Okay I have to say one of the biggest reasons why I absolutely hate the theories that say Miquella wanted to be kidnapped by Mohg, and why they make no fucking sense, is because Miquella put so much effort into growing the Haligtree.

Miquella watered that thing with his own blood since it was a sapling, it is quite literally the foundation for his paradise and the sanctuary that he created for the forsaken. He even went so far as to embed himself into it, acting as its heart and life blood so it could grow stronger and become a full-fledged Erdtree.

And it is explicitly portrayed in game as an absolute tragedy that this dream never came to fruition.

Armor worn by knights sworn to the Haligtree. Its left breast is emblazoned with the crest of the Haligtree. Though watered with Miquella's own blood since it was a sapling, the Haligtree ultimately failed to grow into an Erdtree.

Metal greatshield depicting the Haligtree with unalloyed gold. Carried by knights who have vowed to serve Miquella's Haligtree. Possesses high holy damage negation. Yet now, with the Haligtree misshapen, this wondrous rendition is a fleeting fantasy.

So why in fucks name would Miquella have ever wanted to be ripped and absconded from the Haligtree when he put all that effort into nurturing it????

It's like if you were to proudly proclaim that you're going to build a rocket to the moon to collect lunar samples and then purposely make the engine shitty because it'd be cool to watch the rocket explode.

the amount of ass takes i have been reading about griffith from people complaining about the miquella comparisons is astounding. people acting like griffith has been an evil, manipulative mastermind from the very beginning as if his fall into darkness isn't one of the major plot points of berserk.

if you really need to slander a character to prove your point, at least make sure you have basic media literacy first.

on being regular victims of awful poorly researched, demeaning, often even bad faith takes based on a lot of assumptions and heavily personal bias done by the loudest people in the community that yet always attract true fans to defend them with essays full of actual facts and logic, making haters shivel up and act like victims of "crazy fans".

So, I know that the answer for why Haligtree has the same levers as Leyndell is, "endgame dungeon gets the shiny cool lever to denote endgame cool area."

But within the game universe, it's slightly complicated. Did Miquella bewitch tradesman in the royal capital for a lever contract. Rather, not just for levers, since Elphael and the plaza are some of the more intricately built areas in the game. You can't just make a huge span of buttresses to uphold a rebellion sapling erdtree because you're a demigod, there's planning, labor contracts. I feel like that part of the Haligtree, the actual "we need around 5000 tradesman working in a remote part of the northern sea on a project that they will get into trouble for" is a steep demonstration of how strong Miquella's abilities were, in terms of be-nice-to-me ability.

stupid ass elden ring theory

i’ve seen a lot of theorizing that marika and the golden order are collectively an allegory for catholicism, specifically how it historically led to the erasure and/or assimilation of older pagan religions and cultures (in ER: the crucible, etc).

and i’ve seen a lot of theories that miquella defected from marika’s side in an attempt to unite those who were marginalized by the golden order against her reign, so he can stamp out the golden order and put his own set of rules in place instead.

…and marika’s churches all have carvings of her being crucified in them but the chapel in miquella’s haligtree just has stained glass windows and angel carvings on the walls.

like his whole thing from the very beginning was to cure malenia from her crippling rot and then created a haven for outcasts of the golden order, so he's had nothing but good intentions from the very beginning. and if he were to become evil or some shit out of nowhere, it would be so contradictory to him and what the lore says he stands for and it feels like it would be just a cheap "pull out the rug from under you" moment :/

the one thing that i do like is that yeah, he has compelling powers and uses love to win people over, BUT THAT DOESNT HAVE TO BE A BAD OR EVIL THING????? AND THERES SO MANY PEOPLE THAT SEE IT AS SUCH AND IM JUST LIKE

and honestly it would be even better for miquellas character if he was acutely aware of his powers to compel affection and he too saw it as a little shmarmy and tried to mitigate his abilities

and this whole line here makes me firmly believe that miquella, as he is now, does not have a shred those compelling abilities or anything for that matter.

so Miquella literally gave up EVERYTHING to even be able to come to this world of shadow because there is something here that he sees as extremely important for the fate of the world.

Miquella is literally the epitome of a being who is both kind and humble.

And that is what makes Miquellas character so interesting. Because in the context of all the Souls games where ruin and depression is practically the norm, a character that stands for hope and actually has the power/chance to grant hope to the rest of the world is so incredibly special.

Why is everyone talking about Miquella’s morality suddenly…? Personally I think he’s more or less a good person that’s sometimes willing to go to extremes for his causes especially if it’s for Malenia. And her being his blade, he’s involved in her actions as well.

Pure evil Miquella theories irritate me because they always come across as people just trying to find some excuse to avoid the very heavy implications that Mohg is sexually abusing him (or at the very least, violating his body in a way that mirrors it, it seems to be both if you ask me). And I think the way it shows how Mohg tries to gain the love he desires by force, regardless of Miquella’s will is an important part of his character. I love MohgMiq! But specifically as something purely one-sided, nonconsensual, and abusive, so it takes away the whole appeal of them to me too.

I don’t think it makes sense for Miquella to want any of that too, I mean he raised the Haligtree from a sapling with his blood, and his embedding himself in it makes it seem like he fed it with his whole body too, why ruin that whole plan by having his body removed from it? And his needles are for countering outer gods, and he also seems to be abandoning his fate as an Empyrean (discarding his great rune- the great rune of the unborn seems very similar to Malenia’s so I suspect it to be his, also the description is that it’s one of an unborn demigod which given his eternal childhood and then cocooning himself also matches. Amber starlight as well seems to be his fate.) I don’t think he wants to be a god, and especially since it’s entirely for someone else’s plan. It’s the Mohgwyn dynasty, for an outer god dear to Mohg, not anything for Miquella. And now that may be preventing him from ever hatching even at Mohgwyn, either from willful defiance, lack of the rune perfecting rebirth, or both. The oracles aren’t there either, they’re at the tree, where Malenia did indeed become a god, not Miquella.

Even if he was super manipulative and “evil” I don’t think it would magically save him from being abused, anyone can be a victim. Him being a victim tells us nothing about what he’s like as a person.
