014 (Probably late April or most likely May; see Elephant Three and Four): Takuto’s research and future lab are stopped. Takuto gets drunk over it with Shibusawa. This is one of two periods where someone *coughshidocough* stole Takuto’s original research.

6/3, 2014: Takuto is still early on in round two of his research. This is the second of two periods where someone*coughshidocough* stole Takuto’s original research

Post 6/3, 2014 but Pre-March 2016: 26 or 27 year old Takuto decides to stop being a research and decides becomes a therapist/counselor after talking to Shibusawa.

Pre-March 2016: 26 or 27 year old Takuto is now a therapist with a practice

March 2016: 27 or 28 year old Takuto see Yoshizawa and creates Ka-sumire (yeah he just changed Sumire’s cognition of herself and it’s not a fusion of the two, but technically it is in a sense?)

12/24, 2016: Should Joker max Takuto’s Co-op/Confidant, Takuto finishes his second research paper/thesis, shows it to his his old professor, and says his suspicion who stole the original research, and awakens his Persona when reality and Mementos fuse together thanks to Yaldy. Takuto becomes God (like). If we take Takuto’s word, Goro is dead and brings him back to life

1/1, 2017: Third Semester officially start.

So far, still good. And now we get to the Elephant Three, Four, and Five: Masayoshi Shido, Goro Akechi, and Wakaba Isshiki’s death. That’s right; Wakaba is back at it again, though it’s not her fault. All three are connection to one another so they’re all in a little heard of elephants. We ought to blame Shido deciding to order a hit on Wakaba with his supernatural hitman but not trying to kill Takuto when getting a chance.

On 12/24, Takuto is convince it’s Shido who stole the original research all those years ago (with Takuto mistaken that his research was used for psychotic breakdowns, this help narrow the timeline) -which I do think it's legit given the professor response and Shido canonically stole Wakaba’s research- resulting in Takuto to start over from scratch. It’s odd to think Shido allow Takuto to live when Shido has a supernatural hitman at his beck in call...right? To re-summarize a post I don’t want to link because I’m only going to be taking about 2014, Goro Akechi’s Timeline of 2014 is this:

2014, between Goro’s last year of middle school and the beginning of his first year of high school, 15 year old Goro (he won’t be 16 until June 2) awakens to his Persona and Powers. There are no serious rampages (aka psychotic breakdowns) and obviously no mental shutdowns. Goro experiment with generic shadows in the Metaverse to understand WTF is going on with him.

2014, May in Goro’s 1st year. Goro decides to show himself to Shido and his powers (Goro clearly didn’t show up as a train hitman; just someone who knows he has powers to make life go swimmingly well). As Goro and Shido knew each other for 2.5 years, the midpoint for a year anniversary in May is November, which fits the long ass exposition scene. The psychotic breakdown we know in P5 also get there start here.

2014, August in Goro’s 1st year. Wakaba dies in her car accident. As Goro’s BD is in June, and given what Shadow!Shido says to the PT, Shido introduced the idea of mental shutdown to Goro post June, and Shadow!Wakaba is most likely sixteen year old Goro’s first human Shadow he had to kill.

Given Takuto’s personal timeline, while we don’t have the exact dates for when the lab and future research was canned and when Shido stole Takuto’s original research, the only ball park estimate is Late April or May, with May best corresponding to Goro’s starting his plan of revenge and deciding to work for Shido. The idea of a 15 year old somehow having access to a university, stealing a grown’s man thesis paper without getting caught, and giving it to Shido as well as bringing up supernatural powers in rapid succession is humorous, but obviously wrong.

The idea Takuto’s first research thesis was stolen right before Goro approached Shido is the only placement that makes sense. We have Takuto who is basically on the fine line of being a nobody and somebody. Takuto was gonna join the big leagues. We have Shido who has his goals of taking over Japan, as well as the drive. Shido is still a regular corrupt politician, and has no way of say, killing someone by special means and get away with it at of this moment.

Canonically, Shido’s interested in cognitive (p)science boils down to ‘I can use this for my goal of becoming prime minister’. Given his role in the government, he must had heard Wakaba’s name and research, but had no real means on talking to her about it since Shido apparently only spoken to Wakaba once or twice to get her to hand over the cognitive (p)science research. The closest he can get to Wakaba’s research is this coffee driven twenty-something year old who looks like he never seen a comb or brush in his life (I doubt Takuto is this, but Shido probably think so) thesis paper that Shido takes a shine to it. A really good shine. Like, ‘Hm...I’m gonna take it and hope there’s physical proof to it in the future and ruin this man’s whole career while I’m at it’ shine.

Just has Shido read a few paragraphs, Goro shows up and offers his powers. Even though Shido hasn’t read the full paper, Goro is the physical proof that somehow support Takuto’s paper. Shido being Shido, still wants Wakaba’s research because it’s been in the making for much longer than Takuto’s. With new knowledge how the other world works due to Goro causing rampages of psychotic breakdowns, Shido throw aside Takuto’s research and order the hit he couldn’t do on Takuto onto Wakaba. And you think that Shido would have taken another chance at Takuto with Goro, but he didn’t.

Why? Takuto is no longer in the field of cognitive (p)science by this point because now he’s either a therapist/counselor or on the path of being a therapist/counselor. With a ruin research career and having to switch job, Shido probably did the right move from his POV to not add Takuto as another needed casualty. Because Shido in a sense, spared Takuto’s life a second time around, it also answers a question I found in Third Semester:

If Shido stole Takuto’s research, why does Goro have no idea who Takuto is when they properly met in Third Semester (remember: Goro has a question mark symbol when Takuto is reveal to be the Palace Owner, meaning Goro is confuse that this random guy is something Joker and Ka-sumire know, and Goro has to research Takuto’s past to explain to Joker)? And the answer is Goro truly has no idea who Takuto Maruki is! By the time Goro introduced himself to Shido, Shido found the man irrelevant and no longer important to bring up to his supernatural hitman as a target because Shido can get the true diamond in his eyes: Wakaba Isshiki’s research.

This would also put Takuto’s assumption of the psychotic breakdowns and how Shido introduced mental shutdowns to Goro into a new light. Psychotic Breakdowns is canonically Loki’s special power Goro can us on others to make them go wild and destructive and go on rampages. Mental Shutdown is pretty much killing the Shadow and seeing whatever will happen next. The two are not the same thing, despite what the original Vanilla Localization says by lumping the two together; it’s a mistake on the localization part. In fact, I’m a bit convince there’s a chance Takuto fell into the same mistake as well...

Okay so this is probably gonna take me the entirety of today to write out and cover everyone hahaa but imma do it cause yall deserve the MOST love. 💜💜

So this year has been pretty rough. I finished my first year of college and started my next. School has kicked my butt and I'm not even gonna talk about this summer and all the heart ache I felt being a MultiStan. But that's officially behind and I pray and hope going into this next year it will be the best year yet! For me and all those I love.

Speaking of loved ones I gotta start with my Bunny. @spicyjhoe you are literally my bestest most wonderful internet friend. You are a rainbow I look forward to in rainy days and my number one supporter. Fangirling with you and talking to you and phone calls and presents and everything has just absolutely blown me away this year. Ya know, its technically been a year since I tried first talking to you hahha (but friendship didnt start till April 23 and that very random RM post hahaha). I'm so thankful for you and although this might not be the year we see each other, I know you'll always be there and I hope you know I'll always be here and one day we will finally hug irl and I cannot wait (oh no I'm crying I'm okay i promise I just love you)

you’re gonna look at these and, within 2.5 seconds, say “wow jords the self-projection is strong tn”

or more so “wow jords we really see the dynamics that u yearn for and yet cannot find so u project them onto fictional characters who u look up to in a way u can’t quite understand”

post-writing notes: this got way longer than i expected (the jords ohsweetflips story), so this is going under the cut, but enjoy my huge mama backstory headcanons!!!

first things first, i hc mama as a lesbian, bc i am a lesbian, and i feel very attached to mama, so i hc her as a lesbian (but also i believe that anyone can hc her to be anything that they damn well please)

and, forgive me, i don’t know shit abt west virginian geography, but i think she grew up in a town like aubrey’s? like i know we didn’t get a lot of description of aubrey’s younger life outside her home, but i kinda see mama as having this “old money” type homelife

and bc i, jords ohsweetflips, wish i had a group of lesbian friends so that i could’ve had some guidance in my teen years, i hc that, in her town, she found her way into the small yet secure lesbian “scene” that was just a couple girls around her age (i see her as 15 at this time, with others ranging 15-18) along with a couple who were, like, 19/20

and tbh, just the vibe i get from mama and how she seems much more inclined towards found family than blood relatives, i don’t think she had the nicest folks so, when she came out, that was it, you know?

and tbh i completely see mama (well, madeline at this point) as someone who is very like “i don’t need help, i can do things on my own,” even as a young teen, so i think for, like, a week or two, she did the whole “on her own” things

but bc her friends were absolute angels, and also found out that she had been essentially homeless, two of the girls who are 19 and 20 and have an apartment are like “fuck no, you’re staying with us”

and madeline is at first like “no, really, i’m fine” but the thought of an actually loving home is too tempting to ignore

so from the ages of 15 to 18, she lives with her friends!!! she was fairly good at art at this point so she was able to get some in to the local galleries and shops and make some money off of it, and then when she was around 17, her friends were able to get her a job bussing at the bar they worked in

she also liked to whittle a lot!!! she made a lot of ducks

she was 18 when she decided to move out, and that’s when she heard of kepler. or, more so, she heard of it from another one of her friends who dubbed it as “a place fit for you, mads”

so she managed to save up enough money for an apartment and she moved out of her hometown and absolutely the friends she lived with cried their eyes out when they were helping her move in and tbh even madeline got a bit teary eyed bc they were like family, you know?

and so basically, from the ages of 18-24, she lived in kepler and got her bearings and this was when she started to get really into wood carving!!! she was able to get some pieces out there and get some recognition and, by her mid20s, she was actually making decent money, or at least enough to not be living paycheck to paycheck

in this phase of living in kepler, i think she was in a very “people knew her but she didn’t know them that well” just bc i don’t see her as the type of person to be a “social butterfly”? i think she mostly, tho, became friendly with the man who ran kepler’s local coffee shop, and the wives who owned the little dipper back before it was the hornet’s nest. she’s also def met leo and thacker, but only in passing, mostly. i think, once she got closer to her late 20s/early 30s, she would have heard of duck and juno but, in her being 18-24, they were probably still kids/young teenagers.

WAIT I CAN’T FORGET 1980S MAMA AESTHETIC: whole lot of jackets. she did a lot of thrift shopping so she has so many huge jackets. lot of denim. and leather. work boots. flannel. patches. are you picking up on the self projection yet.

and then, in november of 1988, when she was 24, the gate went up. she encountered her first abomination by accident. she had been out in the woods, just trekking back to her apartment and deciding to take the scenic route, when all of a sudden.... one of the smaller trees started moving? and she was like “well that’s not what trees do” and then she saw that the tree had a jagged mouth dripping with sap and branches acting like long, clawed hands, and she was like “well that ain’t no normal tree”

i don’t have my Big Brave Madeline “Mama” Cobb Origin Battle Story yet but she definitely just chopped the shit out of the tree and it managed to work

i think it would be Very Funny if, very shortly after that, her first sylph was barclay. like, i have a feeling that age works a bit different for sylphs, and honestly i have no clue where they would get the disguises from? maybe heathcliff? but the thought of madeline running into Literal Bigfoot and barclay, maybe like 20yo in sylph age, being like “WAIT DON’T KILL ME” bc this young woman already looks ready for leather is very entertaining

and that’s when mama learns abt the sylphs, and how they’re not abominations, and barclay shows her the gate

and also yes barclay absolutely stays in her apartment except he is So Hidden bc imagine the chaos of Literal Bigfoot being in her apartment! hysterical!

but, soon, mama crosses over into sylvain and figures out Everything that has gone on and knows abt the crystal shattering and the wars and she realizes that there have been sylphs exiled to earth and she’s like “well that ain’t gonna fly”

so she starts the pineguard and, for that first year, it’s mostly just her? and, at that point, it’s harder to locate sylphs, so she only has barclay and one or two others staying with her and it’s cramped but they’re safe so she’s happy

she meets thacker around... april 1989, i think? i know it was spring. so he helps out, and then they recruit another guy, mike (canonically mentioned in the water arc), and a couple others, and, suddenly, the pineguard is turning into an actual thing

and then, one of the ski lodges up on topside closes, now leaving a completely empty inn just... taking up space...... and it’s only a half mile from the gate........... and she has been making a decent amount of money from her sculptures

before the end of 1989, amnesty lodge is set up and running and, all of a sudden, it’s like she has another real home again. she loves the sylphs she meets and they can be safe with her!!

thacker absolutely has a bunch of “home videos” where, really, he’s just messing around with madeline. it’s almost like a “madeline cobb nature documentary” as she finishes up the lodge and treks through the woods. there’s also some of barclay and moira, and other pineguard members, and other sylphs that show up. he also has his journals and pictures and other books and, at one point, the cellar looks like thacker’s library

also the ballad of bigfoot is absolutely canonical and, after stephanie & griffin & C.M. leave the lodge, thacker has never seen madeline go off like she did on barclay that night. barclay still has some residual fear for hearing mama (who’s a big woman but he is Big Foot so he is definitely just Big) scream up at him “I WILL PUT YOU BACK IN THE WOODS WHERE I FOUND YOU, DON’T YOU TEST ME, BARCLAY”

even tho the two of them don’t talk abt it much, and might not even realize it that early on (picturing like late 20s/early 30s), thacker and mama really are best friends and, tbh, every sylph can see it in the way they bicker yet unconditionally care for each other

madeline almost kicked thacker out of the pineguard when she first found out what he put in his gorp

dani showed up in 2009 and, at the age of 12, she was the youngest sylph amnesty lodge had by a fucking landslide, and that made madeline so angry yet so sad bc this child had been exiled from her home and that was just a thing that could happen

(madeline never got along too well with woodbridge but, after that, knowing that he is the one in charge of the exiles, she could never even be civil with him)

she was immediately protective of dani and was ready to really step in as a parental figure bc she wasn’t abt to let this young girl be without guidance

and she gave dani handmedowns and took her shopping and would make sure that she felt safe and comfortable bc, really, she was the only sylph in the lodge who wasn’t an adult. and, fortunately, barclay was basically an older brother to her and moira looked out for her and i think dani coming into the lodge was what really gave everyone a very big reality check bc, like. she’s a kid

(is it obvious that i’m a bit attached to mama and dani)

and so it should come as no shock that, within a year of dani being in amnesty lodge, madeline became “mama”

and then, in 2011, jake, age 16, showed up, and by then mama was like “alright time to adopt him”

but also, real talk, mama looks out for all her sylphs so much, she’d lay down her life for any of them

when thacker leaves in 2013, she’s at first okay, doing just fine. he promised that he would come back, and she has faith in him. and then months pass. and then a year. and then two. and, all of a sudden, it’s the spring of 2016 and kepler expeditions is officially shut down and mama realizes just how much she misses her best friend.

and, not to mention, the waning of the pineguard.

by the time it gets to the summer of 2018, it’s just her and barclay, the both of them hoping things stay the same, but hope hasn’t gotten them too far

and then they have a fire magician, and a forest ranger with a talking sword, and ned fucking chicane

and now we have reached canon!!! thank u for coming to my ted talk!!!!

also tho, post-finale during the big reunion, thacker is just talking with aubrey and all of a sudden is like “holy shit, you really are like her, aren’t you?” and aubrey is just like “???” and thacker says, “don’t go tellin’ her, because she’ll kick my ass, but talkin’ to you is just like talkin’ to maddie when she was your age” and aubrey is a bit :’)

Hello! Um, idk how to exactly explain what I want to say, but you seem like a really kind person so I think you will understand. So, I am a 14 year-old-girl that has been a Christian for as long as I rememember. The environment I live is quite religious as well. I didn't have a problem with it for, as you see, I was a kid and didn't think too much of religion in general. ~Um, apparently I reached the world limit so please wait to write the rest in an other ask XD *sorry* ~~

~~um, still me XD~~ But since last May or April, I became interested in the ancient greek culture. I actually DO live in Greece, so it was pretty easy to visit many of the gods' temples and other ancient places. I fell in love with them and, I should not lie, I felt like home around them. You have no idea, how much I wanted to touch the exhibits or walk into the temples. Tho, I didn't think too much of it. ~~ ugh, still have a lot to say. Sorry sorry!! :/ ~~

*again me*While I was on Naxos, the sacred island of Dionysus, I visited the temples of Demeter, Apollo and Dionysus. In the temple of Dionysus, I LOVED the aura around me. Even if it was the most plain in comparison to the other two, I had liked it more. Short after, Dionysus' name was popping on my head all the time, alongside Ariadne. Now, I understood the reason I liked Ariadne; I saw a lot of myself in her. But Dionysus? *oof I AM SORRY, i need an other one*

*I don't exactly remember how, but suddenly for some reason, he started feel more "real". To be short, judging from his followers' post on Tumblr, he was "calling me". "Who me?" I thought. I was not a witch. Nor a pagan. Why? And most importantly why me? You see, I was never the girl who partied a lot, the social, extroverted, confident girl. I was always the shy, introverted, sensitive and insecure girl who would much rather stay at home on Saturday night. *ok, AGAIN i am sorry ;-;*

*There was a time that my intuition told me he was present, in some way I did not understand, in my room. I felt he was talking inside my head. He was gentle I have to say, but I was terrified. TERRIFIED. I had read all the stories about his "madness", and while they seemed cool, being REAL had me spooked. I told him in my head to get out and I almost shakily said that I would never be able to work with him, for the reasons I said. I felt I was not worthy enough for someone like him. *oof, again*

*The last thing I heard him saying was "But you do have a flame of madness. And it is ok to be shy". But you see, those things clashed with my religious beliefs and I called him a demon. I didn't know what to do. I felt so young for all of this. Days after, I had to persuade myself that it was not real. I think that he was trying to reach me more slowly but, again, I was terrified. However, I could not refuse that everytime I thoughg of him I felt more confident and that my anxiety was dying. **

*To finish, even I had tried to sweep it off, even if I never had any other episodes, I kind of felt that some gods' like as Dionysus, Apollo and maybe Aphrodite were watching over me (in the good way). Today, I scrolled through your blog, and I read all the asks you had answered to people sharing simiral experiences and you saying "it is ok to feel scared". Something in your tone made me believe you. The gods didn't feel so scary suddenly. And more real.

There is no need to be afraid but I understand why you are nervous. The gods are reaching out to you and it's a new experience.

From what I've read, Greece seems to be going through a spiritual transition. We're talking about a place where having "Greek Orthodox" as a religion labeled on your I.D was mandatory until 2001: (LINK)

I also noticed that the separation of church and state has been a very aggressive issue and fought in Greece for the last 10 years. Just a couple of years ago the Hellenic Polytheist religion dubbed Hellenismos was officially recognized by Greece in 2017: (LINK)

Needless to say, things are happening in Greece (and all across Europe, the West and the world.)

This spiritual turmoil is intense. Your feelings are valid.

You are loved and the gods understand.

The reason why it took me so long to reply to this ask was because Apollo wanted me to tread lightly on how I would reply given that you live in Greece and are 14.

I have been told that Greece is a spiritually charged place. You can feel the gods there, but it's not a safe place to be out and about as a Hellenic Polytheist: (LINK)

But there's hope! More and more Greeks are beginning to worship the gods (especially younger Greeks like you): (LINK)

Because you posted a lot of information, I'm going to quote you and reply to that just so I can be sure to really answer any questions that could be bothering you or things you could be wondering about (I apologize if it gets very literal but I want to make sure to give you as much information as possible so you can make a more informed decision):

Greece is a very spiritual place and the gods still live and visit their own temples because even though the majority of Greece is now Christian, I'm told they still have a very special place in the Greeks' heart and culture.

The gods know about the religious politics that no longer worship them in a religious setting but they stay with their Greek people through stories and customs.

My classical studies teacher says that although the majority of Greeks no longer worship the gods, they still value them and are defensive of them. She went to the Theater of Epidaurus by Asclepios' Temple. In the theater there is a special section traditionally reserved for the gods and seen as a kind of altar to them. When she was there, one of the actors stepped on it and got booed off of it by the Greek viewers who were deeply offended.

These reactions warm my heart because you can tell that even if they are no longer viewed as a worshipping option, they still care about the gods.

I sense the gods also go to their temples to hangout with, not only the locals, but curious tourists, Mythology fans, history buffs and Hellenic polytheist visitors.

A lot of pagans who worship them go to Greece on a pilgrimage to visit their gods (like me and my wife who will be visiting Athens this coming January.)

I sense they have been watching you and as much as you wanted to touch the exhibits and walk in their temples, they wanted to further connect with you.

You are very important to them and feel like you are home because you are, you are connecting with gods who are older than Christianity. Gods who have been around for so long and have been worshipped by your ancestors. Ancestral connections can be very strong.

I feel like Naxos is sacred to him, so it makes sense for him to be more present. A lot of Apollo followers who have visited Greece say they can feel Apollo the most in Delos.

You said it yourself: "Now, I understood the reason I liked Ariadne; I saw a lot of myself in her" sometimes the gods like us because we remind them of those they love. For example, I know Aphrodite first began to love me because I reminded her of a tiny version of Ares. I was aggressive and when it came to fight or flight, I always chose to fight.

Sometimes the gods connect with us because we need them and they are trying to help us become a better version of ourselves. When I first met Aphrodite, you could mop the floor with my self esteem. Now, I am better about loving myself and teaching others to love themselves too.

Sometimes there's a previous connection. When I first met Ares he told me my ancestors knew him as Mars. My real last name is Roman and it literally translates to "Child of Mars." There is a lot of Roman and some ancient Greek in my ancestry (it's not necessary to have Greek in your ancestry to worship the gods but your ancestry can be the source of your connection).

Ask Dionysus directly and give him time to respond. You may be surprised with what he tells you.

The gods are unique in the sense that they are portrayed as fictional characters because they are in timeless legends and myths, and so beloved that they have been readapted countless times like wheat that has gone through so many processing procedures, that it no longer looks like wheat.

It's easy to forget that these are gods that were once worshipped by Nations, empires and can be found in the Bible as the "false idols" of Kings who tried to get rid of Christ or oppress Jewish people.

The gods became nameless beings in cultural ceremonies you no longer understand but still do because they are now apart of your heritage, for example: in my culture we celebrate day of the Dead which was originally an Aztec tradition that didn't venerate the Dead but worshipped the queen of the underworld. Our own version of Persephone. The Spanish tried to erase her and put a Catholic spin when they couldn't get rid of the tradition and it worked but those who work with La Santa Muerte now, recognize it as her holiday because they know it originally was: (LINK)

So it's not that the gods were once fake but you are now beginning to recognize them in your own culture and traditions.

Those are Godphone moments. Feeling the gods, sensing them with your energy. Hearing them talk in your head. Those are all the methods I use to hear the gods. I sense the energy shift. He was definitely present. And he was definitely talking.

The gods always know how to best approach their new or potential followers. Apollo is very gentle when he interacts with my wife because he knows they react best when he's gentle. He's very stern with me because he knows I work best under pressure.

The part about him having you spooked because of his "madness" reminds me of when I was 12 and I learned that my "imaginary friend" was actually the "blood thirsty" god of war, Ares. Him being real had me spooked. Even though he had been teaching me how to fight and survive since I was 5, I called him a demon and told him I didn't want to work with him because of this one dimensional idea I had read about him versus his actual personality as an amazing father and protector. He's playful and very lovable.

The myths can help us with gods but they are written by flawed humans who don't understand the complex nature of the gods. Everything you've learned about Dionysus is 4% of what survived history. And a lot of that 4% has been tainted and rewritten by the Romans and Christian monks trying to demonize the gods or make them look bad.

A lot of Apollo myths will have you believe he is a monster who likes to chase women and smite unfortunate beings who look at him but his actual followers know he's nothing like this. To me, he's cool and collected, loves reason and philosophy. The best way to learn about a god is by researching their information, epithets, followers and working with them.

"Not worthy enough" is a problematic feeling a lot of followers have. I see this a lot amongst potential Aphrodite followers who are confused as to why the goddess of beauty would want to work with them when they feel they look ugly. The gods know what they are doing and they know you are worth so much more than you realize.

He would! Ahhhhhhhhhhhh I love Dionysus!!! He's such an inspiring god! And he's right. There is something about you he loves and it is 100% okay to be shy.

He understands you were scared when you called him that. He knows because a lot of gods are portrayed as demons in the Bible. He knows you were scared and if you ever feel like contacting him and working with him, know he is available and will gladly do so.

I called Ares a demon when I was 12 and didn't talk to him for 15+ years. When I finally did, he immediately forgave me, said I was little and ask was forgiven because I was speaking out of fear and fear is confusion. You have every right to go about ignoring the gods and continuing your family's religion but if you change your mind, Dionysus and the gods will be there.

Awww he knew you were scared so he was giving you time and reaching out to you occasionally.

Dionysus is AMAZING when it comes to fighting anxiety. In ancient Greece he helped people (especially women) overcome societal rules and follow him. Just like how he causes madness,he also helps others heal from it and since anxiety can be a type of madness caused by fear, he is definitely helping. And that may be why he wanted to work with you.

They are.

Apollo has been helping me answer this ask because he knows you are nervous and wants to let you know that whatever you choose it's okay. Even if you silently honer the gods in cultural settings with traditional events, they are and will continue to be with you.

They love you.

January: In January we got the reputation stadium tour movie, at the time of making the calendar Taylor may not have known exactly what date it would come out (it’s always hard to predict movie deadlines) tho she knew it’d be some time in January

March: ah March the time of the Elle magazines. This month most likely had the stamp at the top because their were numerous days where big things were happening. And since if none of them falled directly on the 13th, she might not wanted to have strayed from using her lucky number

*June: based on the other two dates it appears that something in June is happening that either is not finished yet and she didn’t know the exact date it would be OR there are multiple days we are getting stuff. My guess? On Ellen she did just tell us the new music video is coming soonish they still have to finish it

2. Stamps on the 13th

April 13th: Well I think everyone and their mom knows this twas the day the countdown started for the release of ME!

May 13th: oh man well this was a rough day. So my guesses for May 13th were one of two. Either Taylor was suppose to go on Ellen that day but the schedule got a little messed up (it happens to the best of us). This event would be stamp worthy because it was her first sit down interview in years. My other guess is something secret coulda happened, as in those getting secret sessions may have gotten their invites

*July 13th: idk about you guys but SO SO much is pointing to an album release on this day. From the “take me home” caption a year ago, to the 7 briefcases and 13 clouds. I personally believe the two disc and “living in winter I am your summer” theory. If you haven’t heard them it’s basically Taylor is releasing a two disc album, one in summer and one in winter. I say first disc will be out July 13th....we we get to the second in a little

*August 13th: lol I have no idea what’s happening this day if I’m being honest. There’s a chance too this could be the album release and July 13th is actually some secret session like event (a month in advance like she loves). Either way this day will be a surprise

*October 3rd (on September page) : I really do think this could be the day of the second disc (or even full album if not two disc) release. The day 10/3 not only adds up to 13 but if subtract the two it equals 7 as well. The stamp on this page is also the same as the stamp Taylor used to cover up the number 7 on the tour book. Plus why would she put it on the September calendar if she didn’t want us to notice.

*December 13th: ah yes the queens birthday which deserves a whole ass stamp on its own. Do i think something will happen this day? Most likely yes.....my guess is that the tour dates will officially be released. If Taylor does release the album in early October that gives her all of October and November to kinda “ride the wave” of it, it also gives her time to finish planning the tour. Plus what better a birthday gift than to kill an entire fandom

Sooo these are just my wild guesses right now, any day with the little * by it just means it hasn’t happened yet, but I do plan to add updates when we pass some more dates!! I’d love to hear what you guys think some of these dates could mean as well!!

Refect on 2018

I used to feel kinda cliche when people post about what they achieved throughout the year in this particular day. Yet today I think its necessary to spend some time reflecting. Life has been more and more busy these becoming-an-adult days, so its important to sit back, breathe, and reflect (now Im sounding like someone who’s into yoga and eats kale but what the hell haha Im not against it, Im just sux at yoga but gosh its exhausting yet rewarding after each session).

Its far from easy to relive what you did each month last year but what the hell, Ive got nothing but time today. Plus it would make me feel better I bet.

So here goes.

.jan - worked in KPMG and came to HCMC in the third week of the month. Different city different vibe. HCM Art Museum and GEM Center were pretty. And ofc it felt good to see the always-reason for every of your HCMC trips ever. Did shoot some photo for an Hanoi Airbnb. Its always nice to dress up and take photos some time, just to feel different and a bit prettier. Its a bit sad when you feel like you cant live wo lipstick now urgh.

.feb - Tet, family bonding, picture time and you know, the food and stuff. Traditional stuffs.

.mar - urgh its work again damn it sux coming back from a long ass holiday. And lemme take a wild guess, this year is no different.

.april - dueces to KPMG (yea, those past months I forgot to mention all the studying to prepare fo the entrance test), hello Vung Tau and HCMC. Important people are far so Ive got to/ had to travel. Liked Vung Tau ambience (ideal to spend a day or two as wkend getaway), always had a thing for HCMC Independence Palace and historical places in general. Ive got to meet the loved ones. Valuable time spent.

.may - birthday month and it was damn FUNN. Checked to one of the dream destinations, Disneyland. Hong Kong was so pur-fect. Lady M dessert killed mi. The pasta in Chessecake factory was the best ever. Dimsum. Urgh. Why did all this have to be so goood. All the night walks, the hidden bars, Victoria peak. I love yew Hong Kong, such expensive bish tho. The only regret was that I missed the horse race. But maybe we would come back one day who knows. I love my travel mate so. Boo gave me some flower for my birthday in Hanoi, such a cheesy move hihi. Had birthday dinner with my family at some famous Hanoi dimsum place. Now that I write this down, I just realise again how perfect my 23 birthday was. This is officially my favourite month in 2018. And I started my new job too.

.june - tried the city tour bus with the fam. The real biological one. Went camping (not exactly, more like some barbercue) with KPMG batch. Went to HCMC again with Mom to see my Dude, again. Came to his office, took cute photos.

.july - skin is fcked and work.

.august - work and skin is still fcked.

.sep - Boo came to Hanoi. Then I came to Nghe An fo some training. Made some new friends.

.oct - accidentally was forced to join the drama club, the team won A prize.

.nov - Boo’ birthday. First time saw our football team played on the field. Did we win Boo did not rmb lol. Boo no dare to sing to me publicly at Cong (like, go-to-the-stage kind of singing) hahaaha.

.dec - first biz trip. Some important case in the court. Field trip was one hell of an experience. And its even better that the case was in HCMC yet its so much shorter than expected. Got some moments with The Dude. Love The Dude.

.I finish 2018 and celebrate 2019 NYE in Ninh Binh, which was better than expected.

Man this is one pretty long ass stuff (to type on the cell). Thanks to iP library, cos this beauty rmbs shiet really.

.some NY resolutions, not in any order:

read more/ work harder/ smile more/ go to the gym more often/ travel more places/ be more loving and open (to the people that deserve it, who are genuinely care bout you)/ be less angry/ be less self doubting/ love the self more/ eat healthier/ be prettier/ and ofc, love The Dude more.
