The Final Stretch: Empowering Exercises to Induce Labor Safely
Tumblr media
Introduction
Bringing new life into the world is an exhilarating journey. As the due date approaches, many expectant mothers seek safe, natural ways to induce labor. Here are some empowering exercises to induce labor safely to help you through the final stretch of pregnancy.
Walking: Nature’s Gentle Push
Walking is a simple yet effective exercise. It helps the baby move into the correct position for birth and can stimulate contractions. A brisk walk around your neighborhood or a leisurely stroll in the park can make all the difference. Make sure to keep hydrated and take breaks when needed.
Squatting: Preparing for Delivery
Squats are excellent for strengthening your legs and pelvic muscles. They also help open up the pelvis, allowing the baby to descend further. Try to incorporate squats into your daily routine, but always listen to your body. If you feel discomfort, modify the exercise or consult your healthcare provider.
Pelvic Tilts: Easing Discomfort
Pelvic tilts can alleviate back pain and encourage the baby to move into the optimal birthing position. This exercise is simple and can be done on all fours. Arch your back gently, then release. Repeat this motion several times, focusing on your breathing.
Prenatal Yoga: Connecting Body and Mind
Prenatal yoga offers a holistic approach to preparing for labor. It combines stretching, breathing exercises, and meditation, promoting relaxation and flexibility. Poses like the butterfly stretch and cat-cow are particularly beneficial. Join a prenatal yoga class or follow a guided session online to ensure you’re practicing safely.
Using a Birthing Ball: Enhancing Comfort
A birthing ball can be a valuable tool in the final weeks of pregnancy. Sitting on the ball and gently rocking your hips can help open the pelvis. It also provides comfort and support, reducing the strain on your lower back. Incorporate the birthing ball into your daily routine to stay active and comfortable.
Swimming: A Weightless Workout
Swimming is an excellent low-impact exercise that supports your entire body. The water’s buoyancy relieves pressure on your joints and allows for a full range of motion. Swimming laps or simply floating can help relax your muscles and promote overall well-being.
Sex: A Natural Inducer
Believe it or not, sex can be a natural way to induce labor. Semen contains prostaglandins, which can help ripen the cervix. Additionally, orgasms release oxytocin, a hormone that can trigger contractions. Always ensure that it’s comfortable and safe, and consult your doctor if you have any concerns.
Staying Positive: The Power of Mindset
A positive mindset is crucial during the final stretch of pregnancy. Stress and anxiety can hinder labor progress. Practice mindfulness, surround yourself with supportive loved ones, and stay connected to your baby. Your mental well-being is as important as your physical health.
Consult Your Healthcare Provider
Before starting any exercise routine, it’s essential to consult your healthcare provider. Every pregnancy is unique, and what works for one person may not be suitable for another. Your provider can offer personalized advice and ensure that you and your baby are safe.
conclusion
These empowering exercises can help you prepare for labor and delivery. Remember to listen to your body, stay positive, and seek guidance from your healthcare provider. The journey to motherhood is incredible, and these exercises can help make the final stretch more comfortable and exciting.

hi ! can I request Derek Morgan x Pregnant! Reader?
Where reader is a couple days past her due date and is literally miserable and Derek’s lowkey frustrated because he’s tried every thing he can to help and he hates seeing his girl upset,
so they start looking up ways to help induce labor, and they try a few and none of them work, so reader gives up and starts to cry and Derek is there to reassure her that everything is gonna be okay,
& that he read somewhere that s*x induces labor and it’s turns into light fluffy smut?
---------------------
Tumblr media
---------------------
a/n: i love this idea, probably didn't do it justice, also my most sincere apologies for letting this rot in my inbox for so long :)
summary: derek has to do something when you're 3 days past your due date
pairings: derek morgan x fem! wife! pregnant! reader
warnings: pregnancy issues, smut (lowkey praise kink but wtv), going into labour
---------------------
It would be an understatement to say that being pregnant sucked.
You were tired, you were achy, you couldn’t do anything, you couldn’t sleep, and you were literally 3 days past your due date, with no end in sight.
Fuck this stupid baby, and fuck your stupid husband for getting you pregnant in the first place.
---------------------
You sat in your bed, miserable and in pain as Derek held you in his arms. He was annoyed. He could see how much pain you were in, and knew how much pain you’d be in soon when you had to give birth. He just… he wanted it to stop. So he looked up methods of inducing labour.
“Apparently spicy food helps with inducing labour,” he muttered as he mindlessly rubbed his hand over your stomach.
“I’ll try anything at this point,” you said in a small voice and Derek’s heart shattered.
“I’ll order something,” he nodded and you offered a meek ‘thank you’. He ordered the spiciest things on your local Mexican place’s menu, and waited eagerly for its arrival. When it did come, he plated it and watched as you ate it.
Nothing. Not even a contraction.
“Fuck’s sake,” you groaned, washing your hands after eating. “Now I just feel fucking sick.”
“I’m sorry baby,” he sighed, pulling you in to give you a soft but reassuring kiss. “The next thing on the list is physical exercise.”
That was not met with much enthusiasm, but you obliged anyway. You got on the treadmill that lives in your home-gym, and ran for 30 minutes.
Still nothing.
Derek watched as your frustrated face turned into the one you make before you cry, and his heart shattered a second time. “Come here baby,” he sighed and pulled you into his arms, pressing kisses to your forehead as you cried. He whispered words of reassurance and love, but you couldn’t stop crying. You were in so much pain, you were so tired, and you just wanted this baby out. You wanted to see your little girl and hold her.
“What’s next on the list?” You asked between sobs.
“Sex.”
You looked up at him, drying your eyes. “Sex?”
“Sex,” he nodded. “But if you’re not up to it we can-”
“Derek Morgan, this baby is coming out of me today or so help me god, I will hurt someone,” you swore. Derek nodded quickly and took your hand, leading you to your bedroom.
“What’s safe for the baby?” You asked him timidly as he undressed you.
“Spooning, if that’s comfortable,” he offered. He’d done so much research about how to help you, it almost made you sob all over again. Stupid pregnancy hormones.
“That sounds nice,” you swallowed back the lump in your throat as Derek smiled at you, then pressed soft kisses to your bare collarbone.
“So pretty for me,” he cooed. “My beautiful girl.”
You both laid down on the bed as he kissed you, whispering words of encouragement. God he was so attractive like this, taking care of you, loving you. You were getting ridiculously wet.
“I’m going to be real gentle, okay?”
“Okay,” you nodded as his hands started kneading the plump of your ass.
“You feeling alright?”
“Good, just please- do something,” you begged and he chuckled.
“Already beggin’ for me? God you’re perfect,” he kissed your cheek as he slowly slipped inside you. You let out a series of moans as his long cock filled you up, while his hands groped your body. “That’s it, good girl. Take all of me.”
He slowly started moving as you squirmed and moaned under his thrusts.
“Come on, you’re so good for me baby. Doin’ so good babygirl,” he groaned. “So pretty around my cock.”
You felt yourself clench at his words. Then it happened. Your water broke.
“Oh my god!” You shouted, immediately getting off of the bed and running to get your clothes on. Derek smiled as he watched you.
“It worked?”
“It worked!” You chuckled, then the contractions came in, ruining the moment. You hunched over and leaned on the bed and Derek started getting dressed.
“Come on mama, we gotta get you to the hospital,” he smiled as he helped you out.
---------------------
Twelve hours later, you two welcomed your first little girl, Emily Morgan.
Derek already wanted another one.

"liberals want abortion at 9 months!"
At nine months they don't "abort" the baby, they induce labour; they deliver it. If the infant dies, it was either already dead in the womb, or it was dying.
"liberals want late term abortions"
Let me make one thing very clear. If an abortion is happening at 7 months, 8 months, 9 months it is because something has gone catastrophically wrong with the pregnancy. Do you think women who carry a baby for more than half a year decide on a whim they don't want their child anymore? Because that's what it is at that point to them: a child.
Late term pregnancy complications are treated in two ways. They either induce labour to remove the baby from the mother -- at which point it is born, legally considered a living person, and therefore illegal to kill (infanticide) OR they abort the fetus. Why do they abort? Because the fetus is dead.
If you need an abortion late term, the fetus is dead. If the fetus is dying, they do not abort, they deliver the baby. That's what happens. If the baby dies after being removed from the mother, or in the process of being removed from the mother, it was already going to die. It is a stillbirth. If it dies hours or days later, it is a tragedy.
You abort a late term fetus because it is dead. You abort a late term fetus because it has catastrophic developmental abnormalities. You abort a late term fetus because it is killing the mother.
Abortions only occur when there is no other option. At that point in development -- if the baby is dying in the womb or putting the mother's life at risk -- they opt to do an emergency c-section instead.
Every woman who needs a late term abortion WANTED her baby. She didn't carry that pregnancy into her third trimester without imagining that child in her arms. These are families who have built cribs, bought clothes, and picked names. Imagine going through the worst experience of your life -- losing your child -- only to then find out your life is hanging in the balance because doctors cannot remove a baby from your body; a baby that is already dead or soon to be. Imagine the grief being compounded by a life threatening medical emergency.
It makes me furious when conservatives deliberately spread misinformation about what abortion looks like in the third trimester. Doctors will not abort unless there is no other option, they will just deliver the baby. This is not a case of women deciding to maliciously kill their children for the fun of it, and to insinuate such is disgusting.
-----------------------------------------------
Additional context bc tumblr is a hellfire and I know someone is going to read my statements in bad faith: I am giving my opinion in black and white terms. There is obviously nuance in regards to certain things I say, but generalisations in this instance is more impactful. I care about describing the experience of the overwhelming majority, rather than strategically using my words in order to provide a perfect opinion that applies in 100% of all cases all the time. No one desires to have a late term abortion. No one plans on having a late term abortion. If a woman had the ability to terminate a pregnancy she didn't want -- as her right should be -- then no woman would carry a fetus into the third trimester only to then decide she doesn't want to anymore. When women have the right to choose, they don't choose late term abortion for the hell of it.
However, I am also of the opinion that a woman should be able to change her mind about being pregnant at literally any point during her pregnancy. I wholeheartedly support a woman's right to choose, no matter what. No. Matter. What. But please use Occam's Razor. Which is more likely? That she has literally no other option than to abort late term, or that she suddenly decides she doesn't want a baby anymore at the 11th hour? Please exercise critical thinking.
I also deliberately chose to use the word woman. Once again, I'm focusing on what is the case for the overwhelming majority rather than trying to use less impactful language to be perfectly accurate 100% of the time. Abortions are only performed on female-bodied people, and ~98-99% of the time, people with that anatomy identify as women. Talking about it as a gender neutral issue obscures the misogyny and sexism that underpins the matter. Conservatives don't want women to have the right to choose because they have reductive gender values and believe that women should be pregnant for a multitude of reasons, but the most maddening of which stems from the belief that childbirth is divine retribution for Eve sinning against god. They don't believe women should have rights or autonomy because they are patriarchal and their sexist ideology demands women be baby makers. They want women to be property, and as long as they desire to assert reproductive control over women, abortion is a women's rights issue.

I’m so goddamn tired. I hate it here so fucking badly. I hate it here. It’s 2024. We know better and yet we are pushing these ads and these dogs everywhere, STILL - why do we as a society love animal cruelty so much?? I will never understand.
Tumblr media
I’m going to be brutally honest - people are stupid. People will not open their phones to google for three minutes before buying an expensive dog, that lives for 15 years - and media affects people IMMENSELY. Remember how everyone and their mom got a husky (an extremely hard dog to keep, because they’re working sled dogs) after game of thrones? How every single child got a rat after ratattouille, and how most likely a lot of them were abandoned? This happens with frenchies and pugs as well because they are featured EVERYWHERE.
”Oh wow its so ugly i love it ;;” ”Oh it’s so cute I want one!!” No. Dogs who need surgery where you cut their nostrils open just to be able to breathe a /little/ better is not something you should want or support. Animal cruelty is not something you should want or support.
Tumblr media
This is a chart for assessing stenotic (pinched) nares in brachycephalic dogs. The open nares seen here are not even actual normal nares - this is what they look like in non-brachy dogs.
Tumblr media
There is no other way to say this: these dogs can’t breathe. That’s why they make noises like little pigs - they can’t actually get sufficient air into their lungs because their airways are so closed. They are partially suffocating - every single minute of every day.
Here’s the reasons why:
- the nostrils are closed. you can see how hard and panic-inducing it is to ”breathe” like that by pinchig your own nostrils for a little while. it’s very common to have surgery to cut the nostrils open - but even if it might help a little bit they’re only ONE reason why these dogs suffer
- the face is flattened - this is why the tongue cant actually fit in their mouths, which of course makes the tongue constantly dry and uncomfortable. they also have teeth problems because, again, the teeth literally cant fit in their mouths. they also can’t cool down the way dogs normally do by panting - because the area in their nasal cavity where this happens is extremely small. this, together with the breathing issue, makes them extremely prone to over-heating and dying as a result.
- their soft palates are, again, too big for their mouths and make the dogs’ airways more closed as a result. surgery to cut this soft tissue away is common.
- their laryngeal sacculis are often inverted - think of a pocket of your trousers that is turned inside out. these sacs are located in the back of the throat and further obstruct the airways
- laryngeal collapse is also not uncommon
- their tracheas are VERY thin. That’s why breeding for a different type of bulldog and pug etc is important and thats why ONLY opening the nares and lengthening the snout is not the answer - if the trachea is the dimension of a straw, they will still be unable to breathe properly - and you can’t assess this without image diagnostics, of course…
Tumblr media
- because these dogs struggle to breathe and are prone to over-heating they can have trouble exercising and this easily get overweight. The extra fat will collect around the neck, amongst other places, and this can pinch the anatomy of the throat and airways of the neck even further
- some symptoms of BOAS (brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome) that people find ~cute and unique include:
-> snoring loudly and snorting when breathing. This is because of the obstructed airways and means they struggle to breathe both while asleep and while exercising/walking
-> ”smiling” (pulling corners of the mouth up) and rolling the tip of the tongue is something seen when the dog is labouring to breathe
-> these dogs often find toys to keep in their mouths when they sleep - this is not normal, they do this deliberately because they can’t breathe.
-> these dogs are the ONLY dogs who will be happy about having a tube inserted into their trachea while undergoing surgery. Normally you remove this the second the dog starts to come to - because it is extremely uncomfortable having essentially a straw inside your airways - but for brachy dogs they enjoy being able to breathe fairly comfortably and they will sit fully awake with the tube for long periods of time. It’s heartbreaking.
PLEASE don’t get these dogs and please call out advertisements etc promoting them - because we all know that they are already extremely popular and that marketing sells even more of them. It’s downright evil, and it’s animal cruelty in the name of ~marketing. Yes of course there’s a lot of them in shelters needing adoption - BUT it’s very important to know what you’re getting into. A lot of these dogs DO need surgery to be able to breathe at least partially, and these are invasive and very expensive.
This was just off the top of my head but here’s a link with more info -> BOAS in dogs

Ok imagine this: Tyler Posey is overdue and has an onlyfans. Do you think he would try to do labour inducing things to give birth online? Would he let his subscribers see how those babies are born??
Oh, he’d definitely try to do things that’d induce his labor. Drinking strange concoctions, fucking himself with large toys, eating spicy foods, walking around his house excessively, stretching, exercising — if the fans suggest/ask for it, he’s going to give it a solid try. When his water does break though, which would totally happen on video, I think the reality of the whole giving birth thing would set in and he’d start to panic. He’d be so frenzied, he wouldn’t be able to think straight at all… and he wouldn’t be laughing about it. I think he’d probably record or livestream his trip to the hospital, and all that stuff, just to show his fans that his water finally broke… but I don’t think he’d document the birth for public consumption.

I had this thought about Puritianverse: Daniel is heavily pregnant, very close to giving birth. Knowing how uncomfortable and tired his Omega is, Terry attempts to convince him that he can induce labor with sex.
“But…Alpha, Sir,” Daniel pleads tiredly, resting his small hands on his large belly, “…I’m really exhausted—“
“Don’t worry baby, I’ll do all the work. And dont you want me to make you feel better? It’s my job, as your Alpha.” Terry soothes, unwilling to take no for an answer. He always gets what he wants after all. And seeing his sweet little Omega like this gets him ridiculously hard.
I have to say - I have been waiting for someone to propose this lol surprised it took this long
I can imagine Terry waiting for the doctor to suggest that. It’s their first pup; they usually go over their due date.
His little mate has taken to pregnancy beautifully, just like Terry knew he would.
He was truly made for it.
And Daniel has loved having Terry’s pup inside him, but he’s tired and his belly is huge; he is uncomfortable and aching.
The little omega reached that point now where he’s just done.
He wants nothing more now than to have the baby out of him; both so he can have his body back to himself again and to finally meet their pup.
The doctor has come to the house for his checkup and Daniel asks then, of ways to induce labour - the older omegas have their wives tales after all.
“Are you and your alpha still being intimate?” The doctor asks.
Short and not too bad in terms of NSFW - in comparison to others lol
Daniel turns red, unable to answer such a question.
“We are,” Terry answers, not an ounce of shame, only pride in his voice. “Not as much as we would be normally. He finds it hard, given his condition now.”
He tires easily as well, which Terry has no problem doing all the work. As long as he gets to have his little omega as much as possible while he’s in this state; a state Terry is responsible for.
His chest is swollen, his nipples an even darker more alluring shade of brown.
Seeing his mate so full of life, life put there by Terry himself makes the alpha hard. Daniel too, his little rosebud and pussy are so sensitive now.
“I have positions which are good for late stage pregnancy,” the doctor tells Terry.
Daniel shifts, the baby kicking, and Terry lays a hand on his stomach, the kicking calming down a bit.
“My advice is, intimacy with you alpha, accepting your alpha inside you for lovemaking is the best way to induce your labour. The exercise and endorphins alone will help but it his seed that will do the trick.”
Daniel had heard some of the younger omegas with pups of their own claim this, the older ones frowning on any intimacy with your alpha whilst with child.
“It contains a high amount of prostaglandin. Being full of your alpha’s seed will soften your cervix and may help start the labour process. It could also help shorten your labour and have an easier delivery.”
“Breast stimulation also helps. During your lovemaking or separate from it.”
The midwife has been showing them that, to help make sure he can provide for the pup once born.
Terry’s favourite thing is to have his omega in his lap, cock inside, mouth on a tender nipple, one hand massaging the other one, another hand resting on his stomach.
“One of the best positions for your omega now, this late, is on his side with you behind him. Pillows can be used to support his stomach, and you can open him up by putting his leg over you,” The doctor explains to Daniel. “This will also allow you to penetrate deep, and is good if he tires easily.”
Daniel already knows what they’ll be doing as soon as they get home, and probably throughout the night.

I.8.5 How were the Spanish agricultural co-operatives organised and co-ordinated?
Jose Peirats described collectivisation among the peasantry as follows:
“The expropriated lands were turned over to the peasant syndicates, and it was these syndicates that organised the first collectives. Generally the holdings of small property owners were respected, always on the condition that only they or their families would work the land, without employing wage labour. In areas like Catalonia, where the tradition of petty peasant ownership prevailed, the land holdings were scattered. There were no great estates. Many of these peasants, together with the CNT, organised collectives, pooling their land, animals, tools, chickens, grain, fertiliser, and even their harvested crops. “Privately owned farms located in the midst of collectives interfered with efficient cultivation by splitting up the collectives into disconnected parcels. To induce owners to move, they were given more or even better land located on the perimeter of the collective. “The collectivist who had nothing to contribute to the collective was admitted with the same rights and the same duties as the others. In some collectives, those joining had to contribute their money (Girondella in Catalonia, Lagunarrotta in Aragón, and Cervera del Maestra in Valencia).” [The Anarchist Collectives, p. 112]
Dolgoff observed that “supreme power was vested in, and actually exercised by, the membership in general assemblies, and all power derived from, and flowed back to, the grass roots organisations of the people.” [Op. Cit., p 119fn] Peirats also noted that the collectives were “fiercely democratic” as regards decision-making. For example, in Ademuz “assemblies were held every Saturday” while in Alcolea de Cinca “they were held whenever necessary.” [Anarchists in the Spanish Revolution, p. 146] Eyewitness Gaston Leval summarised this explosion in self-management as follows:
“Regular general membership meetings were convoked weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly … and these meetings were completely free of the tensions and recriminations which inevitably emerge when the power of decisions is vested in a few individuals — even if democratically elected. The Assemblies were open for everyone to participate in the proceedings. Democracy embraced all social life. In most cases, even the ‘individualists’ who were not members of the collective could participate in the discussions, and they were listened to by the collectivists.” [The Anarchist Collectives, p 119fn]
Work was “usually done in groups on a co-operative basis. In smaller collectives, all workers gathered to discuss the work needed to be done and how to allocate it. In larger collectives, representatives of each work group would gather at regular intervals. General assemblies of the collective met on a weekly, biweekly, or monthly basis, and took up issues ranging from hours and wages to the distribution of food and clothing.” [Martha A. Ackelsberg in Free Women of Spain, p. 106] It was in these face-to-face assemblies that decisions upon the distribution of resources were decided both within and outwith the collective. Here, when considering the importance of mutual aid, appeals were made to an individual’s sense of empathy. As one activist remembered:
“There were, of course, those who didn’t want to share and who said that each collective should take care of itself. But they were usually convinced in the assemblies. We would try to speak to them in terms they understood. We’d ask, ‘Did you think it was fair when the cacique [local boss] let people starve if there wasn’t enough work?’ and they said, ‘Of course not.’ They would eventually come around. Don’t forget, there were three hundred thousand collectivists [in Aragón], but only ten thousand of us had been members of the CNT. We had a lot of educating to do.” [quoted by Ackelsberg, Op. Cit., p. 107]
In addition, regional federations of collectives were formed in many areas of Spain (for example, in AragĂłn and the Levant). The federations were created at congresses to which the collectives in an area sent delegates. These congresses agreed a series of general rules about how the federation would operate and what commitments the affiliated collectives would have to each other. The congress elected an administration council, which took responsibility for implementing agreed policy. The Levant Federation was organised as follows:
“The 900 Collectives were brought together in 54 cantonal federations which grouped themselves and at the same time subdivided into five provincial federations which at the top level ended in the Regional Comite … [This] was nominated directly by the annual congresses answerable to them and to the hundreds of peasant delegates chosen by their comrades … . It was also on their initiative that the Levante Federation was divided into 26 general sections in accordance with specialisations in work and other activities. Those 26 sections constituted a whole which embraced probably for the first time in history outside the State and governmental structures, the whole of social life.” [Gaston Leval, Collectives in the Spanish Revolution, p. 154]
The Aragón Federation statues were agreed at its founding congress in mid-February 1937 by 500 delegates. These stated that there would be “as many county federations” as deemed “necessary for the proper running of the collectives” and the Federation would “hold its ordinary congress at intervals of six months, in addition to whatever extraordinary ones … deemed appropriate.” New collectives could join after “consent in general assembly of the inhabitants of the collective”. The federation aimed to “coordinate the economic potential of the region and … be geared towards solidarity in accordance with the norms of autonomy and federalism.” [quoted by Jose Peirats, The CNT in the Spanish Revolution, vol. 1, p. 240]
These federations had many tasks. They ensured the distribution of surplus produce to the front line and to the cities, cutting out middlemen and ensuring the end of exploitation. They also arranged for exchanges between collectives to take place. In addition, the federations allowed the individual collectives to pool resources together in order to improve the infrastructure of the area (building roads, canals, hospitals and so on) and invest in means of production which no one collective could afford. In this way individual collectives pooled their resources, increased and improved the means of production ad the social and economic infrastructure of their regions. All this, combined with an increase of consumption in the villages and towns as well as the feeding of militia men and women fighting the fascists at the front.
Rural collectivisations allowed the potential creative energy that existed among the rural workers and peasants to be unleashed, an energy that had been wasted under private property. The popular assemblies allowed community problems and improvements to be identified and solved directly, drawing upon the ideas and experiences of everyone and enriched by discussion and debate. To quote one participant: “We were always prepared to adapt our ideas in every area of collective life if things did not work. That was the advantage of our collectives over state-created ones like those in Russia. We were free. Each village could do as it pleased. There was local stimulus, local initiative.” [quoted by Ronald Fraser, Blood of Spain, p. 357] As we discuss in the the next section, this enabled rural Spain to be transformed from one marked by poverty and fear into one of increased well-being and hope.

New Year's Resolutions 2024.
We're going for simple but profound life improvements this year.
I don't really feel like resolutions is entirely the right word -- it feels like giving yourself an ultimatum, which isn't how I see this purpose, or the tone, of my practice. They're more an acknowledgement of aspirations, a voicing of intentions to help clarify the path I want to take that year.
In 2024, I am making choices to bring more joy, more art, more rest and relief, and more connection with people I love into my life.
write to mum every day. For mum's early Christmas present, I gave her a day planner with a beautiful cover (Van Gogh, one of her favourites), but she never got to use it. I've taken to the idea of writing to her every day, since the thought I've been having most frequently this month, about little inconsequential things, is "I wish I could tell mum about this." .
make a memory book. More of a scrapbook than a typical photo album. I want to make a memory book of my mum, all the things I don't want to forget about her, and all the things I want to celebrate and reminsce fondly about. I've kept so many little bits and pieces over the years, like ticket stubs and cards, which I now feel was subconsciously for this exact purpose. .
take care of myself. In many ways, 2023 was a good year for this goal, but 2024 can absolutely be better. I intend to sleep well, eat well, exercise, do things that are enjoyable as often as possible, and say no + use my time for myself. I see it as infinitely more precious at the moment, and I'm not happy any longer to give it away to just anyone who wants for free labour. .
dress for fun. Another continuation of 2023, but also another that can be improved. I can for sure get weirder with it. .
make art. This is one I am so looking forward to. I've really missed it, and in some ways regret that I've prioritised nearly every other thing over this one. But not anymore. I'm excited to draw again, and do craft, and write when the mood strikes. .
read for pleasure. Another one that fell to the wayside again and again in my pursuit of productivity and trying to finish my thesis, and work, and volunteer, and be social, and keep on top of life admin. .
play games. Ditto above! I get too much fun from playing games not to do it more often. .
run (and play in?) tabletop games. In some ways, this folds in under both 'make art' and 'play games' but I feel it combines the two enough as a distinct third option to count for another goal. I particularly want to run Dread again, and try out some other kinds of tabletop / board games too. .
go on outings more often. I have a year pass to the aquarium that I want to start using ASAP, and I want to visit the botanic gardens more often. It's a beautiful place and really nice to walk around, so will be an ideal place to get a little more exercise into my life as well. Likewise, I'm looking forward to going to see theatre further afield, and visit more galleries and museums. .
decorate home / start renovations. We've decided it's about time to start seriously making some changes to our home, which is exciting but also a bit anxiety-inducing. We're fairly confident the first port of call will be installing aircon, followed by kitchen renovations and electrical work throughout the house. That's going to make such a huge difference to the QOL (quality of lighting) and the functionality of the kitchen / living space and desk areas. .
connect more with friends + family. I've sacrificed a lot of time with family and friends to keep afloat with work and my dissertation etc., and while I know that was a sensible decision, it's not a situation I want to keep living in. I would rather achieve less and spend more time with the people that are important to me. .
submit thesis. It feels a bit silly to put this here when it's so close to done at this point already, but it's still worth acknowledging -- and also celebrating. It's hard that my mum won't be here to see me graduate, or read what I've spent all this time working on, but I know she wouldn't want that to detract from the experience for me so I'm trying to walk the fine line of pride / satisfaction and grief as I travel down this final stretch. .
manage workload better. Work is usually fine, but the busy periods really slam me and I have to really struggle to keep afloat in that environment. I've assessed the problems and have started to put things in place so I'm not being overloaded, and I think that + some recent talks I've had with my manager will make a big difference in how that all happens this year coming.

Articulate periodically with all stakeholders.
Appropriate scheduling aids in concluding undertakings on time. It reduces financial losses and improves efficiency.
3. Labour Shortages
The reputed construction cost consultant says that skilled workers are needed. They can take care of quality construction. However, many enterprises contend for the exact workforce. A lack of competent labour stalls down undertakings. They also affect work quality.

Solution:
Specify detailed contact channels.
Utilise project leadership software for adequate coordination.
Conduct periodic seminars to revamp teams on advancement.

Review all requested changes carefully before approval.
Assess the cost and time impact of each change.
Use digital modelling tools to test designs in advance.
Lowering design modifications saves time and recedes project outlay.

Solution:
Operate with dependable suppliers and support good affinities.
Order materials early to dodge last-minute deficits.
Keep alternative suppliers as backup options.
Use inventory management systems for better tracking.
Plan for unexpected disruptions to minimise their impact.
A stable supply chain keeps projects running smoothly.
9. Environmental Factors
Climate conditions and environmental decrees impact construction. Heavy showers, severe temperatures, or natural catastrophes can hinder work. Environmental constraints may also restrict certain actions.
Solution:
Check weather forecasts before scheduling work.
Plan construction phases according to seasonal conditions.
Use weather-resistant materials where necessary.
Follow environmental laws to avoid legal issues.
Execute eco-friendly building procedures to satisfy constraints.
Acclimating to environmental facets downsizes pauses and guarantees observance.

Private Obstetrician Near Me: How They Provide Exceptional Care During Your Pregnancy
Pregnancy is a unique journey filled with excitement, anticipation, and sometimes a bit of anxiety. Proper care during this time is essential to ensure the mother and baby remain healthy. If you’re searching for a private obstetrician near me, you take a necessary step towards personalised and comprehensive care. A private obstetrician offers tailored services that meet your needs and preferences, giving you peace of mind during this special time.
Why Choose a Private Obstetrician?
Opting for a private obstetrician offers numerous advantages compared to standard healthcare services. Private obstetricians often have more time to dedicate to each patient, allowing for personalised consultations, detailed explanations, and ample time to address concerns. From the early stages of pregnancy to postnatal care, a private obstetrician ensures continuity and consistency, which can make a world of difference to your experience.
When you search for a "private obstetrician near me," you’ll likely find specialists who are experienced in managing routine and high-risk pregnancies. Their advanced knowledge and access to cutting-edge medical facilities ensure that you and your baby are in the best hands.
Personalised Antenatal Care
One of the primary reasons women choose private obstetricians is the personalised care they provide throughout the antenatal period. This includes regular check-ups, detailed ultrasounds, and customised advice on diet, exercise, and lifestyle adjustments. A private obstetrician works closely with you to monitor your baby’s growth and development, offering reassurance and addressing any potential concerns promptly.
Additionally, private obstetricians can offer advanced screening tests and diagnostics, helping detect complications early. Their proactive approach ensures you receive the best care tailored to your circumstances.
Emotional Support and Communication
Pregnancy often comes with a mix of emotions, from joy to stress. Having a private obstetrician by your side can help alleviate some of these concerns. They take the time to listen to your questions, explain medical procedures, and offer emotional support throughout the journey.
If you’ve ever thought, “I need a private obstetrician near me who truly understands my needs,” you’re likely seeking someone who values open communication and fosters a trusting relationship. Private obstetricians excel in creating this supportive environment, allowing you to feel confident and informed at every stage.
Comprehensive Delivery Care
The delivery process is one of the most significant moments of your life, and having a trusted private obstetrician by your side can make all the difference. Private obstetricians often work in leading hospitals, ensuring you have access to state-of-the-art facilities and skilled medical teams. They are involved in planning your delivery method—whether it’s a natural birth, a planned caesarean, or an induced delivery—based on what’s safest for you and your baby.
By choosing a private obstetrician near me, you’ll benefit from personalised delivery care, where your preferences and birth plans are considered. Their presence during labour provides reassurance as they guide you through the process with expertise and compassion.
Postnatal Care and Beyond
The role of a private obstetrician doesn’t end with delivery. Postnatal care is just as crucial as the antenatal period, and private obstetricians ensure that both mother and baby are well-supported during this transition. They provide guidance on breastfeeding, recovery, and coping with the physical and emotional changes after childbirth.
Searching for a "private obstetrician near me" means you’ll have access to follow-up care tailored to your needs. This continuity of care ensures that any postnatal issues are addressed promptly, helping you confidently navigate motherhood's challenges.
Access to Multidisciplinary Teams
Another significant advantage of choosing a private obstetrician is the access to multidisciplinary care. Private obstetricians often collaborate with paediatricians, physiotherapists, dietitians, and mental health specialists, providing holistic support for you and your baby. This integrated approach ensures that every aspect of your health and well-being is considered, creating a positive pregnancy and postnatal experience.
Summary
Choosing a private obstetrician near you can transform your pregnancy journey into a personalised, supportive, and reassuring experience. From antenatal check-ups to delivery and postnatal care, private obstetricians provide exceptional care tailored to your needs. Their expertise, accessibility, and commitment to your well-being ensure that you and your baby receive the best possible start to life. This step is not just about finding medical support—it’s about securing peace of mind during one of life’s most precious milestones.

What is Premature Birth?
Premature birth happens when delivery occurs before 37 weeks of pregnancy. It is the leading cause of death in children under five and can result in lifelong disabilities. Premature births are categorized based on gestational age:
Extremely Preterm: Born before 28 weeks
Very Preterm: Born between 28 and less than 32 weeks

Fluid Leakage: Gushing or trickling of fluid from the vagina, especially if the fluid is discoloured.
Vaginal Bleeding: Any bleeding during pregnancy.

Feeding Assistance: Initially through IV or feeding tubes.
Phototherapy: To treat jaundice.

Long-Term Complications: Cerebral palsy, learning disabilities, retinopathy of prematurity, hearing loss, enamel defects, and increased risk of conditions like autism spectrum disorder.
When to See a Doctor
Contact your doctor if you experience:
Regular contractions or tightenings.
Excess fluid leakage.
Vaginal bleeding.

By • Olalekan Fagbade NLC now a political arm of Labour Party – Groups react to plot to stop Guber Elections A coalition of civil society organisations has bemoaned the alleged partisanship of the Joe Ajaero-led Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC). The civil societies accused the NLC of being the political arm of the Labour Party ready to “blackmail, arm-twist, and rain puerile machinations to disrupt the forthcoming democratic election in Imo state.” They said this in a press statement jointly signed by the executive director of Initiative for Leadership and Economic Watch in Nigeria, Splendour Agbonkpolor; Executive Director, Centre for Peace, Transparency and Accountability, Patrick Onomuodeke; Executive Director, Integrity Advocacy for Development Initiative, Ofomhi Christopher and President, Civil Society Groups for Good Governance, Ogakwu Dominic. The NLC president last week Wednesday, November 1, led workers to a protest at the NLC State Secretariat in Owerri, the Imo State capital against the state government. Violence broke out during the protest which led to the assault of the NLC President. Organised labour accused state governor, Hope Uzodimma and the State Commissioner of Police of being behind the assault of Ajaero. Angered by the beating of the NLC president by alleged thugs, organised labour threatened a nationwide. This week, the NLC and Trade Union Congress (TUC) addressed a joint press conference where they vowed to cut power and fuel supply to Imo state. In response to their threat, labour leaders took action on Thursday, November 9, by blocking the roads leading to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja to protest the assault on their president. Addressing reporters, Agbonkpolor said the NLC president had “no right to stop the good people of Imo State from exercising their franchise, which is their inalienable right under democratic governance.” He urged the NLC to “purge herself from partisanship as labour unions are the last resort of the common man.” Agbonkpolor added: “It is high time the union suspended Ajaero in order to restore the confidence of ordinary Nigerians who see labour unionism as a struggle for the enforcement of workers’ rights and entitlement. “As concerned civil society organisation, we cannot sit and watch while unscrupulous elements in the name of comradeship fan the embers of hate and perdition. “We use this medium to call for overhauling of NLC as a matter of urgency to purge the union of questionable elements who are trying to bring the labour union into disrepute by being politically induced to cause crisis during the election; forthwith call for the suspension of Ajaero, and should be investigated by the Police, DSS and other security agencies of Ajaero misdemeanour. “While we urge citizens of Imo state to go about their lawful business and come out in their number and vote on Saturday.”
