Yknow something that’s funny is, I’m a nonbinary lesbian, and I’m also one of those nonbinary people who very much prefer it when strangers who see me IRL can’t tell from first glance what I am or could be, or what I “should” be, and my breasts had been a source of significant physical distress and dysphoria, but once I got them removed? I actually became much less bothered by getting she/her’d.

I’m still nonbinary! And lean even more Butch than I did before - but I no longer feel nearly the amount of emotional baggage about my alignment with femininity or how mine, or lack thereof, is perceived.

Sometimes, I even roll with it and lie, if I think it’s a worthwhile troll. On two distinct occasions this past year, an old person who was clearly getting excited for an opportunity to be transphobic, was quick to come up to me, completely unprompted, and go “hehe, you know, you’re still a girl, no matter what you do to your body" and I was like “...yes? never said i wasn’t? what’s up” and then I got to see their brain short circuit before my very eye, as someone who wasn’t going to respect my lack of gender, is now having to mentally process the idea of a cis woman willingly removing her tits just because she genuinely likes it better that way. Like they can’t comprehend it. It’s so funny.

So 1) I really dislike big absolute proclamations and 2) I know information literacy and fact checking aren't like, sexy,

but morally I believe you owe it to others to check for misinformation, especially about politics and harm to marginalized people, and not just for some abstract principle of honesty or accuracy. I've seen people reblog misrepresented laws (which are still bad and need to be fought, don't get me wrong) with tags and replies like "another reason to kill myself."

Things can feel hopeless enough without bringing outright lies and doomsaying into the mix.

If you fear monger on purpose, even for a good cause, or to "fire people up," there's potential blood on your hands.
