SCORE: 6
I am not sure if I liked the issue or not. At moments it was quite smart in the way it was told, and at moments, it felt too boring.
I think it has more to do with the way the story is divided by character, and some characters just got the better stories.
Tumblr media
Some of these stories are not exactly... how do I put it... a good role model. The Spectre gambles to increase his capital... a being that could technically put an end to the war by himself. Let’s think that he wasn’t that powerful yet... even though... he is.
But the funny story within the story is Johnny Quick. He promises to get 300k and ends up bankrupt. Now, Johnny Quick has a genie... he could technically, put an end to the war... or something more useful, and it’s not that he doesn’t think of wishing for money... he just wishes it after the hour (I mean... technically, he could just “say you” again and wish for it).

He is saved by Thunderbolt, by bringing Superman, Batman and The Flash with 100k each. And Flash tells him that some day, when he becomes a big boy, he will tell him how they got the money so fast. Now, I know how Batman got the money... but maybe Jay had to sell his body and cannot tell Johnny right now. I don’t know, just putting a spin on it.
Now, if you wanted to be confused to day, I got just the page for you...
Tumblr media
On a second reading and some slow breathing... it makes sense. But I just got overwhelmed reading it the first time. Couldn’t tell who was what and why and for how long.
Now, the art is the thing that varies a lot from story to story, and some of these are horrible, or very non-creative (like what’s the deal with that aztec treasure... hidden in a tree (???).
It’s very inconsistent in tone... or in logic... and sometimes they get the money of things that cannot be liquidated that easily... but in the end... the overall story kind of makes sense.
Hey, one million dollars was a lot... I think.
