Alastor manifests a conductor’s hat and dons it. “All aboard! Next stop: Royal Circle and the Morningstar Palace!” His face softens as Vox steps up. He offers his arm. “Shall we? If you ignore the warm, sponginess of the floor, Tim’s insides are quite comfortable.” Vox grins. “Sure. A train ride to an upcoming battle sounds weirdly romantic.” Alastor kisses the other Overlord’s knuckles. “I’m so glad you’re safe.” He whispers. “I don’t know what I’d do if I lost you.”

You mean the fucking world to me. Here’s for an even better rest of our year, together.

it actually makes me sick to see people share the BDS boycott list but continue to support companies on the list lmao
one of my mutuals just made 3 tweets in a row about getting mcdonalds when a month ago they were making a thread of helpful information, posting the bds list, and tweeting the watermelon emoji
like do you actually give a fuck about whats happening or are you only virtue signaling for retweets? this shit is so fucking mind numbing like im so pissed off and i know im directing my anger at something small retrospectively but how are you going to be a hypocrite in this situation how are you going to pretend to care how are you going to ignore the simple things we’ve been asked to do i want to just scream
when the bare minimum is not supporting corrupt brands, and self proclaimed leftists can’t even do that, how is anything going to change. am i going to be angry for the rest of my life

I just keep seeing this image of Fabian in my head. This young man who so desperately seek affection and happily soaks up praise–
Standing in a massive empty house. Wandering from room to room. There’s so many rooms. Quietly drinking his milk from a glass he hunted down. He puts himself to bed. This will be the next year of his life.
He’s 18 and he just saved the world. He’s 18 and he killed his father. He’s 18 and he’s so tired. He’s 18 and maybe he deserves a long proper hug from his mom. He’s 18 and he needs to keep smiling as she leaves. (It barely feels like she was here.) He’s 18 and he’s writing his name on the face of the world. He’s 18 and his father would be proud of everything he had done in lieu of his summer vacation. (It’s not what he was worried about.) He’s 18 and he’s his father’s son. He’s 18 and he is his own man. (He was meant to be his mother’s son too.)
He’s 18 and of course none of it hurt. (She said she would start doing better.)

Frankly I think Alistair being mildly shitty to that mage in Ostagar seems pretty in-character for the guy he is before the massive, life-altering trauma that is the Ostagar massacre wherein he sees all of his Grey Warden comrades, his beloved mentor/father figure, and his beloathed half-brother/convenient-target-of-projection absolutely torn to shreds by literal Thedas boogeymen. IIRC Morrigan and Flemeth both comment on his wack behavior after Ostagar and then by the time we get to Lothering Alistair just fully surrenders any and all responsibility (and, frankly, agency) to the player's Warden for the foreseeable future. It can then take anywhere from a couple IRL hours to the entire second act of the game for him to retake almost any amount of it back. And depending on the player's choices in dialogue, and especially whether or not they choose to romance him, we may only see flashes of that guy we met at Ostagar before he potentially morphs into almost someone else entirely (hardened!King!Alistair). All that to say, I don't actually think it's a useful criticism of "characterization" to bring up Alistair's glibness as compared to his behavior in the majority of the game because from where I'm standing (looking directly at his snottiness about Cailan, his complaints about being assigned to the Tower of Ishal, his Templar-esque focusing on Morrigan and Flemeth being apostates, his generally pretty brusque manner with the Warden recruits) it seems fairly in-line with the rest of his behavior at Ostagar.

Hang on I am fully, fully 100% with everyone on being excited for all the non-Joker villain stories the Reevesverse has the opportunity to explore, BUT how fucking giant big-brained of a soundtrack easter egg would it be if they made some allusion to how Nirvana's "Come As You Are" almost got in legal trouble for ripping off "Eighties" by Killing Joke?

FUCK it ok im just gonna fuckign start talking ok beast on my mind you understand.
wolfe is such a deeply, DEEPLY insufferable character because of how much of her revolves around feeling; deeply and completely; on every level. usually these things are negative. but she also starts having this painful sort of Wanting, this feeling of an Almost-Not-Quite. but at the same time, a core point in her being is Denial; stemming not just from the other, but from the Self as well.
shes a character that seems to Want-- to want to Want, yet immediately denies herself of it. its hard not immediately being on the defensive all the time-- its so much safer, easier; its what shes Been doing. not really sure if there's much else. convinced herself there isnt much else. yet when she Does find herself feeling that fondness, somehow, it.. confuses her. takes her own conflict as proof she was right to shy away.
hands are a big pin in her imagery. something she inherently sees as an instrument used to invoke harm. as such, her refusal to reach out (in multiple senses) isnt just solely her aversion to interacting with others, but also a hesitancy stemming from deeper running ideas and biases. wont reach out because thats enacting control, because its only a few steps away from hurting someone, as will inevitably happen. which also applies in the reverse-- if she is being offered that; she immediately takes it on the defensive-- openly or not. intent, expectation, ties. its something shes deeply, Deeply cautious with.
and yet, it doesnt seem as though he's fully aware its something he's Doing. he's not one to be so introspective normally- in fact, he kind of avoids it on principle. yet, so many of his actions are stemming from this jaded acceptance of Who He Is and Who He Should Be, so much so that it becomes a Genuine Problem; that he has no idea he's just confirming his own-- and in a roundabout way, other people's-- biases about who he Is.
intent on reclaiming say on the concept of Himself, in any way necessary, but only really managing to point the wheel straight into a nosedive. he wasnt ever really allowed much else, never was Able to have much else, and this is the only method of control over himself he Knows-- its frustrating. he's frustrated.
shes insufferable.
