You know, when you think about it Apple kinda feels like a metaphor for someone who was raised very religious and was taught that anyone who didn’t follow traditions exactly was going to hell.

Because she doesn’t do the things she does for herself necessarily, (don’t get me wrong it probably helps that she benefits quite a bit from it.) she does it because she’s terrified for her friends.

This becomes even more apparent in the books when we see how the headmaster puts Apple in charge of Raven, and criticizes her for not doing enough to stop her. Similarly, a large part of a lot of religions is going to convert others, with the idea of saving them from themselves. Apple firmly believes that if she doesn’t change Ravens mind, then she is responsible for whatever happens to her.

Did anyone else make this connection? Idk maybe I’m just Rambling

So i’m gonna be so honest rn and i hope i don’t get pitchforks at me but i have always viewed rapple as a one sided ship and my reasons are mainly because you can bring up exceptions apple constantly makes when it comes down to raven, she constantly broke free from her selfish motivations in the books because of how deep her care for raven ran and even felt guilty with what she was doing at some point, i believe her love was just little at this moment and being overshadowed by her own selfish thought of security but as time passes i can see she genuinely shows her love for raven more not to mention how clingy she is, Personally physical touch does not sway me but it’s how apple Acts around raven that makes her touches special, Now down to raven i never saw that she made exceptions if anything she seemed more interested in being apples friend and doesn’t show much interest in apples conversations unless they are dealing with a situation compared to how interested she is to her other friends? Considering raven also rooms with apple and apple bugging her way into ravens life constantly also, while raven was practically begging for apple to get out of her hair.

So i really always found them to be one sided, Apple had shown many affection towards raven, But for Raven compare her conversations with apple to her other friends she barely shows any interest? I think she just wants apple as a friend mainly and apple is genuinely in love with her i honestly wish mattel went to this route because Apple falling in love with the same girl she was practically ready to sell off and the girl who is her future enemy? Not to mention apple wanting raven to be the one to wake her even tho raven doesn’t feel the same way? I just feel like Sad lesbian apple would be nice with getting over her feelings maybe trying to avoid them and at some point she talks with Raven about it and mainly focuses on forgetting about it or idk?.

This is all pretty much my view/opinion pls don’t burn me🫶🏽

i love to praise ever after high for being one of the first doll lines to even tease a sapphic relationship on screen (i only say one of the first as roxxi and nevra from bratz were not confirmed until 2020), but the reality is ever after high was such a product of its time because even then, with an entire on screen kiss… they completely pushed aside any sort of development between darling and apple in favor of daring and it really sucks.

i LOVE daring, and i absolutely adore darabella. i love his arc in epic winter and i think it’s such perfect character development for him. what i don’t like, however, is that darling was such an important character in dragon games. like, the entire ending of dragon games was due to her character arc and her discovering her destiny, and… they barely show her on screen during epic winter. she gets maybe ten seconds of screentime in the background of some shots, and her and apple never even speak.

mattel had the best opportunity to give darling and apple some much needed discovery and closure during epic winter, especially after daring went through his own character arc and found out that he was destined to be with rosabella. i think it was in part that so many parents probably complained about the kiss (which is also why the “it was cpr” or “it was a friendship kiss” theories are so popular) so they pushed darling off screen in order to make parents happy, but it still drives me absolutely bonkers.

in general, i actually sincerely hate how mattel treated the charming children. it was obvious who their favorite was (daring) and i can’t fault them for that because i really do enjoy him and his arc, but dexter and darling were both routinely pushed aside and it drives me insane even all these years later.

The thing about testosterone being a controlled substance means that acess to it for hrt is restricted. While it makes access a significant issue for many people and an easy and effective way to prevent trans men and mascs from transitioning (as we've seen terfs campaign for and succeed at doing in Britain) it also means that is very easy for health care professionals to be able to take it away from trans men/mascs arbitrarily. This is most aborant in cases where trans men/mascs are forced to detransition to gain access to abortions after being raped. However, the first sign of an issues tangentially related to hormones a gp, without any training in trans people or hormones, can and will stop a person's testosterone. Apart from how stressful it is to know that for the rest of your life you'll be dependent on the goodwill of a random person, this has measurable negative consequences for a trans person subjected too it.

Going off t fucking sucks at the best of time, but being forced off t will most likely result in depression and worsening mental health for a trans man/masc, who are already one of the most likely groups to attempt suicide. It can also put a trans person at risk if they suddenly start being visibly trans again, especially if they're closeted in, say, a work place environment. Trans people, including trans men, are already one of the most targeted groups of harassment and violence and sexual assalt and forcibly reducing or stopping t can out people and risk their safety. And a gp won't see this or care about this, or attempt to treat a trans man/masc first or ask for their opinion or situation.

Ultimately, testosterone is seen as entirely optional and so the first resort when something goes wrong it to take it away, when it should be considered the last resort, and is considered the last resort for cis men. And as long as testosterone continues to be a controlled substance it will remain like this.

People who believe the "Apple and Raven switched at birth" theory need better narrative skills actually.

I've talked about this before, but it literally makes no sense character or plot wise. It suggests that Raven is only good because she's Snow White's daughter, ignoring that her dad is the GOOD King and just muddies the message of the show in general.

Yes, you can make AUs and "what if" situations to explore the characters, but treating the theory as canon and as something the writers intended makes no sense.

I see a lot of Apple defenders acting like Apple is a complete saint and basically making her look dumb. (Specially on tiktok) So, today I'm going to write an essay about why and how Apple isn't as innocent as she looks, and that she IS in fact selfish and manipulative.

And before yall come and clock me as an Apple hater, Apple is one of my favorite characters besides Raven.

OK, lets start.

First thing, let's talk about cartoon-Apple. If were talking about the show, we can say that Apple was mainly completely oblivious and ignorant to people around her, she genuinely didn't understand why Raven would want not to sign the book. In the show we can see how Apple is constantly manipulated by the adults around her as well, which doesn't help. We see in her relationship with her mom that Snow White is a fucking narcissist, (How that woman was called the fairest I have no idea.) And let's not forget Milton's constant pressure on her and the whole Evil Queen fiasco (which i might talk about in a moment.)

For starters, I can understand why Apple would be scared and terrified because of Raven not signing, until then everyone believed if you don't sign = you die, so Apple wanting Raven to sign at the beginning of the show is fair, she's scared, and its also understandable her reaction to the whole Huntlynn relationship thing.

But Apple is still ignorant to those around her destiny-wise, mainly her friends. When Briar told her she didn't want to sleep for a 100 years because all her friends and family would die, Apple simply said "we all have a part to play" like??? I don't think that's how you comfort your friend.

As for Raven, right at the beginning of the show, Apple basically went behind her back to switch Madeline with herself to be Raven's roommate, decorated her room and went through her things without Raven's consent again btw, and on her OWN words it was because, "I need her for my happily ever after."

Raven's and Apple's relationship is toxic as fuck, from both sides. Apple is constantly pressuring Raven to follow her destiny, and Raven most times just seems very annoyed at Apple, which is fair, and overall just doesn't take her very seriously (Mainly at the beginning of the show). And let's not forget when Apple told her "We all have happily ever afters, you don't." Which means she KNOWS to some extent what Raven's destiny looks like, and she doesn't care. At all. She didn't care not until Way Too Wonderland-Dragon Games.

In Way Too Wonderland, we finally saw some improvement from Apple's character, with her finally realizing Raven's side of the story and taking initiative to destroy the storybook of legends. BUT THEN SHE THREW ALL THAT ONTO THE WELL IN DRAGON GAMES! (Which those two movies were mainly poor writing.) Like??? So easily, just like that. She freed the Evil Queen (with a bit of manipulation from the EQ's side), and after all that she just tried to run away and let the EQ just room free??? Hello?? And during that entire movie she just acted like a minion to the EQ, PUTTING EVERYONE'S LIVES IN DANGER, purposely hurting darling- until Raven slapped her with some brutal honesty at the end when Apple told her the truth, everything else happened and Raven forgave her in the end.(I still think Raven forgave Apple too easily.)

If we're talking book-wise, Apple is MUCH WORSE. Most of the things she did, she did it by her own will and she doesn't regret it. She says that she would MAKE Raven sign if she refuses, and she shows she would go to great lengths to make sure of that. She is way more manipulative, and selfish.

She SPIED on Raven as well to make sure she wouldn't plan on anything, which she also doesn't regret.

Apple was manipulated, yes, but she isn't innocent, and least of all stupid.

Now Raven isn't that innocent either, she is a very sarcastic person and most times she's just plain mean (When she bad mouths Lizzie's mom in way too wonderland for example.)

Cartoon-Raven is also crazy, during legacy day girly literally GAMBLED on everyone's lives for the sake of her own happily ever after. Until then, like i said, everyone believed don't sign = die. Ans yet Raven still took that risk just because she didn't like her destiny.

Hypothetically, if what Milton said its true and the book wasn't fake:

Raven would disappear, therefore the whole Snow White story would as well, including Apple. Darling, who's Apple's princess charming as well as the White knight, would disappear as well. If Darling disappears, the wonderland characters would as well. Hunter would disappear, and that includes people from the red riding hood story too since he's part of both as well.

So yeah, Raven isn't that innocent either. In the end, mostly everyone in the show is pretty morally grey and I like that.

okay i'm a day late but HELLOOO?? NEW EAH SONG IN 2024? WHAT THE HEX

now there's A LOT to consider with this sudden jumpscareish reveal, so here's a bit of a rant:

• lots of people seem to think "Can't Get Me Down" is AI and as someone that's listened to A LOT of AI covers for a project, it's not unlikely. the glitchy robotic vocals dont make the song easy to defend. maybe theres just A LOT of filters and voice changers, who knows. or maybe its purposefully trying to sound robotic?? like a punkified, rockish taylor swift song meets futuristic pop? dunno, it's fun to think of theories though!!

• there's a big chance that this is simply an old song that's being brought back from the dead after being scrapped back when the show was still running and i think that really might be the case. question is: why bring it back now?

• with the still ongoing trademarks and unscrapped eah projects sitting out there, there's a huge chance that mattel still hasn't completely given up on eah. i've heard of the still officially "in production" movie before and previously came to a conclusion that the studio has either forgotten to scrap it officially or is keeping it as "just-in-case" sort of material. now that there's a crumb of new content out there, this does make me more hopeful for the future of the project. not sure they're going to pick it up, though.

• there's a theory out there that the new song is meant to be a test - to see the reactions of the fandom and previous fans nostalgic of the series (plus maybe some new fans) out there and test if bringing EAH back now would be beneficial for the company. now, whether that's true or not, they CERTAINLY got a reaction. just waiting for a tiktok to go viral or a big doll creator mentioning it in a video now🤞🤞

• now, as i've mentioned, i do think this is a song from a webisode or part of movie that got scrapped. going further, this may just be a way for mattel to gain some sudden attention and create speculations. i'm honestly not sure what they're meaning to do further. i'd love to say they're going to pick up and continue the series, but that's most probably not the case. if eah does get picked up, we're most probably getting a rewrite, a reboot or simply new movie with changed concept that introduces the changes made to the world. in either case, we can hope for major plotlines, characters and relationships continued, maybe even filling some plotholes and answers to questions that were left unanswered (DARLING AND APPLE PLOT CONTINUED PLEASE)

• i don't want to raise anyone's hopes too much. as exciting this is and as enthusiastic i may be for POSSIBLY NEW EAH CONTENT (AAAAAAA), a rational side of my brain's got another theory. the release of the song is most likely not an accident or leak, since it would probably be already deleted, but this might just be a way for mattel to grab some newly-found attention, feed us a crumb and leave us hungry. or it is an accident that's gained too much attention to be suddenly deleted? who. knows. all we can really do know is speculate, wait and hope.

madeline xylophone hatter is such an insanely intriguing and funny character like??

she's the comic relief. she's the fan favorite. she's a main character. she's raven's best friend. she's probably the reason raven didnt go batshit crazy evil. she's the most amazing person ever and will always offer you tea. she has a mouse named earl grey. she has a magic hat. she speaks in riddlish and doesnt make sense to many people. she's incredibly brave and she loves her dad. she can break the laws of reality unless told something's impossible. she can hear and interact with their world's narrator.

and it's just in the sense that maddie is the 'funny' one. the one who goofs around and says strange things that everyone else brushes aside because 'oh that's just maddie', when she's actually one of the smartest characters that there are and the one who arguably knows most about their world and the situation they're in??

maddie casually interacts with the narrator; the person who is narrating their lives, like it's nothing?? she can walk through walls and eat rocks if not told otherwise?? she is incredibly wise and offers excellent advice??

and maddie was the closest to figuring out the fact that they aren't real. imagine raven reacting to that. imagine apple. they would never be able to handle the absolute batshit crazy amount of knowledge that maddie technically has.

maddie knows so much and it's such a brilliant thing that she's not utilizing the plot to her own benefit, because she honestly very well could, but she doesnt because maddie is not someone who is there to change the system like raven, and she is not someone like apple or briar or ashlynn, in the sense that 'oh things must change and i must be the one to do that'.

she leaves that for others such as raven to actually pursue and by god will she actively support raven like hell for it. what she will want to know, however, is what exactly is happening.

this is not to say that maddie is not important or that she's someone who takes a backseat to others. she's quite the opposite really. but i find it interesting just how maddie's influence works.

maddie is not the 'main character' per se. she is not the protagonist of this story and i dont think she'd like an integral part of the; without which it might fall apart, but she is not the one actively doing the main character things and furthering the plot. if anything really, maddie technically does keep things running behind the scenes?? and her ability to communicate with the narrator is no small thing to brush over too.

Still in shock that they took all the songs down BECAUSE??? IT JUST LEAVES US WITH MORE QUESTIONS THAN ANSWERS???

I KNOW?? Like okay here’s everything weird about the situation because it’s only 7 am I feel like I need lay it all out to process this. So, timeline time I guess! (I combined several images into one a few times bc of Tumblr’s 10 image per post limit but I hope everything still makes sense)

Starting January 5, the Ever After High Spotify (and Apple Music I guess although I was only checking the Spotify) began posting songs as singles. The first was called “Can’t Get Me Down” which had a screenshot of Raven from the episode “Rebel’s Got Talent” as the album cover.

Following that, two weeks later, on January 19, we get a song called “Unbreakable” which also has a screenshot of Raven from the show, from the “The Tale of Legacy Day” episode. At this point the songs are gaining attraction because what the heck, Ever After High content in 2024? Is it coming back?

People are also pointing out that Mattel renewed their licenses for some Ever After High stuff, but also companies do that all the time and I think they did it specifically for their webisodes so that they couldn’t be reposted/reuploaded to YouTube or whatever by a party that wasn’t them. It makes sense (Also I can’t actually verify which if any things they did actually renew because all I heard was people claiming that I never saw any proof)

Also at this point, both songs have given Allison Bloom composing credit, which fans thought made sense since Allison Bloom was also a composer on Ever After High content before

ONE week after “Unbreakable”, instead of two like last time, on January 26, we get the third song, Destiny, with a screenshot of promo art for the Epic Winter storyline of Briar, Crystal, Ashlynn, and Rosabella. Once again, composing credit to Allison Bloom. People are so confused, lots of people are reaching out to Mattel’s social media trying to make sense of it all. Also this song in particular had the trademark misspelled as “Ever Aftert High” which could be the reason for something happening later

Actually, before Destiny was released, someone on Reddit apparently got in contact with Bloom and asked if she had any insight as to what was up with the songs, and Bloom said, “I honestly don't know because I am not currently working on the project. Your note was the first I had heard of it. Wish I had more to tell you!” which led people to suspect Mattel was making AI generated songs but using Bloom’s name to release them, possibly because they still had a contract with her (though that is purely speculation)

Same Redditor also emailed Mattel customer support, who gave a very corporate response, but in their email used the phrase “AI-generated songs uploaded to the EAH Spotify list” blatantly calling the music AI generated in this email

One week after “Destiny”, on February 2, we get “Brand New Day” which is another single with another screenshot from the show as the cover, this time of Crystal Winter from the Epic Winter episodes

Three days after “Brand New Day”, on February 5, people realize that “Destiny” has been taken down, but ONLY Destiny. Some speculate this is due to the typo in the trademark upon release. The rest stay up

One week after “Brand New Day”, on February 9, the song “Forever Friends” with art of Raven and Apple as the cover is uploaded

Later that same day on February 9, “Forever Friends” and all the other remaining songs, “Brand New Day”, “Unbreakable”, and “Can’t Get Me Down” have all been taken off the Spotify (and Apple Music) list
